Methods of Identity [Mercury]

D-na Apollo

OOC: Noting the lack of activity on the Mercury Boards, I figured it would be more appropriate for me to post on Jolt for said stuff to actually be noticed by my various peers, given its relevance to some stuff I might be doing soon.

D-na Apollo, Quadrant A. Location: The Planet Mercury.

Elektra, whom had been in safe control of the D-na Apollo Colonial Settlement for some time, paced about the room deep in thought. And despite the billions upon billions of calculations being made every second by her various macro-processors and digital equipment, her organic form still seemed to concentrate heavily. For a semi-sentient being, with it's conciousness having the abililty to be broadcasted into this CHON avatar; she certainly seemed completely human. She laughed, she cried, and most of all she lived. And as was the average Austarian back on the homeworld, within the Nationalist Union itself; she was just as a living creature as they. Her mind made of microchips and various modes of computer equipment however, it only made her more capable for the role which she had taken, oh so many years ago.
< Elekt100.4.2b > We have lived and outlived regimes from back in the homeworld, and still a real sense of stablity and order resides within this settlement.

< TrueGovernance.01 > It has been interesting hasnt it? The world changes around us, yet for some reason some things are always constant. You, I, were never stop being. And considering the present non-tense situation on Mercury, I find it hard to imagine even that changing.

* Elekt001.4.2b nods.

< Elekt00.1.4.2b > I admire the Milano administration for what they have done, really. They have brought order and respectablity back into the Austar Union, our original home; and have done great things to facilitate the National Vision. But I fear that having lived before and through all this, that I find some degree of distance forming between D-na and the AU Prime forming.

< TrueGovernance.01 > What do you mean; distance between D-na and the AU? Are you speaking of succession?

< Elekt00.1.4.2b > Of course not! The Union has been good to us. Even, if it were not for the governments of past and present we would not be here today, existing. But I am speaking of a different kind of relationship.

* TrueGovernance.01 arches a brow.

< Elekt00.1.4.2b > Nevermind TrueGovernance.01. Im sure that you will understand in good timing. In the meantime, I have some things to organize, and possibally some things to consider. Have faith, brother.
It was soon after this conversation, that Elektra was quick to her work.

Austar Union

New Berlin, the Nationalist Union of Austar Union. Location: Europe, the Planet Earth.

"I would most probably expect Generals," finalized the Kanzer. "That by the end of this project we would have established some new permanant facilities through-out various points of Sol." He chuckled. "It seems that my predecessor has been lazy in this, and should something have happened I think it would have been his ulimate downfall."

"Hah!" sniggered one of his Generals. "And I thought his downfall was at the hands of civillians. Pathetic."

Soft chuckling ensured, and Wolfgang was quick to close the meeting. "Anyways, I am sure that all of us gentlemen here have a rough understanding of whats to come over the next months and years. We dont have any real opponents to the Nationalist Union yet, but I'd rather be prepared for if and when we do." He stood to his feet. "Dismissed."

Each of them standing and saluting their senior, the men known as " Milano's Generals " quickly made their leave. Wolfgang was a busy man, and time was precious. And although the most powerful men in the Austar Union had gathered within this expanded office, time was money, as they say. Thus, each of them bid and made their goodbyes leaving the Kanzer back to his work. Making note in the meantime to circulate a memo to each of them, he leaned back into his luxury seat and palmed his hands finger to finger. It wasnt long before however, that this small break was disturbed. On the massive screen before him a message popped up. He recieved thousands of them per day, most of which were filtered out by the various software installed on the Central Government's own server. And only a few of the remaining that made it through were flagged important enough to come up as a prompt. It was a message from Elektra.

"Hmph," was his only response upon reading it. And he was soon to formulate a reply. It was indeed important to address her, but certainly not a priority. As Kanzer, he had " other things " to worry about.

" Speak to you soon "

It was small, but it was all he could muster; for now.

Wind blowing gently through Elektra's soft blonde hair, she turned her face toward its oncoming direction and closed her eyes; adhering to the calming feeling. Beneath her, her palms stable her on the white sand that covers this long beach, and a relaxing and gentle rise of water only just laps at her barefoot-revealed toes. She breathed deeply, and reopened her eyes; only to realize that an onsetting thunderstorm was gathering in the distance, rain and lightning only visible as close as the horizon.

"You seem to be enjoying the setting," spoke a male voice, interrupting the peacefulness. "I thought you might like it."

"Is this what Earth is really like?" Elektra didnt bother to turn to face her intruder.

The man came and sat cross legged next to her, chuckling softly. "On a good day, perhaps." Wolfgang Milano, he was. And Elektra v2.0 was she. It was obviously a meeting of some significance, for they did not come often. "But, we all can dream."

There was a long pause before Elektra decided to kickstart the actual meaning of this meeting between them. "Do you know why I'm here today?"

"I have some idea," replied Wolfgang dilligently. "But, please... go on."

Elektra pulled her lips into a sort of smile. "We both know where we stand, and where D-na fits into this all. I think mostly however, we need to just state where things will be in the future. Obviously you have your expectations, and I have my own." She paused. "Do you feel that there are any particulars you would like to address first?"

Wolfgang nodded, also being quick to start business as usual. "Defense, by some extension. D-na has proven in the past to be vital in the importance of the Union's non Earth possessions. And certainly valid via means of relational movement. I would hope still, that D-na would be willing to support said means of infrustructure, or at least allow us time to build a various amount of secondary facilities. I dont mind, either way." He nodded, noticing Elektra's face change in some concern. "But of course, in return D-na will be offered the status of Protectorate by the Nationalist Union; so long as you are willing to sort out some defense mechanisms of your own."

"That sounds fine to me," noted Elektra, of whom had been listening cautiously. "Independance, with some degree of helpfulness. I think its not too hard a request for us to provide space for you to build your own bases on Mercury." She giggled. "We have more than enough land."

"And mining, also," noted Wolfgang quickly. "I only ask that we are able to continue current mining operations, with repect to your own soveriegnty of course. If they require permits, then we are more than happy to comply."

The E.I. nodded again. "Again, this is a reasonable request. Is there anything further?"

"Only the details my lady-friend!" joked Wolfgang, continuing the conversation henceforth. "We dont ask for much, just only a couple of reasonably specific things. What do you plan to do about the current ensign in the top left of the D-na Apollo flag?"

"Keep it," Elektra was quick to answer. "Its a part of our heritage, if nothing else. Representation of this colony's history, and respecting the people and events involved." She flashed Wolfgang a smile. "You Austrians have been most helpful."

Indeed, it seemed as if this was a period of great change for them both. And meeting together today within the false generated environment was not only significant, but it was history-making. From what had been a colony of the Austar Union, beneath its direct jurisdiction with regards to any decisions and actions made; it seemed that the powers of D-na were finally gaining much more of a sense of true autonomy. Elektra up until now had done a good job, and both sides were confident she would continue to do so in the future. But in the hindsight of both the Austarian period of anarchy, and upon watching the rise of a new government at home, she felt less inclined to consider said government her superior, nor the homeland at all having any particular jurisdiction here, She had run the colony well, and through times of instability had remained a rock. And through this time, she had gained new dreams.

> As much as an E.I. could dream.

In the meantime, the conversation would go on for hours before it ended. Between the two equals-to-be, it seemed that they still had a fair amount to do before actually making a shift to self-governance. No longer would D-na be an extensional arm of the Austar Union. But it would become free and independant, its only links to the Union being voluntary. It was onbly unfortunate however, that there was so much work to be done, and preparations to be made before it was legal and official. Treaties, drafted agreements et cetera. Ah, a leaders work was never done.

> Bloody paperwork.

ooc: Apologies about Mercury forums. Conflicting schedules and all, I guess.

Oh, and, Elijah will certainly be willing to help out D'Na, of course.

OOC: Yay!

After many months of preparation and organization, and had been decided that now as the time to make it official. Now was the time to set D-na, free. Elektra was proud.

Joint Release from the D-na Apollo and Austar Union Governments, Respectively." Defense and Security " ... " Pride, Vision, and Succession "

A defining moment of time, comes every single day. Every single day, an opportune moment comes to further one's goals, change one's destiny. And every single moment defines one's of these. His destiny by at large, is for one thing a place to set aside himself into the world of history. Time always passes, but certain individuals are never forgotten. And to be never forgotten, should certainly be the goal of every man, women, and semi-sentient machine. This for one, is one of these moments. Therefore, this message of official notice should be considered a motion of independance. It has been decided between Kanzer Wolfgang Milano of the Nationalist Union of Austar Union, and Elektra of the Protectorate of D-na Apollo, on this day of the $th of the $th of the Year $$$$, to set D-na Apollo as an independant nation and not directly linked to the Austar Union via means of chain of command.

The Protectorate of D-na Apollo, for military purposes will for now remain a protectorate of the Nationalist Union of Austar Union, but will not remain subserviant of, that entity and its respective governance.

Signed,

Kanzer Wolfgang Milano

Elijah read the transmition and couldn't help but chuckle a little, "Seems Elektra has taken a similar path to mine. Should make things interesting." He wasn't one for grand public declarations, so he simply sent a note to his neighbor.

Congratulations on your newfound sovereignty! I must say that, while I expected this might happen at some point, I'm glad to hear that it was a mutual decision between you and the new government earth-side.

As you can imagine, I have some experience with being in such a situation. If you have any questions or needs, please don't hesitate to ask. Even with your new status, I'd like to think that our relationship won't change in the slightest.

Should the true core of Elektra have been human, she would have expressed the recieved transmission from Elijah with a pleasant smile. It was so good to hear from old friends again, and since she had almost closed D-na off from the known foriegn world -- (it being a standard procedure since what had happened); she hadnt seen much of anyone. And his offer for help was well recieved. In fact, perhaps there was something he might have been able to offer.

I was so glad to hear from you once again, old friend. Much time has passed, and indeed there might be a few things you might be able to help me with. Might I be able to visit you again, and discuss the times that have passed?

(Oh, and thankyou for the warm wishes! =D ).

Of course you can visit. Quite a bit has happened, to be sure, but I'm not one to turn my back on friends and allies. You're always welcome to visit, and I look forward to seeing you again.
