Should test drivers be called into races/qualifying (like I did last season), an RP should be necessary, and they will take the next available car number, unless they're using the second/first driver's car.
Qualifying system - Twelve laps, best lap counts. The top 28 cars will start the race (do a pace lap) unless a driver, in the top 28, is more than 112% (adjusted for NSF1GP) outside the pole time, in which case he has not qualified.
Points system - 25, 20, 15, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

They'd started out as a modest workman's car company. Through tenacious work, Rémi Von Lagaffe had managed to construct a company that had managed to break through on both the domestic and foreign markets. He had supervised all the models that had been made for the first thirty years, but he had been edged out of the company by the shareholders, gradually loosing his grasp on the company that was his life. He'd never enjoyed anything else, and as his work drew him away from cars and towards paperwork, he was becoming more and more edgy, less in touch with his company, and didn't really like his job any more.
But he wouldn't go on doing something he didn't like, and even if he wasn't the majority shareholder, he knew that he had an unrivalled degree of prestige, even as he entered his sixties; he was after all the man who had built Lagaffe from nothing. He had an idea : to enhance his company's image through sporting events. Lagaffe cars weren't meant to be luxury cars, even if they had recently developped a couple of models that were exactly that. Lagaffe cars were, and had always been, reliable cars that were easy to drive. You wouldn't be outpacing a Panthara, but you'd have the guaratee of a good family car with a Lagaffe. So, when he started to get interested in motor sports, and on how he could get a car in the events, he managed to sway Lagaffe into creating a Motor Sports Division without any problems.
Rallye wasn't yet on the timetable, as the shareholders had insisted on entering the F1 season first. Rémi had immediately made internal changes to name someone else at his job, and became far more involved in the motor sports division than any else. Being one of the best motor technicians, he had been named supervisor of the motor division, and had also been kept up to date with the other components of the car. Right from the start, he had announced that Lagaffe would use F1 to show the qualities of their cars : reliability and ease of driving. Of course, the better grip meant that aerodynamics were lost, and the more reliable motor wasn't able to get the same output as the less reliable motors that had been considered at first. Yet Rémi was sure his team would perform.
The season was closing in. Drivers had been chosen, one through an internal search, and the other through a quick look at the F3 drivers without contract. The internal solution, David Marius Weiler, was an engineer. Freshly promoted in motor engineering, he'd joined Lagaffe only months before the Motor Sports division had been created. An avid driver, he'd jumped on the opportunity of being part of the adventure, and had done well in the trials thanks to his excellent knowlege of the motor, meaning that even though he wasn't as quick as some of his rivals, he was by far the most reliable, not crashing a single time in the trials, meaning that he came second the 4-race trials, winning once, and being second the three other times. Those three times, he'd been beaten by a driver who had been seen as an outsider after the first race, where he managed to crash into the tyre wall after only 4 laps: Gaston Eric Damien. Gaston had however been by far the most agressive of the 10 trialists, and his agressivity had payed off, as he forced his way past opponents and fended off their desire to overtake. He didn't know much about motors, he admitted that. Having left school just before his finals in his last year of high school, he had spent hours driving his F5, then his F4, and lastly his F3 all over the world. But when his team went bust, he didn't recieve any offers from other teams, and thought his career was bust. He went back to school, but when Lagaffe announced that they were looking for potential F1 drivers, he dropped his schoolbooks without hesitation to feel the exhiliaration of speed once more.
The last man on the team, Manuel Miguel Hernanchez, had eased to second in the first race, and battled for second in the latter three, all times loosing out when he missed a gear change within the last 4 laps, allowing Weiler to outpace him to the line. He came from neighbouring Rox, and had a very boring parcours. Born and bred in Roxville, he'd never been outside Rox until his 18th birthday. He was a street racer as a youth in Rox, but that's not uncommon, since Rox doesn't have a police force, and is the biggest weapons market in the region. After being nicknamed "Bullet" by his pairs, he had seeked to earn a living through driving. This forced to leave Rox, and he came to Vuam and Isma only because he had heard of the seek for a F1 driver by Lagaffe. Knowing nothing of F1, he had assumed it was similar to street racing. His surprise was great when he discovered the Franquin X11 F1, and probably only lost out on being one of the starters because of his inability to communicate to the mechanics his desires for the motor settings, since his handing of the car was brilliant, he had by far the best line of the 10 trialists, but also the least motor knowlege, and all his "tricks" seemed to not pay off, leaving him uneasy in a car that he didn't master well enough to be agressive with. He took the trialist spot with the hope that once he can master the car he'll edge one of the two starters out and become "Nume 1".

A big screen TV flicks on in Fort Boston Plaza, opposite the grandstands of the Fort Boston Park Circuit. A massive roar goes up from the crowd as the Bostopia F1 cars are shown in their garage before Channel 9 Owner and Reporter Greg Griffis steps infront of the camera.
[Griffis] This is Greg Griffis reporting LIVE on Channel 9 Griffwitness News, Bostopia! Qualifying is due to start here in the Fort Boston Park circuit within hours, so please switch over to Channel 95 for live coverage of the event, but stick with us for today's top stories from Bostopia!
The TV switches over.
[Gary Jenning] Hello and welcome to Qualifying from the Fort Boston Park Circuit! It's a very exciting time for the country, hosting their first international event, and with Bostopia F1 hoping to build on last year's limited successes! Of course, we welcome all the other 15 teams to Bostopia, along with their fans, but first, let's go down to Jenna Reage in the pitlane, for a chat with Bostopia's #1 driver, Adam Teraining!
[Jenna] Yes, thank you Gary, I'm here outside the Bostopia F1 garage with Adam Teraining. Adam, you had a strong season last year, how do you rate this season's chances?
[Adam] Well Jenna, I'd say we've got a good chance, the team's made improvements over the winter in testing, and I've been able to find a setup that's increased my power, and Dave's found a bit better aerodynamic setup, but that's fine, we want a bit of rivalry within the team to keep each other on our toes.
[Jenna] Haha I guess it makes both of you drive faster!
[Adam] Exactly.
[Jenna] Ok, the burning question, can you win today?
[Adam] Well, it's the first grand prix here in Bostopia and a Bostopian win would be brilliant, I think we're in for a strong shot, knowing the circuit better than most.
[Jenna] Well, good luck in qualifying, and back to Gary in the studio!
[Gary] Ok, well, we'll cross live to our commentators for the first competitive F1 runs at the Fort Boston Park Circuit, Nigel Krape, but first, Jake Varton!

[Jenna] Dave, you've got fourth in qualifying, what's your initial reaction to that?
[Dave] Well Jenna, you know, it's a very strong performance from the car, we needed good grip round the track in some areas, but still not to much so that it slowed us on the straights, and we found that today. Adam's in ninth he has a good shot at points too so I see it being productive for both of us tomorrow.
[Jenna] Will there be dancing in the streets come tomorrow afternoon?
[Dave] Haha I sure hope so! The Emperor's starting the race tomorrow and it'd be great to collect a trophy off him also.
[Jenna] Ok, thanks, back to Gary in the studio.

Defending champion fails to qualify
The NationStates F1GP Championship defending driver's champion Troy Wilkins has failed to qualify for the Bostopian Grand Prix in a shock turn of events. The LEC LivEng Racing driver could only manage the 30th-best time, disappointing by anyone's standards. The team confirmed however that they had their full faith in their no. 1 driver, who took over from Mike Daniels as LEC LivEng's no.1 after winning the championship last year. Ironically, Daniels qualified in pole position for the race.

Bostopia... Or rather the Bostopian grand prix. Rémi hadn't visited Bostopia, and he didn't want to, dispite the frequent ads that flickered on the screens just in front of the paddocks.
The Fort Boston Park Circuit was a rather long circuit, with two fast portions and two technical parts. This suited Rémi, a good chance to show how well the Franquin can manage to negociate technical portions he thought to himself.
Surprisingly, the world #1 missed out on a place in the race, Troy Wilkins of LivEng not making the top 28 by almost 0.5 seconds... Perhaps a 1-stop strategy, Rémi thought. But then why did the other LivEng driver manage to equal the track record during the qualifiers, and severely lowered his speed after his pole-clinching time... The car seemed nervy and very light. Perhaps a 2 or even a 3-stop strategy? What was LivEng's aim? Maybe to have Daniels slow down the pack by blocking from the front, allowing Troy's 1-stop strategy to carry him to the front of the pack by 10 laps, and then take advance whilst the other racers refuelled, only to have them slowed down again by Daniels, allowing Troy to pit with time to spare? Anyway, they wouldn't be doing that strategy now that Troy was out. Troy hadn't been happy, that was sure, and Rémi smirked as he thought of the shouts of anger that had accompanied the world champion when he came back to the paddocks.
But if LivEng had managed to get the pole position, it wasn't by much. In fact, it wasn't by any. On the same time with two other drivers, including Roger Stoddard, Stellar's lead pilot, he'd clinched the pole thanks to his number... Perhaps he wouldn't be the man to chase, but rather Stoddard, who would benifit from his team-mate's help to secure points, whilst Daniels was alone against 27 frenzied pilots... As Rémi looked back at the qualifiers, he thought to himself that perhaps the man to chase wouldn't be any of the men in the first 3 lines, or even 5 lines, since they had all finished with times within 0.01 of the track record, indicating that they were probably not very heavily laden with fuel.
Damien was starting on the 6th line, next to Ridgewell of Ashton-Tickford. They had been quite consistently behind the men in front of them, and also quite a bit faster than the guys on line 7. Damien had been pushing the car to the limit, and almost finished in the sand when he attempted to shave off another milisecond by braking even later as he went into the second technical series of bends. He'd be going on a 2-stop strategy, unless something forced a pit stop early in the race, then he'd go for a 3-stop strategy. He liked the car being light, but he knew that Lagaffe wouldn't be outpacing LivEng, Flying Sloths or Hetz va Keshet today. But the Flying Sloths and Hetz va Keshet would be lucky to finish the race. Fast, that was sure. But reliable wasn't wheren't those teams' middle names.
Weiler had barely made the cut. Starting on the line before last, he had only one aim : finish. For his first outing in the Franquin, he wanted to take the team to the end, and even though they might not win, as he thought : if you don't finish, then you'll never win. But he'd been hampered by his 1-stop strategy. He wanted to be sure that he could take advantage of every slip-up made by other teams as they pitted, and recognised that the pits where were most teams lost or won points. He only believed in himself, and his car sometimes, so he wanted to cut down on the pitting, and pit himself with the best drivers instead. He'd been heavy, so the car was a touch more performant in the cornering, especially that really hard right turn right at the end, where most other teams had lost time. But his lack of agressivity was showing, as he entered bends a touch slow, and never went full-out on the accellerator.
We've got ourselves a nice race for tomorrow...

Jeff Jordan was incandescent after qualifying. "I told you this would happen. There are too many people with too similar cars. Look at qualifying. We are so lucky to be on the front row. If Roger hadn't gone to the loo before his qualifying lap the extra four pennyworths of urine would have cost a hundredth of a second - and put him on row 6. Everyone just got out there and slipstreamed. That's what cost Bob - I told him to go out early and set a benchmark. But he was out of sync."
"What are the tactics for tomorrow, Jeff?"
"Not telling. It's a secret."

Reporting Live from the Fort Boston Park circut this is Bruce MacNaughten.
Mooseledge Systems Racing Qualified one of it's two Drivers for it's Inagural Race in the NationStates F1 Grand Prix. Out of the two Drivers J.S. Lafluer was alot quicker and seemed to handle the car just a bit better than his counterpart in Car 17 Jacques Lacroix who finished just outside of the Race with a time of1:25.226-85.226 J.S. Lafluer Finished Qualifing with a best lap of 1:24.131-84.131 Lafluer drives Car 18 and is a Rookie with Mooseledge Racing who still holds cars in the RVF1 Series took it's top two drivers for the NS F1 Grand Prix Series. Lafluer Linage though leads us to why he qualified and raced so well in the Time trials to make the Team. His Father Guillon Lafluer is still one of the best Drivers to ever come out of Rorysville. J.S. had this to say
"Well I felt the car handled the Corners really nicely and I got all the Car had in the Flat out Straightaway This Course has it's tricky points but I seemed to manage them nicely. I think a couple of those Tight Corners could become dangerous when you add the traffic of raceday in there. As for Jaques he had much the same run but I think his trouble happened in that hairpin when his car seemed to get away from him a bit you'll see him in the next race for sure though."
As for Lacroix he had this to say
"Well I seemed to have a few Great runs but I had trouble in the hairpin my car for some reason just wouldn't stay tight eneough for me in that turn We tried a few adjustments it's not the crews fault I'll take the blame on this one."
Well even though he's blaming himself I'll just say I saw his runs and it wasn't him or the crew. Tommorow will be a great Raceday as J.S. Lafluer will race his way into glory. from Bostopia for Sportsnet RV This is Bruce MacNaughten Saying see you on Raceday.

"Boss, can I have a word?"
"Yes, Scott, what is it?"
"I'm just wondering when I get a chance. Bob's not done well in qualifying today and I was much faster in the free sessions. I've been loyal for the last 2 years but not had a sniff of a go."
"You have to be patient, Scott. Bob's a consistent hand. We've got a great chance at winning the constructors' title and it'd be difficult when we have a tyro in the car."
"I've been patient for the past 2 years though. I could have gone elsewhere. And look what happened today! The World Champ DNQs, OK, it was not his fault, but these things happen. And look at Gait and Hasaganov. Both nearly getting pole on their debuts."
"Want to put a bet on, then, Scotty? Do you think they'll do well in the title race?"
"That's not the point, boss. I had other offers. I wanted to stay here because I've put in a lot of work. I think I deserve a chance."
"We'll see, Scott. Look, I promise if Bob does not come up to scratch in the next few races, or gets injured, you will get a drive.
"Or if something happens to Roger."

(Rauter) This is Vic Rauter from TSN racing network, bringing you the results of the qualifying for the Bostopian Grand Prix. Bringing home the pole was Mike Daniels of LEC LivEng Racing. However the major story of the qualifying was the debut of Driver Grahm Gait from Good Car Guys Racing, in only his first grand prix start he missed the pole by a fraction of a second, he will start in the fourth row. Also Good Car Guys other driver also a native of Quakmybush Cameron Troy qualified 25th for the race. Now we got to Bob for a interview with Gait who has just got out of his car.
(Bob) How did that drive feel Grahm
(Grahm) That was amazing I cant belive i did so well

"Well not only that we qualified in 8th and 14th positions. We were in the top 10."
"How?"
"I don't know, ask the mechanic he's smart."
"Mechanic, how did we qualify?"
"We were lucky bastards, we shouldn't have qualifeid but Oleg got one good lucky lap and suddenly we qualified, like I should know."

Fort Boston Park Circuit, Fort Boston, Bostopia
[Jake Varton, Channel 95 Sport] There's the five lights...they're out and it's GOOOOOO! The first ever Bostopian Grand Prix starts with the thunder of the F1 engines as they head towards turn 1!
--Lap 28--
[Nigel Krape] Oh no! That's Adam Teraining pulling up outside Fort Boston Castle! Just look at that smoke coming out of his engine!
[Varton] And Emperor Boston does NOT look pleased with that.
[Krape] And even less pleased with the fact that the Empress has invited him in for a cup of tea!
--Lap 36--
[Jenna Reage] I'm in the pits as in comes Dave Prast for his second and final pitstop! All tyres changed...they can't get the fuel hose off! Oh no, disaster for Prast! He's lost at least 3 seconds there!
[Krape] And he's come back out in 13th place! He was well on for at least third there! Bostopia's dream may just be over!
--Podium--
[Krape] And to present the trophies to the top 3 drivers and the manufacturer's trophy, Emperor Boston!
Boston delivers the trophy to Liam Ridgewell of Aston-Tickford Racing, then to Cameron Troy and Timothée Charette, before the Krytenian anthem plays for the winning driver and team.
[Krape] We now hand back to Gary Jenning in the studio.
[Gary] Yes, thank you Jake. Well, that was the first ever Bostopian Grand Prix, disappointingly not won by a Bostopian driver, but still, a great drive from Ridgewell, finishing 48 seconds ahead of Cameron Troy in second place. Thanks for joining us today in Bostopia, have a good afternoon, and see you next time, for the Galashiels Grand Prix!

They've all made their pit-stops now...barring Ridgewell who takes a temporary lead...he's on a one-stopper by the looks, but his lead of eight seconds is not going to be enough...Charette and Pruitt are tight together in fourth and fifth, behind Johnson in second and Troy, who is driving like a dream, in third...shame about Prast's stop...
...meanwhile Ridgewell continues to lead but Johnson is catching...Ridgewell laps Carson...now heading for the pits...ohhh, Johnson's LOST IT...he tried to lap Carson but the Hetz va Keshet car was going into the pits as well...the Bennett is on fire...safety car is out and pit lane is closed...no-one can get in, there's wreckage all across it, but Ridgewell is already in there...he is going to gain a MASSIVE advantage...
...they're off again, the safety car comes in...Troy leads his first Grand Prix, driving like a veteran...but they've all got to come in again excpt for Ridgewell...if there's no safety car he's got the race won...
Roger Stoddard settled for 7th after a fraught first lap which saw the first three on the grid three abreast into the third corner and none came out cleanly. Stoddard at least regained the track relatively quickly but his competitors were forced to shuffle to the back. Bob Turner concentrated on getting to the finish and on the scoreboard, complaining of understeer.

(Vic) This is Vic Rauter from TSN racing network. It was a very good grand prix today especially for youngster Cameron Troy who finished second in his first ever GP. He had the lead for a lap or two before the evntual winner Liam Ridgewell blew by him, Ridgewell cleary had the dominant car all day. Good Car Guys Racing's other driver, Grahm Gait, wound up a disapointing 15th after locking up the tires many times during the race. Troy is currently second in the drivers standings. Good Car Guys Racing is in 3rd place in the constructers championship. Thank You and Good Night

Reporting Live from the Fort Boston Park Circut this is Bruce MacNaughten.Well the First Race of the season is in the books and Mooseledge Systems Placed 13th not bad considering the problems they had early on with the car. A couple wing adjustments were required after J.S. got a little too close to the wall after a turn. The Race went well all in all for J.S. who showed off his skill as he battled his way back to the 10th spot before dropping to 13th and finished out the race there in 13th. As for the Standings Moosledge Systems is Just 1 point out as Lafluer finished one place out of Points in this race.J.S. was upbeat about things
"Well You know I was trying to end the race early for myself. Thats why I nudged that wall.Talking on a cellphone and Drving is not easy I almost Spilled my Coffee......Ok I know silly excuses get me nothing but good press clippings. In all Seriousness I was quite a bit nervous early on and took that turn just a bit too wide and was lucky to only scrape the wing and not do more damage. after the adjustment The Car handled like a dream and Jaques was on the radio for most of the race he really helped me calm my nerves and When I was able to spring into 10th I was feeling like i could challenge for a higher spot but the cars in front of me a couple behind me just had better stuff today thats all there is to it."
The Next Race on Schedule is in Galashiels the Famous Green Ring. Qualifing for that race is on the 12th.See you there for Raceday Central this is Bruce MacNaughten saying good night from Bostopia

The Green Ring, Galashiels.
[Gary Jenning] Dave Prast today scored his second top 10 qualifying position of the season, coming .23 seconds behind the first place driver, Wentland's Roger Stoddard. However, Adam Teraining will be disappointed with qualifying in only 15th position. Bostopia F1 will be looking to pick up their first points of the season in tomorrow's race, and continue the good finish to last season.

(Vic) This is Vic Rauter from TSN racing network bringing you the qualifying results from the Galashiels Grand Prix. The qualifying was not as close as last weeks from the Bostopia Grand Prix, however it will still quite exciting. Good Car Guys Racing's two drivers both had good runs in qualifying, and Grahm Gaits 2nd top 10 starting place, in only two career races. Gait will start 9th along side René Funès from De Lex Racing, and Troy, who lost out on the pole buy 7 one thousandeths of a second will roll of on the inside of Row 3. Good Car Guys Racing will look to improve on its 3rd place in the constructers championship, while both drivers will attempt to score their first wins in their careers.

Scott Stoddard was fast again in free practice. But still not a sniff of a drive. "I dunno, Bill," he said to his manager Bill Webber. "I think I'm gonna be kicking my heels for the season."
"Don't count on it, Scotty," said Webber. "I think you'll be driving sooner than you think."
***
Official qualifying and Roger Stoddard was right on it. Immediately quick, right at the end of the session he banged in the pole time. Almost the icing on the cake as he was heading for the front row anyway.
For Bob Turner, however, things were a bit different. His first lap out was ruined because he ran out of fuel towards the end and had to be towed back to the pits. "Bit forgetful today, eh, chaps?"
Half-an-hour into the session and he still had not set a time because of this. Refuelled and ready to go out, he was called in to the weigbridge for pre-practice weighing. That took another 10 minutes. Back on track and amongst traffic. Flying lap was slow, he dived back into the pits for a wing adjustment. Enough time however to go out, do a warm-up and then a flying lap. Except there were no tools for the job. "What's going on!!!" demanded Jordan. "They've been REMOVED, boss...they were here..." It was Bill Webber who found them. By which time there were only 4 minutes left. Turner did his best on cold tyres and unfamiliar settings but the traffic was too heavy and he forlornly pulled into the pits to watch Roger, who had gone out just at the right time, cement pole.
***
"Ask him for a drive now, Scotty..." said Webber.
"Er, I don't think so, Bill...I think Jeff's about to combust."

Bob Turner was invited to add colour commentary to the WTV broadcast. "Glad to be here, Bob?" asked main anchor Bob Wilson. "No," replied Turner.
But Turner won over the audience with his candid and acerbic comments on the competitors. "Look at Pruitt," he remarked as the Ukrops car went off, "she's driving like a girl." On the backmarkers he remarked "Lagaffe Motor Sports Division? Must be Division 3."
With 13 laps to go Roger Stoddard was in a comfortable lead and heading for his third Grand Prix win. Then it happened. "Oh-oh, engine go boom..." deadpanned Turner. The WRM motor had let go in comprehensive fashion and was out. So too were Browne and Weiler, as neither heeded the yellow and red striped flag and ended up in the gravel one lap later.
The LivEng team romped to high positions as the WTV team looked on morosely. "See you next race, Bob?" asked Wilson. "I hope not..." said Turner.

This is Vic Rauter from TSN racing network bringing you the results from the Galasheils Grand Prix, It was an exciting race today, as there was many lead changes, and many spectacular passes. Good Car Guys Racings two drivers both had good finishes. Cameron Troy finished 5th and Grahm Gait finished 8th, scoring his first points of his career. Troy assumed the point lead because of Liam Ridgewells 12th place finish. Troy sits 2 points ahead of ridgewell with 28. Gait sits in 14th place with 5 points.

"I have embarrassed myself, my team, and my country", Bill Barnacle of Flying Camel Racing has been quoted in the racing press. All this reporter can say is yes Bill, you have, but the season is still young and there is always next week. Besides, for a new outfit, the Camels aren't looking completely hopeless.

"...in sports news, even though we have a bit of a lull in our footy action with the 2099 domestic season being over and World Cup qualifying yet to begin, Bedistan still has a shot at international glory in the F1GP. The Bedistani team, Bennett F1, composed of Thomas Johnson and Dennis Wilson, have unfortunately been mediocre at best in the first two races, having achieved two and seven points respectively, putting the team in eighth place in the constructors' championship to date. Wilson barely achieved a top-ten finish in the Galashiels event, with Johnson coming right behind him three seconds later. Troy Wilkins of LEC LivEng Racing won the event and is third overall in the championship; Cameron Troy of Quakmybush currently leads the standings."

With 10 minutes to go in the session Bob Turner was not only safely on the grid but contending for pole. "I don't know what's happened to the car, Jeff, but it feels pretty darn good."
But Roger Stoddard was floundering.
Bill Webber was late into the pits to meet Scott Stoddard. "Hiya, Scotty...time for your drive yet? I bet Bob's still having trouble."
"No, he's heading for the second row...my brother's looking like he'll miss the race..."
"Eh????"
"Yeah, there was a problem with Bob's car earlier so he took the spare. Roger's engine's blown so he's in Bob's car. But he cannot seem to get any pace out of it, it's feeling weird..."
"Ohhh..."
Jeff Jordan came bustling out of the pits. "Stop fiddling with that thing...put Roger in Bob's car just to get a time."
Roger Stoddard therefore got in the number 4 Stellar, hastily re-numbered as 3, and set out for a warm-up lap. He had one shot at a fast lap but so did everyone else on the grid and the traffic was chaotic. But he managed to scrape something together to get on the grid. The team rejoiced - they were in it.
"Great stuff, Bill! Bill?"
Webber had vanished.
***
Later that night mechanics were stripping down Bob Turner's car - the one Roger Stoddard was going to use for the race. They noticed that the balance weights under the chassis were slightly out of kilter. A quick change and the car felt a lot better under race morning warm up. "What've you done to it, lads?" said Roger. "Feels like a different car."

LeCroix - Poor season ends now
Team won't be left with mediocre results
Scott LeCroix has taken a stand - after both he and number one driver James KeFlinger had subpar results in this years F1GP season, both drivers have openly declared that they will step up for the remainder of the season - which isn't all that unlikely for LeCroix, who tied qualification for 1st in Kelse yesterday.
The season has been especially bad for KeFlinger, who failed to qualify for the previous race, and has been down on his luck recently. Gone are the days when Twin Crescent and only one other team would score 80% of the points in a season - a new era is coming quickly to F1GP, and TCR is having difficulty keeping up.
The car is, on paper, still the fastest. But mechanical issues, poor driving outright, and the catching up of other teams could leave Twin Crescent without a championship again, this time without even coming close.
"This is our time now. We've been in it for too long to just go down without a fight. I went for pole [yesterday], and I'm expecting that effort out of everyone in the team." LeCroix, notably upset with the team's (lack of) results, spewed his emotions in a press conference post qualifying yesterday. "[J. KeFlinger] is too good to settle for midpack or less every race day. He isn't happy with it, and I certanly am not."
"He's right in every sense of the word," KeFlinger said in the press confrence. "I'm being paid too much money to be happy with taking this team nowhere. I have to bring results, or the team will be perfectly correct in releasing me. I can't let the team, the fans... my Country down. I have to step up and drive like I'm capable of." KeFlinger's contract, running for 3 more seasons, is worth 40 million minerets - making him one of the highest paid racers today. Although he and LeCroix, hired for 1 more season, had a breakout season 2 years ago, leading the team to 2nd in the constructor's championship, they have been unable to retain that consistency and success.

"Right", said Jeff Jordan, "let's start again. The SR03 is clearly rubbish so let's get a new car on the board. Right now."
"Hang on, Jeff," said Bob Turner. "I scored some points. It's not all bad, it's just in want of development work. Let's try some new aero or something."
"No, no, it's fundamentally flawed. We can have pace over a lap but it drops off too much."
"Jeff, that will divert resources away from development. Is that entirely wise?"
"Do we have a choice? We were within a race of winning the title last year. Now we're stuck in midfield."
"These things can change pretty quickly. Just need a 1-2."
"They don't all change, do they? LivEng is still number one."
"Yeah, but look how tight they are with the organizers..."

OOC: Firstly, let me reject any accusations of result-fixing (even if the above was not meant as such, I think it's better to get it out of the way). Secondly, a 1-2 scores a team 45 points, while a 3-4 scores 25, and a 5-6 scores 18 (which is what a 1-2 would earn you IRL).

[Griffis] Seven giraffes also involved in the incident were not harmed. Moving on to the sports, we now cross over to Gary Jenning, at the Virginia Nova International Raceway, for news following today's Grand Prix!
Virginia Nova International Raceway, Virginia Nova
[Jenning] Thanks, Greg. Well folks, Bostopia F1 seems to have refound last seasons pace, with a 5 - 7 result. Adam Teraining finished ahead of team mate Dave Prast for the first time this season, something he'll undoubtably be happy about. While it's not as far up the results table as they'd like, it's still respectable for the team. Next week, we're at the Mount Melanis Raceway, in the Candrian Empire. Join us then, but for now, back to Greg in Fort Boston.

For the first time in a few races Jeff Jordan had a smile on his face. He had personally operated the crusher that destroyed the SR03 race cars. Rubbish. Total rubbish.
The SR04 was nearly ready now. Launch it in the next race. See how it does. There were one or two innovations that he thought were quite radical. So long as the scrutes passed them, of course.

[Varton] And there's Dave Prast starting his flying lap!
[Krape] He's had a very fast final corner on his out lap, and has practically flown down the start finish straight...
[Varton] That's a great first sector by Prast! He's faster by a quarter of a second!
[Krape] And heading down toward the second sector! Yes! Prast gains some time, he's storming this track! Absolutely belting it round!
[Varton] And coming round into the final corner...OH NO! He's ran slightly wide! Can he still do it? YES! PRAST GOES FIRST!
--Post-Qualifying--
[Reage] I'm in the pitlane with Dave Prast, who's on pole position for tomorrow's race! Dave, great lap, great performance from the car! What are your thoughts?
[Prast] Well, being on pole is great, not only for me and the team but for the country as well, hopefully we'll get lots of Bostopians in the crowd tomorrow, and I hope Adam and I'll deliver results!
[Reage] Adam, 5th, you've got a great shot.
[Adam] Yeah, I get more power out of my setup, so hopefully I'll be able to blitz the competition on the straights and get victory.
[Reage] Well, back home, I know the country's cheering you on! Back to the Gary Jenning in the studio.

This is Vic Rauter from the TSN racing network. The qualifying for the grand prix of the Candrian Empire was held today. It was an impressive bounce back for Cameron Troy from Good Car Guys Racing today. He did not qualify for the last race, and he qualified in the 3rd row for this race. However GCG other driver Grahm Gait did not make the field.

Bill Webber returned to the track for the shakedown. He approached Scott jubilantly. "Time to ask again for a drive, eh, Scotty?"
"Why now?"
"After Bob DNQ'd again."
"Er, he didn't!"
"What? He was floundering when I left."
"He was, but with a few minutes of the session remaining the techies re-checked his car. Turned out the rear wing had been mounted incorrectly. They re-set it and he went out in a white fury! He's in 4th! It was brilliant."
"Oh, er, great..."
***
Come the race and Bob Turner was floundering. Backwards and backwards and backwards. Stone last he pulled into the pits. "Bloody thing's undriveable, Jeff...what's happened to it?"
After a few minutes' inspection it was noticed that a trackrod had been bent. No wonder it was undriveable. Nothing that could be done and he was pulled out of the race.
Jeff Jordan was ballistic. These things kept happening. What was going on?

[Varton] Wilkins wins for LEC LivEng Racing here in The Candrian Empire at the Mount Melanis track! And there's Carson of Hetz va Keshet!
The TV cameras switch to images of Dave Prast finishing his lap.
[Varton] And there's Prast going into the final corner, no running wide this time Dave! Yes! There he goes to finish third! Just look at the mechanics on the pitwall, they are ecstatic! And there's Adam Teraining hanging over onto the track too, a disappointing race for him...Wait, Prast's pulling up just past the line...what's he doing? Teraining's on the track with his helmet! Well look at that, Adam Teraining is sat on Dave Prast's side pod for the victory lap!
[Krape] That's a great image, though Adam won't want Dave to accelerate too hard on the straights!
--Post Race Interviews--
[Reage] Dave, Adam, a wonderful show there. But firstly, Dave, what a great race!
[Dave] Yeah, you know, I started off well with a low fuel load, so we had to go for a two stop strategy, and it was paying off until the safety car came out after my first stop.
[Adam] Thank goodness that wasn't me!
[Dave] Still, thanks for the oil on the track Ad, haha.
[Adam] No problem buddy.
[Reage] Adam, what happened to the car?
[Adam] Well you saw the engine blowout, we're still looking at the problem but we should have it sorted soon.
[Reage] So, any plans for after-race celebrations?
[Dave] Oh yeah, we're about to run into the Bostopian fans in the crowd, then head out on the town later on. Hey, can I get a marker pen?
A pen appears from off-screen, and Dave writes on Jenna Reage's arm.
[Dave] There's my phone number, call me!
Dave and Adam then proceed to run toward the crowd, waving a massive Bostopian flag over their heads.
[Reage] Well, this is a flattered Jenna Reage from the Bostopian team garages, back to Gary in the studio!

F1GP authorities order cars to run with restrictors
The F1GP authorities have ordered all cars taking part in any session of the Rorysville Grand Prix to run with restrictors, after it was realised that the safety of drivers, track marshalls and spectators would be at risk if the circuit was used without proper safety measures.

[Jenning] Yes, hello thank you Greg! Well, after the heroics at the last Grand Prix, a bad start here for Dave Prast, who's not qualified for the first time in his career. He appeared to clip one of the slidepads on his out lap, and damaged his car's right-front wishbone.
However, Adam Teraining has set himself up for some points by qualifying 8th. Good luck to the Bostopian national side in the World Cup qualifiers today, and back to Greg in the studio.

TCR Throwing lost season away
Using rest of year for powerplant development
TCR, in the wake of qualifying midpack in Rorysville and the apparent failure of Twin Crescent to produce under the LE-run F1GP season, has stated that the rest of the races of the season will be used as real-world development for the drivetrain of next year's car.
"It's a shame we have to do this, but this season's already a waste," James KeFlinger said in a press release. "Troy Wilkins has scored almost 3 times more points than our team has. He's going to win the championship in a few more races."
Indeed, LEC has enjoyed unprecedented success in this season, poised for back to back constructor's and driver's titles. However, after coming no less than third for 3 seasons, TCR may have to settle for midpack or less in every field this year.
"I don't like it one bit, but that's the way the hammer falls." Scott LeCroix, in the same press release, expressed his disgust with the way the season was going. "Sometimes, things don't go the way we want them to. Too many people put effort into this season to watch it go down like this."
The new powerplant and transmission could indeed salvage the season. Although no true figures were released either last year or this year, the engine is said to produce an average of 15% more power over a range of RPM's, and 5% more at peak RPM. The Transmission is said to shift .015-.02 seconds faster than the current model. Neither of these sets, however, have undergone the necessary testing to establish whether they could last a whole race, which is what the remainder of this season will determine.

Bill Webber was looking pleased before qualifying. "Soon have you in a drive, Scotty..."
"Why, Bill? Have you had a word with the gaffer?"
"No - I am sure that after today he will be keen on replacing one of his drivers."
***
Bill Webber was looking devastated after qualifying. Bob Turner was on the front row and in a prime position to win his first Grand Prix. He had adapted well to the tight circuit and was brushing the very twigs in parts. The debonair driver was relaxed and joking in the press conference.
But Roger Stoddard had suffered the indignity of his first ever failure to qualify. Roger was aghast and Scott was sympathising. "Roger, what happened?"
"I don't know. For some reason I had great difficulty on focussing for the corners. There was something wrong with the cockpit screen but they could not get a new one fitted in time."
Scott blushed as his free-practice accident had wrecked the only spare car and the screen had been damaged by a winch. "Oh, jeez...I'm so sorry, bro..."
"That's OK, bro, not your fault that the car was rubbish..."
***
Bob Turner retired to his hotel room the night before the race. Pit popsie on each arm. Nothing like a bit of nocturnal keep fit, eh?
Besides, he missed out on the night before because he was Up To Something. Suspicious about the treatment he was receiving all season he snuck down to the garage to see if there was anything wrong with the car. A quick surreptitious check and he satisfied himself that there was nothing obvious. But just to make sure he swapped around the seats and racing numbers. Let's see what happens.
As he left the pits, he saw a loitering figure who looked a bit like some driver agent, but he could not be sure.

"Well Camel, it seems the restrictor plates helped you to your best qualifying and finish of the season, not to mention your first points," This Reporter.
"Yes, yes, it seems it increased my performance dramatically, and I'm glad to grab some points this season. For a while, I thought Bill would be carrying the team by himself," replied Camel Carson, "They didn't seem to sit well with Bill though. It's nice to be on the board though. Hopefully this will springboard the team to a strong finish."
"Good luck with that." This Reporter.

This is Vic Rauter from the TSN racing network. What started out as a good season for GCG racing has turned into a horrible one. DNQs, DNFs, its just brutal. The team has not scored one single championship point since the second race. Cameron Troy, who once held the championship lead has not finished in the top 20 in quite a while. Now a championship is basiaclly out of the question but they need momentum.

"And it's GO!!!! And Johnson has stalled!!!! His arms are flailing and the grid is darting around to try to avoid him...they have all missed him...some brilliant driving there...but Turner has sprinted into the lead...and with the dodging there's no-one near him!"
Bob Turner was leading a Grand Prix for the first time. He led lap 1 and lap 2. And lap 3. And lap 4.
He pulled out a 20 second lead. And he had a heavier fuel load. When Hasganov pitted he decided to follow suit the next lap. And emerged 23 seconds to the good.
It was easy. The chequer flew a quarter of an hour short of 2 and Jeff Jordan's cap went flying. "Turner wins!!!! A wonderful win for the veteran!!"
***
The interesting thing about the win was the effect it had on the team. Suddenly more attention was being paid to Turner than wunderkid Roger Stoddard. And the fans at the Davenant circuit flocked to support the laid-back Turner who found himself with a shot at 2nd in the title race - Roger Stoddard was nowhere.
Roger was getting more and more frantic in practice. He was trying all sorts of odd combos in practice. Which cost him. He went off 20 minutes into the final session and wrote off his car - almost writing himself off in the process. He had to sit out the session and watched with increasing angst as drivers improved their times...Troy set his fastest time with 10 minutes to go, Owen pulled a lap from nowhere to move from DNQ...then Hunter and Prast went around together and recorded similar times...surely he could not DNQ at his home GP? Then Gilchrist put one in and he was 2 off the bubble...then the flag came out as Liam Ridgewell was just too late to stick in a lap and missed out under the 107% rule. Phew. Back row but he was in.

Cameron Troy finished 21st and did not score any points. With his finish of 11th and a season average finish of 14th GCG have signed Gait to a 5 year contract extension. There is also rumor that if Troy does not score any more points during the year Gait will become the Number 1 dirver for GCG. The next race is the Oliverrian grand prix.

Jeff Jordan was looking forward to his home race. Roger had been poor in practice so he was going for a radical no-stop strategy. But coming off a win Bob Turner was full of confidence.
Then it was the race. An odd one. Wet-dry-wet. Timing of pit stops was crucial. Bob Turner did better than most, coming in a fine 3rd. Roger Stoddard was ragged, all over the place. Off the track more often than on it. The no-stop strategy was pointless in the weather and the extra weight screwed him.
But still one of the Stellars on the podium at home was not bad. Close one, too, just behind Daniels.

INVESTIGATION INTO CAR NO 4
***
"90 seconds? What on earth do you think you're doing?"
"Mr Jordan, your car has been given a 90 second penalty. We have found an illegal part on your car."
"What illegal part?"
"A drilled gear lever. This is unsafe."
"What are you on about? Our gear levers are not drilled, there's no real weight saving."
"The scrutineers have discovered that the lower portion of the gear lever has been perforated. For such a flagrant breach of safety the only sanction is disqualification. However as it is your home Grand Prix and given your safety record we have decided to be lenient."
"We do not have drilled levers!!!"
"This is the one from the car."
It was indeed drilled. "This is not one of our parts!! Someone's having a laugh."
"I'm afraid we have video evidence of it being removed. I am truly sorry."
"Bloody hell, you're in LivEng's pocket. You've never forgiven us for that incident last year with Pruitt. And we had nothing to do with it."
"That's nonsense."
"Come on, then. How come they are so dominant? They've barely lifted a bloody finger."
"Their car suits this season's tracks more than any other."
"Pfft, they're always cosying up to you. It's all a bit dodgy. You pick on me? I've a good mind to jack the bloody lot in. It's a bloody conspiracy."
Jordan stormed off.
Hmm, thought Bill Webber. Will this annoy Bob Turner enough to make him walk?

Dave Prast takes off his cap as the Bostopian anthem is played, then he and the other drivers are presented with their trophies. The dignitaries make their escapes, before champagne is sprayed over the drivers and the Bostopia F1 mechanics below in the pit lane.

[Reage] Dave! A great race! How did you make up those 16 positions?
[Prast] It was just a great setup, and, you know, I just had to keep the car on the track. The car was ALWAYS going to win the race.
[Reage] Good answer, Dave. A bad race for Adam though, going out on the 56th lap with an engine failure?
[Prast] Yeah, you know, but Dave's not that hung up about it, we're all going out celebrating tonight, then watching the Bostopia - Green Wombat game, should be a great night for Bostopia!
[Reage] We hope so. Of course, that match is live right here on Channel 95! Back to the studio.

KeFlinger qualifies 2nd in Oliverry; new car response "wicked".
KeFlinger blazes just under HvK's Yoni Carson
James KeFlinger, in the newly-upgraded TCR 451 B, broke into 2nd in qualifying for the Oliverry Grand Prix, under a thousanth of a second below Yoni Carson in pole position. Interestingly, LEC is out of the first two rows, as Troy Wilkins, dominating as he's been throughout this season, is left out on row 3.
Scott LeCroix, apparently unused to the new dynamics of the car, failed to crack the top 20, being nearly 3 seconds off of Carson's pole pace, nearly in danger of the 107% cutoff instituded this year.
Despite the inconsistancy this year, it seems that the new drivetrain and suspension setups are breathing new life into this team, as they've begun to finish in the points more often; although it's a far cry from LEC's chokehold on the series.
"It handles like a demon. It's easily the fastest, hardest turning thing I've ever ridden - you can't control it like the last few F1 cars. This thing goes from straights to turns like the M40 (an active suspension-downforce laden prototype racecar that, shortly before it's intended debut in Ribald outside of Petronas during the DPS, was banned from racing after breaking the lap record by 12 seconds during testing)."
KeFlinger beat his personal best on this circuit by over 2 seconds, during which he nearly broke the track record. The record, tied by Yoni Carson, stands at 1.12.932, set by Luigi Nett.

Bill Webber sidled in.
"Short of a driver, Mr Jordan?"
"Of course. Get Scott, I'll put him in."
"Ahh, would that it were so easy, Mr Jordan."
"EHH????"
"Well, Scotty's contract does not cover racing, only testing. I think he's entitled to a little pay rise before he signs, don't you?"

"Exactly. Which is why Scotty comes so cheap. Only an extra hundred K."
"What? What? What????"

"Well, it appears that a, um, friend of mine spiked my drink. It appears that someone wanted me to miss the race. I wonder who that could be?"

"Oh, I just swapped drinks and hung around outside for a while. Let the guilty party show himself."
"Who were you drinking with last night then?"
"Oh, just an acquaintance. Hello, Bill."

TCR: World Cup?
Corporate brass suggests next season not conflict with World Cup
Harald Bedford, board member of Applied Electronics, one of the two major corporations behind Twin Crescent Racing, has suggested in an interview that the next F1GP season be held after any major sporting events, such as the current soccer World Cup, which draws in major crowds and national attention.
"Yes, I think F1 racing, on an international level, is in it's infancy. It's not ready to take on international football for the world spotlight. To schedual next season while any other major global event is in full swing could mean subpar performances next year, and that's not what this sport is about. What made this sport so successful it's first two seasons was the level of competition that was in it; teams regularly battled for the top spot, which changed weekly. Now, with these other major events going on, the nations that could be truly great are focused elsewhere entirely, leaving what could have been great teams and great competition non-existant."

KeFlinger wins in Oliverry
Season turning up for #1 driver, team; LeCroix finishes 5th
James KeFlinger has essentially ressurected his dismal season with a win in Oliverry this morning, as both he and Scott LeCroix finished in the points to keep TCR's hopes of ending the season on a highnote alive. This is Twin Crescent's first win this season; the latest win by the team during an F1 season. Despite a painstakingly slow start this year, TCR is still, mathematically, alive - if KeFlinger wins every race this season, he can take the championship, provided that the powerful Troy Wilkins and LEC score no points, a near impossibility. TCR has had better results overall since it began testing the new drivetrain setup, which bodes very well for next year.

Grahm Gait crashed. The team and both drivers are now both mathematically elimated from the championships. The team is looking for momentum now.

LEC LivEng Racing look to seal both titles at home
LEC LivEng Racing are in perfect position to claim both the drivers' and team's titles at home at the Orean Desert Circuit, which is the next race, after only two drivers and teams were left in the running following the Vuam and Isma Grand Prix. Only Yoni Carson of Hetz va Keshet can take the title away from defending champion Troy Wilkins, who has 40 more points. Similarly, only Carson's team can take the team title away from LEC LivEng Racing.
Driver title scenarios:
If Wilkins fails to finish in the points, Carson must achieve at least a 2nd to stay in the title hunt. A 3rd place finish would gain him 15 points, and if Wilkins fails to score points in Bedistan and Carson wins the race, Wilkins would still win the driver's title despite the two being level on points, due to the number of races won.
If Carson fails to finish in the points, Wilkins wins outright.
If Wilkins gains 10 points (4th), regardless of where Carson finishes, Wilkins wins the title.

This is Vic Rauter from the TSN racing network bringing you the results of the Vuam and Isma Grand Prix. It was a disapointing day for GCG racing as both drivers crashed out. Cameron Troy blew a front left tire on lap 23 and went slamming into a wall at nearly 180 mph. Fortunatly he was okay. Troy finished 25th. On lap 62 Grahm Gait was making a pass for the lead to take it away from Bob Barnacle. Barnacle did not see Gait and closed the door on him, sending both drivers crashing into the tire barriers. Gait finished 19th. The team will look to improve its position in the Constructers title, and hopefully get the drivers some good finishes.

Dissapointing day at Vuam and Isma
KeFlinger 5th, LeCroix Midpack - TCR out of championship race
James KeFlinger and Scott LeCroix failed to gather enough points to stay in the championship run this weekend, as Yoni Carson won and Troy Wilkins came in 3rd, enough to solidify their positions and exlude all other teams from a possible win in both the Constructors and Drivers championships. Twin Crescent is set for it's worse finish in team standings, at 4th, far better than the 8th it was saddled with at the middle of the season.
However, considering that no results were expected all year, this could be a good sign. The car's drivetrain for next year has been readied with a half year of real world testing, giving it the upper hand for next year's competition. And, since the cars were indeed competitive with highly experimental drivetrains, it seems that next year, in overall improved vehicles, the cars could challenge for the win.
During the offseason, it seems that teams, including Twin Crescent, will again petition for fewer laps. This year there was definately less races with 80-90 laps; a far cry from the older seasons, but the teams are petitioning for less laps to allow faster cars. Faster cars could lead to more overtaking and stiffer on-track competition, reducing the pit strategy involved. Their position is an appeal to the audience's need for power, but isn't expected to be significantly considered by F1GP.

Carson, Wilkins set up for shootout at LE
Yoni Carson and Troy Wilkins, both the only drivers capable of winning the driver's championship (with LEC's Wilkin's the favorite and points leader), all qualified within the top 3 - Yoni got pole and Wilkins second row. If Wilkins finishes the race in the points, the season is effectively over.
TCR can still pull out acceptable team results with a finish in the points, as Austin Tickford Racing is only 2 points ahead of the team. However, with the qualifying that KeFlinger and LeCroix went through, it seems unlikely.

EDIT: Jim Owen failed to qualify, but he's listed as out on lap 1. Unless Cas clears it up I think you can assume it was a quote/copy/paste error.

[Griffis] And now with news on Bostopia F1's performance at the Orean Desert Circuit, we cross over to Gary Jenning
[Jenning] Thanks Greg, yes, a great day for Bostopia F1 with Dave Prast's win putting a slight dampener on the home crowds who were searching for a home win to crown LEC Racing's championship winning season. However, Dave Prast has once again won, and this can only be good for next season's chances. Over to Jenna Reage who is with Dave Prast.
[Reage] Dave, another sparkling performance, and another podium! You lapped all but one driver, and finished two seconds ahead of Oleg Hasanagov, how are you feeling?
[Prast] Well, certain to say I'm feeling pretty good. Yeah, sure, LEC Racing have had an exceptional season, but I took what they certainly wanted today, a home win. We didn't win over in Fort Boston, but, there's always next season, and hopefully next season will be a championship season for us. We need to make small improvements, I hear Adam's planning on copying some areas of my car but otherwise there's just the usual changes to make, better aero, a better engine, but that's a season-in, season-out change that everyone will be making.
[Reage] Well, there's still one race left in Bedistan, let's not get too ahead.
[Prast] That's true, hopefully we'll win there, it's an interesting track.
[Reage] ...I'm getting word from Greg back in the studio we have some breaking news over in Bostopia, sorry Dave, back to Fort Boston.

This Reporter - "Well boys, it seems the Flying Camel Racing Team has found it difficult to find any kind of real consistancy this season. Any reason for that?"
Bill - "Well, I think since we are a new side, we have done a reasonable enough job, but of course we are always looking to improve."
Camel - "Yes, I agree with Bill on this one. Things have by no means been as dismal as they could have been this season, us being a new team and all."
Apologies, I had minor issues copying and pasting the names on the cars. The proper names are now in the proper places.

Countdown to Bedistan
With no real competition left, teams may use last race as testing
With the GP at Bedistan fast approaching, and the constructors and drivers championships already decided, teams may use the final race of the season to test new technologies, as Twin Crescent did midway through the season. This is the first season that the championship was truely decided before the season was over, and the reaction that all the teams may have to it is unknown.
No word has been given on the racing conditions at the track, as no team is officially there yet.

It should have been the greatest day in Bob Turner's life. A win from pole took him to the top 4 of the World Drivers' Championship. A second Grand Prix win for the debonair veteran in a season that had seen him revive his dormant ability.
But he could not celebrate on the podium. Not after what had happened in the race.
Roger Stoddard was doing OK, heading for points, when he went to lap Mike Daniels, uncharacteristically off the pace. The blue flags came out and Daniels obligingly moved off the racing line to let the rampaging Stoddard through.
Only Stoddard seemed not to notice. He continued on a wide arc and made no move to avoid the LivEng car.
Within a second the beautiful blue dream machine had become a missile. Daniels spun harmlessly on one side of the track. The Stellar flew over to the other side, dug in nose first and cartwheeled into oblivion on the other side.
The race was stopped whilst the rescue crews took Stoddard out of the wrecked car. He was helicoptered away to seek medical care at one of Bedistan's finest hospitals.
Turner took the champagne on the podium but did not spray it. There was no news as to Roger's condition.
In the paddock, Scott Stoddard was beside himself...
