Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Astevane, Royal Capital of Aerion
Grand Kingdom of Aerion

"His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Damoen Wasterin, Acting Monarch and Head of State of the Grand Kingdom of Aerion, speaking for the Grand Kingdom's 6 billion citizens, bids tidings to the world. He has issued this statement,

"Nations of the world, it is my wish that the Grand Kingdom of Aerion, which has as of the past most recent been solely focused on its internal affairs, and as a culture we had become a bit isolated to once again extend our hand to the world and to interact with the many nations. We have much to share, and I welcome you all in a spirit of peace to open a dialogue with us. Despite often the provinces in our own country seeming as if they were separate nations, the Grand Kingdom citizens do unite behind one banner all the Royal Monarchy of Aerion. It is our wish that you all come to know us as one people united, and as peoples in our variety."

(OOC: Just seeing who wishes to RP, feeling the waters again.)

(ABOUT AERION)
The Grand Kingdom of Aerion is a Capitalist Monarchy, with the Monarchy having a standard of 10% ownership in every major megacorporation, but the megacorporations functioning as semi-autonomous entities with immense power. The Royal Government controls police and political functions, but with a lot of bribery and corporate control depending on the area. The individuals and families that have stock ownership in these megacorporations, often exclusively specializing in one or two, have become a sort of nobility with power that united together would rival the Monarchy.

TECH: The Grand Kingdom is modern tech, perhaps 50-100+ years or so ahead of today, with flatscreens being standard, mobile integrated all in one devices, digital paper, robotic automation of many things, and automated transportation systems such as robotic self-guiding cars. Flying cars, artifical intelligence, or even extensive cybernetics arent the norm unless they are rare highly regulated imports from other nations.

The security in the Grand Kingdom, in urban areas at least, is almost police-state like with extensive sensor cameras in urban areas, National ID cards that for many citizens are connected to a database that has even genetic information stored, and regular checkpoints in many areas like public transportation (Such as required to slide your National ID Card through a scanner to enter public transportation). There is a centralized national bank, the Royal Aerionian Bank, with various subsidiaries, that handles almost all currency and banking transactions though some megacorporations have their own banks to avoid the attempts of the Royal Government control. Royal Government and Megacorporate officials as well as others who are wealthy or powrful have a slight form of first class citizenship in that they are subject to less restrictions, less checkpoints, and their national ID card allows them more "freedom" from surveillance.

Culture
Overall Aerionian public culture is modern minimalist which is reflected in architecture, personal style, and culture. A serious, private, "all for themselves", self-interested slightly cold business mentality defines most people in urban areas. Jazz music is popular, and there are some subtle elegant threads through the culture though. The wealthy on the other hand have an extravigant, sometimes decadent, high culture that could be said to be a bit old style Imperial British or French mixed in with an Italian idea of partying and living the good life.

Semir-randil sighed quietly as he turned away from the VisiWall. It had, in short, been a long few hours.

The Project was obviously some kind of monumental failure - although he, like the rest of the Council, was also monumentally underinformed. "There's a first time for everything," he muttered softly.

His thoughts cast back to an earlier incident - but no.

No time for that. There was a blinking image on his terminal. With a sigh, the High Lord Commodore, Consort to the Empress, reached out and prodded a contact.

The message scrolled.

To the Aerion Royal Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

The Commonality bids thee goodwill and peace.

We find ourselves with little in the way of words to share at this first step, yet are interested and intrigued in improving relations with the Grand Kingdom of Aerion, in the interest of our Peoples and our futures.

It is as ever the aspiration of the Commonality to promote stability and harmony, and, as such, we extend the hand of friendship with good faith and will.

With hope and trust,

1st Ambassador Nejure of the Commonality Diplomatic Corps

Semir grunted. And even though he knew the answer, softly: "Why do they send these to us when they know what the answer will be?"

Carefully, he prodded the 'Approve' key.

"We thank you for your response, and His Royal Highness has been made aware of your interest in opening further relations with the Grand Kingdom of Aerion. We would welcome you to visit the Grand Kingdom, if you so wish, and perhaps consider the establishment of more official diplomatic relations in the form of a permanent delegation."

Signed,
Royal Ambassador Darthan

Nejure stroked his thumb thoughtfully with his forefinger from the other hand. He was peering at the thumb, in fact.

"Now how in the world..."

There was a small - tiny - spot of blood. Complex eyes zero in on the dot. "Huh."

And gaze shifts, to allow him to peer at the cause. "Now how did I cut my thumb on a keypad?"

A mystery to end all mysteries?

Probably not. Still, the result of the thumb press is unchanged.

Royal Ambassador Darthan,

I am certain Ambassador Neurat would be honoured to visit Aerion, although I myself am unfortunately eternally marooned in the offices of the Diplomatic Corps. At least for the time being.

Who'd live the life of a diplomat, eh?

At any rate, we accept your kind proposal. Ambassador Neurat will most certainly enjoy his stay, I'm sure.

I suspect it would be better in this case to send a Human, after all. Pointy-eared folk draw all kinds of attention.

Please respond with an appropriate schedule for his visit so we may continue in the pleasant spirit with which we have begun.

Our thanks,

~ 1st Ambassador Nejure

"Hmm."

[OOC: Sorry for slowness. Still getting into the swing of things myself. :)

I'll create said thread tomorrow and telegram you a link. In the meantime, if you could please telegram me details on where to arrive, what protocols incoming aircraft would need to adhere to, and other such info, I'd be much obliged. Thanks! (Now I'm off to bed.)]

"Good timing. . ."

"Can't hurt, can it?"

"Of course not."

"Can't hurt to try."

Ending isolation is something to be wary of, without the right friends. Honest, truly honest relations are difficult to find. We would like to offer you Honesty. The Empire, itself previously isolationist, would like to open relations.

Sincerely,
