A return to Democracy: Amnesty & hope

St Dominic
28-05-2006, 03:12
The sky was grey again over the ruined buildings of the Capital. Yet just as sunlight broke through the clouds, so to the signs of rebuilding shone from the ruins. Construction was slow, but steady. Dominion hadn’t yet but would one day regain its formal glory.

In the grand council room, matters had been finally eked out. Officials had been filing in and out over many months. Many had left angry, others confused. Most however had seen wisdom in the proposition. (Even if they had debated it loudly)
Anne Blake had avoided seeing foreign diplomats or the such-like during the discussions; they seemed only to complicate matters with their own understandings of the situation.

Behind the grand marble council table Anne Blake sat without a smile. She still wore her Commanders uniform, but now it had much finer gold trim. She still felt that her tunic collar was too high, but no cut of the uniform had yet alleviated the problem.
Seeing your home in ruins can change a person, but that would be a glib understanding of reasons behind the change in policy.
Now indeed the fluttering idea had indeed creped inside her mind when she had watched the bombers pounding to oblivion the urban districts of the town she had loved so well. But in her heart, in that place in your mind you can’ hide from; Anne knew that it was the entirety of the thing that had made her mind up. She wouldn’t wake up every morning and look into the mirror and see a woman who had allowed this to happen, she wouldn’t be the woman who allowed goodness to die.

It had taken longest to get the captured elderly rebel General Corban onside. He’d assumed it was some type of ploy, a trick to turn him. Anne had felt filthy when her former schoolgirl hero had called her a ‘backstabbing murderer’, the worst part was when she realized he had a point.

Now things were coming together. She’d used her fearsome temper and reputation to break her officers into line and to bring dissents into the marble-table discussions.
She’d used that ruthless streak to be able to announce hope.

Sons and Daughters of our land.
Civil blood makes civil hands unclean, or so the Bard said. I believe we can all see adequate testimony to the truth of that statement around us if we chose to see it.
Alas my poor country has seen horrors. Civil unrest, terrorism and ethnic violence to name but a few.
That is why we need progress. That is why we need democracy
Only peace can break the circle of violence that would drag our land into perpetual chaos, only together can we end the strife that surrounds us.

But today, when I talk about together I do not mean as it has been used in the past. We shall be together as free people, rather than forcibly united under the whip. Christian, Communist, Royalist, Statist, Ásatrú, Voxist, Wicca-Danuist;we must all work toegther.

So, to achieve this aim and to foster an atmosphere that will make a democratic future possible I declare that as of midnight all those involved in recent events will receive an Amnesty. Amnesty is given to those who I called ‘rebels’ with the hope they will join the country in building towards the final goal – Democratic elections by the end of the year.
To ferment democracy, also as of midnight all restrictions upon domestic travel are lifted and all prohibitions regarding religious gatherings are declared null. Application of the foreign race laws are suspended till further notice.

Democracy has no place for those of a military inclination. Thus with the swearing in of our democratic government, I will resign and will seek no Office. What was not achieved with violence let it be done with peace. So I swear.

We will soon be asking for international assistance to ensure the freedom of the coming election process.

Anne Blake
Commander. Presiding Officer of the Protectorate.

Official Announcement of the Allanean Government

We endorse this new process. With the permission of the government of the Protectorate, we will deploy 100 electoral observers throughout the nation of St. Dominic. We hope that this will be sufficient to ensure that there will be no major electoral fraud.

Official Announcement of the Liberty Coalition

We are pleased with this development. We would like to have the permission of the Protectorate Government to send instructors to teach a Political Activism 101 course to the citizens of St. Dominic – regardless of affiliation. Information about the course attached.

* * *

To the offices of the St. Dominic government arrived large cardboard packages, containing the text of the curriculum of the proposed course. It was a workshop-based system, which would be offered to all Dominicans – even Blake supporters who wished to attend. It explained, in graphic and gratuitous detail, all the working of an electoral democracy and the acts one needed to take up to win.

It spoke of respect to the political opponent – and it also explained, to anybody who wished to learn, how to organize rallies and pickets, how to run party meetings and ask your supporters for donations, how to make the best posters and flyers, and how to rally your base to the voting booth on the final day. And best of all, apart from extolling the virtues of the democratic method, it was generally nonpartisan.

Generations of upstanding citizens have dreamt of a new and peaceful Saint Dominic, free from exploitation and oppression and on friendly terms with all nations..... this is what we have all fought and risked our lives for. This is the common desire of all people have longed from....from Lavenrunz to HARU...people desire human freedom.

Now unity and human freedom appeared to be about to become a reality, after generations of conflict and bitterness between our nations we finially had something good....we had understanding and a future.
Our state is anchored in the world of Christ...the world of true freedom, democracy and human dignity over metahuman evil.....therefore we have made the solemn pledge Never again will the Christian faithful be oppressed... never again will we allow evil to go unchecked.

We pray for a faithfulness to the common good and the goals that have been established between our governments.

Matthew Iesus. Lord Protector of Iesus Christi. Defender of the faith.

Mr Aphra Draven, Administrator for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade.

Economic assistance is well received and will certainly be required if those who have been our allies up to this time decide to turn their backs on us. Any assistance offered is gratefully accepted, your race is no longer a barrier to this.
The exact time we desire your observers will be signalled shortly – basically as soon as we know, you will know. I intend to make this process as transparent as possible.
The matter of reconciliation and truth programs has been raised by many persons within the nation, if you or your government has any experience in this matter we would be appreciate of knowledge sharing.

With many thanks
Commander Anne Blake

To the generous Allanean government.
The offer of election observers is most kind and without hesitation is accepted. Exact details pertaining to their transport and arrival within our borders will be dealt with over the coming weeks once concrete stability has been achieved.
I look forward to reading the reports of my underlings who are looking over the curriculum you have offered.

With sincere thanks
Commander Anne Blake

Sir, we thank you for your recognition of what is ours. It is refreshing to know that there are many countries that honor the concept of democratic self governance so openly.
With matters hopefully soon to settle, I can see no reason why trade between our nations cannot become a reality.

~Peace and blessings to the government of the protectorate~

Respect and honor to our sister, we see direct democracy as the weakest of the formations of governments. Its eventual corruption is unavoidable in this world with its flawed peoples.
Usually I would not speak of affairs within your own borders; to each country its own laws, but we believed that we had a contact in this case: we would support you in your ruling, and you would support us in ours with mutual beliefs being upheld within the entire sphere of influence. Why would you no choice to abandon the laws we all agreed on as good? What else shall change? “That He may ask the loyal of their loyalty. And He hath prepared a painful doom for the unfaithful.( AL-AHZAB)” The Prophet spoke wisely. Let you also be wise.

A vast crowd of Dominican citizens cried with joy and threw confetti into the air to welcome hundreds of prisoners as they walked out of Mona prison. .
Released prisoners hugged their young children – of whom some were born while they were in jail. Others planned weddings, and some said they would visit the graves of relatives who died while they were incarcerated.
“All I care about now is to make it up to my son. I cannot describe how happy I am now I have him in my arms for the first time in my life," said Lance Fox, whose 2-year-old son Ronnie was born while he was in jail
"I want to be a good father for him," he Lance whispered into his lovers ear as he embraced her tightly.
As the prisoners left the Prison each was given a leaflet with a message from Commander Blake on it:
"I am delighted that these heroic prisoners can return to their families and enjoy their liberty once more in a country which is also going to be freed. Let us remember the past, but focus on the future."
Shielding his eyes from the bright sun, colonel Niko stepped out into freedom. He had stuffed the leaflet into his front pocket and now was at something of a loss at what to do. He kicked at the gravel under his feet and stared blankly up into the sky.
“Hello you”
Niko was startled by the female voice, but once he saw who it was, a grim smile touched his grim thin lips. His smile could have signified relief or merely amusement at the sight of this woman.
“Hello my Lady. So, it’s true then.”

To the greater International community.
To those countries that wish to avail themselves upon the opportunity to help us embark upon the rocky road towards Democracy, we request neutral observers to oversee the run-up to the election and the election process itself.
Observers are requested to report to the Hall of Justice by the 7th of June.*

We sincerely thank those whom have already answered our call.
Commander Anne Blake.

Communique from the Benevolent Jaar

The wonderful nation of Vegana knows how hard the path to transcendance can be. Our brethren in St. Dominic has been through a lot and every time has your brothers and sisters in Vegana supported you. As we will this time too, to honour our long alliance we will not only use the troops already in your country to continue to support peace and law but we also pledge two extra elite regiments to guarantee the process.

We are however worried about your approach to Nations who have pledged to destroy The Reich. Nations that earlier have attacked the Reich and also are involved in aggresions against the Reich at the moment. Even as we support St. Dominic on its road to democracy, your nation also has access to a lot of material as well as logistical access to the rest of The Reich with less border- and customs control, the risk of these nations trying to use your country as a transit is imminent and we will strenghten our borders as well as the sea to be prepared if such an awful thing would occur.

Your pledge to honour the oath makes us feel that you are well able to deal with insurgents who only wish the death of the Reich to follow on your peaceful road to democracy and who wishes to use fair St. Dominic as a tool in their evil schemes.

Your Humble Servant.

Fellow reichers.

I welcome your offers of assistance and I hope this will allay some of the fears I’m sure you all have. It will be our pleasure to allow your observers to help our nation move forward from the horrors of the past. More particularly I welcome the continued stationing of those troops already within the nation; they shall be an assurance of continued peace and a sure warning to those who you believe seek to rattle our road towards transcendence.
It is good to remember that those who were insurgents are now our countryfolk again, we have extended to them the hand of peace and while they hold that peace we shall be family.

With sincere thanks.

Dressed in light green colored uniforms and carrying standard issue weaponry, Starian election observers arrived in St Dominic prepared for political killings and riots. Concern amongst the sultans advisors was rising that the presence of foreign observers will do nothing to quell insurgents from harassing and disrupting the coming elections.
At the same time the conviction has been growing in top political circles in North Star that the election should be declared illegitimate because of unacceptable social and political consequences if it is not. The new constitution has caused disquiet from many of Hatusu's closest allies.

The dismantling of the old, corrupt, fascist infrastructure was the goal, but it isn’t a quick task. The idea of an election, after all, isn’t new to St Dominic but it has been some time since one had been allowed to happen.
Since the election promise, different factions have been making extravagant promises about resolving the conflict and future of St Dominic. Thankfully so far no-one group has tried to campaign on racial or religious issues, but there growing unease amongst the rightist-Christians and nationalists about the newly declared constitution. Members of the Pan-nationalist federation have begun debating publicly the implications of this new constitution – a constitution that allows their former enemies rights of redress and equality.

70,000 federal troops will have to be moved out of Capital into the surrounding countryside, and thousands of state security forces will have to be deactivated. An estimated 121,000 refugees will have to be returned to their homes.
The paramilitarization of the state will have to be stopped and reversed, but so far little has been done and Acting-President Anne Blake seems reluctant to take action. The Rightist Christians and nationalists sympathizers still hold many of the border areas with Iesus Christi. Paramilitary violence is at a standstill but until the recent declaration had been riff. As recently as twenty days ago, 30 paramilitaries from the group Justicia-Christo attacked the town of Pariso, burning 6 houses and displacing 48 families. At the time the army did nothing to stop it and it remains to be seen if they will prevent such attacks in the future.
Still the vast majority of Dominicans continue to respond to this situation as they have in the past-- with creativity and resilience. With the appeal of the former emergency laws, public meetings and gatherings are again common place again. The return of the Danu and other non-Christian religious festivities has proven a major draw card for political groups forming during this tense time. The young Lady Allica continues to be the leading spokesperson at these draw card events. Her blonde hair drawn back over her shoulders, she continues the rally cry that made her a leader in the recent rebellion and that makes her the leading candidate for governance across the board – “The republic rebuilt. The homelands free. The nation healed. The country sovereign!”

With the process of the election on the verge of becoming underway, it is essential that foreign observers arrive shortly to ensure the process is water-tight.
I humbly request Observer team leaders to arrive at the Hall of Justice as soon as they are able.

At this time I also would like to extend my thanks to those who have kindly spoken of our change in doctrine. I hope this is only the start of our relations.

The Starian observers were welcomed on a drissly summer day and given an old army barracks to use as their billet.
They were assigned a young not-so-handsome Major Ivan Tinal from the regular forces to be the liaison between them and the election command.
Whatever demands the Starina religion imposed upon the observers would be attempted to be coped with by the Major. He had been reading up on Islam even as the observers had arrived, trying to familiarize himself with these people traditions.

Jakob Hansson from the ministry of political innovation arrived to St. Dominic with a short statement from the Benevolent Jaar.

God Bless the People of the Free Democratic nation of St. Dominic!

In times of danger and change it might seem as your true brethren in the Reich has forgotten you, it is not so!

We all know that every human life is created by god and therefore sacred. Man was created in the image of God and thus strives to transcend and develop. It is only natural. Man is a supreme being because God have given him the gift of Death. We all know that this day might be our last and therefore we try to live out our lives and grasp as much of life as possible. We all know that life is to short to be wasted on status Quo. We are like children in a candy store with unlimited possiblities and wants to try as many as possible before the candystore closes.

A nation is the sum of its people and the proud nation of St. Dominic has been forged into its shape by history, good or bad. That St. Dominic now take steps towards democracy is only natural in your development and a new bright future awaits. We in the rest of the Reich is here to support you and help you to overcome any obstacles that your enemies may throw in your way.

Know this Brothers and sisters of St. Dominic. The Reich will always be a safe harbour where you can rest you wings on your flight into further greatness!

Sebastian Lange has been appointed by us to head our electoral observers that will operate within your nation…if you have no issues with his appointed then he will arrive forthwith.

Heil Victory!
Heil Christ!
Heil the Reich!

Political situation breakdown
The political situation in St Dominic is greatly confused by religious and political divisions.
The rough layout of the homelands breaks down as:

Group #1.
Consisting of:The Ásatrú /worlders/Ethnic Damins/Danu-ists.
General Political affiliations: New Dominic (The ND) Pan-ist alliance.

Making up the majority of the country, these people have generally held to the native beliefs of the homelands. Within these native beliefs there is a vast range of beliefs and it should never be assumed that the so-called pagan beliefs of the majority of St Dominic are interchangeable.
Over the years varies religions were at odds politically, but have worked together since the rise of the fascist protectorate.
Ethnically all Dominicans, this group has tended to give it’s political support to the ND but the pan-ist alliance lead by Lady Allica has become current favorite amongst this grouping.

Group #2.
Consisting of : Hard-line Danu-ists/Ásatrú
General Political affiliations: Ethnic Homelands Movement (EHM) SACHA (Magic)

Confined to relatively small numbers, these people have become a hardcore response to the oppression of the military regime.
Define by solely ethnic Dominic blood and native belief, this group lead the most bitter resistance post the crushed rebellion and today continues to demand a return to more traditional homelands governance - Druidic and Danu-ist models.
Greatly targeted in the past by militia, it remains to see how they will treat the election process.

Group #3
Consisting of: Worlders/Ethnic Damins/Ethnic Christians
General Political Affiliations: National Unity Movement (NUM) The Popular Front.
Generally Christian in disposition, this group made up the bulk of the support for the Protectorate government. Ethnically varied, this group remains united in nationalist ideologies and rightwing Christian politics. While usually moderate in belief they were swept up into the Military rightist movement.

Group #4
Consisting of: Worlders/Ethnic Damins/Ethnic Christians.
General Political Affiliations: Nationalist front (NF) Christian Liberation Army (CLA) Solidarity.
The most extreme of the right wing political groupings. Supplied the vanguard of officers within the military government. Strongest concentrations on the border with Iesus Christi, they often call themselves ‘ethnic Christians’. Strongly opposed to any movement away from the militarized government, they pose a large challenge to the election process.

Group #5
Consisting of: Worlders/Ethnic Damins.
General Political Affiliations Dominican Communist Party (DCP) Labor Unionist guild.
The leftist ideologues suffered greatly before and after the protectorate era, but always remained a reality in the political spectrum.
Formally united with the Pan-ists during the rebellion, they now represent a distinctive political dimension in homelands politics that is hostile to both the rightwing and the native beliefs camps

***Footnotes***

Ásatrú: A small ethnic group concentrated in the centre of the nation. Generally native believers, with a high proportion of non-humans. Istarn in the old mother-tongue means ‘Ancient’

(wicca)Danu-ists: Believers in the majority religion of the homelands.(wicca-danu).

Ethnic Damins: Dominicans without foreign blood.

Ethnic Christians: Those who define themselves solely by being followers of Christ, often descendants of old crusader families. Tend towards statist politics.

Worlders: Those of Mixed Dominican and outside blood

To Commander Anne Blake:

First, let me apologize for this late transmission. A hardware problem delayed my original response. Your understanding is most appreciated.

Second, let me thank you for sending your previous transmission through secure connections.

I am writing to inform you that I have deployed my Minister of Foreign Affairs along with 50 unarmed soldiers from the Edvardian Military Police (the equivalent to the US National Guard) to assist in your upcoming elections. The Minister will serve as the leader of the Edvardian election observation delegation and the soldiers (unarmed due to requirements of the Edvardian Constitution) shall serve as election observers. I am not aware of the official (or most prevalent) language used in St Dominic, so I defaulted in choosing observers who speak English fluently.

Due to the delayed transmission, the Edvardian delegation will arrive within the hour at the airstrip closest to the Hall of Justice. To expedite the deployment of the election observers, accomodations to transport them to the Hall of Justice should be arranged as soon as possible.

Again, I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause on your part, but please do not let this be an indication of how things are run in Edvardus.

Sincerely,

Prime Minister of the Holy Empire of Edvardus

With greasy hair, and dressed in a typical brownshirt uniform the Iesus officer arrived.

Sebastian Lange in a strange way found this an honour....he had so many orders from his higher ups in the Ministry of social order he could barely remember them all.....
Of course...He had remembered Bridgettes orders....in the dead of night he'd remember them and wake up in a cold sweat...
He'd joined the ministry young and worked his way up via hardwork and ratting out anyone he could. The arrest of his older brother had been the coup that had volted him up to the elite.
Some of what he now knew by being in the elite didnt sit well...but the pwoer was thrilling....

He straightened his arm band with the Iesus cross on it. The words under the cross were a constant reminder of his work here....

“Herr Hansson, welcome to the homelands.” A nearly dwarfishly short puffy man dressed in a black business suit greeted Jakob Hansson.
“My name is Hano Norman and I’ll be your attaché during this period.” The short man wiggled his thick black eyebrows as he spoke.
“If there is anything you need, just ask. Also you’ll need to report to the Hall of Justice shortly.”

He smiled and shook Hano's hand vigorously.
-"How good of you to meet me, we are expecting 30 more observers from our special division. They should be here any minute. If we could be shown to our accomodation and told which areas we should observe and with whom it will be grand."

In St. Dominic

In the meanwhile, Allanean instructors began to move into the nation. As they promised, they gave free courses in peaceful political activism – to people of all parties who wanted to learn. And as they spoke, they also gave a few important lessons in the value of democracy.

”In a dictatorship, the only reliable- kind of, sort of reliable – way to change your government is to go out and rebel against it in some way. And when you do that, people die. In a democracy... well, a wise man said that propaganda is to a democracy what violence is to a dictatorship, That man wasn't a big fan of democracy, but he was right – the point of democracy is getting the placard to replace the machinegun and the political cartoon to replace the execution chamber.”

They explained how to make placards from a bunch of cardboard and a stick, how to organize a proper rally – and how to gain access to the media, how to talk to journalists, how to get the vote out in those frenzied 24 pre-election hours that matter most. And while they were at it, they rubbed it in, again and again, about how the system itself was important.

”Above all, you must have respect for the rules of the game. Despise your opponent. Spit on his party. Whatever. But remember -you destroy this game, and it's back to the machinegun and the gas chamber with you.”

In the meanwhile, the permission was asked to deploy a unit of unarmed Allanean personnel in St. Dominic – around 5,000 Medical Corps soldiers who would deliver food and help to those whose homes and businesses were levelled by the fighting. That had a double purpose – not only would ti help the poor and suffering – but they would learn to recognize the Allanean flag that was on the shoulder of every soldier – and to identify it with mercy and charity.

And in the dark, other things happened.

The Allanean instructors often had attentive audiences, but they raised the hackles of many Christian ethnic Damins.

“Rebel this!”

Amid the large crowd, a group of listening teenage boys launched a barrage of stones at the Allaneans. Soon dozens of the audience were chanting against Alleanean and more predominantly democracy.
Within the crowd soon scuffles were breaking out between the various factions. Stones flew at rival groups and at the local police; a full scale riot appeared to be on the verge of erupting.

Hano blinked rabidly as he talked “You’ll be stationed in the old army barracks complex near the forces from north Star. Once you’re ready, the Hall of Justice will issue areas for your men to inspect.”

Reading the incoming disturbance reports, Anne kicked the desk again in frustration. She'd already known the outcome though; such was the nature of the jigsaw, but she’d expected the violence not to happen so readily.

Biotopia
20-06-2006, 20:26
The provisional government had been very accommodating to the requests of the Biotopians. A midnight flight into the airport under tight security and then a cavalcade as the armoured vehicles shuttled equipment and personal to their own headquarters in the capital. It seemed an exceptionally sad building, everything about it said “keep out” and the dark stains on the reinforced perimeter wall attested to the desire of the last occupants to deter trespassing.

Arnjo Blackwell had been appointed Director of a specially selected group composing of 450 electoral observers, 110 federal police officers, a 20 member diplomatic and humanitarian team and a 10 member support team to oversee the initial operation. 75% of them were human which was in significant disproportion to the ethnic composition of Biotopia but taking into account the conditions to be expected in a Reich nation it payed to be pragmatic rather than idealistic.

The Biotopians had arrived and established camp without fanfare or hassle. The country had evidently gone to the dogs. Most of the buildings were uninhabited roofless facades but people milled through the dust working to push the rubble against the curb side, queuing for bread, waiting for water deliveries and taking advantage of curious lime-green portable toilets that had appeared on several street corners. All in all it was depressing, dusty and depending on the wind it smelt bad as well.

So far the Biotopians had been working in the background; driving around the city estimating reconstruction costs, talking with some of the locals about the upcoming elections and co-ordinating with the local ‘police’ who seemed too eager to use a fierce punch in the guts to get compliance from the civilians to really achieve the respect of that domestic title. There had also been long discussions with indigenous bureaucrats about the electoral procedures to be used and security for election day.

Aranjo had been interested to speak with some of the candidates for the elections and had had occasion to speak with three of them. They had not, on the whole, been very impressive. In fact they behaved like imperial demagogues and had spent half an hour spouting crypto-fascist bullshit about their “natural rights” which had centred on subjugating the rest of the population to military brutality. So it was no surprise when they soon-after aligned themselves with the Nationalist Front. “Can’t win them all” Anjo had glumly concluded.

Several team members had also observed the Allaneans giving a workshop on democracy under the security of Biotopian arms reinforced by the rough-looking and constantly floor-spitting agents of the police force. The most chilling aspect of the whole mission so far had been when a drunken hooligan no more than twenty had attempted to gouge his knuckleduster into the side of a forensic investigator when she had tried to help him just outside the compound. She shouldn’t have done it; there were protocols, but the sheer audacity he showed in his violent malevolence! Apparently he had “shot-himself” sometime after being released from jail but whether or not this was just a rumour nobody knew for sure.

Danu-ist prayer flags fluttered in the wind as hundreds crowded around the Alleana and Biotopia observors at the first of the Pan-ist political rallies were held.
They held pictures of their relatives and friends had vanished during the last years. Many of them, bleary-eyed from grief and worry, told stories of how they last heard from their loved ones, many making last-minute calls as they had been arrested by foreign soldiers.
Most in the massive crowd listened to the Pan-ist speakers as they called for support and cheered as the name of the Lady was mentioned. But on the out skirts of the crowd the black flag of the Nationalist front fluttered from a parked van – its own loudspeakers and small crowd chanting obscenities at the Pan-ists. Eventually the chant became simple –

“Kill the Dan-ist! Kill the Kin!”

Tension was clearly rising in the political contest.

We will be monitoring four political groups: the Pan-ist alliance, The Popular Front, Dominican Communist Party, and Ethnic Homelands Movement. It was a cold rainy night as president PJ Dylanshki reviews the latest production reports from the factories of the struggling country, fresh into its own fledgling democracy. Suddenly there was a knock at the door
‘Yes!..Enter” he shouted, not looking up from the large leather portfolio.
“Sir, we have completed the final draft of the dispatch, and it is awaiting your signature” said a young clerk from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Hand it to me” said President Dylanshki, putting down the portfolio. He read the dispatch and placed it on his desk, lit a cigarette, and slowly exhaled the grey smoke, watching it swirl above the desk. He picked up a pen and looked at the young man standing in his office “Let us enter the international stage” he said as he signed the paper.

-"It is quite simple. You take your friends and every time the focking Metalovers hold a meeting you deal with it. Rush in and beat up as many as you can. Shout and diturb their meetings. Starts fight with their supporters and smash up stores that actively support their cause. We know you are leaders of many and my employer who is a strong supporter of your cause has deposited a large amount of money as well as firearms and explosives for your cause.

I know you are strong in yourselves, but this is extremely important, both for you locals and for The Reich. I would suggest to hit the meetings of the Pan-ist, SACHA and the unionist guild as security will be quite lax there. Start to disturb without using too much violence. Get fights started. Heil Victory!

More uniformed young people joined the group shouting obscenities at the Pan-ist alliance rally. With black uniforms and para-military formation, these men were directly modelled on Reich fascism.

Even as the observers watched a hail of objects started to fly between the two groups separate only by a thin line of police – rocks, food, bricks flew between the groups and the thin line of police began to crack as the crowds surged forward.

Military helicopters flew over head as the police withdrew from the scene.

“Why are they leaving? Why are they leaving?”

A sobbing woman held her bleeding forehead and watched in horror as the police fallback with riot shields raised.

“Bastards! Cowardly bastards!”

She screamed as she ducked another missile as it crashed next to her.

Angry youths loyal to the NF or PF climbed onto nearby shops and started throwing petrol bombs and lumps of concrete down onto anyone who was nearby. In the midst of these youth gangs were uniformed men acting like officers directing the action.

The Dominican Communist Party faces a crisis.
We have few resources and face massive defeat - in the election & society. There is little doubt foriegn agents are aiding the fascist and danu-ist course. Should either of these sides win the election we will certainly face extermination or suppression. The fascist hate our leninist hopes and the danu-ists reject any teaching that shows the error of their folk religion.

While they are here on a diplomatic mission, the Edvardian election observers are still soldiers of the Imperial Military Police. As such, they must maintain their daily training and do so every morning before their deployment to their diplomatic duties.

After their training one morning, 15 observers march out to the Pan-ist rally to ensure that everything is in order. Marching in unison in a 3x5 formation, they soon see chaos coming from the rally. Amidst the missiles falling from above, they see opposition party members contributing to the chaos.

"Minister," the leader says into the walkie-talkie, "there is trouble at the rally and I see members of the Nationalist Front and Popular Front antagonizing the situation. We are requesting immediate backup."

"Sergant," the Minister yells, "you are not to take offensive actions! I repeat, you are not to take the offensive! I will deal with this immediately. Do what you will to defend yourself and your squad, but you are not to initiate violence."

"Yes sir!" the sergant replies.

President Dylanshki stood on the balcony of his Office at The Hall of government, enjoying the evening spring breeze, when a handful of black Range Rovers pulled into the courtyard below, and he knew the time to make the tough decision was at hand.
Seated around the long conference table with the president, was his Chief of Staff, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, General Commander of The Red Guard, The Minister of Defense and Security, and the ranking civilian members of The People’s Council, which made up “the body”. The Body dealt strictly with Highly Sensitive information, and works legally under the Constitution. Its decisions require unanimous consent, and are never made public.
“Gentlemen, I’m sure you know why I’ve assembled the body” begin Dylanshki in an unusually serious tone; “The situation in St. Dominic requires our attention. We can safely say that not all the election observers are working honorably, and may be attempting to subvert the elections in favor of the more bourgeois candidates, and something must be done to protect the will of the people.”
“Sir” interrupted General Commander Melsheviki;
“Yes comrade?”
“my intelligence sources believe that the lives of the DCP members may be in danger, although we have been unable to fully corroborate the claims”
“Until you do, I will not ask this body to authorize the deployment of the red guard, or regular army. However, I will make an official request to the current government of St Dominic to ensure the security of all candidates equally.”

Sebastian got to work quickly…..he felt that Iesus Christi had been deliberately slighted by the task assigned it but while that annoyed him he remembered…he who laughs last, laughs loudest! Even now Iesus observors strolled the streets with special orders, they see off any commies or Pagans they found.
Contact would be made with Samuel Jaar Wolfgramm…anything he wanted, he’d get…..discretely a letter was sent outlining that position and more….
Already Sebastian had conacted the CLA. Over recent years the organisation had been quiet but active…training in Reich nations preparing itself for action. Max Amon, the titular head of the organisation was already planning ‘action’. Max had lived in Iesus for years but was a Dominican by birth and wasn’t about to let the nation slid back into the grip of pagan metahuman filth.
Sebastian smiled smugly as he read the reports of Reich forces conducting manoeuvres on the border….let the weaklings try and smash the law of God….the Reich was ready!

It was a dank wet night as a young man walked down the narrow streets, yet he secretly gathered intelligence. He carried false identification for the nation of St Dominic, and nothing else, though he was an Agent of The Red Guard, sent to gather proof of outside interference in the upcoming elections.
As he hears footsteps approaching, he ducks into the shadow of a dark ally and sees a member of the DCP, followed closely by two foreigners, something he feel he cannot just ignore.

The protectorate government had forbid the ritual of the Daania. Now thanks to the amnesty the ritual was again practised freely. At the ancient grove of the Danu thousands upon thousands gathered for the festival. It was, in fact, a primitive nature festival such as would readily be observed in many countries around the world – aspects of native religion merged with Fae religion flawlessly.

A bonfire provides the central rite of the festival, the communal nature of which is seen in the fact that all must contribute materials to it – the massive bonfire represents the sun and there the purifying and invigorating powers of the sun. Brands from the fire were carried through the fields and soon the night was filled with soft glowing torchlight.

In the grove where the bonfire was set there was a mass of people dressed in a mesh of native dress, there were robes and capes, kilts, gothic gowns, countless tie-dyed sarongs, and loincloths of the druids of the Ásatrú.

The chant of the people had begun as soon as the sun had sunk beneath the horizon and continued now as the crowd’s dance and celebrated. People danced with Pan-ist flags while igniting fireworks in their bare hands.
The moon rides across the skies above. The Goddess is heavy with pregnancy. Today I celebrate the Night, for tomorrow I celebrate the coming of the light.

Politics mixed with the magic in the night air. Representatives from The Pan-ist alliance, The Ethnic Homelands Movement and SACHA spread within the crowd – each group spreading its own message in a crowd that was largely Pan-ist alliance orientated.

Thrada City – Third largest city in the homelands
"Socialism & Freedom," they chant, marching down Boysen Street, the main street in Thrada City.

A procession of Two-three thousand citizens took to the streets today to call for secular social reform in the country.

A contingent of seven hundred health workers had walked off the job to join the protest in disgust at the rising tide of sectarian divisions within the nation. Former republic health secretary Miss Nikanora walked arm in arm with Yvonne Elliman-cleff calling for a secular response to the tragedy of the past.

Thana Square: Thana City
A man in a suit is making climbed onto the Pan-ist podium even as the crowd broke into a full riot. His words were drowned out, so only the few people near him heard his word. He tries to scream his words out.

It doesn’t stop.

Finally more police units arrive at the outskirts of the square.

In a sudden movement of camouflage police uniforms, the man in the suit is ushered into a jeep along with many of his friends. The vehicle speeds away, as ambulances and more police double-time into the square.

More army trucks of military police rumble up a dirt side street into Thana square. More police than can be readily counted, jump out of the trucks and and start moving the fighting groups.

Youths first, then others started throwing stones at the encroaching lines of chanting military police.
Opportunistic journalists pulled out their cameras and start shooting the chaos.

The military police started pushing the crowd of yelling, kicking, rubble-throwing people out of the square. The youths on the rooftops continued to launch barrages of rocks and petrol bombs, forcing the police to start throwing tear gas canisters.

To Messrs. Joshua Dennenson and Samual Jaar Wolfgramm:

As the representatives of Christendom in your nation, you must live by the teachings of Jesus Christ, which involves a lifestyle of nonviolence. You are to cease and desist from initiating violence-causing tension between your parties and other parties running in the upcoming election. To Mr. Wolfgramm:

I understand what you are saying, but my initial letter refers to the actions undertaken by your party members at the Pan-ist rally. Sources tell me that your party members were shouting obscenities. That in turn incited those at the rally. Might I remind you that in Paul's letter to the Ephesians, he tells them that "immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be mentioned among you, as is fitting among holy ones, no obscenity or silly or suggestive talk, which is out of place, but instead, thanksgiving...for no one hates his own flesh but rather nourishes and cherishes it, even as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body." Despite differences between your party and the Pan-ist alliance, bear in mind that we are all members of the body of Christ. Jesus himself reminds us that what we do to the least, we do to him.

"Heathen Faiths! Do you hear them....Do you HEAR THEM! blasphemy! Vile blasphemy! Remember our fathers the Maccabees...they knew how to deal with heretics, Heathens and those who blashpheme! Death! Death! Death!"
The civilian speaker spoke with a Iesus accent as he rallied Christians in the nearest town to the ancient grove of the Danu.
An Iesus reporter from the dei verbum newspaper snapped photos of the event. This was playing well at home.....Pagan satanic rituals in forests! Allowing metahumans to run free! Baby killing! All good stuff for the Iesus reader!
A small unit of Iesus election observers stood watching. They hadnt had any formal training in their job...they were simply Iesus troopers from the nearest army base. Thus they occasionally muttered their concept to the speakers words.....something had to be done about this....BLASPHEMY....

A van slowed down as it passed by, its driver giving the Iesus troops a friendly wave. The Officer nodded back as the van drove off towards the wood and looked at his watch....it was almost as if he had expected the van to be here at this time....

I do not have to stress how important it is to watch them like a hawk; they cannot be trusted. Therefore, I want you to survey all their communications. I am sending a representative to meet you, by the name of Monsieur Noir. Upon this meeting, he shall instruct you on how to receive the monies.

Be forewarned, since this action is not approved by my government, there shall be no way to trace this transfer back to me. M. Noir has been a personal “task manger” of mine for years, and will kill himself, before being captured should anything go awry, and I’m afraid, he shall take you with him.

A man dressed in regular Dominican attire walks down the sidewalk into the sunset. He looks around and makes his way into a park and finds the bench near the lake. There is another man sitting on the bench with a briefcase at his feet. The first man sits down and says, "Can you believe that the colours in the sky is caused by the angle at which the sun is hitting the atmosphere?"

The man recognizes the passphrase and replies, "Actually, I can. I teach physics at the local high school."

The first man recognizes this as the confirmation. "Do you have the telegram?"

"I hope so. It had been shredded just moments before I received the order. I hypothesized that it would be near the top of the shredded papers, so I took the top layer. It will take some time for you to sort through the relevant shreds from the irrelevant ones, but all of the pieces should be accounted for in this briefcase."

"Good." He reaches for the briefcase.

"Has the sergant said when my extraction will be?"

"He hasn't mentioned it to me."

"I hope it is soon. I don't like it in there."

"You don't think you've been compromised, do you?"

"No, it's just that they all seem like they are on to me."

IC:

In the meanwhile, the Allaneans were acting in the same way – distributing literally metric tons of propaganda. Not on a given party or candidate, but on a virtues of the democratic system, voting, free speech and individual civil liberties. The groups that distributed these were varied and diverse, and had large amounts of money – happily, since they were not endorsing any candidates, this would probably fly within the limits of any sensible election laws.

The observers supported this policy, but of course made it clear, in all their media statements, to distance themselves from those who executed it. “The Observer Service,” they noted, “Is strictly neutral. All we care is that a fair election does take place.”

In the meanwhile, the Team Dagger men approached Blake with a letter, asking her whether they could now begin act on her command against 'threats to democracy from foreign sources', and 'clear out Bridgettist foreign agents' from the nation. This, of course, was not publicly known.

M. Noir had recently left the headquarters of the labor union, after delivering his final package. After traveling several blocks he stopped at a pay phone, and dialed a number.

“This is LM curriers leaving a message for Monsieur Noir, we’ve decided to cancel our shipment, please..” The message was interrupted by the slamming of the phone
“shit”
He thought as he walked away from the payphone, the operation had been canceled after he had completed it. He could no longer count on an extraction, or that his cover was still intact. He decided that since his mission was not government sanctioned, heading to the consulates office was out of the question. His only chance was to disappear into the city, and keep a low profile till things settled down.

Victoria Sheshet, the new Secretary of State, began her press-conference.

Dear friends.

First, I have a reminder to you all. No television stations, and nobody else, is allowed to take money or do business with the governments of the Reich nations, or broadcast commercials on their behalf. This is basic Allanean law, as these governments are at war with the United States of Allanea, and are prohibited from operating any financial transactions in the United States.

-"As you can see mr. Hano this election will be a travesty of demcocracy as long as Allanea is involved," Jakob Hanson looked concerned as he showed the press- clip for Mr. Hano. "I am afraid I will have to declare this election corrupt and biased as long as they are involved in here. It is clearly not in their best interest that St. Dominic stays with the Reich with a new democratic government. My report will go to the Benevolent Jaar within week if you haven't taken actions against such fraudulent actions as clearly are involved here."

Jakob rose and shook Hano's hand. He turned around just before he left the office.

-"I am seriously worried about the situation. A St. Dominic run by a corrupt and false government will not be something taken lightly upon, especially not a government where Allanea has it hooks in it. I hope you do something about it, because it might turn really unpleasant.

There as no reply to the mysterious benefactor, Yvonne Elliman-cleff knew the more communications the greater the chance of discovery.
So she started planning where the money would be spent. Politics was costly, especially in a country without much in the way of infrastructure – the free adverts on the state channel hardly impressed.

*****President of The People’s Republic of Marquish*****
Dear Mr President

My time is yours. Whatever needs to be discussed can be discussed directly with me under my personal testimony that our channels are secure.

Kindly yours
Anne Blake

Much of the information the Allaneans handed out wasn’t new to the average citizen. Democracy wasn’t so long gone to have vanished from the minds of the homelands citizens.
The spending of money was more readily received than the leaflets – whole sections of the country were poor or close to it. The Protectorate era hadn’t been a propose time for those who weren’t part of the status quo.

The team dagger gentlefolk were meeting with a stern looking President Blake. She still remembered the insult offered to her by the Alleana government not so long ago. Her agreement to personally meet with the agents was gracious considering the history and the current events.

The large oak desk sat between her and the agents and her bodyguards eyed them closely. No weapons of any sort were allowed on the agents and they were subject to an extensive search – if this proved to much for them, then they simply weren’t granted entry to the woman who ruled the nation.

She wrinkled her forehead at the directness of these agents. “You have my authority to do what is needed. If you over step” She wrinkled her nose at them and made a snorting noise. “There will be a price to be paid. Understood?”

Illegal Foreign aid?
Bias?
Fraud?
Corruption?
I reject your claims as ill-defined and 'unsound', and believe your credibility is diminished by making them.
This is an unusual election, but it will be fair. Every person will be able to vote for whoever they wish.
And yes, perhaps a party that isn’t loved by all foreign influences will ascend into power – but that is the choice of us here in the home world.
If you have any direct cases of corruption please inform the authorities. Action will be taken.

Also; should any government wish to give aid to political parties they may. As yet such support isn’t illegal but perhaps is not advisable. Such payments should not exceed the total of five million dollars local currency & be discrete. .
It would please me better that the government received the aid rather than local parties.

With a confidant hope

The crate had been exactly where the voice on the phone had told them and their contact had come with them to ensure that it was not a trap.

It opened with a loud creak in the small cellar and small arms were handed out and packed into backpacks. It would be a busy night but they would arm a full platoon of Aryan Freedom fighters before tomorrow and this time they would not only be meeting the other demonstrators with their bare fists. Mr. Wolfgramm was a great man but sometimes it seemed as if he didn't understand the gravity of the situation. "Very well." - said the Team Dagger operative.

Ten days later, when a group of Aryan Freedom Fighters came to attack another protest, the Daggers were waiting - not at the protest itself, but a full five hundred meters away, concealed by window panels and using huge flash suppressors to conceal the flash from their oversized sniper rifles. The rooms themselves would act as a immense sound suppressors.

And so, when the first AFF goons would begin to fall, they would not have any idea where the shots where coming from. The idea was not to kill or injure them all - but to act on the psychological effects.

After firing a few shots each, the snipers would leave silently.

In the meanwhile, peaceful instructors would begin teaching people self-defense with whatever weapons were legally available in St. Dominic.

“This is an urgent time for all who want to preserve our white christian heritage. I don’t want my daughters marrying a pagan, darkie or an animal”

A sniper shot cut through the speaker as he addressed the National Front rally. He’d been an obvious target for the Alleana sniper – after all the speaker was a known militia leader.
The listening crowd fled quickly as police sirens screamed out.

Far away an explosion detonated in the midst of the dancing crowds. A blinding flash and the earth shakes. The adults screamed and the children cried as the explosion ripped through the grove

“They take offence! What right do they have?”
