The Qualifying Round draw was mad on IRC channel 'sport at approx 22.00 GMT this evening

The Holy Synod of the Archregimancy wish to express their concern at the lack of sanity displayed during the recent qualifying draw for the NSFA Champions' League.

"Krytenia assure us the draw was mad" said a senior archimandrite, speaking on condition of anonymity. "Have they perhaps considered toning things down for future broadcasts? We simply can't go showing Champions' League events live on Monastic TV if this is the sort of unholy and blasphemous behaviour demonstrated by the organisers."

Reds, West Prepare for Champions Leage

This weekend will see the Chicanada play host for qualifying action of the NS Champions League title.

The Kodiak nation, which has seen teams make it to the final knockout stages (Douala made the semifinals in CL6 and Township made the last 16 in the previous edition, which saw reigning champs Isara Daii win the title from previous champs Yeaddin Owls in Southampton) has high hopes for reigning FA Cup finalist and frontrunner in the SuperCup, Astur City Reds, as well as the capital's own West FC, who's struggling to compete with the agressive teams in League 1.

Astur City and Cana West will both utilize the Depot Centre for the tournament opening round. The 45,000 seat stadia will see West take on Irkutsk from Hockey Canada on Friday, and the team has used it's time off to train at the home of Astur Depot for the week. The south Cana stadia expects to be full the next day when the Reds play host to Isky Prynne.

Neither team, of course, wants to be ousted this early as they are the only hopes to bring some light to the Kodiak nation after two rather bitter World Cup qualification rounds saw the Kodiaks slip into the 50s. With the Reds poised to take a triple this season (possibly facing their main rivals Depot and Rangers of the Midlands in the FA Cup as well as the Premier Cup), some have suggested this could be a test match to make Reds coach Finn Legosan the new coach, as Clint Dempsey has not agreed to another year as he tries to get his Southampton squad to the top level of the SuperCup and the CFA has basically said that the National Side should be mostly made up of players from Star Point, Depot, City and Rangers - the most dominant sides regardless of Douala capturing the last Liga title.

We shall see how Legosan and West's Glen Haupstein do in their opening games on Friday.

Sirake Tekim: We are back here from the news for the last minutes of the matches in the Champions League and of course we will report live from the last minutes of the two Rejistanian matches in Conference mode! First to Hana Kansu who reports from Xkora:

Hana Kansu: Minardi'he can not be satisfied with his team today, we only have 5 minutis and the xcore is still 0:0, The o'lethorpians had some 'roblems and the typical o'lethorpian buerocracy made the match also a bit slow. After every card and before every standard situation forms had to be filled out... no wonder the Oglethorpian soccer is on a steady decline. Tasakedelana'he has the ball, Puce'he trijes to intervere here but no suxsess, The seleken winger passes to Ijil'he, Greenish-Yellow'he and Some-weird-shade-of-purple'he are markinh the striker but Ijil'he... he shoots, he was not in a good position... Goalie Slategrey ca~en catch the ball, it bouncis out of his hands, Hiriele.... XKORA! Hirieleseletese Asahelekimi was there and scored! Officials rush to the field with many forms, so we switch to Hetkali.
Idin Sihan: Here is no much happeninh, the Gallo FC tryjis attackinh but the hetaklian devensi very good! No chance they have reachinh anyh~sinh h~sis way.... *whistle is heard* and that is h~e end, Hetlasane Hetkali vins 3:0 against Gallo FC!
Hana Kansu: and the matech endes here as vell. 1:0 for the seleken team, no one can pronounce is the vinal scoreline!

Chaialim hoping to rebound in NSFA Cup

This past year has not been a good one for Chaialim. Since they made the NSFA Cup three years their team has gone downhill. Eventhough there have not been many changes to the roster, other teams like the Rising Fireballs have made competition rough and fierce. Currently fifth in the league behind sides that they use to beat like the Norman Spartans and the Rising Fireballs. Chaialim are now looking to this international cup to stop all their worries and only hope that some momentum here will lead to better things in the MFL.
Now here is the roster they will use:

Chaialim 3-3-1-3
GK Shawn Winnerlin- He's not a great goalie and seen by many as the problem with club. Unfortunately for Chaialim there is no one better so he stays.
D Miles Brandon- Good defender. Was once a member of the Milchamian national squad way back when. Now just plays good in club soccer.
D Kyoga Marcazumi- A starter on the Warriors he is their best defender. A young talent and rising many expect Marcazumi to be the best defender Milchama has ever had.
D Mariosz Florfenord- Was also once a starter on the Warriors. Then in WC XXV he was a sub and now he's a reserve player. Big and slow but is very good at positioning himself at the exact right place.
M Iokay- The man with one name is pretty much a great Brazilian playmaker. A central midfielder who gets the ball to Copperlee to get the offense started.
M Smith Williams- A competent winger. Good player who does not bring much onto the table but doesn't take much off it either. Good team player.
M Avraham Rosenberg- Fast reliable winger. Good at making plays with his legs and with the ball. Not on the national team because his crosses stink.
I Dunston Copperlee- Best player ever produced in Milchama so far. He just keeps on racking in great plays for national side but espiecially his club team where he has led them in goals and assists the last 4 years.
F Mikael Sorbenson
F Marlon Witherspoon
F Kenny Flinner

No reason to say anything about the strikers as they are unimportant.
Subs:
F Hans Morrison
F Morris Clinton
GK Fletcher Dwame

Reds Escape To The Second Round, Prep for New Montreal States

Finn Legosan looks rather good to the CFA as his Astur City Reds held off a pesky Isky Prynne to advance to the second qualifying round yesterday.

While things weren't as rosy in the western sector of the captial, with Cana West heading out after a disaterous 5-0 aggregate against Irkutsk, the Reds took solace in scoring a 1-0 victory on the road Friday and used a nil-all result to advance to today's action in the New Montreal States against Sherbrooke Est.

While the Reds should make the NSFA group stage if they are ousted, Coach Legosan wanted to talk more about continuing the Chicanadan streak of two consecutive Ro16 qualifiers and hoping his Reds squad can continue the streak. Of course, he and his team, now led by former Star Point star and National side captain Olani Pjan, refuse to look past Sherbrooke or the opportunity playing in NST can bring to the crown jewel of Chicanadan footy.

Notes: Astur City Reds play in a modified 3-4-3 setup. Roster available upon request (or when I remember to post it).

Sijitalatirikimidatema managed to equalize the score in their second-round match in the 88th minute. Ihikelenamatesekiri Sejinamahekelili was substituted in in the 80th minute after an injury of striker Sejikuju. Before, the match was not too well, Xkora did not find into the match and quickly was behind one goal. They simply could not cope with the hisisim match, Stockton Oilers played.

Samu arrested

According to our sources in Nedalia, "Samu" was arrested after the loss of his Hetlasane to Aanjar FC in Nedalia and was released on bail of an unknown amount. After the Hetlasane lost, he apparently lost control, insulted several journalists and grasped the camera of one of them and stepped on it. Hetlasane Hetkali refuses to comment. Ikaru Jenji said: "I do not comment on everything, your fish-wrapping* writes!"

FC Looking For Success In NSFA Champions League

Game 1 - First Qualifying Round
Ajer FC 2 Aletike Ustin 2

KRYTENIA - It was a sunny day on the first game of the qualifying round of the NationStates Football Association Champions League 8. LIDYT Champions Ajer FC were ready, their shirts tucked in, stretching and excercising, impatient for the game to begin, and fo them to excercise their talent.

It would be a fairly lacadasically boring game, with attacks on both sides. FC dominated the majority of the game, holding onto the ball, then firing a quick succession of passes. They could not, however, understand the defense of the Pedrianian side, and went on the concede two goals, while scoring the same amount.

Game 2 - First Qualifying Round
Ajer FC 3 Aletike Ustin 0 (Ajer FC advance 5-2 on aggregate)

KRYTENIA - The second game dawned with very much the same weather as the first, with clear skies and not even a m=hint of anything which would obscure the streaming rays of sunshine. It was obvious that the FC coach, who also coaches the national team, had given the players one of his little "pep talks". They needed to win to advance. It was as simple as that.

This time, it seemed that the Yaforite side had the Pedrianian defense figured out. A quick goal by superstar Francisco Malar put the Yaforites ahead, as it turn out, for good. Tirunyl Kievani's goal in the 56th minute solidified that lead, and Malar made the third, in minute 89, to much pomp.

Game 1 - Second Qualifying Leg
Ajer FC 1 Florence Lions 1

KRYTENIA - Their latest game was a boring draw.

Chaialim use first leg victory to advance

The Chaialim Soldiers used their 4-2 road leg victory to advance over Casaran side Tyrellia City 4-3 on aggregate. The first leg could not have gone better for Chaialim who dominated it from start to finish. The first half went completely in favor of Chaialim who had 65% of the possesion and used it well. The first goal by Copperlee in the 12th minute was only a sign of things to come. While City scored only 5 minutes later, the Soldiers responded in a huge fashion as Copperlee found Kenny Flinner all alone in the box and Flinner didn't miss his finish to give Chaialim a 2-1 lead. That lead would be extended to 3-1 before halftime as Copperlee would get a second goal thru Marlon Witherspoon.

In the second half the Soldiers pretty much sat back and defended their lead. Chances were short as Chaialim again dominated possesion. This time tough instead of going forward Chaialim just seemed to sit on their lead. They did do some attacking and that led to a goal by Avraham Rosenberg as he came charging in from the left. At 4-1 the Soldiers seemed almost to willing to let City do what they want with the ball and some lax defending led to a goal in the 87th minute.

The second leg was a boring 0-1 affair where City scored an early goal but could not do anything else as Chaialim collapsed backwards and went Karelan.

'pines in comfortable win over Vaksh Q

ALEXANDRIA -- Some thought the golden age was finally over for the Alexandria Porcupines, the dominators of the Bedistan Premier League in the '70s and '80s. But on the international stage at least, the 'pines are still living large, up 2-0 over Tadjik side Vaksh Qorgontheppa after the first leg in the Third Qualifying Round of the Champions League.

Dominic Brown, the youngest of Alexandria's three starting strikers, bagged both goals in the contest, though both were admittedly fairly unremarkable.

The two sides will play the second leg in Tadjikistan tomorrow.

Translated from http://www.karela-lines.esv.rj

Champions League groups announced

The Lines will face Sunnyslope FC from the Takilan hellhole* of FMJPhoenix, Alexandria Porcupines from Bedistan and North Fence Pushing from the Liverpool England first league. Yes, we have no clue how to pronounce these names. No, this does not have any value to us as long as we defeat them highly. The Liverpool English team will be greeted by many religious symbols of Hanta-inikresaism and satanism, because the team is Kingsfordian and that nation still causes dark thoughts for rejistanians. A certain match which 'never happened' is not out of the minds. Also the match between the Takilans and the Karelans will be very interesting!

Sunnyslope FC looks forward to group matchups

With the group stage decided, Sunnyslope FC finds itself with one team that it knows well and two other teams from nations that Fmjphoenix has many ties and history with. Here is what it looks like.

Karela Lines (REJ)
Sunnyslope FC (FMJ)
Alexandria Porcupines (BDS)
North Fence Pushing (LEN)

Karela Lines is a team that Slope knows much about. The Rejistanian squad is the opposite of the Fmjphoenix Takil Lines. But the only takil that will be here is from Slope's powerful trio of strikers, who will be looking to put as many past the Karelan squad that it can.

Alexandria Porcupines hails from Bedistan, one of Fmjphoenix's rivals. One of the Bedistan's premier leagues top teams for many years, this should be a good matchup of two top teams in their respective leagues.

North Fence Pushing comes out of Liverpool England, a nation who helped get Fmjphoenix off of the ground in their inagural cup in World Cup 18. Although Sunnyslope does not know much off this team, it expect to be a good friendly match between the friendly nations.

Loony "Lions" in (almost) all-AO group

KRYTENIA -- Most people on the street would not be able to tell you who the Justus Lions are. This seems strange, as they would seem to be a relatively formidable force in Bedistani football, seeing as how they're in the group stage of this year's Champions League.

"The Lions?" asked some guy on the street in Justus. "Well, that's the national team, of course, but they're not based here. Unless some weirdo typoed on the Loons or something."

Hmm...he actually does have a plausible explanation. So for the purposes of the remainder of this article, we're going to assume the 2087 Bedistan Premier League champion Justus Loons are the ones participating.

Joining the Loons in their group are:

Caledon Simpson (Krytenia)
2nd in KLF Overleague Season 6
Simpson are currently one of Krytenia's hottest teams, having come out of nowhere in just three seasons to win the Overleague and the Atlantian Oceania Champions League. Will they burn out quickly or go the distance?

Dorpar AC (Nedalia)
4th in Nedalia Premier League Year 4
Not a whole lot is known about this team except that they have never finished outside the top six in the Premier League. With the Nedalia domestic program being one of the better new ones, expect Dorpar to put up a fight.

Sherbrook Est (New Montreal States)
Absolutely nothing is known about this team, which actually worries us. Remember World Cup Ten.

Porcupines in group of rivals

KRYTENIA -- Meanwhile, in Group 7, the 2081 Bedistan Premier League champion Alexandria Porcupines will be seeing slightly more familiar names in their group:

Karela Lines (Rejistania)
Arguably the most famous domestic club in the world, the Yellows are the ones that originally infected the world with System Karela. Thus, it's pretty easy to assume they are the masters of the tactic and will most likely get either 0-0 or 1-0 results in all their Champions League matches.

Sunnyslope FC (Fmjphoenix)
They competed in the second AO Champions League, but that's really all we know about them. However, on a national level, Bedistan and Fmjphoenix have recently become fierce rivals, so expect the Alexandria-Sunnyslope match to be an interesting one.

North Fence Pushing (Liverpool England)
Again, little is known about the club itself, except that it actually played in Kingsford a long time ago. However, the Fmjphoenix-Bedistan situation applies here as well, only more so, with a rivalry extending back some seventy years.

Of particular note is that none of the teams in Group 7 save Alexandria are competing in ongoing domestic leagues to our knowledge (media coverage of both the H1SR and the Liverpool England league ended many years ago). This should give the Porcupines a distinct advantage over their competitors, as they will surely be vastly more experienced.

Great Alexandria thru to the group stage

Great Alexandria has advanced past Farela City of Kaze Progressa in third round of the Champions League qualifying stage. They barely beat Farela on the road 3-2 before dominating the return the leg and winning 2-0. That gave them a 5-2 aggregate win and a ticket to advance to play in the NSCL group stage. The draw for Great Alexandria looked like this:
GROUP EIGHT
Jungle Strike FC (VIL)
Sonoma Center Panthers (COM)
Darkness United (LEN)
Great Alexandria (MIL)

It is a tough draw and pits the Alexandrians against three legendary nations in International football. While maybe at the club level they have not enjoyed it looks to be an uphill for the Alexandrians. Now excuse me while I continue to riot in the streets and protest the Limads. Vote Communist International!

Kanavan'he's boyfriend?

(picture of the karelan player holding hand with a dark, male person, who is apparently a minokaje and not majuvedian as Kanavan'he. The photograph is without any resemblance of quality. )

We do not know this person but as it seems, Visnu and he are having fun together. Visnu and the person left the Kanavan'he house, went through the Hank~hila-Sede-Park to the central station in Hanin, where we lost their trail. The temple of Karela was unfazed by the news: "As long as Kanavan'he's friend is not takilan, we can accept the relationship between him and another man. There is nothing in our religion, which outlaws homosexuality." Visnu Kanavan refused to comment but a person from his family, which preferred to be anonymous said: "That surely was a 'jeti from 'nina! Ila or Ilha or something like that is his name!"

Late goal dooms Great Alexandria

A late goal by Serge Dupont, doomed Great Alexandria to a loss against Jungle Strike FC in the first matchday of the NSCL proper. Coach Nir Ballmer said, "This was a good start to the tournament. While we may not have the result we would have liked it is definitely a much better start than we did in the AOCL and we qualified for the second round there. I bet we can do it here as well."
Now onto the match report:

The Alexandrians started the match well. They played some good soccer as they tried to take the game to their opponents from Vilita. Unfortunately for them the Vilitans were too good and started to get some balls in to the other direction. The game became pretty boring after that as both teams struggled to control the midfield and neither team could do it effectively. Finally around the 70th minute Jungle Strike started to control the midfield. This controlling meant some good chances for the Vilitans as Dupont just missed a header in the 74th and a corner kick in the 79th was barely saved by a diving Mario Paquili. Great Alexandria had one last chance at a counter attack in the 82nd minute and it almost produced a goal when a diving Yonatan Mitayel hit his header wide of the post. The ensuing goal kick secured the doom for the side from Milchama though when a cross by Santo Kecker found Serge Dupont whose kick from 6 yards did not miss and sent the visitors home happy with a 1-0 victory.
Final Score:
Great Alexandria 0 (At least we could have scored)
Jungle Strike FC 1 (Dupont 84)

LE clubs fall short
All three Liverpool England clubs still involved in the Champions League failed to make major progress on Matchday One of the group stage. Let's take a look at the groups featuring LE clubs.

GROUP FOUR
Hungry Palls (LEN)
Polyesterhampton FC (OGL)
Mercia Bromham (KRY)
Sukatra Tigers (BET)

Hungry Palls, Liverpool England league defending champions from two seasons ago (2139/40 season is currently suspended), are in a group where no particular team jumps out at you. They were the only LE team to pick up points on Matchday 1 with a 3-3 away draw in Bettia.

GROUP SEVEN
Karela Lines (REJ)
Sunnyslope FC (FMJ)
Alexandria Porcupines (BDS)
North Fence Pushing (LEN)

A group for North Fence Pushing that includes teams from rival nations. Rejistanian team Karela Lines have already promised a stiff welcome for the team due to its Kingsfordian roots - interestingly enough however no Kingsfordian has played on the team in the least six years. Fmjphoenix, with whom national team the Terminators have a friendly rivalry, contribute Sunnyslope to the group, alongside Bedistani heavyweights Alexandria Porcupines. Pushing did their qualification chances no good as they went down at home 2-0 to Karela Lines.

GROUP EIGHT
Jungle Strike FC (VIL)
Sonoma Center Panthers (COM)
Darkness United (LEN)
Great Alexandria (MIL)

Darkness United were the sucess story of last season in the Liverpool England league. Newly promoted, they were bottom of their league group at the halfway mark. However, they turned things around and managed to top the group. They went on to joint-third in the league playoffs, securing their spot in continental action, where their first match against foreign opposition produced a 3-1 home loss to the CapitaliZt Panthers.

NSFA Champions League!

OK, we've being a little slack here. We don't have anyone covering the NSFA CL9 because everyone is at the World Cup 26. So we had to go send Crazy Dave the Comedian to do some work.

We're at the Group stage now, and Jerusalem United didn't make while Syrian North did. Beersheba United didn't make either, so it's down the Syrians to fly the flag. To be really fair to Beersheba and Jerusalem United, their best players are at the World Cup while Syrian North never seem to have many players at the International level.

GROUP TWO
NM Patriots (NMS) 2-4 Vogsphere United (SQU)
Jhanna City (STB) 2-3 Rappor FC (NED)

Crazy Dave says there's a Nedalian team in Group 2, Rappor FC. They wion their game 3-2 against Jhanna City. Good start with win, best way to go.

GROUP THREE
Butetown Dragons (BET) 4-2 Syrian North (JER)
Dereapolis City (KRY) 1-2 Corinthian Spirits (STB)

Crazy Dave watched the Bettian team Butetown Dragons who play Syrian North. It was a great game but the Dragons won 4-2 and well, the Syrians need some defense. The scoreline looked bad, but it was not the 5-0 or 4-0 win by an opponent which seems to be common in the Champions League here. Two goals down isn't a total embarrassment. The Syrians did miss their World Cup players here.

As for predictions, we don't publish them for the Champions League as we get it all wrong.

Through the (de-)fence

The Yellows defeated the former Kingsfordian team 2:0 in the away game. The rejistanians are not really friends of Kingsford and wthat was not a really one-sided affair, the Lines'he'ny heard anti-inikresaist or Christian fan-chants from the fans of North Fence. However the 'God will make us win' was silenced very fast when midfielder Kameril Janjal scored the leading goal in the 5th minute. Janjal'he said he was 'lucky as a bug' that the shot went in. The Karelans after that became moredefensive and still seeked the occasional counter-attack. However North fence nearly equalized in the 42nd minute after a corner kick, but Visnu Kanavan tipped the ball over the bar. Striker Ka~nsu Kansu could use a counter-attack to ensure the 2:0 in the 76th minute. Despite countless attacks, the Karelan defense and a great Kanavan'he (even tough that is redundant) were able to cope with all chances of the formerly christian team. Now the Christian chants were replaced by the "Divensi - 'aru'xen!" and similar chants of the Lines supporters.

North Fence Pushing 0
ja
Karela Lines 2 (Janjal 5th, Kansu 76th)

BTW: Lines is rejistanian for 'yellow' and not related to the word lines! "Karela" itself does not mean defense, the term "system karela" was named after that team, which was named after the kalesa of KaMaRi. The etymology of "karela" is: Kae're la, which is majuvedanian for "4 clearings".

Slope draws Porcupines to a 2-2 standstill

The first match for Sunnyslope FC in the NSFA Champions League was an exciting 2-2 draw with the Alexandria Porcupines hailing from Bedistan. Geoffrey Serna scored both goals for Slope, one to equalize at the end of the first half, and the last to equalize with two minutes remaining in the match. Domonic Brown gave the Porcupines the lead after only five minutes with a nice header into the upper right corner just out of reach for Terrence Herman. It looked as if Slope would equalize up ten minutes later, but when Terrence Mcalister went to take a shot, his left leg was swept out from under him and he hit the ground hard. Thorben Ernst came in and took the free shot for Mcalister, but it was no good. But Serna came through and put one past in the final minute of the first half, bringing it 1-1.

Again in the second half, the Porcupines took another early lead. Their second goal came off of the foot of Ruben Santos, who seemed utterly suprised that his shot went through. But the goal was good and gave Alexandria a lead that it looked like it would keep until the end. But Serna would have none of that. Disvandis Ruiz-Tagle gave an excellent cross to Serna, and he sent it in with a beautifully executed scissors kick that left Max Manzanares stunned. The 2-2 draw puts both Alexandria and Sunnyslope tied for 2nd place behind Karela Lines, who beat North Fence Pushing 2-0.

Monastic League Champions Pantocrator MFC, participating in their first NSFA Champions League tournament, shocked Nedalian squad Aanjar FC 3-0 at Christ Pantocrator Stadium overnight. A surprisingly dominant display saw Fr. Zeno the Isaurian score a first-half hattrick against a Nedalian squad apparently blinded by the setting sun reflecting off the iconostasis placed behind the home goal.

The victory goes some way towards compensating for the 3-1 away loss to Starblaydian squad Vecchio Victors in the opening group 6 match.

"We're in a tough group" wrote Archregimancy national team star Fr. Dmitri the Humble, who would answer interview questions in writing due to his vow of silence "with teams from Starblaydia, Sarzonia, and Nedalia, but this result proves that, God willing, we can match any club team on our day".

PANTOCRATOR MFC SHOCK SARZONIANS

In a shocking shock that's shocked the footballing world, Pantocrator MFC shockingly defeated top Sarzonian side Woodstock Wild away from home overnight through a shocking penalty from Fr. Alexander the Sailor.

"I'm shocked" announced Fr. Alexander, claiming that the decision to award the penalty was itself shocking, and that in a fit of monastic honesty he had attempted to miss the penalty, only for a freak gust of wind to blow the ball into the Woodstock net - a shock turn of events.

MFA officials are unsure how to react to this shocking turn of events, though they hope the squad aren't too shocked, and that they go on to shock the tournament by shockingly making the second round.

From the KaMaRi Update, international edition:

The Magnificent (Group) 7

The Karelans won the second match against the Bedistani Takilans Alexandria Porcupines. The match was very defensively and the only real chance was Kansu'he's shot in the 32nd minute which fortunately went in. From that time on, the karelans played their trademark style. It was pretty much impossible for the players from the unpronouncable team to get any chances against the karelan defense (=team). Bedistani fans demanded their money back after the match but the Karela Lines administration said it was a 'glorious example of Karela'. The magnificent thing of this match was, that suddenly all of KaMaRi liked the Lines'he'ny. Even in the Lounge Takata~o, deep in Ehila~o territory, the match was shown and no boos were heard when the Karela counter-attacked and scored. We expect them to re-appear in the match against Riandu.

From the Na~ovi National:

See goat?

There are several reasons why a karelan team can not win. The most problematic of course is: 'the referee was against us'. Most of the time, it is impossible to prove this. Fortunately the reporters of the National sometimes do not care about minor details as human rights or the law to ring the next story and so, reporters of the National surveilled referee Artur Viesk everywhere: even the toilets he used had cameras installed to check him taking any bribes. This way, we saw him during half-time with some persons, who were surely neither Karelan nor Rejistanian. They offered the negatives of pictures of him doing very interesting things, the public betters does not know about, to goats and other selected barnyard animals if the Takilan Devils win. At that time, the score was 1:0 for the Lines'he ny after a magnificent counter-attack. Therefore in the last minutes of the match, 3 (not really) questionable (but completely unjustified) penalties were awarded to the Takilan Devils. Kanavan'he saved one of them but the Forces of Evil scored twice.

Great Alexandria fall to last place

A poor performance against Liverpool England's Darkness United brought Great Alexandria to last place. The 3-0 defeat, gave the Alexandrians one point thru the first half of the group stage of the NSCL. Significant improvement will be needed if the Alexandrians are thinking about advancing or even playing in the second round of the NSFA Cup. The one bright spot so far in the campaign was the 2 all tie of the Sonoma Center Panthers in Commerce Heights. Outside of that one achievement, the Alexandrians have scored no goals while giving up 6 of their own. Coach Nir Ballmer said, "We have not played well and we have played up to the high standard our fans expect of us. I believe that we can turn the corner we just need one result to go our way and soon many results will go our way."

The key game for the Alexandrians in next week against Jungle Strike FC. In their first match against the Vilitan side, Great Alexandria nearly pulled off a draw and almost everybody believes they deserved the draw. That means that this next match could give the Alexandrians a win. Coach Nir Ballmer said, "I think all we need in one win. With one win then we can start to think that we can play with these guys and beat these guys. The key thing is to get that first victory and that first taste of we're better than them."

Vogsphere Doing Well

Squornshelous' only remaining competitor in the NSFA CL are on top of their group

After dissapointing qualifying round exits by Algolia AK and Chalesm FK, Vogsphere United, the most talented club team Squornshelous has ever seen, are sitting on top of their group with 7 points out of 9. They started off the round with a pair of wins, 4-2 over NM Patriots of New Montreal States and 3-2 over Jhanna City hailing from Starblaydia. These two matches were followed by a 2-2 draw with Rappor FC of Nedalia. Vogsphere is hoping for similar results in the second half of the round, and looking forward to moving deeper into the tournament.

Truth about Karela comes to light, Slope prevails over foul play

Having to face Karela Lines is already bad enough. Having to face them at home is not an easy task. A counter attack provided an early lead for Karela Lines in the 39th minute, and for most of the match it seemed that Sunnyslope was going to face their first loss in the NSFA CL. But in the final minutes of the match, referee Artur Viesk managed to free himself from the spell of the va'karela'ny scattered all over the stadium to wake up and see Rejistanian players kicking the Fmjphonecians without any reservations. He showed yellow cards to three of the Rejistanian defenders who were pummelling on Slope's starting forwards, awarding a penelty shot to each of them, with Eduardo Munoz's being the only one that was saved, giving Sunnyslope a 2-1 victory over the dirty play of Karela Lines.

"Dirty play? Are they out of their MINDS?" Asked Kanavan'he when he saw the news.

"They are truth-resistant Takilans!" replied the defender Sala Imdila

"You know what? They have a 'letters to the editor section, haven't they?" being seleken and striker in the most karelan team is a good sign of insanity and so Itikemelara Hikijenesele normally has the most insane ideas.

"Tell us!" several voices demanded

"You know that oculist in Etju Kihilane?" Itikemelara Hikijenesele waited a bit most of them did. "We send the reporter, who wrote that an invitation to test his vision there!"

The others laughed, that was a goo idea. And so the Karela Lines team wrote a letter to the editor where they asked the reporter to take advantage of the fact that healthcare is cheap in Rejistania and suggested the eye specialist in the 'best kalesa of KaMaRi kali'.

Wild remain in the chase

PANTOCRATOR, The Archregimancy (ASP) -- The Woodstock Wild may be nearing their last hurrah with most of their World Cup veterans preparing to retire from international play and some, such as goalkeeper Horace Sandt, announcing their retirement from the Wild after the season, but they played like a team that still had a lot of fight left to them in the return leg against Pantocrator after a 0:2 win that avenged the Wild's only loss thus far.

"We just had to go in and play Wild football," Coach David Bostwick said. "We were caught flat-footed against Pantocrator last match with a phantom penalty call and we wanted to make sure we weren't caught unawares."

The Wild (2-1-1, second place Group 6) relied on two of their old timers to defeat the monks in the first time a Sarzonian team appeared in the Realm. Forward Brian Wilson scored the first goal of the match 24 minutes in after a well-timed run reminiscent of his younger brother Kevin's aggressive play in the World Cup qualifiers. Wilson pressured Fr. Alexander the Sailor and forced him to make a bad pass that defender Mike Coyle controlled, then sent through to Wilson with a perfect wall pass.

"Playing in the Archregimancy gave me a bit of added energy, I guess," Brian Wilson said. "It's been a sort of fountain of youth. Perhaps we're more blessed than I thought."

Wilson combined with Coyle on the other Wild goal as Coyle moved up to play attacking midfielder for a tiring Ryan Ferrion. Coyle victimised Fr. Alexander again, this time with a nutmeg that left him a step slower than usual. Coyle then passed to Wilson, who drew three defenders to him before he slotted the ball to Coyle for a textbook finish 56 minutes in.

"Coyle can play offensively if we need him," Wilson said of the national team's all-time leading goal scorer among defenders. "We've had him play a full 90 minutes at withdrawn forward in friendlies. We wanted to change things up."

Boring 0-0 draw keeps Alexandria in the hunt

A boring, lifeless 0-0 draw with Darkness United of Liverpool England kept Great Alexandria in the hunt for continuing in international play. The game did not have much to talk about because it was a boring game that was dominated by the midfield. Coach Nir Ballmer said, "This was a game that showed some improvement over our last performance. If we can continue this trend, I think we can suprise some people and get to third place or maybe even the next round of the NSCL."

The game was a tremendous improvement for Great Alexandria as they came from a 4-1 loss on the road to a 0-0 draw at home. That puts them in last place with 2 points from 4 games. Their next game is against the Sonoma Center Panthers, who are in first place with 10 points, the Alexandrians tied them 2-2 last time and are looking for a similar result this time. A win coupled with a Darkness United will put the Alexandrians in third place, their goal for the tournament.

PANTOCRATOR LOSE TO SARZONIANS
Erratic Form Frustrates Captain

In a demonstration that nothing's more unpredictable than international football - except possibly the behaviour of heretics - Pantocrator MFC lost to Sarzonian side Woodstock Wild 2-0 at home overnight, despite winning the first match-up between the two sides 1-0 away.

The Wild seemed unphased by playing at one of the smallest Monastic League venues:

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a319/vakraas/panto.jpg
Exterior of the West Stand of the Miracle-Working Icon of Our Lady Gerontissa

Many a Monastic League team has come unstuck at the hostile atmosphere at Pantocrator, but experienced Wild players Wilson and Coyle twice embarrassed Fr. Alexander the Sailor to give their team the 2-0 win. Fr. Alexander is said to be spending a period of self-reflection in the mountains behind the monastery in order to search his soul for the cause of his poor play.

In a written statement, team captain Fr. Dmitri the Humble is said to be concerned at the squad's inconsistent play, though he further stressed that this first entry of an Archregimancy team into international club competition should be considered a learning experience for all concerned.

PANTOCRATOR IN NARROW LOSS TO VECCHIO VICTORS
Squad Guaranteed Third-Place Finish

A 15th minute goal from Fr. Zeno last night gave Pantocrator an early lead against Starblaydian side Vecchio Victors overnight, but wasn't enough to secure the win. Two heart-breaking late goals from the visitors mean the Monastic League Champions cannot finish in the top two.

"We gave it everything we had" said Fr. Alexander the Sailor "but obviously the Lord our God decided we still need to improve"

Monastic League officials are nonetheless said to be pleased with the team's performance in their first ever international tournament, and hope that next year's Monastic League champions - likely to be Troitsye-Sergiyeva - enter NSFA 9.

"Third place isn't bad" said a senior archimandrite, speaking on condition of anonymity. "We were drawn against teams from Sarzonia and Starblaydia - really top footballing nations with a long-established tradition - so keeping them close is reward enough for our labours in the vineyard of the Lord."

God is dead

This and other anti-Kingsfordian chants were chanted while North Fence Pushing was unable to get through the karelan (in both senses of the word) defense of the "Knights of the Temple". The match between North Fence and Karela Lines was a match, which the rejistanians took very seriously. The opponents are both 'takilan' and 'kingsfordian' at least in their perception of the truth. And so the Karelans played relying highly on counter-attacks and did not pull back into their 10-0-0 after being ahead 1:0 after a counter-attack of the Lines, which made it possible for Kansu Ka~nsu to score. They also didn't pull back after nearlyx conceding wouldn't it be for Kanavan'he's brilliant speed of reaction, but used it for yet-another counter-attack, which Janjal'he converted. After that, North Fence somehow feared to attack and acted more carefully and less successfully. And then something happened, which no Karela Lines fan considered likely: in the 90th minute, Karela Lines attacked and it was not a counter. Yes I am not joking! Ka~nsu once again increased the score. When the group table was shown, chants of "La'kanvali! La'kanvali!" filled the air because Karela Lines had secured a top 2 finishing place.

Apparently we're Karelan

Or at least that is what Great Alexandria must be thinking after their second strait 0-0 draw. This time the opponent was the Jungle Strike FC from Vilita. The result was not a good one for the Alexandrians as this draw eliminated them from advancing further in the NSCL. All is not though for Great Alexandria as they can still get third place and thus advance to the third round of the NSFA Cup. Coach Nir Ballmer put the whole thing in perspective, "We should not be upset with our performance. We have gone farther in this tournament than any other Milchamian team has. If we advance to the third round of the NSFA Cup then we have gone farther than any Milchamian team in that competition. Our excursion into international play can only be looked at with success. Anything else would be just lies to have other people further their own cause for the destruction of the MFL. This is why you must vote..."

Wild through to next round after home win

WOODSTOCK (ASP) -- With the Sarzonian national team currently in Oliverry and the Sarzonian Football Confederation season having concluded, Bryan Marshall Stadium is usually a lonely, empty place this time of year.

However, the venerable grounds played host to Aanjar F.C. from Sarzonia's allies in Nedalia and nearly 50,000 supporters watched the Wild defeat Aanjar 2-1 to book their spot in the next round of the NSFA Champions League behind a five save performance by Stars goalkeeper Horace Sandt and a two goal effort from Brian Wilson.

"We're going to go all out in the last group stage match," Coach David Bostwick said. "We're playing the Vecchio Victors for first place in the group. If we earn that result, we're going to have a better spot in the next round than if we lose or draw."

Indeed, the Wild have 10 points to Vecchio's 11, though a win by the team representing Sarzonia's national capital would thrust them into the group title. Woodstock (3-1-1 in Group 6 play) have a better goal difference earned by conceding only three goals in the five matches they've played thus far. Vecchio have 11 goals to Woodstock's 10.

"We're not out to win style points, we're out to win football games," Wilson said. "Our team has to make sure we play our brand of football and bring a second international trophy home to Woodstock." The Wild have had little challenge in the group until the last three matches, including a loss to Pantocrator (1-0) and a hard-fought match against Aanjar, whose hopes of qualifying were officially doused by Woodstock's win.

"The match against Vecchio will be our biggest test of the Champions League thus far," Bostwick said. "We need to be ready to throw it all at them."

SNC: Can I have my players back?
GH: If we make world cup finals, not much chance.
SNC: Well, at worst we'll be 3rd.
GH: Aim high, not low. 1st or 2nd is the aim.

Heartache for Dorpar; Jubilation for Rappor

KAFRA, NEDALIA – The 8th edition of the NSFA Champions League brought cheers to one Nedalian city at the expense of another Nedalian city’s tears. Dorpar AC, led by Krytenia’s $3.4 million striker Ray Lauscano were merely a point away from qualification from the next round, while Rappor FC, led by Lions international midfielder Khalil Jamhurra, made it because of the same reason.

Rappor began the campaign in high fashion, coming back to win an impressive victory way to Jhanna City in Starblaydia. Dorpar, on the other hand, couldn’t have asked for a worst start, losing at home to Krytenian team Caledon Simpson. Tim James, Dorpar’s most prolific player, made the move to Caledon Simpson for around $8 million just before the season started, and it came back to haunt the selling club. James dominated his former club, leaving a massive trial of destruction in his wake.

Heading to Nedalia’s other northern neighbors, Bedistan, Dorpar were looking to avenge their humiliating loss to Caledon Simpson in an away match against Justus Lions. Unfortunately, the only thing they managed to do was come up with a 0-0 draw in what was classified as a perennial borefest by both national medias. Rappor FC, fresh off of their magnificent victory, turned right around and lost 3-0, at home nonetheless, the New Montreal States team NM Patriots. The Rappor fans who were laughing at Dorpar became themselves laughingstocks, and Nedalians everywhere shook their head in disbelief. Their most successful team, humiliated on home soil.

Heading into Matchday Three, and the official halfway mark of the group stages, Dorpar found themselves lacking a victory. They managed to pull themselves together and actually avenge Rappor’s heavy loss with a victory against another New Montreal States team, Sherbrook Est. After a heavily contested 90 minutes, Dorpar scored the winning goal in extra-time, giving them their first victory of the competition and 4 points from 3 games. Rappor were at home as well, but they could only manage a draw against Squonsherlous team Vogsphere United, leaving them in the same predicament as their Nedalia Premier League counterparts.

Matchday Four brought more woes for the Nedalian teams against New Montreal States. Dorpar traveled there to face Sherbrook Est and came away with 0 points after suffering the same fate as their opponents, ending up on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline. Rappor FC did not fare any better, as they came away with a 2-1 away loss to Vogsphere United, putting both teams in a similarly bad situation.

How do you get a team that humiliated you back? You go to their home ground and leave victorious, which was exactly what Dorpar did against Caledon Simpson on Matchday Five. Traveling north to Krytenia, Dorpar came away with a tough 3-2 victory that kept them very much in the mold of things, with 7 points total from 5 games. Rappor FC, however, faced a heavy loss at home against Jhanna City, putting them in last place with a very slim chance of qualification on the final matchday.

With one more Matchday to go, Dorpar were in 3rd place, behind Caledon Simpson on goal difference. They needed to win or draw their final match, and hope that Caledon lost. The latter happened, but the former did not, as Dorpar succumbed to a 2-1 away loss to Justus Lions, knocking them out of the NSFA CL and into the NSFA Cup. Rappor FC, who were in last place, needed to win and hope that Vogsphere could pull a victory against Jhanna City, and that was exactly what happened. With a 2-0 victory over NM Patriots, Nedalia’s most illustrious team managed to sneak into the 2nd round at the expense of their Starblaydi rivals.

Karelans only draw against Porcupines

The Karela Lines Karelans only managed a draw against the team, which is pretty unpronounceable. The Karelans played a rather jesejilan match, which means, attacking for a team, which lives for Karela. They played an attacking 5-3-2 and both striker played. The Porcupines attacked fiercely and the weakened defense conceded in the 60th minute. Sara Westinghouse, who despite the rejistani first name has no connection to Rejis'tan was the scorer. The bedistani fans chanted "lehiju'ny" full of schadenfreude. But the Yellows did what they could best: counter-attack. In the 85th minute, the counter attack was successfull and Kansu Kan~su was able to equalize the score. The Karelans advance as first team of the group, even before Sunnyslope.

Vogsphere to play more Starblaydians

An Ro16 matchup with Corinthian Spirits should provide two well fought matches
Vogsphere United will hope for results similar to those they enjoyed against Jhanna City, also of Starblaydia, over whom they won by a score of 3-2 in both their group phase matches. While Corinthian spirits are obviously a better side, as they have advanced while Jhanna City find themselves playing for the NSFA cup, the Imperials should be able to get a favorable result against them. Corinthian Spirits finished second in Group 3 with a record of 3-1-2, 10 goals for and 7 goals against, while Vogsphere United topped group 2 with a 4-2-0 record, 16 goals for and 11 goals against. On paper, and on the field, this matchup seems to favor Vogsphere, and we will look for them to advance, probably with an aggregate of +2.

"No idea who it is?"

"I have a name and a nationality..."

"What is that?"

"Nation where the team comes from"

"I mean 'what team and what nation'?"

"Hypocrium city in Hypocria"

"Hypocrits?"

"Most likely!"

"You know anything else? I mean, I am writing an article and have NOTHING!"

"Lemme check the wikipedia.ns... Autocratic shithole, err state... 'It is illegal to make racist remarks in public, convicted felons are forced into slavery for their crimes, the government snoops on private internet connections, and the government has started a campaign to crack down on road rage and encourage alternate means of commuting.' Only some Civil rights. Also they are from Atlantian Oceania, which per definition makes them a waste of perfectly usable space!"

"KANSU!"

"Meh... You know that it is true!"

"We're in an RP here!"

"Meh! Okay, scrap that then!"

"Do you find anything about their team?"

"it is the best one from their country, apparently!"

"Nothing more?"

"Nothing! Just invent something!"

In System Karela, after losing a match against such an opponent the team would be tortured, but here we are in the civilized country of Rejistania. People are called lehiju'ny or similar, the temple makes sure that winning is important if drawing doesn't ensure to advance, but they will not torture... at least not officially. No one however could explain the reason why the players felt really unwell after the consultation in the temple. Of course everone told each other horrorstories when they saw the faces of the players. but how could the players explain what have happened: that the statue of Taderekansa suddenly started speaking and said: "Hey, you lost against a non-RPer! Win (she said "'dary") the next match!

Attacking Karelans?

The Lines played rather attackingly today to defeat the Hypocritic Team Hypocrium City 3:1. Maybe it was the lack of va'karela'ny, or something bad in their food, which made the team play in an relatively attacking frenzy (it would be considered a normal match by people who somehow never heard or saw anything of the trademark System Karela), which was seldomly seen by Karelan fans. The Lines did concede one goal, but Itikemelara Hikijenesele equalized just 2 minutes later. In the 40th minute, the seleken again was able to take the lead, capitalising a fatal error in the Hypocrium defense. After the restart of the match the karelans continued playing the unusual style, at least until Itikemelara Hikijenesele in the 58th minute of the match was able to make the first Hattrick in his career in this match. After this scoreline, the Karelans played their trademark system and defended the victory over the time. Karela lines wins 3:2 on aggregate.

Seta~o I Sinik: Taderekansa said we should play less defensive for one match.
Ka~nsu Kansu: But still, eating takilan brownies is nothing I'll do!
Itikemelara Hikijenesele: I'll eat them if I get a position as starter in this match.
Ka~nsu Kansu: Go ahead! Eat that... dirt! I won't!

Sunnyslope moves on to the quarter-finals of NSCL

With a hattrick by Geoffrey Serna in the first leg against Oliver City, Slope managed to hold through and draw the Oliverrian squad to go to the quarter-finals of the NSCL in their second attempt in the NSCL. Corinthian Spirits, hailing from Starblaydia now stand in their way to a semi-final birth and a chance to bring home another prestidgious tournament to Fmjphoenix.

Interestingly enough, the Atlantian Oceania again shows their football dominince, as 7 of the 8 remaining clubs are coming from within the AO. Karela Lines, coming out form Rejistania in FIFA is the only non-AO originating squad to remain. Anything can still happen, so just be ready for fun.

Menecrates Scores First Blood for Spirits
Slope denied at Silverlands, Takil Vs Takil gives 1-0 scoreline

The Spirits have always been known for their attacking football, and this team is no different. In front of 55,000 scarf-waving fans at the Silverlands stadium Starblaydia's one remaining team in the Champions' League took the lead at what is essentially half-time in their two-legged tie with Sunnyslope FC of Fmjphoenix.

Without question, Slope are the best club team in Fmjphoenix, having won the Domestic title in its second season. They faced Liga Starblaydia's defending Champions from Season Seven in one of the match-ups of the round. A tense match ensued with attacking football all over the pitch, marked with courageous attempts at defending and brilliant 'keeping to beat out the brilliant playmaking.

The Spirits team comprised a fair few famous Starblaydi players. Not least of them Menecrates, World Cup 25 Winner and current Captain of both club and country. Also striker Raul Diaz-Arca and midfielders Javi Chavez and Lazaro Rivera. Corinth has never been known for its defenders, however, but somehow they kept out a flowing Slope team.

Somehow, with a flash of the yellow-gold shirt, Menecrates had skinned a Slope midfielder for the ball and sprinted into the penalty area with it - he's deceptively fast, that man. One swipe at the ball with a perfectly-placed boot and the ball had flown in past the keeper. Menecrates at his best and the Spirits with a foothold in the Semi-Finals.

Just the smallest of small chances that the Champions' League trophy could remain in Starblaydia, too, just moving slightly north of its current location in downtown Jhanna.

Spirits Strike First, Nothing Garunteed Yet
Returning to Phonecia will bring a different atmosphere

Despite playing against another firce attacking team, it was defense that prevailed here. Corinthian Spirits, playing in front of 55,000 fans who most of which were clad in yellow/gold of the Spirits, fought off Slope's attacks with a ferocity that showed that they are a championship calibur team. Despite frequent attacks and attempts from Slopes front three, but Starblaydi goalkeeper Fernando De Marco would not allow a ball past, as he deflected and saves shot after shot, gaining an impressive clean sheet against the best club squad in Fmjphoenix.

But when the teams head to Phonecia to go to Slope Stadium, things will be vastly different. Despite the stadiums 48,000 seats not being sold out yet, it is expected to be sold out well before the match takes place. So here we go, two championship teams will put it all out to earn the right for the NSCL Championship.

From the Karela kalesa sija'jet

How? How!

Our reporter was unable to deliver the report of this match because he, on the way back, had trouble crossing a street. We have hear that Karela Lines defeated Mercia Bromham, but we have no idea how they could have done so 3:0. According to our reporter, who is currently in the hospital in Desnike kalesa, KaMaRi kali said the Karelans played as defensive as ever before he passed out again. Since we were unable to watch the game since the TV in our redaction blew up (it was an imported PoS thingy). Since you are not expecting the truth from us anyways, we can speculate how the 3:0 happened:
* hallucination spells
* 3 Counter-attacks in one match (this however is seen very unlikely seeing that Karela Lines would have stopped counter-attacking after being up 1:0)
* va'takil'ny
* The Random Number Gods, Excelites believe in have decided that in the Big Spreadsheet, a 3:0 appeared
* The weather was so bad, that the ball flew past the goalie by just the wind, maybe supported by Karelan magic
* Ka~nsu Kansu was tired of hearing Itikemelara Hikijenesele about his hat trick.

More about the topic as we make it up.

Not quite a loss

The Yellows did concede. There was no way to say it diplomatically. Kanavan'he, who retired internationally, could not parry the penalty kick after a foul of Kitanu Nana, shot by Mercia's Adrian Belmore. The player, who insists on not being the Belmorian star-striker Alan Belmore, shot the ball into the upper right corner of the goal. Kanavan'he unfortunately mispredicted the direction and the ball went in. The karelan fans boooed and shouted selected expletives at the Krytenian team. The rest of the matchdid see a slightly attacking Karela Lines (KaLi) team. While other teams would have attacked as if' tomorrow would never come', the Karelans knew they were save as long as the scoreline remained on that level. This fact made them play typical "Jisu jet'ta" (never lose highly) soccer and Bromham attack like a takilan team. When the final whistle blew after 2 minutes of overtime, The Karelans celebrated, not the loss but the "kanvali'het", the fact that they qualified. Kitanu Nana unfortunately is suspended after the decisive foul.

Han'il, Loons'he'ja

The Yellow Army of Karela defeated Justus Loons in an epic battle of Karelaness. Loons and KaLi were not too willing to attack and if they did, the respective other team counterred mercilessly. "Kansu the Great" nearly managed to increase the score in the 34th minute in one of these counters but the shot went wide. The first half ended 0:0 with a nearly equal split in possession. The second half nearly started in a shock as the Loons stormed forward as soon as the second half started. Our goalie and former national-player Kanavan'he was able to parry. In the 77th minute, a counter of the Yellow Army of Karela was started again, this time, "Kansu the Great" was able to score from it. 1:0 was the final scoreline. We will hope to play 0:0 in the away game. (Yes, I smoked weed before writing this article,so? Everyone else is still celebrating)

Vi! Vi! Vi-na-li!

The Yellows reached the final of the champions league after a very defensive match in Bedistan against Justus Loons. The Karelans arrived with many supporters while the support of the Loons was remarkably low. It is common that rejistanian fans comment lacking support of the other team with chants like "Jilih myju, xen'disde!" (We decide this is a homegame), but to hear them at a semifinal of the Champions League was slightly strange. The Loons attacked as if there was no tomorrow and if they wouldn't score at least 2 goals, there would be none. The Karelans were far more relaxed, but did not take the game lightly. The Karelans for most of the time played the kind of destructive sekhika, which doesn't allow the opponent to get into the game. In the 88th minute, they however out of the blue started an attack. Defender Takanu Ha~e scored for the "Yellow Army of Karela".

In other news, no one should try to get into karela kalesa: people are celebrating as if it was the last day on earth.

Takil Versus Karela in Champions' League Final

Starblaydia versus Rejistania. Attack versus Defence. Sound familiar? This mini-repeat of the World Cup 25 Final sees Starblaydi Champions Corinthian Spirits versus Karela Lines, Champions of Rejistania.

It's a mouth-watering prospect, perhaps even more so than the previous Champions' League final of Iskara Daii and the Yeaddin Owls. The Corinthian Spirits won Liga Starblaydia on the very last day of last season, Season Seven, while Karela Lines are the most famous team ever to come from Rejistania - even their club has become a by-word for their style of football. You play true defensive football? Then you play Karela.

The Spirits, on the other hand, often have defensive problems. Despite a seemingly never-ending sucession of great goalkeepers, the Spirits have always tossed aside defensive responsibilities in favour of attack. When your club captain midfielder also leads his country out in white-and-purple, and holds the mantle of one of the greatest attacking talents in the world today, there's not much you can really do but go forward.

So, this Final will be a match of opposite footballing ideologies. Do you put eight or more men at the back and wait for a single counter attack and hang on for the win, or do you throw people forward in an attempt to score as many goals as you can with free-flowing, skillful, breath-taking football? This Final should be the decider. Not once and for all, of course, but just for the next month or so.

This final wouldn't have happened, however, without the most incredible comeback in Spirits' history. One-nil down after the first leg in Vilita, Strike FC came back to Silverlands to seal the deal and progress to the Final to make it four Vilitan appearances in a row. They looked like they were going to do it, too, as they scored in the 14th minute to momentarily silence the 55,000-strong Silverlands crowd as the team from Corinth now needed three goals. And guess what happened?

Within seconds, Menecrates was doing the perfect job of Captain and bringing his team up from the floor. He took the ball from the kick-off and surged through from his own half into the Strike midfield and blazed a fierce shot against the bar. Immediately the crowd was on its feet and urging their team to get back into the match. Again and again the Spirits came forward, pounding the Strike team with attack after attack. Their back door, however, was seemingly always open and a succession of Strike counter-attacks and pressure kept the fan's nerves on their toes.

Sufficed to say, of course, Menecrates gave Corinth's favourite sons a place in the final with an 89th-minute third goal, nearly breaking the back of the net from over thirty yards out.

Editorial: remember the times

In one of the first installments of the champions league, there was an at this time amateur team which happened to win the league despite their only attempt was 'not to be relegated and not to get trashed'. This 'not get trashed' was a normal reaction of the concept of simu and it formed the style from the beginning of the H1SR-time on. This team as Karela Lines. If someone would have expected that Karela Lines would provide the name for an ideology, that the team would become one of the most successfull teams and be named with teams like Hades Lavamje, Sen-La-Sa~o Relekhati and the mighty Hanin Sekhika - this someone would be put in a psychiatry. And today? Today the former superpowers Hades Lavamje, Sen-La-Sa~o Relekhati and Hanin Sekhika are struggeling in a H1SR, which utterly reminds of the first version after lots of restructuring, against newcomers like Sikane Sekhika, Na~ovi Nanti, Najajara Ynu and of course Karela Lines. When the Yellows play in the final, we should take a moment to remember their first appearance in the Champions League, where they won no single match and be amazed how this team improved.

In Karela kalesa, order broke down, however the term "Karela kalesa" is here defined a bit losely since Desnike and other kalesa of the city of KaMaRi kali fell in the hands of the party crowd as well. Policemen stopped caring about law and order and celebrated with the Karelans. More news when the situation becomes a bit normal again.
