International Friendly Discussion,Scores, RP Thread

I don't really know if anyone has tried this before, but here goes.

International Friendly Matches are a large part of the football world and a lot of space is used in the WC Discussion and various IC Tourney threads to set up and run these matches.

It makes sense that Friendly matches should have their own thread in which challenges can be issued, opponents sought out, particulars discussed, find someone to scorinate and post and RP the results.

And this is a thread designed just for that. Good luck to everyone.

Damn you, I was going to set up a thread. But I think its a good idea, plus friendlies can have there own ranking system in addition to the KPB rankings, which is build up over time, and takes into account all freindlt matches taken

My Ideas

Friendlies have there own ranking system, very similar to the ELO system
Because not everyone would play the same amount of frendlies, rankings could be skewed there are two options

Scoranate friendlies for those who haven't asked for one anyway
Have some divisor for the rankings so that its size doesn't depend on the number of matches

The scoranator would take into account previous matches against the opponent, could go futher and take into account previous home/away matches
With the ranking system, if would give greater weight to World Cup Matches, then World Cup Qualifiers and Cup of Harmony, then the Draggonnii Inviyattii and Baptism of Fire then previous friendly matches

World Cup - x2.00
World Cup Qualifyers - x1.50
Cup of Harmony - x1.50
Baptism of Fire - x1.25
Draggonnii Inviyattii - x1.25
Frendlies - x1.00

Oppose idea of new rankings, etc Friendlies are just that, non-competitive matches. No need to complicate things. It'd be abused too easily (like, say, LE setting up a friendly against LE u15s).
The Islands of Qutar
20-04-2006, 12:13
I think that means there would have to be some rules against that, and both sides would have to agree to a friendly, also if the match had weight, If Chuck Norris beat Starblaydia for example, they would receive more points than Starlaydia would for the reverse
Schiavonia
20-04-2006, 12:26
Completely new rankings wouldn't be a good idea. But I'm working on something, based around the proportional formula used in the Schiavone International Scorinator, that means that those with higher KPB rankings are still much better than those with lower, but those with lower (less than 3 points) have a greater chance of beating the teams just above them. But it could take a fair old while.

Why would you need a ranking system for friendlies? The only reason why I would want a friendly is 2 reasons:

1. I want something new to RP
2. ICly I want my new players/coach/somthingelse to get a match in before real competition starts

The only other reason I could see is that some people want to use friendlies like IRL to play new players and test new players to see who will make the next WC squad. ICly of course.

So then considering nobody would do it for competition why a ranking system?

A good way to score NS-friendlies is for the two nations to simply to agree on a RL match and use that scoreline. Thats what me and Hypocria did a while ago, with the Hyppos picking up a 2-1 away win, coinciding with Wycombe beating my beloved Bristol Rovers.

Of course, this is all assuming the football season is still in progress....

Although I am flattered that Qutar would use Inviyatii results to be factored into a new ranking system, I have to say that it would all just seem to make friendly matches to complicated.

Like has been said, friendlies are just that - a freindly match. And most of us would probably agree with Milchama in that we just want to get a feel for what new players and such we like to RP. Some new players just do not have the right "feel" after you use them once or twice.

I think that each match should decide what ranking to use (whether KPB, Adjusted KPB, Regional, or none at all) For example: if I played Sarzonia in a friendly match where we both used all new players, I wouldnt expect the rankings difference to be quite as large. Untested players shouldnt have the same ranking as the ones that compete on a regular basis.

And if it is a constant flow of new players in and out of friendly matches, then you can hardly put a ranking system in place, as it would have to be adjusted for these new players.

But ultimately, that should be agreed upon by the two sides that are playing each other. After all, it is their match.

The other point of this thread would be to allow others to see the results of those matches and the RP that goes with it. Who knows, your domestic leagues could find new foreign blood you might want to negotiate to obtain.

I dont know. Sattelite is wonderful. I watch a ton of EPL and Argentine soccer on GolTV and FSC. Not to mention Italian, French, and Bundesliga(spellcheck). But I know a lot of people dont get that option.

I can't see why people would want any "rankings" for friendlies. We're just RPing frendlies for the fun, aren't we?

So what if some unknown nation beats Sarzonia, Rejistania or anybody else for their first match? It's just a frendlie, and Rejistania can say that it was a Reserve U15 team that was on the pitch?

I think the best way is for both players to agree on the rules as each match comes.

Some want to scorinate, fine! Just take your WC rankings, or agree on numbers!
Others want to copy the results of real matches, perfect! With the 7 English leagues (or more if you're into Isthmian etc...), the 2 French leagues, the 2 German leagues, the 4 Italian leagues, the 2 Spanish leagues, the 2 Belgian leagues, the 2 Dutch leagues, the 20-odd East-european leagues, the 10-odd Asian leagues, the MLS league in the 'states, the Mexican league, the 5-6 central american leagues, the 20+ South american leagues, the 10-odd africal leagues, and the few oceanean leagues, you'll find a match that you like, and why not choose a real international friendly?

Some people here just play frendlies for the fun, and sometimes to help their RPs. As long as they agree with their opponents on Friendly rules, I don't think that we need a ranking for frendlies that is "other" than the one for the WC...

(And if there is a "ranking", why include the Dragonnii inviyati? I wanted to be part of the second edition, but there weren't any more places. As it's not "official", I can't see why someone who is in it will gain points that I wasn't even able to get... It would be like in real life, when Liverpool go on an asian tour, they "win" more points than Arsenal simply because they played a "competition" and not a series of frendlies...)

Edit : I'm looking for an opponent for a frendly. Full international squad, in preparation of WC28. I'm open to all levels, but I will be playing my near-best team, albeit a few changes to try new players. Tele me along with your proposed rules and method of scorination if you are interested.

This sounds good, but I believe that the "HOST" country (unless they both decide to play in a neutral country) should choose the method of scorination, whether or not to use KPB ranks, and most importantly which team(s) would be used. You can have a Freindly such as (to use a RL example from last year England vs. NY/NY Metrostars) a National team vs. a Legue team.

If any body would like to visit Qazox for a friendly, my personal preferences would be:

National Team v. National Team
Women's Team v. Women's team
your League Champion v. My league champion.

I would like to have the match scorinated by a neutral team and no KPB ranks. (I don't need to lose to Sarzonia 7-nil at home. )

If you want to play, TG me with which ever team you would like to send to Qazox, and don't worry, the Oxen don't bite... but they might poop in your shoes...lol j/k

First of all, I already stated that I disagree with a ranking system for friendlies, even one that included the Inviyatii.

Second, The original list of 32 invites for the 2nd Inviyatii was completely RP count based on the qualifiers for WC27. I apologize if you did not RP enough to make a list that the bottom teams averaged 1 post for every two matchdays. The only accepted exception had the mumps during the qualifiers and couldnt RP.

Now down to business.

ASMV would love to face The Black Oxen in a friendly with no rankings if we can find someone to scorinate the match.

I am also looking for someone to scorinate an unranked match between ASMV and Bazalonia Celebrity Squads for a Memorial Match at Carrington Championship Arena in ASMV to honor the lives of those lost during a hotel bombing during the Inviyatii.

Thanks.

As I was unable to post for the first 9 matchdays of the tournament, I was catching up. All the posts I made should have been 2, 3 or 4. So even though I only made 5 posts, I'd say that had I been there all the time, without any extra material, there would be 13 or more posts... more than one a matchday.

Please note that I am not criticising, because I did not strongly want to play in the Inviyatii, but I chose it as an example. In the same way I chose the Liverpool and Arsenal asian tours of 2000 to illustrate later on.ASMV would ... Inviyatii.
I'll scorinate both, if you want.

First Carrington Memorial Friendly

Welcome to Carrington Championship Arena. It is great to see the glory of football return to this marvelous venue such a short time after the tragedy that struck during the Draggonnii Inviyatii just a short 3 months ago tonight.

On that night, tragedy struck for all members of the footballing world. An act of terrorism that showed how cowardly and cruel some people can be. The Royal Wesenhause Hotel was the target of malicious and damnable people as a bomb leveled the building, causing the deaths of some 734 people of Vegan, Bazalonian, Milchaman, Tadjik, Ariddian, and Starblaydi nationalities. Tonight’s Celebrity Match will honor those lives that were lost and raise money for the families of the victims. We hope that tonight’s ceremonies will serve to do that honor for these victims of such horrible acts and raise awareness of terrorist activities in an effort to prevent such a disaster from striking the non-political sporting world again.

And without further waiting, we now announce the squad of celebrities from ASMV.

I'll post scores once each team has made at least one pre-match RP... Or there's not much point in me just posting a score nobody knew was being played.

And I'm still looking for a frendly opponent.

And... ASMV, your Celebrity squad has not got a goalkeeper... You only have 10 starting players, and 4 suubstitutes, instead of either 5 or 7 (depending on rules).

...And as you know, following the tragic bombings in Andossa Se Mirtin Vega during the Draggonnii Inviyatii, there was a charity match scheduled between Bazalonia and Andossa Se Mirtin Vega in the same town that was the victim of these horrible acts.

And it is always good to see people who aren't usually part of football come and show how they too want to help.

Both teams were made up of celebrities, from various origins, spanning politics and opera, tv stars and astronauts, as well as various other sportsmen, some retired.

It was a good match, and the final result was 4-3 for Bazalonia.

Now, let's take a look at the Vuam and Isma Duodivie matches that were played this weekend...

Carrington Friendly - What a match." by Nev Gould

The Carrington Memorial Friendly is over. The team of ASMV Celebrities faced us Bazalonian Celebrities (with your's truly as the goalie). It certainly a magical night the stadium waws packed as before the match there was a minutes silence in remembrance. And then the game was on, B-FM radio Announcer, Simon Stravionious, in the 12th minute scored the first goal of the match with a great (well for an amateur) pass from my fellow columnist Manka Peters.

The Vegans hit back with Melodee Roen and Bryon Tinkey combining for a goal of their own in the 24th minute... the goals went back and forth, Bazalonian squad scored a goal in the 34th minute. The Vegans retaliated after half time with a goal 47 minutes into the game.

Another Bazalonian goal was from James Gaines as he took a long shot towards the goal and managed to get past the Vegan goalie and olympic speed-skater in the 57th minute. another quick reply from the vegans tieing the score up once again in th 65th minute. and there it remained until the 85th minute where Geoffery Franks from BazRock FM took a corner and somehow Colin dickson was there, way out of position but he tipped the ball into the Vegan goal and there it was. Bazalonia 4 - ASMV 3 in the Carrington Memorial Friendly.

Tragedy Overcome!!!

Today's headline is simple. But for families of the victims of such a horrific act, it was more than we can put in writing. Carrington Championship Arena was far beyond capacity today for the Carrington Memorial Friendly between celebrity squads from ASMV and Bazalonia. Other articles will give you the details of the match which at times appeared to be more of a photo shoot. We will give you the more important statistics.

The 83,000 capacity arena welcomed in nearly 95,000, many of whom were forced to stand in the hallways outside, unable to see even a minute of play. The gate reciepts alone totalled more than 47 million Paios. And that was just the beginning. Autographs and photos both before and after the match were given by donation and raised some 15 million Paios. Memorabilia sales totalled near 25 million Paios, with Sabre Inc's Celebrity Kit replicas being the hottest item. The Vegan Fuborii Liaga donated 100 million Paios while ASMV FNN donated 20 million.

Sales of the ASMV memorial kits soared in arena sales as well as internet sales in a glorious moment in the 85th minute of the match. At that time Presidente Commandante Viastormin Vega himself stepped onto the pitch in Carrington to the cheers of everyone there. But he was not alone. Next to him, also wearing the ASMV Memorial Kit was Titus Drax, Autokrator of Hypocria - in the flesh. Both men played with a vengeance for the final 5 minutes of the Bazalonian victory.

All in all more than 207 million Paios were raised for the families of bombing victims, in an effort to help those families deal with their loss. Also of note, In addition to Sabre Inc donating all kits and replicas for sale, The Kingdom of Dorian and Sonya has donated a massive 200 million whitehall dollars to build a lasting memorial for the victims of the tragedy. Word is that the memorial will be built on the very spot where the Royal Wessenhause Hotel had stood.

All kits used in the match will be available for bid on V-bay with the procedes also going to families of the victims.

CAFETIERE CUP TO EXPAND?

The Krytenian FA have tabled a plan to expand the Cafetiere Cup into a triangular tournament. The trophy, currently a semi-regular series between Krytenia and FMJPhoenix, had its beginnings in the fabled antiquity, the Golden Cafetiere, which is prized by both nations.

However, one other nation was involved in the origins of the tournament: Rejistania. It is the KFA's plan (should the Phoenicians agree) to introduce the Orange-Blues to this competition.

Ukrops Dominion-Commenwelth Cup

Congratulations to Vuam & Isma who win the inagural cup by an aggragate score of 5-3

Gazetta de'Esporte

Winners, and that's that.

As the world cup is about to kick off, Vuam and Isma's coaches, Scarab and Johann Fischmann, took their quest for silverware to Virgina Nova, with the aim of bringing back the Ukrops Dominion-Commonwealth Cup

As the World Cup loomed, new and untested players were chosen alongside seasoned veterans, in a bid to bring more depth to Vuam and Isma's footballing experience.

Here are the 23 that flew to Virginia Nova :

GK
1 - Colm O'Connor
13 - Wayne Ivers
25 - Palev Kerisnek

Def
2 - Roman Brasiviev
4 - Sett Marc
5 - Icham S'baa
12 - Eukla Chdone
14 - Victor Nierderberger
24 - Dermov Ichtaa
26 - Ismaël Rodriguez

Mid
6 - Stefan Grak
8 - Exclamatio Lidon
15 - Peter Searle
17 - Jorgé Clay
21 - Emmanuel DiBrandi
22 - Jonathan Slewt
25 - Julian Hroistow
27 - Esko Foly

Att
10 - Robert O'Beirne
16 - Sifiso Masilela
18 - Fahd Ghauri
20 - Mike Sharwood
23 - Tomas De Julipaar

Now, whilst most were expecting Scarab and Fischmann to keep a solid backbone of main-team players, it wasn't to be so, with every player playing at least as a substitute once, and every player playing 45 minutes of football.

Vuam and Isma were seeded as round two competitors, being the second-highest ranked team in the cup, which dissapointingly only attracted 6 nations.

During round two, Vuam and Isma were pitted against Rorysville home and away (well, rather neutral and neutral). O'Beirne scored the first goal of the tournament, with a tap-in off Clay's cross, after 28 minutes, and doubled their margin as Marc netted just before the hour. However, the second game wasn't to be a closed affair, as Rorysville clawed one back only minutes before the final whistle. The return match started with Vuam and Isma in dissapointing form, looking constantly overwhelmed by the opposition. However, swift tactical changes, and a substitution after 30 minutes meant that V&I kept their 2-1 advantage going into the break. After the break, V&I settled the match with two goals, Sharwood and Ghauri slotting the ball past the keeper. Rorysville however prevented Kerisnek's debut from being perfec, punishing him for fumbling a cross in the 72nd minute.

Then, in the final, Vuam and Isma were logically pitted against the other seeded side, top-ranking Pacitalia. The final was to be played in three parts, as per tradition. The first match was a matter of testing each other's defences, and both sides didn't take many chances before half time. In the 53rd minute, Hroistow made a cool chip over the defence for Jupilaar to latch on to. However, Jupilaar was held back, and was awarded a penalty. Grak lined up the ball and sent Vuam and Isma ahead with a low shot to the right of the goal. Pacitalia faught back, and as they applied the pressure, Nierderberger made a costy mistake, badly weighting a backpass to Ivers that Pacitalia easily transformed into a goal. In the 81st minute however, Vuam and Isma took the lead again, this time off a Brasiviev free-kick that rocketed to the back of the net from 30 yards out. The second match was by far the most interesting, with both teams fielding stronger sides than previously. Pacitalia took an early lead, with their strikers combining for a sweet one-two that broke up the V&I defence after only 6 minutes, and a powerful shot that cuddled the post. Vuam and Isma came back through O'Beirne, heading down Grak's cross to wrong-foot the Pacitalian goalie. O'Beirne later turned into a passer, as he flicked Searle's ball on to Lidon, who coolly put the across the face of the goal for O'Driscoll to side-foot into the netting. With the score tied at 2-4, Palacetonia took a strong offensive option, and returned from the break with two more strikers. However, they sqandered many chances as O'Connor foiled their striking, and when O'Connor missed, his posts saved him. Masilela would seal the match with a counter-attack goal on the 74th minute, latching on to a long boot by S'Baa, turning his defender and speeding past the goalkeeper's outstreched arms to get his name on the scoresheet. The final match was dissapointing, with two very tired sides that lacked both morale, skill and fitness. Although there were many chances, no goals were scored, and the closest V&I came to breaking the deadlock was the DiBrandi free-kick that Slewt headed onto the crossbar.

Following these five matches, V&I hold the impressive record of 4 wins and one draw. This should be a great boost for both the players and their families, and perhaps draw better results than expected from the world cup qualifiers.

Thanks for the Trophy!

Excuse me? I was told of/missed this when? Not that I'm irritated by my people being randomly blown up or anything, but where do I send the special forces/cruise missles/nukes?
Commandos FTW.
OOC- What happened to the ASMV vs Qazox friendly score? :D
I'm waiting for Quazox to do a pre-match RP. Otherwise there's no point in me giving a score, is there :D

Hmmm Baz's puppet, eh? And they wanted to come into the Strategic Alliance. Time to die, I think...

Do you have specific plans for this nation, because I would like to deal with them too. Gotta research the whole case first though.

OOC- That would have been in the Inviyatii when Atheistic Right blew up the hotel after a Bazalonian match. Players were all fine, but fans were caught in the blast. The Atheistic Right team bus then reportedly overturned killing everyone on board. The suckers...I mean AR people....are now blaming Collonie for their loss. I am soon to take the issue up with AR myself. Let me know if you send nukes first though :D

So this is what I miss when I fail to read the Inviyatii thread until the end, when my nationals could have been exploded? Damn it!

The Chicanada Football Association (CFA) is looking for two nations to compete in friendlies against on Matchdays 2 and 9 (our scheduled off-days). That or a home-and-home set with one nation.

OOC: If your going to take some action against AR why not help Collonie in their current war against the Darwinists? We could always use more help [/shameless promotion]

Not that I don't think AR deserves to be blown up, conquered, removed from existance, or whatever happens... BUT WHEN WAS SOMEONE GOING TO TELL ME?

Once the Collonie war has been dealt with, I was thinking of making AR invade Mrytannia (not that I have spoken with them yet)... what ever the timing.

I'd be happy to host an Atheistic Right Blood bath... but be warned....Atheistic Right has spent alot of time and resources getting people inside your nations and there have been sleeper cells in side your nations for a long time... you have no idea who they are... they are very proficient at forging documentation as well as computer hackery and most are very good at covering their tracks. The best could have even entered your military...

On a side note...I'm not exactly sure what evidence ASMV has that a citizen of Atheistic Right did the bombing, or even if the government was behind it (which actually it was ARFA that was responsible for it, not the government.)

As long as we can agree how the "Gang up on AR" ends.. then everyone has free reign to do whatever they like within the understanding that it will end up there...

. and it's Collonie that are the agressors in the Collonie/AR war :p (as AR maintains and quite possibly could be correct from an external point of view, even though they sent a letter (from inside Collonie) containing what could have been Anthrax, but instead was just Talculm powder.

Whatout for that IT guy behind you... He;s an Atheistic Right SPYY!!!!!!!!

ASMV had won 2-1... Not much to say though...

If you want me to, I'll re-scorinate it... not that that would be hard for me!
