World Cup 28 Roster Thread

New Montreal States
17-04-2006, 05:10
Welcome to World Cup 28 - co-hosted by The Archregimancy and the New Montreal States!

This thread is reserved for posting rosters for use in World Cup 28. Posting a roster, besides making it easier for other nations to RP matches against your nation, will earn you a small RP bonus. Other IC posts can be made here. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=477935) You may sign up here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=473086&page=1), space permitting. OOC discussion and questions may take place in the discussion thread. (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=293066&page=324)

Playing style modifiers, with a range from -2 to +2, will be used for this tournament. A +2 formation is a more attacking style, while a -2 is more defensive. The default style is a balanced 0. Any higher or lower numbers will be set to +2 or -2, as our scorinator can't handle any numbers outside that range.

When posting a roster, you should tell other nations what they have permission to do to your players, should the other nation post their RP first. A sample list is provided below. If a list isn't posted, it is assumed that all answers to the questions are "yes."

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers Y/N
Godmod Scoring Events Y/N
RP injuries to my players Y/N
Godmod injuries to my players Y/N
Hand out Yellow cards to my players Y/N
Hand out Red cards to my players Y/N

QAZOX CITY HERALD

Earlier today, the list of players for Qazox in the 28th edition of the World CUp was annouced, and there was little difference from the squad that got edged out of WC 27 Qualifing and CoH preliminaries. With a slighty more aggressive attacking team, Qazox hopes that the 1-0 and 2-1 losses are a thing of the past and we can qualify for the cup proper this time around. the Group Draw will be on 4/25/1904 (Qazoxian time period of course).

Head Coach Jason Bourne of Rockport AC will be the Head Coach for Qazox this time around, and he'll have the Black Oxen play a +2 style with an aggressive 5-1-4 formation.

Coaching:
Head Manager: Seamus McCormack
Asst. Manager: Xavier Keiths
Goalkeepers Coach: Oliver Daniels
Conditioning Coach: Tommy Reynolds

Manager Seamus McCormack will stick around with his entire coching staff for one more shot at the cup, as he has announced he will retire at the conclusion of this cup. The retirement of six starters, including goalkeeper Jorge Fernandina, who finished up his sixth world cup, a number unmatched by any other Squornshelan player, will mean a lot of younger players will have to step up in a big way. Cheif among those players will be a glut of talented midfielders, including striker Vasili Petrov's brother Oleg. He will be joined by Jeff Harris and Franz Peterson, as well as returning starter Goran Syvatov. Israel Kamaka will move onto the field on a more permanent basis for this cup, and Joseph Kaizers will fill in for the retiring Derrick Howe in defense. Ronald Beeman has been named as the starter, but expect to see Timothy Purcell getting his fair share of playing time.

Squornshelous will play in their highly successful new 3-2-2-1-2 formation

The Lowland Clans Stars - The ASLC National Team
Manager: Westley Stjepan
Formation: 3-5-2 - Style +2
* denotes starters
C denotes Captain
Strikers
29 - Ryley Bloudin, Castle of Lisbon*
Ryley Bloudin at 23 is one of the most talented strikers in the Allied States. His first start with the team was a little rough, but after AOCAF he settled right in. His experience in three international tournaments will aid him in the years to come.
48 - Jonathan Kavanagh, Vancouver FC*
The first half of the famed Whitecap assault force, Kavanagh is a native Vancouverite who possess amazing skill with the ball. Many times in Premiership games he has withstood the assault of entire defences with the ball still at his feet. He also is reknowned for his accuracy in passing and shooting, and has been rumored to be able to knock a tennis ball of the head of a defender without touching them.
12 - Lucius Page, Vancouver FC
Lucuis Page impressed a lot of people with his performance at AOCAF, and with the promotion of Kavanagh, Stjepan and his staff figured that the pair would provide a ferocious front pair. Page is known for his ability to see the field and put himself where he needs to be to give his team a chance to score.

Midfielders
07 – Quentin Mackallen, Graham City FC * C
Mackallen is now in his second term as leader of the national team, his age for some has been an issue, but one of his former detractors, his fellow midfielder Konstantinoppolis is now one of his foremost proponents. For a lot of serious Clan football fans this has been a huge endorsement, and he will continue to use his massive bulk and nimble feet to help keep the ball moving.
11 – Phillip Konstantinoppolis, Highlanders*
A pickup from Thessolaniki Forrest, Konstantinoppolis is one of the most skilled ball 'hubs' in the States. His passing skills are second to none, and can thread the ball through almost any hole he can find. Once a candidate for captain of the squad, he lost the race because of his famed temper. After playing with Mackallen, he has calmed down considerably, and can only go up from here.
04 - Graham Mackenzie, Okehampton Citizen*
Replacing Pollack, whose career was destroyed after a torn hamgstring and ACL, there is a lot of pressure on Mackenzie to perform. With his size and ball skill, as well as his excellent communication skills and vision on the field, he is tagged to carry this team once Mackallen and Konstantinoppolis retire. With his relative young age of 25 on an aging team, he will also be looked to to provide energy to this team.
17 - Illia Krosti, FK Sarajevo
Illia Krosti is another call up from the B-Stars, and is expected to fight for the starting spot with Mackenzie. His vision and ball placement are incredible, but has had problems in the past with endurance and speed, being unable to keep up with many of the players on the field, and if he can bring his conditioning up, then that is expected to be the deciding factor on his play.
06 - Xavier Nathanson, Limassol United
Not expected to get much playing time on the field this time arounf, Nathanson simply just isn't as good as the others on this team. He is a jack-of-all-trades, but simply not a master at anything. He still is a fine all around player, but he lacks the talent and skill that permeates a lot of the team.

Wingers
03 – Jeff Johnston, Okehampton Citizen*
02 – Marteen Dubeckov, Glasgow United*
33 - Stevan Dragan, Graham City FC
36 - Elias Stephianos, Grand Captiva

Central Defenders
23 – Kellen Markoff, Glasgow United*
11 – Enrique Quisipani, Fort Manchester

Wing backs
40 – John Hughson, Kolossi Fields*
20 – Joaquim de Olivera, Castle of Lisbon*
25 – Rodrigo Martinez, Limassol United
24 – Illia Danov, Liverpool City

Keepers
00 - Olander Ilegochios, Okehampton Citizen*
99 – Greg vanden Bosh, Bolton Wanderers

MID: John Sanjeeb (19); Wol Eosh (6); Cyril Lange (18)
ATT: Ul U (23); William Smith (15) ; Nam Hyok-Jun (16)

Mostly familiar faces. Young prodigy Kyaw is finally among the starting eleven, but as a midfielder rather than an attacker. Smith and Nam are both making their World Cup debuts. By contrast, Leduc and Alt, now both 36 years old, may well be competing for the last time. For more information on players and the team in general, see here (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Ariddia%27s_football_team).

As previously, all home matches will take place in one of these five stadiums: Stade National Rêvane-Sud, Wavecrest City Stadium, Haven-Port-Nouveau Stadium, Darras Olympic Stadium (in the vicinity of Rêvane),or the Arctic National Stadium (in the Ariddian Arctic Islands). Feel free to choose which one if you post before me.

By now it goes without saying, but the Ariddians will perform the ulek (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Ulek) at the start of each match.

2-2-3-3 formation. (-2) modifier

Coach- Greg Tudor age 48 After the firing of Seamus Flannigan O’Connell after a dismal Dragonni Inviyatti performance after which the team as a whole signed a petition asking for him to be fired after his draconian ways backfired. Tudor is considered to be a coup of sorts, a former British soccer star in his day who moved to Tynelia after his career ended fourteen years ago and now claims dual citizenship. Some claim his choice is nothing more than a slap to the face of O’Connell but others claim otherwise. Tudor has expressed a desire to go back to the team’s roots and has stressed more of a defensive style again ignoring much of O’Connell’s attempts to create a more attacking style which never seems to work well with this unit.

Positioning
Masterson MacDougal
Kenders A.Collins
Pytte Leason B.Collins
Li Jacobs Stossels
Whiteworth

G- Amy Whiteworth (27-starter) Since her coming out party at the World Cup group stage in the World Cup 27, Whiteworth has taken the title of best keeper in Tynelia from Vladimar Malloy. Her nickname “Amazing” Amy was coined when she led Tynelia to a 2-0 shutout over the much higher ranked Nanakaland squad in group play and followed that up with a 1-1 draw against a top 10 Total n Utter Insanity team her next match. She looked overmatched however during the DI and people wonder how she will recover from that showing.
G- Vladimar Malloy (30-reserve) the man known as "The Wall" for his ability to seemingly block everything sent his way been surprassed by “Amazing” Amy as the top keeper after the Cup of Harmony. Some have claimed he’s lost a half step at his age and that this might be his final world cup appearance. However he is still an intimidating force to reckon with in the net. He hopes to bounce back from a poor DI as well.

F- Jay Masterson (27-starter) the flashy flamboyant Masterson was the league's goal scoring leader for the fifth time in six years. After some questioned his intensity during the group play of the previous World Cup he has become extremely focused in silencing these critics this time around. He turned some heads with his recent marriage to Tynelian Soccer Weekly special reports reporter Harmonie Harris but this has not affected his game in the least. Cynics claim the reason he has looked so forward to the coming competitions so he could get away from his endlessly babbling wife.
F- Brian Kenders (26-starter) a teammate of Masterson, Kenders has continued to be happy feeding his scorehappy teammate in league play and led the league in assists the past three years. His own scoring touch is still missing however as he put in a lone goal this year and that was mostly by accident.
F- Anya Collins- (22- starter) The younger sister of Brad Collins, Anya has really stepped it up this season as an all round player. In only her third year of league play, Anya made the top ten in assists and top 12 in goals scored earning her a spot on the team. Some have joked that Anya is the better Collins on the team.
F- Alan MacDougal- (21- starter) The brother of Tynelian Olympian speed skating bronze medalist Ginny MacDougal, Alan is ready to show that the MacDougal men can make as big a splash on the world stage as the women. One of seven MacDougal children Alan has been instilled with a competitive drive his while life. A rookie in league play Alan broke the top ten in goals and set a rookie record for goals breaking Jay Masterson’s seven year old mark which was enough to earn him a spot on the team. In his second season he was only a goal out of the top five.
F- Troy Wallace (30-reserve) Wallace is a veteran of thirteen years in the game at some level and is known in the league for his trickery. He always manages to find the seam in an opponent’s defense and takes advantage of that when the defense over responds to a fake attack which usually leaves a teammate wide open. While not as dominant as he was earlier in his career the “Duke of Deke” is still a wily ball handler with a killer shot. Some have said he volunteered to step back and be a reserve in order to get some of the young legs on the field more.
F- Joe Richards- (26- reserve) Richards finally took the next step after two years of showing potential and was in the top ten in total scoring this season for the second time in a row. An aggressive player by nature he is mindful that he can’t do it all himself and so has a respectable number of assists this season to go with his goals.

M/F- Brad Collins (29-stater) Collins has slightly mellowed as he has gotten older with a career low 3 yellow cards this year. Some say he’s suddenly trying to set a good example for younger sister Anya but his attacking style is still firmly in place. Tudor plans to place him on the opposite side from Masterson to keep opposing defenses honest. He was switched to forward at the halfway point of league play this season which is more suited to his play style but has been returned to the midfield by Coach O’Meara for the coming Cup.
M- Jeff Leason (26-starter) Leason has continued his stellar defensive ways since the World cup and is now almost a nonfactor on offense because of it. For this reason Tudor has kept him at the center of the defense knowing that he’ll let very few breakaways up the middle.
M- Adrian Pytte (31-starter) The former MVP has seen the future of the game and knows he probably has only a few years left as one of the elite. Managing to stay among the top ten in both goals and assist, Pytte is now hoping to pass on his experience to the younger members of the team to help them through the new experience of world play. Pytte has been named Team Captain by Coach Tudor.
M/F- Andy Martins (24-reserve) Once a controversial choice to be included, the grandson of President Jacob Martins has emerged into another future star in the game. O’Connell admitted that had he kept the same formation as last Cup Martins would have been named a starter. Solid both offensively and defensively Martins has spent a bit more time at forward this season and given up on the attempt to turn him into a defensive player.
M- Bret Brantley (29-reserve) Brantley was a bit of a surprise choice as he was injured for a good part of the season for the second year in a row with a broken wrist and was only really getting back into his regular form when the season ended. O’Connell defended his choice saying that he had the experience at this sort of thing already and no one else really had that great a season to replace him.
M/D- Donna Kent (26-reserve) Kent again led the league with a +14 scoring differential as her defense has continued to improve. Injuries to her team forced her to switch to defense for part of the season and she acquitted herself well before she returned to her regular spot. Offensively she is a better ball handler and passer than shooter scoring just three goals this season with an average amount of assists.

D- John Stossels (29-starter) Stossels is living proof of having "soccer in your blood". Both his parents and his grandfather were all soccer players in their day though national leagues weren't around then. As such Stossels was almost raised on a soccer field and is almost never found out of position or caught off guard. Stossels was the four time Defender of the Year with his streak finally ending two seasons ago when he finished second in the voting to Tal Li. Even more savvy than before Stossels has been accused of being a mind reader as he can read where a pass is going almost before the pass is made.
D- Karl Jacobs (28-starter) Still argueably the best ballhandler in the league, Jacobs is often lost in the shuffle when it comes to Tynelian defenders. However Jacobs is a quiet leader and has always been able to hold up his end of the bargain on defense. He will usually be the one to take the ball upfield to start an attack.
D-Tal Li (23-starter) Still the fastest man on the field, Li finally ended Stossels’ stranglehold on defensive player of the league honors and won it himself for the second year in a row. More aggressive than Stossels is in going after a player carrying the ball, Li knows he has the speed to recover from any mistakes if someone does get by him. Li was the leader this season in steals.
D- Reggie Moore- (31- reserve) a good angle defenseman, Moore is excellent at forcing the opponents to stay along the perimeter and take bad angle shots. He has fast feet and can steal a ball from a dribbling opponent in a flash and start it up the other way. He was fourth in the league in steals this season.
D- Bonnie Davis- (25- reserve) Davis is another newcomer to world play but earned her spot with a +7 scoring differential which placed her third overall in that and she was second in the league in steals making her someone who was more than capable of holding onto a one goal lead late in a game.

Haraki Hawks coach Lloyd Vargas today announced the lineup that will be representing the nation in World Cup XXVIII. Unsurprisingly, a lot of the team is left over from the previous year. As Vargas and team captain Mike Zendar said before WCXXVII, this year they are using the experience of the World Cup veterans on the team to balance out the aggressive talent of the younger additions, primarily Richard Weber. There are some changes from the World Cup XXVII lineup, most notably that two of Haraki's oldest veteran footballers have retired, either from international play or in general. Also many of the reservists and starters from the last team have been moved around the field or onto and off the bench. Vargas is playing with a new team, that much is clear, even though many of the players are the same.

He has also announced Haraki will be using their customary 2-5-3 setup, emphasizing a strong presence in the midfield to allow both defensive and offensive play. Two forwards, five midfields and three defencemen allow the Hawks to send seven players forward to attack or bring eight back to defend, giving them a very versatile approach to the game. The team will be playing with a +2 offensive modifier, as befits Vargas still trying his new aggressive coaching strategy.

Mike Zendar – Forward, Captain, national superstar – Kiros Tigers FC
A national hero and all-round great player, he has the best kick in all of Haraki. With a total of seventeen goals in international play, he has scored more than twice as many goals as any other Harakian player. He’s a great leader and a superb offensive player, which is why he gets to be captain of the team.
Samuel Sharp – Forward – North Susa FC
Another great forward, he scored six goals throughout WC27 and its associated tournaments, bringing him third in scoring for the Hawks, after Zendar and Cortes. A young player compared to some of the others, he still has a good deal of experience playing for the North Susa football club, of which he is a veteran of four years.
(R) Alicia Ribald – Forward – Arkia Serpents FC
One of the two Ribald sisters, who have taken Harakian football by storm. The older of the two, she is an aggressive offensive player who can handle the ball past anyone in Haraki club play. With a fierce sense of national pride, many have speculated that, had Haraki taken a standard 3-4-3 setup, she would have been the third forward.
(R) Matthew Thompson – Forward – Uses Coast FC
Uses Coast’s major goal scorer has secured a spot as Haraki’s second reservist forward for WC28, mostly due to an upturn in his goal scoring and skill in play over the last season. Usually thought a good, if not spectacular player, over the last season he took a dramatic swing up, leading Uses Coast in scoring and bringing him to the forefront of the race for Haraki’s Forward spots. It’s little wonder that Vargas and Zendar picked him for their second reserve forward. Although he may not see much play time, he’ll definitely prove himself when he does.

Thomas Neils – Centre – North Susa FC
One of the older players on the team, Neils is an excellent team player. His passing is second to none, allowing him to drop the ball wherever it needs to be at the drop of a hat. He had the most assists of any Harakian player throughout World Cup 27, and is tied with Samantha Ribald for fourth-most goals of the team, each with three in international play.
Richard Weber – Centre – North Susa FC
The youngest player on the team and also most likely one of the best, he is considered the best rookie ever in Harakian football, even surpassing Mike Zendar as a youth. In his three seasons in Haraki club play, he has already gotten into the top five scorers (per season) of all time, of which Zendar himself holds the number one spot. He’s aggressive, tough, fast and strong, and has a maddeningly offensive mindset. No doubt many people are expecting great things from him.
Samantha Ribald – Centre – Arkia Serpents FC
The second and youngest of the Ribald sisters, she is not quite as aggressive as her sister, but still a dangerous opponent. She proved herself a capable offensive midfield during World Cup 27, and has scored one goal in every international tournament she has ever been in for Haraki.
Julie Vern – Centre – Arkia Serpents FC
A young woman, whose parents were immigrants to Haraki. She grew up in the port city of Arkia, playing football with herself on the streets. As such, she is the best ball handler on the entire team, and can run faster than any other player on the Haraki Hawks while maintaining control of the ball. A reservist for WC27, she was made a starter after her outstanding ball handling led to overwhelming Harakian posession in multiple games throughout the previous World Cup.
Manuel Cortes – Centre – Atherlon United Football Club
A surprisingly aggressive player, he stands only 5’9” tall and under 150 pounds, but makes up for it with a dangerous attitude. He’s leading the Haraki league for penalties against, because he’s very good at riling up opposing players, mainly because he’s so damn cocky. His playing style is loose and uncontrolled, but also raw and primal, and surprisingly effective. He is second on the team for goals in interntional play.
(R) Lawrence Foster – Centre – Viusa Centre FC
A slow but steady supporting player, he is a very large man. With close to ten years in Haraki club play, he’s never been a star player, but is always the anchor of the team, supporting offensive and defensive plays equally. He makes an excellent all-round player, and while not the fastest runner on the team, makes up for it in bulk.
(R) Luke Ford – Centre – Arkia Serpents FC
Another player whose role on the team is similar to Foster’s, there are still numerous differences between their styles. Ford is smaller, faster and more of an enforcer for the team. He is in the top three players in the Haraki Football League (HFL) for penalties, and while not a great scorer, can still pull off some good shots, and a lot of good passes.
(R) Allison Keyes – Centre – Uses Coast FC
An ardent feminist and fast offensive midfield, Allison Keyes is a strong all-round player, although mostly on the offence. She’s been playing for the Uses Coast football club for five years even after getting a four-year degree from the University of Kiros, granting her a certain veteran’s right on and off the field.
(R) Catherine Veritas Ezaniea – Centre – Caltis Football Club
The highlight of the Caltis Football Club, widely regarded as the worst big-city team in Haraki. She scores most of their goals and prevents more goals from being scored than the goalkeeper does. Unsurprisingly, she is the only player on the Hawks representing Caltis FC. Scored a goal against Starblaydia in her very first-ever international game.

Bruce Forrester – Defence – Isasi Warriors FC
Surprisingly nimble for a man of his size, Forrester dominates the right side of Haraki’s end. Very few can get the ball past him, and he manages to be fast, big and in control at all times. His main weakness is a self-imposed inhibition that he never takes the ball up past half, preferring to always pass to someone farther up and return to his comfortable defensive spot.
Sandy Thorpe – Defence – Pethic-Ferria FC
A simple man from the Borderlands, the massive mountain range in the north of Haraki. Still speaks with a Borderland accent, and signed to the only football club in Haraki proud of the fact that they’re Haraki’s equivalent of hicks. Based out of Pethic and representing the entire massive province of Ferria – mostly deserts and mountains – Thorpe is the embodiment of the Pethic-Ferria football club. Big, relatively slow, but impossible to stop once he gets moving. A dangerous opponent with a powerful, if somewhat inaccurate, kick.
Jonah Menike – Defence – Kiros Tigers FC
Plays on the same team as Haraki superstar Mike Zendar, and was originally slated as a reservist for the tournament. He was brought in after Peterson was injured in the first game of the Pre-WC27 Baptism of Fire, and has not sat out of a game since. In numerous games he has been single-handedly responsible for keeping the ball out of the Harakian end. Fast, nimble, and with a quick and powerful kick, he has even managed a goal in international play.
(R) Werner Vittenbach – Defence – Rion Area FC
Born of immigrant parents, Vittenbach managed to get a slot on one of Haraki’s worst football club teams just this season, hoping to break out and be signed to a better team. He displays excellent speed, agility and passing, although his shooting could use some work. Very young and energetic, and one of the youngest members on the team at twenty-two, having gotten a four-year degree from the University of Atherlon before signing to Rion Area FC. He played starting defence all four years for the first-tier UoA team, and was signed straight out of university by Rion Area, desperate to improve their defence to keep shots away from their bad keeper.
(R) Nathan Rogers – Defence – Uses Coast FC
An all-round good player. He excels at nothing but is good at everything, and got Haraki’s last reserve spot for defence. Not expected to see much play. Did not see much play throughout all of World Cup 27 and its associated tournaments.

Mark Stone – Goalkeeper – North Susa FC
The HFL’s best goaltender, far and away. Just in the time he has been in the HFL for the North Susa club, he has taken them to four final games and won two of them. For some time he was compared to Tynelia’s Vladimar ‘The Wall’ Malloy as starting keepers in international play, but proved them wrong when he stopped all shots for a 3-0 shutout against Tynelia in the Cup of Harmony. He is expected to be seeing a lot more action this year, with Haraki's newly offensive play style, he will most likely be seeing some more shots to block.
(R) Susana Hamilton – Goalkeeper – Arkia Serpents FC
Another good footballer to come out of the streets of the port city of Arkia, where poverty levels have risen so dramatically over the last thirty years that she came from the exact same background as reserve midfield Julie Vern. Has only ever played only one game in international play, versus Imperial Moose, after Stone was incapacitated in a red card-worthy attack, and allowed only one goal past her against a fierce offence.
(R) Bobbie Morris – Goalkeeper – Atherlon United Football Club
Goalkeeper for Atherlon United, he’s a decent enough keeper, but nothing phenomenal. Definitely worth keeping an eye on, but only if both others are incapacitated. Maybe if Mark Stone retired early or if Morris got a lot better over the next few years he might secure a primary reservist or even a starter spot.

Coach – Lloyd Vargas
Once a star player for the North Susa football club, which has historically been one of the best teams in the country, he retired at age thirty-six and has been coaching North Susa ever since. He’s taken them to three championship games and two victories in the five years he’s been coaching them, and now has been appointed the head coach for the Haraki Hawks. He will probably keep on coaching the national team until he retires from coaching as well, which is a long way in the future.

The changes from last year's team are as follows:

Defenceman Owen Peterson retired from football altogether, citing his age and the injury to his tendon as reasons. His tendon was injured in the very first game of the pre-WC27 Baptism of Fire and kept him out of that tournament entirely. After seeing how well his replacement, Jonah Menike, played, he voluntarily gave up his starter spot to the young man. In his retirement, he has been replaced on the bench by new blood Werner Vittenbach.

Forward Zachary Burns, the oldest player on the team and captain of the HFL's Atherlon United Football Club (The captain was Peterson until he retired), retired from international play, citing his reasons as 'The other teams are too fast for me' and 'I need to spend more time with my family, not go off gallivanting around the world playing football in games where I don't even play. I'm happy just to stay at home in Atherlon with my wife and children, and play football against other HFL teams.' He was replaced on the reserve forward bench by Matthew Thompson, the surprise breakout star of Uses Coast FC. Burns had not seen any international play through the entire World Cup XXVII year, spending all his time on the bench.

Reserve centre Archie Wilkes did not make the team this year, Zendar and Vargas choosing instead to take new blood Richard Weber and make him a starter.

The defensive starting lineup remains the same, with the same three starting defenders and the exact same goalkeepers. The starting forwards are still Samuel Sharp and Mike Zendar. But the starting centres have been switched up, bringing Julie Vern up from reserve player to starter, and bringing Richard Weber straight into a starting spot. Lawrence Foster and Luke Ford were both relegated to spots on the bench, but are considered the two primary candidates for replacement of a player who does badly. Also if Haraki needs a show of force on the field, they are the ones Vargas will most likely turn to.

Bettia World Cup 28 Squad

Style Modifier

We don't do defence - we trash defence.

In typically gung-ho fashion, Bettia will be playing with as positive a style modifier as possible (+2), utilising a highly attacking 3-4-3 / 3-2-5 formation.

Roleplaying

If RPing first, the FAB give our opponents permission to RP / godmod pretty much anything they like... just don't kill or maim anyone, or we'll send the boys round - kapeesh?

Squad

(Appearances and Goals correct up to start of AOCAF XIII)

Goalkeepers:

1. Ricardo DiTorino - Akani Sands, age 24, 100 caps.
This hugely experienced keeper has joined the ever-growing ranks of Arora-centurions, and all at the tender age of 24. Is there no stopping this agile shot-stopper?

12. Von Bietsch - Gabalfa City, age 30, 15 caps, 1 goal
Giant 6'7" goalkeeper who gained international experience with the now-defunct nation of Vtorbetin. A strong showing in Cup of Harmony 17 (including a last-gasp goal) and the previous AOCAF saw him earn a callup to the previous World Cup squad, where he gained a further two caps.

Defence:

2. Gwynoro Tyrno'r - Makosile United (Vilita), age 24, 53 caps, 1 goal.
An exciting young defensive talent whose strong displays earned him a move to the Vilitan league. After being used mainly as a sub for the last few campaigns, strong performances together with international retirements has seen him emerge as a first-teamer, and he's grasped this opportunity with both hands.

3. Geraint Carew - Gabalfa Rovers, age 31, 136 caps, 10 goals.
One of the most experienced and consistant players in the squad. A dependable tackler and swift counter-attacker, Carew also shows some prowess from the penalty spot, as demonstrated by his 10 goals for newly-crowned champions Gabalfa Rovers.

4. Jon McKinnon - Patriots Everton (Krytenia), age 25, 85 caps.
Like Gwynoro Tyrno'r, McKinnon worked his way through the Under-21 ranks before clinching a spot in the full international squad at a young age, and, like Tyrno'r, his potential was spotted by foreign talent scouts. He's been a mainstay of Bettia's back three for many years.

13. John Hanson - Akani Sands, age 24, 29 Caps
Forms the nucleus of a strong Akani Sands' defence, and after his rock-solid performances in Cup of Harmony 17, the management will be looking for a similar performance here.

14. Rabah Hopcin - CPD Porthbalfa, age 26, 14 caps
Hopcin is the cornerstone of a stingy Porters defence, his powerful displays during CofH 17 have seen him earn a place in the World Cup squad.

Midfield:

5. John Connick - Rolestu FC (Bedistan), age 34, 132 caps, 1 goal - captain.
His keen awareness of players around him and pinpoint passes has established this midfield dynamo as the playmaker of the team, and his consistant performances in the green and gold have earned him the prestige of being named as captain.

6. Badr Warlow - Gabalfa City, age 26, 51 caps, 8 goals.
An emerging talent whose free-kicks are famed and feared within the Apex League. Scored 3 times in the last world cup qualifying campaign, and will be looking to muscle his way into the first team after spending many years in the shadows of Evan Brooks (who announced his international retirement after AOCAF XII) and Connick.

15. Ziyad Farmer - Porasse (Nedalia), age 24, 23 caps, 1 goal
Young central midfielder whose impressive displays saw him become an ever-present for Bettia during recent tournaments. After an impressive season in the Nedalian Premier League, he's raring to go.

16. Ali Ap Tegryn - Lorshill City, age 24, 26 caps, 3 goals
Another young midfielder who also impressed during the Cup of Harmony. Is devasting from long range and at set plays.

Wingers:

7. Ieaun Swain - Grappenhall United, age 27, 94 caps, 4 goals.
An exceptionally quick player who has made the left-wing slot his own. After enjoying another tremendous season with a resurgent Grappenhall United, he'll be hoping his club form translates onto the international field, just as it did in the last World Cup.

11. Jason Abdullah - Butetown Dragons, age 24, 64 caps.
A firey winger who usually plays on the right but just as capable on the left, making him an ideal member for this squad. Has performed exceptionally well in the new set-up, although he has lost his rag on more than one occasion.

17. Jamie Kingsholm - Grappenhall, age 24, 17 caps
Exciting young striker who has formed part of the feared strikeforce at his home-town club with Sarzonian international Roy Spencer. Is equally at home in the centre or in his favoured position on the left wing.

18. Laurie LeClerc - Zupera (Nedalia), age 24, 35 Caps, 4 goals
Tricky winger/centre-forward whose speed and skill serves him more than well in the Nedalian Premier league, where he was named Player of the Year. With his confidence sky-high, he'll be staking a claim for a starting place before too long.

Forwards:

8. Latif Hunter - Aigburth Athletic (Krytenia), age 24, 82 caps, 35 goals.
A true wonderkid, Hunter astounded the Bettian footballing scene by winning the Golden Boot during the first Apex League. Has been playing in Krytenia for a couple of seasons where the experience seems to have done hime a world of good. Forms parts of Bettia's feared front-three with Hutton and York.

9. Chris Hutton - Marine Coast United (Vilita), age 23, 111 caps, 53 goals.
A prolific scorer in international football who makes his living in the V-League. TThe centrepiece of Bettia's front line for a few seasons now, he is famed for his terrier-like tenacity and shooting accuracy.

10. Judson York - Pylos Reavers (Hypocria), age 31, 106 caps, 60 goals.
Fearsome. There's no other word to describe Judson York. His skill, speed and power has seen him set the Hypocrian league on fire over the last couple of seasons, coming away with the Golden Boot on more than one occasion. He has established himself as a first team regular for Bettia. A versatile striker who can play as a centre-forward or on either wing.

19. Brennan Alasanne - Ceffinton Town, age 26, 24 Caps, 9 goals
Former international striker with the now non-existant Liamist States who has now become a naturalised Bettian. A pacy player with a keen eye for goal, as he proved in Bettia's march to the Cup of Harmony final.

20. Oliver Stankovic - CPD Porthbalfa, age 23, 15 Caps, 4 goals
Another striker from the former Liamist States who has become a naturalised Bettian. This youngster with a stong left foot has consistantly figured in the Apex League top scorers list ever since joining the Porters, and is slowly but surely establishing himself as an Aroras regular.

21. Ieuan Howerth - CPD Porthbalfa, age 24, 27 caps, 2 goals.
After spending some time abroad, Howerth has returned to his former club after the Liamist States went belly-up. Howerth is nicknamed The Flea because he irritates and taunts opponents with his flair and skill, which sometimes makes him the target of some crunching tackles.

Apologetic Kittens
17-04-2006, 17:39
The Kittens, fresh off of a last 16 finish in the Cup of Harmony, will be hoping to make an impact in World Cup Qualifying with a +1 formation and the following squad:

Head Coach:
Bobby Davis: 47: Brought in to replace Wilson, he's hoping for success. The last tournament looked promising.

Goalkeepers:
Ronnie "Wets the bed" Weeter: 27: Proven his position as first choice keeper with a marvellous hsowing during the CoH.
Harry Kanaga: 25: Son of legend Horace Kanaga, he'll be hoping to push Weeter for a place.
Michael Alington: 20: Hoping to break into the team, but the talents of the other keepers may keep him out.

Right Backs:
Edward Polson: 29: Cousin of former Kitten Elroy, and has a lot of pace to exemplify his tackling prowess.
Clive Millhouse: 21: Strong, and a suitable replacement for Polson when it's needed.

Left Backs:
Jamel Wynter: 29: Quick and agile, he's been known to be light on the tackle, but should cause problems aplenty for any wingers looking to run in.
Robert Campbell: 26: Strong and fast, he's caused more injuries than any player with his disciplinary record should.

Centre Backs:
Edward Kiefer: 25: Top talent, his speed causes many problems for the opposition..
Harry Reed: 21: Powerful and a real threat to opposing strikers.
Tony Ashmore: 21: The third member of a backline which showed youth was not a disadvantage.

Defensive Midfielders:
Lee Roberts: Captain: 35: Ageing, but still the heart of the squad, he proves himself every game.
Jonathan Unk: 30: With Roberts in the team he may not get a chance to play. But he's a top player, showing why this is the strongest area of the AK squad.

Right Wingers:
Edward Newman: 24: Widely regarded as the best player produced in the nation, he's practically unstoppable.
Alphonso Chase: 28: The right winger for many years, he's been unlucky to occupy the position of Newman.

Left Wingers:
Raul Chase: 30: Slowed down a little in recent years, but still showing the kind of ability that keeps him on the wing.
Daniel Schofield: 17: Not much to say about him, really. He gets the job done with hard work.

Attacking Midfielders:
Enrique Monroe: 29: He pushes past everything in his way, but a tendency to get carried away with tricks may cost him. Showed some marvellous footwork late in qualifying. Shame it's taken him so long to fully blossom.
Anton "Ant" Aultman: 25: At 5'6" he is known for turning up where you least expect him.

Strikers:
Dewey Gronko: 30: Fast and energetic he perfectly is happy running at goal the whole game.
Daniel Leichter: 20: A new young striker in the mold of Iron Boot. Great hopes rest on the lads powerful right foot.
James Telence: 18: A good all-round striker
James Moore: 19: Quick, he's rumoured to be replacing Gronko after this campaign.

Milchama finally announce roster

After qualifying for the World Cup in their 4th attempt the Milchama Warriors are ready to play again. This time though they have a new reshaken although of course they are still going to play the 3-3-4 and have a +2 attack bonus as always. The real question for the Milchamians this cup is whether they can replace Marc J. Floren and Silas Milckey who are both retiring from international football. Coach Jamie Smith said, "We have plenty of capable who can play at these spots that they are leaving at. Anyway we have lost great players before and rebounded like when we lost Billy Timmons. I have a feeling we will do just fine." Now onto the roster:

Gk: Clay Finton- A great goalkeeper who makes many great saves and has forced Tuck Koolerc out of a spot where he looked entrenched to be keeper for a long time. Still looking for a boost of confidence after a disastourous World Cup.
D: Casey Stockholm- A good wing defender who got to start after his play on the ball made Jamie Smith take him barely over Brandon Callers.
D: Kendric Pevington- Not flashy but a very good central defender. Does not have the speed to play wing back so is in the center again. Always a good bet to make the play needed to keep the other team from scoring.
D: Mills Thompson- Tall and good in the air. His headers will help on both offense and defense. Didn't play in either the DI or AOCAF and hopes the rest will help him for this WC.
M: Elana Kilinin- Her great play was key to them qualifying and after helping the Milchama women in their world cup is back to play with the men. She will again be relied upon to get a spark in the offense. Some good play and she might stick as a player.
M:Antoine Sanchez- Great dribbler, good passer a perfect central midfielder. Put in the squad to try to connect the strikers with the defenders.
M: Darian Flinters- Very fast and a good shooter. Will be a major part of the offense. His wing play with Kilinin will be key for the Milchmian offense. His deadly speed will again be needed for advancement.
F: Dunston Copperlee (Captain)- Best soccer player Milchama has ever produced so far. Will be expected to do everything. His play in the center at the DI helped him regain his goal scoring touch which he expects to continue.
F: Spot Nielson- No longer in the shadow of Floren or anybody else he will be expected to pick up some of that goal scoring slack and is going to do the job very well if past expierience is something to go on.
F: Floren Albentine-A great goalscorer who did his job replacing Floren very well in the DI. His play will be key as he is the one that many charge as replacing Floren. Success or failure in this, according to many, relies on him and his adjustment to international football.
F: J.J. Faren- A great crosser and a good goalscorer. While his goalscoring seems to decrease by the World Cup his crosses and play creating improves if he can keep those up then it won't matter how many goals he scores.

Subs:
F: Matt Bantin- The header and supersub still did not crack the starting 11 with Floren gone. He is desperate to prove that was a big mistake.
Gk: Marcos Ollins- With Koolerc getting old after a two cup hiatus Ollins has finally made it back to the national team. Now he just needs to get start...
D: Brandon Callers- His wing play is very good and he will challenge Casey Stockholm for his spot the whole world cup.
M: Johnny Rintell- He finally got a chance and was key to Milchama even getting to the World Cup. Now he just doesn't want to be a super sub but a starter.
F: Aaron Kary- The teammate of Floren. His crosses have been compared to Faren's and many consider him to be better than J.J. If so he needs to prove it.

Bold indicates new starter or sub.
Alternates:
F: Zar Johnson
M: Marin Keffer
F: Bat Nackson
D: Kyoga Marcazumi
F: Daveed Lintooney
M: Chuck Farenstein
GK: Tuck Koolerc
D: Mariosz Florfenord
M/F: Bobby Martin
F: Bat Nackson
M: Del Clufor

Mr Chuck Norris
18-04-2006, 01:16
Alright, it’s true that the Fighting Norris have pretty much failed at life over their past dozen matches, not even pulling off a single win, but things are about to change. Coach Bob Janney has recently submitted the Fighting Norris lineup to the much-anticipated World Cup 28.

The Roster of Mr Chuck Norris
# Name-(Age)-Amount of Goals in World Cup sanctioned events
Head Coach
Bob Janney (31)
● He is infamous for his in-depth group analysis, but not for his coaching ability. While some people may view this as a problem, Bob Janney always manages to squeeze out a couple wins in World Cup play.
Goalkeepers
1 Mr. Bednarik (26)
● His humble beginnings as a hockey goalie paved the way for a successful goalkeeping career. He had several shining moments in the 27th World Cup, the most notable being only ceding two goals in the 2-2 draw against the offensive dynamo of Liverpool England.
2 Allen Price (23)
● His ego frustrates many players on the team. However, in the event that Mr. Bednarik cannot goalkeep for any particular reason, Allen Price will have to step up to the plate.
Defenders
3 ♪ (?)
● Recruited off the streets of downtown New Poorleans, ♪ can’t speak English and no one knows anything about him. However, he’s proven that he can in fact contribute to a national football defense and has played a key role in several matches.
7 Jack Moon (22)
● A player who has actually emerged with some talent, he has certainly helped the Fighting Norris defense.
8 Scottest Hovest (24)
● The self proclaimed best Scott in the world, his ego is second only to Allen Price’s. However, while Price can’t back up his talk, this man can.
Midfielders
9 Pat Smock (25)
● Easily the second most famous man in The Holy Empire of Mr Chuck Norris. He is best known for appearances on AA Live, mass producing the 512 Disc DVD set “Mass and You” and attending random leadership conferences. His sole purpose for being on the team is to generate ticket sales. However, he's also shown potential on the field.
10 Donald Rump (36)
● Responsible for supporting Mr Chuck Norris’ “All-Consuming” economy, this man’s surprisingly got some talent.
12 Zach Brickhouse (20) 1 Goal
● He was one of Japan’s best midfielders until he was deported for skipping one day of school. The first and only Fighting Norris midfielder to date with a goal.
13 Yianni Karvo (22)
● Just to warn everyone now, Yianni plays dirty. He in fact plays so dirty that he was suspended for a good amount of the Baptism of Fire after he was caught intentionally beating several opponents into submission. However, he’s mellowed down his act and is showing more talent every match.
14 Randy Cross (29)
● Easily has the biggest afro of any player on any team. This man, along with Pat Smock, is the primary substitute for the Fighting Norris midfield.
15 Paper Mario (Paper Doesn’t Age)
● And you thought he was just a video game character. His weightlessness and aerodynamic form allow him to cover a great amount of the field, making him a deadly midfielder. Although no one has tallied the amount of assists this player has, we can assure you it’s by far the most on the team.
Forwards
16 Chuck Norris (Supercedes time and therefore has no age) 22 Goals
● Two Words: Roundhouse Kick. This man is the heart and soul of the team and will not hesitate to score a goal in any given match.
17 OJ Pimpson (28) 4 Goals
● Let’s just say he’s got a deadly shot.
18 The Burger King (Doesn’t seem to age) 3 Goals
● That’s right, you all know him. His dashing smile and uncanny speed make him a threat in any match.
19 Brian Boitano (18)
● A young talent whose bound to be a large producer for the Fighting Norris' massive offense.
20 John Fedo (18) 3 Goals
● A fairly new member of the squad, Fedo has already been making some noise on the World Cup stage. He scored the Fighting Norris' only three goals in the Cup of Harmony in light of Chuck Norris' absence.

“As you can see, we’ve changed some things around... again”, exclaims Bob Janney, coach of the Fighting Norris. We're trying something new that has rarely if ever been seen in World Cup play. We've gone from a 3-4-3 to a 3-3-4, and now to an all-out 2-3-5. With the addition of Brian Boitano, our offense will grow to be one of the best ever seen on the World Cup stage. Will it be this year? Probably not? However, by World Cup 30, I expect us to be a World Cup threat. With only three defenders on the roster, they will be almost constantly rotated throughout the game. That's all I really have to say about that."

Having wowed the neutrals by qualifying on there debut in WC26 the ''Islanders'' failed to get to WC27 and made the Semi Finals of the COH. However this is side that seen plenty of changes over the last four years.

Septuagenarian coach, Jose Manua, is still in charge having brought in plenty of youngblood to the 'Seleccion' (national side).

Coach: Jose Manua (67)
1. Jose Sullop (GK) (la Union) (31)
A veteran of the Seleccion he previously was understudy to Adolfo Mumbalo however he became first choice for national team after the last COH tournament.
12. Amadeo Vargas (Gk) (Minas) (24)
Understudy to Sullop for three seasons now the young goalies career has gone from strenght to strength after leaving FC Seishal for Minas.

2. Jorge De Haro (L/R Center/Wing Back) (Estrella Rojo) (23)
Strong tackler with great technical ability with both feet, a veteran of the side that failed to reach WC27 but got to the SF of the COH.
3. Alfonso Boqueron (R Center Back) (Minas) (24)
Tall cultured defender, like De Haro a vet of WC27 and the SF of the COH.

Little wing back noted for pace and strength, since the retirement of Francisco Mumbalo has taken up the captaincy of the 'Seleccion'.
14. Mattias Lopez Cerro (L Center/Wing Back) (Alcantara) (23)
Combative wing back, noted for his short temper and Macho posturings.
15. Angel Santos (R Center Back) (Minas) (25)
A product of the Minas academy, has been a regular fixture for his club side for five seasons, called up to the 'Seleccion' last season. Strong and reliable.
19. Jorge Merello (L Center Back) (Estrella Rojo) (22)
A product of the Estrella Rojo youth academy Great technical defender who packs a combination of strength and pace.

5. Toni Souletano (Central midfielder) (Minas) (27)
Easily the finest central midfielder on the island with an amazing work rate coupled with good technical abilities, a real box to box player with the stamina to last the 90 minutes. A veteran of WC26.
6. Armando Ribera (L winger/midfield) (Alcantara) (26)
Versatile and capable midfielder, a veteran of the WC26 side.
7. Marco Ruedas (right midfield) (Minas) (31)

8. Butch Lim (Central Midfielder) (Estrella Rojo) (22)
Young Midfielder in the mould of the retired great Ferdinando Alomar, great range of passing combined with stunning workrate. Has had a fantastic career for the last 3 seasons with his club sealing three sucessive league titles. A vet of WC27 and the QF of the COH.

9.Carlos ''Carlito'' Gaurin (Striker) (Alcantara)(31)
The heart and soul of his club, pint sized yet blessed with terrific pace and outrageous skills, impressed during WC26 and was a key player in the last COH. Together with Marco Ruedas and the retired Andres Chavicano a sporting icon of the island.
10. Jose Mahabal (Striker) (La Union) (25)
Noted for strength, height and pace, while lacking the technical aspects of Guarin or Sacario his sheer strength and determination are key assets.

The New-Lexington soccer club is looking to WC 28, and after a frustrating Baptism of Fire, with low excpectations, but with great anticipation. A defenseman, Mason Crosby has looked good in drills, hes big and very physical, he lead the New-Lexington premiere league drawing 46 yellow cards during the 50 game seasons. Trevor Trudeau is one of the best dribblers in the world, but lacks size. He could get banged around by opposing defensemen. Trevor Griggs is a prolific goalscorer at striker, and he has good size. Michael Lee is a superb goaltender with quick feet. Frazier Smith... well he sucks, but he still made the roster.
New-Lexington will attack with a 3-2-5, concentrating on defece. (-5)

Lead by forwards Kavelt and Answoir, the team is known for their high octane offense backed by a stellar defense. In their World Cup debut, will the team live up to their expectations?

The Sturmkrieger will play with a style mod of +1

Team Colours

Goalie Home: All Black, even the cap
Goalie Away: Imperial Purple all over

Stadium

Southern Island Peaks

An all seater modern stadium, retractable roof, special look is the old clock on the West bank. Capacity of 40,000, seats the colour of the national team. On the hot southern island ruled by General Jared, brother of the ruler Jude to gain him goodwill, the heat and sudden rain can be off putting. Beside a rushing river, quite a few ball boys have never returned from going in the river which is called "Catincoa death."

Manager

Jude Takerath-27-Manager: Passionate, he can often be seen on the sidelines trying to rally the team. A clever man, he knows how to manipulate the media but lacks the man management skills to rally the team in dark times. Otherwise a recluse, his glasses only add to his scholarly look. When the team isn't playing, he will study, read or play a game of chess.

Squad

Tactics: Mostly a defending side, they will push forward if behind by anything up to two goals in the last twenty minutes. Normally, they lump the ball forward for the lone forward to hold up till players get forward. Willing to use the offside trap and press from front to back

SS SS

LM CM RM
DM
LB CD CD RB
GK

Starting line up:

Gary Jens-29-GK.
Tall, tanned, agile, good at narrowing the angle, he has many strengths. He has three flaws however: his fiery temper, crosses and being somewhat inconsistent. This man can make a fantastic save only to let a 30 yarder through his legs. Willing to sweep up behind the defence

Only playing due to Seamen's retirment

Leslie Butcher-22-LB:
inexperienced but quick and eager. Likes to attack but his shots tend to be wayward. Does not like having to man mark someone as someone good with the ball can tear him apart and fairly short so lacks ability in the air. Otherwise a promising defender who deserves his chance

Philip Cole-33-RB
Solid defender lets little past him. Slow but not enough to be much of a hindrance. Dependable but if something unexpected happens, he gets caught out. His left foot is injury prone.

Jamie Hargreves-32-Def/Mid:
plays anywhere in defence or in midfield but is pretty average. Good as fresh legs but that is about it. Heavens help us that he starts for us at the moment

Jonathan Yan 30-CB-captain:
strong in the air and in the tackle, this man has emerged from troublesome youth to a quality defender. Lacks pace but has threat in the air that will be useful at set pieces.

Rio Samba-32-DM:
A ball playing centre back but prone too playing off the pace and for being distracted. Recently been tried aat DM and deserves his chance since Abel retired.

Steven Milnar-27-Winger:
Has progressed up the Cuation league as a promising talent but has never quite fuffiled it. A winger who looks to sneak into the box and score, he is also pretty good when he stays wide. Replaces the retired Stanely Edwards

Timothy Ashton-32-RM:
A true winger uses power, pace and tricks to get past his man so he can hit a stinging cross in. Loves to attack and has a blistering shot. One of those looking for flick on from target man. Can get isolated and frustrated

Roy Ferguson-35-CM:
box to box midfielder with a nasty temper. His job is too support the attack or defence, depending on the situation. Fair passer of the battle, good tackle but few goals in his career, he tends to leave shooting to others. Legs going as heplays his last cup

Rual Mendisez-23-striker:
Pacy small goalscorer. Doesn't fit in with the style of play and can not dribble or jump much but useful in the counter attack or to chase a lead. Can suffer from his own doubts and arrogance.

Cuation’s joint top goalscorer at Bof 25

Peter "Beanpole" Tanner-35-striker:
The target man, big and good at holding up the ball. Lacks speed and fails to score but his main job is to bring others into the game. Last tournment as age creeps up with him

Bench
GK: Judo Monsseri-31

Devout Roman Catholic who will act as the diplomat of the team. Good keeper, he is as good as a second choice keeper as we have.

CB: Swiss ""Cheese" Charag -22

Lives with his minority tribe in the mountains, powerful on air and ground, sure on his feet. Too old for U21 Cup, many are wondering why Jamie is ahead of Cheeese.

Heskey Anderton-30-LM/ST:
a striker played out of position on the left wing, covering for the lack of left wingers. Tall and strong in the air, he works hard but has the tackling ability of a striker and tends to fall over too much. Fans are on his back

Giovanni Hatzori-32-playmaker:
hates to defend and can stop bothering if he is in a mood. However when he is in the mood and gets forward, he is wizard of all aspects of the ball. Due to his ego, he can lose the battle after taking to many people on/trying something too spectacular also pulling the team out of shape is a risk with him. Looks for flick on

Cuation’s joint top goalscorer at Bof

ST: Pual Keane-22

Pacy player like Rual Mendiz. Will be looking to get in behind defences and finish any chances he gets. Perhaps too similar but now he is too old for the next U21 Cup, his scoring run in the Dragon cup might gain him a start.

Oglethorpia
22-04-2006, 18:39
The Bureaucratic Tribune

Ostriches WC28 roster
The Oglethorpian Association of Football has released the squad's World Cup 28 roster -- the first such cup for the country in eight years, having missed World Cup 27 and been almost totally asleep for the one preceding that.

The Oglethorpian national football team again fields the "Ostriches" moniker, still languishing in mediocrity and unlikely to preform decently this World Cup.

That said, here is the roster in wonderfully formatted fashion;

Manager/Coach/Head Moral Supporter: Torrence Black (95)
Formation: 3-5-2

Goal:
Hip Replac (age 45, Avidia City F.C. [Krytenia])
Defense:
Jim Seasons (age 47, SpVgg Stuttergart)
Ed Head (age 43, Steerford United)
Les Potbell (age 51, Steerford United)
Half-field:
Cletus van Mistletoe (age 44, Polyesterhampton F.C)
Luud van Mistletoe (age 44, Sheffingham United)
Harry Falls (age 39, Sheffingham Rovers)
Billiam Christmas Jr. (age 46, SpVgg Stuttergart)
Offense:
Anton Kremlov (age 44, unsigned)
Mel Memorable (age 46, Polyesterhampton F.C.)
Coat MacHanger (age 55, Megalopolis City F.C.)

As for the substitutes, and additionally, Sam Vaughmoot, Frank Lee, Al Duck, Ivan Thompson and Bill Swaggins serve as quite-likely-never-to-be-used substitutes. Woe is them.

Oglethorpia's Ostriches have no hopes for this Cup, given their sporadic entries into them over the past few years -- further, with little experience in the youth players, the Oglethorpian Association of Football has opted to field the World Cup 25 team with no younger replacements, rationalizing the poor physical physiques of the players with their purported experience.

"They're used to losing," explained Joseph Staplin.
Raging Penguins
22-04-2006, 19:22
The Raging Penguins Football Team "The Team" Roster:

Strikers(3): ABSOLUT LUNATIC, Furious Porridge, The Penguin

Substitute: Lite Wayte
------------
Defenders(4): DMYS, Arnold Flitchy, Al Broller, Fnab-Fnab,

Substitute: Ron Absnyll
------------
Midfielders(3): Mrs. Tweezly, Mostly Mouths, Devious Penguin

Substitute: The Mime
------------
Keeper: Willie Dee and his Extremely Dangerous Hair,

Substitute: Neb Nockerr
------------

ABSOLUT LUNATIC - Escaped from the Raging Penguin Asylum for the Dangerously Disturbed, and the Asylum refused to let him back in, so he was naturally placed in the football team. He regularly drinks a mixture of vodka, crude oil, and tar. If deprived of this drink, he can get extremely agitated and has become violent in the past.

Furious Porridge - Probably the most mentally-stable, normal person on the team, Furious Porridge is an excellent Football player, and thus recieves the lowest paycheck.

The Penguin: Not a penguin at all, The Penguin is a mentally unstable, human ex-marine, who left the Rage-Peng Army Vet Center and joined the team. He stole the team mascot's costume, which he wears at all times. He even puts his jersey on over it. The captain of the team, The Penguin often orders bayonet charges, and as such, the entire team carries spears, rifles, or extendable poles on their persons during and in between matches.

Substitute: Lite Wayte - An Obese, greasy computer addict, Lite decided to join the Football Team. We actually got him to practice, after we stole his electrical appliances. He's quite good, when he's not eating old, cold pizza.

DMYS - Dubious Mobile Yellow Slime(DMYS for short) is an extremely mobile, somewhat intelligent slime mold, mutated by extremely common chemical spills, and uranium feul rods carelessly discarded in the nearest swamp. Stretched out, DMYS can form a two foot high wall from one side of the pitch to the other(the width, not the length of the pitch). Originally chosen as the Goalkeeper, DMYS has instead been moved to Defensive position due to its ability to make opponants trip, slip, and lose the ball(or their legs).

Arnold Flitchy - Arnold Flitchy is a long-standing member of the team. Having originally been the Mascot, his Costume was stolen by The Penguin, and Arnold was replaced as Mascot by seven real Raging Penguins. His contract to the team, however, was still in effect, and he was givin the choice of becoming a player or a ball, and has been playing ever since.

Al Broller - Al Broller used to be a construction worker, until he caused an accident which resulted in a twenty-story office building imploding. He still wears his hardhat, and carries a hammer on the pitch. He has never played football before, but that's never stopped our team from losing!

Fnab-Fnab - Fnab-Fnab was once the Iron-Fisted, Tyrannical Dictator of a small, smelly, and utterly foriegn country. After a week of vacation in Raging Penguins, he boarded a small private jet which was supposed to send him home. However, it was not his small, private jet, but was instead the Football team’s jet, and Fnab-Fnab has been with the team ever since.

Substutute: Ron Absnyll - Ron Absnyll was a Lawyer before he decided to become slightly less moraly sound and joined the Football team. He makes sure each goal is fiscally sound, and thus often fails to make any. However, he has many objections to losing, so we put him on defense.

Mrs. Tweezly - After living most of her adult life as a School teacher in a Middle School, Mrs. Tweezly retired - and joined the Football team. She is one of the more tempermental members of the team, and will go berserk at the thought of students chewing gum during a game. A formidable sight on the field, Mrs. Tweezly has a meter-stick in her right hand at all times, and is armed with an extremely severe Look, which can strike an organism down at twelve paces.

Mostly Mouths - Mostly Mouths, or MM, as he is known, is a product of the over-breeding of large-mouthed Troglodytes, a commercial race living in the mountains of Raging Penguins. Mostly Mouths is an inatriculate Mouth on short, stumpy legs. He has two eyes, although nobody knows where they are, no ears, no nose, no arms, no vital organs, and like most Troglodytes, no brain. He does have an enourmous mouth, however, and eats almost every football kicked towars him.

Devious Penguin: After Derick Snaddly's arrest due to his occupation as a Door-to-Door salesman, and his expulsion from the team(due to being a door-to-door salesman), he trained a group of penguins to be as evil, cunning and dangerous as he was. The result of his Master Plan was Devious Penguin, who is aptly named, and rather evil.

Substitute: The Mime - True to his name, The Mime is a mime, and the Department of National Health and Sanity couldn't be more thrilled to hear that he's joined the Football team. We've never seen him actually kick a single ball(although he seemed to attempt to), but that's ok, because we expect that he'll die, or just get lost somewhere, and never bother us again.

Willie Dee and his Extremely Dangerous Hair - Willie Dee was once a regular boy, playing football on weekends with his mates. Then, one fateful day, he applied a radioactive hair-gel to maintain his large afro, and overnight, it gained a violent and carnivorous mind of its own. Utterly immune to scissors, fire, or hats, his hair has stayed put, and has grown. Currently, his Hair is out of jail on bail, after being jailed-along with the innocent Willie Dee- on charges of Assault and Battery, resisting arrest, and devouring a policeman. The no verdict has been issued, as the bodies have not been recovered yet. His Extremely Dangerous Hair was hired to play as Goalie, due to its agility, and ability to deflect - or devour - incoming balls. Willie Dee just happened to come with the deal.

Substitute: Neb Nockerr - A newer additoin to the team, Neb was hired due to Willie Dee's high-arrest risk. He is an ex-hobo, who we found under a bridge. We feel that he will do fine as a goalie.

We only have one substitute per position because any more would cost too much, and the taxpayers wouldn't stand for it.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes
RP injuries to my players: Yes(especially if said injury is ridiculous and highly improbable, a freak pillow accident, for example)
Godmod injuries to my players: Yes please. We'd like to see them die occasionally too.

Hand out Red cards to my players: Yes

The Magnus Valerian Boyars

The national team, strong after a brief but somewhat successful run in the Cup of Harmony for WC27, and after experiencing World Cup 27, is now ready to roll in World Cup 28, after four years of waiting and practice in the football leagues of the empire. Ilya Pavlov, after seeing that his reformation of team tactics helped the Boyars pass the beginning rounds of the CoH, decided to keep the team in the same manner as it was back then.

The Valerian Boyars will utilize a 3-4-3 formation, and their playing style modifier for World Cup 28 would be at +2.

Sarzonia Stars

Coach: Dave Wilson (66). In his second tour of duty with the Sarzonian national team, Wilson is also pulling double duty as the chairman of the Incorporated Football Federation in an effort to rebuild the organisation after its tumultuous failings in World Cup XXVI. He has coached the team to the AOCAF championship and the Dragon Invitational in Andossa Se Mitrin Vega since his return.

Assistant Coach: Brett Hancock (42). A controversial choice when the obscure young coach was named to guide the second choice national team in AOCAF XI, he took the Stars to a surprising second place finish. He also made his mark on the AOCAF XII winning Stars team and guided the first choice side to a 2-0 record as the interim coach following the botched dismissal of Barry Owens.

Goalkeeping Coach: Horace Sandt (33). A strong candidate for the Hall of Fame, he replaced Troy Perkins as goalkeeper and exceeded his mentor. Now he’ll be charged with mentoring the next generation of goalkeepers.

ROSTER (starters in bold)

GOALKEEPERS

1 Roger Treadway (Rochester Raiders). A surprise starter who emerged when expected starter Harvey Cooley tore his ACL, Treadway made his mark in the NSFA Cup by helping lead the surprising Raiders into the fourth round. He’s still young (24), so he may have a long future ahead of him if he plays well.
28 Harvey Cooley (Woodstock Wild). He was expected to be anointed the starter for the national team until he tore his ACL. Now he's playing behind Treadway. He turned 28 years old at the beginning of training.

DEFENDERS
3 Ridley Scott (New Jerusalem Nobles). At 25 years old, Scott is part of a new wave of young players that Wilson hopes will combat the team’s propensity for aging quickly and leaving no room for depth players. His heady play in training led him to win the job as left back outright.
12 Kenny Houlder (Saugerties Snakes): Although Holder is just 23 years old, he has become a steady contributor to the Snakes because of his fanatical study of his opponents and his constant work with his coaches to improve his game.
16 Mike Cole (Bristol Braves): Cole is a rugby standout as well as a footballer, having led the Sarzonia Galaxians to a surprise berth in the knockout rounds of the Rugby World Cup their first time out. At 29 years old, he is regularly considered the smartest player on the team.
8 Jeff Comstock (Nicksia Knights): After the Knights' surprise run through the NSFA Cup, Comstock signed a free agent contract with them. He brings speed and grit to the team. At 28 years old, he is now one of Sarzonia's veterans.
19 Kurt Laughton (Bristol): At 27 years old, he graduated from Joe Gibbs University at 19 following intense home schooling.

MIDFIELDERS
4 Henrik Bastale (Turoki Isle - Vilita): Has starred for Turoki Isle since his transfer from the Portland Timbers, being named Foreign Player of the Year in the Vilitan league. He has a lot of pure speed and ball control, but needs to learn to pace himself for 90 minutes. Just turned 27.
14 Jenna Raven (Woodstock Justice, women’s team): Previously under the radar after the abolishment of the Under 21 national side, Raven was the first player contacted by Owens after he was named the team’s head coach. She's also a key player for the women's national team.
19 Jarret Sanderson (Woodstock Wild): Sanderson has come a long way from his days as the Junior Stars’ malcontent to become a star player for the Under 21 national side. Now 26 years old.
13 Calvin Olson (New Jerusalem): Olson is deadly accurate from up to 30 yards on free kicks with his right boot. For a skillful midfielder, he's surprisingly physical. This 32 year old has been suspended due to yellow card point accumulation three times last season[/i].
7 Nathan West (Dunkirk Devils): Just 20 years old, he was not expected to start for the Stars, but his uncanny ability to score on free kicks or headers off corners, plus his hard work and excellent study habits, essentially forced Wilson to insert him in the starting 11. As a result, the Stars will employ a 3-5-2 for the first time after years of playing a 4-4-2.
24 Landra Tennison (Woodstock Justice, women's team): She earned a spot in the starting 11 on the Stars for AOCAF VIII after an impressive tryout where she out-physicaled several men despite her 5 foot 6, 133 pound frame. At 32 years old, she’s become one of the old hands on a team that’s mostly become a youthful side.
6 Sterling Bridger (Richmond Rage): Taken on as Dave Wilson’s personal “pet project,” the 21 year old has wonderful potential but figuratively needs to grow up. Wilson intends to bring him along slowly, inserting him into matches only if necessary.
17 Ettore Salivani (New Jerusalem Nobles): This 33 year old spent some time as the captain of the AOCAF finalist Sarzonia side until his outburst against Starblaydia cost him the armband. He's being given a chance to prove himself as a team player by serving as a depth player at this level.

FORWARDS
19 Kenny Cooper (Tacoma Tigers): Now 29, he is the all-time leading goal scorer for the U21 national team. He's still trying to put it all together at the senior World Cup level and gets one last chance as the target forward.
20 Kevin Wilson (Joe Gibbs University) Team captain: The younger son of former Stars Coach Dave Wilson and the younger brother of former team captain Brian, Kevin shares his brother's instincts on the pitch and may be even more of a heartthrob than his older brother. At 28 years old, he now gets the chance to set his own mark.
15 Roy Spencer (Grappenhall United, Bettia): The 26 year old Spencer made an impression in the 10th AOCAF tournament, signing with Grappenhall United, He has earned a spot on the squad.
16 Brian Williams, 23 (Partisan Drizza, Hypocria): A star for the AOCAF XII winners and AOCAF XI runners up, the 6'3, 195 pounds Williams has earned a spot on the senior national team squad.

The mysterious and reclusive WC2 hosts from the Holy Empire are returning to the World Cup for only the second time since WC7 in recognition of the return of the World Cup to the Dreamed Realm for the first time since that second tournament.

However, HEFA (Holy Empire Football Association) remains reluctant to risk the lives of real Imperial citizens following the pre-WC 25 plague that wiped out all but one of the starters after a now-infamous pre-tournament friendly in Ariddia.

So the entire Imperial Team will be comprised of Dream Simulacra (tm) of World Cup Hall of Fame legend Juan Tzimisces.

Dream Simulacra are projections of dreams into ordinary reality. While not technically real, the simulated players replicate all of the actions of ordinary footballers on the field of play - though the fact that they appear to be slightly shadowy and insubstantial occasionally unnerves the opposition. Anyone colliding with a simulacra will soon learn, however, that they certainly _feel_ real.

A small group of Archregimancy oneirologist monks will dream the Holy Empire's squad into existence on match days

IMPORTANT
In order to further protect the Holy Empire from ordinary reality infections, plagues, and diseases, all of the team's home matches will be played in the Archregimancy.

The squad:

GK:
Tzimisces simulacrum 1 [simulacrum parameters adjusted for goalkeeping skills]
DEF:
Tzimisces simulacrum 2
Tzimisces simulacrum 3
Tzimisces simulacrum 4

FOR:

Tzimisces simulacrum 11

Formation:
The Imperials play an attacking 3-5-2 formation, which (theoretically) turns into a 3-3-4 formation when they have the ball [style modifier +2]

Assistant Coach - Serik Leshko (44). The ex-Psycho Head Coach of the disastrous World Cup 26 campaign returns, albeit in a less lofty role than he enjoyed in the past. The mysterious attack on previous Assistant Coach Christophe Berard - paralysed when he was hit by a car - remains sadly unsolved.

The Staff
KA. Khim Azanulbizarn (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Khim_Azanulbizarn), Manager, 58
58 Caps, 6 Goals (10 Caps, 4 Goals at Under-21 Level (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Starblaydia_Under-21s))
Probably the most-famous football-playing Dwarf in the world, Khim's long reign as Under-21 Manager put him in good stead after his upgrade to the senior side in the wake of Nikola Lazerevski's retirement after World Cup 25, finishing Third in World Cup 27. Players who have served him well in the Under-21s and the testing ground of the Draggonnii Inviyatii and Ylompics have formed this solid core of his team.

GE. Geraint Evans (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Geraint_Evans), Assistant-Manager, 58
46 Caps, 8 Goals (17 Caps, 4 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Named as the manager of the Starblaydi AOCAF team, Geraint makes a fine assistant to Azanulbizarn in the World Cup stage, tempering the Dwarf's more... 'outlandish' ideas into something akin to normal.

The Goalkeepers
1. David Bedford, GK, 30 - Vecchio Victors
13 Caps, 0 Goals (9 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)

12. Julio I Kyrile, GK, 35 - KaMaRi kali Xentira (Rejistania 1st Division)

19. Balin Grimzabar, GK, 25 - Karak Ungor Chiefs

The Defenders
2. Ricardo Almeida, RWB/RB, 28 - Kiiarana City (Vilitan Stellar)
16 Caps, 0 Goals (4 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Versatile in attack and defence, Ricardo was always passed over for 'Cisco 'The Terrible' Ibanez, but now with Ibanez at 32, Ricardo will prove just how good he is at right-back, or equally at-ease overlapping Paul Noble on the right wing.

3. Markko Rakkinen, LB, 27 - Tabeck FC
43 Caps, 2 Goals (8 Caps, 1 Goal at Under-21 Level)
The most solid left-back since, well, Khim Azanulbizarn himself, Markko's ability is second to none and is the perfect choice for the #3 shirt. Takes responsibility for the back-four on his own sometimes, if there's anyone you want as a last-man, it's him.

5. Juan Valdez, CB, 25 - Tabeck FC
22 Caps, 0 Goals (5 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)

6. Antonis Kouvas, CB, 30 - Kiiarana City (Vilitan Stellar)
48 Caps, 5 Goals (10 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
'The Bull' is back for another crack at the Cup and is sure to get on the scoresheet as he'll bundle the ball, himself and a few other players with him into the opposing net from a set-piece. Defending, however, he is a massive presence with the perfect 'none shall pass' attitude.

13. Adimurtiz Drazarim, R/LB, 24 - Karak Ungor Chiefs
15 Caps, 1 Goal (6 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)

14. Herge Costa, C/RB, 19 - Hallad Reavers
1 Cap, 0 Goals (3 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)

20. Jaime Oberlander, L/CB, 34 - Hallad Reavers - World Cup 25 Winner
63 Caps, 4 Goals (14 Caps, 1 Goal at Under-21 Level)
The only Starblaydi World Cup Winner selected for this team, Oberlander's presence will provide an inspiration to those youngsters around him, and he's still an excellent defender twelve years on past his greatest moment ever

The Midfielders
4. Georges Blanc, Captain, CM, 32 - Floral FC (Bedistan)
54 Caps, 6 Goals (12 Caps, 3 Goals at Under-21 Level)
A one-man wrecking ball in midfield, Blanc takes the captaincy he so deserves. Able to break up an opposition attack and turn it into a Starblaydi one with a single tackle, the team once again pivots around their captain in the heart of midfield

7. Paul Noble, R/CM, 27 - Vecchio Victors
50 Caps, 13 Goals (8 Caps, 3 Goals at Under-21 Level)
An excellent wide-midfielder, Paul is an integral part of the Starblaydi set-up thanks to his work-rate and pin-point crossing ability. No-one else could even be considered for the #7 shirt, something he's earned over the past eight years.

8. Durum Rage, AM, 25 - Karak Ungor Chiefs
20 Caps, 2 Goals (5 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
This young dwarf has to fill the shoes of Menecrates. Known for a rocket of a shot that has burst footballs and the backs of nets with equal ease, Rage is a tiger in midfield and is ever-ready to power forward with his blistering long-range shots

11. Javi Chavez, LM, 29 - Corinthian Spirits
40 Caps, 8 Goals (8 Caps, 1 Goal at Under-21 Level)

15. Pedro Rujano, C/DM, 23 - Na~ovi Nanti (Rejistania 1st Division)
22 Caps, 2 Goals (7 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
The natural successor to Blanc, Rujano's sheer class on the ball mark him out as one for the future. Able to defend and attack with consummate ease, Rujano is near-guaranteed the Number-Four shirt the next time a World Cup rolls around

16. Petyr Kaminsky, R/LM, 22 - Internashionale
10 Caps, 1 Goal (6 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)

21. Marissa Cortez, C/LM, 21 - Lightbringers
9 Caps, 2 Goals (3 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)

22. Fillipo Zinaldi, AM, 20 - Vecchio Victors
10 Caps, 4 Goals (3 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)

The Forwards
9. Johan Keifner, CF, 23 - Tabeck FC
15 Caps, 12 Goals (6 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Based on his AOCAF13 performance, Azanulbizarn could pick no other partner for Tolkacheva. Hugely tall and muscular with it, Keifner's sheer presence is often enough to put defenders off, never mind his abilities in the air or generally in front of goal.

10. Dasha Tolkacheva, SC, 28 - Iskara Daii
44 Caps, 32 Goals (9 Caps, 6 Goals at Under-21 Level)
The bad news for the opposition is that "Dash" is as fast and as deadly-accurate as ever. Superb speed and an eye for goal have taken her to third in the all-time list of Starblaydi scorers already and this time she's aiming to beat the 44 goal record of simeone Di Bradini and Zhorin Tumunzahar

17. Maivia Von Erich, SC, 25 - Widdrington Wolves
24 Caps, 10 Goals (1 Cap, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)

18. Janica Rocca, SC, 21 - Daii Raiders
Uncapped (3 Cap, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)

23. Ajaccio, SC, 27 - Corinthian Spirits
12 Caps, 2 Goals (3 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)

Schiavonia

SFF announce WC28 squad

The official Schiavone squad for World Cup 28 has been announced, with seven new faces compared with last time around. They'll still be playing +1, though. Here's who they are.

TEAM MANAGER

Rodney Lowe [Age 51]
Universally loved in Schiavonia. First he managed to take his new nation all the way to the World Cup Finals, where they beat the eventual runners up. Then, as if to prove it was no fluke, he went and qualified the team again in emphatic style. Will be hoping to continue this development with his new squad this time around.

GOALKEEPERS

1. Ben Kershaw (Atletico Unimo [32] Caps:54 Goals:1)
Kershaw has been Schiavonia's number one throughout their international history to date. A solid shot stopper, but prone to the odd mistake when kicking.

2. Ray Interrio (Heartellpool United [30] Caps:0)
The back-up keeper during the FIFA Cup of Nations has kept his place in the squad for his first World Cup campaign. Untested at this level.

3. Jack Holmes (Social Club de Sedgefield [21] Caps:0)
Regarded as the natural successor to Kershaw between the sticks, he has some way yet to go to rival the country's long time number one.

DEFENDERS

11. Oliver Park (Threlo Rovers [30] Caps:52 Goals:2)
Established central defender Park has been the rock upon which Schiavonia's defence is based. Rarely noticed, mainly because he just gets his head down and gets on with it.

12. Gareth Marsden (Social Club de Sedgefield [29 (c)] Caps:52 Goals:2)
Park's central defensive partner makes up in enthusiasm and athleticism what his partner gives in commitment and organisation. One without the other... well, it just wouldn't be right!

13. Marcus Pine (Kingsbury Monarchs [29] Caps:5)
A player who will only get a chance due to injury or a defensive formation, Pine is the best player in Schiavonia when it comes to defensive headers. Good when it's backs against the wall time.

14. Allesandro Portes (Atletico Unimo [25] Caps: 2)
Portes came in during the FIFA Cup of Nations, and so has not really been tested yet. Could make appearances if the legs are starting to go later in the campaign.

16. Arnold O'Kane (Kingsbury Monarchs [35] Caps:52 Goals:1)
O'Kane is part of Schiavonia's most famous back four, and is solid as a rock at right-back. However, age is starting to catch up with him ,and pacier wingers could trouble him this time around.

17. Fernando Smith (Atletico Unimo [33] Caps:52 Goals:3)
The final of the famous four, and another one who is getting on a bit. Might slow him down as an attacking force, but still has the single-mindedness to know that defending is what he's there for.

18. Connor O'Faherty (Threlo Rovers [23] Caps:2)
Young left back who will be looking for international experience, as he is lined up to replace Smith in the team next World Cup.

19. Enrique Williams (Social Club de Sedgefield [21] Caps: 2)
The same as O'Faherty, only swap left for right and Smith for O'Kane.

MIDFIELDERS

21. Kenny Sanderson (Kingsbury Monarchs [30] Caps:51 Goals:10)
The main creative force in Schiavonia's midfield, Sanderson is a free kick specialist and is also first choice when it comes to taking penalties. Interesting fact: Represented Schiavonia at Ylompic Equestrian after an administritive error. He came last.

22. Pedro Swollocks (Social Club de Sedgefield [23] Caps:3)
Some might say that he's only in the team so that they keep their international quota of stupidly named players, but he hasn't let the team down on any of his three appearances to date.

23. Eric Berry (Mirkwell [23] Caps:3 Goals:1)
Has a very good partnership in midfield at club level with Andy McGee, and will now be able to show it off at this level too, as he becomes first-choice midfield scrapper ahead of the ageing Weir.

24. Paul Weir (Threlo Rovers [35] Caps:49 Goals:3)
A player who has done Schiavonia proud, putting a fighting spirit into Schiavones where once one might not have been. One of the most influencial and popular players the country is ever likely to see.

25. Andy McGee (Mirkwell [24] Caps:11 Goals:1)
Played throughout the FIFA Cup of Nations and will now be looking to get a decent run in the team after only a few sporadic appearances in the last qualifying campaign.

26. Horatio Besenares (Atletico Unimo [27] Caps:12 Goals:1)
Skillful right winger though he may be, Besenares only doesn't play much because of the formation the Schiavone team usually plays. Is good enough to be back-up attacking central midfielder, too.

27. Calum Porse (Cartfield Athletic [28] Caps:10)
Another victim of Lowe's preferred 4-3-3 formation is left winger Porse. Not as skillful as Besenares, but still a worthy enough opponent and lightening quick with it.

FORWARDS

31. Jermaine Edwards (Kingsbury Monarchs [20] Caps:4 Goals:3)
Young, pacy striker who has been prolific to date. But then, you'd probably be a prolific striker against the likes of Fifian Spaam and Arctik.

32. Seamus Bradley (Threlo Rovers [19] Caps:0)
Another youngster that big things are expected from, as Lowe decides to go for the youthful enthusiasm over the experience of Gary Topp.

33. Paolo Di Mascherenasi (Atletico Unimo [28] Caps:30 Goals:16)
Tricky forward who can produce the most unexpected things, and a prolific scorer to boot. However, when we say unexpected, we do mean bad as well as good.

34. Craig McAndrew (Mirksdove Rifles [31] Caps:47 Goals:14)
The most unlucky man in Schiavone football, McAndrew knows where the goal is, but his games often end up being cut short due to some unfortunate minor injury he's picked up.

36. Tony Tarmey (Welkay Lakeside [29] Caps:52 Goals:35)
The most famous Schiavone player internationally for his goalscoring exploits, he's the guy every young Schiavone wants to be. Not particularly skillful, but knows how to kick a football past a goalkeeper into a goal. Which is a good thing to be able to do.

Retiring from the squad are...

GK. Colin Kearns (Threlo Rovers [39] Caps:3)
GK. Mark Percy (Kingsbury Monarchs [36] Caps:1)
CB. Andy Payne (Threlo Rovers [37] Caps:8)
LB. Colin Peterson (Kingsbury Monarchs [35] Caps:4)
RB. Fred Apple (Applethorst [34] Caps:4)
CM. CJ Moore (Social Club de Sedgefield [38] Caps:35 Goals:2)
CF. Filipo Schiavone (Social Club de Sedgefield [39] Caps:24 Goals:7)
CF. Gary Topp (Threlo Rovers [37] Caps:35 Goals:9)

Mainly a bunch of back up players. Of the other three, CJ Moore was better known as "the other guy in midfield", Filipo Schiavone was expected to be bigger than Tarmey when Schiavonia burst onto the scene, but never quite lived up to the billing. Only Gary Topp will be sorely missed, as the striker who holds the ball up and brings the other players into the game. Despite not being a prolific goalscorer, his presence could be missed in the squad.

Our first choice line-up is as follows...

1. Kershaw

16. O'Kane 11. Park 12. Marsden 17. Smith

21. Sanderson 25. McGee 23. Berry

33. Di Mascherenasi 36. Tarmey 34. McAndrew

However, there are two alternative formations that are sometimes used. One is the traditional 4-4-2...

1. Kershaw

16. O'Kane 11. Park 12. Marsden 17. Smith

26. Besenares 21. Sanderson 25. McGee 27. Porse

33. Di Mascherenasi 36. Tarmey

...the other, a less traditional variation on the same formation, a 2-4-2-2.

1. Kershaw

11. Park 12. Marsden

16. O'Kane 24. Weir 25. McGee 17. Smith

21. Sanderson 23. Berry

33. Di Mascherenasi 36. Tarmey

Those lovely people at Ediraf have supplied the SFF with some new kits for this World Cup. Expect them to be worn by the boys for the next two cups, and for everyone across the Forty-Six Islands to have one by the end of the week. Because chest bands are out, coloured sleeves are in!

Praying2God Warriors Roster

Head Coach: Paul Johnson

He is the only Head Coach the Warriors have had since returning to WC competition. This is now his 7th WC as Head Coach, and he has a career record of 40-37-24 (wins-losses-ties), including a 1-4-1 record in WC finals competition. Expectations are high for this WC after consecutive runs to the groups stage of the WC finals. Being one of the top-30 teams in the world means expectations are higher than ever, and disappointment could mean jeopardizing his job.

Assistant Coach: John Ball
Goalie Coach: Mark Williams
Trainer: Mary Ann Glover

All of the assistant trainers know their roles, and are outstanding in them. In particular, Goalie Coach Mark Williams is becoming renowned throughout the world as one of the best in the business at what he does. Trainer Mary Ann Glover always seems to have the Warriors peaking at just the right time physically.

G: Sarah (Walker) Larson (age 37)*

Sarah is one of the best goalies in the world. If the Warriors can get her a lead, the other team is in big trouble, as she finds a way to take her game up a notch when she's protecting a lead, especially in the late stages. She has also gone down in Warriors soccer lore for scoring the match-winning goal against Giant Zucchini in WC XXI.

G: Susan Walker (21)

Sarah’s younger sister is one of the most talented upcoming keepers in Praying2God. She probably won’t see much action, but she can do the job when called upon better than most. She will be able to learn a lot from her sister by being on the roster, and is expected to take her sister’s place in the starting line-up when she retires.

D: Christine Holly (37)*

Christine has become the heart and soul of the Warriors’ defense. Her offensive capabilities make her the most likely Warriors defender to score, especially since she takes most corner kicks. However, she's more known for her defensive abilities. Her younger sister, Kylie is also on the Warriors’ roster.

D: Haley Erickson (25)*

Young in comparison to most of the Warriors starters, Haley has worked hard with the since moving into the line-up leading up to WC XXVI. Haley is a defensive defender, so don’t expect to see much from her in the scoring department.

D: Stephanie Vickner (25)*

Stephanie is also a young starter for the Warriors, and appears to be part of the beginning of the gradual youth movement on the Warriors roster, as the Warriors starters that have pretty much remained constant since returning to WC action in WC XX are starting to reach the late stages of their careers. Stephanie is another defensive defender, so she won’t do much scoring.

D: Danielle Karlson (25)*

Danielle is a very solid defensive player, but is still a bit inexperienced. However, she does have three appearances off the bench, so she does have a little bit of experience to work with. She will add the occasional assist, but don’t go looking for her to score any goals, much like the defender she’s replacing, Claire Paulson.

D: Ryan Stone (23)
D: Linda Storm (21)
D: Tony Wall (16)

This group of reserve defenders is fairly young, but very talented. They would not be much of a drop off from the starters if pressed into action, though the lack of experience might eventually show itself. All of them mark their assignment very well, and are good passers.

M: Ashley Gore (36)*

The leader of the Warriors midfield, Ashley is the third leading scorer for the Warriors over her seven WCs, compiling 29 points, with 17 of them coming on assists. She also has the distinction of being the first Warrior other than Thomas Larson to score a match-winning goal, when she scored in the 89th minute against Turori to give the Warriors a 2-1 upset. She is a solid defensive player too. She very likely is in her last WC after a strong career for the Warriors.

M: Brittany Law (21)*

The first player that earned multiple appearances while on the Warriors bench, Brittany has not disappointed since moving into the Warriors line-up. There are some that are already suggesting that she may be the next Ashley Gore, and they appear to be right, as she scored three goals and added an assist in her first WC in the starting line-up. Brittany also scored a goal during the group stage of WC XXVI, so she’s proven herself against tough opposition. Look for her to provide a spark to the Warriors offense.

M: Kylie Holly (36)*

While more offensively minded than her sister, Christine, who leads the Warriors defense, Kylie is still a very good defensive player. She contributes a decent amount on the offensive end, collecting three goals and seven assists in her two WCs. She might also stick around longer than most players her age because she keeps herself in very good condition. She is an outstanding passer and has great ball control.

M: Sarah Toliver (21)*

Sarah is a good all-around player, much like her predecessor, Alissa Madison. Sarah has already proven to be productive on the offensive end of the field, scoring three points (one goal and two assists) in four appearances for the Warriors. She gives the Warriors another very capable offensive threat in the midfield, but her defense doesn’t give up anything as she can stay with just about anybody. She has great body control.

M: Nicole Small (22)
M: Alison Red (21)
M: Adam White (19)
M: Crystal Berry (15)

A very talented up-and-coming group of midfielders. This group has nice balance to it, and would be a group that compliments itself quite nicely if it would ever start together. All of them are quality players on both sides of the ball, with Nicole and Alison being the most defensive minded. Adam is an extremely smart player who should learn how to play well at this level very quickly.

F: Thomas Larson (37) Captain*

Arguably one of the greatest players in the game today, and by far the most well-known Warriors player. He has the ability to score anytime he touches the ball, no matter where he is on the field. This is his fifth WC as the official Warriors captain. Hands down, the Warriors’ leading scorer, having poured in 82 points (58 goals, 24 assists) in his seven WCs, in only 102 matches. Defenses try to focus on shutting him down, but with all the offensive talent between the forwards and midfielders, it is hard to double him at all times.

F: Kelly Carter (36)*

The second leading scorer for the Warriors, having scored 46 points (27 goals, 19 assists) in her seven WCs. She is a threat anytime she touches the ball. However, her accomplishments have been overshadowed by Thomas'. Her career may be nearing its conclusion, as she hasn’t been the scoring threat she used to be in the last couple of WCs, and Amy Elder appears to be ready to take her place in the line-up.

F: Amy Elder (25)
F: Jenna Polk (18)

A pair of very talented back-up forwards. Amy is young compared to the most of the other members of the team, but that may be a good thing, as she’ll be better suited to lead once the current starters are gone. Jenna has a lot of learning to do, but she has three very good players in front of her that will all probably be around for a couple more WCs (at least), so she’ll have plenty of time to learn.

Legalese

Legalese National Soccer Team
Featuring their most experienced squad ever!

Manager: Rocco Comienze
Head Coach: Pete Macoden

Keepers:
1 Ron Amarino - a mainstay with the Nats through the last two qualifying sessions, his leadership will be invaluable, though his body may be a bit more frail. expect to see some action from the reserves as well this time around.
99 Marcus Zambia - picked as the third keeper last time around, the younger Zambia looks to be groomed as a potential replacement for Amarino. He should get a few matches in during qualifying.

Defense:
2 Heath Caficaris - entering his third tour with the Nats, albiet from the bench. However, Caficaris may see more playing time this time around.
3 Clive Park - Fresh off a breakthrough season with Titan FC, Park was named to the national side. Most of his seasoning may come from training with the best, rather than playing against them, though some time off the bench is not out of the question.
4 Dave Samson - A veteran back with Bekknia United, Samson finally earned his way onto the national team. Playing time may be few and far between for him, however.
5 Lex Guam - Another original from the first side, Lex should continue to keep the right side secure.
6 Eddie Tate - Like Park, another youngster who earned his way on the team through league play. Unlike Park, Tate jumped to the top of the lineup, at central back, replacing...
15 Bruno Garbul - Garbul has lost a step, noticeably, but the crafty central back is still an asset to the program, and could still show it on the field, even in a reduced role.

Midfield:
15 Anton "Ace" Grimald - The nickname says it all. The "Ace" cleaned up at midfield for Oatka United, showing off as a world-class midfielder. Can he show it at the highest level?
16 "Shoeless" Mike Barr - Known for playing in training sessions without cleats, the midfielder from Worthington Valley tends to be at home with the ball in league play, and will get his chance at the world stage to try it out.
18 Jeremy Sonermartt - Still relatively new to the team, first coming on during the last qualifying campaign, Sonermartt has finally broken into the starting XI.
20 Sonny Achin - A holdover from the start, Achin's experience at the outside midfield should be useful in helping the Black and Red get to the promised land.
22 Nate Fillmore - Brought on the side as a reserve, Fillmore should be a relative non-factor this time around. His days will come in four years.
23 Pavel Bahrain - The most well-known name on the national team, Bahrain continues to lead the team on, wearing the armband for Legalese.

Forwards:
7 Garib Duff - Starting in his second-straight campaign for the Nats, we'll see if Duff has the stuff once again.
9 Marty St. John - A new face, and perhaps a new star? If he ever gets off the bench, we'll find out.
11 Landon Perez - Also a newcomer to the Nats. He'll see time, but not as much as the top two, surely.
12 Kip Saudarab - The old guy at the top, but now starting there. Kip must show that zip, if he's to stick around.

Algal States Epiphytes

Stadium:Algal States home games are played in the 60000 seat Epiphyte Dome. The Dome is a covered stadium that floats in the middle of harvester harbour in the capital city of Letete. Coaching Staff

Mariano Rodriquez 56 years old - After coaching the Vanguard Eagles for a few season, Rodriquez returns to the Vikings as assisstant to his former coach. With his seemingly abundant amount of energy, he will help keep the atmopshere in the Vikings locker room plesant.

Gary Accrew 71 years old - Fitniss coach of the Vikings since coming from Liverpool England in the Vikings inagural cup. With his healthey routine, he keeps the Vikings in top notch shape and has them ready for anything. Helps break young players of bad habits before they even start.

Starting Eleven
3-4-3 ninjitsu

---Goalkeeper---

#4 Justin Keys 25 years old (Ariot Lupes) - Played under the radar for many years until his breakout season were he lead the FDL in saves, clean sheets, and had the lowest number of goals scored against.

---Defenders---

#14 Brian Bash 25 years old (Takil Lines) - Son of Vikings defender Bobby Bash. Has the same inherent slide abilities as his father. Youngest player to become a starter for the Vikings. Helps form a solid young defense for an offenseive team.

#8 Kayla Mik’ala 31 years old (Anadyr, Hockey Canada) - Top defender in Fmjphoenix. She sticks to her mark like flys stick to shit. When the ball is moving, you can always find her right there.

#12 Kerien Haylcon 29 years old (RFC Vrelt) - All around solid player. He doesn't excel in any one aspect, but seems to perform best when stopping opponents from going forward.

---Midfielders---

#6 Laura Boyd 30 years old (Iskara Daii, Starblaydia) - Lead the Junior Vikings to U21WC19 championship with her solid play. Lots of speed gets her all over the field. Wherever the ball is, she is.

#5 Desmond Howard 26 years old (Vanguard Eagles) Despite his young age, he is known for his clutch play. Last season he scored the winning goal in time stoppage 5 times, a league record.

#13 Brady Wayne 32 years old (Sunnyslope FC) - After barely missing out on the national team last run, Wayne finds himself in the starting eleven. His ability is beginning to show more and more and will help create lots of opportunities for the Vikings.

#14 Andrew Jenkins 26 years old (Ariot Lupes) - First teen to make the team, let alone break the starting eleven. Has tremendous talant and the FAF thinks that expierence will be the best for him.

---Forwards---

#3 Mike Nolan (C) 40 years old (Irkutsk, Hockey Canada) - Nolan is still the heart and soul of the Vikings. The leading scorer in Fmjphoenix history hopes to add more goals to his resume, along with a championship cup, as that is all that is missing.

#7 Brian Dougood 31 years old (Lopinka, Vilita) - Another great young scorer who helped lead the Junior Vikings to one of their three U21 championships. Hopes to help lead the Vikings to a WC championship

# 11 Siieranu Ijanaeil 33 years old (RFC Vrelt) - Born in Rejistania, but imigrated to Fmjphoenix and has gained citizenship. After helping lead the Junior Vikings to a championship, he has stepped up into a go to guy on this football team. Excellent scorer.

Vuam and Isma
29-04-2006, 13:50
Raum 1 Sports at Eight.

Vuam and Isma play a 4-5-1 (http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/6582/4517un.jpg) with -1 for style modifier.

Starting 11 are Italicised.

Goalkeepers :
* Colm O'Connor : This young goalkeeper, only 22 is considered to be the backbone of Lesk FC's successful season. His presence in goal at barely 22 has lead him to be tagged as one of Vuam and Isma's future greats. During the CoH was extremely impressive, conceding only one goal. Colm's future at Lesk is however questioned, with Lesk allowing him to talk to the Nicksia Knights (Sarzonia). Last Season's Statistics (LSS) : 41 Games played, 36 Goals conceded, 5 Clean sheets, 0 Assists, and 9 Man of the Match awards. Current Team : Lesk. Date Of Birth (DOB) : 13/07
* Wayne Ivers : 28, and still solid, he'll probably not play much, as he's not quite as good as Colm. However, Wayne has pushed his way through the ranks of the V&I national side, and has been rewarded with the regular spot on the bench. LSS : 39 Games played, 48 Goals conceded, 7 Clean sheets, and 3 Man of the Match awards. Current Team : Jelluit Foutor. DOB : 22/03
* Palev Kerisnek : This goalie has been recieving appraisal for the last few seasons in the Toppleague thanks to his consistancy. However, he's part of a very defensive side, and hasn't ever been under pressure. Let's hope that he can continue on his good first few matches and really help us forget Strommstottir's retirement. LSS : 35 Games played, 37 Goals conceded, 8 Clean sheets, 1 Assist, 3 Man of the Match awards. Current Team : Dubrovnick CFC. DOB : 03/06

Defenders :
* Mounir Reguagui : Mounir is considered to be the backbone of Vuam and Isma's defence, with great command and excellent tactical vision. After a recent transfer between the Costa Dà Ackès' enemy brothers, Dingam-Gué and Dingam-Roh, Reguagui's gung-ho playing style saw him rewarded with a domestic cup, as Dingam-Roh beat Kediri in the Vuam and Isma cup final. LSS : 33 Games played, 2 Goal, 4 Assists, 5 Yellow cards, 0 Red card, 4 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Dingam-Roh. DOB : 24/11
* Icham S'baa : 32 this year, but still as fleet of foot as when he was 21, Icham's part in Vuam and Isma's cup run promises to be very important. Capped 49 times so far for Vuam and Isma, he's still looking for his first goal, but his mazy running down the wing will torment more than one winger, that's for sure. LSS : 30 Games played, 2 Goal, 11 Assists, 2 Yellow cards, 1 Red card, 3 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Jelluit Foutor. DOB : 21/08
* Roman Brasiviev : Roman has turned into one of the finest defendres of Vuam and Isma, and this 28 year-old has been such an impact over the last seasons for Agaña that the Nicksia Knights (Sarzonia) have bidded for him. If you want our opinion, he'll be gone before the end of the tournament! LSS : 31 Games played, 6 Goals, 2 Assists, 3 Yellow cards, 0 Red card, 7 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Agaña. DOB : 14/12
* Sett Marc : Dubbed 'The Chao Lee Prodigy', Sett's composure is astonishing for a 23 year-old. One of the most technical defenders that play in the Topplig, he'll be wanting to make his 'Marc' on this tournament. Marc's contract is coming to it's term soon, and there's a big chance that he'll leave Vientiane to seek glory. LSS : 32 Games played, 4 Goals, 2 Assists, 7 Yellow cards, 0 Red card, 4 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Vientiane FC. DOB : 02/08
* Victor Niederberger : A regular for Hiron, Victor has matured into a great all-round defender. After a good season with Alfared, he has now got to show that he's really world class. LSS : 28 Games played, 0 Goal, 3 Assists, 4 Yellow cards, 0 Red card, 2 Man of the Match award. Current team : Alfared. DOB : 18/01
* Dermov Ichtaa : An untested player on the international scene, he was chosen ahead of some more experienced players with the hope that this 19 year-old will mature quickly through top-level matches, and improve into a very good player. Ichtaa will be hard-working as always, but has admitted that to be leaving alongside players such as Brasiviev and Regragui "scares" him. LSS : 29 Games played, 1 Goal, 2 Assists, 6 Yellow cards, 0 Red cards, 1 Man of the Match award. Current team : St Blasien. DOB : 02/01
* Ismaël Rodriguez : Ismaël was only part of the squad because of the injury to Chdone, and has recognised that his part in Vuam and Isma's run will probably be very small. However, his excellent tactical and strategical capacities bill him as a player who could turn a match around should he get onto the pitch. LSS : 24 Games played, 0 Goal, 0 Assists, 1 Yellow cards, 0 Red cards, 0 Man of the Match award. Current team : Patan RS. DOB : 06/10

Midfielders :
* Yakit 'Yak' Yakkad : Gudjon know that Yak will perform, season in like season out. He's been at Gudjon all of 9 years since he turned pro at 17, and his performances just never let him down. Amongst other nicknames, he's called 'The conductor' and 'Destribuetor' for his cool passing play that brings the Madjedskay Park faithful to their feet. Before leaving for the World Cup, he insisted that Vuam and Isma only have one objective : Qualification, no matter what the cost. LSS : 30 Games played, 6 Goal, 11 Assists, 0 Yellow card, 0 Red card, 5 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Gudjon. DOB : 30/04
* Harrp Dinamyque : Harrp is one of the few players to have not played for one or two outfits in the Topplig, but 5. When he started out, playing for Dingam-Roh, he was thought to never be able to break into the starting eleven, and was sold to sworn rivals Dingam-Gué for a measly 50,000 Ghis. However, he revealed himself to be an illuminating midfielder in the Black and Yellow hoops, and has since played for Lesk, Alfared and Hiron before coming back to Dingam-Gué, where he's considered to be the midfeld dynamo that creates single-handedly all of Dingam-Gué's offensive play. In the run-up to this world cup, he's been one of the most wanted players on the transfer market, with the Pylos Reavers (Hypocria), and the Portland Timbers (Sazrzonia) hot in the bidding. LSS : 23 Games played, 6 Goal, 12 Assists, 3 Yellow cards, 0 Red card, 4 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Dingam-Gué. DOB : 12/10
* Stefan Grak : Only 24, and already part of Lesk's unstoppable attack force, this dazzling winger will surely be one of Scarab's keys to unlock opposing defences. Grak has become a far more reliable player as the years have gone by, and will hope to unleash more power than previously this time round for Vuam and Isma. LSS : 35 Games played, 8 Goal, 4 Assists, 3 Yellow cards, 0 Red card, 3 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Lesk. DOB : 09/08
* Exclamatio Lidon : Few can argue that seeing Lidon's dummies has been the best part of the season for Manang Marsiandi fans. A rather dissapointing mid-table finish for 'Il Plasicaos' will leave them bemoaning their lack of firepower up front, and the 28 year-old's relative lack of offensive support. Lidon has been unsettled by media comments that say he could be left on the bench should he not be at his best, and is determined to prove that his place in the starting eleven is unquestionable. LSS : 27 Games played, 4 Goal, 8 Assists, 2 Yellow cards, 0 Red card, 5 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Manang Marsiandi. DOB : 21/10
* Stuart O'Driscoll : After a short abroad stint, Stuart O'Driscoll has returned to Alfared. Returning halfway through the season made his place in the side hard to find, but he pulled some great matches out of his boots, and proved he was not going to be a miss for Alfared. LSS : 29 Games played, 9 Goals, 3 Assists, 4 Yellow cards, 0 Red cards, 6 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Alfared. DOB : 01/05
* Peter Searle : Who could think that this man played in the Eredivie? Not us. Great tactical vision, and a pinpoint-pass ability make him one of the hearbeats of the Topplig, as he drums Mikkeli Station's hearbeat. LSS : 24 Games played, 4 Goals, 7 Assists, 0 Yellow cards, 0 Red cards, 2 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Mikkeli Station. DOB : 21/12
* Jorgé Clay : Quickly turning into more than just a good young player, Clay has shown his talent to the Topplig, keeping Chuna up two seasons running, dispite every pundit saying they didn't have a chance. LSS : 37 Games played, 8 Goals, 11 Assists, 2 Yellow cards, 0 Red cards, 6 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Chuna. DOB : 23/06
* Emmanuel DiBrandi : Although he is 32, this is the first time he'll be in a world cup squad. This season, he made impressive matches for Lo Pan, raising the usual relegation battlers to the forefront of the Topplig. He said that it was all down to one thing : no injuries. All through his career, DiBrandi has spent more time on the stretcher than on the field, and it looks like he's finally unleasing the talent that's hidden in him. LSS : 28 Games played, 6 Goals, 13 Assists, 1 Yellow cards, 0 Red cards, 9 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Lo Pan. DOB : 23/06

Attackers :
* Stephen Fitzsimons : Only a few years ago, this kid was an incredible find. Two goals on his debut, and an impressive total of 24 goals in the league for his first season put him down as one to watch. Since then, he's only been getting better. 29 the second season, 32 the third, and last season, a record-breaking 34 goals. What a pity to have to see him leave for Sarzonia, to play with the Woodstock Wild... LSS : 37 Games played, 34 Goals, 4 Assists, 2 Yellow cards, 0 Red cards, 15 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Lesk (Transfer agreed with Woodstock Wild). DOB : 07/10
* Robert O'Beirne : Dingam-Roh's main man, Robert O'Beirne knows that at 31 he's one of the 'ancients' in the squad, and we're sure that he'll do all he can to show us that he'll not be pushed aside by the next generation without a fight. An impressive playmaker who's not scared to come deep to fetch the ball, he knows that his main power is his head, as he shows season after season that he can make good use of his 194 cm. After a difficult season following a hamstring injury that kept him out for 7 matches, O'Beirne was one of the few to travel to Nova Virginia for the Ukron Commonwealth-Dominion Cup. And he made sure his name was on the list, netting 3 and creating 2 goals in 5 matches. LSS : 24 Games played, 15 Goals, 2 Assists, 4 Yellow cards, 0 Red cards, 2 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Dingam-Roh. DOB : 23/01
* Sifiso Masilela : He claims he's the fastest player to ever wear the White and Azure, and who could blame him! Even though he's often criticised for his lack of constancy, if Sifiso can pull of a series of good matches, then most opposing defenders won't see more of him than a mere blur, followed by the ball in the back of their net. He's been more reliable this season, and has been helped by the players who have joined his club, such as O'Driscoll. However, he still just misses too many shots, and was relegated to the bench for a while after an abysmall match against then leaders Dingam-Roh, where he missed 17 shots. LSS : 26 Games played, 11 Goals, 3 Assists, 2 Yellow cards, 0 Red cards, 1 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Alfared. DOB : 23/01
* Fahd Ghauri : A constant striker, Ghauri was forced to battle hard for a regular first-team place in the Lesk satring line-up. However, being able to play any position in midfield and attack, he became the Lesk 'Super Sub', netting 8 goals in the last 5 minutes of play. Already billed as Vuam and Isma's secret weapon due to the goals he scores under the greatest pressure, he will be hoping to use this WC to prevent Lesk from replacing Fitzsimmons by another super-sriker, and give him the chance he's been waiting for. LSS : 24 Games played, 13 Goals, 6 Assists, 2 Yellow cards, 0 Red cards, 3 Man of the Match awards. Current team : Lesk. DOB : 31/03

Vuam and Isma are also happy to present their new kit, graciously made by JMC, "the Kryterian Club that makes the best sporting equipment in the world".

The Kingdom of Elrich

Chaos

Possibly the only way to describe Elrich's World Cup 27 Campaign. A good start, a dismal finish and another failure to qualify.

International outrage over the selection of the werewolfian "Wolfman" sparked fierce tension in Elrich's Group games. In the match with NS Bazalonia, the visiting side made extra efforts to avoid a biting. Unfortunately they were unsuccessful, and Bazalonian Captain Hobble turned up at the next Elrich game with minutes remaining, burst onto the pitch and scored the winning goal. The FA weren't too pleased, neither were Bazalonia, and the debate over Hobble's nationality (and Werewolfianess) culminated in Mike Bassett leaving to tell Hobble the news he could never play for Elrich again... He never returned.

Assistant Dave Dodds took the helm whilst the search for Mr Moustache begun, but disasterously. After a string of awful results, international legend Ahmad Elrich was appointed player-manager. What will happen if Bassett is ever found is anyones guess.

MISSING MANAGER - MIKE BASSETT
Previous Managerial Posts - Peterborough, Norwich, England, Wirral County
Bio - After famously guiding England to the semi final of the Brazilian World Cup, Bassett was greeted back home in his native country as a hero, and he famously announced he would continue the role as manager for "4 more years". Sadly, this never materialised as the FA announced that they would not be offering Bassett a new contract. The Government of Elrich saw their opportunity and beat off fierce competition to sign Bassett as National Manager in June 2005. A Baptism of Fire and a World Cup qualifying campaign later the jury was still out on Bassett. He's like marmite, you love him or you hate him - his team are inconsistant to say the least. A poor start to World Cup 25 Qualifying campaign led to a press campaign calling for his head. Bassett reacted in style, impressive qualifying form, including historic victories over the mighty Trurori and old friends Hurfordia, led the Badgers to the brink of qualification. It wasn't to be, and Bassett's men missed out by a mere 2 points. A dissapointing Cup of Harmony campaign followed, with the side failing to progress from the group stages. With the nation's hopes high, and potential successor the basketball coach Jonathan Cecil-Shoe gaining media support, qualification was the only thing which would definitely keep Bassett in his position, unfortunately it didn't materialise. In fact, the qualification campaign was a nightmare. The controversy surrounding the inclusion of the Wolfman in that World Cup 26 squad almost cost Bassett his job, but after that issue finally subsided Danny Adams and Frank N'Stein were involved in a disgraceful on-pitch brawl. Despite all the problems, it looked at one point like Elrich had a chance to qualify but defeats against the likes of lowly D2R, Nezza and Amorah meant a second-bottom placed finish. Bassett failed to relieve some pressure through a Cup of Harmony campaign, yet has he gained a star player?

Preferred Formation - Four, Four, F****** Two

CARETAKER MANAGER Ahmad Elrich - See below. The Elrichian hero takes over in a low point in Elrich's history.

ASSISTANT - Dave Dodds
COACHES - Zoltan Pepper, Pete Zaria and ex-player Vinnie Jones
PHYSIO - Wilma Leggrowback

THE SQUAD

1 GORDON BURNS
This famous news presenter and ex-presenter of the Krypton Factor has his own cult following back home in his native Elrich known as Team GB. Gordon is a favourite with the Elrich crowd and expecially the song-writers. Burns is calm and collected with safe hands and incredible shot stopping ability. Has impressed in his international exploits so far

2 BARRY SCOTT
Fresh from his advertising exploits with Cillit Bang, the Badger's fullback is famous for his stout, resolute defending and attacking flair. Despite a knee injury which has kept him plagued Scott in the past, Barry reassures the press that he is GOOD AS NEW!!!

4 METHUSELAH
The clever centre-half is greatly respected in Elrichian Football. Although previously thought to lack the physical attributes to make it at an International level, there is no doubting the man's commitment, temperament and knowledge. Bassett will be hoping he is the perfect calming influence on his centre-half counterpart Wolfman.

666 THE WOLFMAN
Is the Wolfman the first of his species to take part in a World Cup? Replacing the retiring Vinnie Jones with an even more intimidating defender would at first glance seem impossible, but Bassett created an international debate when he included him in his World Cup 26 squad. The ferocious defender becames the latest in the line of Elrichian sportsmen/species to emerge from the nations large circus community. Without doubt he has the ability to "make his mark" not only on football, but on the players he comes up against (and plays with) as well. Although his strength, power and energy is unquestionable he remains a huge gamble. Discipline is a huge problem and the Circus Bohemians' man is also prone to "howlers" of mistakes. Did he bite Peter Hobble? With Bazalonia pressing charges, the Wolfman could find himself out of the squad and behind bars.

3 Ringo Bingo
The young Hullabaloo left-back has really impressed this season and is rewarded with a starting berth in Mike Bassett's side. His pace, flair, strength and catchy name brought him to the attention of the Badger's Manager and Bingo will be hoping to convert his domestic form into international performances.

6 ROBIN BANKS
Surprise inclusion, but only due to the fact he has been allowed to leave his sentence at the National State prison for the fourth time in successive tournaments to join up with the squad. There is no doubting Banks' on-field fiery ability, but it is off the field where his record is less impressive. Banks was, until his call-up, serving another two-year sentence due to his part in an attempted Bank Robbery. On the pitch the central midfielder is a great ballwinner, strong in the tackle and uses his physical ability to the edge of the laws, and sometimes beyond them.

7 MATTHEW "DIDDY" ALLEN
The 4 foot wonderkid is only 16 years of age but has burst onto the international scene with a bang. His useful knack of being able to run through defenders legs can only be to his advantage, but he is not exactly an aerial threat. The right winger is renowned for his dribbling and crossing.

8 JOHN SPINKS
The fiery red-head midfielder in his earlier days was thought to be named SKNIPS due to a printing error on his shirt, where his name was spelt backwards. The elder of the Spinks brothers contributes goals and assists from midfield and forms a useful partnership with the more defensive Robin Banks.

99 ZEBEDEE
The dazzling, skilful and tricky winger is from Jamaican descent and his dazzling skills quite literally dazzle everyone. Despite often being laughed at by opposition fans for his thin "chickenish" legs, he is a real Bobby Dazzler (except he's not called Bobby). His golden boots do half the dazzling for him. Often decides to dazzle an extra 5 players for the fun of it rather than having a shot.

81 ELRICH (C)
Legend. The King and leader of the country will carry the nations hopes on his shoulders. Although not physically built for such a sport, it is his intelligence which makes him special, he sees things others cannot, and his finishing is unchallenged. His incredible footballing exploits abroad with Busan Icons earned him such Heroic status that not a street, but the Nation itself was named after him, and he was announced leader of his Kingdom. All time leading goalscorer, but increasing in age and status as leading striker with the emergence of Jamie Mudge. Will always be a legend. Now has his chance as Manager.

11 JAMIE MUDGE
From non-league obscurity to the national side in the matter of minutes, the Tiverton Town striker was a surprise addition to the World Cup 24 squad. Despite from being far from a house-hold name in Elrich, the young striker scored an immense 59 goals in his clubs promotion through the non-league ranks. His loyalty to his hometown club has been incredible, bordering on insane. He has turned down offers to join Premier League sides the Real Deal and Scumchester United and manager Mike Bassett insisted that Mudge had the talent to perform on the big stage. Bassett was proved right, a sensation at the World Cup 24 qualifiers Mudgie followed this up with a bucketful of goals in World Cup 25 qualification, including a memorable hat-trick against Hurfordia and the winner away at Trurori. An injury pagued campaign last time round saw Dan Singh-Queen more involved, but Mudge remains the first-choice.

SUBS

20 NORBERT SCARMANGA
Offering attacking threat from left full-back is something the international side has lacked in recent years, but unfortunately the introduction of the crossing-genious didn't prove the key to World Cup Qualification and the Norbert is out of the starting 11.

5 PETER SPINKS
The younger of the Spinks brothers, the stocky centre-half is respected for organising the Badger's backline, as well as his own tackling and heading attributes. The no-nonsense defender's motto is "If in doubt, hoof it out". However he is renowned for the odd flash of brilliance.

10 JIMMY GRIMBLE
He no longer needs his magic boots and the Manchester City youngster despite not breaking into his club team, has already established himself as supporting striker for his national side. His skills and pace are legendary. Last years fallout with a set of Elrichian fans after continually being shouted at to "Pass it to bloody Elrich" appear to have now ended. Despite a reasonable international record, the emergence of Jamie Mudge has pushed Grimble back onto the bench.

12 GEZ MURPHY
Talented both footed winger, who can play on the left or right. His flair and set-pieces often make him a useful option to turn a game around from the bench. Has he many more chances to impress though?

13 HUBERT BUSBY JNR
This 1 eyed, 1 legged, 1 armed goalkeeper was always the last to be picked at school. The people of Elrich pray he will not be called into action. Elrich insists that Busby's 5,000,000 donation to the National FA was nothing to do with his inclusion in the squad.

14 RICHARD HODGINS
SUBMARINE, SUBMARINE, He's the famous Richard Hodgins and he lives in a Submarine, SUBMARINE, SUBMARINE, he's the famous Richard Hodgins and he lives in a Submarine. What the Navy FC midfielder lacks in footballing ability, he more than makes up for with his legendary song. A National Hero.

15 DAN SINGH-QUEEN
Although his celebrations make Michael Jackson look like Scooby Doo, the agile striker has yet to really get going with the national side. He finally opened his account for the Badgers in World Cup 24 - albeit after having made a complete fool of himself impressively celebrating 3 disallowed goals earlier in the tournament. World Cup 26 and the following Cup of Harmony were breakthrough campaigns for Singh-Queen, and there are many calling for him to be a regular starter.

16 JEREMIAH After banging on the international door for a number of years, the cousin of Zebedee is now established in Mike Bassett's squad. A similar player in style to his cousin Zebedee, the pacey trickey winger is able to play on either side and will hope to play a part.

17 CORNELIUS CUCUMBER
Cucumber has impressed for the Elrichian side Sweet as a Moose FC this season and the versatile player, is at home at full-back or in midfield. Hailing from an extremely upper-class background, Cornelius upset his parents when he rejected his father's sport of "Polo" to persue a career in the "common" game of football. Technically very tidy.

18 SCATMAN JOHN
The Team Snavsninkstencottiddy defender is included as direct competition to the aging Barry Scott at right-back. Critics would like to see the man named after a dodgy nineties pop-star established in the first-team, and Scatman John will hope to make that right-back slot his own by the end of the competition.

19 NIGEL WIGGLE
Wiggle wriggles his way into the squad after impressive scoring performances for Hullabaloo AFC in the NSFA Cup. At home in midfield or attack the young natural finisher is expected to be in the starting 11 before too long.

21 PINGUE PONGUE
The Sweet as a Moose goalkeeper comes into the squad as better cover for Gordon Burns than billionaire Hubert Busby Junior. If anything were to happen to Burns, Bassett now has adequate cover in the agile stopper.

and finally......

99 PETER HOBBLE
Disappeared a long time ago. Possible murderer of Mike Bassett? Will he ever be found, will he ever play for Elrich? Is he Elrichian? Is he a Werewolf? Is he registered to play?

In an odd change count this toward Collonie please:

King John Fishhook has increased his insanity and will not let the the players be published in any way in an international publication except for Clyde Misterson who should be scoring most if not all of the goals.

The rest of the players names can be made up or you can look at past World Cups to see Collonie's rosters from back then. Your choice not ours.

Also we allow anything except for injuries or killing.

BRANSTONE ANNOUNCES LINEUP FOR WORLD CUP 28

These guys gonna rock the Dome to the ground

THE ARCHREGIMANCY - William Branstone, pulling a fast one on the even-vigilant Presse-Journal Devoir, has managed to move his entire team into a five-star hotel set up under the Paladin Dome for this express purpose, where they are getting ready to lay down the law in Group 1 and, hopefully, beyond.

A lineup was handed to a senior prelate from the Archregimancy who had taken a vow of silence, and this was all the press got:

Coach: William Branstone - Audioslavian exile hounded out of a job after attempting to take over the Bulls side during WC24 fell into a vacancy in NMS and has grown along with the program. Not much for patience.

GK 11 Paul Chasson, age 24 - Chasson is much, much better than his record would suggest, and would regularly turn in clean sheets if he played behind defensive backs worthy of the name. If he can keep opponents at 2 goals or fewer the Paladins should be able to hang in there and pick up some points.

GK 44 Tomas Beaujeu, age 20 - Keeping for the Pages on their surprise run to a fourth-place spot in the U21s has earned his the right to keep a spot warm on the bench for the big boys.

---------------------------------------------------

D 2 Yannic Laurier, age 22 - Not like the NMS puts any importance on defense, so he gets to keep his spot from last tourney in the hope that four years of life have seasoned him up.

D 10 Jean-Marie Laporte, age 18 - Another callup from the U21s should provide an improvement over the ineffectual-even-by-NMS-back-standards Pierre St-Simard.

D 15 Pierre St-Simard, age 20 - But he's not that ineffectual.

D 00 Olivier Gaston - Still honked at Laporte for taking his jersey number, but it's not like Gaston earned it.

---------------------------------------------------

MF 6 Charles Pilon, age 23 - Failure to contain Menecrates doesn't make him any less of a genius quarterback of the midfield.

MF 8 Petr Hunyadi, age 17 - Another U21, earning his place with a combination of 4 goals, 5 assists and a defensive job that would be a credit to a brick wall.

MF 39 Marc Tessier, age 19 - Listens to Audioslavian hard rock and has let it sink to the depths of his very angry being. Also can play brilliantly when he's calm enough. Branstone will keep him on a very short leash, as his tendancy towards pugilism has gotten the side in trouble before.

MF 40 Jacques Toussaint, age 24 - Along with Pilon, anchors what has become one of the finest midfields in the world. Only discernable weakness is an inability to be at all parts of the field at once (and that's not for lack of effort, either.)

MF 49 Hugh Faulkner, age 22 - Converted from forward to midfield for the Inviyattii as Branstone wanted to put his offensive talents to some use other than keeping a spot warm on the bench. Shaky defense, but decent speed and killer instincts in the opponent's third.

MF 55 Paul Chan, age 20 - undersized speedster returns from solid WC27 performance. Quick to adapt to opponent's changes in tactics. Odd tendency to appear from nowhere to knock a ball out from under the defense's knees.

Midfield Reserves - No bios, except that everyone has time in the Inviyattii or U21s (except Gordon) under their belt, and Gordon, Miller and Yates all saw significant playing time in WC27 (all have at least 19 caps.) Fabrice is the younger brother of Hubert Labranche.

MF 7 Fabrice Labranche, age 17
MF 9 Andy Gordon, age 24
MF 15 Jesse Miller, age 21
MF 41 Phillip Yates, age 23
MF 56 Joey Jasper, age 18
MF 87 Albany Plattsburgh, age 19

---------------------------------------------------

F 1 Gilles Villeneuve, age 21 - team captain and point man for the offense. Rapidly becoming one of the finest forwards in the world. Imaginative and aggressive play around the net combined with superb athleticism make him a force to be reckoned with.

F 99 Hubert Labranche, age 22 - plays well with Villeneuve, each can create opportunities for the other as well as for themselves. More disciplined approach to scoring than Villeneuve, and somewhat better on defense as well.

Forward Reserves - please note that Hugh Faulkner is actually the third forward (he'd move up in the 2-6-2 and a sub would be sent in the midfield) if anything should happen to Villeneuve or Labranche.

F 22 Andre Darcy - great talent, but like Hugh Faulkner before him gets stuck in the shadow of Villneneuve and Labranche.

F 70 Jack Basset - see above.

Formation is a +1.

THE ARCHREGIMANCY BRINGS YOU

THE ARCHREGIMANCY WC 26 SQUAD

Time passes differently in the Dreamed Realm, so the Archregimancy has the luxury of entering an unchanged side from the last World Cup if it so chooses, but there have been a couple of retirements as two players wish to spend more time devoting their time to prayer than to football.

For those not in the know, the Archregimancy is a nation of Orthodox (Eastern Orthodox Christian - Russian, Greek, Serb, etc) monks and celibate priests.

COACH:
Metropolitan Kyrill of Solovetsky

THE STARTING XI:
The Archregimancy plays in an orthodox 4-4-2 formation (style: 0)

GK:
Fr. Justinian the Thrice-Blessed (Pantaleimon): Roundly acknowledged as the best goalkeeper in the Monastic League, Fr. Justinian saved three shots in the penalty shoot-out that decided a recent Pantaleimon v Pantocrator Monastic Cup semi-final.

DEF:
Fr. Michael the New Hermit (Hermits United): On those rare occasions where he actually leaves his small cell high in the mountains to play for his team, Fr. Michael the New Hermit is a left-back of no little skill and refinement.

Fr. Michael the Greater (Troitse-Sergiyeva): His name has nothing to do with his devotion – this towering centre-back is merely several centimetres taller than his namesake and teammate Fr. Michael the Lesser.

Fr. Dmitri the Humble (Pantocrator): While vowed to silence and humility, there’s nothing humble about this centre-backs crunching tackles.

Fr. Michael the Lesser (Troitse-Sergiyeva): Club teammate of Fr. Michael the Greater, and a speedy overlapping right-back fond of taking corners.

MID:
Fr. Andrew the Twice-Found (Vatopedion): This left-winger has had two spells at Vatopedion either side of a spiritual journey through the vast emptiness of the Archregimancy’s desert.

Fr. Polycarp the Venerable (unattached hermit): Huge controversy has been caused within the Archregimancy by the announcement that the former captain has come out of retirement to anchor the midfield for WC 28, relegating star midfielder Fr. Constantine the Learned to the substitutes bench. Is this a masterstroke by coach Kyrill, or as age finally caught up with the venerable central midfielder?

Fr. David the Water-Drinker CAP (Llanilltud Fawr): The only western-rite player on the squad - and controversial choice as captain - this central midfielder is renowned for spurning the heretical properties of Gatorade for the spiritually uplifting properties of pure spring water.

Fr. Pavel the Wanderer (Iviron): Iviron’s star right-winger – a celibate priest rather than a monk - often drifts in from the wing in the course of one of his trademark mazy dribbles.

FOR:
Fr. Silouan of the Seventy Caves (Solovetsky): This centre forward’s goalscoring ability is second only to his attention to the Holy Fasts.

Fr. Basil the Faster (Pantaleimon): Even more devoted to the Holy Fasts than Fr. Silouan - this past Great Lent he ate nothing but grass - Fr. Basil is also quite a speedy little forward.

GK

OOC: I realise my team might present a role-playing challenge. Rest assured that once they start playing they'll play just like any other team (though they might be a bit more inclined to pray after scoring), so I have no problem with you treating the team like any other if you don't want to deal with the Orthodox Christian element.
