On the Wire- Cadamyn-Nujala Capital.
After nearly five years of bloody civil war the country of Nujala is finally at peace. Yesterday the Holy Chancellor and his Priestly Parliament surrendered their powers to the General Batula and his Loyalist Army. The General had the government heads place under arrest and in a public statement made by his press secretary promised that he would not have them executed. He also called a national cease fire and ushered in a new peace for his people.
The Civil War began when Holy Chancellor Mendu took control of the government after a very controversial election. Allegations of voting fraud and strong arming were rampant, the people were outraged. The government changed from a republic to a theocracy based dictatorship. Religious prosecution was soon followed by self proclaimed Holy Warriors where nothing but thugs and death squads under Mendu’s control.
Batula was a high ranking general of Nujala’s army who took those loyal to him and escaped into the barren wastes. He then started a civil war rallying the people to rise up against their oppressors. After five long years and nearly one hundred thousand people killed it looks like Batula has won the day.
Batula has returned the government back to its traditional republic state. After the arrest of the Chancellor he declared the old government defeated and installed a new government called The Armed Republic of Nujala. He has appointed a new cabinet out of members of his military and they will run the country until elections are held for the twelve senatorial seats.
What has Batula saved? The country has never been a prosperous one. The chief export of cattle has seen is share of famine and drought in the past ten years and the civil war all but stopped export to other nations. Medical Care is almost unheard of in the poorer area’s of the nation and education is at it’s lowest since the country was founded.
General Batula has a strong optimism that his country will overcome such trials. At the end of his speech read by the Press Secretary, Batula said “It is a long road ahead, but we as a nation will band together and help in the rebuilding process. Nujalans are a strong people and have faced many adversities. This is no different we will over come this. Destiny not God makes us strong”
