RL World Cup hiatus

The world Cup of Soccer in RL will be on from June 9th to July 9th, drawing over half the world to be glued to their TV screens. With NS only being around since 2003 this will be the first World Cup in RL NS has seen. Upon this, I think that any major competitions (World Cup, Cherry Cup, U21WC, NSCL, etc;) should be put off until at least June 10th. This will give people time to watch their homeland on TV without the rush of trying to get an RP in at the last second. So give some opinions, get some discussion going, and enjoy the World Cup.

I don't see what the problem is, matches only last for 90 mins, that leaves umm, 22 and 1/2 hours left in the day:d

I think it's good idea. I'd have trouble watching RL soccer and writing RPs at the same time ... because then I'd go watch the next game!
It all depends on where you live. If you're in Europe, then the cup matches are in the afternoon and early evening. In the USA, early morning to early afternoon and in Australia, they know the scores already becuase its a day ahead there. (sorry if'n i left any major group out) SO if you RP during those times of day then it would, Personally since i Ususally start RP'ing at 1130pm Eastern Standard Time (0530 UMT) its not gonna be a problem for me.
I see no real reason to postpone competitions. As has been pointed out, watching RL matches doesn't take up all that much time. Plus, having the real thing going on may even fuel players' creativity and enthusiasm.

I'm not sure about all of you other sports RPers, but I generally only dedicate 30 minutes to an hour to the NSWC. I don't understand how the RLWC will infringe on this time as Tilean Free States has already put so brilliantly:

Plus, the time of the year at question (June 9th-July 9th) is usually the time in which many still-in-school users have the most free time to RP in such things as the NSWC. I think you know how I voted. :)

As for the WC question, it doesn't really affect me - I do most of my NSing during working hours (naughty me!) and the World Cup organisers were kind enough to schedule Englands group matches around me and my fellow office shirkers.

I used to NS at work, actually. Such was the life of a grunt. :p
Now that I actually have responsibilities at work, I don't have nearly as much time for NS as I used to.
