Schiavonia & Milchama CoH 18 hosting bid

WHO WE ARE
Not that
it particularly counts for anything, but we're us. I don't really know what to say other than that.

NUMBERS/FORMAT
Numbers are not important. We intend to invite every team that has played in World Cup 26 qualifying, posted an RP in the World Cup 26 RP thread and who hasn't qualified for the finals of the tournament. We don't want you to get bored now, do we?

SCORINATION
Our scorinator will be the Schiavone International Scorinator 2.1, a MS Excel spreadsheet which I have actually put some effort into this time*. It's simple to use* (Milchama, having never operated a scorinator before, managed to get to grips with it quickly), but the most significant part is the formula it uses.

Which is slightly different for the team with the higher rank than it is the lower rank...

A goal is scored if...

lower KPB total + 0.01
R > 0.9 +/- ( 0.08 - ( _______________________ ) * 0.08 )

higher KPB total + 0.01

where R = Random number, 0 < R < 1
+ is used for the team with less ranking points, - is used for more.

Basically, the formula takes how good teams are proportionally to each other, so that teams with 30 and 60 ranking points have roughly the same chances of beating each other as teams with 3 and 6 ranking points. However, it isn't exactly like this, as teams with no ranking points at all wouldn't fit into the equation, so everybody's rank increases by 0.01 points.

To account for any home advantages that may occur, the number produced from the formula that R must be greater than is reduced by a third of 1 - this number. So, say that a team scores if R > 0.88, but the team are at home. This then becomes R > 0.84, as a third of 1 - 0.88 = 0.04, and 0.88 - 0.04 = 0.84

Each team has 12 attacks (chances to score a goal using the formula).

RP BONUS
Our RP bonus will be a quantity bonus. But it won't be a plain quantity bonus. It will have limits (we're not telling you what they are), which you will basically reach the maximum for if you RP regularly, or even have to miss a couple of days and make up later. The only quality limit will be that no bonus will be given for anything that shows a complete lack of imagination, such as just writing out the table situation into sentences. We know the tables already, for chrissakes!

The bonus will be given in full rankings points, with up to three to be gained. This means that those who need the boost more (those with less rankings points) get it, while those who don't need it as much still feel the effects, just not as much.

STYLE MODIFIERS
The SIS does allow for style modifiers if you so desire, from +2 to -2. They way they work is that they increase/decrease the probability of both teams scoring by the total of the two teams modifiers times ten percent. So say two teams of equal rank play each other, and both are ultra defensive -2, the sum of the modifiers would be -4, so for each team to score, instead of R having to be greater than 0.9 (as it would be with two teams of equal ranks put into the formula normaly), it would have to be more than 0.94.

Information about locations in Schiavonia and Milchama to be used will be featured later. If anybody has any questions about the bid, please feel free to ask.^

* - compared with the Druidan scorinators of World Cups 20 and 24.
^ - scorinator specific questions should be directed Schiavonia's way. And before anyone asks, yes, we have tested it!

Ow, my head hurts with all the detail!

J/K. I may have to ask you for the scorinator or how to modify Excel to create one to my liking since my laptop doesn't seem to like Java...

Well, for it to be “simple to use,” you must have a specification of the file format somewhere, right? After all, no one would be able to use it if they couldn’t decipher the format, right? :p
