I am a new nation.
"So what?", you say.
Just making myself known.

I feel it courteous to inform you that your nation's first thread and post on this forum will most likely be slated for immediate and proper destruction by the Omnipresent Mod-Squad. Please, continue to smile and wave in a cheerful fashion as your thread's apocalypse comes to be.

What Tarlachia is trying and failing to get across in a polite way *thwaps on account* is that generally introduction threads tend to have more content to them, otherwise, they end up being considered spam. While this isn't a strictly in-character forum, lots of this sort of thing gets done in-character simply on account of the nature of the role-play forums.
If you're not interested in role-playing, this isn't really the right forum to be making introductions in. Generally, wherever you choose to play, in whatever forum, a better way is to not just post a 'hi, here I am' simple statement, but to get involved in some threads that interest you, and take it from there.
Best of luck with things.

(ooc: okay didn't know. Made a new thread, but how do I figure out what tech, military, and money that I have?)
Tech is a matter of personal choice;
The most common techs are Magi-Fant, Modern, Post-Modern and Future, with a few other, less common ones like Near Future and Past.
Military is generally between 1 and 5% of population.
As for money, these are three sites:

http://www.nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?about=1 otherwise known as Thirdgeek, and the most commonly used.

For more information, I'd suggest reading both the NationStates stickies, as well as the I nternational Incidents stickies and the Moderation stickies.
