(OOC: If you are like me, you were probably a tad confused looking at the list and wondering how your team stacked up with the other teams in your group. In order to try and alieviate this confusion, I created this chart right here (http://www.geocities.com/becquerelia/Sports/U21groupings.htm). It includes each teams shooting, keeping, defending, attacking, and stamina skill ratings, divided up into each group.
I'll do a real RPing post tomorrow. I'm going to bed.)

GodMod Any Goalscoring Events
Yellow Card Players
Red Card Francisco Ibanez for anything remotely violent

Notes:
1) There's an odd timeline thing going on here, as you may notice that Jaime Oberlander captained Starblaydia in ASMV's tournament at the age of 29 just recently. So basically Starblaydia's U21WC sides will be a step back in time for a while until I can figure out some way to merge them properly, so as not to ruin my system. Just blame TnUI for his little hosting hiatus, basically.
2) Many of these players can be found in The 'Starblaydi Sports' Category (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Category:Starblaydi_Sports) on the wiki. If they're anybody, they're linked to their article in there. Plus you get grammatical lessons in this note too, this time, so good for you, hope you learned something!
3) The best starting eleven are in bold

Under-21 World Cup 20, Take Two *clap*
The thing about delaying an Under-21 World Cup for over a decade is: you’re not likely to have players left with any international experience. Unless you use complicated time-warp contraption thingamajigs, but that’s going down a slippery slope – before you know it you find yourself feeling up your mom in the back seat of a DeLorean, and unless your mom is really, really cute, that’s not a very comfortable place to be.
So, the sane ones among us start this competition with a virgin squad, a list of names nobody has ever heard of and nobody really cares about. Except, perhaps, for the coach, who’s usually a semi-famous ex-player who has won some awards in his days and is therefore automatically assumed to have the skill to lead a bunch of snotnose nobodies to success.
In Spruitland’s case, Starblaydi Paulo Bachchan – who got fed up with waiting for the Under-21 World Cup to start and went back to his home country, violating his parole – was replaced by Frederic Juneau, who, let’s face it, only die hard football fans will have heard of. Unless you’re a Spruitlander, of course, then you know perfectly well who Juneau is.
The central mid of the Sativa Stoners, where he stayed his entire career, will be best remembered for being Spruitland’s first ever national team captain, and the image of him raising the Baptism of Fire trophy above his head – and nearly dropping it – is one we’ll never forget. Whether that makes him qualified to lead the Bunnies, though, is something that will have to remain to be seen.
“I guess they couldn’t find anyone better,” Juneau responds to that with just a trace of a smile. “Not that I mind, really, the offer came just at the right time. I was about to start a new career at Starbucks, but can’t say I was all too thrilled about that.”
“Bunch of wankers,” is Juneau’s assessment of his team, before quickly asking to retract that statement and replacing it with “a fine group of talented lads.” He picked out a handful as potential stars for the future, though: goalkeeper Vic Varckenboer, straight from the farm where he was the local pig-tossing champion, central defender Rikky Borstel, if you get past him, better check to see if you still have both legs, midfielder Wim Honnegat, the new Frederic Juneau, and both starting strikers, Benji Kloots, step aside Dirk Jools, and Gino Tersago, not that good really, but his twin sister was Miss Spruitland last year and I’ve got a thing for her.
The Bunnies have been drawn into Group C, together with The Solar Association, New Montreal States and An archy, a group that certainly looks survivable on paper.
“We’ll see,” Juneau agrees. “We’ll just go out there trying to score more goals than the opponent. If you manage to do that, you’re almost certain to win the match.”

Age 19
Footed -Left
Number 13
GK-Karson Robben -Close Relative of Arjen Robben he boasts quick one on one skills and his handling and positioning are equally good. He is not that good at shot stopping but can occasionally stop whoppers , and when his reflexes are called upon, they do not normally let him down!
Age 21
Footed-Right
Defence
Number 5
RWB-Karder Wharpenshnieder a quick, strong right back whose attributes do not match his build, he is quick yet strong, he is good in the air but he is small. LWB-Marcel De-La-Lima Carlos
A quick Brazilian defender who can always be relied upon in one on one situations(attacker vs. defender)

Footed-Left
Number -2
CB- Dan McCormack
A strong powerful centre back who fills all the necessary roles for CB.

Milchama Roster Announced
With a such a large gap between U21 Cups the Milchamian roster this time around looks almost nothing like its predeccesor with only the backups, Aaron Kary and Zar Johnson on the squad. Despite this minor setback things look good for the Warriors as a new young talented in rising thru the ranks. Coach Patrice Thibault said, "These kids are completely different then the others I have trained, they have grown up watching Milchama play in World Cups and understand what you need to do to win a World Cup soccer match. I think that this could very well be our golden generation." With that optimisitic comment here is the roster in our standard 3-3-4 formation.
Gk: Kyle Blard- The Goalkeeper for Wickert AFC helped them win the Milchama Cup last year and got him on the national team picture. Now he's hoping to show it was no fluke.
D: Casey Stockholm- Good player, not very flashy but he gets the job done and that's all you can ask out of him. Kind of like a wing back version of Kendric Pevington.
D: Chase Mergle- Very fast for a centerback and that allows him to cover a lot of ground in a very short time. His speed has helped the Mongolian Horses avoid relegation this year.
D: Martin Hansen- A lot like Casey Stockholm on the other side. The only difference being Stockholm is a little bit better on the ball and Hansen is a little bit better on the defensive side. Made a great partnership in friendly games.
M:Barrett M. Lonnen- Destined to be the next great Milchamian player. How can we tell? He has the middle initial that he puts in his name that nobody knows what it stands for like Marc J. Floren. Can help the counter attack.
M: Del Clufor- A little speedy center mid. Does not have the passing skills of Antoine Sanchez but his little runs thru the defense remind people of a mix between Johnny Rintell and Darian Flinters.
M: Walto Manin- Great Name. A much more traditional wing than Flinters of Kilinin but his crosses and passes look more like a center midfielder than a wing.
F: Aaron Kary- Almost a starter for the senior World Cup team. Captain of this team and looks to show what playing with Marc J. Floren for 4 years will do for you.
F: Zar Johnson- Works with national team starter Elana Kilinin and does a great job with it. A Spot Nielson type, good in the air and great on the ground.
F: Floren Albentine- The next Marc J. Floren. Nuff said.
F: Bat Nackson- On the Fish Lords with J.J. Faren so usually in the center. But he has played well on the wing before and here his atrocious finishing won't show.

PFT News, Loyalty Bay
After the nation as a whole decided to boycott the World Cup after the recent debacle of favouritism and biased refereeing the city of Loyalty Bay, and specifically the Pleasantview Ravens organization has decided to ignore that ban and sign up, on their own, for the Under 21 World Cup, on behalf of the nation. ...

The Nedalia (U21) Lions
Nedalia Announced U21 Team; Williams Named Manager
Nedalia's U21 teams have always been associated with one name; Brent Vent. However, with Bilal Hachem resigning from his post, Vent has been named the new manager for the senior squad Lions, hoping he can accomplish what Randy Gamman once did and lead the squad to the World Cup. The U21 Lions, for only the second time (the first time was when Vent left to coach the U21 Sarzonia Stars) in their history, will be without their beloved coach, who many are saying has one last ride before he retires.
Replacing him is Vernon Williams, a relative unknown 38 year old former headmaster of a small public school in the town of Xania, near Honsfield. His footballing experience is limited, but he has received accolades for being able to discipline and teach youngsters. He is an experiment in the making, one which the Nedalia Football Association hopes will pay off. The rest of the squad is as follows:
GK - Hassan Smith 19
LD - Anwar Bukhasi 20
CD - James Winston 19
CD - Kim Bronnoll 18
RD - Chris Bunashidi 17
LM - Brooks Howard 20
DM - Frank Hatim(c) 21
AM - Aamer Khanzar 20
RM - Supensa 18
SC - Brahim Karam 18
SC - Jack Jackless 17
OOC: Nedalia will be playing as Attacking as possible.

Upstart first-timers hold Foxes to draw
TOTAL 'N' UTTER INSANITY (PSN) -- The fourth-ranked Pacitalians came into this tournament expecting a better finish than their outstanding third in the last World Cup, but it looks like they'll have to work a lot harder to get the results they wanted after being held to a 1:1 draw by a new and unknown participant, The Footie Dream Team.
The upstart opponent's Arjen Robben broke the deadlock in the 29th minute on a corner kick that had even veteran central defender Veneto Santo Sebastiano fooled. Robben swept around left behind Santo Sebastiano, leaving himself uncovered. He jumped all over the incoming ball and knocked a great header into the back left corner of the net, past a diving Romano Cristiano Santi.
That forced the Blue Foxes into overdrive, and a quick team talk at halftime seemed to spark the favourites back to life, for star forward Afino Boranogunta easily broke through a dawdling FDT defence, and slammed a top-corner shot home in the 53rd minute to equalise the game and save a potential loss to the upstarts.
"It was not that we were playing badly in the first forty-five minutes," Boranogunta said post-match. "It was more that we expected the ball to just come to us and that things would come together for us. We know that is a foolish way to play and we will certainly be working harder in the second and third matches to rectify that and ensure that we advance."
All eyes are on this rather exciting Group H, as Pacitalia finds itself once again in the same group of competition of Tonissia. Pacitalia and Tonissia have been in the same tournament group for world cup basketball, the Cherry Cup, and now, the Under-21 football tournament for the second time. And, this is the first time the Blue Foxes will get to taste the stylings of the Yaforites. The Blue Foxes may find this group winnable, but not necessarily easy, as they found out today.

Patty Paterson: The roster for the An archist U-21 World Cup team came out earlier today. The team has been completely overhauled from last year and it looks much improved. Once again, An archy will compete with the unique 2-4-4 formation. John, how will this formation effect their style of play?
John Johnson: It won't actually effect the style of play that much. Although there are only two proper defenders, the midfielders play a generally defensive oriented game. The end result is that the An archists are only a moderately offensive team.
Patty Paterson: Interesting. An archy is in Group C with Spruitland, The Solar Association, and New Montreal States.

Zucchini Smoothie
Oh look, it's 3-1 again!
Starblaydia have played Giant Zucchini's mutant footballer vegetables twice before, scoring and average of 3 goals per match and conceeding 1 per match. Care to guess yesterday's score? Yup, 3-1.
It was somewhat-disconcerting for the Starblaydi team to face eleven sentient vegetables of the various greenhouse varieties, and they went behind to the stylings of Yoshikatsu Nakamura within twenty minutes. That was the cue, however, for Cherry Garcia to start some screeching at her defenders, getting them into line.
Starblaydia got back into the match either side of half time as star striker Raphaelo struck from inside the box and Bedistan-based midfielder Georges Blanc blasted a scorcher from way outside it. Substitute Roberto Vega, on for Singh, put the tie beyond the Veggies with a header.
Group-toppers in Group F, Starblaydia are, thanks to the Beasts only bagging two goals to none against the Belmores.

Milchama beats Bedistan
It was an eventful day in Milchama soccer history today. Not only did we play and beat Bedistan for the first time in any competition but also for the first time a Milchamian club signed a foreign player outside of Collonie as FC Doom signed Bedistani midfielder Parker Law. That's unimportant to us though as the Warriors dominated from start to finish, Coach Patrice Thibault said, "People have doubted my coaching ability but I think I have started to prove my detractors wrong. Anyway the match was excellent, outside of that period where Parker Law dominated we were in control the whole game, I could not have asked for a much better match than that."
Onto the match report where the game will be reported on with very broad statements about 10 minute intervals if there is not a goal. If there is a goal then all events that led up to the goal will be talked about.
The game started. The first 10 minutes the Warriors dominated and had 3 shots. The next 10 minutes the Bedistani's replied a little but the Warriors continued to have the majority of the possesion. The Warriors scored in the 22nd minute when Barrett M. Lonnen passed the ball to Bat Nackson. Nackson took a ridicoulous from 22 yards but his spin on the ball made Vailatai Issah reach and barely tap the ball back to Floren Albentine who shot it in from 4 yards out to make it 1-0. Despite other attempts to score the deficit was still only 1-0 at 30 minutes. The next 15 minutes were all Warriors as Milchama got unlucky to score when Zar Johnson's header went high.
Second Half:
You know this 10 minute thing isn't working so we're going to do it for the second half. The Warriors came out and started right where they left off in the first half as a corner by Aaron Kary led a to a great header by Floren Albentine that just missed the mark. Only a bit later the Warriors got another oppurtunity when Lonnen came up from the wing and passed the ball to Del Clufor who put it up and Albentine came down with a header and his second goal. After the second goal the Cubs started to make attacks and central midfielder Parker Law took over the game with his passes and dribbling. He almost scored in the 64th minute and again only 3 minutes later. Law then got fouled in the 75th minute and that led to free kick which he swung in to Felicity Wilson who headed it in to make it 2-1 Milchama. After that though the defense settled in and some great defense on Walto Minin's part stopped Law from dominating again. Minin also created some offense and his cross into Aaron Kary almost created a goal in the 83rd minute but another save by Issah kept the Cubs in the game. In the end though they could not put the tying goal in and the game stayed 2-1.
Final Score:
Milchama 2 (Albentine 22, 51)
Bedistan 1 (Wilson 75)

Spruitland - New Montreal States: 1 - 0
“Well, we scored one goal and New Montreal States scored none. That means we scored one more goal than them and, if I’m not mistaken, that gives us the three points. Can’t ask for more than that.”
Bunnies coach Frederic Juneau’s summary of the match may not have been terribly insightful, but the logic could not be argued with. While 1-0 may not be a score the goal-hungry Spruitland supporters will be overly excited with, the three points are in the bag, and at this point of the tournament that’s what matters most. With An archy and The Solar Association evening each other out, Spruitland takes the early lead in Group C, which gives them a little breathing room for the two remaining matches.
“I told the boys,” Juneau explained further, “to keep the ball moving towards the opponent’s goal, and when it got close enough, to try and shoot it into the net. I thought that would be a good tactic. It was easier said than done though, because the Montreal players kept getting in the way.”
But eventually, deep into the second half, the Bunnies’ well-considered tactic paid off and Benji Kloots managed to scramble the ball behind the Montreal goalkeeper. Somewhat surprisingly though, the young striker didn’t seem too pleased with his effort.
“It was a shit goal,” Kloots grumbled. “For my first international goal, I wanted something special. A 40 meter screamer, or a diving header perhaps. Not a ‘who sticks his leg out first’ crapper.”

Jr Sea Dragons Soars Over Popular Freedom
ASMV's Under-21s entered international play on a very high note. 90 minutes of action saw the Jr Dragons leave the field as 2-1 winners over Popular Freedom.
The new "Tidal Surge" style worked to perfection, as Popular Freedom never adjusted to the player flow from position to position. Georgeanne Mellet was brilliant in her first net appearance at this level, racking up 7 saves while allowing one lonely goal from the opposition.
Vianal and Bunten did the jobs their new "surge" positions required, playing effectively on the defense and in the midfield. "It seemed as if the PF players couldnt figure out our formation for the majority of the match." commented Vianal. "But that's ok. We couldn't either."
Leena Draghi scored on a brilliant pass from Moses Bessemer in the 19th minute to put ASMV up 1-0. Popular Freedom came back to even the score just minutes later. Both defenses then settled in to rythym until reserve forward Melodie Quilici broke away with an electric move in the 77th minute, and neatly put the ball into the upper left corner of the net. The Jr Dragon defense held the rest of the way to preserve the victory.
"We are pleased with our play during this first match" said Genesis Galluccio. "Now we just have to build on it. We dont know if it will be Hypocria or Rolatia next, so we just have to be ready to play our game and let the rest take care of itself."
The Vegan Fuborii Liaga would also like to announce that all players listed on the Jr Dragon roster are available to sign with any club that would like to procure their services.

This is An archist News, the official station of the Under 21 World Cup An archist team.
Patty Paterson: In a disapointing first result, the An archists tied The Solar Association two to two. With only three games in pool play, each contest could be the differance between advancing to the round of sixteen and going home early. In order to have a reasonable shot at advancing, An archy will need to pull of an upset victory against Spruitland or New Montreal States. Speaking of those two teams, Spruitland also defeated New Montreal States one to nothing in a low scoring game earlier in the day. The scorers for An archy were Xson and Vinison. Xson scored in the twenty-seventh minute off a putback from a very powerful shot by Hideki Hidekison. In the sixty-fourth minute, Vinison added another goal on a header after a well executed corner from Billson.

The Nedalia (U21) Lions
Growing Pains; Lions Fall to Hockey Canada
Group G P W D L F A GD Pts
Bettia 1 1 0 0 3 0 3 3
Hockey Canada 1 1 0 0 3 0 3 3
Schiavonia 1 0 0 1 0 3 -3 0
Nedalia 1 0 0 1 0 3 -3 0
The Nedalia U21 Lions' campaign got off to a pretty bad start tonight, losing 3-0 to a clearly superior Hockey Canada team that simply tore the defence apart. Clearly on the opposite end of the talent spectrum, the U21 Lions rarely showed any threat going forward, and their best player on the night, striker Brahim Karam, looked like he wouldn't even make the Hockey Canada sub bench.
Manager Vernon Williams urged all fans to be "realistic as well as hopeful", claiming that the players which have been called up have yet to gel together. While it was expected that the U21 Lions would not be upsetting any teams, the dominance showed by Hockey Canada on the night painted a pretty bleak picture. The team that stepped out on to the pitch tonight seems so far removed from the championship team of World Cup 16 that Nedalians have begun questioning the young talent coming from the country. If this match was anything to go by, then Nedalia's future in football is in serious jeopardy.
Given that this was the first time the team has played together, Williams stated that the team needs to find its footing before it can get any better.
"We need to understand each other before we can begin understanding how to beat teams. When we know each other's strengths, then we can work together, and the rest just smooths itself out. Don't forget; we faced off against possibly the toughest team in our group. Hockey Canada are an amazing team, and they proved it against us tonight."
Group G's other match, Bettia vs. Schiavonia, ended in the same scoreline, with Nedalian favorites the Aroras coming out on top, to the delight of the U21 Lions.
"I love that country, I love that team. They play the same style of attacking football that we do, and they have the same attacking mentality. Not to mention, some absolutely great weather," commented captain Frank Hatim.
Nedalia's other team, Jeruselem, also managed to be victors in the same scoreline in Group B against Cuation.
"They showed pure class. One hell of a team, those guys. If there is anyone the U21 Lions should be looking up to, its them. Pure class," stated Williams.
OC: you may do anything in regards rp with Cuation and the matches. Be a tad annoyed if you killed off five players in one match but you can do so.
Roster
4-4-2 formation
GK: Jude Tanner- Star player-18
Hoping to break ino the first team soon, his performances have prevented his club from going down. Plays fair but can be absent minded on the pitch. Slow off his line.
LB: Wayne Tower-20
Not that great. Relible enough if playing often, he might be out of his depth here though his long range shots are a threat.
RB: Gary Cole -19
Can slot in anywhere along the back line, he is solid at youth level. Inferoir version to his older brother Philip Cole
CB: Mickey Dawlawn -17
Great at recovery, he is a useful defender. Lacks authroity nand can be found slow against pacy skillful players
CB: Swiss ""Cheese" Charag -20
Lives with his minority tribe in the mountains, powerful on air and ground, sure on his feet.
LM: Joe Fallen-18
A trick pony. When not hogging the ball, he can be so useful to the team with his deadly balls. Too often he wastes things by keeping the ball too long
RM: Chris Lewis -16-captian
Great player, he will soon break into the first team squad. Can play in centre, at full back and either wing. Also plays up front. Has a habit of hitting the post, will be needed if Cuation are to do well.
CM: Jhon Flam-20
Holding player for the team, he will look to cover the backline. Can be outmuscled and head can drop so easily.
CM: Patrick Lanie-19
More defensive then is perhaps good for the team, hot tempered, he can run the game. Strong on the ball, good tackler, decent passer, without him the midfield could be outmuscled.
ST: Lu Fei- 18
Strong player, he is the target man. Will hold the ball up if needed and so often first to the long ball.
ST: Pual Keane-20
Pacy player like Rual Mendiz. Will be looking to get in behind defences and finish any chances he gets.
Style: A counterattacking team, they like to play it on the ground. Lack team work and while they have a few quality players, the Cuation youth team can expect to be destroyed this time around.

World Cup 26 over, U21C20 is here!
OK, the World Cup team made the 2nd round and lost to finalist Liverpool England 2-0. It's time for the kids to shine, well some of the U21C20 is the World Cup team so we aren't sending babies to play here.
We got placed in Group B with some familiar faces. You know, like the Vikings (Fmjphoenix) who made the WC26 finals. Just to mess things up further, throw in old friend Liverpool England who knocked us out of WC26. Cuation complete the four and look like having a bad time of it. Cuation are in the group with 3 WC finalists!
We support Nedalia and Hockey Canada, but guess what happened? They got placed in the same group. Just to make things more fun, they played against each other first.
As for our team, due to last minute withdrawals from some team members - the team sheet was published for the first game. Late, but some U21C20 players had to commit to club duties after the World Cup.
The new team, stuck together late before the first game played really well. Cuation got hit 3-0 and didn't look in the hunt all game. This wasn't Jeruselem's best team either. Cuation need to get up to speed as the Vikings and Terminators await them.
Vikings and Terminators took each other on. In the end, the Vikings overran their modern counterparts 4-2. There's one thing the Vikings do well, score goals. We saw this in WC26 and now in U21C20. Liverpool England played well, but the more experienced U21 won out.
The Canuck vs Lion game! As of current form, the Canucks won. The score? 3-0 as cloned by the our win over Cuation. Group G includes Bettia who almost made the WC26 finals.
Looking at the U21C20, for some groups it's going to be easy. Group B and D are stacked with higher seeds.
Group G is full of great teams of equal ability apart for Hockey Canada who are ahead due to their recent good form in the junior and senior team sports. Nedalia can do very well, provided they can reproduce past form which has been missing lately. We hope these two can make the next round.

Formation: 3-3-2-2
The Young Zucchinis (Under-21 Side)
Note: Roster is susceptible to change
Coach: Dovid Yekhanurov - 58
After leaving amicably from FC Spartak Vostochno, Dovid Yekhanurov is looking for a revival to his managerial career as he attempts to bring glory to the Giant Zucchini younglings. Known in Spartak for his inventive attacking playing style, he will be looking to bring a smile to audiences while bringing in the goods, something he hasn’t been able to do in Spartak.
Starting 11
GK: Askar Kostrikov (FC Spartak Vostochno) – 20 – Captain
Technically one of the better keepers in Giant Zucchini, dislodging Alexey Stalin from Spartak’s first 11 this season. It is hard to find fault with his positioning, and he has a strong punch on the ball. His handling and closing down, although not spectacular, are of a decent standard.
LB: Kunihiko Matsui (Nihon Dawn) – 20
A strong tackler of the ball, Matsui also has a decent burst of speed and a decent touch.
CB: Martin Mellberg (Nordic IF) – 17
One of the stalwarts of the Nordic side that impressed in the Premiership this season. An imposing figure, he times his tackles well, as well as having decent pace.
RB: Albelardo Moyà (Iberia CF) – 17
One of the quickest players in the side as well as in Giant Zucchini, Moya also has pretty decent tackling and passing skills as well.
LWM: Hercules Maskelyne (Anglo FC) – 19
Already a first team player for Anglo FC, Maskelyne is a quality player. With amazing control of the ball and a delightful pass, the gentle giant also has decent acceleration and tackling ability.
CM: Ernesto Fuentes (Iberia CF) – 20
Another class player, Fuentes is also another impresser in the Premiership this season, scoring one of the goals of the season. He has an accurate pass and a crunching tackle, as well as a good touch, a powerful strike, and strength to match his height.
RWM: Arturo di Zampieri (AC Romanic) – 17
One of the brightest prospects in Giant Zucchini, di Zampieri has physical presense, deft touch, good passing and above average heading and tackling. Expect him to lead the next generation of Zucchinis on to greater heights.
CAM: Wang Tek Huang (Sino FC) – 18
Armed with blistering pace and acceleration, Wang also has a good first touch and a decent shot.
CAM: Paul de Basten (FC van Frankenland) – 18
One of the most all-rounded players in this squad, de Basten’s greatest strengths are his fitness, speed, tackling and shooting.
CF: Yoshikatsu Nakamura (Nihon Dawn) – 18
Another future star that is destined for greatness, Nakamura is blessed with stamina, strength, a good strike, and the most powerful header in the squad. Expect this boy to be snapped up by one of the big boys in the coming window if Nihon fails to get promoted to the Premiership.
CF: Michelangelo Concici (AC Romanic) – 16
The youngest player in the squad, Concici is armed with a strong tackle, decent control, decent heading, and technically the best shooting skill and variety in the squad. One of the players in this squad with the greatest potential.
Bench
GK: John Shilton (Anglo FC) – 20
Bobby Laredo’s understudy at Anglo FC, Shilton has the skill, but not the positioning and instinctive guile to leave his line quick enough.
CF: Álex Iglesias (Iberia CF) – 19
A strong young striker, Iglesias also has the shooting ability and heading and tackling proficiency to make it, if not internationally, then certainly locally.
RF: Jacobus van More (FC van Frankenland) – 19
A relatively quick striker with a decent shot and touch.
CB: Tommi Ekberg (Nordic IF) – 18
A very strong central defender with a chunk of a tackle coupled with quite a deft touch.
CM: Roland von Haller (Deutsch SV) – 18
Another player with amazing ball control, von Haller also has a decent tackle and an accurate pass.
Reserves
GK: Nikolai Ashkenazy (FC Spartak Vostochno) – 16
The second youngest player in the team, Ashkenazy is also incidentally the tallest player in the team. However, he will not threaten Kostrikov or Shilton’s position in the near future. However, if he progresses quickly, he might become one of the keepers to beat for the next generation within the next 4 to 8 years.
RB: Roberto Lavandera (Iberia CF) – 17
A quick wingback with a decent enough tackle.
RF: Felix Kozlov (FC Spartak Vostochno) – 18
A decent attacking player with a good strike and pass. Also a decent header of the ball.

NEWSFLASH:
YEKHANUROV'S WACKY IDEA BACKFIRES!
The Giant Zucchini Under-21s, possibly as a sort of tribute to the teams of old, came out of the tunnels against Starblaydia totally covered in green facepaint, and also having indecipherable names on their backs. In fact, their impersonation was so good, many in the press thought they were, indeed, species of sentient vegetables widely believed to be on the verge of extinction. The commentator even pronounced one of the names, when Yoshikatsu Nakamura finished a brilliant move off with a thumping header at the far post inside 20 minutes of the first half. We could only decipher something along the lines of 'tomatoes'. However, the gimmick only proved a distraction to the flowing play the team tried to create, and after several defensive mix ups and an blistering long range effort from Georges Blanc, the Zucchinis found themselves at the wrong end of a 3-1 result. "It was all in a bit of fun, but I guess after that performance we'll have to take everything a bit more seriously now."
Starblaydia

"I told you vegetables didnt yell that many expletives during a football match."
"Look, I'm sorry," Jaime Oberlander said, "but he looked like a courgette. I assumed he was. I've heard the stories about these old Giant Zucchini teams, I thought the worst."
"And Nakamura was a tomato, was he?" Cherry Garcia folded her arms and waited for an answer.
"Well," Oberlander went sheepish, "he looked like one. Sorta. There was one that was a pineapple, though!"
"You listen to the crowd to much," Cherry raised her voice for the whole dressing room to hear, 'He's got a pineapple on his head!' is talking about his hairdo, not the fact he is actually a pineapple, dammit!"
"Okay, sorry Cherry, won't happen again."
"Just dont you expect Jon Parkin to actually be a beast, or the Alan Belmore to turn up in our next two games, either."
"No, Cherry."
Cuation 3-0 Crush
The first team has faired poorly of late and the youth team's start says things won't improve long term. Having not played outside the islands of Cuation, they can be considered unlucky to be in a group with three World Cup winners.
First up was a second string Jeruselem side and Cuation find outself out its depth. Moves broke down as the attacking players failed to work with each other and Jude was beating three times before the victors relaxed.
The defence did alright under pressure but teamwork should be concentrated on so Cuation can keep the ball for a length of time. Midfield is where the game is won or lost and quite simply Cuation surrendered it without a fight. We will not get any points unless things improve.

We did well
" a draw was good really, we drew a good team" commented jose roederinho who praised his team.
Arjen Robben had a good game and deserved his goal, turning the defender and scoring.
also in the first half jarzon marjarito pulled of a magnificent save.
and Damon Shearer hit the bar.
and a decent penalty appeal was turned down with a TWO
Footed tackle being ignored. maybe Shearer may have converted the penalty, you never know!
in the second half Pactalia deserved their goal, and had other decent chances as well with their skipper making marjarito pull off a magnificent save.
FDT's Man Of The Match:Arjen Robben/Jarzon Marjarito
Because: Robben caused mayhem down the wings, and Marjarito Pulled off two brilliant saves.
Pactalia's: Afino Boranogunta
Because: tore apart the normally solid Defence.
Dream Stadium's Attendance: 108,987
P.S:Pactalia, i'm glad that you haven't rated me bottom, and i think if we win one or two you never know...:p :) :D

Being the top seeded nation in Group E led to many fans believing that maybe, just maybe our dreadful recent form in football competitions was finally due to end. Those fans are idiots. Quite simply we’re rubbish. There’s no getting away from it. Even in a tournament in which we’ve been relatively successful the malaise has appeared. Just as the opening day defeat to Rolatia showed. Under-21 coach George Burns brought throw many young and talented players while in charge of Kester Town in the Hyper League but this opening day defeat has left the Hyppos’ position precarious even at this early stage.
The newspaper loving people of PopularFreedom and our friends in Andossa Se Mitrin Vega provide the opposition for the next two matches. In theory we should win both games. We’ve played PopularFreedom once before in an Under-21 World Cup and won 5 - 3 which is a good sign. While the Junior Sea Dragons are debutants at this level. We should win both, but we won’t

Junior Vikings topple Liverpool England U21s in first matchup
With a lot of new faces, this was a different looking Junior Vikings team. But the performence was still the same. Arien Cracken scored an early goal in the 13th minute, but that would be all that was heard form him. Not even five minutes later, he went down with what would later be diagnosed as a torn groin, and didn't return. Brandon Lamar, the thirteen year old son of Powell Lamar, the starting goalkeeper for the Vikings for nearly 20 years, came in and took over the match. He became the youngest player to net a hat trick internationally, scoring goals in the 25th, 49th and 73rd minutes of the match. It was sweet revenge for fans in Fmjphoenix, as it was the Terminators who knocked out the Vikings in the quarter-finals of World Cup 26. Coach Ryan Howard has stated that Lamar will start in Cracken's place as he will be unavailable for the remainder of U21WC20.

Jeruselem face Terminators ... again
U21C20. The Jeruselem team took on the junior Vikings and well, lost. This group with 3 teams who are known to have performed in the senior tournament would be exciting, too exciting. The junior Vikings won 2-1 and secured their place in the 2nd round. At the same time, Cuation lost to Liverpool England as expected. The junior Terminators won 3-1 and knocked out poor old Cuation. This places LE on the same points as Jeruselem and we play them next game.
Hockey Canada brushed aside Schiavonia 2-0 and make the 2nd round. No goals conceded so far for the Canucks as well. Nedalia played the Canuck's buddies Bettia in a must win game. All that happened was an indecisive 3 ALL draw which benefitted Bettia and not Nedalia.
For Group B, the game with Cuation play is irrelevant. Fmjphoenix made it and Cuation cannot. The winner of the Jeruselem vs Liverpool England game will join Fmjphoenix. If Jeruselem win or draw, they make it. If we lose, Liverpool England make it. Yes, it's like knockout now - a game against the Terminators again for a knockout.
Nedalia need to beat Schiavonia and hope Hockey Canada win as well. Bettia need only a draw to lock out Nedalia, so the equation is more complex here. He assume Hockey Canada will win, but will the Lions win?
Just some trivia - who knocked Hockey Canada, Jeruselem and Fmjphoenix in World Cup 26? Liverpool England. We have to settle a score here. The team need to be at their best against LE, it's do or die here.

Sino FC's Wang Tek Huang secured the Young Zucchinis their first point in their Under 21 campaign, latching on to Fuentes' through ball and slotting it calmly into the far bottom corner in the middle of the second half, levelling the score after The Belmore Family took the lead late in the first half. Coach Yekhanurov, "Well, it's good to finally get some points on the board. Hopefully we can get a good result against Jon Parkin, and then we're in a good position to progress."

Another draw...
There Was Nothing Really To the game, with only the FDT making a decent chance, but if spectacular long shots count , then Yafor 2 get one too.
The chance came when Scott Parkton Passed well to Bordon Marjarito , Who gave the ball to Arjen Robben with a superb long ball. He Crossed in but the cross was headed away.
Then BordonMarjarito Crossed in superbly, and Damon Shearer's Lush Header Was Just Saved.
Yafor 2's Chance was a superb long range shot, which forced Marjarito to make a brilliant save.
Jose Roederinho's comment:it was a boring match, and neither side put any energy or passion into the game, except when we shone when we put that little chance together.
FDT Man Of The Match: Bordon Marjarito:For, Setting up that lovely chance.

This is An archist News, the official station of the Under 21 World Cup An archist team.
Patty Paterson: Yesterday, the An archists defeated Spruitland two to one and took the lead in group C. Billy Billson scored both goals for the An archists, his second coming in the seventy-fourth minute to take the two to one lead. In a press conferance after the game, he answered various questions from the An archist media:
John Johnson: After today's games An archy has the lead in group C. Do you feel good about your chances of winning the group?
Billy Billson: I definately feel good that we control our own destiny. I think we have a great team this year, so I feel like we have a good shot at beating New Montreal States. We just have to try our best and hope things work out for us.
Jill Jillson: What about the rest of the tournament, do you feel like this team has a chance to go all the way to the finals?
Billy Billson: Like I said before, I feel good about this team, but right now we're too concerned with NMS to worry about something that far ahead. We'll cross that bridge if and when we get to it. Heck, at this point we haven't even secured a spot in the second round, so we need to stay focused on the here and now.
Patty Paterson: And so later today, the An archists will take on New Montreal States in a game with significant implications on who will advance to the second round.

Jr Dragons Down Rolatia
ASMV followed up a 2-1 victory over PopularFreedom with a 2-1 victory over Rolatia. This stunning turn of events has the Jr Dragons all alone on top of group E.
Beulah Ripperger started the game very strong and that fact showed through as she easily beat the Rolatian keeper in the second minute of play to put ASMV up 1-0 very early. Leena Draghi added a second goal in the 42nd minute to up the advantage to 2-0.
That was enough to secure the victory as ASMV held on for the 2-1 win.
Keeper Georgeanne Mellet had a fairly easy day as the Jr Dragon defense, led by Genesis Galluccio, kept the Rolatia opportunities to a bare minimum.
Next up for ASMV. A very talented and struggling Hypocria side that should show signs of the greatness they really have. Not even our squads nor theirs can struggle forever.

Chicanada KodiKits surprise all!
Eastentown - Chicanada's U21 squad, without a hint of comments or anything, is within contention of another Round of 16 berth after a 1-0 victory against unknown Becquerelia today.
Chicanadan U21 Coach Flinn Nesevada, taking time out from leading League 1's Hearts, said he's been pleasantly surprised as how well the novice squad has done in the nations return to younger footy. The squad did rather impressively against Lovisa thanks to a 1-all tie.
Now Nesevada must rally the squad to prep for everyone's favorite Frenchie scapegoat, as Oliverry comes calling for the Kits. The team should get in with a tie, regardless of the Lovisa-Becquerelia matchup. A loss to Oliverry would mean the Kits need Becquerelia to lose again, while a Win and a Lovisa loss or tie gives the Kits a Group Title. Of course, the opponent in the Round of 16 could be anyone - An archy? NMS? We want NMS, for a chance to get revenge of sorts for Astur City's ouster of Champions League would be considered rather nifty.

Silver Wolves Disappointing In Under-21 World Cup
Game 1
Tonissia 2 - Yafor 2 1
TOTAL 'N' UTTER INSANITY - It was not a good day for the Silver Wolves. They had been hoping to go into the Under-21 World Cup in style, showing that they deserved to be here. Instead, against another second year team, Tonissia, they looked horrible. They had no skill, no style, and, to tell the truth, looked like they DIDN'T deserve to be here.
The game started out with a light drizzle of rain obscuring what looked like a regular start. There were a few dark clouds, but from horizon to horizon, a sluggish mass of gray covered the skies as far as the eye could see. There were slight slumps of mud, here and there, on the softened ground, but nothing that would seriously affect or impediment the players.
But there was something wrong with the Yaforites. From the beginning of the game they seemed despirited, tired, and, well, something was wrong. It was not clear what, either lack of training, or out of shape, or the fact that their manager had not yet arrived, or something else. The Silver Wolves managed to hold their own for a short time, with Zyante Meleherat scoring a goal early in the second half. But, in quick succession, the Tonnissian team scored two goals in return and the score stayed that way for the rest of the game.
Game 2
Yafor 2 0 - The Footie Dream Team 0
Again, it seemed, that the Silves Wolves would have to deal with not gaining a win. This time it was against newcomers from the semi-appropriately named "The Footie Dream Team". While they might have not been the all time greatest team (that is, of course, in the eye of the beholder), they were certainly good. While a "Footie Dream Team" would be difficult to assemble, this team may have come very, very, close.
But it was a typical Yaforite game. While it would have been much closer to being a "Golden Wolves" game instead of a "Silver Wolves" game, the stifling Yaforite defense was not odd at all. They only allowed one good chance for the opponent, with Bordon Marjarito's cross headed away, and his serve back in to Damon Shearer, who just nearly missed. For a second, it seemed, to Yaforite fans, that the game, and the cup was over for them, but it was not.
The Silver Wolves have, coming up, one of the toughest team in the tournament and a country so closely affiliated with Yafor 2 that they are intertwining to an enormous degree. Pacitalia. The Blue Foxes shine in the Under-21 World Cup, but this game will be a game of rival on rival, of friend on friend, and will, no matter the result, involve some great playing!

Revenge Is Bitter-Sweet
Bettia's Young'Uns progressed into the next round after getting through a very tough Group G with an unbeaten record.
Bettia 3 (Devenallt 2, Rogers 46 pen, Rhydderch 61)
Schiavonia 0
The first matchday saw the Young'Uns get off to the best possible start, with Gwrlais Devanallt firing them in front after just two minutes with a wickedly-curling shot from just outside the area after some enterprising play from Eri Kurniawan.
Bettia continued to dominate the first half, carving out numerous opportunities but failing to add to the scoreline. That was rectified shortly after the break when Egryn Vaughan burst into the penalty area only to be crudely upended by a Schiavonian defender. Lorshill City's Saboor Rogers did the honours from the penalty spot, sending the keeper the wrong way.
Bettia's third came just after the hour following a brief period of Schiavonian attacking play. Kurniawan made yet another scorching run down the wing, and his low cross into the area was gleefully sidefooted home by Gwarthen Rhydderch to put the game beyond doubt.
Bettia 3 (Rhydderch 25 78, Devanallt 75)
Nedalia 3 (Karam 13, Supensa 45+2, Jackless 89)
Matchday 2 saw an eagerly anticipated local derby against our western neighbours Nedalia, and it was the Lions who took the lead after thirteen minutes thanks to a deflected shot from Brahim Karam.
Nedalia's advantage lasted for little over ten minutes as Gwarthen Rhydderch headed in a corner at the back post to make it all square. The parity lasted until injury time when Supensa capped an impressive first half display with a well-taken goal, which he somehow lashed in from a seemingly-imposisble angle.
It was end-to-end stuff for the best part of the second half, with both sides creating chances at regular intervals. It was the Young'Uns who broke the deadlock during a three-minute purple patch which saw Rhydderch and Devanallt knock in near-identical goals after begin put through one-on-one with goalkeeper Smith by pinpoint passes from Rogers in midfield which sprang the Nedalian offside trap.
Bettia seemed destined to claim all three points, but Nedalia took a share of the spoils at the death. A last-minute corner saw the entire Lions teams crowd into the Bettian penalty area, and it was Jackless who got the decisive touch, forcing the ball home despite the close attentions of Clayton Howes.
Bettia 2 (Al-Jahani 28, Foyle 39)
Hockey Canada 1 (???? 88)
The Blessed Realm was celebrating as the Young'Uns gained revenge for their exit from the last World Cup by beating perennial bogey team Hockey Canada. In a typical Takilan vs Karelan matchup, Hockey Canada defended deep and Bettia attacked even deeper, with wave upon wave of Bettian forward play crashing against a resolute back seven.
However, Bettia finally got the opening goal on 28 minutes after some skillful play from Tariq Al-Jahani. Receiving the ball some thirty yards out with his back to goal, he flicked the ball over the heads of two defenders and then proceeded to latch onto his own up-and-under. A neat sidestep of the keepr, and it was one-nil to the Young'Uns.
This setback seemed to rattle Bettia's opponents, and Tamrida's Cledwyn Foyle doubled their advantage ten minutes later, hitting Al-Jahani's cross on the half-volley and straight into the top corner.
The second half saw more of the same, with Bettia carving out chance after chance but failing to take it, whilst Hockey Canada finally started to attack as the half wore on. However, it wasn't until two minutes from time that they pulled a goal back to set up a grandstand finish, but Bettia managed to hang on to claim all three points and top the group.
Unfortunately, Bettia's win meant that Nedalia were knocked out at the first stage despite their exhilerating 5-1 thrashing of Schiavonia. However, the Young'Uns can be sure of more than a few Nedalian voices cheering them on in the knockout stages.

Well, Milchama won all their games and topped Group A.
This was rather expected. The Dugan took the next spot and
Bedistan (World Cup 28 co-hosts) came dead last! Shocker.
The Islands of Qutar failed but we didn't expect much from them this time.

Well, Jeruselem took on the Terminators again.
They knocked us out of the World Cup 26, and we got our REVENGE.
It does not compensate for failing to reach the WC26 quarter-finals
but Jeruselem have won U21 twice, so in U21 - we can laugh.
Oh yes. The young Crusaders overcame the Terminators and sent them home!
Fmjphoenix finished off Cuation 6-1 so our loss 1-2 looked really good.

No Feeding The Beasts, Please
Starblaydia take 2 wins from 2
Starblaydia's young guns smashed in four goals past the Wee Beasties of Jon Parkin, giving the boys from Parkin their first taste of defeat in two matches. Starblaydia, however, still have a 100% record from their two games so far, and will be looking to keep that up when they play The Belmore Family on Matchday Three.
Nothing can now screw up Starblaydia's progression into the Second Round, as only Jon Parkin can overtake them as Group leaders, and its the top-two that go through to the next stage of the tournament. Even a draw against The Belmore Family would be acceptable to go through as Group Winners, but Starblaydia will be determined to put the Belmores firmly in their place.
Cherry Garcia's captaincy of the Under-21s is certainly proving fruitful, particularly with her First Half brace of goals. Star striker Raphaelo and debutant Dasha Tolkacheva - making her debut as a substitute - got on the scoresheet too.

Jr Dragons See Hyppos Use Potential
ASMV faced off against what had been seen as a struggling Hypocria side thus far. Well it looks like all it took was finding a match against our young guys for them to return to form. That's right, the Hyppos took this one 2-1.
It's not like we didnt have our chances. The young Hypocrian keeper got quite the work out, facing 13 shots on goal - and turning away 12 of them. Only Leena Draghi's shot in the 83rd minute found the net and kept Hypocria from blanking the Jr Dragons - even if we did outplay them for the entire match.
"It's good to see our Hyppo friends do well again" said Draghi following the match. "We just wish it had been against someone else."
Now to see how we fare in the next match - we will just have to wait and see.

Starblaydia 7-Up over Belmores!
Joint-biggest U21 win ever with 250th U21 Goal scored
Just. Plain. Wow. Starblaydia's Under-21s clicked like never before and Totally n Utterly Destroyed their opponents, The Belmore Family. In scenes reminiscent of Starblaydia's senior 5-1 victory over the Belmores in the Group Stage of Starblaydia and Druida's World Cup 20 performance, Under-21 World Cup 20 has seen Starblaydia's joint-highest margin of victory ever.
You have to go back, crikey, twenty-four years - obviously before any of these players were born - to Under-21 World Cup 8, when Starblaydia thrashed Oaker 8-1, in the same tournament they counter-punched Hiiraan by a 6-3 scoreline.
Back then the scoresheet looked something like this:
Starblaydia U21s 8 (eight) - 1 Oaker U21s
(N. Matranga 12, Del Blanco 14 & 34 & 62, Delgado 22, Azanulbizarn 45, Menegroth 59, De Souza 84) - (F Oaker 61)
You may notice something familiar about that scoreline. What with current U21 Manager Khim Azanulbizarn getting a goal, as well as Nick Matranga, father of current starlet Jade and World Cup Hall of Famer in his own right. But anyway, back to this scoreline.
Rabindra Singh set the tone early on, after less than 200 seconds, as he put away a neat header at the near post from a Garcia cross. Less than ten minutes later, Jade Matranga grabbed her first goal of the game. Playing in the attacking-midfielder role for the injured Georges Blanc with Javi Chavez on in her place, she left-footed the ball past the Belmoron keeper from around the penalty spot. Two-nil up with just over ten minutes played and Starblaydia were already in cruise control.
So much so, in fact, that Gino Vogliazzi, notable for hardly ever venturing further forward than the extent of the centre-circle, decided to come forward some and have a crack at goal. From over thirty yards out he hit a curving screamer that pulled away from the 'keeper into the top-right corner of the net. Perhaps he should take aim from there more often, if that can be the result. Three-nil was the Half Time score and Starblaydia wanted more. They were sure gonna get it.
Just after Half Time Jade managed her second, after a quick burst of pace from Cherry Garcia left her past the full-back and in open ground. A simple cross and tap-in later and Jade wheeled away in celebration for four-nil.
That goal, you may like to know, was Starblaydia's 249th Under-21 goal. The landmark of 250 came about twenty minutes later thanks to substitute Roberto Vega. Peeling away from the defence after a long through-ball from Jaime Oberlander he burst into the box and fired under the 'keeper. Starblaydia, of course, didn't stop there, as they tend to take things too far.
Far enough, in fact, for Dasha Tolkacheva to come on and score almost immediately by sprinting past half the Belmoron team for her goal. Cherry Garcia wasn't to be outdone by her two other female colleagues, however, as she grabbed her third goal in as many group games to round it off as a Magnificent Seven for Starblaydia.
Look out Tonissia in the Second Round: Starblaydia are coming.
Starblaydia U21s 7 (seven) - 0 The Belmore Family U21s

Bunnies beat up Solar boys
One thing seems clear about the new Bunnies: they don’t take defeat very well. Despite taking the early lead with a goal from Wim Honnegat, they lost their second group match against An archy, 1–2, and were less than happy. The team bus was the first innocent victim of the Bunnies’ distress, and the hotel rooms were thoroughly demolished as well. The mysterious rape and murder of several dozen Insanician farm animals in the surrounding area could not be linked to the Spruitland team, however.
Fortunately, the Bunnies saved some of their energy for the third match. If the Solar Association youngsters went into the match with a bit of confidence, it did not take long for that to be thoroughly shattered by an eager Spruitland team. Kloots scored twice and Cartwiel once before half time, and Tersago and Planaeter brought the final score to 5-0 in the second half.
“That’s much better,” coach Juneau commented. “We scored more often than the opponent, this time, something we failed to do in the previous match. And that made the difference between winning and losing. Jolly good.”
One notable absence in the Spruitland squad was goalkeeper Vic Varckenboer, replaced by reserve keeper Loo Berck. “Nothing serious,” Juneau said. “He just bumped into a door after conceding two goals in the previous match. But his left eye should open up in time for the Second Round.”

Silver Wolves outfoxed... badly
TOTAL 'N' UTTER INSANITY (PSN) -- The key to success in the eyes of Pacitalian footballing greats is cunning. Cunning wins games. Winning is secondary, and it will float down right into your hands as long as you play a clever, conservative game. Pacitalian under-21 football has never been consistently excellent (up until the last cup) but now the squad and its administration are starting to get a better sense of how international football should be played. Too bad it's taken 10 tournaments. Still, the match against Yafor 2 was one of the most publicised matches both in the two countries and abroad in all the cups, as two friendly rivals prepared to face off in an international-level competition for the first time.
Two squads with similar names -- the Pacitalian Blue Foxes and the Yafor 2 Silver Wolves -- entered the fray. One squad was toasted Wednesday afternoon. We'll give you a hint: it wasn't the Blue Foxes. Pacitalia dominated a match, widely expected to be close, from start to finish, and never let up, even rubbing salt in the wound by scoring in the 86th minute to take the game by a remarkable score of 6:0.
Afino Boranogunta, emerging as a reliable forward, and a star player, scored a hat trick by popping goals in the 26th, 29th and 37th minutes. Massimo da Scupeta continued laying the foundation for his under-21 legacy by adding two in the 54th and 72nd. And captain Bertrando Massimatto added that "insurance goal" in the 86th. The loss eliminates the Yaforites from contention, and many in Ajer are most likely shaking their heads at the devastating result.
In other news, Pacitalia beat Tonissia 2-0 on Match Day 2 but the report from TnUI could not be processed because of a power failure.*
Pacitalia moves onto the second round to play Jon Parkin, who are lucky to be in the second round after a 4-0 slaughter at the hands of sixth-seed Starblaydia.

Quarter-Finals Once More
12th QF appearance in 18 attempts
For the third Cup in a row, Starblaydia have made it to the last eight of the tournament. The last two times they were dumped out by Nedalia and Hockey Canada (that time by their worst-ever defeat, 3-0) but this time Starblaydia's squad seem to have the kind of team cohesion and ability that took them to the title twelve years* ago.
Jaime Oberlander opened the scoring for Starblaydia, the versatile Left- or Centre-Back ghosting into the box from a corner and heading home ten minutes into the second half. Alberto Belmozzi's goal some five minutes later was also the result of a corner, Belmozzi staying up front after the ball had been cleared, only to get on the end of Georges Blanc's header and fire the ball home. Not bad for a defender-come-striker.
Finally it was Captain Fantastic yet again as Cherry Garcia rounded off a comfortable Three-nil victory it a goal of her own, chipping the ball daintily over the Tonissian 'keeper after a long high header up the pitch from Vogliazzi that the Tonissian defenders completely missed.
Up come the Quarter-Finals once more for Starblaydia, and their usual aim still holds true. Make the Semis. Something they've done eight times in twelve attempts. Lucky or unlucky thirteen in the Quarters for Starblaydia's Under-21s? Only time will tell.
Starblaydia U21s 3 - 0 Tonissia U21s
(Oberlander 54, Belmozzi 59, Garcia 72) - (None)
* OOC: With WC27 about to start, tehcnically by my timeline this should be 21 years ago. But as previously mentioned, I'm back in time for this one to the point just before World Cup 25. Which I won, of course. Or will win. Will have won. Whatever. So anyways, soon-to-be World Cup Winners Jaime Oberlander, Cherry Garcia, Raphaelo and Roberto Vega are doing rather well this Cup. In a small corner of Total n Utter Insanity there is a large tent, a shimmering blue material decorated with archaic symbols of power edged in gold waves gently in the breeze. From within there is a wan blue light illuminating the interior, a sharp finger of light piercing through the entrance to the tent and casting its luminescence on the ground.
"Come in..." says a withered, ancient female voice, "...Pacitalian one."
In the figure steps, taken aback that the hidden voice knows where on this vast planet he came from. He pulls the flap aside and places one foot inside the tent.
"How did you know where I was from?" he asks.
"Madame Merle knows all, sees all." Comes the reply.
"Madame who?"
"Merle," the voice snaps back, "it's written on the outside of my tent, but not in any language seen on this earth for generations."
"Um," the Pacitalian asks, "what do I do, cross your palm with silver?"
"Who do you think I am," Madame Merle says, getting increasingly impatient. Knowing the future has its drawbacks, after all, "I take Douros, Pacitalian one, though anything less than a silver note and the future becomes... unclear."
"Okay, okay." he says, taking out an indigo-coloured Đ20 and handing it over to her. "Now, what do you see?"
"The Blue Fox runs along a field of green, surrounded by baying crowds. A large man, in blue, a terrible roar from his lips. He is the Beast."
"So?" The man is unimpressed. "Pacitalia's Under-21s will play Jon Parkin in the Second Round of the Cup. I saw that information in the newspaper. Give me my money back."
"Ah, but did the newspaper tell you the score?"
"No..."
"So cloudy the future has become, the scoreboard is... vague."
"Okay, okay." Another Đ10 note appears from the man's pocket.
"Feed the Beast and he shall score, and score he does. Once." Merle's eyes glaze over. "And the Blue fox crosses the white line... eight times."
"Eight-One?!" The man is astonished. "Are you kidding? That's the worst fortune I've ever heard. I'm going back to the stadium!"
Spinning on his heels the man rushes out of the tent, disgusted.
"We shall see, Pacitalian one," Merle says to herself, "we shall see."

Milchama shutout Dugan and Qutar
In a great game for the Milchama Warriors they pretty much qualified themselves for the second round after a 3-0 shutout win over Dugan. The win gave the Warriors 6 points thru 2 games and a goal difference of +4. Many have congratulated Coach Patrice Thibault for this glorious achivement but today Thibault was quick to deflect the attention to the kids, "Like I said before the tournament these grew up watching Milchama play in many international sports and understand what it takes to win at these high levels. They have shown it twice and I think they will continue to show it thruout the tournament."
Now onto the match report:
The Warriors dominated the game from start to finish as in the 12th minute they got their first goal on a Zar Johnson header. Then in the 23rd minute they almost went up 2-0 but Aaron Kary's shot went high over the bar. The Warriors missed another oppurtunity in the 30th minute when Barrett M. Lonnen stole the ball from the Dugan keeper but rushed his shot and it went wide. The Warriors though would score again before halftime as Floren Albentine headed in a corner in the 43rd minute. The second half was pretty much the same story as the first half the only difference being the Warriors scored only one goal instead of two. That goal came early in the second half when Barrett M. Lonnen smashed a drive from 20 yards that the goalie could not get to. After that third goal the Dugan defence would not concede despite other attempts by the Warriors.
Final Score:
Milchama 3 (Johnson 12, Albentine 43, Lonnen 52)
Dugan 0 (Shutout yeh)
The game with Qutar was eerily similar with similar events happening the only difference were the goal scorers and here they are:
Milchama 3 (Albentine 13, 82 Nackson 63)
Qutar 0 (Second shutout!)

Overtime curse strikes again
When we mention "overtime" and "U21 Championship", it's time to fear. Overtime in any U21 game means a loss, and well that happened. We lost 2-1 to Lovisa in yes, overtime.
Nothing wrong with Lovisa, their World Cup and U21 teams are good when they turn up for a game. The game against Liverpool England before looked it had an effect on the Jeruselem who weren't as energetic as they could have been. They lasted 90 minutes, but overtime got to them.
The team was assembled in the last minutes for the U21C20, so we suspect all our best U21 players got locked in club games. With some WC26 team members and untried U21s, we didn't know how the team would work.
We win very few overtime games - last one was a very long time ago. Now that we bow out, we'll be wearing the Hockey Canada colours from now on. The Canucks won their game 4-0 and just looked really good.
On the subject of a team called PopularFreedom, we hope Bettia teach them a lesson.

Bettia to Jerusalem - Glad To Oblige!
Bettia 3 (Vaughan 78, Rhydderch 86, Devanallt 90+1)
Popular Freedom 0
Bettia progressed past the first knock-out stage of the World Cup today at the expense of PopularFreedom, but the win was not as comfortable as the scoreline suggests, as the Young'Uns were matched by the young Ravens for large periods.
It wasn't until twelve minutes from time that Bettia finally broke the deadlock as Ravens (of the Lorshill City variety) striker Egryn Vaughan scrambled the ball home after Foyle's inswinging cross was inadequately dealt with by PopularFreedom's defence.
Gwarthen Rhydderch doubled the lead eight minutes later when his hopeful-looking shot took a wicked deflection, sending the keeper the wrong way, and Gwrlais Devanallt sealed the win deep into injury time, pouncing on a loose pass across the back four before smashing the ball home past the kepeer.
After some good performances, Bettia's Young'Uns will need to carry their form into their next match if they are to progress further.

Beasts tamed with eight; Blue Foxes advance
Pacitalia's second straight quarterfinals appearance
TOTAL N UTTER INSANITY (PSN) -- Pacitalian football fans are certainly getting more excited after yet another intense game saw the Blue Foxes advance to their second straight quarterfinals match. However, that was only after a quick recovery from a fluke goal early in the game, as the Pacitalian U21 team cruised on to an 8-1 victory over the Beasts of Jon Parkin.
The fluke goal came in the sixth minute as a Beast forward came through in a mad scramble for the ball. He ended up unwittingly knocking the ball past a bewildered Romano Cristiano Santi with the outside of his left knee to bring the tally to 1-0. The goal is only the second the star goalkeeper has let in this tournament.
"It was most certainly a fluke goal," captain Bertrando Massimatto said post-match. "There was a great sense of urgency among the team after we let a goal, fluke or not, in so early in the match. We had to step up and get back into the game; we were expected to win, and we knew that."
And step up they did, as after just seven minutes of play, Fenicio Samatini Telio equalised with his first of the tournament, followed only one minute later with a sweet strike by his fellow midfielder, Pier Ando Angano, to gain the lead. The Blue Foxes never let up from there, with Marco Fanazori, Gianluca Marti and Massimo da Scupeta scoring within 17 minutes of each other to end the half at a resounding 5-1.
The second half was no different, as the Beasts appeared fatigued, lifeless and uncaring of the scoreline. Afino Boranogunta shined in the second half, scoring just eight minutes in to widen the gap, and Angano and da Scupeta each scored their second goals of the game to rub the salt in the wound and seal the deal.
"After we got past that little bump in the first five or six minutes, we laid on the heat," manager Lindifeu Zentrescu added. "The boys were on superb form today, just the one mistake."
Pacitalian fans are cautiously optimistic about their solid team, and once again have high expectations. It will be up to Afino Boranogunta, with six goals in four matches, and his team of young Pacitalian football talents, to improve on last cup's great third-place finish.

Young'Uns once again fail to down the Blue Foxes
Pacitalia now guaranteed at least fourth place in edgy victory
TOTAL N UTTER INSANITY (PSN) -- Bettia's Under-21 team still has quite a few bitter memories from the last cup. The Young'Uns came into the third-place playoff brimming with confidence but they were shut down effectively by a Blue Fox squad in a 3-1 decision. And once again, the two squads met in the knockout stages, but in a somewhat more critical match: the winner of this game advanced to the semifinals. Just like last time, the Blue Foxes ruined any Young'Un hope to advance, but by a narrower score, 3-2.
Massimo da Scupeta opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a header off of a Bertrando Massimatto corner-kick. The Bettians soon equalised, as Egryn Vaughan broke past Mario Camanecchia and then shoved the ball behind Romano Cristiano Santi. However, the Blue Foxes, not willing to give up, and with the trophy in sight, gained the lead right back in the 44th when Pier Ando Angano notched his third goal of the World Cup with a superb strike to the top left corner, to the chagrin of Bettia's Safwan Sulaiman.
Coming out of the second half, the Bettians appeared refreshed and energised by the manager's team talk. The Young'Uns quickly capitalised on a rare defensive mistake by Veneto Santo Sebastiano and equalised for a second time off the hard work of Gwarthen Rhydderch and his fellow forwards. Rhydderch pocketed the Bettian team's second goal in the 59th minute.
Once again, however, the Blue Foxes ruined the Young'Uns' collective day, when Gianluca Marti smacked the ball through the legs of Sulaiman in the 85th minute, to seal the victory and advance to the semifinals for the second-straight U21 World Cup, at the expense of the Bettian team... for the second-straight U21 World Cup.
"The Bettians are a superb team," Afino Boranogunta said post-match. "Really quite outstanding. It's remarkable how much of a run for our money they give us each time we meet. That is what makes winning over them so much more enjoyable, so much sweeter. It's developing into a great rivalry."
Pacitalia advances to the semifinals, as mentioned, for the second-straight time, and their chances of hoisting the trophy at the very end are becoming more and more likely as the wins roll out. The rocky 1-1 draw to start the tournament has been soundly replaced by outstanding play on all three units of the team. It's looking like a Blue Fox-dominated cup more and more, folks.
But the manager is not getting overconfident.
"We're going to take this one game at a time," Lindifeu Zentrescu added after the ninety minutes was up. "There are two games to go. One hundred and eighty minutes of football is a lot, but we're ready. We just cannot afford to take our successes for granted. The ball will not come to us unless God is somehow directly involved, and we know that's not realistic. So we're going to work hard, play our style of football and hopefully, at the end of it all, be the champions!" With that, he sent the assembled media his trademark wink.
Still, even if the Blue Foxes win the whole darn thing, there will still be questions. Where will they go from there? What more can they do? From the looks of it, they can do almost anything.

Canucks Kick Out Starblaydia Again
In the Quarter-Finals. Again. Just like U21WC19
At least it wasn't another record-breaking defeat, like it was last time. Last time, of course, Starblaydia lost 3-0, their highest Under-21 defeat ever. This time, once again in the last eight, Hockey Canada again got the edge over Starblaydia's young guns, without allowing them to score a goal. Again.
So once more Starblaydia's Under-21 programme will take another step down on the slippery slope away from the leading group of possible tournament-winners. Hockey Canada, however, continue their inexorable rise upwards.
See you in Under-21 World Cup 21!

Canucks just too good for Blue Foxes in semi; Pacitalia to play for 3rd place again
TOTAL N UTTER INSANITY (PSN) -- Brimming with confidence the Blue Foxes came into the semifinal expecting that this time, this time, things would be different. In Massimo da Scupeta's last ever Under-21 contest, the Blue Foxes were desperately trying to win the whole thing for the crafty forward, veteran of ten Under-21 tournaments. But, yet again, it is not to be.
The Blue Foxes were not outworked in any facet of the game, for the score ended up 1-1 at almost the end of regulation time against those defence-crazy Hockey Canadians. Afino Boranogunta scored to equalise the game in the 39th minute and the game was dead until the 89th minute when an off-timed whistle caused confusion among the Blue Foxes and allowed a Hockey Canadian forward through to etch the winning tally.
The Blue Foxes do get some consolation out of the loss, however. For the second straight time they get to play for third place, a still remarkable achievement and one no doubt the boys of the team will be proud of. And once again, Fmjphoenix will play Hockey Canada for all the marbles in the final.
"Sure, I am disappointed," da Scupeta remarked post-match. "I would have liked to win but third place is just as good in my mind - especially for the second time. I'm going to play the third-place playoff as though it's the championship game."
Pacitalia faces An archy in the 3PPO and it is widely expected the Blue Foxes will carry the match and lock up third place yet again. First and second place will be decided two days after the third-place playoff.

Total n Utter Failure. Again
It’s hard to imagine but not so long ago Hypocria was home to one of the best Under-21 teams in the entire world. Seriously, we came third at World Cup 17 and second two years later. But those days are well and truly past. Now the slump that has affected the senior side is also firmly in control of the youngsters as Hypocria’s Under-21 side failed to qualify from the group stage for the second successive tournament.
Burns’ side were always going to be up against it after dropping the first match against Rolatia and sadly were unable to recover, despite avoiding defeat in the final two games. The writing was certainly on the wall after the Hyppos were held to a disappointing 1 - 1 draw by a team from not so mighty PopularFreedom. As so often in the past, with nothing really left to play for the Hyppos produced their best performance. Against our friends from Andossa Se Mitrin Vega the Autocracy’s youngsters turned on the style and beat a talented Sea Dragon side 2 - 1. That lifted Hypocria up into third and onto a plane home. Fortunately it didn’t hamper ASMV’s chances. Although Hockey Canada did.

A quick glance at the quarter final draw showed most of the usual suspects had advanced. Former champions Hockey Canada, Starblaydia, Spruitland and Fmjphoenix, who are possibly the current holders of the title, were all still in the mix at that stage. But here it gets a little sketchy. It seems the defensive machine that is Hockey Canada have advanced all the way to another final, downing Starblaydia and Pacitalia in the process. There they will meet Fmjphoenix, yet again. Who will win? Pfft, no idea. But if you’re one of those compulsive gambler types . . . I don’t know . . . Fmjphoenix.

Junior Vikings become four-time champions over Hockey Canada
They took the road less traveled though
These are not your old school Junior Vikings. These are younger prospects that are showing the promising your in Fmjphoenix. After a three game sweep in the group stages, the Fmjphoenix U21s took heart to what retired midfielder Marion Rodriquez said the Junior Vikings before the start of U21WC20.
"You are the future. But you are also the present. Soon you will show billions and billions around the world how great the talent of the next generation of Fmjphoenix footballers are. But there are still millions and millions who are watching you now. This is your time for now, and for your future."
They showed a glimpse of what is great things to come for Fmjphoenix in the future now. In the second round, Marcos Deyani scored the first and last goals of the match against Chicanda, single handedly putting the Junior Vikings into the quarter-finals against Spruitland.
When the teams came up together, it was a standstill. Even extra time could not finish this matchup between two solid young teams. But in the end, it was goalkeeper Jason Alexander who saved and won the matchup. Not only did he deflect the last penelty kick from Spruitland, he put the last kick for the Junior Vikings right past the Bunnies goalkeeper.
That lead up to the semi-finals matchup against suprise squad An archy. Despite An archy taking an early lead, Shane Branche and Brandon Lamar both scored two goals in each half to give the Vikings a 4-1 victory to move to a second consecutive finals matchup against Hockey Canada.
Unlike U21WC19, the Junior Vikngs moved back to their more conventional 3-4-3 style to face the defending Canucks. Things didn't look good for the Junior Vikings as the Canucks U21s took an early lead in the first half that carried over to the second half. But Brandon Lamar showed off a preview of things to come. He took it upon himself and scored his second international hattrick at the age of 13, and lead the Junior Vikings to a 3-1 victory over Hockey Canada to give Fmjphoenix its second U21WC Championship in a row, and their 4th overall, the most that any nation has won.
These Junior Vikings might be a glimpse of the great future awaiting for Fmjphoenix, but they are playing it now and making the most of what they have.

Blue Foxes third again, but who cares?! That's fantastic, Massimo says!
Pacitalian U21s down An archy in close match to win 3PPO
TOTAL N UTTER INSANITY (PSN) -- It was fitting that in Massimo da Scupeta's last ever under-21 cap he put away all of the Blue Foxes' goals. Two, to be exact, as the Pacitalian Blue Foxes narrowly edged out An archy 2-1 for the consolation trophy that's not really a trophy - the third-place playoff. It was the second straight Cup the Blue Foxes took third, and also the second straight time the Junior Vikings downed the Canucks to take the cup.
da Scupeta drained a header in the 34th to equalise and followed up with an excellent strike in the 70th with the Pacitalian fans cheering wildly. The TnUI announcer notified fans of the fact that it was the sneaky and clever forward's last match ever in the U21 circuit, and promptly the 71,199 fans in attendance rocketed to their feet in appreciation. da Scupeta bowed and waved to the crowd, and he said he was nearly moved to tears.
"It was amazing," he said post-match. "To go out of your U21 career with two straight top-three finishes is pretty great. I don't care that we never won; I know these guys will be raring to go next time and try for another run at the top. It's never impossible and they know it, and they're a talented group. I was honoured to play with them, certainly."
Under 21 World Cup 21 beckons. Let's hope it's lucky this time for the Blue Foxes!
