Oberon,
Uranus

The relative emptiness of space around the moon was quite disturbed indeed as various ships materialized in its orbit. They were about thirty in total, three of which would be recognized by a knowing person as Thylacine Dreadnoughts of the Taraskovyan Space Fleet. The rest were cruisers and frigates, dedicated to escort the Dreadnoughts and eliminate any enemy resistance.

The force then split into three groups, each headed by a Thylacine, and spread about in the moon’s orbit. And, apart from a lonely transmission, they remained quite silent to the outer world indeed. And the mentioned transmission consisted of an official text message which read:

Destination: Uranus Settlements
Encryption: Open

To all inhabitants of the settlements in the Uranus zone, we extend our greetings.

The Separate Solar Battlegroup of the Taraskovyan Space Fleet shall hereby be assuming defence of Oberon, in accordance with the Grand Ducal claim of the moon. We and the Grand Duchy bear no ill intent to the original inhabitants of the area and shall not act aggressively unless threatened.

Your Majesty,

It is my honour to inform You that the Grand Duchy has issued a claim on the moon of Oberon, in orbit around the Taurenori possession of Uranus. As an ally of the Grand Duchy, I deemed it necessary to inform You personally of the event and reiterate the Grand Duchy’s adherence to the values of the Sisgardian Fellowship of Nations and its respect of its ties of friendship to our allies.

The Grand Duchy shall not seek to destabilize any relations that may have been established between the nations occupying the various Uranus related territories. It is my hope that my country shall contribute to the prosperity and stability of the region.

As always, I stand ready to answer any questions Your Majesty may have.

[OOC: I have done several researches on the boards for the word Oberon in general and the results I obtained indicated no previously RP'ed claim by a nation with which my little nation has interacted or even plans to interact. In fact, there are only two (well, now three) threads that contain the word 'Oberon' anyway.

So... that big chunk of ice and rock is now Taraskovyan. Yay. Since Miranda has already been claimed by ACS in a previous thread dealing with Uranus... :\

As of participating in that thread... well, the people I interact with can post, I figure. But that thread is mainly for the posts (if any) of Taurenor and ACS(or Uranus Territories, whatever nation of his postinates).]

Umbriel, Uranus

Lieutenant Colonel Hertzmann looked back down at his sheet, then back up at the moon and the blue-green planet it orbited. Paperwork or exploration? Work or play? Stupid questions. He put the sheet down and donned a combat suit, opened the hatch and stepped outside. Umbriel. The name wasn't as pretty as Titania, perhaps, but it was part of home now.

We hope that our new neighbours will assist in keeping Nénar a bastion of peace in this turbulent solar system.

Space is cold.

Or so they say. The Tactical Engagement Unit Positivist Philosophy kind of disagreed, though, mainly due to the rather impressive amount of heat it produced - Heat that was now radiating into space, or dumped into heatsinks, or used to turn water into steam, which was them dumped and - after due cooling - recollected.

Essentially speaking, it was doing the spaceship-equivalent of sweating. Unsurprisingly, seeing as it was presently crash-testing its capacities, having been finished a mere week ago.

And so, perhaps half a billion kilometers from Uranus, a (Very) small star glowed in the infrared band.

When the Taraskovyan transmission is received, it listens attentively for several moments, storing it in its memory, QEing the news to half a dozen partners - About a minute later, the media grabs the information and distributes it on a considerably wider scale.

As in, billions listen.

Oberon

It was not simply cold outside. By an average of minus 220 degrees Celcius, the temperature outside was not really suitable for a morning jogging by the blue light of Uranus. Inside the research module, however, scientists were feeling quite warm and comfortable, as the heating was doing its job.

The module itself was quite impressive in size, featuring some labs, living compartments and, the most important, a bay full of special protective suits tailored just for the kind of frosty weather that reigned in outer space. These suits were quite useful when explorers wanted to go out for a walk, since the garage module containing the various vehicles useful for the mission had not been installed yet.

But soon, it and other modules would be installed, and the base would grow to form the first settlement on Oberon’s surface. A settlement dedicated to research, true, but still something. And in orbit, a station capable of servicing Space Fleet vessels would also be built, promoting Oberon to the status of ‘rally point’ in the registers of the Taraskovyan National Defence Forces.

Your Majesty,

It is with joy and gratitude that I got news of Taurenor’s recognition of the Grand Ducal claim on Oberon. I profit from the occasion to reaffirm that the Grand Duchy adheres to the Ruling Council’s recognition of Taurenor’s claim on the planet of Uranus. Just as did the Federation, we stand ready to aid the Kingdom in any matters relative to the planet.

As of Oberon, we shall be using the satellite to conduct studies and experiments on settling upon bodies completely unfit for life. We are also interested in conducting further experiments on the capacities of our ECTOS systems in terraforming said bodies. And, I shall not hide that Oberon shall also be dedicated to military activities, such as serving for a rally point of the Space Fleet and possibly other tasks required by the ever evolving context.

And as of yet, the Grand Duchy requires no assistance in its operations on Oberon. Yet, I personally thank Your Majesty for your kind offer and assure you of the gratitude and sympathy of the Taraskovyan people.
