And the Season kicks off with a bit of a bang in the Second Empire of the Golden Throne at Fedala. Day 1 Practice kicks off the weekend, before Qualifying tomorrow and the race itself the day after.

Fedala has a number of twisty bits, and is going to definately benefit those who get their cars to turn with a bit of decency.

Team Rolatia tops the charts today, but not the one you'd think. Sralt is tops in practice, when Test driver for the home team, Carlech Santiag, follows in second, while new driver Bo Kristoffer follows in Third. Qualifying for the first Grand Prix of the season is tomorrow.

Upset for Oscar Phillips
Last year's Fedala champion, Oscar Phillips, received an unpleasant surprise today, as he finished twenty-ninth in the time charts, only improving over two Wetland drivers. Adding insult to injury, the relatively unknown driver, Carlech Santiag, made a startling victory for Tango and Kartuma by leading second. He is behind William Stralt, tomorrow, who drives for Team Rolatia. Carlech Santiag is a test driver for Tango et Kartuma, so his success can be limited. Unfortunately, the next runner-up, Xavier Delson finished twenty-first, which is not considered a good position. This can lead to a potential disaster in tomorrow's race in Fedala, concluding in a terrible upset, not expected by the team. The first season ended with Fedala being the only victory for Kartuma. Unfortunately, it might not be even that. Nonetheless, all three drivers have promised the press that they will cooperate, and they hope that at least one of the drivers makes it to the podium, ending a potential debacle with a rather pleasant note. However, nothing can be promised.

Four hundred spectators are expected to flock to the race for the practice drive, tomorrow, while almost ten thousand tickets have been sold for the actual race, on Tuesday. The spectacular crowd is mostly Macabee, and some have already showed off what they are planning to display, including an array of national flags. As Danel Viern said, "We're hoping for a Kartuma victory."

Indeed, it seems all the nation needs. Just west of Fedala the battle of the River Nestor is coming to a close, but the citizens of the city can still hear the artillery roar. The administration has promised that nothing will befall the racers in the city, but warn tourist not to venture outside the outskirts of Fedala. Artillery and battle nonwithstanding, all eyes are on tomorrow. Hopefully, Kartuma can pull what the National Football Team pulled today - something just short of a miracle.

"Well done, Roger. How's she doing?"

"Well, masses of understeer, as we expected on the twisty ones. Not much downforce. How's the new wing coming?"

"Not so great. Scott's only arrived pretty late, we've been lucky to get him out on track at all, and he's been shaking down the third chassis. But he's keeping it away from the walls, so that's OK."

"I'm really enjoying it out there, I'm glad that so far we've not been disgraced."

"Bob's near the bottom of the timesheet, but it's an even bigger step-up for him. And he's doing the bare minimum at present given the financial situation."

"Here's to first practice then. Let's try to get in mid-grid."

It was in truth an absolute baptism of fire for the Wents, only just making it in time to the circuit before the first session. But Jeff Jordan was secretly somewhat pleased just to be there. His knocked together model from his garage, and the couple of quick run-together clones, with the only engines he had, were THERE. He was an F1 entrant and Wentland was on the motor racing map. And you never know...he'd put most emphasis on finishing, so with a high attrition rate what could happen?

The Rolatian Telegraph
Sralt and Fasre shine in practice
The opening Formula 1 race of the season has begun, with Rolatian hopes high after last year's incredible win. The team are as humble as ever, with Ragji declaring in an interview post-practice, "We're not expecting to retain the titles. I'm shooting for a top-five finish, and my teammate a top eight, but we're not going to be disappointed if we miss the title. In particular, I fancy the chances of Tango et Kartuma and Wentland. Good luck to all."

In a brutally fast practice round today, Ragji himself didn't do well, coming 20th. His teammates fared better, with William Sralt finishing top and Nick Fasre - who is quoted as being annoyed after organizers messed up on his name, spelling it with a V no less - fourth. When faced with claims from some Rolatian papears he was losing his touch, he declared, "It was a tight practice round. As last year, anything can and does happen in the first day of the races."

As shown by the results from last year and this year (below), all three members of Team Rolatia have improved. Ragji 's best time is down 0.8 seconds and his position up 5 places, Sralt down 0.75 seconds and up 10 places, and Fasre down 0.8 seconds and up 15 places. The team now look towards qualifying. Ragji will be looking to do well - this was the site of his first points - and Sralt will be looking to qualfy this year. Right now, the national pride is centered on the team, with the Baptism of Fire not yet started*. It's expected that at least a thousand Rolatians will be arriving to the qualifying, with an estimated seven thousand going to the race proper. Around 210,000,000 will watch the race proper from Rolatia, so it's about average for a nation where the national sporting heroics hinge on Formula 1.

TCR main drivers midpack ties in practice
KeFlinger, LeCroix practice in shallow teens

Few race winners from last year had a strong day yesterday in Fedala, as Team Rolatia driver William Sralt placed a high 1.14.325 at his best (second being a thousanth off), only a few thousands of a second ahead of Tango et Kartuma testdriver Carlech Santiag. Twin Crescent veterans James KeFlinger and Scott LeCroix, placing the same time at 1.14.349 and eleventh place, marched the first few laps under race conditions.

"We went out and made sure we didn't avoid traffic like the plague," LeCroix said in the paddock. "We didn't go out just to get a feel of the track, we went to get a feel like how it'd be in two days. With a changing load and everything. We were out there for a while, and we had a high fuel load; I think [technical director Natanial] Juarez actually ordered that we do this with more fuel than on race day. We were out there long enough so that we could see how the new car reacts to loosing weight on the run, and so far it seems alright."

KeFlinger had a different opinion. "She's an ice queen." James apparently had trouble pushing the ACR 974 through turns smoothly. "She's been slipping on the tighter turns, and I can't keep the front end planted firmly. I'm thinking it could need some aero work by at most midseason."

KeFlinger's comments apparantly came as a shock to Gladen Michaels, president of the Twin Crescent team. "I think it might of been his lack of practicing on the new car during the offseason. He was going through some important stuff back then, and couldn't make the sessions. I mean, would you rather drive or see your child get born? I wouldn't blame him."

WENTLAND RACING PRESS RELEASE

Wentland Racing's Formula 1 debut qualifying went much better than expected today. The twisty Fedalia circuit was not expected to suit the Stellars, but Bob Turner pulled out a mighty qualifying performance and will start the Grand Prix tomorrow on the sixth row, whilst Roger Stoddard also made it into the top twenty.

"We do not have great expectations for the race itself," said team principal Jeff Jordan. "Our aim is to get both cars to the finish. This is very much a learning season and we will apply the lessons to try to become more competitive next year."

Turner was overjoyed by his qualifying performance, especially after a tentative free practice. "The cars were only ready last minute. I was being very careful when we started to avoid causing damage. Now we're in the race we can loose caution a bit more."

Roger Stoddard was less happy, a new front wing on the car not suiting his understeering on-the-throttle style. "I was still getting used to it during qualifying itself. I've at least got it going consistently, if I keep it at the same performance level a point is not out of the question."

Jeff Jordan is hoping that a good performance will stimulate economic development in Wentland's nascent technology parks and prevent a brain drain. "There are a number of promising engineers leaving university and having no-where to go. F1 is a fantastic recruitment tool if nothing else. If we can show what you can do with a bit of gumption, let's inspire someone else to take it further forward."

Race coverage on WBC2 will start at 1pm tomorrow.

Late at night, Roger Stoddard was still looking at the telemetry downloaded on the ZX81 when Jeff Jordan came in.

"What the bloody hell were you playing at today, Roger? You looked like an old woman."

"Sorry, Jeff, just couldn't get it going."

"Look, you're the number one driver. I only got Bob in because he's a decent hand. He bloody blew you away."

"I dunno, I just can't push to the edge at the moment."

"Are you scared?"

"Scared? Of course I'm scared. Scared of failure."

"And yet you did fail. Miles behind Bob."

"Jeff, this is not easy. I'm new to this formula. I don't want to ruin everything before we even start."

"Well, you'd better look at doing something a bit better in future. Your kid brother's done OK once he got used to the car."

"Yeah...he's a good 'un...but only 20. Why push him now?"

"He can be the bloody greatest if we look after him. I don't want him ruined by another team. I've got a hell of a lot invested in him. And I don't want you going out there all worried about him - unless you're worried about him taking your drive."

Jeff slammed the door shut as he left. Roger just stared at the numbers for a bit longer.

KeFlinger, TCR off to strong start
Places first in the Golden Throne

James KeFlinger, TCR pilot and Candrian native, placed first in F1GP's second season visit to the Golden Throne yesterday, coming off with a dominating finish in Fedala. KeFlinger, who was complaining about poor traction pre-race, apparently found the control he was looking for, perhaps stealing it from teammate Scott LeCroix, who suffered a minor crash that would eventually cause a failure of the front wings.

KeFlinger's car apparently had some work done to it; small winglets were noticed above the suspension setup, and both cars debuted with a chin wing under the main front wing. Although no statement has been made by the team concerning them, the cars seem likely to keep them - both KeFlinger and LeCroix dominated the tight turns, while keeping the cars pushing through the straights with characteristic GEM power.

"It was great, the car started to handle nicely, and I really got into the flow of things. This year could be our year," KeFlinger exclaimed during an interview. "I know I won't settle for second again, and neither will Scott [LeCroix] - not after just missing it last year."

LeCroix was more notibly upset. A small bump early on with Tango et Kartuma's Xavier Delson apparently damaged his car's front end. The car almost immediately became less stable, but LeCroix managed to keep the car in the running, and even in contention for first, for 52 more laps. "It was a bad way to end, you know? I didn't want it to happen, but when the pit crew tells you that the wing is starting to fold under you, you don't want to risk something." In the end, it was a poor day for most drivers - 10 of the 24 qualifiers failed to finish the race. Officials from some of the teams have recently begun clamoring for less laps in a race, in order for more cars to finish; the F1A has not commented on this so far.

Jeff Jordan stared from the pit wall. The cameras were focussing on KeFlinger's victorious final lap rather than on the positions lower down. So he stood and stared as the TCR car came out of the last corner, a worthy winner. Fifteen seconds later and Sralt took the chequer. Two down.

Twenty seconds...maybe Ridgwell's fallen off? He's been pretty wild. But no, he's there in a safe third. Dammit. Fourth was Merendez and fifth Vernon. All different cars. At least I've got two classified, Jordan wryly thought.

But his hopes were running out. Two cars running at the finish was what he had hoped for, but so close to a point...Wilkins and Smith were a scant eight seconds clear of Bob Turner. If only Roger had qualified better, thought Jeff, he'd be clear of those two. Maybe if they take each other out I'll get a heap of points. And in the last corner Wilkins made a banzai attempt to seize sixth place from the IGPA driver. For a moment it looked as if he would overshoot and punt Smith into the gravel, perhaps joining him, but no, he straightened it all out and careered off towards the line, Smith, presumably fuming, in tow.

They'd lost a bit of time before the blue car with the black helmet hove into view. Bob Turner had come ninth on his Grand Prix debut, a magnificent result for him, but just outside the point. Jeff sighed and descended to congratulate the pit crew.

He didn't notice the battle for tenth.

This is F1GP's second visit to the Secloring in Krytenia for the second race of the season. First Practice has already shown speeds, breaking the F1GP track record set just last year.

The Thirteen turn, 5.4km track should split the needs of acceleration and cornering almost directly down the middle, leaving a playing field wide open for a number of drivers.

Leading first practice is hometown driver Liam Ridgewell, followed by test driver Dean Bean for Howdown and Oscar Phillips for Tango et Kartuma. Leading the rest of the field is defending World Champion Thomas Ragji.

Where is everybody?
KeFlinger, LeCroix, Sloan all buiried mid-deep pack in practice at Krytenia

After coming off a successful race in the Golden Throne, Twin Crescent Racing's pilots all seemed quite overwhelmed and indistinguishable in the Secloring, despite being only 1/10th a second off of practice leader Liam Ridgewell of Austin-Tickford. Four drivers were between KeFlinger and LeCroix, who were a mere hundreth of a second away from eachother. The race seems likely to be a thriller, with barely one whole second separating 1st from 32nd in practice; reliability could change that - the number of laps on this track could wear down almost every car, continuing the trend of few cars finishing a race.

Jeff Jordan was buttonholed by a reporter for Motorace magazine on his way to team debrief and asked about his opinions on the practice session.

"Naturally, we are very pleased. Top 8 performance by Bob; he was a little unlucky not to score a point first time out, let's see if he can go one better this time. And he was consistently quick in his laps."

"What about Roger Stoddard? Disappointing again from your number one driver?"

"No, not at all. We're all new to this game and Roger was working more on race set-up than Bob. Remember our budget is near zero and we've managed to get both cars into the top twenty, that is well ahead of where we were scheduled to be."

***

Jeff Jordan entered the Dormobile that stood for the team hospitality vehicle and had a quiet word with Roger.

"For God's sake, Roger, what's WRONG with you? You were all over the bloody shop. Your bloody brother was quicker than you. Only that last flyer of yours got you some respectability."

"Jeff, if I knew I'd do something about it. But you know me. I like oversteery cars. I can't get this thing around corners."

"Well, if you can't, Rog, I'll have someone in who can. Maybe someone with a similar bloody surname."

"Just wait for the race. Practice is not important. I'm getting the hang of this. That last flying lap was just for starters."

"It had better be. It had bloody better be."

Ragji and Fasre do well in practice; Sralt not so hot
Thomas Ragji and Nick Fasre have had a good practice session today, with the duo finishing respectably. Ragji finished 4th in a brutally fast pack, and Nick Fasre got 6th - another good result for the test driver who could potentially now have been driving in a race role. William Sralt, surprise runner-up in the first race and currently leading Team Rolatia in the points after Ragji's massive engine problem in the 13th lap after bumping into Bo Kristoffer the lap before, finished a poor 13th. The team are hoping for a decent qualifying round

LeCroix hot in qualifying, KeFlinger can't keep up; fined for outburst
Times still close, exciting race predicted

Scott LeCroix had a great day in qualifying today, pushing the car to 4th and keeping within a fine race day of getting TCR's second consecutive win to start off the season. James KeFlinger, however, started strong but couldn't keep the car in pace, and placed 14th on the starting grid. His poor second effort prompted him to a swearing outburst while in the pitlane, in full view of reporters and F1GP officials. Officials have stated that he will race, and has been penalized with only a fine.

KeFlinger has not returned calls on the issue, and team & F1GP officials have declined to comment further.

Motorace dot com had a detailed report on the travails of Roger Stoddard. "He looked a world beater at the Secloring," it said. "He looks an egg beater at Istanil.

"How can a driver change so much in such a short space of time? In qualifying at the Secloring he manhandled an ill-handling brute to eleventh, taking time to get used to the power he had to handle, and his overtaking moves on Morgan and Daniels were wonderful moves, well thought out and gutsy. Fifth place and four points were just reward.

"But he cannot deal with the chicanes here. It's almost as if he is not concentrating. As it is, after the first session he is slower than everyone bar the hapless Dejure-Rihad, and was even beaten by his brother who was running experimental set-ups and not seeking a time.

"Team-mate Turner appears to be a competent enough journeyman but already twice this season he has outdriven the ostensible number one driver.

"Maybe he needs better motivation. Jeff Jordan is an irascible character at the best of times and dealing with him daily must be knife-edge territory. Easygoing Turner can deal with it, but it cannot help much if you're being told that your brother will replace you at any moment.

"Time will tell."

TCR bouncing back from Krytenia debacle
KeFlinger's one track mind produces fastest time in Istanil

James KeFlinger and Twin Crescent Racing are looking to bounce back in Istanil after failing to even finish in the GP of Krytenia, as KeFlinger produced the fastest practice time in the course.

"I just went all robot out there. It's a pretty bland track, and everything looks the same. If I actually focused during the run, I might've bored myself into the walls."

KeFlinger was definatly in the zone, producing a best time of 57.302 seconds, and going no higher than 57.309 during his five laps of actual testing. His most outrageous mistake throughout the whole test session was nothing more than going wide into the top chichanes, which occured during the warmups.

LeCroix, on the otherhand, had a mediocre day, finishing at 14th in the standings and with a best time of 57.333 seconds. "I didn't have as good a day, it just seemed to me like it was so boring. I couldn't focus square on the track; I kept looking at the scenery. I just screwed it up. It's alright, though, everyone on this team has experience winning from midpack."

LivEng Racing dominates qualifying
For two races in a row, LivEng Racing has dominated the qualifying sessions, finishing near or at the top of the pile. However, with the World Cup, as well as NSCL and NSFA Cups actively underway, F1GP seems to have, pardon the pun, taken a back seat in the nation. More to come on the developing season.

Wilkins, TCR pack top 3
Chips falling to place for another victory

Troy Wilkins of LivEng Racing and both TCR pilots James KeFlinger and Scott LeCroix all secured top spots in qualifying in Istanil. All three pilots crossed with fastest times of 57.3 seconds, leaving all separation to come from the 2nd fastest, where LeCroix dropped pace.

The GP seems to be setting up for a showdown between Wilikins and KeFlinger, with LeCroix almost assured 3rd at best. Both pilots had neckbreaking paces in qualifying and practice, splitting the bests of each session between them. However, the favor seems tipped in TCR's balance, with a highly conservative race strategy that could put KeFlinger ahead of Wilkins. Here, it'll be all reliability.

Daniels crashes out as Wilkins takes victory
Troy Wilkins claimed both pole and the checquered flag at the first-ever Grand Prix of Istanil at the Tour de Istanil circuit for the first-ever LivEng Racing F1GP victory. After the race, the LivEng Racing team directors all hailed it as a "tremendous achievement", not equal to anything they'd seen. The team will now undoubtedly be looking to build on this with just Mt. Melanis seperating this race from the team's home circuit in Orean.

IGPA Press Release

David Smith and Alexander Richardson both encountered hard luck yesterday at the Tour de Istanil Circuit, each failing to place despite excellent qualifying runs.
The number 17 car, driven by David Smith, encountered engine trouble about 3/4 of the way through the race, and he spent quite a long time in the pits while the mechanic tried to sort things out. There appears to be something wrong with the number 17 car though, as a similar problem happened last week at Krytenia. Richardson stayed going throughout the race, but had a quite un-impressive time. He said that "The power-steering locked up", but it appears more likely that he was just not driving well.

Jeff Jordan was upbeat in front of the Press. "We're proud of our 100% finishing record. We want to learn to walk before running. And we've scored points already, we're well ahead of schedule."

He then sprinted to the team caravan, where the Press heard various words being addressed at approximately 117dB to his drivers, along the lines of "rubbish", "farcical", "idiotic", "shambles" and "Chanoch Nissany".

However the Wentland team hope to get some better results at a circuit more conducive to their car.

Jeff Jordan was ebullient after qualifying. "Third row! Brilliant, Roger, brilliant! Maybe a podium!"

The slog in the untimed session working on a race set-up might now pay dividends...the car had felt unusually good at Mount Melanis, so perhaps a really good finish was on the cards...

Jeff Jordan was ebullient in a press conference after the race. "Fourth! Bloody brilliant! And we still have a hundred per cent finishing rate!"

And indeed Stoddard had had an excellent drive. A mercurial start saw him leap to second place, where he held a long queue of impatient traffic for the first third of the race; the Stellar was a little tardy, but he drove fairly and calmly under pressure.

Only in the pits was he passed, firstly by Ragji, who took advantage of the queue to pit early and bang in a few monstrously fast laps to climb from midfield to towards the front, and then by Morgan at the second, who had short-fuelled at the first stop and also gained a few places.

However, Stoddard's nursing of tyres saw him increase speed towards the end and he took a couple of cars along with him away from the seething pack. In the end he was a short but safe 1.1 seconds clear of Phillips. Richardson managed to join the "break" leaving behind a veritable peloton fighting out over seventh place and two crucial points, Bob Turner being the only blight on the Wentland team's weekend when a banzai move for 9th did not quite come off and a half-spin sent him back down a couple of places; he only just recovered in time to hold off Vernon.

Ragji - King of the Comeback
Thomas Ragji managed to re-gain control of the Driver's Championship and keep a second consecutive double for Rolatia after sensationally coming from a qualifying position on the eighth row to finish second. Ragji is becoming rather notorious for doing this - he frequently has jumped many places between the qualifying and the race, but this was a more magnificent one than most.

Thomas Ragji is now leading the Driver's Championship, five points clear of James KeFlinger of Twin Crescent Racing. Third is Scott LeCroix of TCR, and fourth is William Sralt, who failed to finish this race but has looked stronger overall than last year. Team Rolatia have 38 points to TCR's 34, with no other teams in sight. It's going to be a pitched battle through the season.

Strong day for TCR following LeCroix victory at home
Slim lead of Rolatia in danger of toppling

Scott LeCroix and James KeFlinger both had strong days in practice at Liverpool England, setting top 5 times and staying on pace with Team Rolatia's William Sralt. Team Rolatia currently holds a tenious 4 point constructor's lead, with a 5 point driver's lead held by Rolatia's Thomas Ragji. TCR packs behind them, and with continued success, can come out on top.

Sralt finally grabs a win while Ragji feels the heat
William Sralt has finally managed to get his first GP win today, and made it a double-perfect win by leading in all three days. This is an unrivalled performance, not even gained by Ragji yet, and has propelled the eager driver to third in the rankings, a mere three points behind Ragji himself. He said today "The weekend at Liverpool England was one of the best weekends of my racing career. I'm shocked I even managed to win, let alone winning all three days." Meanwhile, Thomas Ragji was not so hot, only taking 4th - not a bad performance, but thanks to his rival KeFlinger's second he now leads by just two points. Meanwhile, Team Rolatia are now 8 points clear in the Constructor's Championship. A team official told our journalist "We're not going to get cocky. We remember the astonishing Casarian constructor's win last year - we can't afford to be complacent"

Roger and Bob expected eruptions from Jeff Jordan after the desultory appearance at Liverpool England. However they were pleasantly surprised. "Sorry, lads, I made a mistake on the design for this circuit. Won't happen again." Bob apologized for his spin but Jeff brushed it off. "Good to see you were trying."

Perhaps chastened for the race at Tur Vidoro, the three drivers were a little circumspect but managed to nail some half-decent times in the first practice. As usual Scott concentrated on race set-up and showed some promise. This time however Bob Turner abandoned some of his time blitzing to do so as well, so both were well behind Roger Stoddard. The hope was that Roger's telemetry could translate into practice times for both whereas 2 drivers working on the race setup could lead to better race performances.

Jordan had the clock on Roger Stoddard's qualifying. He had looked r-i-i-i-g-h-t on the ragged edge on the monitors, to the brink of disaster, just pulling it back in time. It looked a good one. Oh, it looked a good one.

Coming out of the final corner and nailing it down the straight. The blip as he changed up through the semi-auto. Across the line and Jordan had to look twice at the monitor. As he did so he was vaguely aware of a cacophony of whoops, hollers and high fives behind him. One twelve point five DEAD. It was the fastest of the session. Pole was within reach.

Alas the effort of the first lap was immense and the second lap was not so neat. A couple of minor wobbles - which the TCR did not suffer. A couple of tenths gone and so was 1st on the grid. But never mind. One twelve point eight, just shy, and on corrected times Roger Stoddard was heading for a front row position.

Bob Turner went out to emulate his team-mate. Unfortunately he could not match the ragged edge performance of Stoddard. Although in truth his first lap was perfectly respectable. "One thirteen, Bob, just keep it tight," came the voice of the chief engineer over the radio - but Bob Turner thought it was too slow, went barrelling into turn 7 and overshot by a degree. By the time he had it sorted out he had lost seconds and the rest of the circumspect lap was damage limitation. Had it not been for Vernon driving as if he were blindfolded Turner would have been dead last.

"Second on the grid," thought Jeff Jordan. "Not bad. Also second last. Not good."

The Stellar team went to work on the gearbox software...could they generate another banzai start - and actually LEAD a Grand Prix for the first time?

KeFlinger Poles, LeCroix in 5 in Ma-Tek

James KeFlinger captured first for qualifying yesterday in Ma-Tek, as this years F1GP season draws to a close. Scott LeCroix came in 5th to start the day, as TCR prepares to win another race this season and secure 1st in the Constructer's championship. Wentland's Roger Stoddard came in a surprising 2nd, but isn't expected by experts to remain there - the team is relatively underfunded, and parity isn't exactly the buzzword in F1GP, as the only two teams really in contention are TCR and Team Rolatia, who combined scored more points this season than every other F1 team put together.

KeFlinger seemed almost perfect in his laps, seemingly unphased by his top-2 counterpart Stoddard's blazing first lap, although his second was slightly off. KeFlinger swung his car around quickly throught the wide turns, allowing him to barrel down the straights consistantly, wheras Stoddard seemed to fight against the inadequate suspension of his car for his blazing lap, which caught up to him on his second run.

KeFlinger is hoping for his 2nd outright win, and the team's third of the season, in order to secure the Driver's and Constucter's Championship.

(sorry for being out for a while, I had a social stud. project that sucked up a lot of time.)

"All lights are on...and it's GO!!!!

"And Stoddard gets a DEMON start and leads into the first corner...KeFlinger second, Sralt third...Dejure has bogged a bit and is in mid-pack...Kristoffer's up to fourth and Phillips has barrelled up into seventh, a great start by him..."

Jeff Jordan watched with glee as Roger Stoddard kept a baying KeFlinger at bay for the first lap, out of the final corner and the Stellar had a lap in the lead under its belt. And then a second and a third as the familiar train of cars followed behind. And a fourth and a fifth.

"We're going to get killed in the pit-stops", said chief engineer Tim Randolph. "Never mind," said Jordan, "enjoy it while it lasts."

The car was heavy on fuel but could keep the TCR behind. Jordan noted with interest Ragji making an early stop and turning some ultra-fast laps with no traffic. But Stoddard was looking comfortable at the front.

Then came lap 9. Stoddard led, but KeFlinger was losing patience and was making more and more darts around the back of the Stellar. It looked as if Stoddard had it under control, but the TCR tried a move that was never on into the final corner. Jordan watched aghast as KeFlinger's front left ploughed into the right rear of Stoddard, sending the Stellar into a half-aerial-spin - and by the time he was sorted out a dozen cars had gone past. The fact that the TCR had a deranged suspension and was heading up the escape road did not mollify Double J.

"What the...BLOODY ARSE!!! He's just cost me a bloody VICTORY!!!" Jordan had to be restrained physically from barrelling up to the TCR pit to have it out with a contrite KeFlinger. And although Jeff Jordan is not exactly built like a brick outhouse he has plenty of fight in him...

Almost un-noticed Bob Turner retired from the back of the field with a smoky engine - and Stoddard, wrestling with an ill-handling car, could make no impact. Indeed following the race some suspension damage was found, as the Stellar hit the ground from the impact with KeFlinger.

Ah well. Another race, another dollar...

The Rolatian Telegraph
Historic second defence leaves Rolatians celebrating
Rolatians were in the streets last night as the hero-worshipped Thomas Ragji and Team Rolatia managed to take their second double F1 title in a thrilling climatic race at Sonic the Hedgehog GP. The title had come as a surprise, but what was more thrilling was the lengths it was won at.

The weekend started well for the team. Nick Fasre lead the practice round, with Ragji close behind on third and William Sralt in twelth. This was a good result, and Ragji improved on this to second in qualifying - Sralt was not so lucky, finishing last and a whole 9 seconds behind pole position. In the race itself, it was a tough ordeal. Sralt was constantly last and finished around two and a half minutes adrift of winner Scott LeCroix (of TCR). However, Ragji was in a tight battle in the top five spots (excluding LeCroix who had ran away with the win). He managed to start getting away from Alsahm ux-Rihad and Duo Maxwell, a full ten seconds ahead by lap 45, but was constantly under threat from the prominent rising star Roger Stoddard of Wentland and only secured second by six seconds. This gave himself a 13-point lead at the top of the Driver's Championship - with William Sralt himself second - and Team Rolatia 22 points clear of TCR, meaning that they had functionally won.

The fans were out in full force post-race. Street parties and processions were being held everywhere, from Ranaria down to Aquas. Even the Prime Minister was jubiliant, calling the next day a public holiday in celebration. The team themselves will be happy but will be looking forward to next season and a historic third championship.

The clock did not lie, the times were not great. After the euphoria of a podium Jordan thought that, maybe, they'd turned a corner...he glanced at the bottles of champagne in the corner. Guess they'll only be to celebrate the end of the season after all, he thought. Be nice if Bob got some points, though.

"Bob! Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob. Bob. Bob. What happened, Bob?"

"Er, tyre delamination. Could barely hang on to it."

"Well, Bob, we're having to change strategy. Rog is in 5th, after all, so we're going to fuel you up to the gunwales and have you run without a stop. You never know, if you're not fast you could at least be consistent.

"Rog, we need a banzai start from you again...3rd row to 1st by the first corner is not outrageous...then just hold them all up..."
