World Cup 27 - Roster Thread

Bedistan
28-02-2006, 18:56
This thread, as the title would suggest, is for posting of rosters, i.e. lists of people playing for your nation in World Cup 27 qualifying (and beyond, possibly).

As in World Cup 26, we will again be using style modifiers. The allowable range is -5 (most defensive) to +5 (most attacking), with 0 being neutral. Please post your style modifiers along with your rosters here. If no style modifier is provided, your team will default to 0. Also note that no requests for modifiers outside the -5 to +5 range will be entertained; should you choose one outside that range, it will be truncated to the closest allowable value. No style modifier is inherently "better" than any other - a higher value will cause your team to score more goals, but will also cause it to allow more goals. Note that in a match, the style modifiers are additive - a +5 and a -5 playing each other will cancel out, while two +5s playing each other will combine for a total +10 for that match, likely causing quite a large number of goals.

It is also customary (though not required) to include this list of things that other players may or may not do when RPing matches against your team. Generally, when the list is not posted, the answers to all of these questions are assumed to be "yes".

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers Y/N
Godmod Scoring Events Y/N
RP injuries to my players Y/N
Godmod injuries to my players Y/N
Hand out Yellow cards to my players Y/N
Hand out Red cards to my players Y/N
Godmod Other Events Y/N

All right, that's enough administrative gobbledegook. Post away!

lineup 3-4-3
style modifier (-3)

Some changes from the BoF squad has been made. Most notably the addition of more reserves. Coach O’Meara felt his main people wore down after the first week with a lack of subs available for substitutions which may have had a part in the loss to the Green Wombats. Also Mark Jefferson has been cut from the team and his starting role replaced by Camden Alexander. Based on the play of his keepers in the BoF O’Meara feels there is no need for a third keeper as there were only two games the entire tournament not counting the Kyle Cartman memorial game where a goal was allowed. Coach O’Meara has said he’s learned from his mistake trying to change the team style for the Green Wombats game and that he will let the team do what it does best. And that’s play good defense and keep the other team off the scoreboard.

G- Amy Whiteworth (24-reserve) A surprise addition to the team Whiteworth took on all comers in the goalkeeper tryouts and took them down one by one. Even goalkeeping legend Vladimar Malloy needed a tiebreaker shootout round to narrowly claim the starter's role over the fiesty Whiteworth who was overwhelmed with joy when she learned she would be on the national squad. She gave up 1 goal in two starts during the BoF

G- Vladimar Malloy (26-starter) the man known as "The Wall" for his ability to seemingly block everything sent his way was the favorite going into the trials and despite a gutsy effort from Whiteworth held on in the final head to head shootout to take the starting job. he gave up 4 goals in 6 games during the BoF with 4 shutouts.

F- Jay Masterson (23-starter) the flashy flamboyant Masterson was the league's goal scoring leader for the second straight year. His leading man looks and swagger on the field has led to a rumored soda endorsement deal depending on his efforts on the national scene. Masterson puts the "tack" in attack on the field and is always looking for a chance to put the ball on net. He was Tynelia’s top scorer in the BoF with 4 goals and 1 assist

F- Brian Kenders (22-starter) a teamamte of Masterson, Kenders led the league in assists this season but only managed one goal of his own. Some say this is because of a lack of killer instinct but others claim he's complimenting Masterson perfectly. Kenders is one of the best ballhandlers and passers in the league. He led the team with 3 assists in the BoF.

F- Troy Wallace (27-starter) Wallace is a veteran of ten years in the game at some level and is known in the league for his trickery. He always manages to find the seam in an opponnent's defense and takes advantage of that when the defense over responds to a fake attack which usually leaves a teammate wide open. Masterson was said to be thrilled to hear the "Duke of Deke" was going to be on his line. In BoF play he put up an even line of 2 goals and 2 assists.

F-Adam Billington (32- reserve) The oldest member of the team Billington is the man opponnents fear to see step onto the field late in the game. While unable to maintain the pace needed to last an entire game, the man known as the "Sniper" is deadly when a team needs a goal late. Without the need to pace himself for a long stretch Billington is always on the attack and ready to shoot. Despite limited playing time the "Sniper" was tied for fourth in goals this season and added one in the BoF

F- Lynn Evans (25- reserve) Just missing out on the BoF due to a strained calf muscle, Evans is ready for action on the expanded roster for the WC. A good ball handler, Evans finished in the top ten in assists during league play and might have made the top five if not for the injury which sidelined for five games. She also led all women in goals in league play this season despite her missed time.

M- Camden Alexander (29-starter) Alexander is a good ball handler and passer and also an above average defender. After playing well coming off the bench in the BoF, Alexander was given the starting job for the WC in part because of Coach O'Meara's recommitment to defense for this tournament.

M- Brad Collins (25-stater) a quiet introspective fellow off the field, he is intense on it. Very aggressive, Collins is sometimes caught out of position because of it. he always tries to push the ball upfield rather than pass it back to let his team organize as he thinks this just lets the other team do the same. He recieved Tynelia's lone yellow card of the BoF but also scored a goal as well.

M- Jeff Leason (22-starter) The anti-Collins, Leason is willing to sacrifce some scoring in order to stay back and help out defensively. Coach O'Meara claimed that when choosing Leason "Between him and Collins we'll have two normal midfielders." Leason is known to sacrifice his body to make a play is is usally seen after the game dirty and bleeding from some small cuts.

M- Adrian Pytte (27-starter) The league MVP in a narrow vote over Masterson, Pytte missed his second double crown by two goals as he finished second to Masterson in scoring and by one assist to Kenders. The so-called general on the field is well organized and always looks to take advantage of his teammates strengths. Pytte was the only other multipoint scorer with two goals and an assist during the BoF.

M- Andy Martins (20-reserve) a controversial choice the President's grandson was seen by many as a crass political ploy or cheap propaganda when his name was announced to the team. Martins is a solid all round player but lacks excellence in any particular one. Defending his choice Coach O'Meara said "In this game specialists are fine but if someone gets hurt you want someone out there who can do the job. And if you don't know who's getting hurt then you take the guy who can cover the most areas instead of some shooter trying to replace a defensive specialist." he chipped in with an assist during the BoF

M- Bret Brantley (26-reserve) In an effort to keep some offense available late, Brantley was given the nod after being tied for 7th in total points this season. More of a scorer than a passer, Brantley can adapt to whichever style is needed and was a teammate of Jeff Leason during league play. He has also played some forward during league play.

M- Donna Kent (22-reserve) Another defensive minded player who lead the league with an impressive +8 edge in the team goals scored/allowed category when she was on the field. Seldom a presence on offense, Kent is always watching out for the breakaway and is uncanny in her ability to sniff one out even before the play develops. Some have said she might be better suited to move to defense with her mindset but given her speed and athleticism her coach prefers to give her the whole field to work with.

D- John Stossels (25-starter) Stossels is living proof of having "soccer in your blood". Both his parents and his grandfather were all soccer players in their day though national leagues weren't around then. As such Stossels was almost raised on a soccer field and is almost never found out of position or caught off guard. Stossels is the league Defender of the Year and with his teammate "the Wall" led his team to a record lowest goals against average in league history.

D- Karl Jacobs (24-starter) Jacobs is a good ballhandler and usually the one to bring the ball upfield after his team gains posession. He is another one who will give up his body to knock a shot away. Jacobs missed part of the early season with a hamstring injury but is 100% now.

D-Tal Li (19-starter) the youngest member of the team, Li is considered by many to be the heir apparent to Stossels' title as best defender. Rather than turn away from the compettion, Stossels has become a mentor of sorts to the younger player and Li's developmant on defense has improved greatly. Li is by far the fastest man on the team and it is rare to see someone get behind him and stay behind him for any length of time.

D- Sal Prath (28-reserve) the tallest man on the team at 6'6" Prath was sought out by many universities to join their basketball teams, but Prath instead turned to soccer. An excellent defender, Prath is a nightmare for corner kickers who must alter their shots to account for Prath's height or risk him heading it away from the shorter offensive squad. Prath has turned this knack into an art form and has turned many beautiful headers into a breakway pass to one of his forwards or midfielders.

D- Reggie Moore- (27- reserve) a good angle defenseman, Moore is excellent at forcing the opponents to stay along the perimeter and take bad angle shots. He has fast feet and can steal a ball from a dribbling opponent in a flash and start it up the other way. He led the league in steals this season.

OOC:
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers - Y
Godmod Scoring Events - Y
RP minor injuries to my players (Miss the rest of the current game, but no further games) - Y
Godmod/RP major injuries to my players - N
Hand out Yellow cards to my players - Y
Hand out Red cards to my players - N
Hand out red cards to Alicia Ribald, Luke Ford, Manuel Cortes or Sandy Thorpe - Y
Godmod Other Events Y

Haraki will be adopting a 3-5-2 strategy for the World Cup, as we did for the Baptism of Fire, with a -1 playing modifier and the following starting lineup:

Forwards
Mike Zendar – Forward, Captain, national superstar – Kiros Tigers FC
A national hero and all-round great player, he has the best kick in all of Haraki. With a total of six goals in the Baptism of Fire, he scored twice as many as any other Harakian player. He’s a great leader and a superb offensive player, which is why he gets to be captain of the team.
Samuel Sharp – Forward – North Susa FC
Another great forward, he scored only two goals in the Baptism of Fire but got a great deal more assists. A very young player compared to some of the others, he still has a good deal of experience playing for the North Susa football club, of which he is a veteran of four years.
(R) Zachary Burns – Forward – Atherlon United Football Club
The oldest player on the team, he is one of the only four veterans of previous world cups. He saw no action in the Baptism of Fire, but is good at keeping morale high and giving pep talks. When it comes to scoring, he’s not as good as he once was.
(R) Alicia Ribald – Forward – Arkia Serpents FC
One of the two Ribald sisters, who have taken Harakian football by storm. The older of the two, she is an aggressive offensive player who can handle the ball past anyone in Haraki club play. With a fierce sense of national pride, many have speculated that, had Haraki taken a standard 3-4-3 setup, she would have been the third forward.

Centres
Thomas Neils – Centre – North Susa FC
One of the older players on the team, Neils is an excellent team player. His passing is second to none, allowing him to drop the ball wherever it needs to be at the drop of a hat. He is also an excellent shooter, with two goals in the Baptism of Fire. He is the captain of Haraki’s North Susa football club.
Samantha Ribald – Centre – Arkia Serpents FC
The second and youngest of the Ribald sisters, she is not quite as aggressive as her sister, but still a dangerous opponent. She only managed one goal in the Baptism of Fire, as she was injured in the game versus New Preussen and had to sit out the rest of qualifying.
Lawrence Foster – Centre – Viusa Centre FC
A slow but steady supporting player, he is a very large man. With close to ten years in Haraki club play, he’s never been a star player, but is always the anchor of the team, supporting offensive and defensive plays equally. He makes an excellent all-round player, and while not the fastest runner on the team, makes up for it in bulk.
Luke Ford – Centre – Arkia Serpents FC
Another player whose role on the team is similar to Foster’s, there are still numerous differences between their styles. Ford is smaller, faster and more of an enforcer for the team. He is in the top three players in the Haraki Football League (HFL) for penalties, and while not a great scorer, can still pull off some good shots, and a lot of good passes.
Manuel Cortes – Centre – Atherlon United Football Club
A surprisingly aggressive player, he stands only 5’9” tall and under 150 pounds, but makes up for it with a dangerous attitude. He’s leading the Haraki league for penalties against, because he’s very good at riling up opposing players, mainly because he’s so damn cocky. His playing style is loose and uncontrolled, but also raw and primal, and surprisingly effective. He got three goals in two games during the Baptism of Fire.
(R) Archie Wilkes – Centre – Kiros Tigers FC
A massive man, standing two metres tall (6’6”) and almost 300 pounds, he’s simply impossible to injure. This makes him another enforcer for the team, along with Ford, and an excellent defensive and supporting midfield. He has superb passing and a powerful shot, although he tends to run too slowly to actually get to use it very often. Filled in for an injured Samantha Ribald during the Baptism of Fire for several games.
(R) Julie Vern – Centre – Arkia Serpents FC
A young woman, whose parents were immigrants to Haraki. She grew up in the port city of Arkia, playing football with herself on the streets. As such, she is the best ball handler on the entire team, and can run faster than any other player on the Haraki Hawks while maintaining control of the ball. She saw no action during the Baptism of Fire, but it is expected Vargas will bring her on when facing a team that is exceptionally good at ball possession.
(R) Allison Keyes – Centre – Uses Coast FC
An ardent feminist and fast offensive midfield, Allison Keyes is a strong all-round player, although mostly on the offence. She’s been playing for the Uses Coast football club for five years even after getting a four-year degree from the University of Kiros, granting her a certain veteran’s right on and off the field.
(R) Catherine Veritas Ezaniea – Centre – Caltis Football Club
The highlight of the Caltis Football Club, widely regarded as the worst big-city team in Haraki. She scores most of their goals and prevents more goals from being scored than the goalkeeper does. Unsurprisingly, she is the only play on the Hawks representing Caltis FC.

Defencemen
Bruce Forrester – Defence – Isasi Warriors FC
Surprisingly nimble for a man of his size, Forrester dominates the right side of Haraki’s end. Very few can get the ball past him, and he manages to be fast, big and in control at all times. His main weakness is a self-imposed inhibition that he never takes the ball up past half, preferring to always pass to someone farther up and return to his comfortable defensive spot.
(R) Owen Peterson – Defence – Atherlon United Football Club
The second-oldest player on the team, he was regarded as one of the best players around in his youth, but has been gradually slipping. His leadership abilities remain intact, however, and he is the captain of the Atherlon United Football Club in Haraki. In the first Baptism of Fire game, he was removed due to an injured tendon in his right leg and replaced with Jonah Menike for the rest of the tournament. He decided of his own accord to bench himself for the Cup proper after seeing how well Menike performed.
Sandy Thorpe – Defence – Pethic-Ferria FC
A simple man from the Borderlands, the massive mountain range in the north of Haraki. Still speaks with a Borderland accent, and signed to the only football club in Haraki proud of the fact that they’re Haraki’s equivalent of hicks. Based out of Pethic and representing the entire massive province of Ferria – mostly deserts and mountains – Thorpe is the embodiment of the Pethic-Ferria football club. Big, relatively slow, but impossible to stop once he gets moving. A dangerous opponent with a powerful, if somewhat inaccurate, kick.
Jonah Menike – Defence – Kiros Tigers FC
Plays on the same team as Haraki superstar Mike Zendar, and was originally slated as a reservist for the tournament. He was brought in after Peterson was injured in the first BoF game, and in numerous games was single-handedly responsible for keeping the ball out of the Harakian end. Fast, nimble, and with a quick and powerful kick, he even scored a goal in the Baptism of Fire. Haraki’s best defenceman. He even scored a goal in the BoF.
(R) Nathan Rogers – Defence – Uses Coast FC
An all-round good player. He excels at nothing but is good at everything, and got Haraki’s last reserve spot for defence. Not expected to see much play.

Goalkeepers
Mark Stone – Goalkeeper – North Susa FC
The HFL’s best goaltender, far and away. Just in the time he has been in the HFL for the North Susa club, he has taken them to three final games and won two of them. He allowed only two goals past him in the entire Baptism of Fire, and both were after a very cheap attack in a game versus Imperial Moose. Expected to perform just as well, if not better, in the actual Cup.
(R) Susana Hamilton – Goalkeeper – Arkia Serpents FC
Another good footballer to come out of the streets of the port city of Arkia, where poverty levels have risen so dramatically over the last thirty years that she came from the exact same background as reserve midfield Juile Vern. Played only one game in the BoF, versus Imperial Moose, after Stone was incapacitated in a red card-worthy attack, and allowed only one goal past her against a fierce defence.
(R) Bobbie Morris – Goalkeeper – Atherlon United Football Club
Goalkeeper for Atherlon United, he’s a decent enough keeper, but nothing phenomenal. Definitely worth keeping an eye on, but only if both others are incapacitated. Maybe if Mark Stone retired early or if Morris got a lot better over the next four years he might secure a primary reservist or even a starter spot.

Coach
Lloyd Vargas - Coach - North Susa FC
Once a star player for the North Susa football club, which has historically been one of the best teams in the country, he retired at age thirty-six and has been coaching North Susa ever since. He’s taken them to three championship games and two victories in the five years he’s been coaching them, and now has been appointed the head coach for the Haraki Hawks. He will probably keep on coaching the national team until he retires from coaching as well, which is a long way in the future.

[[OOC: Style Modifier: +3]]

"We'll be using a 2-1-3-2-2 'X' formation all through World Cup 27," said Manni Aka when asked what formation the team will take.

A reporter held up a printed copy of the roster. "Sir, it looks like the same from World Cup 26, save retired players Mike Sweeny and Mozzarella Munster being absent and the formation being changed."

"You should see that we've added two new players, Cort Izzone and Mohr Ganfreeman."

"Sir, it still looks the same."

"I don't know what you're talking about -- we've changed a lot of things."

"Ah. Whatever you say, Coach."

The Coach, in an effort to persuade the reporter that the roster had changed, tore down all of the names from the poster which displayed the starting lineup, and placed them at random. After seeing what a mess this was, with goalkeeper Jim Johnson playing forward, he decided to go back to his old lineup. Then he realized how silly this was, and made some minor changes.

"SATISFIED??!?" he growled at the reporter.

"Um, I guess."

"You better be tellin' the truth."

The roster of the Kazoo Peoples
Coach: Manni Aka (47). Second year coaching the national team. Last year's World Cup 26 squad took home a berth in the Group stage of the Finals.
[B]# Name (Age, Team)
Goalkeepers
1 Jim Johnson (20, Untitled U-Boats)
::One of the four Johnson brothers on the national squad. Stellar goalkeeper, stopped an insane amount of shots last year.
CONTRACT TERMINATED:2 Robert Barker (19, Untitled Understudies)
::Spends his off-time as a local game show host. Fired after abysmal performance when backing up Jim Johnson.
11 Kevlar Shafur (20, Untitled U-Boats)
:: Can stop a bullet from his opponents. Though starting defender, it should be noted that Shafur also backs up for Johnson when he is injured.
Defenders
4 Dirk Smirkley (18, Monte Carlico Matadors)
::Model turned soccer player, his dazzling smile can distract opponents. Far than dazzling play in World Cup 26 has him looking at World Cup 27 benchwarmer.
5 Scovest (22, Untitled U-Boats)
:: Known only by his first name, his recent cologne commercials (Hott Scovest) made him an instant celebrity.
7 Jack Johnson (24, Untitled U-Boats)
:: The second of the four Johnson brothers on the national team. Most likely the least known of the four, his lack of talent may have him sitting on the bench.
Midfielders
12 Bob Untitled (19, Untitled Understudies)
:: Aspires to be great midfielder when he reaches his prime.
13 Mark Perknowleski (30, Monte Carlico Matadors)
:: Easily the longest last name on the field. It barely fits on the shirt.
23 Mohr Ganfreeman (19, Untitled U-Boats)
:: His droning, booming, unique voice allows him to communicate effectively. People who hear his voice feel a surge of joy. "It's like eating pie." Better. "It's almost orgasmic," someone once said. That's going a bit far, but not that much, strangely.
16 Rudy Johnson (22, Untitled U-Boats)
:: The third of four Johnson brothers.
17 Melvin Hermville (24, Kazoo City Kazoos)
:: After writing years of sports fiction (best-seller Doby Mick), he brings his knowledge of the game to the field.
Forwards
18 Chadd Johnson (26, Untitled U-Boats)
:: The fourth of the Johnson brothers. Arguably, the best of them all.
19 Jonny Lampshade (19, Untitled U-Boats)
:: One of the few dark-skinned men on the team. "I like to sunbathe every other day. I mean, hour. What's wrong with that?
20 Jezze Stingray (30, Kazoo City Kazoos)
:: Having two "z"s in his name makes him cool. Real cool.
3 Ham Mertime (24, Untitled Understudies)
::Washed-Up Rapper/Singer/Songwriter, now a star soccer player. Didn't see much action in World Cup 26, but hopes to change that, as he moved from backup goalkeeper to backup forward.
22 Cort Izzone (27, Kazoo City Kazoos)
:: Multiple knee surgeries would have Cort play in intense pain, but due to a new bionic knee, knee pain is a thing of the past. Used to be a defenseman, but has changed to forward on account of his massive skill of his bionic knee.
The All-Arounds
10 Man I. Anka (26, Kazoo City Kazoos)
:: The all-around guy of the team. Doesn't have a set position.
6 Aaron Slazeb (31, Kazoo City Kazoos)
:: One of the older members of the team, but his experience helps guide the team, even though he doesn't play too often. When he does play, it's only because Coach doesn't want to trek to the other end of the bench to get another player.
9 Cha Cha Cha (28, Monte Carlico Matadors)
:: In the off-season, he spends his time as a dance instructor. It follows that he dances past his opponents.

Milchama roster announced

Based on the success of this roster breaking at two consecutive tournaments Coach Jamie Smith starts his second world cup at the helm by having the exact same roster as the Cup of Harmony and the Dragonni Invitational tournaments. The only difference for him is that he will use a +3 style to go with his 3-3-4 instead of the usual +2.

GK: Clay Finton- AOCAF Starter. His great play in the AOCAF (two shutouts) knocked Marcos Ollins off the squad.
D: Silas Milckey- The rock at the back for the last two cups was put on the bench by the new coaching regime. Believes starters job was his and wants to get it back.
D: Kendric Pevington- Not flashy but a very good central defender. Does not have the speed to play wing back so is in the center again.
D: Mills Thompson- Tall and good in the air. His headers will help on both offense and defense.
M: Elana Kilinin- The breakout star of the last WC squad. She will again be relied upon to get a spark in the offense. Some good play and she might stick as a player.
M:Antoine Sanchez- AOCAF Starter. Great dribbler, good passer a perfect central midfielder. Put in the squad to try to connect the strikers with the defenders.
M: Darian Flinters- Very fast and a good shooter. Will be a major part of the offense. His wing play with Kilinin will be key for the Milchmian offense.
F: Dunston Copperlee (captain)- Best soccer player Milchama has ever produced so far. Will be expected to do everything. Had a dissapointing CoH and wants to show that he deserves to be captain.
F: Spot Nielson- With Thibault's more counter attacking approach to the 3-3-4 he wanted someone who was real good on the ball in central attack. Nielson fit the bill perfectly and is a starter because of it.
Marc J. Floren- Best Goalscorer in Milchamian history. All time leading goalscorer in MFL history and the leading goalscorer in both World Cup qualifying and the CoH for the Warriors. Will probably be his last world cup campaign and wants to go out actually getting to the main event.
F: J.J. Faren- A great crosser and a good goalscorer. Had a dissapointing WC campaign last time around but has proven himself to be a good player with his dazzling crosses.

Subs:
F: Floren Albentine- AOCAF starter. Great natural scorer. Called by many in Milchama the next Floren. Has a very bright future ahead of him. This cup's version of Spot Nielson, on the squad mostly for experience.
M: Johnny Rintell- Knocked out of starting lineup by new coaching staff. Wants to get his starting place back.
F: Matt Bantin- Another starter pushed to the bench because of the new coaching regime. Thinks he might be better than Floren if he got the chance and wants to show the world that he is.
M/F: Bobby Martin- His good play in the AOCL caused him to be the only sub called back from last cup. Wants to outperform teammate Clyde Misterson.
GK: Tuck Koolerc- Still the best goalie in Milchama but has been challenged by Clay Finton and wants to prove that he is still the best.
D: Kyoga Marcazumi- AOCAF starter. Normally a central defender but because of his mobility was moved to wing back for the WC. Plays for Great Alexandria.

The reserves are the same as last cup and we're to lazy to show you them.

Deadbolt Sentinel - Sports
Minutemen World Cup squad announced

With the domestic season in its last week, coach Nate Webb has chosen today to announce the McPsychoville Minutemen roster who will be travelling to the World Cup, and it is not without surprise. The self-proclaimed 'Master of the Free Kick' Michel Lysiak, captain Damon Arnaud and current top scorer Wade Matvichuk - who is himself coming off the back of a fantastic season with Tanguay Rovers - all make their returns, but Webb has taken the brave step of granting places to three under-eighteens.

Of these, it is Eric Mattson who has attracted the most attention - despite Port Alberni doing fairly badly, Mattson himself was second in voting for the league's Most Valuable Player, losing out to team-mate Brandon Silver. His spot on the right wing looks to be fairly secure, though sixteen-year-old Tina Matera begs to differ.

That said, Webb's choices have gained him some criticism; of note, his decision to leave Robbie Bacon from the squad was met with incredulity; Bacon himself questioned the decision in an interview on MBN Radio Two. A naturalised striker, Bacon's haul of thirty-one goals last season was topped only by Matvichuk, with thirty-four.

A full roster is contained below.

Goalkeeper - Brandon Silver, 27, Carson City, #1

Left-back - Kelly ‘Kirby’ Marcos, 25, Port Alberni, #24
Centre-half - Chris Colton, 29, London FC, #3
Right-back - Damon Arnaud, 31, Carson City, #7

Left-wing - Chris Lindsey, 23, Deadbolt City, #16
Central midfielder - Michel Lysiak, 32, Royston Valley, #8
Holding/Defensive midfielder - Stephanie ‘Marvin’ Alexander, 25, Tanguay Rovers, #22
Attacking midfielder- Daniel Sabin, 24, Cednia, #11
Right-wing - Eric Mattson, 17, Port Alberni, #6

Striker - Damian Lee, 21, Royston Valley, #19
Striker - Wade Matvichuk, 28, Tanguay Rovers, #10

Substitutes:
Goalkeeper - Sean O’Shea, 22, Andrecht Argyle, #13
Centre-half - Mike Barton, 33, London FC, #4
Central midfielder - Danielle Santo, 24, Cednia, #17
Attacking midfielder - Dylan Summers, 29, Royston Valley, #5
Striker - Doug Chevalier, 31, London FC, #2

Reserves:
Goalkeeper - Eiji Misawa, 25, Port Alberni, #21
Left-back - John Rechner, 17, Tanguay Rovers, #12
Right-back - Scott Colton, 33, London FC, #18
Holding/defensive midfielder - Annie Connor, 27, Tanguay Rovers, #9
Central midfielder - Tom Cassie, 24, Andrecht Argyle, #23
Right-wing - Tina Matera, 16, Selanne United, #15
Left-wing - Alex Rizzono, 20, Cednia, #14
Striker - Chris Klucsaritis, 28, Port Alberni, #20

OOC: Uniform – The home kit consists of royal blue shirts and shorts, with white socks, while the change kit is a grey shirt with red trim, red shorts and grey and red striped socks. The third kit is a dark gold shirt, black shorts and gold socks, and if none of those work, the other bloody team can change!

Tactics – The Minutemen play offensive football first and foremost, subscribing to the Brazilian school of thought, and show this with their trademark 3-5-2 formation in which two wingers, usually Lindsey and Mattson can drop back to help the defence, push forward to give the strikers support or battle in the midfield.
A young team, the Minutemen sport six players newly promoted from the Under-21 side, four of whom will be starting the upcoming friendly against the Kegmenistan Inquisitors. However, the veteran presence is well and truly felt; captain Damon Arnaud returns, as does the legendary Scott Colton (even though it is his brother, Chris, who has been preferred in the defence). The style modifier is a +2.

And lastly - My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers Y - Obviously, try to have the strikers scoring the majority of the goals. Also, Lysiak takes both the free kicks and corners, while penalties are Damien Lee's duty.
Godmod Scoring Events Y - See above
RP injuries to my players Y

Hand out Red cards to my players Y - Any of the defenders are really good for this.

Audioslavia will play a 4-1-4-1 formation. This means we'll play with four defenders and four midfielders, with a player in the hole between them to help out the defence when pressured and to anchor the midfield during attacks. The lone striker is joined by the midfield when on the attack. We'll be using a -2 modifier.

The Valerian Boyars will utilize a 4-4-2 formation, and their playing style modifier would be at -2.

The Boyars will consist of the following lineup for the World Cup with their respective jersey numbers and clubs. They are new players, a fresh new roster from the previous world cups (obviously, since most of the old players have retired). They were all handpicked from the various clubs around the country.

As for uniforms, Magnus Valerius has opted to keep the old style and design that they had used for previous world cups, with the blue for Away and the red for home. Some fans demand a new issue of uniforms, but that request has gotten caught up in bureaucratic red tape, so it's likely that the next WC will use the same uniforms as well.

Mr Chuck Norris
01-03-2006, 03:54
Coming fresh off of a sour Baptism of Fire, the Fighting Norris are revved up for the 27th World Cup. Over the pas few months, they've established their team color as a solid blue and their team song as Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation. Coach Bob Janney has also recently submitted a lineup as seen below.

The Roster Of The Fighting Norris
# Name (Age)
Head Coach
Bob Janney
● Recently coming off a mediocre performance in the Baptism of Fire, he believes he can lead his team of rookies raging onto the World Cup scene.
Goalkeepers
1 Mr. Bednarik (26)
● Renowned throughout The Holy Republic of Mr Chuck Norris as the record holder for most saves ever by a goalkeeper in the sport of hockey. Performed exceptionally well in the Baptism of Fire, only allowing at most one goal in any game. He also managed to fend off the Baptism of Fire winners, Allied Anime Worlds, only allowing them to notch one goal against us.
2 Allen Price (23)
● He’s really good at football, at least the American kind.
3 Terri Tup (39)
● Frequently harassed not only because he has a woman’s name, but because he’s the oldest man on the team.
Defenders
4 ♪ (?)
● Found on the streets of downtown New Poorleans, ♪ can’t speak English and no one knows anything about him. Naturally, he was the first guy added to the squad.
5 Ido No (21)
● Soon after flunking out of ITT Tech’s VCR Repair program, he was recruited to the squad.
6 Banana Mann (26)
● He says “Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring, Banana Phone”, and nobody knows why.
7 Grode Miller (29)
● Most commonly known for his skiing abilities, which now seem falsified, he wanted to try something new.
8 Jack Moon (22)
● He frequents such places as “The Gold Fox”.
9 Scottest Hovest (24)
● The self proclaimed best Scott in the world.
Midfielders
10 Pat Smock (25)
● Easily the most known man in The Holy Empire of Mr Chuck Norris, known for appearances on AA Live, mass producing the 512 Disc DVD set “Mass and You” and attending random leadership conferences. His sole purpose for being on the team is to generate ticket sales.
11 Donald Rump (36)
● Responsible for supporting Mr Chuck Norris’ “Thriving” economy.
12 Chaz Woolery (32)
● Has hosted/appeared on every game show ever aired on Mr Chuck Norris’ cable television.
13 Zach Brickhouse (20)
● One of the few players on the team who actually have experience in football beyond the recent Baptism of Fire, he was one of Japan’s best midfielders until he was deported for skipping one day of school.
14 Yianni Karvo (22)
● Just to warn everyone now, Yianni plays dirty. He in fact plays so dirty that he was suspended for a good amount of the Baptism of Fire after he was caught intentionally beating several opponents into submission.
15 Randy Cross (29)
● Easily has the biggest afro of any player on any team.
16 Paper Mario (Paper Doesn’t Age)
● And you thought he was just a video game character. His weightlessness and aerodynamic form allow him to cover a great amount of the field, making him a deadly midfielder.
Forwards
17 Chuck Norris (Supercedes time and therefore has no age)
● Two Words: Roundhouse Kick.
18 OJ Pimpson (28)
● Let’s just say he’s got a deadly shot.
19 Jimmy Huffa (25)
● Although his whereabouts are still unknown, he will maintain his spot on the squad. Coach Bob Janney has previously told media outlets that Jimmy was kidnapped during the Baptism of Fire by the Mafia, he still hasn’t been found.
20 The Burger King (22)
● That’s right, you all know him. His dashing smile and uncanny speed make him a threat.
21 Rob Janney (21)
● He’s the coaches son who only acquired a spot on the squad because former Fighting Norris defender Baka Laka Daka Raka was declared ineligible to play.

Soon after posting the lineup, we asked Bob Janney to share his thoughts on the World Cup, he said:

“Well, considering how we didn’t meet expectations in the Baptism of Fire, we certainly aren’t setting the bar very high for this World Cup. All we want to do is jump up a few ranks. I suspect that with our lacking attack but above average defense, we may be able to pull off some draws.”

“But Mr. Janney, that doesn’t make any sense, you’ve admitted that your strategy is an all-out attack, why would you do that with a terrible offense?”

“I’m going with the all out attack because the manual says so.”

When asked what manual he was referring to he held up a copy of “Football for Dummies” and said:

“This and this alone will slowly bring us to World Cup success.”

Cataduanes

Cataduanes
The islanders will play in a 4-4-2 formation with a style mod of +1

Jose Manua (coach)(63)
A legend on the domestic league where he led Alcantara to 4 successive league titles and some 7 cup triumphs and was architect of Cataduanes qualification in there debut at the WC26.

1.Adolfo Mumbalo (Goalkeeper)(Ardar)(35)
The veteran keeper still first choice, calm-cool and collected.
12.Jose Sullop (Goalkeeper) (La Union)(27)
Talented young keeper still playing back up for Mumbalo.

2.Butch Tumitubo (Leftback Defender) (Minas)(32)
Butch by name, Butch by nature, the captain of the national side and for Minas in the domestic league. An efficient player and charismatic captain.
3.Francisco Mumbalo (Rightback Defender) (La Union)(29)
Seen as the successor to Tumitubo for the captaincy.
14.Jorge De Haro (Left/Right Center Back)(Atletico Coron Norte)(19)
Impressed since going professional two seasons ago with good technical ability with both feet, his performance’s for recently promoted Coron Norte have prompted his call up.
19.Alfonso Boqueron (Right Center Back)(Minas)(20)
Another impressive youngster that has been called up, tall and strong with a cultured playing manner.
4.Filipe Echevarria (Rightback/Center defender) (La Union)(24)
Solid defender with a combination of pace and strength, however lacks height.
15.Mattias Lopez Cerro (Left Back/Central Defender) (Alcantara)(23)
Noted for height and aerial ability, also highly combative with an on field temper to rival Andres Chavicano.

7.Alonso Corino (left midfield) (La Union)(32)
Star of La Union and acclaimed as the most technically accomplished of the Cataduanos, however the declining domestic fortunes of La Union have affected his form in recent seasons, many are hoping he can shake off the inconsistency and perform at the forthcoming world cup.
6.Marco Ruedas (right midfield) (Minas)(27)
The pin up of the east of the island where his club, Minas, draw their support. Since the last world cup he has led Minas to two league championships and became club captain. He has matured as a player and is successor to Corino in terms of technical ability.
5.Andres Chavicano (defensive midfielder) (Deportivo Corto)(33)
The enforcer, known for a penchant for hard tackling and off the ball incidents, has been ravaged with injury last season but still retains the ability to control the midfield.
16. Butch Lim (Central Midfielder) (Estrella Rojo)(18)
Young Midfielder in the mould of the recently retired Alomar, great range of passing combined with stunning workrate.
8.Toni Souletano (defensive midfielder)(Minas)(23)
After his brilliant form during the last world cup he left FC Sakhayos to join Minas where he has become a major player, easily the finest central midfielder on the island with an amazing work rate coupled with good technical abilities.
11.Maurizio Envigado (Central midfielder)(Ardar)(26)
A much travelled journeyman who has greatly impressed in the last two seasons playing for Sakhayos earning a call up, has since transferred clubs to Ardar.
17.Armando Ribera (Left winger/Central Midfielder) (Alcantara)(22)
Versatile and capable player.

14.Guillermo Bata (striker) (Villa Merida)(32)
Big experienced center forward, good in the air but lacks pace
9.Carlos Gaurin (Striker) (Alcantara)(26)
This youngster is the heart and soul of his club, small and nippy with terrific pace and skills who wowed the neutrals during the last WC.
10.Agustin Macalinao (striker) (Nacional)(34)
Left footed stiker with exceptional ball skills and pace, while injury prone he has played the best football of his career in the domestic league in the last two seasons since moving clubs, leaving San Fermin for Nacional, it is on the strength of his form that he has been recalled to serve his nation again.
18.Jose Mahabal (Striker) (Atletico Basuanga)(21)
Youngster called up after impressive debut season with Basuanga, noted for strength, height and pace. However lacks the skills of Guarin asnd Macalinao, more of a battering ram in comparison.

Since the last WC the following players have retired.
Francisco Mumbalo
Carlos Suramaga

Benidicto Villa
Innocente Balumaman

A NEW DAWN
Eric Tree reports

Remember World Cup 25? Not many Druidans do, thanks to the fact that they're mostly dead. Those that are still around will remember the success of hisisim during qualifying, but the devastation caused across the Druidish Lands made the emotional burden too much once the players reached the finals.

So hisisim lives on. The Druidan team on hisisimites, lead by Trefor "Elastic" Edwards, has done pretty well in the couple of AOCAF regional tournaments they've participated in.

But for those, they've come up against B-teams. Now it's the real thing. And they've recruited some players with World Cup experience.

We say experience. They were part of Druida's World Cup 25 squad. Now they're either ridiculously old or they didn't actually play back then in the first place.

Basically, what we have is a team that is put together from the squads from the AOCAFs and the World Cup 25 squad. Anyone with a star by their name was in Druida's last World Cup squad, and so is expected to be half-decent.

Sarzonia Stars

Coach: Dave Wilson (65). In his second tour of duty with the Sarzonian national team, Wilson is also pulling double duty as the chairman of the Incorporated Football Federation in an effort to rebuild the organisation after its tumultuous failings in World Cup XXVI. He has coached the team to the AOCAF championship and the Dragon Invitational in Andossa Se Mitrin Vega since his return.

Assistant Coach: Brett Hancock (41). A controversial choice when the obscure young coach was named to guide the second choice national team in AOCAF XI, he took the Stars to a surprising second place finish. He also made his mark on the AOCAF XII winning Stars team and guided the first choice side to a 2-0 record as the interim coach following the botched dismissal of Barry Owens.

Goalkeeping Coach: Horace Sandt (32). A strong candidate for the Hall of Fame, he replaced Troy Perkins as goalkeeper and exceeded his mentor. Now he’ll be charged with mentoring the next generation of goalkeepers.

ROSTER (starters in bold)

GOALKEEPERS

1 Roger Treadway (Rochester Raiders). A surprise starter who emerged when expected starter Harvey Cooley tore his ACL, Treadway made his mark in the NSFA Cup by helping lead the surprising Raiders into the fourth round. He’s still young (23), so he may have a long future ahead of him if he plays well.
28 Aaron Lee (Portland Timbers). Even though the Timbers drafted a young goalkeeper out of Joe Gibbs University to replace him, the 36-year-old Lee still led the league in games (31), clean sheets (11), and goals against average (1.06). Sandt was primarily responsible for his appearance on the national team.

DEFENDERS
3 Ridley Scott (New Jerusalem Nobles). At 24 years old, Scott is part of a new wave of young players that Wilson hopes will combat the team’s propensity for aging quickly and leaving no room for depth players. His heady play in training led him to win the job as left back outright.
12 Kenny Houlder (Saugerties Snakes): Although Holder is just 22 years old, he has become a steady contributor to the Snakes because of his fanatical study of his opponents and his constant work with his coaches to improve his game.
16 Mike Cole (Bristol Braves): Cole is a rugby standout as well as a footballer, having led the Sarzonia Galaxians to a surprise berth in the knockout rounds of the Rugby World Cup their first time out. At 28 years old, he is regularly considered the smartest player on the team.
8 Jeff Comstock (Nicksia Knights): After the Knights' surprise run through the NSFA Cup, Comstock signed a free agent contract with them. He brings speed and grit to the team. At 27 years old, he is now one of Sarzonia's many veteran.
19 Kurt Laughton (Bristol): Even though he's only 26 years old, he graduated from Joe Gibbs University at 19 following intense home schooling.

MIDFIELDERS
4 Henrik Bastale (Turoki Isle - Vilita): Has starred for Turoki Isle since his transfer from the Portland Timbers, being named Foreign Player of the Year in the Vilitan league. He has a lot of pure speed and ball control, but needs to learn to pace himself for 90 minutes. Just turned 26.
14 Jenna Raven (Woodstock Justice, women’s team): Previously under the radar after the abolishment of the Under 21 national side, Raven was the first player contacted by Owens after he was named the team’s head coach.
19 Jarret Sanderson (Woodstock Wild): Sanderson has come a long way from his days as the Junior Stars’ malcontent to become a star player for the Under 21 national side. Now 25 years old.
13 Calvin Olson (New Jerusalem): Olson is deadly accurate from up to 30 yards on free kicks with his right boot. For a skillful midfielder, he's surprisingly physical. This 31 year old has been suspended due to yellow card point accumulation three times last season[/i].
7 Nathan West (Dunkirk Devils): Just 19 years old, he was not expected to start for the Stars, but his uncanny ability to score on free kicks or headers off corners, plus his hard work and excellent study habits, essentially forced Wilson to insert him in the starting 11. As a result, the Stars will employ a 3-5-2 for the first time after years of playing a 4-4-2.
24 Landra Tennison (Woodstock Justice, women's team): She earned a spot in the starting 11 on the Stars for AOCAF VIII after an impressive tryout where she out-physicaled several men despite her 5 foot 6, 133 pound frame. At 31 years old, she’s become one of the old hands on a team that’s mostly become a youthful side.
6 Sterling Bridger (Richmond Rage): Taken on as Dave Wilson’s personal “pet project,” the 20 year old has wonderful potential but figuratively needs to grow up. Wilson intends to bring him along slowly, inserting him into matches only if necessary.
17 Ettore Salivani (New Jerusalem Nobles): This 32 year old spent some time as the captain of the AOCAF finalist Sarzonia side until his outburst against Starblaydia cost him the armband. He's being given a chance to prove himself as a team player by serving as a depth player at this level.

FORWARDS
19 Kenny Cooper (Tacoma Tigers): Now 28, he is the all-time leading goal scorer for the U21 national team. He's still trying to put it all together at the senior World Cup level and gets one last chance as the target forward.
20 Kevin Wilson (Joe Gibbs University) Team captain: The younger son of former Stars Coach Dave Wilson and the younger brother of former team captain Brian, Kevin shares his brother's instincts on the pitch and may be even more of a heartthrob than his older brother. At 27 years old, he now gets the chance to set his own mark.
15 Roy Spencer (Grappenhall United, Bettia): The 25 year old Spencer made an impression in the 10th AOCAF tournament, signing with Grappenhall United, He has earned a spot on the squad.
16 Brian Williams, 22 (Partisan Drizza, Hypocria): A star for the AOCAF XII winners and AOCAF XI runners up, the 6'3, 195 pounds Williams has earned a spot on the senior national team squad.

Team Colours

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c58/Krytenia/CUA.png
Goalie Home: All Black, even the cap
Goalie Away: Imperial Purple all over

Stadium

Southern Island Peaks

An all seater modern stadium, retractable roof, special look is the old clock on the West bank. Capacity of 40,000, seats the colour of the national team. On the hot southern island ruled by General Jared, brother of the ruler Jude to gain him goodwill, the heat and sudden rain can be off putting. Beside a rushing river, quite a few ball boys have never returned from going in the river which is called "Catincoa death."

Manager

Jude Takerath-21-Manager: Passionate, he can often be seen on the sidelines trying to rally the team. A clever man, he knows how to manipulate the media but lacks the man management skills to rally the team in dark times. Otherwise a recluse, his glasses only add to his scholarly look. When the team isn't playing, he will study, read or play a game of chess.

Squad

Tactics: Attemping to be an attacking side, they push forward from the wings with a passing game, learning the arts of the counter attack. Willing to use the offside trap and press from front to back

SS SS

LM CM RM
DM
LB CD CD RB
GK

Starting line up:
Peter Seamen-38-GK: Suspended for COH Group Games
average goalie and reliable but doesn't reassure back line. Winning over his critics and won his place for what must be his last cup.

Leslie Butcher-20-LB:
inexperienced but quick and eager. Likes to attack but his shots tend to be wayward. Does not like having to man mark someone as someone good with the ball can tear him apart and fairly short so lacks ability in the air. Otherwise a promising defender who deserves his chance

Philip Cole-31-RB
Solid defender lets little past him. Slow but not enough to be much of a hindrance. Dependable but if something unexpected happens, he gets caught out. His left foot is injury prone.

Sol Major-36-CB and captain
Lacks pace and only recently recovered from injury, the man who organises the back line is a vital part of the team. Strong in the air and on the ground, a talker.

Jonathan Yan 28-CB:
strong in the air and in the tackle, this man has emerged from troublesome youth to a quality defender. Lacks pace but has threat in the air that will be useful at set pieces.

Rio Samba-30-DM:
A ball playing centre back but prone too playing off the pace and for being distracted. Recently been tried aat DM and deserves his chance since Abel retired.

Steven Milnar-25-Winger:
Has progressed up the Cuation league as a promising talent but has never quite fuffiled it. A winger who looks to sneak into the box and score, he is also pretty good when he stays wide. Replaces the retired Stanely Edwards

Timothy Ashton-30-RM:
A true winger uses power, pace and tricks to get past his man so he can hit a stinging cross in. Loves to attack and has a blistering shot. One of those looking for flick on from target man. Can get isolated and frustrated

Roy Ferguson-33-CM:
box to box midfielder with a nasty temper. His job is too support the attack or defence, depending on the situation. Fair passer of the battle, good tackle but few goals in his career, he tends to leave shooting to others. Legs going

Rual Mendisez-21-striker:
Pacy small goalscorer. Doesn't fit in with the style of play and can not dribble or jump much but useful in the counter attack or to chase a lead. Can suffer from his own doubts and arrogance.

Cuation’s joint top goalscorer at Bof 25

Peter "Beanpole" Tanner-33-striker:
The target man, big and good at holding up the ball. Lacks speed and fails to score but his main job is to bring others into the game.

Bench

Gary Jens-27-GK.
Tall, tanned, agile, good at narrowing the angle, he has many strengths. He has three flaws however: his fiery temper, crosses and being somewhat inconsistent. This man can make a fantastic save only to let a 30 yarder through his legs. Willing to sweep up behind the defence

Benched after poor performances pre season

Jamie Hargreves-30-Def/Mid:
plays anywhere in defence or in midfield but is pretty average. Good as fresh legs but that is about it

Heskey Anderton-28-LM/ST:
a striker played out of position on the left wing, covering for the lack of left wingers. Tall and strong in the air, he works hard but has the tackling ability of a striker and tends to fall over too much. Fans are on his back

Giovanni Hatzori-30-playmaker:
hates to defend and can stop bothering if he is in a mood. However when he is in the mood and gets forward, he is wizard of all aspects of the ball. Due to his ego, he can lose the battle after taking to many people on/trying something too spectacular also pulling the team out of shape is a risk with him. Looks for flick on

Cuation’s joint top goalscorer at Bof

Nicky Keano- 35-ST:

Veteran striker, a powerhouse of a player. Likes to rough up defenders and has a powerful shot but has lost some pace. This will be his first and last World Cup, natural striker hasn’t lost his touch.

If they're anybody, they're linked to their article in there. Plus you get grammatical lessons in this note too, this time, so good for you, hope you learned something!

Starblaydi World Cup 27 Squad
Menecrates Wants His Cup Back

The Staff
KA. Khim Azanulbizarn (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Khim_Azanulbizarn), Manager, 54
58 Caps, 6 Goals (10 Caps, 4 Goals at Under-21 Level (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Starblaydia_Under-21s))
Probably the most-famous football-playing Dwarf in the world, Khim's long reign as Under-21 Manager has put him in good stead after his upgrade to the senior side in the wake of Nikola Lazerevski's retirement after World Cup 25. Players who served him well in the Under-21s and the testing ground of the Draggonnii Inviyatii have formed this solid core of his team.

GE. Geraint Evans (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Geraint_Evans), Assistant-Manager, 50
46 Caps, 8 Goals (17 Caps, 4 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Named as the manager of the Starblaydi AOCAF team, Geraint makes a fine assistant to Azanulbizarn, tempering the Dwarf's more... outlandish ideas into something akin to normal.

The Goalkeepers
1. Nicholas Mathias, GK, 36 - Jhanna United - World Cup 25 Winner
16 Caps, 0 Goals (11 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)

12. David Bedford, GK, 26 - Vecchio Victors
2 Caps, 0 Goals (4 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Young but highly talented, Lil' Dave is thin as a rake but leaps and scrambles like no man you've ever seen. If you're a striker, then he's got your number.
19. Ahab Maestas (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Ahab_Maestas), GK, 34 - Hallad Reavers
12 Caps, 0 Goals (5 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Y'arr. No really, enough with the Captain Ahab jokes. Seriously, this guy is a good keeper. Captain of the Reavers as they rise back to the top in Starblaydia, Ahab should have been the man to come to the fore after the last Cup, but Mathias has outstripped his talent.

The Defenders
2. Francisco Ibanez (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Francisco_Ibanez), RB, 28 - Lepus FC (Spruitland)
17 Caps, 3 Goals (9 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Describing himself as 'Eeeeeevil!', though known as 'Iban the terrible' by Sarzonians, 'Cisco Ibanez is the cause - and the instigator - of more red cards and 22-man brawls than any other player in Starblaydi history. Some responsibility as the starting right-back may even his temper out, but I wouldn't bet on it.
3. Markko Rakkinen, LB, 23 - Tabeck FC
8 Caps, 1 Goals (1 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Living in Leopoldo Lopez's shadow, as well as being managed by one of the greatest Starblaydi Left-Backs in history, Azanulbizarn, it's easy to 'mark' out Rakkinen as not good enough. His performances, however, suggest otherwise, that this tall, lean and blond defender can cut it anywhere.
5. Jaime Oberlander (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Jaime_Oberlander), L/CB, 30 - Hallad Reavers - World Cup 25 Winner
42 Caps, 2 Goals (13 Caps, 1 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Jaime Oberlander is perhaps the greatest defender of his generation, being an essential part of three World Cup squads. Able to play at left-back but having found his true calling as a Centre-Back. Vice-Captain for the tournament, though would have been the Captain without Menecrates in the side.
6. Antonis Kouvas, CB, 26 - Kiiarana City (Vilitan Stellar)
14 Caps, 3 Goals (5 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
First spotted by Simeone Di Bradini as a youngster and taken over to Kiiarana to learn under him, Kouvas has developed into a strong young centre-back, just like the best combination for Starblaydia over the years. One strong, tough defender, and a clever, skilled one in Oberlander beside him.
13. Ricardo Almeida, RWB/RB, 24 - Kiiarana City (Vilitan Stellar)
4 Caps, 0 Goals (1 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Surely looking forward to seeing more action than most of the other substitutes, Almeida is the back-up for Ibanez in case he goes... well, mental. A neat defender who likes to attack, this full-back will be looking to get amongst the goals this campaign.
14. Alberto Belmozzi, CB/CF, 24 - Gateway Bay (Kaze Progressa)
9 Caps, 0 Goals (4 Caps, 1 Goals at Under-21 Level)
No, we can't confirm the rumours that this guy has 'the' Alan Belmore DNA in him somewhere, nor that he's a genetic experiement designed to make better footballers. He's a great defender, though, with a powerful shot, too.
20. Juan Valdez, CB, 21 - Unattached
2 Caps, 0 Goals (Uncapped at Under-21 Level)
An up and coming young centre back, currently without a club though training harder than anyone in the squad to keep his fitness levels up at the required level. Available on a long-term contract around the world.

The Midfielders
4. Georges Blanc, CM, 28 - Floral FC (Bedistan)
23 Caps, 2 Goals (7 Caps, 2 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Simply describing Georges as a 'Central' midfielder doesn't do justice to his attacking or defensive instincts. Currently employed as the defensive lynchpin of the midfield, Georges' usefulness for Starblaydia cannot be understated.
7. Paul Noble, R/CM, 23 - Vecchio Victors
16 Caps, 5 Goals (1 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
A very fine young midfielder who has totally earned his place in the squad. Anyone who can relegate Cherry Garcia to the bench deserves a mention. A pin-point crosser of the ball and a willingness to tackle back mark him out as one to remain in this position for the forseeable future.
8. Menecrates (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Menecrates), Captain A/R/L/C/M, 32 - Corinthian Spirits - World Cup 25 Winner
52 Caps, 18 Goals (16 Caps, 6 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Surely one of the greatest players in the world today, if not the greatest. Almost single-handedly dragging Starblaydia from 1-0 down to 2-1 up in the World Cup 25 Final, scoring a goal along the way, Menecrates is as gifted a player as any nation has ever produced. Captaining the team for the second consecutive Cup, Menny has publicly stated he's here for one thing: to get it back. [OOC: Hopefully everyone else will think of Menecrates as I do: the NS version of Ronaldinho. Yes, he's that good.]
11. Javi Chavez, LM, 25 - Corinthian Spirits
13 Caps, 2 Goals (4 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Perhaps seen as the one weak link in the squad, Javi is anything but, playing excellent football in a fiercely competitive Spirits' side. A great understanding with Menecrates merely cemented his place over other capable players.
15. Virgil Ernesto, DM, 31 - Hecia - World Cup 25 Winner
32 Caps, 1 Goals (14 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Playing in his thrid World Cup campaign, the rise of Blanc has put Virgil back on the bench, though his telling experience and natural defensive cunning make him useful in any tight spot, or troublesome away game.
16. Jade Matranga (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Jade_Matranga), L/AM, 27 - Tabeck Lightning
16 Caps, 3 Goals (5 Caps, 3 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Able to play in two different positions, the presence of the Corinthian Spirits' pair of Menecrates and Javi Chavez has put her on the bench alongside Garcia. Jade is a fine playmaker and goal-scorer, though will need to shine when she finally gets the oppurtunity from the sub's bench.
17. Cherry Garcia (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Cherry_Garcia), RW, 30 - Jhanna City - World Cup 25 Winner
55 Caps, 11 Goals (17 Caps, 7 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Starblaydia's first and perhaps always will be the greatest female player. As a right-winger she is almost peerless, with pace, tricks, skill and the deadliest of right-footed crosses ever to leave a football boot. Left out of the Starting Eleven through a drop in pace through age and the emergence of Paul Noble.
21. Pedro Rujano, C/DM, 19 - Na~ovi Nanti (Rejistania 1st Division)
2 Caps, 0 Goals (Uncapped at Under-21 Level)
Partly Turorian and playing in Rejistania, this Starblaydi midfielder is, usually, all over the place on the pitch. In a good way, of course, covering more ground per-game than most other players in the new H1SR. The definition of 'midfield engine', though could he become a midfield general?
22. Durum Rage, AM, 21 - Karak Ungor Chiefs
4 Caps, 0 Goals (Uncapped at Under-21 Level)
The first Dwarf to come through since Garahildim, this young'un plays for the only all-Dwarf team in Liga Starblaydia and can ghost into the box like nobody's business, hitting a sledgehammer of a shot and occasionally even a header or two. Youthful and fiery, but how else would the Clan Rage be described?

The Forwards
9. Raphaelo (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Raphaelo), SC, 30 - Iskara Daii - World Cup 25 Winner
47 Caps, 14 Goals (15 Caps, 5 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Take Raph on his merits and you'll soon see that he's worth his weight in World Cup-winning gold, despite not having the hype of his colleagues. An impressive strike partnership at club level with the Daii has brought Raph off the bench and into the squad to partner Dash, in place of Vega.
10. Dasha Tolkacheva (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Dasha_Tolkacheva), SC, 24 - Iskara Daii
16 Caps, 14 Goals (2 Caps, 2 Goals at Under-21 Level)
An incredible amount of pace is "Dash's" key weapon, combined with deadly accuracy and good knowledge of Raphaelo's game leads her to be Starblaydia's first female #10. An astonishing scoring record for her country is just the proof that she needs to show her worth in front of any doubters.
18. Roberto Vega, SC, 27 - Internashionale - World Cup 25 Winner
13 Caps, 6 Goals (4 Caps, 3 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Made his name in the Draggonnii Inviyatii with four goals in six games, Vega's promise as a Number-Nine for his nation has been cut short by the club-and-country partnership of Raph and Dash.
23. Maivia Von Erich, SC, 21 - Widdrington Wolves
Uncapped (Uncapped at Under-21 Level)
Young and unproven at international level, Von Erich gives Starblaydia an impact player that only the most-dedicated of international league viewers would be able to tell you anything about.

This Pschychoes side will boast a lot of experience, with only Franz Persson, star of the past few Pschychoes teams, and David Ypres, who anchored the left side of the defence retiring from starting spots. Substitute forward Richard Falken is also hangin up his cleats. Goalkeeper Jorge Fernandina will remain for his sixth world cup, a feat unprecedented in Squornshelan footballing history. His career has built up into one last run for the cup, since his international debut at the age of 17 in World Cup 22. Persson and Falken will be replaced by a glut of talented young forwards, including Vasili Petrov of Fallia FK, Iannis Xenakis of Vogsphere United and Israel Kamaka of KF Kakrafoon. Werner Berthold of Damogran FK may also see some playing time. All of these forwards, combined with the resignation of manger Ricardo Colon after a disappointing run in WC26, has lead to a change in strategy by the Squornshelan team. New head manager Seamus McCormack, along with assistant Xavier Kieths, who played midfield for the Pschychoes for several cups, have decided not to replace David Ypres. Instead, an extra attacker will be put on the field, and the midfield will be restructured.

Squornshelous will play in a brand new 3-2-2-1-2 formation

Tadjikistans most important striker(Oleg Salenko) retired as player at the age of 36, but replacements have been found; Saidomir Saradov and Zhenya Zyrianov, a veteran and a young talent, they will will be Tadjikistans battering ram. They dont have to do that alone as behind them Michael Pliiev, another veteran and key player on the midfield, will support them. In the defence the most important name is Daniel Gurchev, now often called grampa by the others, goalkeeper and player with the biggest mouth(although that has lessened a bit since he got older)

PALADINS BREAK WITH TRADITION

High school students will play as a national team rather then as a bunch of schools

NEW MONTREAL - Yep, we're not making it up. After beating then-number 1 Sarzonia and national rivals Milchama at the Dragonni Inviyatii, the Ministry of Morale has decided to return what is almost the same roster, with only a couple of switches in the subs. Players are listed with their high schools, and starters are in bold.

The Archregimancy
03-03-2006, 04:29
THE ARCHREGIMANCY BRINGS YOU

THE ARCHREGIMANCY WC 26 SQUAD

Time passes differently in the Dreamed Realm, so the Archregimancy has the luxury of entering an unchanged side from the last World Cup if it so chooses.

However, the current controversy over the necessity of playing football matches over Lent and Easter means that the current roster is subject to last minute change with little or no warning.

Fr. Michael the New Hermit in particular is believed to have strongly objected to team management, and is threatening to walk out of the squad unless the qualification schedule can be changed.

For those not in the know, the Archregimancy is a nation of Orthodox (Eastern Orthodox Christian - Russian, Greek, Serb, etc) monks and celibate priests.

COACH:
Metropolitan Kyrill of Solovetsky

THE STARTING XI:
The Archregimancy plays in an orthodox 4-4-2 formation (style: 0)

GK:
Fr. Justinian the Thrice-Blessed (Pantaleimon): Roundly acknowledged as the best goalkeeper in the Monastic League, Fr. Justinian saved three shots in the penalty shoot-out that decided a recent Pantaleimon v Pantocrator Monastic Cup semi-final.

DEF:
Fr. Michael the New Hermit (Hermits United): On those rare occasions where he actually leaves his small cell high in the mountains to play for his team, Fr. Michael the New Hermit is a left-back of no little skill and refinement.

Fr. Michael the Greater (Troitse-Sergiyeva): His name has nothing to do with his devotion – this towering centre-back is merely several centimetres taller than his namesake and teammate Fr. Michael the Lesser.

Fr. Dmitri the Humble (Pantocrator): While vowed to silence and humility, there’s nothing humble about this centre-backs crunching tackles.

Fr. Michael the Lesser (Troitse-Sergiyeva): Club teammate of Fr. Michael the Greater, and a speedy overlapping right-back fond of taking corners.

MID:
Fr. Andrew the Twice-Found (Vatopedion): This left-winger has had two spells at Vatopedion either side of a spiritual journey through the vast emptiness of the Archregimancy’s desert.

Fr. Constantine the Learned (Simonopetra) Fr. Polycarp the Venerable's decision to retire from international football has left a huge gap in midfield which his Simonopetra team-mate - a studious tactical master - now hopes to fill.

Fr. David the Water-Drinker CAP (Llanilltud Fawr): The only western-rite player on the squad - and controversial choice as captain - this central midfielder is renowned for spurning the heretical properties of Gatorade for the spiritually uplifting properties of pure spring water.

Fr. Pavel the Wanderer (Iviron): Iviron’s star right-winger – a celibate priest rather than a monk - often drifts in from the wing in the course of one of his trademark mazy dribbles.

FOR:
Fr. Silouan of the Seventy Caves (Solovetsky): This centre forward’s goalscoring ability is second only to his attention to the Holy Fasts.

Fr. Basil the Faster (Pantaleimon): Even more devoted to the Holy Fasts than Fr. Silouan - this past Great Lent he ate nothing but grass - Fr. Basil is also quite a speedy little forward.

SUBS
GK
Fr. Gleb the Fortunate (Hilandarion)

DEF
Fr. Nicholas the Twice-Blessed (Solovetsky)
Fr. Alexander the Missionary (Zografos)
Fr. Alexander the Sailor (Pantocrator)

MID
Fr. Michael the Equally as Learned as Father Constantine of Simonopetra (Iviron)
Fr. Theophilus the Golden (Vatopedion)
Fr. Polyeuctus the Obscure (Borisoglebsky)

FOR:

The team is always accompanied to matches by the Holy Icon of the Mother of God, Bringer of Victory, which shall be paraded before the team before all home and away qualifiers.

Tips for footballing visitors to the Archregimancy:

1) Each home match is preceded by the complete Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. Rest assured that this should only require visiting teams, fans, and officials to stand for a mere 2 hours before kickoff. Consider yourselves lucky we don't use the Liturgy of St. Basil.

2) We control the nature of reality in the Dreamed Realm (see NSwiki for more details on our region). This isn't used to cheat - all normal rules of football are strenuously followed - but it does have two major side effects:
A) Any injuries to either team in Archregimancy home matches are immediately healed.
B) No violent or riotous behaviour by visiting fans will be tolerated. Any such behaviour will find those responsible immediately transported back to ordinary physical reality.

3) Direct travel from ordinary physical reality to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. Some 72 hours before your away qualifier in the Archregimancy, a team of monks shall arrive in your home stadium and construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. You may then use this to travel to the Archregimancy at your leisure.

4) A maximum of 10,000 visiting supporters shall be permitted into the Archregimancy for each qualifying match.

5) Women are not usually permitted into the Archregimancy. Exceptions will be made for visiting players and properly accredited officials - largely because we have to - but not for visiting supporters.

6) The rules of international football force us to permit atheists, communists, freemasons, assorted heretics and foul excelites into the Archregimancy for home qualifiers - but this doesn't mean we have to like it.

OOC: I realise my team might present a role-playing challenge. Rest assured that once they start playing they'll play just like any other team (though they might be a bit more inclined to pray after scoring), so I have no problem with you treating the team like any other if you don't want to deal with the Orthodox Christian element.
Allied Anime Worlds

Team Name: Silver Pandas

Team logo: A panda mauling a frightened guy in a generic soccer uniform, done in silver

Formation: 4-3-3

Style modifier: +1

The roster is formatted as follows

Role:
Name - M/F (Age): Bio

Head coach:
Chio Miyahama - F (14): Chio Miyahama is a Colonel in the Magical Soldiers, and one of the Federation military's child geniuses. She will use her experience in squad level tactics and psychological warfare to try and bring the Federation of Allied Anime Worlds to victory.

Forwards:

Secretary of Defense Raye Sun - F (20 physical, 5209 chronological): Sometimes regarded as paranoid but more often acknowledged as right, Raye Sun insisted on continuing as a member of the FAAW's world cup team to see to their security.

Lt. Sagara Souske - M (20): One of the Federation military's fast rising stars, he is the commanding officer of the Federation Elite Assault Company. His strength and speed brings extra bite to the Federation offensive.

Sgt. Vash "The Humaniod Sampede" Bullherd - M (19): Lt. Souske's wingman, he works amazingly well with Sagara, as was proven in the Baptism of Fire. Together, they are referred to as the Dynamic Duo.

Gary Gabriov - M (23): A new recruit to replace Shinji Ikau as starting forward, he brings confidence to the position that Shinji lacked.

Midfielders:

Fleet Admiral Emeralds - F (28): With the entire Federation fleet still in drydock (all three ships of it) this Admrial is itching for some acation. Any action. Even if doesn't mean killing some bad guys.

Zeged Irinar - M (23): A replacement for Amy Waters with astonishing endurance, this new recruit ensures that the Federation midfield won't peter out in the end game. Now if Chio can just get his ball handling up to par...

Rina Negative - F (22): A new recruit to replace Undersecretary Umora Shin, her ability is a major improvement over the unathletic Shin. This is not saying much, but Rina promises to be a valuable addition to the team.

Fullbacks:

Mugen - M (21): He worked so well so consistently with Yuki Miya in the Baptism of Fire that Chio decided to rotate him into the starting position. He is also a traveling companion of Gene Wil and Fuwa Rin.

Yuki Miya - F (17): A high school football star whose defensive action was vital in securing both a high school championship and the Baptism of Fire trophy. She works very well with Mugen, and the fans have dubbed Yuki and Mugen the Defensive Dynamic Duo.

Ran "Crazy Horse" Mara - M (22): Originally swept up in Mahoro's frantic last-minute recuitment effort, he originally regarded his participation on the team as yet another of a litany of misadventures. He now regards his membership in the Silver Pandas as a not unpleasant way to pull down an income.

Goalkeeper:

Secretary of the Incredibly Obvious Mahoro - superficially F (432): An android who usually has the job of reminding the Federation council when they're missing something incredibly obvious, she was also in charge of the initial recuriting effort. Colonel Chio Miyahama has since taken over those duites.

Reserve forwards:

Cpl. Shinji Ikau - M (17): Another of the Federation military's child geniuses, he has ability in abundance but lacks self-confidence. Chio intends to put him back in the starting position eventually, but cannot tolerate his lack of confidence at this level.

Aki Tenda - F (22): Originally a starting fullback, Chio decided that her aggressive play style more suited her to being a forward. She is also Ran's fiancee.

Reserve Midfielders:

Gene Wil (22): A mysterious master of Aikido who is a traveling companion of Fuwa Rin and Mugen. He is the focus of a controversy within the group that prevented them from going to their next destination. They signed up after the Baptism of Fire so they have money to eat while the disagreement is sorted out.

Uten Tenshi - F (16): A young woman who claims to have graduated from the Ohtari Academy, a claim that Gene fiercely contends is impossible. She loves roses and has fencing as a hobby, which has attracted the attention of Fuwa Rin.

Reserve fullbacks:

Fuwa Rin - F (19): A young woman who claims to be searching for a "swordsman who smells of roses." After learning about the possible connection with the Ohtari Academy, and the fact that Uten claims to have graduated from there, she is determined to find out if Uten is her elusive swordsman, or if she knows who it is.

Lt. Sakake - F (23): One of Chio's classmates from officer's school, she decided to pursue a career in the Mechanized Infantry instead of the Magical Soldiers. She is often undervalued (and underestimated) because of her quiet personality.

Reserve Goalies:

Pan-Pan - ? (?): No one knows for sure who authorized this panda to join the team, or where it came from. Originally relegated to being the mascot, Chio discovered that he was also an excellent goalie when Mahoro was incapacitated during a Baptism of Fire game.

Starters:

D Thomas Cornt
D Meir Ben Moshe
D Paris Klesterfeud
D Amit Luton
M Quentin Myler- A great midfielder for Great Alexandria. Good on the ball and an excellent crosser.
M Bobby Connon- The perfect central midfielder. Good at creating chances, holding the ball in midfield and scoring when he needs to. Is a teammate of Kate Windsor.
M Kevin Mirshmon
F Kate Windsor- Windsor and her clubmate Bobby Connon play very good together. Will be counted on to take some of the pressure off of Misterson.
F Clyde Misterson (captain)- Best player Collonie has ever produced. Led the MFL in goals last year and led the Desert Foxes to a Milchama Cup before that. Scores a lot of goals and as he goes the squad goes.

Praying2God Warriors Roster

Head Coach: Paul Johnson

He is the only Head Coach the Warriors have had since returning to WC competition. This is now his 7th WC as Head Coach, and he has a career record of 31-32-19 (wins-losses-ties), including a 1-2-0 record in WC finals competition. Expectations are high for this WC after a shocking conclusion to qualifying pushed the Warriors into the WC finals for the first time, where they were eliminated in the group stage. Being one of the top-30 teams in the world means expectations are higher than ever, and disappointment could mean jeopardizing his job.

Assistant Coach: John Ball
Goalie Coach: Mark Williams
Trainer: Mary Ann Glover

All of the assistant trainers know their roles, and are outstanding in them. In particular, Goalie Coach Mark Williams is becoming renowned throughout the world as one of the best in the business at what he does. Trainer Mary Ann Glover always seems to have the Warriors peaking at just the right time physically.

G: Sarah (Walker) Larson (age 34)*

Sarah is one of the best goalies in the world. If the Warriors can get her a lead, the other team is in big trouble, as she finds a way to take her game up a notch when she's protecting a lead, especially in the late stages. She has also gone down in Warriors soccer lore for scoring the match-winning goal against Giant Zucchini in WC XXI.

G: Susan Walker (18)

Sarah’s younger sister is one of the most talented upcoming keepers in Praying2God. She probably won’t see much action, but she can do the job when called upon better than most. She will be able to learn a lot from her sister by being on the roster, and is expected to take her sister’s place in the starting line-up when she retires.

D: Christine Holly (34)*

Christine has become the heart and soul of the Warriors’ defense. Her offensive capabilities make her the most likely Warriors defender to score, especially since she takes most corner kicks. However, she's more known for her defensive abilities. Her younger sister, Kylie is also on the Warriors’ roster.

D: Claire Paulson (34)*

A very solid defender. She is also an outstanding passer, having garnered one goal and seven assists in her six WCs. Claire may be entering her final WC, as age is starting to become a factor. She may be a step slower than she has been in previous WCs, but she’ll still be a force to be reckoned with for those who cross her path.

D: Haley Erickson (22)*

Young in comparison to most of the Warriors starters, Haley has worked hard with the since moving into the line-up leading up to WC XXVI. Haley is a defensive defender, so don’t expect to see much from her in the scoring department.

D: Stephanie Vickner (22)*

Stephanie is also a young starter for the Warriors, and appears to be part of the beginning of the gradual youth movement on the Warriors roster, as the Warriors starters that have pretty much remained constant since returning to WC action in WC XX are starting to reach the late stages of their careers. Stephanie is another defensive defender, so she won’t do much scoring.

D: Danielle Karlson (22)
D: Ryan Stone (20)
D: Linda Storm (18)

This group of reserve defenders is fairly young, but very talented. They would not be much of a drop off from the starters if pressed into action, though the lack of experience might eventually show itself. All of them mark their assignment very well, and are good passers.

M: Ashley Gore (33)*

The leader of the Warriors midfield, Ashley is the third leading scorer for the Warriors over her six WCs, compiling 23 points, with 15 of them coming on assists. She also has the distinction of being the first Warrior other than Thomas Larson to score a match-winning goal, when she scored in the 89th minute against Turori to give the Warriors a 2-1 upset. She is a solid defensive player too. Her scoring numbers were down in WC XXVI, look for her to rebound in WC XXVII, or she may think about retirement.

M: Alissa Madison (33)*

A former reserve forward, Alissa was changed to a midfielder and named a starter when the Warriors changed formations before WC XXIV, and hasn’t disappointed with three goals and five assists. She has a lot of offensive talent, and was the best defensive forward on the roster when she played up front.

M: Kylie Holly (33)*

While more offensively minded than her sister, Christine, who leads the Warriors defense, Kylie is still a very good defensive player. She contributes a decent amount on the offensive end, collecting a goal and three assists in WC XXVI. She might also stick around longer than most players her age because she keeps herself in very good condition. She is an outstanding passer and has great ball control.

M: Brittany Law (18)*

The first player that earned multiple appearances while on the Warriors bench, in preparation for this moment, is ready to make some noise in the Warriors line-up. There are some that are already suggesting that she may be the next Ashley Gore. Brittany scored a goal in her five appearances during WC XXVI, and it was in the finals at that, so she’s already proven herself against tough opposition. Look for her to provide a spark to the Warriors offense.

M: Sarah Toliver (18)
M: Nicole Small (19)
M: Alison Red (18)
M: Adam White (16)

A very talented up-and-coming group of midfielders. This group has nice balance to it, and would be a group that compliments itself quite nicely if it would ever start together. All of them are quality players on both sides of the ball, with Nicole and Alison being the most defensive minded. Adam is an extremely smart player who should learn how to play well at this level very quickly.

F: Thomas Larson (34) Captain*

Arguably one of the greatest players in the game today, and by far the most well-known Warriors player. He has the ability to score anytime he touches the ball, no matter where he is on the field. This is his fifth WC as the official Warriors captain. Hands down, the Warriors’ leading scorer, having poured in 63 points (45 goals, 18 assists) in his six WCs, in only 82 matches. Defenses try to focus on shutting him down, but with all the offensive talent between the forwards and midfielders, it is hard to double him at all times.

F: Kelly Carter (33)*

The second leading scorer for the Warriors, having scored 37 points (23 goals, 14 assists) in her six WCs. She is a threat anytime she touches the ball. However, her accomplishments have been overshadowed by Thomas'. She doesn’t appear to be planning on retiring in the near future. She struggled a bit in the goal scoring department during WC XXVI, so look for her to come out hungry for goals.

F: Amy Elder (22)
F: Jenna Polk (15)

A pair of very talented back-up forwards. Amy is young compared to the most of the other members of the team, but that may be a good thing, as she’ll be better suited to lead once the current starters are gone. Jenna has a lot of learning to do, but she has three very good players in front of her that will all probably be around for a couple more WCs (at least), so she’ll have plenty of time to learn.

Hypocria

World Cup 27 - Hypocria Squad

Coach

Alex Santoro (42)
Former manager of Pylos Reavers who was appointed as national coach following Dave Wilson’s return to Sarzonia. Santoro has recently led the Hyppos to the Quarter Finals of both the AOCAF and the Cup of Harmony and he benefited hugely from not being involved in the disastrous performances in Andossa Se Mitrin Vega.

Assistant Coaches

Gregory Vidal (47)
Long serving member of the national side’s coaching staff.

Paul Blake (41)
Former captain of the national side who has been added to the coaching staff to help solidify an often leaky defence.

Andrei Shirko (40)
Another former international who is adding his experience to the cause. With 32 international goals to his name Shirko can certainly give the attackers a pointer or two.

The Giant Zucchini Zucchinis

Note: Roster is susceptible to change throughout qualifying

Coach: James Gorton – 69
This campaign will definitely be Gorton’s last. After an amazing run which saw the Zucchinis qualify for World Cup 26, Gorton has decided to retire after this season’s qualifying campaign. Nevertheless, he has aimed to retire with a bang, setting qualification as the target his players have to attain. Talking of players, he has pretty much settled on the same core as the last campaign, despite a complete overhaul of the team formation.

Starting 11

Formation: 1-2-1-2-1-3

GK: Hendrik Groot (Deutsch SV) – 24 – 3 caps/9 conceded
Technically speaking, Groot is undeniably the best goalkeeping talent Giant Zucchini has produced in the modern era so far. His handling is assured, his positioning has yet to be faulted, and his decisions to leave his line have been justified. Gorton will hope that his experience in Deutsch SV will prepare him for the biggest stage in NationStates.

SW: Peter Lee Albom (Anglo FC) – 27
One of the new additions to the National Team, Albom has been picked after two excellent seasons for Anglo FC. Armed with pace, strength, technique, and a crunching tackle, Albom has grown into one of the best defenders in Giant Zucchini. Furthermore, his international experience in the NSFA Cup will stand him in good stead.

LB: Carlos Corretja (Iberia CF) – 28 – 32 caps/1 goal
A staple in Gorton’s side for 3 campaigns, Corretja has grown into one of the key defenders in the Zucchini lineup, his strength and crunching tackle a few of the reasons for this. He also possesses good stamina and acceleration as well as an accurate pass.

RB: Ramón Gimeno (Iberia CF) – 25 – 15 caps
One of the fastest rising talents in Giant Zucchini, Gimeno has grown into a ferocious wingback; quick, with a good pass, full of stamina, and a tenacious tackle. His shooting and heading ability means he could pop up with a few goals here and there as well. Quite simply the best at what he does, and his potential to grow is frightening. A true star in the making.

CDM: Absamat Chekhov (FC Spartak Vostochno) – 25 – 15 caps/3 goals
A cultured central defensive midfielder, Chekhov has the stamina to last the pace and the control to dictate it, as well as the passing ability to initiate attacking openings. He has grown from the last campaign into a true all-round midfield general, as well as becoming an attacking threat as well. The only weak point in his game is his lack of pace, but his vision more than makes up for it.

LWM: Mikhail Glinka (FC Spartak Vostochno) – 35 – 34 caps/2 goals - Captain
An all rounded winger, Glinka has the passing ability to pick players out in the box, as well as the dribbling ability to leave defenders in his dust, and the stamina to do it up to the final second of extra time. However, his shooting is barely average, and physically he is easily overpowered by strong opposition. Moreover, the years have taken a toll on his once breakneck pace. Nevertheless, his experience will serve him well as he retains the captaincy from the last campaign.

RWM: Gottlieb Poulsen (Anglo FC) – 29 – 30 caps/2 goals
Poulsen is a wizard with the ball at his feet. His feet are capable of stuff that many only dream of in their sleep. In addition, his improvements in the last 4 years mean that he has become one of the pest passers in the team, as well as one of the quickest. However, his shooting leaves much to be desired, and his heading, despite being much improved from his past, is still far below standard. Also, despite his silky skills, he can be pushed off the ball rather easily. Nevertheless, he has proved himself a vital member of the team from last season’s performances.

CAM: Pablo Pérez (Iberia CF) – 25
Another recent addition to the squad, Gorton believes that Pérez has enough quality to dislodge Boyer from the position he has done so well in. We think so too. Despite not having the fitness, strength, and all-round midfield dominance of Boyer, Pérez is an attacking dream. Blistering pace, exquisite shooting, amazing passing range and vision, good heading technique, perfectly timed tackles, and eye-catching skills, Pérez’s hard work over the past few years have paid off handsomely, and he is ready to impress on the big stage.

CF: Vicente de Silva (Iberia CF) – 24 – 1 cap
Vicente de Silva has improved tremendously to secure his place in the starting 11. His finishing ability has never been doubted, but he has also boosted his lesser attributes such as passing, control, strength and pace to a decent standard.

CF: Johann Rilke (Deutsch SV) – 25 – 32 caps/11 goals
Rilke is the star player of this Giant Zucchini team. A blisteringly accurate strike coupled with lightning pace, good touch, and a punishing head on the ball, Rilke has also developed his strength up to a competitive level. The current leader in Giant Zucchini’s scoring charts in its modern history, Rilke does not look like he is going to stop scoring anytime soon.

CF: Dino Nuvolari (AC Romanic) – 30 – 12 caps/2 goals
Nuvolari is a quick strong goal-poacher with excellent finishing ability. However, his first touch may let him down.

Bench

GK: Edgardo García (Iberia CF) – 27
Promising up-and-coming goalkeeper. However, his progress in the national side is thwarted by his tendency to parry balls away instead of catching them confidently, as well as the meteoric rise of Hendrik Groot.

RB: René Ulvaeus (Nordic IF) – 24 – 6 caps
A fit strong wingback that can play on either flank, Ulvaeus has a crunching tackle and effective distribution. With a decent strike and a good header, this utility player can even be brought in as a makeshift striker. A true super-sub.

RM: Fra di ser Tartini (AC Romanic) – 25 – 4 caps/3 goals
A quick dribbler in the same vein as Poulsen, with his strength over the ball giving him an extra edge. However, he lacks Poulsen’s brilliant range of passing. Nevertheless, his scoring touch has made him a cult hero in Giant Zucchini after scoring the goals that sent Giant Zucchini into World Cup 26.

RF: Wayne Carragher (Anglo FC) – 25
A strong striker with blistering pace and a good head on the ball. However, his touch and passing could let him down at this level.

CM: Armand Boyer (Gallo FC) – 29 – 33 caps/2 goals
One of the best all-round midfielders in Giant Zucchini, Boyer could be seen as a victim of Gorton’s new team formation. Nevertheless, his all-round game would mean that he will be able to fill in for both Chekhov and Pérez if either is unable to play, such is his ability that he has almost no weak spot in his game. However, the common criticism for Boyer is that none of his attributes really stand out or surpass Chekhov or Pérez in their areas of excellence.

Reserves

GK: John Shilton (Anglo FC) – 24
Bobby Laredo’s retirement from international football means that his understudy, Shilton, makes the fringes of this squad. However, he is nowhere near good enough to challenge the top 2 in terms of quality.

CM: Arturo Bardi (AC Romanic) – 24 – 15 caps/1 goal
Bardi is a short but nippy central midfielder, crucial to the Zucchinis’ success in the last campaign. Bardi is most suited to attacking play, owning a sweet strike of the ball, Bardi’s best talents are in creating chances, his vision and creative range of passing showing great promise.

LF: Yoshikatsu Nakamura (Nihon Dawn) – 22 – 2 Under-21 caps/1 goal
One of the stars of the Young Zucchinis side, Nakamura has good stamina, a blistering shot, strength, finishing ability, as well as a good touch of the ball. However, his pace and passing could do with some work to bring it up to a competitive standard. Could be a true star if he lives up to his potential.

CB: Tommi Ekberg (Nordic IF) – 22 – 1 Under-21 cap
A strong central defender, Ekberg’s only weak link is his heading ability. He has great all-round potential and he has the ability to become the next defensive rock of the Zucchini team if he lives up to it.

RM: Arturo di Zampieri (AC Romanic) – 21 – 2 Under-21 caps
Another potential star, di Zampieri is already known in Giant Zucchini for his silky skills. He also has a good tackle as well as amazing passing range and vision for his age. Could grow into another all-round midfield star.

RB: Modest Kaganovich (FC Spartak Vostochno) – 33 – 22 caps/1 goal
Above average right back, with good heading ability despite his lack of height. Also does not shirk in the tackle. However, his lack of strength may be used against him.

Bettia

Sundays, man they could've been Fundays
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y231/bettia/FAB.jpg

Aroras Prepare for the Long Haul

Bettia's slightly revamped 21-man squad will be looking to make a major splash after the disappointment of the last World Cup, and hoping to impress new manager Stuart Abdul-Rahim.

Style Modifier

We don't do defence - we trash defence.

In typically gung-ho fashion, Bettia will be playing with as positive a style modifier as possible (+5).

Roleplaying

If RPing first, the FAB give our opponents permission to RP / godmod pretty much anything they like... just don't kill or maim anyone, or we'll send the boys round - kapeesh?

Goalkeepers:

1. Ricardo DiTorino - Akani Sands, age 24, 82 caps.
Despite a torrid time between the sticks during the last World Cup, DiTorino has retained his position as Bettia's no.1, but he'll have to up his performances if he is to prevent the promising crop of young keepers from taking his place.

12. Von Bietsch - Gabalfa City, age 30, 13 caps, 1 goal
Giant 6'7" goalkeeper who gained international experience with the now-defunct nation of Vtorbetin. A strong showing in the Cup of Harmony (including a last-gasp goal) has seen him earn a callup to the World Cup squad.

Defence:

2. Gwynoro Tyrno'r - Makosile United (Vilita), age 24, 35 caps, 1 goal.
An exciting young defensive talent whose strong displays earned him a move to the Vilitan league. After being used mainly as a sub for the last few campaigns, strong performances together with international retirements has seen him emerge as a first-teamer, and he'll be looking to grasp this opportunity with both hands.

3. Geraint Carew - Gabalfa Rovers, age 31, 116 caps, 7 goals.
One of the most experienced and consistant players in the squad. A dependable tackler and swift counter-attacker, Carew also shows some prowess from the penalty spot, as demonstrated by his 10 goals for newly-crowned champions Gabalfa Rovers.

4. Jon McKinnon - Patriots Everton (Krytenia), age 25, 70 caps.
Like Gwynoro Tyrno'r, McKinnon worked his way through the Under-21 ranks before clinching a spot in the full international squad at a young age, and, like Tyrno'r, his potential was spotted by foreign talent scouts. He's been a mainstay of Bettia's back three for many years.

13. John Hanson - Akani Sands, age 24, 21 Caps
Forms the nucleus of a strong Akani Sands' defence, and after his rock-solid performances in the Cup of Harmony, the management will be looking for a similar performance here.

14. Rabah Hopcin - CPD Porthbalfa, age 26, 11 caps
Hopcin is the cornerstone of a stingy Porters defence, his powerful displays during the CofH have seen him earn a place in the World Cup squad.

Midfield:

5. John Connick - Rolestu FC (Bedistan), age 34, 111 caps - captain.
His keen awareness of players around him and pinpoint passes has established this midfield dynamo as the playmaker of the team, and his consistant performances in the green and gold have earned him the prestige of being named as captain.

6. Badr Warlow - Gabalfa City, age 26, 35 caps, 5 goals.
An emerging talent whose free-kicks are famed and feared within the Apex League. Scored 3 times in the last cup, and will be looking to muscle his way into the first team after spending many years in the shadows of Evan Brooks (who announced his international retirement after AOCAF XII) and Connick.

15. Ziyad Farmer - Porasse (Nedalia), age 24, 13 caps, 1 goal
Young central midfielder whose impressive displays saw him become an ever-present for Bettia during recent tournaments. After an impressive season in the Nedalian Premier League, he's raring to go.

16. Ali Ap Tegryn - Lorshill City, age 24, 13 caps, 3 goals
Another young midfielder who also impressed during the Cup of Harmony. Is devasting from long range and at set plays.

Wingers:

7. Ieaun Swain - Grappenhall United, age 27, 75 caps, 4 goals.
An exceptionally quick player who has made the left-wing slot his own. After enjoying another tremendous season with a resurgent Grappenhall United, he'll be hoping his club form translates onto the international field, just as it did in the last World Cup.

11. Jason Abdullah - Butetown Dragons, age 24, 59 caps.
A firey winger who usually plays on the right but just as capable on the left, making him an ideal member for this squad. Has performed exceptionally well in the new set-up, although he has lost his rag on more than one occasion.

17. Jamie Kingsholm - Grappenhall, age 24, 11 caps
Exciting young striker who has formed part of the feared strikeforce at his home-town club with Sarzonian international Roy Spencer. Is equally at home in the centre or in his favoured position on the left wing.

18. Laurie LeClerc - Zupera (Nedalia), age 24, 18 Caps, 3 goals
Tricky winger/centre-forward whose speed and skill serves him more than well in the Nedalian Premier league, where he was named Player of the Year. With his confidence sky-high, he'll be staking a claim for a starting place before too long.

Forwards:

8. Latif Hunter - Aigburth Athletic (Krytenia), age 24, 61 caps, 23 goals.
A true wonderkid, Hunter astounded the Bettian footballing scene by winning the Golden Boot during the first Apex League. Has been playing in Krytenia for a couple of seasons where the experience seems to have done hime a world of good. Forms parts of Bettia's feared front-three with Hutton and York.

9. Chris Hutton - Marine Coast United (Vilita), age 23, 90 caps, 40 goals.
A prolific scorer in international football who makes his living in the V-League. TThe centrepiece of Bettia's front line for a few seasons now, he is famed for his terrier-like tenacity and shooting accuracy.

10. Judson York - Pylos Reavers (Hypocria), age 31, 85 caps, 47 goals.
Fearsome. There's no other word to describe Judson York. His skill, speed and power has seen him set the Hypocrian league on fire over the last couple of seasons, coming away with the Golden Boot on more than one occasion. He has established himself as a first team regular for Bettia. A versatile striker who can play as a centre-forward or on either wing.

19. Brennan Alasanne - Ceffinton Town, age 26, 6 Caps, 3 goals
Former international striker with the now non-existant Liamist States who has now become a naturalised Bettian. A pacy player with a keen eye for goal, as he proved in Bettia's march to the Cup of Harmony final.

20. Oliver Stankovic - CPD Porthbalfa, age 23, 4 Caps, 1 goal
Another striker from the former Liamist States who has become a naturalised Bettian. This youngster with a stong left foot has consistantly figured in the Apex League top scorers list ever since joining the Porters, and is slowly but surely establishing himself as an Aroras regular.

21. Ieuan Howerth - CPD Porthbalfa, age 24, 19 caps, 2 goals.
After spending some time abroad, Howerth has returned to his former club after the Liamist States went belly-up. Howerth is nicknamed The Flea because he irritates and taunts opponents with his flair and skill, which sometimes makes him the target of some crunching tackles.

Majeristan Falcons

Coach: Hatime I Ra~e
Assistant Coach: Roger Taylor (48 years old)

SQUAD (starters in bold)
Goalkeepers
30 Hicham Elkayim (25). With the retirement of former starter Khari Hasenjafi and a World Cup qualifying effort under his belt, Elkayim becomes the starter for the Falcons in goal. Sporting Ikasi have signed him to a two year contract which he will honour upon graduating from uni.
35 Hasim Rahbani (22). With Elkayim now the starting goalkeeper, Rahbani beat out several veterans for the starting job and stands to be Elkayim's rival for the job for years to come.

Defenders
2 Khalid Amad (27). The youngest member of the most experienced part of the team, Amad brings speed at the halfback position in Majeristan's 4-5-1 formation. Warriors FC of Majeristan's largest city Henriabad have begun negotiations with Amad to man their backline.
4 Omar Joussaef (34). Age may have caught up to him as far as the Woodstock Wild were concerned, but Joussaef still brings speed that few players in the Majeristani semipro leagues can match. His years with the Wild gave him the savvy to face some of the finest talent in the world.
5 Bartolomeo Mustafa (37). Team captain. Unlike the Wild, which is embarking on a youth movement, the Portland Timbers were looking for a seasoned defender; however, Mustafa is not interested in playing sweeper until he's proven himself as the right fullback one last time.
14 Nur Horacio (37). Even though he retired from Division 1 play three years ago, Horacio was still considered by Mashoda the best right halfback with Majeristani papers.
6 Sarai Lujema (32). Though there was great controversy throughout Majeristan over having a female player on the team, she earned a spot for being able to play all four back line positions or sweeper in a 3-5-2.
16 Bevan bin Hessam (39). On an old defence, he's the oldest player and has been chosen strictly to provide depth for his team.

Midfielders
7 Osiris Benoit (25). A hard-nosed, rugged defensive midfielder, Benoit has been known to draw his share of cautions. Mashoda has been on him to control his temper, but when he's playing right, he's shutting down playmaking midfielders the world over.
9 Joe Taylor (26). The son of assistant coach Roger Taylor, there was controversy among the team for a non-Muslim being on the team, but Horacio held a meeting with Taylor and the team to clear the air. Taylor is now accepted among his teammates for his dangerous play on the left flank.
12 Sandalio Istali (24). Sandalio is the designated right footed free kick taker and has a rocket that can bend into the net from up to 35 yards out. He's been known to overrun his share of balls, however.
10 Hasse Ayanbede (23). With great inventiveness as a playemaker that belies his youth, Ayanbede was the only choice for playmaking midfielder in Mashoda's 4-4-2 formation. He still needs to learn to not be rattled by aggressive defensive midfielders.
13 Jaidev Djorki (22). Without Majeristan fielding a Under 21 programme, Djorki will have to learn on the job, but he's working hard on improving his defence so he can earn a spot in the starting 11 sooner, rather than later.
15 Ricky Spriggs (23). Despite the name, he is a full-blood Muslim, though he was raised by Sarzonian adopted parents. Brings a touch of the discipline he learned from a long ago coaching clinic put on by then-Sarzonia coach Dave Wilson.

Forwards
11 Hakan el Dajani (26). In the 20 games he played in the Majeristani semipro league, he scored 24 goals and is one of the most dangerous players with a header this side of Crystilakere.
15 Akamu Rasefjani (24). Blinding speed and a lethal left-booted shot are Rasefjani's biggest assets. His youth is his biggest drawback at the moment.
17 Mahli Noguni (27). Even though he's the most experienced forward on the roster, he has a partying streak and that cost him a spot on the starting 11. Otherwise, he has been developing some football savvy in his time in New Daurmont under Dave Wilson's half-brother.
Nedalia
03-03-2006, 16:07
The Nedalia Lions

The Lions will be playing a +5 Attacking style.

THE GAFFER:

Brent Vent
- The 3rd ever manager to take over the reigns of the Lions, Vent is as celebrated a coach as the original Lions in-charge man himself, Randy Gamman. Having led the U21 Lions to their only championship in U21 World Cup 16, Vent replaces Bilal Hachem, who stepped down after having a horrible qualifying campaign in World Cup 26 (although he did advance Nedalia to the Cup of Harmony Semi-Finals). Vent is getting up there in terms of age, but if the Nedalian FA believes that he is long overdue the chance to guide the Lions to the World Cup. Also had a stint as the last ever manager of the now defunct U21 Sarzonia team.

GOALKEEPERS:

Hard Dans (25 caps): Butetown Dragons (Bettia), 28 years old. Has earned his reputation as one of the best GKs in the Apex League, which has given him the opportunity to start for the Lions. The most talented keeper to come out of Nedalia since Derrell Lynch, he has made the Number 1 jersey his own.

Jim Brown (8 caps): Rappor GK, 29 years old. The best Nedalian GK in the Premier League, backed up Lynch and now backing up Dans.

DEFENSE:

Gradd Corona (39 caps/0 goals): Brickell LB, 23 years old. The most consistent Left Back in the Premier League, he is the backbone of his club’s defence. He is also one of the most chased after defenders in the entire league, but as of yet, Brickell have been reluctant to sell. His crossing ability seems to be getting better all the time, and his impressive strength makes him ideal for defensive duties.

Ben Turner (32 caps/1 goal): Rappor CD, 22 years old. Cole Zenith’s replacement has yet to find the right amount of consistency for the national team, although he showed marked improvement in his last few games. Has all the physical and mental talent to become even better than the legend he replaced, but has to learn to apply it into the games. Still, he is very young and experienced enough to know what he needs to do, and determined enough to improve to the level expected of him.

Mohammed Khadra (62 caps/5 goals): Shoreland United CD, 29 years old. Has become the heart of the Nedalian defense, and on many occasions, the only thing going right with the back four. The main complaint about him was his lack of consistency, but that has faded, making it very hard to spot a weakness with this former U21 captain and champion. Widely considered the 2nd best defender, after Zenith, to come out of Nedalia, and still has time to become the best ever.

Hans Lamm (78 caps/2 goals): Honsfield Athletic RD, 30 years old. Took a step back last year, after battling through nagging injuries that kept him from playing at the level expected of him. Was previously Nedalia’s most reliable player, but seemed to lose a step during the past qualifying campaign. Has promised he is now injury-free and ready to prove that he is, once again, the most reliable and consistent player Nedalia has.

Boris Tulawski (uncapped): Andestranne LD, 19 years old. Broke into the first team of his club and was its Player of the Year.

Stevenson (16 caps/0 goals): Brickell CD, 29 years old. Has been a backup for the two central defenders since the beginning, and cherishes his role. One of the most steady players on the squad.

Khalil Khasem (9 caps/0 goals): Porasse RD, 20 years old. Originally impressed in AOCAF 11, but since has proven to be quite the player. Young with immense potential.

MIDFIELD:

Nene (102 caps/37 goals): Inland Peaks (Vilita) LM, 29 years old. Its hard to believe that Nene is almost 30 years old, but the inevitable truth of aging affects even the best of us. Still, its hard to tell, as he has shown no signs of slowing down yet. While his endeavors in Vilita have not gone all his way, there has been massive support back home to bring Nedalia’s golden child back home to finish off his career in the Premier League. Sublime talent, the best Nedalian to have ever touched a football.

Trent Hardman (79 caps/7 goals): Akani Sands (Bettia) DM, 30 years old. The captain, the man in charge. Currently plying his trade in Bettia, the rock the sits behind the Lions’ creativity has never been better. He goes into this qualifying campaign as the leader and heart of the team. Attacks, defends, and lives up to his name.

Innit Point (93 caps/12 goals): Internashionale (Starblaydia) AM, 29 years old. One of the Liga Starblaydia's best midfielders, made the move out of Nedalia when he was only 20. The small complaints about his defensive misgivings can be forgiven by his superb attacking play. Can be classified as Nedalia’s main playmaker, with nearly every Lions attack going through him.

Constantine (54 caps/11 goals): Shoreland United RM, 25 years old. The current Premier League Midfielder of the Year. Pace, shooting ability, dribbling skills, and a mature head. Constantine has evolved into one of the most complete player on the squad, with many claiming that he will be the best to ever come out of Nedalia before the end of it all. Still has ways to go, however, and still has to prove he can win at the international level.

Don Downing (60 caps/6 goals): Carlesa LM/RM, 31 years old. The most versatile midfielder on the squad is slowly, but surely, letting age get in the way of his performance. His consistency dipped slightly last year, and what has been Nedalia’s first man off the bench, in most cases, will not be looking at perhaps his last run with the team.

Houdini (29 caps/5 goals): Shoreland United DM, 23 years old. A defensive midfielder with the pace of a winger, ability of an attacking midfielder, and the scoring ability of a striker. What of his defence, then? Its coming along as well, though still not up to what he should be for his position. Still, when he is on the field, Nedalia look one extra step faster and very dangerous going forward.

Culmer (uncapped): Aanjar M, 22 years old. Gets into the squad on the strength of his performance in Year Five of the Premier League. Young and talented, he will get his chance to shine.

FORWARDS:

Tim James (69 caps/37 goals): Caledon Simpson (Krytenia), 26 years old. Struggled on the international stage last time around, and will be looking to redeem himself in grand fashion. Nedalia’s most gifted striker and goal-scorer has done wonders since moving to Krytenia, but now has to prove himself capable of leading the Nedalian attack into the World Cup.

Jimmy Kelly (uncapped): Captera Athletic, 22 years old. Two time reigning Young Player of the Year, Kelly broke the Premier League single season goal-scoring record when he netted in 33 of them this year. Burst onto the scene in Year Four, and catapulted himself to superstar heights in just two seasons. Will get the chance to do more of that for the Lions, as he has been placed in the starting role without any previous experience.

Conteras (19 caps/5 goals): Groftanne, 29 years old. Wasn’t as consistent as many had hoped he would be after winning the Striker of the Year award during Year Four, but still serviceable. On the club scene, remains one of the most dangerous marksmen in the Premiership, but has struggled to find his proper footing for the Lions. Still, one of the top strikers in Nedalia, he has retained a spot on the team.

Hrjove Brando (11 caps/3 goals): Honsfield Athletic, 28 years old. Another fine season saw him lift the Premier League Title for the first time, and will be looking to take that confidence with him into the World Cup qualifying stages.

The Dominion

Team Uniforms: Home and away jerseys (http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/8923/worldcupjerserys1yn.jpg), and a little rhyme to help you remember, becuase they look so alike.

Style: With a 5-3-2 playing style, we have a -3 modifier for our defensive tactics.

Basic Tactic: Score a goal and then put everything on the defensive. If the opposition is to score a goal to tie or two to take the lead, offensive measures will again be taken. However, the enemy cannot score if you have the ball. Pudite players spend long amounts of game time simply passing anything in their possesion to eachother, only scoring at the most obvious of oppurtunities, unless they are losing.

Coaches: The three coaches spend a majority of their time with the keepers and defenders, which are observed as being some of the most important players on the feild, as well as, on this team, the most talented.

Head Coach - Obeshchan
Assistant Coach - Chabrech
Assistant Coach - Tefenekov

Players: The twentey-two players that make up the first international football team of the Dominion are all the same age, 21, and have all known eachother as long as they can remember. As is usual for most everyone in the Dominion, these men were raised to do what they do, and these men were all brought up to play this game, in whatever position they do. Each has near excelent physical statistics for his role, and their coordination is excelent. The only thing this team does not have is experience. They have only ever played games against other teams raised in the Dominion, and so the teams of World Cup 27 may surprise them.

This is because while in the Dominion any reference to another person is done by their serial code. Nobody really has a name, they are assigned to important people leaving the nation however, as I explained earlier

The Kingdom of Elrich

After narrowly missing out on World Cup 25 and then failing dismally in World Cup 26 qualifying the Kingdom of Elrich will be hoping for better luck this time round. Mike Bassett's men were unlucky to miss out on qualification for World Cup 25 by just 2 points but suffered some horrible shock defeats last time out and only avoided finishing bottom of the unlucky Group 13 on goal difference. The moustached man has been under pressure for a considerable period and it is time for his team to deliver.

Bassett as expected drops Frank N'Stein and Danny Adams from the squad entirely after their on the pitch brawl. Peter Spinks and Norbert Scaramanga drop out of the starting line-up and are replaced by Hullabaloo AFC's Methuselah and Sweet as a Moose's Ringo Bingo respectively. Other new inclusions in the squad include Hullabaloo's versatile captain Nigel Wiggle, Sweet as a Moose FC's centre-half hard-man Barabbas, and goalkeeper Pingue Pongue.

And finally confusion reigns over former Bazalonian captain Peter Hobble. After a confrontation with the Wolfman in the last Cup of Harmony campaign, it appears as if he is now a Werewolf. If this is the case, it is possible that Hobble would be eligible to represent Elrich - due to the fact that, by Elrichian law, when registering himself as a Werewolf, as he is regarded as a new citizen, he will have the choice between keeping his past nationality, or changing it to where he was "born" as a werewolf. And considering he has already left a Bazalonia game and scored for the Elrichians, his loyalty could lie with the Badgers. Hobble has been registered in the Elrichian squad for the forthcoming tournament - if he chooses to represent Elrich, he can do so in the forthcoming campaign.

MANAGER - MIKE BASSETT
Previous Managerial Posts - Peterborough, Norwich, England, Wirral County
Bio - After famously guiding England to the semi final of the Brazilian World Cup, Bassett was greeted back home in his native country as a hero, and he famously announced he would continue the role as manager for "4 more years". Sadly, this never materialised as the FA announced that they would not be offering Bassett a new contract. The Government of Elrich saw their opportunity and beat off fierce competition to sign Bassett as National Manager in June 2005. A Baptism of Fire and a World Cup qualifying campaign later the jury was still out on Bassett. He's like marmite, you love him or you hate him - his team are inconsistant to say the least. A poor start to World Cup 25 Qualifying campaign led to a press campaign calling for his head. Bassett reacted in style, impressive qualifying form, including historic victories over the mighty Trurori and old friends Hurfordia, led the Badgers to the brink of qualification. It wasn't to be, and Bassett's men missed out by a mere 2 points. A dissapointing Cup of Harmony campaign followed, with the side failing to progress from the group stages. With the nation's hopes high, and potential successor the basketball coach Jonathan Cecil-Shoe gaining media support, qualification was the only thing which would definitely keep Bassett in his position, unfortunately it didn't materialise. In fact, the qualification campaign was a nightmare. The controversy surrounding the inclusion of the Wolfman in that World Cup 26 squad almost cost Bassett his job, but after that issue finally subsided Danny Adams and Frank N'Stein were involved in a disgraceful on-pitch brawl. Despite all the problems, it looked at one point like Elrich had a chance to qualify but defeats against the likes of lowly D2R, Nezza and Amorah meant a second-bottom placed finish. Bassett failed to relieve some pressure through a Cup of Harmony campaign, yet has he gained a star player?

Preferred Formation - Four, Four, F****** Two

ASSISTANT - Dave Dodds
COACHES - Zoltan Pepper, Pete Zaria and ex-player Vinnie Jones
PHYSIO - Wilma Leggrowback

THE SQUAD

1 GORDON BURNS
This famous news presenter and ex-presenter of the Krypton Factor has his own cult following back home in his native Elrich known as Team GB. Gordon is a favourite with the Elrich crowd and expecially the song-writers. Burns is calm and collected with safe hands and incredible shot stopping ability. Has impressed in his international exploits so far

2 BARRY SCOTT
Fresh from his advertising exploits with Cillit Bang, the Badger's fullback is famous for his stout, resolute defending and attacking flair. Despite a knee injury which has kept him plagued Scott in the past, Barry reassures the press that he is GOOD AS NEW!!!

4 METHUSELAH
The clever centre-half is greatly respected in Elrichian Football. Although previously thought to lack the physical attributes to make it at an International level, there is no doubting the man's commitment, temperament and knowledge. Bassett will be hoping he is the perfect calming influence on his centre-half counterpart Wolfman.

666 THE WOLFMAN
Is the Wolfman the first of his species to take part in a World Cup? Replacing the retiring Vinnie Jones with an even more intimidating defender would at first glance seem impossible, but Bassett created an international debate when he included him in his World Cup 26 squad. The ferocious defender becames the latest in the line of Elrichian sportsmen/species to emerge from the nations large circus community. Without doubt he has the ability to "make his mark" not only on football, but on the players he comes up against (and plays with) as well. Although his strength, power and energy is unquestionable he remains a huge gamble. Discipline is a huge problem and the Circus Bohemians' man is also prone to "howlers" of mistakes. Did he bite Peter Hobble? With Bazalonia pressing charges, the Wolfman could find himself out of the squad and behind bars.

3 Ringo Bingo
The young Hullabaloo left-back has really impressed this season and is rewarded with a starting berth in Mike Bassett's side. His pace, flair, strength and catchy name brought him to the attention of the Badger's Manager and Bingo will be hoping to convert his domestic form into international performances.

6 ROBIN BANKS
Surprise inclusion, but only due to the fact he has been allowed to leave his sentence at the National State prison for the fourth time in successive tournaments to join up with the squad. There is no doubting Banks' on-field fiery ability, but it is off the field where his record is less impressive. Banks was, until his call-up, serving another two-year sentence due to his part in an attempted Bank Robbery. On the pitch the central midfielder is a great ballwinner, strong in the tackle and uses his physical ability to the edge of the laws, and sometimes beyond them.

7 MATTHEW "DIDDY" ALLEN
The 4 foot wonderkid is only 16 years of age but has burst onto the international scene with a bang. His useful knack of being able to run through defenders legs can only be to his advantage, but he is not exactly an aerial threat. The right winger is renowned for his dribbling and crossing.

8 JOHN SPINKS
The fiery red-head midfielder in his earlier days was thought to be named SKNIPS due to a printing error on his shirt, where his name was spelt backwards. The elder of the Spinks brothers contributes goals and assists from midfield and forms a useful partnership with the more defensive Robin Banks.

99 ZEBEDEE
The dazzling, skilful and tricky winger is from Jamaican descent and his dazzling skills quite literally dazzle everyone. Despite often being laughed at by opposition fans for his thin "chickenish" legs, he is a real Bobby Dazzler (except he's not called Bobby). His golden boots do half the dazzling for him. Often decides to dazzle an extra 5 players for the fun of it rather than having a shot.

81 ELRICH (C)
Legend. The King and leader of the country will carry the nations hopes on his shoulders. Although not physically built for such a sport, it is his intelligence which makes him special, he sees things others cannot, and his finishing is unchallenged. His incredible footballing exploits abroad with Busan Icons earned him such Heroic status that not a street, but the Nation itself was named after him, and he was announced leader of his Kingdom. All time leading goalscorer, but increasing in age and status as leading striker with the emergence of Jamie Mudge. Will always be a legend.

11 JAMIE MUDGE
From non-league obscurity to the national side in the matter of minutes, the Tiverton Town striker was a surprise addition to the World Cup 24 squad. Despite from being far from a house-hold name in Elrich, the young striker scored an immense 59 goals in his clubs promotion through the non-league ranks. His loyalty to his hometown club has been incredible, bordering on insane. He has turned down offers to join Premier League sides the Real Deal and Scumchester United and manager Mike Bassett insisted that Mudge had the talent to perform on the big stage. Bassett was proved right, a sensation at the World Cup 24 qualifiers Mudgie followed this up with a bucketful of goals in World Cup 25 qualification, including a memorable hat-trick against Hurfordia and the winner away at Trurori. An injury pagued campaign last time round saw Dan Singh-Queen more involved, but Mudge remains the first-choice.

SUBS

20 NORBERT SCARMANGA
Offering attacking threat from left full-back is something the international side has lacked in recent years, but unfortunately the introduction of the crossing-genious didn't prove the key to World Cup Qualification and the Norbert is out of the starting 11.

5 PETER SPINKS
The younger of the Spinks brothers, the stocky centre-half is respected for organising the Badger's backline, as well as his own tackling and heading attributes. The no-nonsense defender's motto is "If in doubt, hoof it out". However he is renowned for the odd flash of brilliance.

10 JIMMY GRIMBLE
He no longer needs his magic boots and the Manchester City youngster despite not breaking into his club team, has already established himself as supporting striker for his national side. His skills and pace are legendary. Last years fallout with a set of Elrichian fans after continually being shouted at to "Pass it to bloody Elrich" appear to have now ended. Despite a reasonable international record, the emergence of Jamie Mudge has pushed Grimble back onto the bench.

12 GEZ MURPHY
Talented both footed winger, who can play on the left or right. His flair and set-pieces often make him a useful option to turn a game around from the bench. Has he many more chances to impress though?

13 HUBERT BUSBY JNR
This 1 eyed, 1 legged, 1 armed goalkeeper was always the last to be picked at school. The people of Elrich pray he will not be called into action. Elrich insists that Busby's 5,000,000 donation to the National FA was nothing to do with his inclusion in the squad.

14 RICHARD HODGINS
SUBMARINE, SUBMARINE, He's the famous Richard Hodgins and he lives in a Submarine, SUBMARINE, SUBMARINE, he's the famous Richard Hodgins and he lives in a Submarine. What the Navy FC midfielder lacks in footballing ability, he more than makes up for with his legendary song. A National Hero.

15 DAN SINGH-QUEEN
Although his celebrations make Michael Jackson look like Scooby Doo, the agile striker has yet to really get going with the national side. He finally opened his account for the Badgers in World Cup 24 - albeit after having made a complete fool of himself impressively celebrating 3 disallowed goals earlier in the tournament. World Cup 26 and the following Cup of Harmony were breakthrough campaigns for Singh-Queen, and there are many calling for him to be a regular starter.

16 JEREMIAH After banging on the international door for a number of years, the cousin of Zebedee is now established in Mike Bassett's squad. A similar player in style to his cousin Zebedee, the pacey trickey winger is able to play on either side and will hope to play a part.

17 CORNELIUS CUCUMBER
Cucumber has impressed for the Elrichian side Sweet as a Moose FC this season and the versatile player, is at home at full-back or in midfield. Hailing from an extremely upper-class background, Cornelius upset his parents when he rejected his father's sport of "Polo" to persue a career in the "common" game of football. Technically very tidy.

18 SCATMAN JOHN
The Team Snavsninkstencottiddy defender is included as direct competition to the aging Barry Scott at right-back. Critics would like to see the man named after a dodgy nineties pop-star established in the first-team, and Scatman John will hope to make that right-back slot his own by the end of the competition.

19 NIGEL WIGGLE
Wiggle wriggles his way into the squad after impressive scoring performances for Hullabaloo AFC in the NSFA Cup. At home in midfield or attack the young natural finisher is expected to be in the starting 11 before too long.

21 PINGUE PONGUE
The Sweet as a Moose goalkeeper comes into the squad as better cover for Gordon Burns than billionaire Hubert Busby Junior. If anything were to happen to Burns, Bassett now has adequate cover in the agile stopper.

and finally......

99 PETER HOBBLE
Is he Elrichian? Is he a werewolf? When can he play for Elrich? Will he choose Bazalonia or the Kingdom? Having already opened his Elrichian account without officially playing a game, fans are hoping the star striker chooses the latter. By registering Hobble in his squad, it means that if Hobble does choose to represent the Kingdom, he can do so in the following campaign.

THE HOLY EMPIRE OF JON PARKIN

The Holy Empire of Jon Parkin burst onto the footballing world arena when they came 2 minutes away from qualifying for the semi-finals of their first major competition, the 18th Under 21 World Championships. They did lose in extra time eventually, but the team that took part in that Championship have matured, and are now members of the senior side. This will be one of their first major senior competitions, due to the gap that was taken from the international arena since the Under 21 Tournament, as the Most High himself, needed to put his efforts into his club football in England. The nation has been accused of just playing route one football, with their two strikers 6ft 4 and 7ft respectfully, but they are coming to this competition to prove that they can play football.

THE STAFF
MANAGER - BRIAN HORTON
A good friend of the Emperor from his days at Macclesfield Town, Brian is one of the few managers to reach 1000 competitive games, with spells at Hull City, Oxford United, Manchester City, Huddersfield Town, Brighton and Hove Albion, Port Vale and Macclesfield. His vast experience and tactical knowledge will be a key advantage for the players. Many members of the nation will be looking to this competition as his focus on the international job has been questioned, due to his job for Macclesfield in England/

THE SQUAD

Formation = 4-4-2
Style modifier = +3

1. 'THE BROADHURST MONK'
Nobody knows his real name, but the 'Monk' was a surprise inclusion, due to him having to be release from prison to enter the training camp. The 'Monk' caught the Nations eye when the guards famously played the cons, captained by Danny Meehan. He was extradited to Jon Parkin, and has now been here long enough to play. He is a great natural talent with fantastic shot stopping ability, but his weakness lies in mad runs up field, and his disciplinary record, as he was banned from football in England for fly kicking the whole opposition squad with his mad kung-fu. In Jon Parkin he plays for Mean Machine, set up by The Monk and Danny Meehan, they are an infamous team and have caused many injuries.

2. RALPH LITTLE
The star of the Royle Family as Anthony, his passion has always been football. And after his man-of-the-match performance for the Celebs in Sky One's the match, Brian Horton snapped him up to play for Jon Parkin. Playing at right back, his pace, dribbling and solid defensive abilities make him a key player in the squad.

3. WALLACE 'THE BIG CHEESE'
A fan of Preston North end, Wallace has left his beloved Gromit who plays upfield for the nation, Wallace is a solid defender, not great at going forward but a useful member of the squad. His sponsors are Wensledales', which suits him as he gets a free lifetime supply of Wensledale, but would like to have a cracker sponsor. Due to Wallace’s age, many are seeing this to be his last competition and are questioning his starting position.

4. OSCAR 'THE GROUCH' ALVAREZ
From a very poor background, Oscar's heart warming story of rising from his squalid conditions to playing for his national side is legendary among the people of Jon Parkin. Before Jon Parkin became ruler, he lived inside a bin and had no possessions. But ever since Jon Parkin came into power, he has been given a second chance, for absolutely no one has poverty in the Holy Empire of Jon Parkin. Jon Parkin is the best leader we could ever hope for. God bless Jon Parkin.

5. SMEE
The captain of Navy FC, who are challengers for the title in the top league of Jon Parkin, Smee is a vastly experienced player, who has played for the nation at every level. Although not the quickest player on the field and his lack of aerial ability, Smee makes up for this by his ability to read the game, great positioning, commands the defence and has a brilliantly timed tackle. Smee has announced that this will be his last competition and will retire at the end. But he added that he is hoping to go out on a last ‘yarrrr’.

6. DANNY MEEHAN
The captain of Mean Machine as they took on the cons in England, was another one of the players, along with the Monk, who caught the eye of Brian Horton and was extradited here, where he set up Mean Machine, who were recently promoted to the Premier League. A fierce competitor and a great ball winner, he has formed a great partnership with Ron Burgundy, with Danny sitting and allowing Ron to burst forward.

7. KEVIN TONKINSON
The Geordie who loves his booze, thought that his career was washed up, but the faith shown by Mike Bassett during his time as England manager was noble, although many thought stupid at the time. 'Tonker' did repay him in the end with a goal in the last minute against Argentina. But after being banned from playing football in England in the FA, due to a drunken Tonker getting in a fight with the referee. FIFA then allowed him clear to play for other countries, and Jon Parkin were the only nation to take the risk. Brian Horton and the people of Jon Parkin will be hoping it pays off.

8. JON PARKIN (C)
A living legend, ruler and God of the Nation. The hopes of the people of Jon Parkin, will mainly rest upon his shoulders, which he probably can handle due to his enormous size of 6ft 4, and weighing in at 13st 7. Although he does not have electric pace, his aerial ability is second to none and can provide a moment of magic trickery. After guiding Macclesfield Town of League 2 to the play-offs in 2005 with a whopping 23 goals, he earned a big money move to Hull City of the Championship, where he scored 3 goals in his first 3 games. If he carries this form into the international arena, who knows what can happen.

9. CHEWBACCA
Standing at over 7 ft Chewbacca is a striker who will cause any defence problems with his sheer physique and his aerial presence. Chewbacca started out as a centre half, who was used as an emergency striker was on phenomenal form in the 18th Under 21 World Championships and has since become an out and out striker. Parkin and Chewbacca together are huge and defences will have to be wary.

10. RON BURGUNDY
The news tycoon moved from his hometown in Chicago to the Holy Empire of Jon Parkin. He was followed by the whole of the Channel 4 News team and is the hottest news crew on television. He set up the Channel 4 News team, with Brick Tamland, Brian Fantana and Champ Kind, all of who are featured in the international side as well. Even his wife, Veronica Corningstone, is the physio for the side. Ron is an exuberant player, with bags of flair and loves to get forward. But, Ron will have to watch his tongue after being in disciplinary problems for abusing referees and their assistants.

11. GROMIT
Gromit is the quietest member of the team and is very loyal. He is the type of player who will never give up on a ball, and chases down players. He is known to occasionally be dirty, and literally nibbles away at your ankles. He is not an aerial presence, but four legs is an advantage, for players do not know which leg he is going to use as he is quadruple footed.

THE SUBS

12.GARBH GALLAGHER
The young tricky left winger of Irish descent is a very hot prospect for the future, and his club Team GB, where he plays alongside Rhodri Jones. Team GB managed to hold on to him rejecting big money bids from the Premier League, and mainly due to his help in the competition, won promotion into the top flight in Jon Parkin football. A player with good pace and an excellent cross and corner make him a useful player off the bench.

13. BRICK TAMLAND
Not the cleverest member of the side, but Brick is a useful member, as he is the back up keeper to the Monk, so is likely get a piece of the action as the Monk will no doubt get sent off once in this tournament. A good agile goalie but has been known to make stupid mistakes, like pick up the ball outside the back under no pressure and stand outside the net.

14. BRIAN FANTANA
Another member of Ron Burgundy’s Channel 4 News Team. Brian is a fast striker, who offers a different option to the two giant target men of Parkin and Chewbacca up front. He is not a prolific goalscorer, but creates chances for the rest of the team. He can also play on the wings in midfield, and many believe that due to Kevin Tonkinson’s alcohol problems, he may get the nod in front of Tonker and Garbh.

15.CHAMP KIND
The sport presenter on the Channel 4 News Team knows the game very well, as he has to report on football every day for his job. He is versatile, and can play anywhere along the back line. He is very strong in the tackle, good in the air but has a severe lack of pace. Many are seeing Champ to be the replacement for Smee, who has announced this to be his last major competition.

The Lowland Clans Stars - The ASLC National Team
Manager: Westley Stjepan
Formation: 3-5-2 - Style +1
* denotes starters
C denotes Captain
Strikers
29 - Ryley Bloudin, Castle of Lisbon*
Ryley Bloudin at 23 is one of the most talented strikers in the Allied States. His first start with the team was a little rough, but after AOCAF he settled right in. His experience in three international tournaments will aid him in the years to come.
08 - Nicolae Foma, Belgrad West*
After his beautiful starring role last World Cup, he has proved himself a strong international player capable of playing with the best. Nicolae's sheer physical presence and power, as weel as sizable skill on the ball, means that he is a very dangerous man for those who are not careful.
44 - Aonghus Jonathan Darrel, Heartland Central
The leading striker for Heartland, he championed their run to the premiership after a nearly life-ending car accident in London during New Years. A strong striker whose eye of the field keeps defenders guessing how he made it past them.

Midfielders
07 – Quentin Mackallen, Graham City FC*C
Mackallen, the new captain of the international squad, is an older player at thirty, is a player of imposing size and presence. A very physical player, he uses his size to make massive runs up the pitch and is very strong on the ball. Many pundits are worried about his potential for losing the armband after too many yellows, but his calm manner and strong leadership skills will help him keep a fairly green squad under control
11 – Phillip Konstantinoppolis, Highlanders*
A pickup from Thessolaniki Forrest, Konstantinoppolis is one of the most skilled ball 'hubs' in the States. His passing skills are second to none, and can thread the ball through almost any hole he can find. He was the assist leader for both League Championship and Premiership for three seasons in a row. He has a known temper problem and is a little of a loose cannon, but Mackallen is being banked on to keep him under control
15 - Sidney Pollack, Liverpool City*
The only player with experience in the midfield on the international stage, Pollack hasn't been a standout on any of the stage of the competition, but rumors from those close around him that he has been training with former Stjepan all season long to be in shape for this season. We'll see soon if his extra training paid off.
04 - Graham Mackenzie, Grand Captiva
Graham Mackenzie is like a cross between Mackallen in size and Stjepan himself in ball skill. He is still rather young at 21 and lacking experience because he's only just started starting at Grand Captiva, but he is grinding very much for a chance to get some serious playing time on the field
06 - Xavier Nathanson, Limassol United
Not expected to get much playing time on the field this time arounf, Nathanson simply just isn't as good as the others on this team. He is a jack-of-all-trades, but simply not a master at anything. He still is a fine all around player, but he lacks the talent and skill that permeates a lot of the team.

Wingers
03 – Keefe Lavrentios, Okehampton Citizen*
02 – Aleksander Kostandin, Glasgow United*
33 - Stevan Dragan, Graham City FC
36 - Elias Stephianos, Grand Captiva
Central Defenders
23 – John Pellaeon, Glasgow United*
26 – Nikka Lexeria, Sheppard's Well
Wing backs
40 – Nomiki Kyriakos, Kolossi Fields*
20 – Gjergj Bashkim, Edinbrough Rovers*
25 – Shae Gareth, Grand Captiva
24 – Kevin Gardner, Liverpool City
Keepers
00 - Heath Porter, Okehampton Citizen*
99 – David McManus, Bolton Wanderers

Roster Notes:

- There are two new players on the team: Daniel Abigantus (Midfielder #18) and Thomas Strazzabosco (Defender #12). Leaving the team are Defender Salvius DeMaranville, who has retired, and Forward Phillip Gersh, who has been dropped from the team. Gersh getting dropped is probably due to his poor work as a replacement for Ambrose Wainwight.

- Daniel Abigantus will see alot of play replacing Ambrose Wainwright should he look like he'll get in trouble. All the back-up defenders should see some playing time. Rainbold Shiflett will only get onto the field should Deneed get injured or severly worn-out.

- Keyne Hawkins leapt over Mark Latalien on the depth chart to be the fifth defender most likely because of his good work taking over for Wainwright whenever he was pulled. It seems the staff has soured on Latalien a bit, but don't want to drop him because of his experience.

Home Stadium:

- Phaeton Stadium
Phaeton Stadium is the largest stadium in Becquerelia. Located in the capital city of Roentgen, it serves as the home field for the Roentgen United. The stadium seats 71,571 fans. Phaeton, the stadium's sponser, is Becquerelia's largest automobile company, producing quality cars since 1924.

Apologetic Kittens
05-03-2006, 03:24
A little late, but the Kittens squad has been finalised as follows:

The simple four backline and diamond midfield present a +1 style modifier as the wingers push forward.

Head Coach:
Bobby Davis: 43: Brought in to replace Wilson, he's hoping for success

Goalkeepers:
Darren Alington: 32: First choice goalkeeper and solid between the sticks. Coming to the end of his career, and is unlikely to make the next cup.
Ronnie "Wets the bed" Weeter: 23: A couple games in World Cup Qualifying last time went disastrously wrong for the lad, but shall be hoping to prove his worth here.
Harry Kanaga: 21: Son of legend Horace Kanaga, the young lad stepped in for Alington late in the last World Cup qualifying and the matches ended in two wins and a draw. Could he be lucky for the team?

Right Backs:
Claude Millhouse: 30: Solid at the back, and continues to show his worth.
Edward Polson: 25: Cousin of former Kitten Elroy, and has a lot of pace as an alternative to the strength of Millhouse.

Left Backs:
Jamel Wynter: 25: Quick and agile, he's been known to be light on the tackle, but should cause problems aplenty for any wingers looking to run in.
Robert Campbell: 22: Strong and fast, he's caused more injuries than any player with his disciplinary record should.

Centre Backs:
Lester Ashmore: 31: Finally cemented his place in the first XI, but how long does he have left?
Edward Kiefer: 21: Top young talent, his speed causes many problems for the opposition..
Harry Reed: 17: Powerful and a real threat to opposing strikers

Defensive Midfielders:
Lee Roberts: Captain: 31: The heart of the squad, he proves himself every game.
Jonathan Unk: 26: With Roberts in the team he may not get a chance to play. But he's a top player, showing why this is the strongest area of the AK squad.

Right Wingers:
Edward Newman: 20: Widely regarded as the best player produced in the nation, he's practically unstoppable.
Alphonso Chase: 24: The right winger for many years, he's been unlucky to occupy the position of Newman.

Left Wingers:
Raul Chase: 26: Quick. It's the only word to describe him.
Darrell Schofield: 29: Not much to say about him, really. He gets the job done with hard work.

Attacking Midfielders:
Enrique Monroe: 25: He pushes past everything in his way, but a tendency to get carried away with tricks may cost him. Showed some marvellous footwork late in qualifying. Shame it's taken him so long to fully blossom.
Anton "Ant" Aultman: 21: At 5'6" he is known for turning up where you least expect him.

Strikers:
Dewey Gronko: 26: Fast and energetic he perfectly is happy running at goal the whole game.
Jerome Moore: 28: Gronko's speedy compatriot, they've developed a strong bond since Iron Boot left the team after the qualifiers.
Daniel Leichter: 16: A new young striker in the mold of Iron Boot. Great hopes rest on the lads powerful right foot.
Johnny Telence: 30: Strong, he is used only sparingly when a different approach is needed to the quick frontline.

Home games to be played in the newly completed Backstaffen Arena, with seating capacity for an incredibly 62,000 fans

Algal States finally releases roster for world cup 27

Algal States Epiphytes

Stadium:Algal States home games are played in the brand new 60000 seat Epiphyte Dome. The Dome is a covered stadium that floats in the middle of harvester harbour in the capital city of Letete. It is generally pretty stable but if a large ship comes by it has been known to rock on its moorings, visiting teams have been known to have a hard time adjusting to these random and frequent events without first taking seasickness pills and most of the time even that doesn't help.

Coaching Staff

James Wash 70 years old - Despite rumors of his retirement, he has returned as coach for at least another year. The most influentual person in Fmjphoenix sports, he is loved by all and then some. Has helped develop some great stars from a very young age.

Mariano Rodriquez 52 years old - After coaching the Vanguard Eagles for a few season, Rodriquez returns to the Vikings as assisstant to his former coach. With his seemingly abundant amount of energy, he will help keep the atmopshere in the Vikings locker room plesant.

Gary Accrew 67 years old - Fitniss coach of the Vikings since coming from Liverpool England in the Vikings inagural cup. With his healthey routine, he keeps the Vikings in top notch shape and has them ready for anything. Helps break young players of bad habits before they even start.

Starting Eleven
3-4-3 ninjitsu

---Goalkeeper---

#4 Justin Keys 21 years old (Ariot Lupes) - Played under the radar for many years until his breakout season were he lead the FDL in saves, clean sheets, and had the lowest number of goals scored against.

---Defenders---

#14 Brian Bash 21 years old (Takil Lines) - Son of Vikings defender Bobby Bash. Has the same inherent slide abilities as his father. Youngest player to become a starter for the Vikings. Helps form a solid young defense for an offenseive team.

#8 Kayla Mik’ala 28 years old (Anadyr, Hockey Canada) - Top defender in Fmjphoenix. She sticks to her mark like flys stick to shit. When the ball is moving, you can always find her right there.

#12 Kerien Haylcon 25 years old (RFC Vrelt) - All around solid player. He doesn't excel in any one aspect, but seems to perform best when stopping opponents from going forward.

---Midfielders---

#6 Laura Boyd 27 years old (Iskara Daii, Starblaydia) - Lead the Junior Vikings to U21WC19 championship with her solid play. Lots of speed gets her all over the field. Wherever the ball is, she is.

#5 Desmond Howard 22 years old (Vanguard Eagles) Despite his young age, he is known for his clutch play. Last season he scored the winning goal in time stoppage 5 times, a league record.

#13 Brady Wayne 29 years old (Sunnyslope FC) - After barely missing out on the national team last run, Wayne finds himself in the starting eleven. His ability is beginning to show more and more and will help create lots of opportunities for the Vikings.

#14 Andrew Jenkins 23 years old (Ariot Lupes) - First teen to make the team, let alone break the starting eleven. Has tremendous talant and the FAF thinks that expierence will be the best for him.

---Forwards---

#3 Mike Nolan (C) 37 years old (Irkutsk, Hockey Canada) - Nolan is still the heart and soul of the Vikings. The leading scorer in Fmjphoenix history hopes to add more goals to his resume, along with a championship cup, as that is all that is missing.

#7 Brian Dougood 27 years old (Lopinka, Vilita) - Another great young scorer who helped lead the Junior Vikings to one of their three U21 championships. Hopes to help lead the Vikings to a WC championship

# 11 Siieranu Ijanaeil 30 years old (RFC Vrelt) - Born in Rejistania, but imigrated to Fmjphoenix and has gained citizenship. After helping lead the Junior Vikings to a championship, he has stepped up into a go to guy on this football team. Excellent scorer.
