Orean Grand Prix moved to second-last race in calendar, organisers worried
Organisers of the Grand Prix of Liverpool England have questioned the moving of the race at the Orean Desert Circuit from third race of the season in year 2 to second-last race this season by F1GP officials. The organisers, who had also put forward the Cyclonesville Motor Racing Circuit (shortened to WT Raceway; WT is the two-letter abbreviation for Western Territories and the circuit is the only one in the territory) for a Crna Gora Liv Eng Grand Prix, are worried that this means Orean is being overlooked for "fresher" tracks, said Paul Ünster, CEO of LEC Holdings, which owns the circuit as well as the LEC Group, which sponsors the LivEng Racing team.

"This may mean that they no longer see Orean as a major race, pushing it near the end, when the title may have been secure. Or one could seeit as they're making it more important, as the title could be decided in Orean. We are disappointed, however, that the WT Raceway was rejected as a Grand Prix venue. We'll be in discussion with the Ministry of Tourism whether we should put the WT Raceway forward next season as the Liverpool England Grand Prix, relegating Orean. Or we could use the Schimpol Waterway on Lox Land, which hasn't seen competitive racing in a couple of years now."

Racing Squids ready for first season and to welcome F1 to Georgeonia!

The 'Racing Squids' of GCI Racing staged a press conference today,
one day ahead of their fist ever competative race. Both drivers
and the team administration sounded positive as they talked about the
season ahead, and about the many hard hours of training and testing
that they have put in over the last year. Seventeen teams have entered
the competition this year, including some highly regarded veterans,
and the Racing Squids know they will have to perform beyond
expectations in order to shock the other teams. As the season schedule
was anounced, there was great celebration amongst the staff at the
spectacular Oxoniapolis Race Track as they discovered that they
would be hosting race 6 of the season. Preperations to welcome
the teams and fans of the F1 world are already underway in the capital
and at the track itself. In more dissapointing news, the media
industry has reported that it is to stage the latest in a long and
highly annoying series of strikes, deliberately timed so as to cause
maximum disruption to the sports viewing public. The people of
Georgeonia will therefore be able to see the season's opening race,
but will then face an agonising four race news blackout, before the
media industry returns to work. One minor consolation is that the
Georgeonian Grand Prix will not be one of the races missed due to this
strike. Whether or not they will be able to watch their boys in
action, the people of Georgeonia are behind their drivers 100%, and
a large crowd saw them get onto the team plane for the flight to
Bedistan for race day 1.

Roger Stoddard in testing

Fresh from Olympic triumph, Roger Stoddard and Jeff Jordan were making a serious assault on winning races this year. They were ahead of schedule.

Scott Stoddard was mightily disappointed not to make the team - Bob Turner had surprisingly kept his spot after a lacklustre year, where he was very much the spear-carrier. Question is, given his consistency, was the car poor or was Roger Stoddard overdriving?
Rosberg
11-04-2006, 21:00
Fly Saudia Rosberg-Cosworth - better known by passionate Rosberg F1 fans as "Silly Bull Racing" - are quietly confident of making a big splash in this years F1 World Championship.
Team Manager George Zip, who also doubles as the T driver for Rosberg in this year's championship, as well as being coach of Rosberg's inaugural Soccer World Cup team, has his small team of mechanics and aerodynamicists working round the clock to ensure a competitive package arrives at Bedistan for race 1.

Drivers Keke and Nico Rosberg (no relation) are hoping to give good accounts of themselves, and have been training hard throughout the northern winter in preparation.
Both drivers smiled a lot and nodded regularly during today's press conference launching the team, but said little. Most of the talking was done by George Zip.

"I am confident that this team will do the job. We have been working very hard, and I am sure if games come down to penalties then we will have the upper hand", said a flustered looking Mr Zip before being reminded exactly where he was.
"And when I say penalties I meant we wouldnt be getting any", he quickly corrected himself.
"This car, this team, is what Rosberg is all about", said Mr Zip, pointing in the general direction of the lurid bottle green Rosberg-Cosworths on the display dias.
It remains to be seen, just how truthful this statement will turn out to be, but one thing is for certain, it will be interesting to follow the fortunes of Rosberg's flagship F1 team this season.

TCR - Last second revealing, back-pack qualifying runs in Bedistan

Twin Crescent Racing, at the very last second before qualifying for the GP of Bedistan, finally revealed the racing livery (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/Gizeh/f1car-final-2006.png) of their F1 car, officially the TCR 447C. The car, with a revised livery from the previous two seasons, also sports additional changes since the test cars were seen in Petronas - small winglets over the front tire carraige, under-nose fins running down the length of the nosecone, and, most curiously, slits behind the exhaust outlets; "gills" that, as of now, haven't had their purpose explained. Experts argue that they perhaps function in regulating engine or drivetrain temperatures, although exactly how remains unexplained.

After the two-hour prerace revealing, team pilots James KeFlinger and Scott LeCroix took to the track at Bedistan, where they put up a dismal showing - KeFlinger at 19th, LeCroix at 25th, signifigantly off of pole, set by LivEng's Mike Daniels.

Hopes remain high in the TCR camp; they've been through bad qualifying sessions, yet on race day produced points. Cake's "He's going the distance" is the theme of the TCR paddock, and all the team members are hoping for a points finish, if not 1st & 2nd.

“Well, I'm just a regular fellow from Non-Earth Alabama. Always liked racing and the like, and since they've repealed these automotive laws when I was about five, and made these Formula cars street-legal, when I was old enough to drive, I got myself one of those – and as you see I got good enough for the Casari races.” - Leonard Soros smiles, throwing his long hair back and fixing it in a horsetail.”

“Well, first of all, we have done quite well, ma'am. Tenth place is wonderful, really – compared to the forty poor sods who didn't make it that far.”

“I see, Mr. Soros. Do you have anything to add, here?”

“Yeah. I would like to thank the Allanean Arms Corporation – without them, I certainly wouldn't have gotten that far.”

The screen fades to black, then is replaced with the view of a man’s face. He is disheveled and wretched, and he is leaning on a barbed wire fence from the inside. He is obviously a prisoner.

"For decades, our country has been enslaved by a tyrant - and the peaceful Bigtopians have dreamed of freedom. Today, it will happen."

The camera pans out, and we see the concentration camp assaulted by dozens of resistance fighters with Allanean Arms AA-FAL rifles, Anne Coulter MkI fighter planes launching missiles at the guard towers. As the screen fades to black , we see the fence fall and thousands of prisoners run to their freedom. Then, the picture of an intelligent man, obviously a scientist, appears on-screen.

"For generations, my people have dreamed of the stars. Today, with some help, we are making it happen."

A large rocket is seen, standing on a launch pad. As it rises outwards, we see a large Allanean Arms logo on its side. Fade to black. A small girl’s appears.

Come on, come on, just another corner to go, then the kink and the straight - nail it, Rog - and there's the time...a hundredth away from pole...but on the right side of the grid.

It was a good day for Wentland as both cars comfortably made the top 10. The influx of new entrants made qualifying itself a struggle but so long as they were in the race the rest would follow.

Oscar Phillips at the back...he tended to qualify badly, but doubtless he would be at the front in rapid order. Certainly one to watch on this tight track.

The team plan was evident. Turner was going heavy. Fewer stops. Try to hold up the field and work on attrition. Stoddard was much lighter and needed a banzai start.

So far the Stellars had had one podium finish in their only season. Time to double it?

Good start for Team Backbreaker

For Agila, the Formula One Grand Prix is their first foray into professional racing, despite being a name almost household throughout our nation. As the qualifying sessions began, questions were being asked as to the quality of their cars - it was well known that they had chosen to eschew aerodynamics in favour of greater cornering ability and better all-round reliability.
The Bedistani track, in particular, looked to support Agila's view; while not filled with tight turns, there were enough to hopefully afford Team Backbreaker an advantage of some of their more aerodynamically-inclined rivals, such as the Flying Sloths.

However, Josh Harter has every right to feel cheated. His second place lap - and consequently, his second spot on the grid - was .001 seconds slower than the eventual victor, Mike Daniels of LivEng Racing. Team-mate Michael Verde was a significant distance behind him, as he finished thirteenth. The performance of the cars themselves was good, and will go a long way towards answering the questions on Agila's credibility.

Liverpool Englander wins in Bedistan amid high security
LEC LivEng Racing's Mike Daniels led the Bedistani Grand Prix from start to finish to clinch his first-ever F1GP race victory amid high security. Just barely weeks after the World Cup Final, in which Bedistan beat Liverpool England 3-1, tensions and spirits still ran high among Bedistanis, and Daniels and teammate Troy Wilkins, who crashed out on lap 48, required heavy security.

Daniels ran the perfect race, pitting on laps 45 and 90 for a two-stop strategy, never losing the lead to Team Wentland's Roger Stoddard, who pitted on laps 41, 76 (during safety car period) and 91.

Lady Mariners Ready For World Cup
Saint-Monica Nautique

The Lady Mariners, the National Womens' Football Team of Kelse, are ready for their second appearence in the Womens World Cup, and this time, says newly appointed captain Centino, "Our girls will be ready." Comprised of the top girls in the University Womens Soccer A-League aged 17-22, the girls have been training non-stop since the announcement of the participation in the second cup. When leaving for the World Cup at Montréal International Airport, Forward Jezebel Rolland of Saint-Monica State was quoted as saying, "After the disaster of the last cup, I didn't think that we'd get another team going. This time we did, and thankfully we were able to practice together before the tournament."

The Lady Mariners, representing Kelse at the 2nd Womens World Cup, are as followed.

The Lady Mariners were drawn into Group B with New Montreal States, Algal States, Fmjphoenix, Gwazzaria, New-Lexington, and Dorian and Sonya. Kelse has a great chance of snagging a spot into the next round, but it will be tough. The Lady Mariners can likely get around Gwazzaria, New-Lexington, and Dorian and Sonya, but the real challenge will be against the top three teams. If Kelse can win either of the top three seeds, the Lady Mariners would be set.

The first match will be played against an unknown team from Gwazzaria. The girls are ready, but uncertainty is definately in the air. Before leaving for the tournament, Reneé Letendreo told reporters "I think were a great team, I mean, we definately are the best to represent Kelse. We are an offensive team, but we are great with defense. We will definately be a fierce team to compete with, and were going to put everything we know into each and every game, and hopefully this'll get us to the top."

The Lady Mariners first match against Gwazzaria will be televised live tomorrow on De Lux Sportif at 2:00pm with repeats on De Lux Sportif Reloaded at 8:00pm and 3:00am.

The Bedistan Grand Prix was a dramatic opening to the World Championship season.

As soon as the lights went out, Mike Daniels leapt into a clear lead, much to the displeasure of the Bedistan crowd, still on edge over the World Cup Final. And his race was particularly dull as he proceeded to win at his leisure.

The interest was in the battle for second behind him - at least for the first 23 laps. A whole stream of cars lay behind Harter whose Backbreaker car was very wide; on the tight Bedistan circuit overtaking is not easy. Eventually the car got away from him and he lost it at the turn 2 hairpin. Roger Stoddard locked up trying (successfully) to avoid him, but behind all hell broke loose. DeSerres hit Stoddard hard, damaging his car seriously enough to take him out of contention and after half-a-dozen pit stops his crew cried uncle (ironically just as his team-mate stopped on the circuit with a blown engine). Stoddard himself snuck through the gap, but now a good twenty seconds behind the leader and driving in a circumspect manner for the remainder of the race. Nett and Teraining both spun in avoidance, the former keeping his engine running and managing to squeak through having lost half-a-dozen places; Teraining unfortunately lost a lap having stalled, desperately trying to get his car bump-started.

The traffic jam at the tight hairpin affected the remainder of the field as well. There was almost literally no way through and everyone lost around 30 seconds crawling through the gap. This had the double effect of spreading the field slightly and making it easy for the first two - even with a damaged car Stoddard was able to nurse it home for the best result of his career. Obergio timed a pit-stop perfectly, his team radioing him in to avoid the kerfuffle, and gained massively as a result for an excellent podium on his debut. Bob Turner's fuel gamble may have paid off without the havoc but he was still able to score his best-ever result and score his first points. But he was a lap down on the first two.

The new points system has benefitted the Wentland team. A second and fourth - the first double top six finish - has given them a handy lead in the constructors' championship, to Jeff Jordan's delight. Troy Wilkins blew LivEng's chances of a double finish with a wall swipe, but he was outclassed by team-mate Daniels. The latter is looking good for the drivers' title - 100% record of pole, fastest lap and leading all the way.

"We qualified!"

"We what?"

"Qualified! Look, Jim's car was nineteenth fastest! We made it into the race!"

"WOW!"

"D'you think we might score some points?"

"Uh... no."

TCR scores points in second race of season
KeFlinger helps TCR bounce back from horrible start; team still off to slow start

James KeFlinger, pushing his TCR 447 up 11 positions from 16th, managed to score Twin Crescent Racing's first points of the season - 10 points for his 5th place finish. The new point system means that a few more finishes near or at pole cound give a team the lead, giving the Candrian-based team hope.

TCR is off to a slow start, however, with 1 car finishing in the last 2 races. No clear frontrunner has showed up this season so far, although LEC LivEng is starting to build up a stable points lead.

Wilkins makes up 22 positions, claims podium place
Troy Wilkins was the star of the day as the LEC LivEng Racing driver made up 22 positions to finish in 2nd after having a miserable qualifying (24th). Teammate Mike Daniels continues to lead the driver's championship standings after losing three places to finish sixth and to record the first double points-scoring race for the team this season.

LEC LivEng Racing, on 44 points, are now 11 points clear of Team Wentland. However, with the new points format this season, one race could see that lead disappear and Wentland in front. Wilkins' race was helped by him avoiding major accidents on laps 44 (which took out Josh Harter, and in the pits two laps later, Jim Owen) and 62 (which took out Scott LeCroix and Luigi Nett three laps later due to mechanical failure).

"What a stupid bloody race."

"Yeah, Rog was on for a podium but for that incident."

"What was Fitzsimmons doing? No way should he have weaved like that."

"Looked like he had a tyre go down. Couldn't help it."

"And the bloody overtaking...everyone stuck behind Daniels...what was the point of that?"

"Wilkins seemed to manage it OK."

"He was on the light fuel, though. Those pace cars fell right into his hands."

"Where are we next?"

"VaNova. No idea what it looks like. Then home."

Roger and Scott Stoddard and Bob Turner turned up for a practice session at Davenant and were met with a bit of a surprise.

"New sponsor, lads! It's enabled me to tidy up the aerodynamics a little. Change the radiator profile and so on."

"Wow...that's quite something...let's have a go..."

Following a thorough testing session it appeared that the new car was perhaps three-tenths of a second faster than the old one. "But I'm optimistic on the development...now we have financing we might be able to keep tuing this one in. The original iteration was looking a bit tired."

Adam Teraining and Dave Prast, of Bostopia F1 are sat in the team's garage after their third qualifying session. They are joined by team manager Barry Sleed, who is less than impressed.

[Sleed] Three races into the season and not one of you have picked up a SINGLE POINT? What's the problem guys?

Neither of the drivers spoke a single word.

[Sleed] Is that it? Nothing. No problems. Adam, you qualied 6th in Nalimaria, and finished where?
No reply came.
[Sleed] WHERE?
[Teraining] Sixteenth.
[Sleed] Exactly. A drop of 10 places. 16th out of 21. And 2 laps down! And Mr.Prast, you didn't even qualify! You know we've got a test driver, don't you? And do you think he wants to race? Yes. Yes he does, and he won't mourn you having to leave YOUR race seat.

Sleed walked toward the door.

[Sleed] Remember this. You're both just over one hundreth of a second off pole in qualifying. I want a result. The Emperor wants a result. He didn't take money out of the military's budget for no reason, got that?

Sleed walks out, slamming the door.

"You guys were both pathetic out there"

"Yeah but both of us happened to be stuck behind those friggin Pepsi cars" said Pruitt as she turn on the onboard videos of her and Chris' cars.

"Yeah and they where both leaking oil wich didn't help" Weisner chirped in

"If your gonna talk with any one you better talk with the Oli's and moan to them"

Roger Stoddard pulled in after his sixth qualifying lap. "This is HOPELESS, boss. It's completely random. Everyone's at 100% throughout, it's all set-up."

"Just cos Bob is beating you, eh?"

"Not really, no. Look at the times. In a 2 minute lap you can cover the entire field in half a second! At least I should be in the field, it needs a dozen cars to go faster, and I think the track's at its fastest."

"OK, we need some new tactics for the race then...zero stops or loads of stops?"

"One of each...cover ourselves. God, I hope it rains. That will put the cat amongst the pigeons."

[Kirr] This is Stephanie Kirr reporting LIVE on Channel 9 Griffwitness News, Bostopia from the VaNova Raceway, Virginia Nova!

I bring you news that Bostopia's driver, Adam Teraining finished tenth in today's race, picking up three points for him and the Bostopia F1 team. And with me now IS Adam Teraining. Adam, tell the fans back home, what did it take to move up from 16th into a point scoring position?

[Teraining] Well, Greg, I got past a few guys at the start, but LeCroix going out the race did help, he'd qualified infront of me, same can be said for Escarez and Brown, of course, that got another 3 out the way. So really, it took a a car that wanted to perform and a bit of skill from me to get past the guys.

[Kirr] What can you tell us about Dave Prast's failure?

[Teraining] It was a hydraulics failure from what I was told. Of course, as he had a problem, I had to slow down a little, which probably cost me one or two places.

[Kirr] Will the team have the problem sorted out by the Wentland Grand Prix?

[Teraining] Oh, definately. We've got a great bunch of guys in the garage, a lot of them work or have worked as engineers and such in the military, repairing tanks and the like in the middle of battles in the region, such as the invasion of Adoros, and Hailstonia.

[Kirr] Back to yourself, how do you plan on finishing a bit quicker next time?

[Teraining] Well, I'm going to put in some test sessions round the Port Flamerty International Circuit, that's open to the public so we'd love for them to come along, and Dave Prast and our test driver Kevin Lorr will also be there.

[Kirr] Ok, thanks for your time, and back to Greg in the studio.

Bacon:And dang it Whit! You could of fineshed in points to but something happened,I never fully heard what happend?

Whittny Pruitt:Wilkins just freakin blocked my off the road heading down the back straight! I ended up spinning and losing all that time.

Chris: that was funny watching the fans through beer cans at him

Bacon: I guess beating up 4 Oli mechanics didn't send a messege so I think I ought to teach them a thing about messing with Ukrops f1.

Wentland Echo
Total Eclipse!
Twin Crescents lock out front row

The village of Davenant was in festival mood as the attention of the world focussed on the first-ever world class sporting event to be held in Wentland. The bab and balti vendors were in high spirits as their distinctive brand of cuisine was enjoyed by visitors from all over and profits were high.

The TCR team was particularly enamoured with the fare and used it to their advantage. James KeFlinger and Scott LeCroix used their brains as well as their power to ensure a front-row lock-out for the team; having watched the Stellars of Bob Turner and Roger Stoddard circulate together, swapping over for alternate laps, set the early pace, they emerged together with 16 minutes of the session to go and each set a one-and-two lap time.

The Wentland cars went out again at the close of the session, but such was the traffic of cars trying to avoid not qualifying that they could not improve sufficiently. Indeed, the cumulative effect of mass slipstreaming meant that a couple of cars at the back of the queue set much better times than expected, chief amongst them Mina Escarez who was within a whisker of pole.

It's been a tough season so far for LeCroix but having qualified in second he will be keen to get his first points of the season. However the Wentland team is still well placed, on this circuit kind to overtaking a maiden win is definitely possible. And with LivEng not performing so well and one of the X1Xes not even qualifying, there is an excellent chance of denting the top of the Constructors' Title.

"We all know it happent in Virginia Nova, where courts are illegal, but the Oliverrian laws are formal: anything happening against an Oliverrian, even away from the nation, is subject to the Oliverrian law. If nothing happens, which will surely happen, I'm going to settle the thing myself later at the Oliverrian race. He will know Oliverrians are a proud nation and won't let this happen anymore." The crowd whooped even more. Royal Davenant? A rare pleasure.

"Gentlemen, please clear the grid..."

The hooter went and the massed technicians gradually trooped off. A little difficulty in getting Wilson's Bennett going, but otherwise all AOK.

The red lights started flashing and the cars took off for their warm-up lap and the noise increased. Slowly, warming their tyres, Harter nearly losing it near the back.

A bit of acceleration from KeFlinger coming up to the Hanger sequence before he braked to close up the field. Nearly catching Obergio unawares. Down to the hairpin, ample chance to bunch everyone together and off to the start-finish line. Turner attacked his grid position with some relish, slamming on anchors and risking a flat-spot - but leaving some rubber with which he could get extra grip for the start.

"Nader at the back is in place...the lights are coming on...

one...

two...

three...

four...

five..."

The heartbeat of the grid went up to an average of 150bpm.

The heartbeat of the crowd went up to an average of 160bpm.

The scream of the engines hushed the expectant throng...

It was about to...

TCR Locks down front row at WentlandDrivers pleased with results, hope for tomorrow & next race at home

Twin Crescent Racing placed it's first pole position this season, as well as it's first capture of the entire front row in team history, at Wentland earlier today, as James KeFlinger and Scott LeCroix secured pole and 2nd, with times of 1.15.000 and 1.15.003, respectively, as they beat out Blackpool (and fellow Casari) driver Mina Escarez and resident driver Bob Turner.

The two Dominion-sponsored drivers buckled down on the track in dominating fashion, pulling off near-perfect laps on the breakneak Wentland track at Davenant. The cars were missing some of the aerodynamic elements that for the beginning of the season seemed standard, such as the winglets above the suspension, and they both bore smaller chin-wings; TCR apparently had the most drastically changed aerodynamics package for the race.

With a 1-2 finish, Twin Crescent Racing would be at 56 points in the Constructor's championship, and possibly even a close 2nd if LivENG fails to secure points.

KeFlinger, after qualifying, described the car feeling "like butter on a hot skillet" through the track. "I was flying. It felt like I didn't need to stress the brakes until the hairpin, and with all the straights I knew I could push the 1000+ horsepower under the pedal. It was a hell of a rush."

"It's so easy to go fast here and push the car to it's max, because of the flowing turns leading to long straights," said LeCroix. "I can really feel that even the times we pushed out here could be made better, because, like we always do, we ran with a high fuel load, and I actually think that helped, because we could swing the cars throught the hairpin just like [teammate James KeFlinger] said, like butter on a hot skillet."

However, the session was punctuated by 2 events - Ukrop F1's driver Whitney Pruitt's failed qualifying run (and his subsequent quitting of the race), and the indictment of team manager Mark Bacon for accusations of attacking Écurie Pepsioli Dallaire technicians.

Whitney Pruitt, on the backend of his flying lap, miscalculated the hairpin turn, and flew through the maintenence road and into a barrier, ending a lap that was on pace for 1.15.04~ and a midpack start. Team officials stated of his subsequent departure that he's gonna "go home and watch [teammate] Chris [Weisner] drive."

Shortly afterwards, however, charges were pressed on team manager Mark Bacon by Oliverry courts, under accusations that he assaulted technicians from Oliverry-based EPD during the last race. Although details are still currently sketchy, and Bacon, a mountain at 6'4" and 275 lbs, hasn't been extradited to Oliverry, experts are saying that whatever happens may hinder Ukrop F1's season of development, and stunt thier growth.

[Sleed] Well, that race went less than well, didn't it?
[Teraining] Yeah...qualifying tenth I thought I may have had a good shot, but that loss of traction going into the Hairpin turn put an end to that. Hey, at least Dave put a bit of oil down on the track for the urr Rosberg-Cosworth and LEC LivEng cars.
[Prast] Haha yeah, I got a good view of them crashing out too, I thought it was worth hanging around trackside for a bit.

At that point, Rosberg and Daniels walk past the Bostopia F1 garages, and Dave Prast gives them a quick wave.

[Prast] Well, that's me being cut up in the next race.
[Teraining] It was worth it. Hey Barry, I know there's only 4 races gone, but are we entering next season?
[Sleed] Yeah, the Emperor's pretty pleased with the effort, it's good for tourism or something. Speaking of that, we're looking to enter a race next season.
[Teraining] Seriously?! That'd be awesome.
[Sleed] The Bostopian Motorsport Association (BMA) is thinking of the Fort Boston Park circuit, with a minor modification...racing through Fort Boston Castle Plaza.
[Prast] Oh that's right, cause you can get into the park through the plaza...wait, past Fort Boston Castle?
[Sleed] That's it. Anyway, we've gotta pack up and head to the Candrian Empire's Midland Park Circuit.

KeFlinger gets 1st as both TCR drivers finish in the points
Finish brings momentum to home track

James KeFlinger placed in 1st and Scott LeCroix, after a brake problem cost him half a lap, managed to stay in the points, as both TCR cars, for the first time this season, finished in the points.

KeFlinger had a stranglehold on the race, finishing flawless lap after flawless lap and setting a fastest lap at a staggering 1.14.579 midrace. His overall lead on the high speed track was over half a minute over Casari-backed Blackpool's Mina Escarez. However, whenever the gap seemed to be closing up, KeFlinger would begin to pump out extremely low lap times, as his high fuel load began to diminish. Escarez, despite having a good day himself, couldn't compete with KeFlinger's near-perfect day.

Scott LeCroix, on the otherhand, ran into mechanical troublesby by lap 60. After taking hold of 2nd since the start, LeCroix seemed on pace to finish right behind the on-fire KeFlinger, but an incident for Bostopia F1 driver Dave Prast at the hairpin caused an oil spill; the oil caused LeCroix to loose traction going into the hairpin, and caused a lockup and a small tap into the wall; although nothing appeared immediately wrong, within the lap thick black smoke and even some flames were coming from the left rear tire of LeCroix's car, as the carbon-fiber brake began to disintigrate, as the now-unseated brakepads began to dig into the discs. Instead of retiring, however, LeCroix took a pitstop at lap 60, and got the brake replaced, the legality of this is still in question. Although he only lost about 14 seconds on the pitstop, it was time that he would be unable to make up, and he'd have to settle for 8th.

The next race on schedual is the home race at Midlan Park; if both drivers bring the momentum of this race with them, sans the heartbreaking mechanical issues, then the team has a shot of another front-row qualifying and even a finish, which could propel the team to 1st in the constructors ranking with 71 points, and could bring KeFlinger into 1st for the Drivers' Championship. However, to have any hope of TCR being alone at the top, LivENG absolutely must not score points; with a high lead so far at 67, any addition to their lead could put them too far above anyone else.

Argument for fewer laps rears head again
Perennial protests resurface

Drivers and constructors are again arguing for fewer laps, complaining that the high lap totals mean that low-funded teams are often unable to finish races, hindering their development.

Now, however, they bring up a new argument-televised ratings.

Team managers are now stating that fewer laps could bring a renewed emphases on speed, which means more battles for position, more exciting laps, and, most importantly, more viewers.

"And KeFlinger leads into the first corner...LeCroix second...Stoddard's making a move on Obergio but he can't make it stick...Bob Turner in third...good start from him..."

As the cars came around at the end of lap 1 the stands resembled a giant blue and white wave as fans stood up in their Stellar souvenirs to see where Bob Turner and Roger Stoddard were...third and fifth. It was one heck of an emotion for the Stellar crew and Jeff Jordan.

Roger Stoddard was on an absolute tear. He soon displaced Obergio and Escarez and was on his team-mate's tail. Turner decided discretion was the better part of valour and waved him through on the pit-straight, in full view of the crowd. Stoddard was now in third place and going for it.

Unfortunately, the twice-lapped Dave Prast blew his engine sky-high on his 58th lap and left a trail of oil. LeCroix was the first leader on the scene and he lost it. Stoddard was on his tail and could not react and he also went off. Turner slowed to avoid the incident and Escarez took advantage to take over what was now second place. Disaster for the crowd, especially as Stoddard needed a pit-stop to replace the nose cone and was dropped nearly a lap behind.

However Bob Turner was able to ensure a podium finish for the home crowd and the debonair chauffeur grinned as he climbed to the third step for the first time in his career. Where was Golden Bollocks, eh? Not in Championship contention...

Golden Bollocks was desperately haring around to salvage something - but all he could do was finish on the lead lap, the utterly dominant KeFlinger taking pity on him and easing up towards the end. However on the lighter fuel tanks (and on fresher tyres) Stoddard set the fastest lap of the race on lap 66. What might have been...

OOC: I think Wilkins needs another couple of points - see table

"How about that, then, Jeff? No doubt about the number one driver..." needled Turner.

"At least Rog was trying..."

"Come on, Jeff...I was biding my time. Bit difficult to get to the front without a partner, old boy."

"Yeah, well..."

"The point is at the moment I'm ahead in the title race. I think I deserve as decent a treatment as Roger. I told you this new points system would assist the regulars, not just the crash and burn merchants. Worth a look, what?"

"Mmm...you could be right. I'm looking into more funding for development, your podium could assist in that...lot of home interest..."

Bob Turner seemed to have been transformed. His warm-up session times were comfortably quicker than Roger Stoddard's. His contention for the title had rejuvenated the veteran and he was storming in the car, jocular out of it.

But official qualifying had been a disaster. On his first flyer he dived inside the agonizingly slow Nalik who unexpectedly turned on on him. One quick collision later the Stellar was written off and Turner was haring back to the pits for the spare car.

Roger Stoddard meanwhile was safely, if unspectacularly, in the field - whereas Turner could not get out until late in the session. And his times were a lot poorer. One final banzai effort saw him record a 18.839. It was good enough for 26th - but then Nett and Prast set times better than that in the final ten seconds. Bob Turner had failed to qualify.

Stepping out of the car, Turner was phlegmatic before the media. "Those are the breaks, chaps...chicken one day, feathers the next...these things happen. At least I can have a day off for once."

Inside the team trailer, however, he was incandescent. "I told you, Jordan, I should get the number one treatment. Why in the name of arse was the spare set up for Golden Bollocks? I can't cope with oversteer."

"Because you should have been bloody good enough to qualify in a bloody wheelbarrow."

"A wheelbarrow might have been quicker! You could have blown the title, mate."

"Shut up, shut up. Or I'll bloody fire you."

"There's sensible. How's that going to look back home? Prat."

"Just get out of my bloody sight. We'll discuss this later."

"Billybob" Brundell had a long way to go with his grid walk to speak to Jeff Jordan - and it was raining as well, dammit, a quick shower sending all and sundry scurrying off to find the wets. However he found an almost serene set of mechanics moseying around the blue car back in 20th place.

"Jeff, most of the grid is changing to wets, why aren't you?"

"We're so far down we may as well take a gamble. We've told Roger to stay with dries. We're thinking that this shower will soon blow over and the circuit will quickly dry. The main problem is down in the Dip, where there is standing water, but you never know."

Billybob had to dash to reach Dickie Dinenage in the commentary box to discuss. As he was running back he noticed the rain had stopped, just as the order to clear the grid had been made. Perhaps this was an inspired gamble after all?

“And it’s GO!!!! A lot of spray but Johnson is in the lead…Havon and Verde slow away and M’Naghten is going between them…all sorts of chaos on the long drag…they’re four abreast at some points…heading to the Dip, this will sort out the men from the boys…Johnson retains the lead, M’Naghten second…Verde’s off and Browne follows suit…they’ve lost plenty of places…Nader has made an amazing start and he’s up to sixth already…Stoddard tiptoes through, the only one on dries, and he’s still twentieth…”

Around the twistier bits and Roger Stoddard finished lap one in twenty-second. But a dry line was starting to appear already as the Stonebridge and Bibendum tyres were mopping up the water with great efficiency. At the end of the second lap Stoddard was still down amongst the dead men, but he had not lost ground on the leaders, still only fifteen seconds back, and by the end of lap 3 he was up to seventeenth. Lapping a second quicker than the others.

First to go for it was Escarez, down in eighteenth; the Blackpool Racing team having seen Stoddard go by on the inside going into the Dip and just about hold it on exit they decided to call the number 34 in. Quick change to dries and a clear track, albeit stone last barring one, but now lapping 2 seconds quicker than the field. Fitzsimmons had also been called in but he elected to stay out. The “barring one” was Dave Prast who followed Escarez into the pits, he was dead last anyway so nothing to lose.

A couple of laps later and Stoddard was up to fourth, with a good seven seconds per lap over the leaders and he was now on the tail of Johnson, M’Naghten and Charette. There was a large gap back to fifth as drivers were pitting all over but the leaders had seemingly been caught up in their own private battle. Suddenly there was great excitement as all the leaders pitted together, Johnson diving in and out in a very short 6 seconds but confusion in the GCI pit saw Charette steal a place. But now Stoddard was in a clear lead.

When everything was shaken out the Stellar was winning and Jeff Jordan was biting his nails. Still the thick end of 60 to go. Nader was second, Escarez third, Prast fourth. LeCroix was fifth, another early stopper. Johnson had emerged down in ninth and Verde, who had been the last of the drivers to pit, was now dead last.

But it was still slippy off line. Seppi Browne, trying to make up for his first lap fumble, forgot about the extra water in the dip and in a banzai effort straight out of the pits nearly took out Pruitt as he headed for the barrier at full speed. Havon turned 360 there a bit later. And the LivEng cars were dancing around their centres of gravity, set up for low downforce, hoping to kill with their straight-line speed – exactly the wrong thing in the conditions.

Three-quarter-distance and Stoddard was fifteen seconds ahead. But then there were a few spots of rain. The LivEng team decided to take a risk and brought in Daniels and Wilkins to take advantage. They came out of the pits as the rest of the field slowed down – and within a lap the rain had stopped and the circuit was pretty much dry. So the weary LivEng pit crew were forced into action yet again to change Daniels’ tyres. Wilkins stayed out for a couple more laps, but it was hopeless and he was lapped. Back in for dries, out he goes…just as a cloudburst turned the circuit into a pool.

This time Stoddard decided to come in to wets, followed by LeCroix. Obergio also came straight in, the X1X team following Jeff Jordan’s tactics, and Johnson, fed up in ninth, did likewise a lap later. Nader stayed out to lead, followed by Escarez and Prast. After one lap of that Escarez and Prast had had enough. They came in. But Nader could see glory. He was ten laps from victory. He had a thirty second lead over Stoddard and if the rain stopped he would win. No way could the field make up the 30 seconds difference. The Allanean outfit was on the pit wall, some imploring their driver to come in and change, others urging him on. Alas, the rain was a lot heavier than at the start, and although Nader led lap 53 he did not see lap 54…aquaplaning off, beached in the Dip, the Needles of Death sponsored car was out. Nader himself distraught.

So now it was Stoddard in a safe lead over LeCroix and Obergio. Johnson had benefited from his stop and was back to fourth. The other Needles of Death car was safely in the points following its tyre change and even overtook Prast who got into a mix-up with his team-mate. The main interest in the closing sections of the race was the battle for ninth, with Rosberg, Charette and Wilson, who had been together following the first pit-stops, dicing between each other. Stoddard was coming up to lap them but with a large lead he just sat back “just in case”.

The laps counted down…60, 61, 62…and the chequer came out for Roger Stoddard. One hour, twenty-four minutes and three seconds after the lights went out Roger Stoddard was a Grand Prix winner. Jeff Jordan’s famous hat was launched into the air and post-race Billybob could barely get a word out of him. First time he had been speechless.

LEC LivEng Racing make shock announcement
Tim Owens to drive in Georgeonia in place of #3 car Daniels

LEC LivEng Racing shocked everyone after the disappointing race in The Candrian Empire by announcing that test driver Tim Owens would drive the #6T spare car in place of #3 Mike Daniels, who's currently placed 8th in the drivers standings despite a promising start to the season.

LEC LivEng Racing lost their lead in the constructors' race as well, as Wentland's Roger Stoddard claimed victory to push his team into the lead on that account. The team also confirmed in a press statement that Yanay Stanislav would drive in Marshalliston should Owens or Wilkins slip up in Georgeonia.

Wilkins wins at Georgeonia, Stanislav to drive for Daniels in Oliverry
Troy Wilkins secured LEC LivEng Racing's second win of the season with a stunning performance at the Grand Prix of Georgeonia, taking the checquered flag in just under an hour and 37 minutes.

Teammate Mike Daniels watched from the pit garages as his poor performance at the Candrian Grand Prix had cost him his spot here in Georgeonia, although he was apologised to by the team after replacement Tim Owens failed to even qualify for the race, the first time this season an LEC LivEng Racing driver has done so.

Even then, the team confirmed that Yanay Stanislav, the team's other test driver, would race in place of Daniels at the Grand Prix of Oliverry in Marshalliston. Daniels is expected back in his seat the following race.

Damn Turner. What the heck was he playing at? He had a great chance for points but tried a dumb move on Nett, not a shrinking violet, and the resulting shunt took them both out.

Damn Stoddard. What the heck was he playing at? Ignoring the yellow flags for the same incident and getting a drive-through. Then chucking it away trying to catch up. And getting lapped just before the safety car when Sam Havon dismantled the barrier.

Damn. Damn. Damn. Goodbye Championship lead. Still, he had to write the press release.

The Stellar Racing Team enjoyed mixed fortunes at the Grand Prix of Georgeonia. After a solid qualifying performance, Roger Stoddard had a spell running in the top three and looked good for some serious point scoring.

Team-mate Bob Turner enjoyed a fearsome dice for seventh place with Gigi Nett of the Puff F1 team.

Unfortunately for the Wents it went sour when a rumbustious piece of driving saw Turner and Nett climbing out of their cars. Bob Turner took it all in his typically suave stride. "You win some, you wreck some," he remarked, his eyes aglint.

The trouble was compounded when Stoddard overtook Phillips for second place a lap later. Roger had not noticed the incident and a yellow flag was displayed. He tried to pull out of the move and let the TeK car past, but he was reported to the stewards and suffered a drive-through penalty. In an attempt to regain positions he spun the car a few laps later, just as the delayed Havon was being lapped by Rosberg and the inattentive X1X man took both cars out. The safety car picked up Wilkins in the lead and Stoddard was just behind him, a lap down.

"We shall be back for the Oliverry race," asserted Jeff Jordan. "We have a great many friends there from World Cup 26 and hope to enjoy their famous hospitality. The circuit is quite fast and should suit us."

There, he thought. That should suit the plebs.

The Ukrops team had found their debut World Championship season somewhat tough going but they were determined to compete in all the races. They had underestimated the competitiveness and degree of ruthlessness needed to compete at the highest level but were nevertheless improving and had scored a promising seventh at Georgeonia. Unfortunately things were going against them at the Marshalliston circuit and with a scant six minutes left in qualifying their cars were lying twenty-ninth and thirteith.

They certainly did not expect a helping hand from an opposing team. But Jeff Jordan sent a team of mechanics up pit lane with some special qualifying tyres developed by the Stellar team. "You could do with a bit of a perk-up," commented Jordan.

The Wentland mechanics assisted in the tyre fitting and Weisner and Pruitt went out on the near-deserted track. One lap to warm up their tyres, and they hit it. Around in the fastest times they had done all weekend. Coming out of the final corner Whitney Pruitt took advantage of the slipstream to pass Chris Weisner and the time had Pruitt half-a-second to the good. Both in the race.

It was only when the Ukrops team spotted whom they had bumped from the field that they realized why Jordan had been so magnanimous.

Mike Daniels obviously had a point to prove. Recalled to the LivEng team, he blitzed his way to 3rd fastest - eclipsing his title-leading team-mate who was in a subdued 23rd in qualifying.

For once the battle to get into the race was clear cut; there was a good second between moustachioed veteran Keke Rosberg and the hapless Funes for last on the grid.

The two Stellars toured the Aglia circuit together throughout much of qualifying, working on race set-up, then set fast times late on to get going on the third and fourth rows of the grid.

The suave Bob Turner was pleased with qualifying. "A bit better to be at the part of the grid where one can see the lights..." The lower formula veteran had had a desultory debut GP season, not even scoring a point, and it appeared that he would lose his seat to team-mate Roger Stoddard's kid brother Scott. But Jeff Jordan kept faith with Turner and it seemed to be paying off. Top 10 in the title battle and his first-ever podium demonstrating that the consistent Turner was an asset to the team. More famed for his engineering abilities than his outright speed, his advice on set-up had proved crucial before, and now it was paying dividends in bulk. Second in the Constructors' Title within a win of the lead. With Daniels ahead closing the gap will not be easy; but Wilkins will need to go some from near the back to score meaningful points.

Daniels Q3 at McPsychoville
Mike Daniels, returning to his seat in the team after two races out having been dropped, set a blistering pace in McPsychovile today in qualifying to qualify 3rd, 20 places ahead of teammate Troy Wilkins, who currently leads the world drivers' championship.

Daniels, whose time was just 6 thousandths of a second off pole, was said to be delighted, having lost his seat to Tim Owens, and then Yanay Stanislav, and seeing both his test drivers fail to qualify at circuits he thinks he would. "I'd've qualified at Oliverry and Georgeonia. No question. I'm disappointed that the team doubted me, but I'm back and am looking forward to racing in Orean."

"Thank you, Scott...now, Roger, second place today...how was it for you?"

"It was a bit dull. I could not make any progress at all so just concentrated on getting to the finish. I seemed to be behind all the incidents today."

"You narrowly escaped elimination on a number of occasions. Even on the first lap..."

"It looked as if Daniels was having trouble getting away...Bob tried to get him on the inside of the first turn, but he was not given any room...I squeezed through as they went off. I think they got back later?"

"That put you behind Luigi Nett...when his engine went...how did you avoid that?"

"I saw a bit of smoke behind him and nearly went off on oil, so I thought he was in doodoo...so I took a different line and BOOM! I was past."

"So you were fourth, behind LeCroix, Fitzimmons and Nalik. What happened then?"

"I thought they might not know about the blown engine and would get on the oil. I just sat back waiting and it worked, cos when Nalik had a go he lost it on the slippery bit and took Kraig out. That made it a lot easier. If I'd been much closer I'd've been caught up in it. I think Nalik was out as well?"

"He came back after a while but gave up later. What about young Nico Rosberg? You had him snapping at you and he nearly took you out..."

"Yeah, I couldn't believe he'd try there...how he stopped it I'll never know."

"But for the remainder of the race it was pretty dull?"

"Yeah...I was thinking of the title race. I knew Troy was struggling so just took it easy. No chance of catching this man here, he had us covered all weekend..."

Top 5 finish in Aglia keeps hopes alive in the Dominion

Scott LeCroix held off accidents, traffic, bumblings in race operations, and even more traffic, to keep hold of the 1st place in Aglia and keep TCR's hopes for a championship alive.

Despite qualifying in first place, Scott LeCroix remained dogged by accidents around him for nearly the entire race; right at the start, Mike Daniels of LivEng, starting a row behind LeCroix, fired off to, if all went right, what could have been an overtaking start - but with Scott taking an inside angle and Kraig Fitzimmons pulling out to try to improve position, Daniels and Fitzimmons bumped axles - which would lead to Fitzimmons with major drivetrain issues, despite remaining on track and heroically keeping pace until later being side-swiped. Had their been anymore lateral motion, both cars would have hit LeCroix, and he would have been almost assuradly out of the race. Daniels was forced back and overtaken by Riyo Nalik and Luigi Nett, but even here had to fight off people - battling with Bob Turner on the first turn, only to be overtaken by both him and Wentland's other driver Roger Stoddard, who took 2nd on the day.

LeCroix left accident after accident in his wake - after taking the hairpin hard, some bits of the aero package flew off his car, and got sucked into Luigi Nett's radiator on the short straight - despite holding on for a lap and a half, by then his engine was already dying - a giant puff of smoke and a new lake of oil made it's home on the track on the straight on the beginning of turn 4. Despite the fact that it was a major accident, cleanup crews failed to arrive, and there was no caution flag - which would lead to Nalik rubbing off Fitzimmons, and a new top 5 - LeCroix, Stoddard, Nico Rosberg (who would nearly crash trying to get past Stoddard), and a fast-fading and distant Bob Turner, who would soon be replaced by Oscar Phillips of Tango et Kartuma.

LeCroix, being somewhat easy on the car, began to form a solid lead, with most cars eventually being a lap or more behind. However, a grand majority of cars in the middle of the pack presented a problem - there was little distance between these cars, forming a solid block of traffic. This large mass of cars, coupled with the uncleaned oilslick left from Nett's engine explosion, seemed destined to create a major accident - with a dozen cars fighting for position, a crash was almost guaranteed. Scott didn't exactly do his part to limit the accidents - taking turns hard inside in the middle of traffic began to clump groups of lapped cars into eachother - which lead to a number of accidents - including Riyo Nalik being forced into a sidewall when being lapped by LeCroix and Roger Stoddard, who rode close to LeCroix's edge trying to find a passing lane. LeCroix would hold on, though, and build a strong lead at 1 minute, nine seconds - nearly an entire lap - capturing another win for TCR.

James KeFlinger had himself a good day, after starting 19th on a bad qualifying run, KeFlinger fought hard - placing 4th, a half second behind 3rd place driver George Nader of Needles of Death. Perhaps the biggest acheivement was KeFlinger even finishing the race at all - he's been hit with a long streak of bad luck. However, he managed to remain on the lead lap, staying ahead of his teammate. Scott LeCroix, had he pushed the car harder earlier, could have lapped the entire feild.

The win puts TCR in a position to win the Constructor's championship, a goal outlined since the inception of the team. Right now it sits on 3rd, 9 points behind leader LivEng. It also leaves the hopes of LeCroix and KeFlinger for a driver's championship alive. At this point, however, KeFlinger's chances are purely mathematical - he would have to place 1st in the next two races, and have no driver above him in the points standings score - almost an impossibility with how LivEng has been racing.

Pruit Vows to block

Apr.30 (GMM) An incensed Whitney Pruitt has vowed to intentionally 'block' Troy Wilkins the next time they meet on the formula one race track.

The Virginian, who slammed LEC's number one for ruining two of her races by Blocking her, told reporters that Wilkins inexplicably committed the wicked act on purpose.

''I don't want to knock him off the track,''30 year old Pruitt explained, ''but sooner or later I will do my utmost to obstruct him.''

Trulli accused the NSF1GP of seldom punishing his fellow director of the drivers' 'SAP' movement.

Asked if he had considered lodging a complaint with the stewards, he replied: ''Nothing would have happened -- LEC Is there major funder''

Home crowd disappointed with poor qualifying performance
The home crowd in Orean has been left disappointed with LEC LivEng Racing's poor performance in qualifying at the Orean Desert Circuit. Mike Daniels and Troy Wilkins both suffered gearbox problems when trying to change up into 6th gear, costing both time. However, fans were left breathing a sigh of relief as both drivers made the qualifying cut-off for the race.

LEC LivEng Racing is the only team that can mathematically secure the constructors' title in Orean, and the team will no doubt be going all-out for that. Daniels also admitted that he had loaded his car up enough for him to qualify, but do a one-stop pit strategy. "We're hoping it pays off."

"...this is the biggest win we have seen in Formula 1 for some time...Roger Stoddard had the luckiest of lucky breaks with the safety car but he has blitzed the field...a clear lap lead...as he heads towards the chequer...Stoddard WINS! There goes Jordan's hat...and Roger Stoddard and Wentland take the Championship lead with one race remaining...the home crowd is STUNNED...

"...the cars are following across the line now, a lap at least in arrears...and Pruitt has kept ahead of Wilkins with some radical lines, there...across the line they go...and what is Wilkins doing? Troy Wilkins has forced Pruitt's car into the pit-wall!!!! There is bad blood between these two but there is no excuse for that...

"Wilkins makes a gesture to the Ukrops driver and the crowd is on its feet applauding...Pruitt is climbing out of a very bent looking car, and she hurls her helmet at the LivEng car...what a finish to a dull race...Wilkins, clearly frustrated at Pruitt's blocking, has lost the title lead...the final race will be VERY interesting..."

One race to go. The Grand Prix of Casari. Jeff Jordan had secretly been hoping that Wilkins would be in serious trouble following the LiverpoolEngland Grand Prix and his forcing Pruitt into the barriers after the race. But Wilkins was apologetic afterwards; he explained to the stewards that he had not meant to do anything, but he had had a major steering problem throughout the race and that was the reason behind him (a) not getting past Pruitt and (b) spearing off to the right at the finishing line. A likely story, harrumphed Jordan, but an investigation post-race proved that the oil in the steering-box had indeed boiled away to nothing. It was a miracle that Phillips had kept it together for so long, and even Jordan had to appreciate that the LivEng driver was innocent of any supposedly dirty tactics.

Even so, the investigation had distracted the LivEng team and following qualifying the two drivers were languishing in 14th and 28th. The lack of set-up time had worked against. Bob Turner was all smiles, having outqualified his more highly touted team-mate, while Stoddard was a bundle of nerves. Turner almost towed him to his fastest lap but eleventh on the grid was satisfactory in the circumstances.

Dennis Wilson was the surprise of qualifying; the BennettF1 had been struggling throughout the season but the BF1s are really "hooked up" to the Casari circuit and both were high up. Given that Wilkins needs at least 6th place to have a chance at the drivers' title their speed could put a spanner in the LivEng works.

However, on the constructors' side, the 5 point gap to the TCRs is looking mightily tiny. Both cars are ahead of Turner and looking good for a win, which makes the Stellars very much second favourites. Perhaps the attention to Stoddard as he pitches for the drivers' title has distracted the team too much?

Wilkins, Daniels celebrate unexpected comeback from poor qualifying
Troy Wilkins and Mike Daniels finished 3-1 at Ashford National in Casari to mark an unexpected comeback from a poor qualifying session for the team. Daniels, who had qualified last in 28th, pitted only once - on lap 32 - for fuel, powering up the grid while teammate Wilkins took a risky four-stop strategy - taking on less than 6 seconds of fuel each time - to get him up the grid onto the last podium spot.

The good finish also ensured that the team gained enough points to secure the team championship by a clear ten points from Team Wentland, who Daniels and Wilkins give full credit to. "They made us push harder," Daniels reportedly told press, "I knew for the team to have any chance of winning - and for Troy to take the championship over Stoddard - we'd need to push. They motivated us." Wilkins agreed, adding that "without the fact that Stoddard was leading me [in the driver's standings] coming into this race, I probably would not have risked it with the four-stop plan."
