Syskeyia

Well, I said I’d start the thread today, so here it is.
The Background
When Japan embarks on imperial adventuring in the 1920s and 30s, the Syskeyian government does not take this well. Though circumstances prevent the Republic from really doing anything about it, the said protest is noted when the Empire of the Rising Son decides to strike south. Due to troop needs and various other things, Adoki agrees to invade Syskeyia on Japan’s behalf. (Complication on who was the “real” emperor of Japan, Hirohito or Akodi’s monarch, may or may not occur here)
The Attack
The invasion begins in January of 1942. Adoki forces smash through the Twin Shrine Pass and roll into northern Syskeyia, carving out a nice between the jungle in the northwest, Phangkotham and Ankalina in the east, and the Kardja mountains to the south (they’re the ^-shaped mountains in which lay Syskeyiapolis. See this map of Syskeyia (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v123/Syskeyia/syskeyia_map_revised.jpg) of reference.) Syskeyian forces are initially routed, but later reform and hold back the Adoki adance on the aforementioned fronts. A general stalemate occurs on the Jungle and Phangkotham/Ankalina fronts, as the Adoki generals believe it too risky to go up through the passes of the Kardja mountains.
Note – a general stalemate. The Syskeyians and Adoki make some advancements, but no real gains (such as out of the jungle or past Phangoktham (or Ankalina, depending on your side)) are really made Meanwhile the fighting continues. The fighting on
Finally, in 1945, the Syskeyians launch an armored offensive which reclaims most (if not all) of the territory lost in the war. The Adoki offensive is defeated. They either-
a) surrender (probably not, given your culture and what Adoki says in NSwiki)
b) fight to the death (might happen)
c) sign a face-saving “armistice/cease-fire” with the Syskeyian forces, withdraw from Syskeyian and somehow make it back to Ambara (this one I’m favoring, as it allows stuff like you still technically being at war with me after all these years, and it gives you battle-hardened veterans for the war with Marlund. :) )
Characters-
Ignatius Vonvachit- President and First Consul of the Republic of Syskeyia
Cyprian Sukothai – Syskeyian fighter ace, grandfather of Benedict Michael Sukothai (Present Syskeyian President and First Consul
Ieshige Takashima – Japanese/Adoki administrator of occupied Syskeyia. A warrior/samurai type, he studied in Syskeyia, gaining an impressive knowledge of Latin (and Syskeyia itself) and even married a Syskeyian woman. (When studying in Syskeyia, made a note by translating the “Tale of Genji” into classical Latin.) Believing that Japan/Adoki should ally with Syskeyia to kick European imperialism out of the Pacific, he was dismayed with the Vonvachit administration’s anti-Japanese foreign policy, and became colonial administrator only reluctantly. As administrator, tried to respect and keep Syskeyian civic and religious institutions and traditions whenever possible. (Should conflict with an Adoki general – type who wants to treat Syskeyians like, well, how the Japanese usually treated occupied people – over occupational policy. Sort of like Yamashita-vs-Tsuji in the Philippines (read Ghost Soldiers, you’ll know what I’m talking about.) Captured by Syskeyian forces in 1945, he was jailed and converted to Catholicism (much to the delight of his wife) sometime therafter. After that… don’t know. If Japanese, becomes first postwar Japanese ambassador to Syskeyia. If Adoki… we’ll work it out.
Joshua Takashima- eldest son of Ieshige, ran away to Syskeyian lines and enlisted in the Syskeyian Army.
Well, that’s all for now. What do you think?
