Mare Serenus

OOC: This is my first major post. So please don't flame if it is bad.
Mere Serenus, a coalition of several islands that lie close together. The weather was tropical, life was abundant, and resources lie all around the islands. However, this seeming paradise was an actual hell for those who lived there. The Atrox Imperial family ruled over the people. Some Historians say that at one point the Atrox Emperors were benevolent. This time had long since passed. The Imperial family made the people slave to grow food only to be given to the Noble greedy stomachs. Every decree handed down only served to help those few who held power. Then one day a great visionary came. Some say that he was a disgraced duke, others say that he may have been the crown prince himself, and yet others say he came from the people. No one knows where he came from but he called himself Lokomaikai. He told the people of Mare Serenus that they could rise up and free themselves. He showed them the tactics necessary to defeat the Imperial army. However, he urged that we first try a peaceful solution. In the end it was agreed that and Imperial representative would meet with Lokomaikai.
They murdered him and the rebel troops assigned to protect him. They returned the head to a rebel village. It had a message stuffed into the throat. It read, “This is what the Empire of the Seas does to traitors. Lay down your arms and we will be lenient.” This message was sent to cow the rebels, instead it turned the whole country against them. In one night the country rose to destroy the imperials. Each Duke, Baron, Earl, and Lady were killed. Half of the Imperial army deserted when they heard about the assassination. The last place to be stormed on that red night was the Imperial Palace. For one hour the palace guard fought with the rebels. For one hour the imperial family cowered in their palace, for one hour the blood of many patroits stained the ground.
Finally, as the red dawn came up, the rebels broke through. The Imerial family was murdered and the palace guard killed where they stood. Mare Serenus was finally free.
It has been 5 years since that aweful night. Five years of growth and prosperity. Each July 15 we celebrate the Red Dawn, however this year is special due to the fact that at dawn we will be ratifying our constituion.
We cordially invite all nations to send representatives to this historic event.
