World Cup 26 Roster Thread

New Manhattan
30-12-2005, 06:07
This thread is for posting rosters (squads, or whatever else you want to call the list of players on your team) for national teams participating in World Cup 26. This is encouraged, even if you don’t RP yourself—other people may want to use your players’ names in their RPs.

In addition to whatever information you wish to provide on your players, you may specify a style of play:
−2: all-out defensive style or “System Karela,” associated with formations like 6–3–1.
−1: moderately defensive style, associated with formations like 5–4–1.
0: neutral style or “System Imdila,” associated with formations like 4–4–2.
+1: moderately attacking style, associated with formations like 3–5–2.
+2: all-out attacking style or “System Takil,” associated with formations like 3–4–3.
The style of play will affect the number of goals your team scores and allows, but there is no “best style”—pick whichever one you like.

Also, you may provide instructions for opponents RPing your matches—if you do not, the answer to all questions is assumed to be “yes”:
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers Y/N
Godmod Scoring Events Y/N
RP injuries to my players Y/N
Godmod injuries to my players Y/N
Hand out Yellow cards to my players Y/N
Hand out Red cards to my players Y/N
Godmod Other Events Y/N

The Kazoo Peoples
30-12-2005, 19:59
The roster of the Kazoo Peoples
# Name (Age, Team)
Goalkeepers
1 Jim Johnson (19, Untitled U-Boats)
::One of the four Johnson brothers on the national squad.
2 Robert Barker (18, Untitled Understudies)
::Spends his off-time as a local game show host.
3 Ham Mertime (23, Kazoo City Kazoos)
::Washed-Up Rapper/Singer/Songwriter, now a star soccer player.
Defenders
4 Dirk Smirkley (17, Monte Carlico Matadors)
::Model turned soccer player, his dazzling smile can distract opponents.
5 Scovest (21, Untitled U-Boats)
:: Known only by his first name, his recent cologne commercials (Hott Scovest) made him an instant celebrity
6 Aaron Slazeb (30, Kazoo City Kazoos)
:: One of the older members of the team, but his experience helps guide the team, even though he won't play too often.
7 Jack Johnson (23, Untitled U-Boats)
:: The second of the four Johnson brothers on the national team.
8 Mozzarella Munster (32, Kazoo City Kazoos)
:: His fiber-filled diet and exercise keep him regular. A regular player, that is.
9 Cha Cha Cha (27, Untitled Understudies)
:: In the off-season, he spends his time as a dance instructor.
10 Man I. Anka (25, Untitled Understudies)
:: Hopes to become a defensive great.
Midfielders
11 Kevlar Shafur (19, Untitled U-Boats)
:: Can stop a bullet pass from one of his teammates.
12 Bob Untitled (18, Untitled Understudies)
:: Aspires to be great midfielder when he reaches his prime.
13 Mark Perknowleski (29, Monte Carlico Matadors)
:: The longest last name on the field.
14 Manni Aka, Jr. (6, Kazoo City Kazoos)
:: No folks, that age is not a typo. Sport Minister and Coach of the national soccer team, Manni Aka, convinced local officials to take his son to the Baptism of fire and the World Cup. Though a regular in the usually-abysmal Kazoo City Kazoos back home, his father has benched him so that he won't get injured.
15 Mike Sweeny (42, Monte Carlico Matadors)
:: The oldest member on the team. In the offseason, he is a professional baseball player.
16 Rudy Johnson (21, Untitled U-Boats)
:: The third of four Johnson brothers.
17 Melvin Hermville (23, Kazoo City Kazoos)
:: After writing years of sports fiction (best-seller Doby Mick), he brings his knowledge of the game to the field.
Forwards
18 Chadd Johnson (25, Untitled U-Boats)
:: The fourth of the Johnson brothers. Arguably, the best of them all.
19 Jonny Lampshade (18, Untitled Understudies)
:: The only Understudy in the starting lineup
20 Jezze Stingray (29, Kazoo City Kazoos)
:: Having two "z"s in his name makes him cool. Real cool.
21 Fie Calmater (26, Kazoo City Kazoos)
:: Spends offseason as a sewer manager, keeping the streets of Kazoo City clean. This might explain the apparent alienation from the rest of the team.

Starting Lineup
GK Jim Johnson
D Scovest
D Dirk Smirkley
D Jack Johnson
D Mozzarella Munster
MF Kevlar Shafur

MINISTRY TO ANNOUNCE HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS FOR WORLD CUP 26

"However," says one official, "we will wait until the group draw, as usual."

NEW MONTREAL - About all we know right now is that William Branstone of Audioslavia will remain as head coach of the Paladins after a surprise qualification in WC25, and that the formation will stay at 2-6-2. (OOC: That would be +1)

We now know some more, namely the list of teams we'll be fielding against our Group 7 opponents. Here they are:

[3] Starblaydia vs. Frog's Academy. Home leg at the Paladin Dome, New Montreal. Perennial powerhouse has yet to disappoint, claiming top spot three World Cups running. Whether or not they'll have any better luck wearing blue and silver remains to be seem.
[49] The Lowland Clans vs. Medlerville High. Home leg at Coyote Stadium, Moncton Sands, Bigtopian Colonies. The first team from the Colonies to represent the States in the World Cup will be an occasion for nationalist protests.
[92] The Macabees vs. Patriarch's Academy. Home leg at the Paladin Dome, New Montreal. Official high school of the NMS Orthodox Church will pray for God to act as the 12th man.
[145] Southern Universe vs. Acadie Heights. Home leg at Stade Guillaume Bédard, Acadie. Highly talented midfielders tailor made for Branstone's system.
[161] Dagabom vs. Ecole Secondaire Pere-Marquette. Home leg at the Paladin Dome, New Montreal. Inner-city school was this year's Cinderella, dealing out upsets to powerhouse prep schools Burgundy Academy and Polyvalente Ville St-George.
[205] Keyshona vs. Secondaire Ave. St-Bernard. Home leg at Stade Ville-Marie, Ville-Marie. After being shut out of World Cups 24 and 25, the Virgin City returns to qualifiers behind Nhan Tien Long, the premier forward in the States.

I Give My Opponent Permission To:

Choose My Scorers
GodMod Any Goalscoring Events
Yellow Card Players
GodMod Other Events for Humourous Intent
====================

Style: +1
As previously, when it paid off big-time, Starblaydia's Style will be +1: vaguely attacking

Notes:
1) Many of these players can be found in The 'Starblaydi Sports' Category (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Category:Starblaydi_Sports) on the wiki. If they're anybody, they're linked to their article in there. Plus you get grammatical lessons in this note too, this time, so good for you, hope you learned something!

2) The best starting eleven are, thankfully, numbered 1-11 and are in bold

3) I have two Dwarves, two Girls, an Alan Belmore clone and a 'keeper who likes to be a little 'eccentric'. There's your easy RPing material.

4) I actively encourage, nay nearly demand, that if you RP first you pick my scorers (if any).

Starblaydi World Cup 26 Squad
Champions Ready to Defend World Cup 25 Title

The Staff
KA. Khim Azanulbizarn (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Khim_Azanulbizarn), Manager, 50
58 Caps, 6 Goals (10 Caps, 4 Goals at Under-21 Level (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Starblaydia_Under-21s))
Probably the most-famous football-playing Dwarf in the world, Khim's long reign as Under-21 Manager has now seen him upgrade to the senior side in the wake of Nikola Lazerevski's iron-clad desire to retire after World Cup 25, come hell, high water or even a World Cup Championship. Guess which one happened.

The Goalkeepers
1. Corominas (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Corominas), GK, 35 - Riandu Anum (Rejistania 1st Division) - World Cup Winner
19 Caps, 1 Goal (15 Caps, 2 Goals at Under-21 Level)
The only Starblaydi 'keeper to ever have scored at either U21 or senior level, "Crazy Coro" has finally been given what he has wanted all his career. The place between the posts for his country. Whether he'll stay there much during the matches is a subject of many a gambling institution betting slip.
12. Ahab Maestas (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Ahab_Maestas), GK, 30 - Hallad Reavers
10 Caps, 0 Goals (5 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Y'arr. No really, enough with the Captain Ahab jokes. Seriously, this guy is a good keeper. Captain of the Reavers as they rise back to the top in Starblaydia, Ahab should be the man to come to the fore after this Cup.
19. David Bedford, GK, 22 - Vecchio Victors
Uncapped (Uncapped at Under-21 Level - Thanks to no U21WCs recently)
Young but highly talented, Lil' Dave is thin as a rake but leaps and scrambles like no man you've ever seen. If you're a striker, then he's got your number.

The Defenders
2. Danzir Garahildim (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Danzir_Garahildim), R/CB, 30 - Tabeck FC - World Cup Winner
43 Caps, 2 Goals (18 Caps, 3 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Though under a public storm that he choked during the World Cup 25 Final, Garahildim is nevertheless Starblaydia's most solid Right-Back. Besides, how could a Dwarven Manager leave out a World Cup-Winning Dwarf?
3. Leopoldo Lopez (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Leopoldo_Lopez), L/CB, 33 - Iskara Daii - World Cup Winner
44 Caps, 3 Goals (9 Caps, 1 Goal at Under-21 Level)
He's won the World Cup, the NS Champion's League, the Under-21 World Cup and Liga Starblaydia. 'Too old' at 33? Yeah right. Still full of energy, drive an commitment, Leo wants another Cup for is incredible collection.
5. Jaime Oberlander (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Jaime_Oberlander), L/CB, 26 - Hallad Reavers - World Cup Winner
21 Caps, 1 Goal (9 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
With 16 appearances throughout World Cup 25, this 'substitute' was an essential part of the team, now upgraded to exactly where he belongs: The heart of Starblaydia's defence.
6. Heider Stefansson, CB, 28 - Internashionale
13 Caps, 0 Goals (12 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Son of the legend that is Stefan Haldorsson. He's big and strong and blond but this kid plays to keep the goals out, rather than knock them in. He's done well in AOCAF sides but this is the biggest test for any footballer.
13. Ulysses Zielinski (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Ulysses_Zielinski), R/LB, 29 - Hallad Reavers - World Cup Winner
11 Caps, 0 Goals (10 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
So useful in two different positions, but as the saying goes 'jack of all trades, master of none'. Outshone by Lopez and Garahildim in both positions, Ulysses' journey continues, but once again with the #13 shirt.
14. Dane Jaeger, SW/CB, 30 - Penningworth United
13 Caps, 0 Goals (10 Caps, 2 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Putting his body on the line every time hegoes out on the field, Dane could well be some kind of aggressive Rejistanian the way he plays. Every goal his team conceeds is like a personal affront to him.
20. Alberto Belmozzi, CB/CF, 20 - Gateway Bay (Kaze Progressa)
Uncapped (Uncapped at Under-21 Level - Thanks to no U21WCs recently)
Leaked DNA results show that he is, indeed, related to that old Alan Belmore guy. He can tell you if defenders are born or bred: being born a Belmore clone should make him a great striker, but breeding has turned the knowledge of where a striker should be into where a great defender should position himself.

The Midfielders
4. Virgil Ernesto, DM, 27 - Hecia - World Cup Winner
18 Caps, 0 Goals (14 Caps, 0 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Formerly a backup to the great Alejo Cuevo, Ernesto is ready to come out from his shadow and grab the Starblaydi midfield by the throat to get it going. Though tactical fouls are his speciality, crunching tackles to silence opposing players are not far behind.
7. Cherry Garcia (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Cherry_Garcia), RW, 26 - Jhanna City - World Cup Winner
37 Caps, 9 Goals (13 Caps, 3 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Starblaydia's first and perhaps always will be the greatest female player. As a right-winger she is almost peerless, with pace, tricks, skill and the deadliest of right-footed crosses ever to leave a football boot.
8. Menecrates (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Menecrates), Captain, A/R/L/C/M, 28 - Corinthian Spirits - World Cup Winner
37 Caps, 12 Goals (16 Caps, 6 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Surely one of the greatest players in the world today, if not the greatest. Almost single-handedly dragging Starblaydia from 1-0 down to 2-1 up in the World Cup 25 Final, scoring a goal along the way, Menecrates is as gifted a player as any nation has ever produced.
11. Reynaldo, L/CM, 28 - Laf'goh'lith K'druz'ba (Cockbill Street) - World Cup Winner
12 Caps, 5 Goals (16 Caps, 3 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Though only a young back-up throughout World Cup 25, Reynaldo's left-sided stylings are successful enough to win him the full-on position in this team.
15. Georges Blanc, CM, 24 - Floral FC (Bedistan)
6 Caps, 0 Goals (4 Caps, 1 Goal at Under-21 Level)
Though his name feels like it's been around forever, with reports coming out of Bedistan for what seems like years and years, Blanc is still only 24. Surely he'll break into the Starblaydi national consciousness in this tournament, so close to home as it is.
16. Paul Noble, R/CM, 19 - Vecchio Victors
Uncapped (Uncapped at Under-21 Level - Thanks to no U21WCs recently)
Youngest of the humans taken by Azanulbizarn in his squad, Paul's all-round talent assures him a place, even as a 19 year-old. Wide or central, good crosses and a great worth ethic are sprinkled lavishly with bundles of talent to make Noble one for the future.
21. Javi Chavez, LM, 21 - Corinthian Spirits
Uncapped (Uncapped at Under-21 Level - Thanks to no U21WCs recently)
When you earn your stripes as a youngster who can start in the Spirits first team, that means you're one hell of a good player. With Azanulbizarn's experience of playing this guy in the Under-21s, Chavez knows his international future is in good hands.
22. Durum Rage, AM, 17 - Karak Ungor Chiefs
Uncapped (Uncapped at Under-21 Level Thanks to no U21WCs recently)
The first Dwarf to come through since Garahildim, this young'un plays for the only all-Dwarf team in Liga Starblaydia and can ghost into the box like nobody's business, hitting a sledgehammer of a shot and occasionally even a header or two. Youthful and fiery, but how else would the Clan Rage be described?

The Forwards
9. Raphaelo (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Raphaelo), SC, 26 - Iskara Daii - World Cup Winner
30 Caps, 6 Goals (11 Caps, 3 Goals at Under-21 Level)
Its a funny thing, football. You can be your nation's number-one striker of the time, play for one of the best teams in the league and still not be considered as good as your predecessors. Of course, Simeone Di Bradini he ain't, but then again who is? Take Raph on his merits and you'll soon see that he's worth his weight in World Cup-winning gold.
10. Giovanni Lopez (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Giovanni_Lopez), RW/SC, 31 - Internashionale - World Cup Winner
37 Caps, 11 Goals (15 Caps, 13 Goals at Under-21 Level)
He's the man that scored the goal that won Starblaydia the World Cup in Extra Time. Plus he's a versatile and clever footballer who's an asset to any team he plays for. Still as deadly-accurate as ever, Giovanni is loving life and hoping to achieve just as high as he did four years ago.
17. Thomas Nixon, SC, 22 - Talbott (Liverpool England)
1 Cap, 2 Goals (Uncapped at Under-21 Level - Thanks to no U21WCs recently)
Maybe they're short in Liverpool England, but this guy, 'Tricksy Nixey' managed to be top-scored of the FALE's best league at the age of around 15. He also managed to score two goals when coming on as a substitute in his first - and currently only - AOCAF match, perhaps the best debut ever. Somehow 22 seems too old for him to make his World Cup debut

OOC - Are my players now 4 years older, or does that matter.

OOC: It's up to you. I add 4 years to each player at every new Cup. For realism. Also, that way they retire when they get too old. Except if they're called Ranjit Khan, who was still running around playing football at the age of 46. ;)

The Aeropag Tribune—The World Cup can’t possibly be here! We want a recount!

World Cup: SLANI announces players, uniforms for World Cup 26 campaign
PRONTERA, CH—After a dismal performance in World Cup 25, ending with elimination from the seventeenth Cup of Harmony, the Capitalizts will be back in the World Cup picture, auto-qualifying as a host nation. Many familiar faces will be returning for the centennial World Cup, such as Σιημητράς Φάνης (Siemetrás Phánes), an outstanding striker over the past two Cups. Though the center of the team’s offense had to be replaced due to the retirement of 채기소 (Chae Gi-so) and Friedel Oheim, some controversy has resulted over the replacement of left forward Major Levin, who was given a starting position in the Cup of Harmony after the retirement of Capitalizt legend Λεμονής Τριανταφυλλίδης (Lemonés Triantaphullídes), with the unproven Brad Marx, striker for the Sonoma Center Panthers. “Levin did a great job under pressure in the Cup of Harmony—no one’s trying to take away from his achievements there. We don’t blame our failure in that tournament on him, or anyone else—we just think Marx will be a better striker for us in the future.” Perhaps the most surprising part of the new roster is what hasn’t changed—Paul Iñaki will remain at the helm through World Cups 26 and 27, despite reports that he would almost certainly be fired after becoming the only Capitalizt coach not to qualify for the Cup.
Another unusual decision by Capitalizt SLANI was the choice of uniforms—rather than keep the World Cup 25 design or create new uniforms, SLANI’s CEO Brad Liang chose a different path. “Ever since our third match, the start of World Cup 16 qualifying, people have been disappointed with the performance of the Capitalizts,” he said in a press release. “So, for World Cup 26, we’re going with the uniforms from our second match—the World Cup 15 final.”
The complete roster and pictures of the new home and away colors can be found on page 1B.

Formation: 3-5-2 - Style +1

Strikers
10 – Iason Spyridon, Kolossi Fields* C
One of the most experienced players, on the team, Iason has played in all of the last two World Cups, and is regarded as one of the best forwards in the Clans with his natural speed and finesse on the ball. Expected to retire after the completion of either the World Cup or the Cup of Harmony
08 - Nicolae Foma, Belgrad West*
An up and coming kid from the Serbian capital Belgrade, he was picked up by the local premiership club in their youth program. Boy, did they get more than they bargained for. Nicolae's sheer physical presence and power, as weel as sizable skill on the ball, means that he is a very dangerous man for those who are not careful.
44 - Aonghus Jonathan Darrel, Heartland Central
The leading striker for Heartland, he championed their run to the premiership after a nearly life-ending car accident in London during New Years. A strong striker whose eye of the field keeps defenders guessing how he made it past them.
29 - Ryley Bloudin, Castle of Lisbon
A native Portugese striker, only age 19, is one of the most heralded young stars in the Allied States. His skill on the ball and the power of his foot are nearly unmatched. A little hotheaded though, it stands out that he might not get much playing time, and pundits will be looking to see how he handles it.

Presents
The 1497 Casaran World Cup Team

4 years passed like nothing and it's once again time for Casari to nominate a team for that long, winding road which is World Cup Qualifying. After the insane up-and-down run which was only stopped by eventual World Cup winners Starblaydia, fans have high hopes for the third incarnation.

Returning for her 2nd full competition as both Coach and General Manager is the former leading striker for West Baronies Soccer Club, Vivica Hill, and with her, the neutral 0 3-1-2-1-3 formation.

The Revolution Square Video Screen showed the crowded press room, the usual podium and table sitting at the front, with the crowd visible out the windows which covered the east wall.

Suddenly, with dozens of questions shouted from the press and a loud roar coming up from the square, the President of the Casaran Soccer Authority Wilson Graham and Coach Hill calmly walked to the head of the room, setting down folders and papers. Graham sorted through his papers for a minute before moving to the podium and raising his hands to silence the crowd.

"Before we get to announcing the players, we'd like to open the floor to any questions the press may have."

Alfonz Jenkins of the Ashford Reporter raised a hand, standing. "Mr. Graham, we've heard several mentions of moving some home games across town to Four Towers Stadium seeing that pitch issues here at Casaran National have yet to be resolved. Will any games be moved, either there or to Tyrellia Hill?"

Graham nodded. "A good question. As has been widely reported, attempts to improve the drainage at Casaran National has met with some problems. But as of now, we feel that conditions have improved greatly and all home games will take place at Casaran National Stadium as they have in the past."

Graham had just managed to finish when Wesley Randolf og the National Observer stood up in his place. "Can we expect any changes to the kit design this year?"

"No. We intend to continue using the first (http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b20/Casari/Kit1.png), second (http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b20/Casari/kit2.png), and third (http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b20/Casari/kit3.png) kits we have used in the previous World Cup Campaign. Now, if that is all, I believe we'll be handing it off to General Manager and Coach Hill to announce the players."

Wilson Graham stepped asids and sat down, looking over a sheet as Vivica Hill stepped up to the podium. The cheers redoubled out in the square as she nodded out of the window, acknowledging the punters gathered outside. "I'm rather excited about the team this year. In the Coaching Department, former International Foreward Greg Ruhlman is stepping up to join me as assistant coach. Other than that, the other major coaching positions are remaining the same. Now, to the players." She said, clearing her throat. "Once again, the team consists of a strong core of players with lots of international experience. With that, we hope to have an extremely strong showing."

"The core of our team will be the returning offense. Andy Ronalo, Mike Newberry, and Ari Saienz are all returning for the 1497 campaign." Cheers erupted from outside as reporters rapidly scribbled the information down. "Supplimenting them this year will be the lone striker who lead Shelby to a very Karelan championship this year, Edmond Roe. Red Ryerbach and the promising young international out in Fedala, Jared Livingston, will round out the offense."

"The Midfield has a quartet of returnees. Robbie Archer, Alberto Larini, John Granger, and Piero Capelli are all returning. James Salvitore will follow his conversion to the midfield on the national team. Newcomer Reginold Edson will complete the Midfield."

"The Defense will be lead by the promising young pickup from last World Cup, Javis LeMurry. Eddie Oliver is coming back as well, as will Jay Letra and Brian Nelson. The newcomers in our defense are Oscar Swanson and Will Samson."

"Lastly, Salvidore Rooney will be reprising his stellar work in goal. Returning after missing a World Cup to join him will be Scott William."

Smiling, Hill nodded. "Press kits are available at the exits with career and personal information on our players. That you for attending, and we hope not to dissappoint in 1497."

HOLY EMPIRE WC26 SQUAD

Due to the ongoing severe restrictions on contact between the Holy Empire and ordinary physical reality, the WC26 squad consists of a single real human goalkeeper and 10 dreamed simulacra of World Cup Hall of Fame legend Juan Tzimisces. The latter are temporarily dreamed into existence for the duration of the match by a group of monks on loan from the Archregimancy (see pre-WC26 RP thread). The same system was successfully trialled in the recent Cup of Harmony. The team are using new Imperial technology that permits for the temporary and highly localised extension of the Dreamed Realm into ordinary physical reality for the duration of a football match.

As in World Cup 25 qualifying, all home qualifiers for the Imperials will in fact be played in the Archregimancy, not in the Holy Empire.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following.... You not only have my permission, you are in fact encouraged to do whatever you want to with this team. I'll be concentrating my RP efforts on the Archregimancy [just as soon as I can post on the forums as them again], so I hope you'll take this opportunity to be as creative as you want to when RP'ing your matches with the venerable WC 2 hosts Alasdair I Frosticus - except that it's obviously impossible to injure players who are technically figments of someone's imagination, and acts of violence/terrorism will be equally impossible during matches taking place in the Dreamed Realm. Otherwise, have fun!

The Giant Zucchini Zucchinis

Note: Roster is susceptible to change throughout qualifying

Coach: James Gorton – 65
After what was generally regarded as a disappointing World Cup 25, Gorton has taken huge risks with his team selection in this campaign, going for a 3-1-4-2 formation. Among the notable absentees are strikers Carl Hohenzollern, who won the Golden Boot in the Premiership last season, and Benno Rimsky-Korsakov, who has scored the most international goals for Giant Zucchini in the last campaign. Coming in are a new bunch of young players, some even from the amateur leagues, trying to prove their worth for their country. Doubts remain as to the effectiveness of his new strategy, and the general feeling is that if this campaign was as disappointing as the last one, it could be Gorton’s last.

Starting 11

GK: Bobby Laredo (Anglo FC) – 28 – 20 caps/23 conceded/7 clean sheets
After Groot's failure to prove himself during qualifying, Laredo is back in goal after a string of fantastic showings for the Zucchinis.

LB: Carlos Corretja (Iberia CF) – 24 – 22 caps/1 goal
Corretja has grown into one of the key defenders in the Zucchini lineup, his strength and crunching tackle a few of the reasons for this. He also possesses good stamina as well as an accurate pass.

CB: Boudewijn Brugghen (FC van Frankenland) – 33
Yet another player from the semi-pro leagues, at least Brugghen was involved in the Promotion/Relegation playoff with Nordic IF. However, his performance in that match was widely regarded as average, so naturally the public is skeptical over his inclusion in the national team, much less the starting lineup. Nevertheless, despite his lack of pace and stamina, he more than makes up for it with his strength and height, as well as a strong tackle.

RB: Ramón Gimeno (Iberia CF) – 21
One of the fastest rising talents in Giant Zucchini, Gimeno has grown into a ferocious wingback; quick, with a good pass, and a tenacious tackle. His heading ability means he could pop up with a few goals here and there as well. Quite simply the best at what he does, and his potential to grow is frightening. A true star in the making.

CDM: Absamat Chekhov (FC Spartak Vostochno) – 21
A cultured central defensive midfielder, Chekhov has the stamina to last the pace and the control to dictate it, as well as the passing ability to initiate attacking openings. However his lack of strength may be used against him.

LM: Mikhail Glinka (FC Spartak Vostochno) – 31 – 22 caps/1 goal - Captain
An all rounded winger, Glinka has the passing ability to pick players out in the box, as well as the dribbling ability and pace to leave defenders in his dust, and the stamina to do it up to the final second of extra time. However, his shooting is barely average, and physically he is easily overpowered by strong opposition. Nevertheless, his experience will serve him well as he takes over the captaincy from Domingo Ferrero.

CM: Arturo Bardi (AC Romanic) – 20
Gorton sees Bardi as the natural complement to Boyer; while Boyer is tall and imposing, Bardi is short and nippy. In this respect, this makes Bardi more suited to attacking play, and his ability shows that. Other than owning a sweet strike of the ball, Bardi’s best talents are in creating chances, his vision and creative range of passing showing great promise to the Zucchinis’ attacking chances.

CM: Armand Boyer (Gallo FC) – 25 – 18 caps
One of the brightest prospects of the generation, Boyer has nary a weak link in his game, possibly only his heading and his pace slightly lacking. Other than that, he has amazing fitness and strength for a young lad, and a confident tackle. He also has above average shooting, passing, and decent control of the ball. Look for him to take NationStates by storm even more in the near future as he nears his peak.

RM: Gottlieb Poulsen (Anglo FC) – 25 – 17 caps
Poulsen is a wizard with the ball at his feet. His feet are capable of stuff that many only dream of in their sleep. In addition, he has also increased his range of passing, and is the key creative force behind the new Anglo FC. He also has a decent burst of speed. However, his shooting leaves much to be desired, and he has admitted to barely heading the ball in his footballing history. Also, despite his silky skills, he can be pushed off the ball rather easily. In addition, he has yet to prove himself on the big stage.

CF: Johann Rilke (Deutsch SV) – 21 – 17 caps/2 goals
Rilke has grown into the new star of the Zucchini attack. A blisteringly accurate strike coupled with lightning pace and a punishing head on the ball, Rilke has also developed his weaker areas of strength and control up to a competitive level. However, the pressure is on him to surpass the scoring form of his predecessors on the pitch, and quickly.

CF: Dino Nuvolari (AC Romanic) – 26
The ‘little’ in the ‘large-and-little’ strike partnership implemented by Gorton this campaign. Quick goal-poacher with good shooting and heading. However, his first touch may let him down.

Bench

GK: Hendrik Groot (FC van Frankenland) – 20
Technically speaking, Groot is undeniably the best goalkeeping talent Giant Zucchini has produced in the modern era so far. His handling is assured, his positioning has yet to be faulted this season, and his decisions to leave his line have been justified. That said, Groot has been untried and untested in higher levels of football, his experience mainly confined to the semi-professional leagues.

RB: René Ulvaeus (Nordic IF) – 20
A strong wingback that can play on either flank, Ulvaeus has a crunching tackle and effective distribution. With a decent strike and a good header, this utility player can even be brought in as a makeshift striker.

RM: Fra di ser Tartini (AC Romanic) – 21
A quick dribbler in the same vein as Poulsen, with his strength over the ball giving him an extra edge. However, he lacks Poulsen’s brilliant range of passing.

CF: Vicente de Silva (Iberia CF) – 20
A talented striker with stamina as well as shooting and heading ability. However he is slightly sluggish and has a poor first touch.

CB: Domingo Ferrero (Iberia CF) – 36 – 22 caps
A quick centre back, ex-captain Ferrero also has a good head and touch of the ball, as well as a decent shot and pass. Also, he has an efficient tackle that wins the ball most of the time, yet rarely concedes any fouls. However, he is rather injury prone and lacking in fitness.

Reserves

GK: Edgardo García (Iberia CF) – 23
Promising up-and-coming goalkeeper. However, his progress in the national side is thwarted by his tendency to parry balls away instead of catching them confidently.

RB: Modest Kaganovich (FC Spartak Vostochno) – 29 – 22 caps/1 goal
Above average right back, with good heading ability despite his lack of height. Also does not shirk in the tackle. However, his lack of strength may be used against him.

RF: Sergey Akayev (FC Spartak Vostochno) – 21
A quick striker with a good touch and decent strength and shooting. However, he is lacking in fitness and some his passes go quite awry.

LB: Andrea Coraria (AC Romanic) – 26
A strong, quick left back with a good pass and tackle. However, he has a poor touch and lacks fitness.

RM: Genrikh Akayev (FC Spartak Vostochno) – 23
The other half of the Akayev brothers. Quick, strong, with brilliant footwork and fine passing. However, he severely lacks fitness.

CM: Chua Peng Long (Sino FC) – 20
A fit, strong central midfielder with a hard tackle and excellent distribution. However, his lack of pace is one of the reasons why he is only on the fringes of this squad.

1. James BARCALI (43, GK, North Pole United (HCN)) @
Caps: 67 Goals: 1
Evergreen as an old pine, Barcali shows no signs of stopping, with a new lease of life in Hockey Canada.

13. Nick PAPADOPOLOUS (24, GK, Bradwell Saints)
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Moves up to understudy as Todd Colfox calls it a day.

22. Virgil STANESCU (26, GK, Patriots Everton)
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Most likely to just be making up the numbers.

DEFENDERS
2. Vernon POLYAKH (31, RB, Patriots Everton) @
Caps: 24 Goals: 0
Polyakh has proved himself worthy, and now takes the number two jersey.

3. Stephen GREENOW (29, LB, Ousevale Borough) @
Caps: 25 Goals: 0
In the Nova Mercia ‘B’ squad at the tender age of 13, Greenow has matured well since his move to Ousevale.

5. Lyle LOVITZ (34, CB, Neathill Town) @ (Capt)
Caps: 51 Goals: 1
DVS’ first Team captain, Lovitz is the biggest rock in the Krytenian defence.

6. Cameron STEVENSON (23, CB, Leston Town) @
Caps: 20 Goals: 1
The teenager has matured, and makes the big money move back into the Overleague after another dismal City season.

15. Luke PINDORIANO (24, CB, Caledon Simpson)
Caps: 2 Goals: 0
Club champion of Atlantian Oceania, but still no place in the first team internationally.

16. Andy HOXTON (23, RB, Notegia Rangers)
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
An exciting young full-back, Polyakh has the potential to be a giant in the position. Potential he has proved at club level only – so far.

20. Zack STARKOV (20, LB, Caledon Simpson)
Caps: 6 Goals: 0
Krytenia’s youngest international at just sixteen, Starkov is maturing fast.

21. Adam VAN WALDHUIS (30, CB, Dereapolis City)
Caps: 5 Goals: 0
A good backup utility man at the back.

MIDFIELDERS
4. Oliver KADER (34, RM/CM, Davisham Town) @
Caps: 30 Goals: 2
Surely a last bow for the formidable midfielder.

7. John TEREZZI (32, CM, Everton City Reds) @
Caps: 24 Goals: 1
An exciting midfielder, his strength, unusually, is heading, and for this reason he’s been likened to Crystilakere’s Filippo Ferraro.

14. Chris BLANNIX (20, CM, Leston Town)
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
One of the architects behing the magnificent success of Leston Town, Blannix is a promising midfielder.

8. Andrew PEDROSO (27, LM, Notegia Rangers) @
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Sprightly winger Pedroso is one of the reasons Field Lane is a scary place to visit…

12. Curtis BAINS (25, LM, Notegia Rangers)
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Son of former Nova Mercian captain Sheridan, and has also taken his place in the Stanton midfield.

19. Simon ZIOV (33, RM, Neathill Town)
Caps: 8 Goals: 2
The former Ousevale player has won many fans at the Q-Soft Stadium.

“THE HOLE”
10. Kevin KEDA (33, AM/CF, Hypocrium City(HYP)) @
Caps: 53 Goals: 14
Deep-set striker who links up well with Gabe Kennedy.

18. Geoff MERCKX (28, AM/CF, Ellisham Wanderers)
Caps: 2 Goals: 1
Of Spruit heritage but born in Diorville, Merckx has emerged as an excellent playmaker at Ellisham, though is yet to repeat this feat on the international stage.

FORWARDS
9. Robin SPIVEY (30, CF, Mercia Bromham) @
Caps: 22 Goals: 13
His fantastic form sees him take Phil Neasden’s coveted No.9 jersey. A real force.

11. Gabriel KENNEDY (26, CF, Stanton Town) @
Caps: 31 Goals: 28
He will play, and he will score. That’s just how good he is.

17. Alex VAROV (27, RM, Caledon Simpson)
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Another Caledon Academy production, Varov made a name for himself as Simpson won the recent AOCL tournament.

23. Jerome JAFFACAKE-PHILLIPS (19, CF, Ellisham Wanderers)
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
The son of journalist and social binge drinker Ffion Phillips and, if the rumours are true, Audioslavian media legend Jeremy Jaffacake, Jerome has put his controversial parentage behind him and emeged as a talented young striker.

Likely Starters:
Barcali
Polyakh - Stevenson - Lovitz - Greenow
Kader - Terezzi - Pedroso
Keda
Spivey - Kennedy

Subs: Papadopolous, Hoxton, Pindoriano, Blannix, Ziov, Merckx, Varov.

Nedalia
01-01-2006, 18:38
The Nedalia Lions

THE GAFFER:

Bilal Hachem:
- Has become only the 2nd manager in Lions history, replacing Randy Gamman. Has promised to continue to focus on Nedalia's ability going forward to win games, but has said it will happen without sabotaging the back four and the defensive duties the team has to get around to doing. Was Gamman's assistant, was thought to be the main tactical mind behind him.

GOALKEEPERS:

Hard Dans (6 caps): Butetown Dragons (Bettia), 26 years old. Solid perfomances in the Apex League, as well as a solid showing in the last AOCAF Cup tournament, has led for him to be favored over Brown. He replaces the best GK to ever come out of Nedalia, the now retired Derrell Lynch.

Jim Brown (8 caps): Rappor GK, 27 years old. Beat out Hard Dans for the priviledge of backing up Lynch. Solid GK, potential candidate to replace Lynch when he retires.

DEFENSE:

Gradd Corona (23 caps/0 goals): Brickell LB, 21 years old. Continues to impress, and continues to make his case for being the best left back to come out of Nedalia. Has incredible pace to match his strength, easily one of the best defenders in the Premier League. Has effective crossing ability.

Ben Turner (15 caps/1 goal): Rappor CD, 20 years old. Right back turned central defender, this young man is given the duty of replacing legend and former Lions captain Cole Zenith. Solid contributor in previous tournaments, his potential is matched only by his defending ability. Many are predicting he could become better even than the man he is replacing.

Mohammed Khadra (49 caps/4 goals): Shoreland United CD, 27 years old. Widely regarded as the best defender in Nedalia, has been slightly inconsistent on the international stage. On his best day, cannot be beat, and the Khadra-Zenith tandem were downright frightful when they were playing together. Many will be watching to see how he will cope with his new partner in the central defence.

Hans Lamm (64 caps/2 goals): Honsfield Athletic RD, 28 years old. The current Premier League Defender of the Year, the most consistent player in Nedalia's back line. The right back from hell, he has it all: speed, strength, tackling ability, as well as attacking ability. Hitting his prime, a frightful sight for oncoming offensive players.

Jorgem Ruff (18 caps/0 goals): Edensanne LD, 27 years old. Solid defender, could not make the left back position his, with the youngster Corona being favored over him.

Stevenson (12 caps/0 goals): Brickell CD, 27 years old. Always reliable, has been on the national team since he was in his teams, but has never shown enough to play consistently. Phenomenal pace coupled with good tackling always makes his a good choice for a substitute in case a defender goes down with injury.

Khalil Khasem (uncapped): Porasse RB, 18 years old. On the national squad simply on potential. The few times he appeared for his club, he showed amazing ability on the ball and his defence was second to none. Still somewhat of a mystery.

MIDFIELD:

Nene (85 caps/32 goals): Inland Peaks (Vilita) LM, 27 years old. The man on a mission; this left winger has come into camp this year completely obsessed with his goal to qualify to World Cup 26. Not one to be denied; truly a phenomenan on the ball, nothing he can't do. Has been Nedalia's best since his teenage years.

Trent Hardman (60 caps/6 goals): Akani Sands (Bettia) DM, 28 years old. The new, and only Nedalia's 2nd, captain, taking the duty after the retirement of Cole Zenith. One of the Apex League's best midfielders, does not believe in complacency. Good going forward, even better when defending. Can score, can pass, and can tackle.

Innit Point (76 caps/10 goals): Internashionale (Starblaydia) AM, 27 years old. One of the Liga Starblaydia's best midfielders, made the move out of Nedalia when he was only 20. Has developed magnificently since, and is beginning to hit the prime of his career. Is set to light the qualification stages on fire.

Constantine (36 caps/5 goals): Shoreland United RM, 23 years old. The current Premier League Player of the Year, as well as Midfielder of the Year, really came into his own this season for his club, leading them to the championship. Has been inconsistent before that, but it looks like he has learnt how to pace himself. Has to be one of the most important players on the team; if he can play well, there is no limit to where the team can go.

Don Downing (47 caps/6 goals): Carlesa LM/RM, 29 years old. The Lions' captain during their AOCAF XI campaign, perhaps the most versatile player on the squad. Consistent and ever reliable, as the ability to do everything well, nothing great. Equally efficient with both feet, is usually the first man off the Lions bench.

Houdini (18 caps/4 goals): Shoreland United DM, 21 years old. Continues to impress, but has to become a consistent deliverer. His flair and flamboyance is unmatched, and has been slowly proving the sceptics who say he is too soft wrong.

Khalil Jamhurra (31 caps/2 goals): Rappor AM, 26 years old. If not for Point, should be starting. Still, plays in nearly every game, and can also fill in as a striker. Former Midfielder of the Year.

FORWARDS:

Tim James (52 caps/30 goals): Caledon Simpson (Krytenia), 24 years old. Led his club to the AO Champions League title, firing goal after goal. Has done the same for the Lions', proving himself irreplaceable. Along with Nene, is the focal point of the Nedalian attack. Incredible pace, incredible dribbling ability, and incredible shooting power.

Conteras (uncapped): Groftanne, 27 years old. Along with Khalil Khasem, the only uncapped player manager Hachem has brought in to the squad. Fully deserving, however, as he is the Premier League Striker of the Year, netting in 28 goals for his club. Replaces Chris Yamtech in the starting line-up, will hope his scoring ability will seal him a permenant place in the lineup.

Mattan (61 caps/18 goals): Butetown Dragons (Bettia), 29 years old. Slightly upset over the fact that he wasnt chosen to replace Yamtech, the badboy of Nedalian football has promised to prove his worth. Will get many opportunities to prove it, as he is the first striker off the Lions bench.

Chris Yamtech (58 caps/13 goals): Shoreland United, 31 years old. Simply not the player he once was, with injuries having taken the toll on his body. Scored 30 goals in the Premier League Year Two, has scored 22 combined in Year Three and Year Four. Still great on his best day, but they have become few and far between.

Hrjove Brando (5 caps/3 goals): Honsfield Athletic, 26 years old. Has consistently been one of the best scorers in Nedalia, and is finally being rewarded for it after his clubs impressive display. Will be looking to assert himself.

Staff

Jude Takerath-21-Manager: Passionate, he can often be seen on the sidelines trying to rally the team. A clever man, he knows how to manipulate the media but lacks the man management skills to rally the team in dark times. Otherwise a recluse, his glasses only add to his scholarly look. When the team isn't playing, he will study, read or play a game of chess.

Igor Dejonvich-51-Assistant Manager: AG good organiser, runs training and logistical side of thing. Sits calmly on the sidelines, in the dressing room, he can inspire.

Gary Seville-44-Head of Scouts: A shady character with the death sentence over him, his job is to ensure security and check on the other teams. Is willing to cheat and lie if need be.

Steve Runner-29-Head Fitness Coach: A keen man, full of energy. A fast runner, his job is too keep the players as fit as possible but can be too eager and has to be reigned in.

Dr Madadden-39-Head Doctor: Runs the medical side of things. Forced into this job, he hates sports but is the top medical man in the nation. His glance from behind his glasses can scare even the bravest of men.

Jade Manalinth-24-Head Cheerleader: Supposed to inspire the crowds, a beautiful red head that is willing to use any technique to see Cuation win so she may gain more fans herself. Jude has a crush on her and she can play on that if promised enough. Known to distract footballers, also vengeful and ruthless

Each mentioned have elite staff to support(example, Igor on the training front has coaches for each position), coerced into the jobs by force if needed.

Squad

Tactics: Mostly a defending side, they will push forward if behind by anything up to two goals in the last twenty minutes. Normally, they lump the ball forward for the lone forward to hold up till players get forward. Willing to use the offside trap and press from front to back

SS

LM CM RM
DM
LB CD CD RB
GK

Starting line up:

Gary Jens-25-GK. Games: 16(0) Goals: 1 Conceded: 17
Tall, tanned, agile, good at narrowing the angle, he has many strengths. He has three flaws however: his fiery temper, crosses and being somewhat inconsistent. This man can make a fantastic save only to let a 30 yarder through his legs. Willing to sweep up behind the defence

Leslie Butcher-18-LB: Games: 19(0) Goals: 1
inexperienced but quick and eager. Likes to attack but his shots tend to be wayward. Does not like having to man mark someone as someone good with the ball can tear him apart and fairly short so lacks ability in the air. Otherwise a promising defender who deserves his chance

Philip Cole-29-RB Games: 19(0) Goals: 1
Solid defender lets little past him. Slow but not enough to be much of a hindrance. Dependable but if something unexpected happens, he gets caught out. His left foot is injury prone.

Sol Major-34-CB and captain Games: 19(0) Goals: 0
Lacks pace and only recently recovered from injury, the man who organises the back line is a vital part of the team. Strong in the air and on the ground, a talker.

Jonathan Yan 26-CB: Games: 19(0) Goals: 1
strong in the air and in the tackle, this man has emerged from troublesome youth to a quality defender. Lacks pace but has threat in the air that will be useful at set pieces.

Abel "Sweeper" Robinson-36-DM: Games: 18(0) Goals: 2
The holding player, quiet on and off the pitch. Will not get forward and his passes tend to be sideways but he sits in front of the defence, attempting to stop anyone from finding space between defence and midfield. Unable to play anywhere else however

This will be his last year. The team will miss him

Heskey Anderton-26-LM: Games: 17(0) Goals: 5
a striker played out of position on the left wing, covering for the lack of left wingers. Tall and strong in the air, he works hard but has the tackling ability of a striker and tends to fall over too much. Fans are on his back

Timothy Ashton-28-RM: Games: 18(0) Goals: 7
A true winger uses power, pace and tricks to get past his man so he can hit a stinging cross in. Loves to attack and has a blistering shot. One of those looking for flick on from target man. Can get isolated and frustrated

Cuation's top scorer in Cup of Harmony with 2.

Roy Ferguson-31-CM: Games: 16(0) Goals: 2
box to box midfielder with a nasty temper. His job is too support the attack or defence, depending on the situation. Fair passer of the battle, good tackle but few goals in his career, he tends to leave shooting to others. Legs going

Giovanni Hatzori-28-playmaker: Games: 18(0) Goals: 4
hates to defend and can stop bothering if he is in a mood. However when he is in the mood and gets forward, he is wizard of all aspects of the ball. Due to his ego, he can lose the battle after taking to many people on/trying something too spectacular also pulling the team out of shape is a risk with him. Looks for flick on

Cuation’s joint top goalscorer at Bof.

Peter "Beanpole" Tanner-31-striker: Games: 18(0) Goals: 4
The target man, big and good at holding up the ball. Lacks speed and fails to score but his main job is to bring others into the game.

Bench

Peter Seamen-36-GK: Games: 2(4) Goals: 0 Conceded: 3
average goalie and reliable but doesn't reassure back line. Winning over his critics

Jamie Hargreves-28-Def/Mid: Games: 2(4) Goals: 0
plays anywhere in defence or in midfield but is pretty average. Good as fresh legs but that is about it

Rio Samba-28-CB: Games: 2(8) Goals: 1
a ball playing centre back but prone too playing off the pace and for being distracted. Suffering confidence problems and deemed too unreliable at the moment

Steven Milnar-23-Winger: Games 0(3) Goals: 1
Has progressed up the Cuation league as a promising talent but has never quite fuffiled it. A winger who looks to sneak into the box and score, he is also pretty good when he stays wide. Replaces the retired Stanely Edwards

Rual Mendisez-19-striker: Games:2(10) Goals: 5
Pacy small goalscorer. Doesn't fit in with the style of play and can not dribble or jump much but useful in the counter attack or to chase a lead. Prodigy but manager unwilling to risk him.

Cuation’s joint top goalscorer at Bof 25

THE ARCHREGIMANCY BRINGS YOU

THE ARCHREGIMANCY WC 26 SQUAD

Time passes differently in the Dreamed Realm, so the Archregimancy has the luxury of entering an unchanged side from the last World Cup if it so chooses, but there have been a couple of retirements as two players wish to spend more time devoting their time to prayer than to football.

For those not in the know, the Archregimancy is a nation of Orthodox (Eastern Orthodox Christian - Russian, Greek, Serb, Antiochian etc) monks and celibate priests.

COACH:
Metropolitan Kyrill of Solovetsky

THE STARTING XI:
The Archregimancy plays in an orthodox 4-4-2 formation (style: 0)

GK:
Fr. Justinian the Thrice-Blessed (Pantaleimon): Roundly acknowledged as the best goalkeeper in the Monastic League, Fr. Justinian saved three shots in the penalty shoot-out that decided a recent Pantaleimon v Pantocrator Monastic Cup semi-final.

DEF:
Fr. Michael the New Hermit (Hermits United): On those rare occasions where he actually leaves his small cell high in the mountains to play for his team, Fr. Michael the New Hermit is a left-back of no little skill and refinement.

Fr. Michael the Greater (Troitse-Sergiyeva): His name has nothing to do with his devotion – this towering centre-back is merely several centimetres taller than his namesake and teammate Fr. Michael the Lesser.

Fr. Dmitri the Humble (Pantocrator): While vowed to silence and humility, there’s nothing humble about this centre-backs crunching tackles.

Fr. Michael the Lesser (Troitse-Sergiyeva): Club teammate of Fr. Michael the Greater, and a speedy overlapping right-back fond of taking corners.

MID:
Fr. Andrew the Twice-Found (Vatopedion): This left-winger has had two spells at Vatopedion either side of a spiritual journey through the vast emptiness of the Archregimancy’s desert.

Fr. Constantine the Learned (Simonopetra) Fr. Polycarp the Venerable's decision to retire from international football has left a huge gap in midfield which his Simonopetra team-mate - a studious tactical master - now hopes to fill.

Fr. David the Water-Drinker CAP (Llanilltud Fawr): The only western-rite player on the squad - and controversial choice as captain - this central midfielder is renowned for spurning the heretical properties of Gatorade for the spiritually uplifting properties of pure spring water.

Fr. Pavel the Wanderer (Iviron): Iviron’s star right-winger – a celibate priest rather than a monk - often drifts in from the wing in the course of one of his trademark mazy dribbles.

FOR:
Fr. Silouan of the Seventy Caves (Solovetsky): This centre forward’s goalscoring ability is second only to his attention to the Holy Fasts.

Fr. Basil the Faster (Pantaleimon): Even more devoted to the Holy Fasts than Fr. Silouan - this past Great Lent he ate nothing but grass - Fr. Basil is also quite a speedy little forward.

The team is always accompanied to matches by the Holy Icon of the Mother of God, Bringer of Victory, which shall be paraded before the team before all home and away qualifiers.

Tips for footballing visitors to the Archregimancy:

1) Each home match is preceded by the complete Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. Rest assured that this should only require visiting teams, fans, and officials to stand for a mere 2 hours before kickoff. Consider yourselves lucky we don't use the Liturgy of St. Basil.

2) We control the nature of reality in the Dreamed Realm (see NSwiki for more details on our region). This isn't used to cheat - all normal rules of football are strenuously followed - but it does have two major side effects:
A) Any injuries to either team in Archregimancy home matches are immediately healed.
B) No violent or riotous behaviour by visiting fans will be tolerated. Any such behaviour will find those responsible immediately transported back to ordinary physical reality.

3) Direct travel from ordinary physical reality to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. Some 72 hours before your away qualifier in the Archregimancy, a team of monks shall arrive in your home stadium and construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. You may then use this to travel to the Archregimancy at your leisure.

4) A maximum of 10,000 visiting supporters shall be permitted into the Archregimancy for each qualifying match.

5) Women are not usually permitted into the Archregimancy. Exceptions will be made for visiting players and properly accredited officials - largely because we have to - but not for visiting supporters.

6) The rules of international football force us to permit atheists, communists, freemasons, assorted heretics and foul excelites into the Archregimancy for home qualifiers - but this doesn't mean we have to like it.

(There is an Archregimancy NSwiki entry - link pending when I can be bothered)

OOC: I realise my team might present a role-playing challenge. Rest assured that once they start playing they'll play just like any other team (though they might be a bit more inclined to pray after scoring), so I have no problem with you treating the team like any other if you don't want to deal with the Orthodox Christian element.

Collonie announce starters for first (second?) appearance in World Cup

The Collonie Eagles have decided to do the exact same roster that they had in their last Baptism of Fire and World Cup appearance, sort of. Collonie played the first game of the World Cup qualifying only to see it deleted and made as if never played, when they were pulled by King Fishhook because he thought that soccer might start a revolution. Now he has calmed down about soccer since Clyde Misterson has become the star player for the Desert Foxes and has allowed Collonie to compete in WC 26. With the exact same roster as WC 25 and with the exact same coach, Natan Schlomit. Here is the roster with explanations about the important players.

Starters:
Gk Floyd Chooler
D Thomas Cornt
D Meir Ben Moshe
D Paris Klesterfeud
D Amit Luton
M Quentin Myler- A great midfielder for Great Alexandria. Good on the ball and an excellent crosser.
M Bobby Connon- The perfect central midfielder. Good at creating chances, holding the ball in midfield and scoring when he needs to. Is a teammate of Kate Windsor.
M Kevin Mirshmon
F Kate Windsor- Windsor and her clubmate Bobby Connon play very good together. Will be counted on to take some of the pressure off of Misterson.
F Clyde Misterson (captain)- Best player Collonie has ever produced. Led the MFL in goals last year and led the Desert Foxes to a Milchama Cup before that. Scores a lot of goals and as he goes the squad goes.
F Owen Micheals
Subs:
Gk Larry Koot
D Thomos Barry
D Barry Thomos
M Allan Merchant
F Avi Gould

Sarzonia Stars

COACH: Barry Owens, 47. First season as head coach of Sarzonia; 5-2-6 with Legalese
Assistant Coach: Brett Hancock, 40. First season as assistant coach of the senior national team after taking the second choice side to the AOCAF finals match against Hypocria.

SQUAD LIST (starters in bold)

GOALKEEPERS

35 Horace Sandt (Woodstock Wild): Team captain. The 31 year old netminder has solidified his place among Sarzonia’s all-time greats by leading the team to two World Cup championship finals and one title in four straight trips to the semifinals. The Stars have conceded one goal in qualifying in three straight World Cups with Sandt playing every minute of every match.
39 Harvey Cooley (Saugerties Snakes): Cooley made his career as the starting netminder for the Under 21 national team and won a third place title in his first stop entrenched as the starter. At 27 years old, he is still waiting for his chance to shine.

DEFENDERS

2 Mike Coyle (Woodstock): Left back in the Wild's 4-4-2 alignment. Speedy defender who has added veteran savvy to his athleticism. Now 32, has become a steady hand in the backfield.
12 Kenny Houlder (Saugerties): Although Holder is just 21 years old, he has become a steady contributor to the Snakes because of his fanatical study of his opponents and his constant work with his coaches to improve his game.
27 Brian Sandt (New Praeton College): At 24 years old, the youthful Sandt has bloodlines to his advantage, being the younger brother of starting goalkeeper Horace Sandt. He also injects some youth to a roster that has undergone significant turnover after the departure of former national team coach Dave Wilson.
7 Ettore Salivani (New Jerusalem Nobles): This 31 year old spent some time as the captain of the AOCAF finalist Sarzonia side until his outburst against Starblaydia cost him the armband. He's being given a chance to prove himself at this level.
22 Jeff Comstock (Nicksia Knights): After the Knights' surprise run through the NSFA Cup, Comstock signed a free agent contract with them. He brings speed and grit to the team. At 26 years old, he is now one of Sarzonia's many veterans.
19 Kurt Laughton (Bristol Braves): Even though he's only 25 years old, he graduated from Joe Gibbs University at 19 following intense home schooling. Perhaps the smartest player on the pitch from a schooling perspective.
12 Mike Cole (Bristol): Cole is a rugby standout as well as a footballer, having led the Sarzonia Galaxians to a surprise berth in the knockout rounds their first time out. At 27 years old, he gives Laughton a run for his money for brain power.

MIDFIELDERS

4 Henrik Bastale (Turoki Isle - Vilita): Has starred for Turoki Isle since his transfer from the Portland Timbers, being named Foreign Player of the Year in the Vilitan league. He has a lot of pure speed and ball control, but needs to learn to pace himself for 90 minutes. Just turned 25.
14 Jenna Raven (Woodstock Justice, women’s team): Has been under the radar after the abolishment of the Under 21 national side, Raven was the first player contacted by Owens after he was named the team’s head coach. At 25 years old, becomes a key member of Sarzonia’s youth movement after the team became veteran-laden under Dave Wilson.
19 Jarret Sanderson (Woodstock Wild): Sanderson has come a long way from his days as the Junior Stars’ malcontent to become a star player for the Under 21 national side. Now 24 years old, he brings some extra maturity and an infusion of youth to the senior side.
13 Calvin Olson (New Jerusalem): Olson is deadly accurate from up to 30 yards on free kicks with his right boot. For a skillful midfielder, he's surprisingly physical. This 30 year old has been suspended due to yellow card point accumulation three times last season.
24 Landra Tennison (Woodstock Justice, women's team): She earned a spot in the starting 11 on the Stars for AOCAF VIII after an impressive tryout where she out-physicaled several men despite her 5 foot 6, 133 pound frame. At 30 years old, she'll earn a spot in the starting 11 if she continues to play well.

FORWARDS
22 Brian Wilson (Woodstock): At 30, has earned experience playing abroad in one of the world's largest media fishbowls. His father became a legend as the national team's head coach after winning 94 games with Sarzonia and a AOCAF trophy with Hypocria, so he often thinks like a coach on the pitch. Former national team captain.
19 Kenny Cooper (Tacoma): Now 28, he is the all-time leading goal scorer for the U21 national team. He's still trying to put it all together at the senior World Cup level.
20 Kevin Wilson (Joe Gibbs University): The younger son of former Stars Coach Dave Wilson and the younger brother of team captain Brian, Kevin shares his brother's instincts on the pitch and may be even more of a heartthrob than his older brother. At 26 years old, joins his older brother Brian fulltime on the first choice national team.
15 Roy Spencer (Grappenhall United, Bettia): The 25 year old Spencer made an impression in the 10th AOCAF tournament, signing with a Bettian side (OOC: I’ll fill that in once I’m reminded of exactly which one) and has earned a spot on the squad.

The Kingdom of Elrich

After narrowly missing out on World Cup 25 Elrich will hope to qualify for the competition in Oliverry and Commerce Heights. Mike Bassett's men were unlucky to miss out on qualification last time out by just 2 points and the moustached man will be hoping his side can do him proud in the upcoming tournament, although he will be hoping to avoid the poor performances of the preceding Cup of Harmony effort.

With Vinnie Jones retiring at the age of 39, Mike Bassett gambles on the Wolfman as his replacement, who unbelievable will be more aggressive than his predecessor! After huge criticism of Bassett in the media, Danny Adams is finally replaced at left-back with the more attacking Norbert Scaramanga, Barry Scott however, retains his place in the side. New addtions to the squad include the tricky winger Jeremiah, right back Scatman John, and the posh and versatile Cornelius Cucumber. The total squad size is 21, the largest the nation has ever entered.

TEAM - THE KINGDOM OF ELRICH
NICKNAME - THE BADGERS
HOME STADIUM - THE ELRICH ARENA 85,000 (50,000 seated) with retractable roof
HOME COLOURS - RED AND WHITE HALVES WITH BLACK TRIM, BLACK SHORTS AND BLACK SOCKS

MANAGER - MIKE BASSETT
Previous Managerial Posts - Peterborough, Norwich, England, Wirral County
Bio - After famously guiding England to the semi final of the Brazilian World Cup, Bassett was greeted back home in his native country as a hero, and he famously announced he would continue the role as manager for "4 more years". Sadly, this never materialised as the FA announced that they would not be offering Bassett a new contract. The Government of Elrich saw their opportunity and beat off fierce competition to sign Bassett as National Manager in June 2005. A Baptism of Fire and a World Cup qualifying campaign later the jury was still out on Bassett. He's like marmite, you love him or you hate him - his team are inconsistant to say the least. A poor start to World Cup 25 Qualifying campaign led to a press campaign calling for his head. Bassett reacted in style, impressive qualifying form, including historic victories over the mighty Trurori and old friends Hurfordia, led the Badgers to the brink of qualification. It wasn't to be, and Bassett's men missed out by a mere 2 points. A dissapointing Cup of Harmony campaign followed, with the side failing to progress from the group stages. With the nation's hopes high, and potential successor the basketball coach Jonathan Cecil-Shoe gaining media support, qualification is the only thing which would definitely keep Bassett in his position.

Preferred Formation - Four, Four, F****** Two

ASSISTANT - Dave Dodds
COACHES - Zoltan Pepper, Pete Zaria and ex-player Vinnie Jones
PHYSIO - Wilma Leggrowback

THE SQUAD

1 GORDON BURNS
This famous news presenter and ex-presenter of the Krypton Factor has his own cult following back home in his native Elrich known as Team GB. Gordon is a favourite with the Elrich crowd and expecially the song-writers. Burns is calm and collected with safe hands and incredible shot stopping ability. Has impressed in his international exploits so far

2 BARRY SCOTT
Fresh from his advertising exploits with Cillit Bang, the Badger's fullback is famous for his stout, resolute defending and attacking flair. Despite a knee injury which has kept him out of action for the past 2 months Barry reassures the press that he is GOOD AS NEW!!!

20 NORBERT SCARMANGA
As some critics would say, Scaramanga "finally" replaces the clearly deteriorating Danny Adams at left-back in the Elrichian line-up. Offering attacking threat from full-back is something the internationaly side has lacked over the years, but the introduction of the crossing-genious could prove the key to World Cup Qualification.

666 THE WOLFMAN
Is the Wolfman the first of his species to take part in a World Cup? Replacing the retiring Vinnie Jones with an even more intimidating defender would at first glance seem impossible, but Bassett appears to have done so. The ferocious defender becomes the latest in the line of Elrichian sportsmen/species to emerge from the nations large circus community. Without doubt he has the ability to "make his mark" not only on football, but on the players he comes up against (and plays with) as well. Although his strength, power and energy is unquestionable this is a huge gamble by Bassett. Discipline could be a huge problem, with the Wolfman being dismissed in every single game he played for Circus Bohemians in the Elrichian League last season. Also prone to "howlers" of mistakes.

5 PETER SPINKS
The younger of the Spinks brothers, the stocky centre-half is respected for organising the Badger's backline, as well as his own tackling and heading attributes. The no-nonsense defender's motto is "If in doubt, hoof it out". However he is renowned for the odd flash of brilliance.

6 ROBIN BANKS
Surprise inclusion, but only due to the fact he has been allowed to leave his sentence at the National State prison for the second time in successive World Cups to join up with the squad. There is no doubting Banks' on-field fiery ability, but it is off the field where his record is less impressive. Banks was, until his call-up, serving another two-year sentence due to his part in an attempted Bank Robbery. On the pitch the central midfielder is a great ballwinner, strong in the tackle and uses his physical ability to the edge of the laws, and sometimes beyond them.

7 MATTHEW "DIDDY" ALLEN
The 4 foot wonderkid is only 16 years of age but has burst onto the international scene with a bang. His useful knack of being able to run through defenders legs can only be to his advantage, but he is not exactly an aerial threat. The right winger is renowned for his dribbling and crossing.

8 JOHN SPINKS
The fiery red-head midfielder in his earlier days was thought to be named SKNIPS due to a printing error on his shirt, where his name was spelt backwards. The elder of the Spinks brothers contributes goals and assists from midfield and forms a useful partnership with the more defensive Robin Banks.

81 ELRICH (C)
Legend. The King and leader of the country will carry the nations hopes on his shoulders. Although not physically built for such a sport, it is his intelligence which makes him special, he sees things others cannot, and his finishing is unchallenged. His incredible footballing exploits abroad with Busan Icons earned him such Heroic status that not a street, but the Nation itself was named after him, and he was announced leader of his Kingdom. All time leading goalscorer, but increasing in age and status as leading striker with the emergence of Jamie Mudge. Will always be a legend.

11 JAMIE MUDGE
From non-league obscurity to the national side in the matter of minutes, the Tiverton Town striker was a surprise addition to the World Cup 24 squad. Despite from being far from a house-hold name in Elrich, the young striker scored an immense 59 goals in his clubs promotion through the non-league ranks. His loyalty to his hometown club has been incredible, bordering on insane. He has turned down offers to join Premier League sides the Real Deal and Scumchester United and manager Mike Bassett insisted that Mudge had the talent to perform on the big stage. Bassett was proved right, a sensation at the World Cup 24 qualifiers Mudgie followed this up with a bucketful of goals in World Cup 25 qualification, including a memorable hat-trick against Hurfordia and the winner away at Trurori.

99 ZEBEDEE
The dazzling, skilful and tricky winger is from Jamaican descent and his dazzling skills quite literally dazzle everyone. Despite often being laughed at by opposition fans for his thin "chickenish" legs, he is a real Bobby Dazzler (except he's not called Bobby). His golden boots do half the dazzling for him. Often decides to dazzle an extra 5 players for the fun of it rather than having a shot.

SUBS

10 JIMMY GRIMBLE
He no longer needs his magic boots and the Manchester City youngster despite not breaking into his club team, has already established himself as supporting striker for his national side. His skills and pace are legendary. Last years fallout with a set of Elrichian fans after continually being shouted at to "Pass it to bloody Elrich" appear to have now ended. Despite a reasonable international record, the emergence of Jamie Mudge has pushed Grimble back onto the bench.

12 GEZ MURPHY
Talented both footed winger, who can play on the left or right. His flair and set-pieces often make him a useful option to turn a game around from the bench. Has he many more chances to impress though?

13 HUBERT BUSBY JNR
This 1 eyed, 1 legged, 1 armed goalkeeper was always the last to be picked at school. The people of Elrich pray he will not be called into action. Elrich insists that Busby's 5,000,000 donation to the National FA was nothing to do with his inclusion in the squad.

14 RICHARD HODGINS
SUBMARINE, SUBMARINE, He's the famous Richard Hodgins and he lives in a Submarine, SUBMARINE, SUBMARINE, he's the famous Richard Hodgins and he lives in a Submarine. What the Navy FC midfielder lacks in footballing ability, he more than makes up for with his legendary song. A National Hero.

15 DAN SINGH-QUEEN
Although his celebrations make Michael Jackson look like Scooby Doo, the agile striker has yet to really get going with the national side. He finally opened his account for the Badgers in World Cup 24 - albeit after having made a complete fool of himself impressively celebrating 3 disallowed goals earlier in the tournament.

16 JEREMIAH After banging on the international door for a number of years, the cousin of Zebedee is finally included in Mike Bassett's World Cup squad. A similar player in style to Zebedee, a pacey trickey winger able to play on either side will hope to establish himself in his first international tournament.

17 CORNELIUS CUCUMBER
Another new addition to the squad, Cucumber has impressed for the Elrichian side Sweet as a Moose FC this season, and is rewarded with a place in Mike Bassett's squad. A versatile player, Cucumber is at home at full-back or in midfield. Hailing from an extremely upper-class background, Cornelius upset his parents when he rejected his father's sport of "Polo" to persue a career in the "common" game of football. Technically very tidy.

18 SCATMAN JOHN
The Team Snavsninkstencottiddy right-back is included as direct competition to the aging Barry Scott at right-back. Critics would like to see the man named after a dodgy nineties pop-star established in the first-team, and Scatman John will hope to make that right-back slot his own by the end of the competition.

19 FRANK N'STEIN
Although aging, the huge, intimidating defender (and Basketball center), famous for his green skin has established himself as a useful member of the Elrich Squad. Despite lacking pace, and..well a brain, his brute strength and aerial prowess at 8 feet make him a useful option against route one opposition. Unlikely to feature.

3 DANNY ADAMS
Ex Postman and Macclesfield Town legend, the no-nonsense shaven headed meathead offers some of the hardest tackling in the game. Although he is not known for attacking brilliance, he plays it simple and keeps possession for the team. His aggression and defensive abilitys make him an important part of the Badger's backline, although his place in the squad is now questioned by some after some dissapointing form in the Cup of Harmony and his increasing age. Will struggle to get back in the side.

3-4-3 posting

---Goalkeeper---

#4 Powell Lamar 40 years old (Ariot Lupes) - Lamar has been the starting keeper for the Vikings since World Cup 20. Has been the best keeper in Fmjphoenix since he was 17 years old. Still has the energy of a 21 year old in his first match. Has stated that this will be his last football event as a player.

---Defenders---

#14 Brian Bash 18 years old (Takil Lines) - Son of Vikings defender Bobby Bash. Has the same inherent slide abilities as his father. Youngest player to become a starter for the Vikings. Helps form a solid young defense for an offenseive team.

#12 Kerien Haylcon 22 years old (RFC Vrelt) - All around solid player. He doesn't excel in any one aspect, but seems to perform best when stopping opponents from going forward.

---Midfielders---

---Forwards---

SQUAD (starters in bold)
Goalkeepers

Defenders
2 Khalid Amad (24). The youngest member of the most experienced part of the team, Amad brings speed at the halfback position in Majeristan's 4-4-2 formation. Warriors FC of Majeristan's largest city Henriabad have begun negotiations with Amad to man their backline.
4 Omar Joussaef (31). Age may have caught up to him as far as the Woodstock Wild were concerned, but Joussaef still brings speed that few players in the Majeristani semipro leagues can match. His years with the Wild gave him the savvy to face some of the finest talent in the world.
5 Bartolomeo Mustafa (34). Team captain. Unlike the Wild, which is embarking on a youth movement, the Portland Timbers were looking for a seasoned defender; however, Mustafa is not interested in playing sweeper until he's proven himself as the right fullback one last time.
14 Nur Horacio (35). Even though he retired from Division 1 play three years ago, Horacio was still considered by Mashoda the best right halfback with Majeristani papers.
6 Sarai Lujema (29). Though there was great controversy throughout Majeristan over having a female player on the team, she earned a spot for being able to play all four back line positions or sweeper in a 3-5-2.
16 Bevan bin Hessam (36). On an old defence, he's the oldest player and has been chosen strictly to provide depth for his team.

Midfielders
7 Osiris Benoit (22). A hard-nosed, rugged defensive midfielder, Benoit has been known to draw his share of cautions. Mashoda has been on him to control his temper, but when he's playing right, he's shutting down playmaking midfielders the world over.
9 Joe Taylor (23). The son of assistant coach Roger Taylor, there was controversy among the team for a non-Muslim being on the team, but Horacio held a meeting with Taylor and the team to clear the air. Taylor is now accepted among his teammates for his dangerous play on the left flank.
12 Sandalio Istali (21). Sandalio is the designated right footed free kick taker and has a rocket that can bend into the net from up to 35 yards out. He's been known to overrun his share of balls, however.
10 Hasse Ayanbede (20). With great inventiveness as a playemaker that belies his youth, Ayanbede was the only choice for playmaking midfielder in Mashoda's 4-4-2 formation. He still needs to learn to not be rattled by aggressive defensive midfielders.
13 Jaidev Djorki (19). Without Majeristan fielding a Under 21 programme, Djorki will have to learn on the job, but he's working hard on improving his defence so he can earn a spot in the starting 11 sooner, rather than later.
15 Ricky Spriggs (20). Despite the name, he is a full-blood Muslim, though he was raised by Sarzonian adopted parents. Brings a touch of the discipline he learned from a long ago coaching clinic put on by then-Sarzonia coach Dave Wilson.

Forwards
11 Hakan el Dajani (23). In the 20 games he played in the Majeristani semipro league, he scored 24 goals and is one of the most dangerous players with a header this side of Crystilakere.
15 Akamu Rasefjani (21). Blinding speed and a lethal left-booted shot are Rasefjani's biggest assets. His youth is his biggest drawback at the moment.
17 Mahli Noguni (24). Even though he's the most experienced forward on the roster, he has a partying streak and that cost him a spot on the starting 11. Otherwise, he has been developing some football savvy in his time in New Daurmont under Dave Wilson's half-brother.

Utility player, noted for efficient but unentertaining playing style.

Bettia Ready to Roar

After the heroics of the last World Cup which saw them through to the quarter-finals before going out to eventual champions Starblaydia, Bettia's management have decided to stick with the all-out attack that served them so well (in other words, Bettia's style modifier is +2), and have largely kept faith with the last World Cup squad. But before announcing the squad, the FAB have got a few words for the world...

If they RP first, the Football Association of Bettia hereby gives
their opponents permission to RP and godmod anything they want, short of
killing any players - I mean, what kind of sick bastard would do THAT!?.

Goalkeepers:

1. Ricardo DiTorino - Akani Sands, age 22, 66 caps.
The last few years have been of almost imeasurable success for the Akani Sands keeper - his team are riding high in the league after their FAB Cup success last year last year. The cat-like agility of this young shot-stopper has propelled him to the brink of international stardom.

2. Amir Bettison - Gabalfa Rovers, age 35, 53 caps.
Hugely experianced and inspirational keeper with a great footballing brain.

3. Robert Sole - Lorshill United, age 25, 4 caps.
A 6'2" keeper who is an imposing prescence in the box, and is excellent at handling crosses.

Defence:

4. Gwynoro Tyrno'r - Makosile United (Vilita), age 22, 16 caps, 1 goal.
An exciting young defensive talent whose displays in Cup of Harmony 15 earned him a move to the Vilitan league. Despite mainly being used as a substitute in the last World Cup, he still managed to weigh in with a goal.

5. Geraint Carew - Vimesbairn Athletic (Cockbill Street), age 29, 98 caps, 3 goals.
One of the most experienced and consistant players in the squad. A dependable tackler and swift counter-attacker, Carew also shows some prowess from the penalty spot.

6. Jon McKinnon - Patriots Everton (Krytenia), age 23, 52 caps.
Like Gwynoro Tyrno'r, McKinnon worked his way through the Under-21 ranks before clinching a spot in the full international squad at a young age, and, like Tyrno'r, his potential was spotted by foreign talent scouts.

7. Amir Bin Da'ud - Gabalfa Rovers, age 31, 70 caps.
An exciting, experienced left wing-back who made a name for himself in Bettian football with his long throws which have set up many goals in the past for both club and country.

8. Gareth Coates (captain) - Grappenhall United, age 28, 84 caps, 1 goal.
Vastly experienced captain of the Bettian national squad who often puts in near-flawless performances (according to him anyway).

9. Musa Williams - Gabalfa Rovers, age 30, 77 caps.
This experienced tough-tackling centre-back has been a mainstay of the Bettian squad for many years, and its not difficult to see why. Is a veritable rock in defence for both club and country.

Midfield:

10. John Connick - Rolestu FC (Bedistan), age 32, 93 caps.
His keen awareness of players around him and pinpoint passes has established this midfield dynamo as the playmaker of the team.

11. Badr Warlow - Gabalfa City, age 24, 27 caps, 5 goals.
An emerging talent whose free-kicks are famed and feared within the Apex League. Scored 3 times in the last cup, and will be looking to muscle his way into the first team after spending many years in the shadows of Brooks and Connick.

12. Omar Whistler - Strundanne FC (Nedalia), age 27, 53 caps, 12 goals.
A solid experienced midfielder who, after having a torrid season with his former club Maindy, has made the move over the border to Nedalia.

13. Evan Brooks - Gabalfa Rovers, age 30, 84 caps, 22 goals.
Reckoned by many to be the best midfielder Bettia has ever produced, his set-pieces are second to none. Equally at home in the centre or on either wing.

Wingers:

14. Aaron Brown - Rumnasih Rangers, age 25, 46 caps, 2 goals.
A nippy little right-winger with undoubted attacking capabilities, often linking up well with the right back to set up swift attacks.

15. Ieaun Swain - Grappenhall United, age 25, 57 caps, 2 goals.
An exceptionally quick player who has made the left-wing slot his own. Is currently enjoying another tremendous season with a resurgent Grappenhall, and will be hoping his club form translates onto the international field, just as it did in the last World Cup.

16. Jason Abdullah - Butetown Dragons, age 22, 41 caps.
A firey youngster who usually plays on the right but just as capable on the left, making him an ideal member for this squad. Performed exceptionally well in the new set-up, and will be looking to build in the sucess of WC25.

17. Chris Walworth - Akani Sands, age 27, 17 caps, 2 goals.
Has made a handful of appearances for the Aroras, netting twice in the last campaign. Primarily a winger, although he can play in the centre if needed.

Forwards:

18. Lewis Bin-Majd - Gabalfa City, age 32, 12 caps, 2 goals.
Prolific club goalscorer who made his debut during AOCAF IX, he has struggled to translate his impressive club form into the green and gold quarters. Is a potent striker, especially from long-range.

19. Latif Hunter - Aigburth Athletic (Krytenia), age 22, 43 caps, 18 goals.
A true wonderkid, Hunter astounded the Bettian footballing scene by winning the Golden Boot during the first Apex League. Has been playing in Krytenia for a couple of seasons where the experience seems to have done hime a world of good. Was Bettia's leading scorer in the last World Cup with 11 goals.

20. Chris Hutton - Marine Coast United (Vilita), age 21, 72 caps, 34 goals.
A prolific scorer in international football who makes his living in the V-League. The centrepiece of Bettia's front line for a few seasons now, he is famed for his terrier-like tenacity and shooting accuracy. Scored ten goals for the Aroras in WC-25.

21. John Harding - Akani Sands, age 31, 39 caps, 20 goals.
A lanky striker whose goals helped Akani Sands to the cup last year, and was once again his club's leading scorer. His 6'4" frame makes him an obvious danger from corners and crosses.

22. Gethin Ward - Gabalfa Rovers, age 32, 48 caps, 16 goals.
Gabalfa Rovers' main striker has been a regular feature of the Bettian lineup for quite some time, but has been eclipsed by the emergence of such talent as Hunter, Hutton and York. A supreme goal poacher in the same vein as his former team-mate and Bettian legend Stuart Abdul-Rahim.

23. Judson York - Pylos Reavers (Hypocria), age 29, 67 caps, 37 goals.
Fearsome. There's no other word to describe Judson York. His skill, speed and power has seen him set the Hypocrian league on fire over the last couple of seasons, coming away once again with the Golden Boot. He has established himself as a first team regular for Bettia. A versatile striker who can play as a centre-forward or on either wing. Scored 8 times in the last World Cup.

24. Ieuan Howerth - CPD Porthbalfa, age 23, 10 caps, 2 goals.
After spending some time abroad, Howerth has returned to his former club after the Liamist States went belly-up. Howerth is nicknamed The Flea because he irritates and taunts opponents with his flair and skill, which sometimes makes him the target of some crunching tackles. Scored twice in his first World Cup, and will be looking to carry on that good form.

25. Husni Teague - Butetown Dragons, age 31, 13 Caps, 1 goal.
Was an integral part of the Dragons phenomal second-place finish last season, Teague will be looking to create more chances for himself on the international scene after only making a few substitute appearances.

Yaforite Golden Wolves Roster

The Cup-of-Harmony winning side have made few changed to their previous roster - what changes wer needed? The team showed it's mettle and skill in the past against quality competition, and there is, was, and will not be, need to improve the core of their team. However, many of their fringe players and backups have been changed, as other players come into their prime and play well in the LIDYT, and are subsequently rewarded.

1)Manager: Keron Alhrem. Club: Ajer FC. Background/qualifications: Keron Alhrem has been coach for recent seven-time-in-a-row champions Ajer FC for (surprisingly) seven years. He has replaced a manager who, at the heart of it, was a manager who, while he often had good relations, had bad relations with his players on this team. Alhrem will have none of those. While many players play for Ajer FC, there a quite a few players for Ajer United, as well, but crosstown enemity, in Yafor 2, does not extend to the players. Keron Alhrem has a huge taks ahead of him, with the eyes of a nation upon his, but he knows pressure, being manager of a winner.

*2)Goalkeeper: Deron Smithes. Club: Ajer FC. Background/qualifications: Last year's goalie, Smithes had a hard time during the Baptism of Fire, because of the excitement, media speculation, and knee injury that he suffered that year. This year, however, he has completely trashed the LIDYT record in clean sheets and looks set to break upon the international scene...in a good way. His excellent performance in the Cup of Harmony has made him a must-have commodity on the fantasy scene, and a starter.

3)Goalkeeper: Abul Hamer. Club: Ramen FC. Background/qualifications: Abul Hamer has been one of the better goalies in the LIDYT for years. Hamer's main problem, however, was getting a strong side. He languished in Deros FC, even playing in the lower division, but has, at last, found a long time home in Ramen FC, a team in dire need of a goalie. Despite playing on the bench during the Cup of Harmony, he is expected to still use his experience and skill to an extreme level.

4)Goalkeeper: Ameran Bulod. Club: Chelmar FC.
*5)Left Defender: Joraset Jeyllan. Club: Ramen United.
*6)Left Center Defender: Hares Dalermo. Club: Ajer United.
*7)Center Defender: Halen Croat. Club:Aldelard FC.
*8)Right Center Defender: Thia Boley. Club: Cardarel FC.
*9)Right Defender: Harolen Maores. Club: Kaza X-Teem [Kaze Progressea].
10)Left/Left Center Defender: Jukerer Itolasin. Club: Ajer FC.
11)Right/Right Center Defender: Olet Damer. Club: Ajer United.
12)Center Defender: Jumer Havas. Club: Texa Aba [Kaze Progressea].
*13)Right Midfielder: Damiel Fraten. Club: Ajer FC.
*14)Center Midfielder: Gerod Flamer(captain). Club: Gigidorel FC.
*15)Left Midfielder: Hales Ysilko. Club: Harrel FC.
16)Right Midfielder: Ikorat Federof. Club: Kaza X-Teem [Kaze Progressea].
17)Center Midfielder: Prince Seberd. Club: Ajer FC.
18)Left Midfielder: Korast Ytern. Club: Ajer United.
*19)Right Striker: Fernando Malar. Club: Ajer United.
*20)Left Striker: Francisco Malar. Club: Ajer FC.
21)Right Striker: Iktam Velastros. Club: Chelmar FC.
22)Left Striker: Ashmaerin Thororatbladae. Club: Cardarel FC.

(IE is doing something funny on my computer, and posting as Anathematic Republics has become impossible for the moment. This is the roster for the Republics, who play in a -2 style, and who may have anything done to them, as it's already been done in Hell)

THE ANATHEMATIC REPUBLICS RAGIN' PAGANS

GK - Herod Antipas. Jewish king who ordered the mass slaughter of local newborns in an effort to kill the newborn Christ.

D - Flavius Cladius Julianus (Julian the Apostate) - last pagan emperor of Rome. Attempted to forment schisms between various factions of the Christian Church to weaken it and strengthen the pagan community.
D - Nero - ‘nuff said.
D - Gennady Gromyko, werewolf. - Not actually a pagan, as he was a Western Rite Christian from the Ukraine before falling into corruption. Placed on the squad at the request of Satan.
D - Batu - Mongol prince who led the campaign against the Russians in Kiev and Moscow and established the Golden Horde.
D - Boris Krum, werewolf - Once again, a nonpagan (a Bulgarian Mormon) who fell into the dread curse of Lycanthropy and ended up in Hell.
D - Sviatoslav I - Pagan Russian leader who raided Byzantium and christian Bulgaria.

M - Geraldo Rivera. Because there truly is a just God.
M - Raoul Gonzales, were-manatee. Odd case. A Cuban migrant to South Florida who contracted lycantropy from a passing manatee on the way there. Died at the hands of a luxury yacht while transformed in Miami harbor when a drunken butler dropped a heavy silver platter over the ship that pierced Raoul’s skin and led to his death by massive bleeding.

F - Attila the Hun
F - Subutai - Mongol general who masterminded the campaign against the Orthodox Russian states, and threatened to destroy the entirety of Western Europe until the death of the Khan forced him to return to Mongolia to participate in the election of the new Khan.

Praying2God Warriors Roster

Head Coach: Paul Johnson

He is the only Head Coach the Warriors have had since returning to WC competition. This is now his 6th WC as Head Coach, and he has a career record of 25-26-16 (wins-losses-ties). Expectations are high for this WC after a somewhat surprising 3rd place finish in CoH XVII. He is expected to lead the Warriors on a serious bid for a qualification spot in this WC. If the Warriors fall flat on their faces, his job may be in jeopardy.

Assistant Coach: John Ball
Goalie Coach: Mark Williams
Trainer: Mary Ann Glover

All of the assistant trainers know their roles, and are outstanding in them. In particular, Goalie Coach Mark Williams is becoming renowned throughout the world as one of the best in the business at what he does. Trainer Mary Ann Glover always seems to have the Warriors peaking at just the right time physically.

G: Sarah Larson (age 31)*

Sarah is one of the best goalies in the world. If the Warriors can get her a lead, the other team is in big trouble, as she finds a way to take her game up a notch when she's protecting a lead, especially in the late stages. She has also gone down in Warriors soccer lore for scoring the match-winning goal against Giant Zucchini in WC XXI. She secretly married longly-rumored love interest Thomas Larson since CoH XVII ended. They are not talking about retiring, but plan to start a family between WC XXVI and WC XXVII.

G: Susan Walker (15)

Sarah Walker’s sister is one of the most talented upcoming keepers in Praying2God. She probably won’t see much action, but she can do the job when called upon better than most. She will be able to learn a lot from her sister by being on the roster, and is expected to take her sister’s place in the starting line-up when she retires.

D: Christine Holly (31)*

Christine has become the heart and soul of the Warriors’ defense. Her offensive capabilities make her the most likely Warriors defender to score, especially since she takes most corner kicks. However, she's more known for her defensive abilities. Her younger sister, Kylie is also on the Warriors’ roster.

D: Claire Paulson (31)*

A very solid defender. She is also an outstanding passer, having garnered seven assists in her five WCs. She is still looking for her first goal on the national team. However, Claire plays quite defensively, so she doesn’t get many chances to score, but she does take some corner kicks.

D: Haley Erickson (19)*

Young in comparison to most of the Warriors starters, Haley has worked hard with the returning starters since the end of CoH XVII, and has looked to fit quite comfortably into the spot left by Luke Royal upon his retirement to start a family. Haley is a defensive defender, so don’t expect to see much from her in the scoring department, especially for her first couple of WCs.

D: Stephanie Vickner (19)*

Stephanie is also a young starter for the Warriors, and appears to be part of the beginning of the gradual youth movement on the Warriors roster, as the Warriors starters that have pretty much remained constant since returning to WC action in WC XX are starting to reach the late stages of their careers. Stephanie fills the spot vacated by Jenna Royal, who is now expecting her first child. Stephanie is another defensive defender, so she won’t do much scoring.

D: Danielle Karlson (19)
D: Ryan Stone (17)
D: Linda Storm (15)

This group of reserve defenders is fairly young, but very talented. They would not be much of a drop off from the starters if pressed into action, though the lack of experience might eventually show itself. All of them mark their assignment very well, and are good passers.

M: Ashley Gore (30)*

Ashley is the third leading scorer for the Warriors over her five WCs, compiling 19 points, with 13 of them coming on assists. She also has the distinction of being the first Warrior other than Thomas Larson to score a match-winning goal, when she scored in the 89th minute against Turori to give the Warriors a 2-1 upset, as well as being the only other Warrior to have scored multiple match-winning goals. She is a solid defensive player too.

M: Alissa Madison (30)*

A former reserve forward, Alissa was changed to a midfielder and named a starter when the Warriors changed formations before WC XXIV, and hasn’t disappointed with two goals and four assists. She has a lot of offensive talent, and was the best defensive forward on the roster when she played up front.

M: Jessica Stevenson (30)*

Jessica is likely in one of her last WCs, and has finally earned a starting position after the retirement of the Faiths, Kevin and Christa, who have their first child on the way. Jessica is an extremely patient midfielder, and is very good on defense. Don’t expect a huge contribution in the scoring column from her.

M: Kylie Holly (30)*

While more offensively minded than her sister, Christine, who leads the Warriors defense, Kylie is still a very good defensive player. She will probably contribute more to the scoring column than her fellow first-time starting midfield partner, Jessica. She might also stick around longer than most players her age because she keeps herself in very good condition. She is an outstanding passer and has great ball control.

M: Brittany Law (15)
M: Nicole Small (16)
M: Alison Red (15)
M: Sarah Toliver (15)

A very talented up-and-coming group of midfielders. Brittany may be the first Warriors reserve to get quality playing time during the WC to provide fresh legs, and prepare her to take a starting spot in the near future. This group has nice balance to it, and would be a group that compliments itself quite nicely if it would ever start together. All of them are quality players on both sides of the ball, with Nicole and Alison being the most defensive minded.

F: Thomas Larson (31) Captain*

Arguably one of the greatest players in the game today, and by far the most well-known Warriors player. He has the ability to score anytime he touches the ball, no matter where he is on the field. This is his fourth WC as the official Warriors captain. Hands down, the Warriors’ leading scorer, having poured in 50 points (35 goals, 15 assists) in his five WCs, in only 67 matches. Defenses try to focus on shutting him down, but with all the offensive talent between the forwards and midfielders, it is hard to double him at all times. However, with the retirement of the Faiths and the uncertainty it creates in the Warriors midfield defenses may be more willing to shift to triple and quadruple him in the box. He secretly married Sarah (Walker) Larson since CoH XVII ended, but is not talking about retiring any time soon, much to the dismay of international goalkeepers everywhere.

F: Kelly Carter (30)*

The second leading scorer for the Warriors, having scored 29 points (19 goals, 10 assists) in her five WCs. She is a threat anytime she touches the ball. However, her accomplishments have been overshadowed by Thomas'. She doesn’t appear to be planning on retiring in the near future.

F: Sarah King (31)
F: Amy Elder (19)

A pair of very talented back-up forwards. Amy is young compared to the most of the other members of the team, but that may be a good thing, as she’ll be better suited to lead once the current starters are gone. Amy also got married after CoH XVII to her high school sweetheart, but she is not talking about retiring soon. Sarah is a veteran at warming the bench, as she’s done it for 65 of 67 matches on the national team. However, she’s very capable, and would not be a big step down from the starters, despite the fact that they are prolific scorers. This may be Sarah’s last WC, though as she may fall victim to the Warriors gradual youth movement.

Opponents can do whatever they want, just don't kill my players please. The Saints play a karela-like 7-2-1, which translates to a -2.

The Weegie side play an attacking 4-4-2 formation, making their style +1. The Weegies will be playing their World Cup Qualifying games in the People's Stadium, Mackintosh, which holds up to 95,000 people, or 120,000 anorexics. Players numbered 1-11 are likely starters.

Manager: Frederick Persson, 56.

Depending upon your point of view (and in Weegie football terms, there are always more than a few, argued fiercely), Persson is either the best or the worst manager the Islanders have had in years. He almost got us into the finals of the world cup, although others point out we were way off the top three's pace in terms of points, he took us to the final of the 2005 Aperin Cup of Nations (although others, again, point out that this was hosted in the Weegies, and we were, again, very sluggish in general), and took us outside the group stage of the Cup of Harmony for the first time in a long while (although, again, it is noted by many critics that we barely qualified from our group). He is praised for sticking to his guns, and criticised for being inflexible and unable to see reality by others. He was commended for this World Cup squad pick for listening to advice that more experience should be used in the side, and criticised by others for caving in to press pressure.

As you can tell, being Weegie National Squad Manager is only slightly less painful and frustrating a use of your time as sticking your genitals in a blender.

Weegie National Football Squad, WC26

1. Alasdair Robertson (GK), 26, Mackintosh Thistle Celtic

The big man from Mackintosh leads the way in selection, and no-one expected any different. Despite a few gaffes in the 04/05 season (the shock defeat at home to languishing Jamestoun City, for one), and the current season, Alasdair's confident handling as well as needle-sharp reflexes have made him the goalie to beat, and is the founding reason for the River Jags' sterling defensive reputation.

2. Davie McLintock (DL/C), 22, Lylia Foresters

"Wee Davie" is, indeed, the smallest member of the Weegie side, although since the average Weegie is over six feet, this still means he's fairly tall. Davie's contributed well to Lylia's fortunes, and his ability to run well with the ball and tackle clinically means his role in an attacking Weegie side is welcomed. However, some question this choice, since it was an off-form performance from McLintock that fans claim led to the 2-1 loss to Easter House Islanders - which led to Mackintosh Thistle Celtic winning the, even though the Foresters had been leading the league for most of the season. He's redeemed himself since then, but many wonder - can he handle the pressure, when it gets right down to it?

3. Andrew Haldair (capt.) (DC), 27, Mackintosh Thistle Celtic

If Robertson is the foundation of the River Jags' defensive reputation, Haldair is the building that is set upon it. Deeply committed to his side, Haldair has a reputation for taking down his opponents with a brutal efficiency in the very physical Weegie game. He has a great influence on the other players, with his committedness filtering to the rest of the players. Some people point out that the Weegie game, in general, has always been a lot more physical than the world game, and Weegie referees have always been willing to overlook a lot more than other nations, although very strict about "non-violent" offenses. Haldair will have to temper his aggression, then, if he's not to spend too much time on suspension.

4. Paul McKail (DC/R), 21, Buchanan L.F.C.

McKail's always had a good head on him, and his cool, dispassionate style of defending provides a marked contrast to Haldair's fiery, passionate style. There's been more than a few Weegie strikers who have run for a couple of yards without realising McKail's already taken the ball away from them. He might do the same in the World Cup, but it's likely he could be a candidate for substitution many a time - he's not got the greatest of stamina of footballers, and by 70 minutes his panache and style has gone down considerably.

5. Owen Pialteir (DR), 23, Carlsson Rangers

Pialteir's inclusion is a welcome surprise, since his name is one of those that only comes up as an afterthought when you're talking about full-backs, unlike the personality-filled Tomasson of Trams Union United or the flawed but superior defending of Wilton Harris of the Bearsden Pandas, although uncharitable people say this is because most people don't know how to pronounce "Pialteir" (It's "pe-YAL-ter", for those who don't). Pialteir works in the background, mostly, only coming out when necessary, but when he does, he makes the crucial intervention or the crucial pass that makes the game, then sinks back into the shadows. There's a reason Carlsson have lasted in the WeePrem, and it's Pialteir.

6. Daniel Mathieson (AML), 27, Trams Union United

Mathieson takes no prisoners as a winger. He's up there delivering the crosses, he's back there facing down an opposing side's winger. He's fast, he's smart, he's very talented, and on a good day, in the Weegies, he's unstoppable, a real workhorse for the side. Mathieson is the player to watch in the Weegie side, although his tendency to collect yellow cards through various infractions may be a slight problem, as well as the fact that he likes to rile up members of the opposing sides - as was memorably noted when James Caldwell of Hanover Town, also in the squad, punched him in the face during their match, being sent off because of it. (Trams Union United ended up beating Hanover 3-1)

7. Sandy Williamson (DMC), 19, Mackintosh Thistle Celtic

Sandy's inclusion makes it a return to Weegie sides of yore, when the position of "holding midfielder" was important, to keep a defensive backing whilst there was a push for goal, to try and prevent counter-attacks and nip attacks from the opposing side. Williamson's a good choice, too, since he's got a great view of how the game is going, being able to spot open players on both sides, and has a mean tackle on him. However, some quick strikers may just find it easy to run rings around him, provided they can get past the man's right foot.

8. Liam Mackie (dept. capt.) (MC/R), 24, Buchanan L.F.C.

Mackie is a solid together sort, and although not as charismatic and committed as Haldain, still manages to hold the disparate members of the midfield together, which is why he takes the captain's armband when Haldain is not available. Whilst not exactly an attacking midfielder, which is technically the way old-style Weegie midfields worked in conjunction with the holding midfielder and the attacking wingers, he has shown himself to be a good attacker in the league, and so it's probable that he will pull off the same solid attacking that he has in Buchanan. Not the most skillful of players, though

9. Cameron Ochens (AML/R), 28, Mackintosh Armadillos

The Weegies have good wingers. They rely on good wingers. They always have. If the supply of good wingers were to dry up, the Weegie football side would be completely up the creek. Luckily, they're still churning them out, as can be seen in Ochens. Although, of course, eclipsed by Mathieson, Ochens is an excellent winger in his own right, and it's a shame he's in a team on the decline such as the Armadillos, who haven't been the same power since the late 80's. The occassional hamstring injury seems to plague him, suggesting something that might hurt a career down the line, but Ochens still remains a decent bet for the Weegie side.

10. Robert Sheridan (SC), 21, Lylia Foresters

Sheridan's not the most prolific of scorers - his prefered strategy is to let them rip from afar, his spectacular long shots and set pieces arcing toward the goal, although those don't hit as often as you'd like them to, really. But he's good at assisting goals, and creating setups, and diverting the attention of the goalkeeper from the real threat that's coming up past some other defenders. He's a cunning one, then, and he knows the last third of a pitch like the back of his hand. His only problem, like a few Weegie players, is that unfortunate tendency to go off on one and get himself booked or sent off, although also sometimes his performances have also been a little erratic.

11. Tommy Failchs (FC/R), 17, Trams Union United

Failchs again shows that the Weegies can't entirely tear themselves away from youth. This World Cup's "Weegie prodigy" has been a goal machine for the Union, scoring 21 out of 67 goals last season, joint highest with Scott of Lylia Foresters. He knows where to place himself to test the goalkeeper to their limit, and most of his goals have been from headers or in the box. At close range, then, he's very deadly. For a big man, though, he's somewhat slight and frail compared to others - although his reliance on skill rather than brute force may give him a bonus in more skilful climes such as the World Cup.

12. Freddy Keildie (GK), 24, Carlsson Rangers

Keildie was excellent when Carlsson Rangers led the way in the early stages of the 04/05 season, but he tired quickly and Carlsson sank accordingly, although they still performed well. Good reflexes, but some question his tendency to run out to the ball.

13. Mark McDonald (DL/C/R), 18, Easter House Islanders

Good, solid defender for the Furthest Islanders, but many question his effectiveness at his level, and focus upon his very young age.

14. James Caldwell (DL), 20, Hanover Town

There is a reason he's known as "Psycho Caldie". Although an able tackler, a large number of cards mean he's essentally a timebomb waiting to go off.

15. Keith Anderson (DC), 22, Mackintosh Thistle Celtic

There's always one person you think "why are they in the squad?". Anderson is that man. Totally, completely, unremarkable in every way. Many people think Haldair carries him in the River Jags side.

16. Lars McCowell (DC), 27, Buchanan L.F.C.

Lars is an amiable sort, which isn't the best temperament for a defender. Takes his time to get into a fracas, although he is very able to bully someone off the ball and clear it well.

17. Jack Pindie (DMC/L), 34, Trams Union United

Once the squad was mentioned, one question was on everybody's lips: "Is Pindie too old?" For a nation known for relying on youth, some wonder if Persson's gone too far the other way. But Pindie is an excellent holding midfielder, if not as quick as he once was.

18. Eric McConnell (AMC), 21, Mackintosh Thistle Celtic

Fast and dangerous, McConnell's ability to get through a defensive wall is well known. However, that's in the River Jags' 4-3-1-2 formation, and he's normally right behind the strikers. Does he fit in the 4-4-2 formation?

19. Aidan McFeld (AMR), 28, Cialtag Rovers

The two Rovers wingers are both in the reserves of the squad, and with good reason. They're both excellent crossers, have a good turn of speed on them, and can hold their own in a battle with a defender. But they're just not as good as Mathieson and Ochies.

20. Frank Fields (AML), 21, Cialtag Rovers

The exact same applies to "Fieldy" as to "Feldy", above. Of course.

21. Andy Sarelch (SC), 32, Teighan Fiealdains

Sarelch is the only other over-30 in the squad, and it must be said he's still in the peak of condition. Unfortunately, that condition has always had the quality of being on the operating table for months.

22. Iain McCall (FLC), 19, Buchanan L.F.C.

McCall's problem in the squad is the same, but worse, as McConnell's. Not only does he not fit in the national team setup that well, but neither does he in his own teams side. He's had a lack of games, and although he's defintely a gifted player, it's going to waste.

Hypocria

Hypocria - World Cup 26 Squad

The Staff

Head Coach - Dave Wilson, 67
The legendary former coach of Sarzonia who lead the Stars to a third place finish (WC23), a second place finish (WC24) and a World Cup win at WC22. It was widely believed that Wilson intended to retire after World Cup 24 but instead he opted to take up a new challenge in Hypocria. After a decent run in the last qualification campaign Wilson lead the Hyppos to the title at the regional AOCAF tournament in Bettia.

Assistant Coach - Chris Trautwig, 59
Wilson’s assistant in the last two qualifying campaigns and formally coach of the Woodstock Wild and Sarzonia’s AOCAF side. He joined the Hyppos coaching staff after losing out on the Sarzonia vacancy to Barry Owens after World Cup 24.

Assistant Coach - Gregory Vidal, 43
A long-time member of the national team setup who acted as assistant coach to Guylain N’Dumbu-Nsungu before taking over as co-caretaker coach, along with Michael De Winter, following Guylain’s sacking. Vidal was in joint charge during the AOCAF tournament in Fmjphoenix and Cup of Harmony 16 but dropped back to the assistant coach role after Wilson’s appointment.

The Players

Goalkeepers

1. Ricardo Kindelan (36, GK, 78 caps) - Pylos Reavers
He’s been the nation’s top goalkeeper for years and even though he’s firmly in veteran status Kindelan still wears the number one shirt.

13. Alex Derevko (32, GK, 15 caps) - Hypocrium City
He may be first choice goalkeeper at the Hyper League champions but Derevko is definitely the national side’s second choice. All but one of Derevko’s caps have come in Cup of Harmony tournaments.

24. Stephen Drakes (27, GK, 0 caps) - Dynamo Rasium
Former Under-21 international who has yet to make the break through into the senior squad.

Defence

2. Chris Golla (30, D/DMR, 45 caps, 1 goal) - Hypocrium City
Golla debuted for the Hyppos at the age of 18 and has clocked up plenty of appearances since. He’s not always first choice but Golla provides an experienced option at right back.

3. Ricky Poskas (32, D/DML, 65 caps, 2 goals) - Hypocrium City
A consistent performer for the Hyppos since their arrival on the world stage. Ricky is prone to neglecting his defensive duties in favour of darting runs down the left flank.

5. Sergey Kreska (31, DC, 30 caps, 3 goals) - Partizan Drissa
The former U21 international had to wait a long time for his senior debut but since then he has become a regular feature in the side. The big centreback is a real threat from set pieces.

6. Marius Black (29, DRC, 38 caps) - Partizan Drissa
A temperamental defender who graduated from the Under-21 programme. Black has established himself in the senior side but question marks over his temper may see him dropped in favour of someone a bit calmer.

12. Maelog Mumtazi (27, DL, 13 caps) - Pylos Reavers
Mumtazi is Bettian by birth but has been granted Hypocrian citizenship after playing in the Hyper League for a number of years. He will challenge Poskas for the left back berth.

14. Karl Nalepka (34, DC, 23 caps) - Pylos Reavers
A veteran defender who will add depth to the squad.

16. Bruno Espartaro (19, DLC, 0 caps) - Partizan Drissa
A talented young defender who helped his club side to second place in the Hyper League last season. Able to play at left back or in the centre of defence.

20. Momo Diabang (22, DRC, 23 caps, 1 goal) - Coral City Islanders
A powerful defender who became the first player from the Autocracy’s island colonies to play for the Hyppos. Diabang made the right back berth his own during the last campaign.

Midfield

4. Marcus Baxter (31, DMC, 85 caps, 8 goals) - Sukatra Tigers (Bettia)
Quite simply the best player of his generation. Baxter is the driving force of the side and the midfield playmaker. From his central midfield position he can play long passes down the flanks or beautifully timed through balls to the strikers. He is also a deadball specialist and has hit a number of goals from freekicks. He also scored both goals in the final of the AOCAF. Captains the side.

7. Ashley Marshall (32, AM/FR, 54 caps, 11 goals) - Partizan Drissa
A talented winger who first came to prominence during the Hyppos run to the final of AOCAF 9. Generally plays on the right of midfield but can also be pushed forward as a third striker.

8. Alex Rytter (27, AMC, 29 caps, 3 goals) - Turoki Isle (Vilita)
A hugely talented midfielder who is finally start to live up to the potential he showed earlier in his career. Playing his club football in the Stellar Division has certainly helped.

11. Robert Bercali (26, AML, 50 caps, 9 goals) - Yeaddin Owls (Vilita)
Like Rytter, Bercali is a product of the Kester Town youth system who has since moved to Vilita. The wing wizard had an excellent campaign four years ago, scoring 5 goals in the process.

15. Luc Sinclair (31, DMC, 25 caps) - Partizan Drissa
A midfield enforcer who specialises in breaking up any opposition attack that crosses the halfway line. Sinclair is usually thrown on when the Hyppos are holding onto a lead. As such 15 of his 25 caps have come as a substitute.

17. Carlo Molinari (20, AM/FC, 0 caps) - Dynamo Rasium
A young attacking midfielder who can also play up front. Molinari has already shown his potential with a goal in the recent friendly against Andossa Se Mitrin Vega at the Hyppodrome.

21. Alexei Beria (19, AMRLC, 0 caps) - Hypocrium City
Young and talented midfielder who broke into the Hyper League champion’s first team in the second half of last season.

22. Hayden Jenas (22, MLC, 9 caps, 2 goals) - FC Pydna
Midfielder who debuted at the AOCAF and went on to help the Hyppos to the title, scoring against Pastorville in the group stage and Krytenia in the semi final.

Attack

9. Andrei Shirko (36, SC, 72 caps, 30 goals) - Hypocrium City
The veteran striker may no longer by first choice but with 30 international goals to his name he could well be called upon when the going gets tough.

10. Ashley Deucher (29, SC, 13 caps, 6 goals) - FC Hypocrium
Former Under-21 international who has gradually fought his way to the top of the national team’s strikers. Scored twice in the last campaign and added another 3 goals at the Cup of Harmony.

18. Danny West (30, SC, 36 caps, 15 goals) - Sporting Mayo (Spruitland)
The national side’s resident heart throb. A striker whose selfish attitude has cost him his place in the side on more than one occasion. When he does get the chance to shine West is probably the best finisher in the squad.

19. James Eagles (24, SC, 3 caps, 1 goal) - Hypocrium City
Another player who debuted at the recent AOCAF. Eagles added the final goal in the 5 - 1 rout of Pastorville.

23. Victor Blanco (25, SC, 0 caps) - Bronkstone FC (Nedalia)
Another product of the Under-21 system. Blanco seemed to drop off the radar in recent years but has exploded back into the scene after an excellent season in the Nedalian Premier League.

Apologetic Kittens
08-01-2006, 14:14
Fresh from a third-placed finish in the BoF (That counts an achievement, right? - Not official message of Apologetic Kittens government) is the squad that shall try and gain entry to the world cup proper.

They'll be playing their usual 4-1-2-1-2 formation, or a 0.

Head Coach:
Woodrow Moore: 58: A tactical genius, but prone to slightly irrational decisions on occasion. Keeping his job after a coaching a wonderful start to international football.

Goalkeepers:
Darren Alington: 28: 9 caps: First choice goalkeeper and solid between the sticks. Just have to hope no matches in the later rounds go to penalties.
Ronnie "Wets the bed" Weeter: 19: 1 cap: Matured since the BoF, but still not really pushing Alington for the first choice spot.
Harry Kanaga: 17: The son of Horace, who never got a game in the BoF.

Right Backs:
Claude Millhouse: 26: 9 caps: Solid at the back, showed injuries worries were not a problem last time he was out.
Elroy Polson: 32: 3 caps: Still has power in his legs. Getting on a bit hasn't stopped the 6'6" monstrosity from winning headers.

Left Backs:
Jamel Wynter: 21: 9 caps: Quick and agile, he's been known to be light on the tackle, but should cause problems aplenty for any wingers looking to run in.
Roland Campbell: 33: 3 caps: Another example of the aged rustiness which is behind the first XI.

Centre Backs:
Eldon Kiefer: 34: 9 caps, 1 goal: The only non-striker in the AK team to score in the BoF.
Herbert Reed: 33: 9 caps: The other half of a powerful central defence. They might not be as quick as they once were, but they're still strong.
Lester Ashmore: 27: 4 caps: Has impressed lately, and will be fighting hard for a place.

Defensive Midfielders:
Lee Roberts: Captain: 27: 10 caps, 1 goal: The heart of the squad, he proves himself every game.
Jonathan Unk: 22: 1 cap: With Roberts in the team he may not get a chance to play. But he's a top player, showing why this is the strongest area of the AP squad.

Right Wingers:
Ernest Newman: 31: 8 caps, 1 goal: Not as young as he once was, but precision passing and a cross you can always count on, his place is assured in the team.
Alphonso Chase: 20: 4 caps: Young and fast. That sums Alphonso up accurately. Blasts past the opposition.

Left Wingers:
Raul Chase: 22: 9 caps: Similar to his brother, but better. He puts the opposition to the sword.
Darrell Schofield: 25: 3 caps: Not much to say about him, really. He gets the job done with hard work.

Attacking Midfielders:
Enrique Monroe: 21: 7 caps: He pushes past everything in his way, but a tendency to get carried away with tricks may cost him. Still first choice despite actions in the semis of the BoF.
Anton "Ant" Aultman: 19: 4 caps: At 5'6" he is known for turning up where you least expect him.

Strikers:
Winfred "Iron Boot" Ironmonger: 32: 9 caps, 5 goals: A powerful striker with a shot that could put someone in hospital. Unfortunately that person is often several rows back in the crowd.
Dewey Gronko: 22: 9 caps, 5 goals: Fast and energetic he perfectly compliments IronMongers power.
Jerome Moore: 24: 4 caps: The compliment to Iron Boot at their club, he is second-placed to Gronko here.
David Leichter: 29: 3 caps: An average striker, neiother having the pace of Gronko nor the power of Iron Boot. However he is competent and always puts in a top effort.

Home matches are to be played in the 47,000 Talstod Arena.

Qutar Sports News Network

Today in press conference called by the QFA, they announced their successful entry into the qualifiers of the World Cup. This will be Qutar's first international football competition, and as such the manager appointed at the helm of the National Team will be Paul Dove, the manager that lead Arun City to 9 consecutive Secret Haven Championship Cups, and 12 straight wins in the Qutar Premier League back in the period from 1984-1996. A great manager who has come out of retirement to lead his national side. In a statement he said that he would be proud to lead the national side, and be a representative for our nation on the world stage. When asked about the fact that the team he had picked, was a very youthful side, he responded by saying that although the side was on the younger side, that his team was full of energy and most have had the experience of at least two leagues in the Premier League, I know that their lack of experience will be made up by their energy on the pitch.
It seems the bulk of the team has been chosen from Cëre United and Bembridge FC, who came 1st and 2nd respectively in the league last season, and are fighting out a hard season at the moment. Most pundits will be thank full that Paul Dove doesn't mind the youth full side of football, thanks to his inclusion of the amazing young talent of William Lemkes, and only 17 this young man is one of the few in the country that can take on the likes of James Thomas and James Lemkes. Also pundits are looking forward to seeing a partnership between Ali and James Thomas, one respected pundit had this to say: "Ever since I have seen these two lads on the pitch with their dazzling skills, skipping past defenders who can only watch, I have wanted to see a partnership between them and now I can finally see them in action"
The QFA is delighted to become part of the world stage of the great sport, and is looking forward to partaking in the World Cup tournament, after their triumph in The Baptism of Fire. For the qualifiers, Paul Dove has said that the following start-up line is very likely.

Starting Line-Up (4-4-2 Formation, Style Modifier::0)
GK :: Peter Stone [1]
DEF :: Nick Saunders [2]
DEF :: Dominic Kelly [3]
DEF :: David Howell [4]
DEF :: William Lemkes [5]
MID :: Sam Tomlin [6]
MID :: Chris Saunders (Capt.) [7]
MID :: John Gordon [8]
MID :: David Parker [15]
ATK :: Ali [10]
ATK :: James Thomas [11]

On the Bench
GK :: Peter Turner [12]
DEF :: Amir Safavi [13]
DEF :: Alex Martin [14]
MID :: Nick Rogers [9]
MID :: Olliver Smith [16]
ATK :: Tom Siese [17]
ATK :: James Lemkes [18]

Pundits Verdict

Peter Stone :: A very safe choice for the first choice goalkeeper, for the past two seasons since his controversial start aged just 16, he has proven himself worthy of wearing the gloves, time after time he has saved Cëre United from defeat with saves that at times are beyond belief. But there have been times when the fans have not been so happy with his performance, but since those times he has come out stronger and better from it.

Nick Saunders :: A good solid choice for leading the defence, has seen four seasons at Bembridge FC, and has been an asset to the club throughout those seasons. He is always putting in the last minute tackles when you'd thought the forward had broken through, helps to push the midfield up, and makes some useful runs down the left wing.

Dominic Kelly :: A very strong defender, very strong in his tackling as well, but not to the extent that he's fouling all of the time although fans of Cëre United might disagree. A good choice for a central defender, and has three seasons of experience with Bembridge FC, works well supporting Nick Saunders and William Lemkes.

David Howell :: A charismatic player, whose defensive abilities make up for the lack of it in his fellow players at Arun City, all to often they have relied on him during the past two seasons, and thanks largely to him they have managed to stave of relegation from the Premier League. Has managed to score a few goals for himself as well during those two seasons. Some have said that 2 years at Arun City is enough to age a man at least 10 years.

William Lemkes :: The third Bembridge FC defender in the opening line-up, this young talent has shone on the pitch, no longer will it be a certainty of strikers like Ali, and James Thomas to slice through the defence. He manages to put up quite a challenge to opposing strikers, he's not afraid to dive into tackles and unfortunately as a result has a higher than average number of yellow cards.

Sam Tomlin :: One of two Bristol City players named in the squad, he has shown great talent on the pitch last and this season, he can pick out a pass with pin-point precision, and get the ball just where the striker wants it, unfortunately the strikers at Bristol City aren't so good at latching onto that. But with the talent of strikers in the national squad his passing service could be incredibly useful

Chris Saunders :: The player with the most experience on the side, which will come in very useful in the games to come having played in seven seasons for Bembridge United, he is a very tactical player and can fill his position in the centre of midfield very well, running back to help in defence if needed and running up to support the strikers. A good choice for Captain.

John Gordon :: The only player in the squad from Ryde United, even though Ryde are a lower-middle table club, he has turned in some good performances in the centre of midfield, a strong player not afraid of going in for the tackle. Can link up very well with other players to build up play.

David Parker :: A bright spark down the right wing of midfield, although inexperienced his talent does show through. Many goals for Bristol City have been set up by a neat cross right into the waiting striker. The Manager had dropped him from the starting line-up for the Baptism of Fire until he cleaned up his act, and was put into the squad after the Bazalonia game.

Ali :: One of the shining talents of Qutari football, ever since on his debut for Cëre United and scoring that wonder goal after dancing past all of the defenders and the goalkeeper, and he has continued on in this fashion worrying defensive line-ups all through the season.

James Thomas :: The other shining talent of Qutari football, an explosive force on the ball, combined with the fact that he can seemingly score from anywhere on the pitch, makes him a presence to be reckoned with. Combined with Ali the partnership should be unstoppable.

[I]Peter Turner :: The number two goalkeeper in the country, but only by a small margin, also a young starter at just 17, a great find by Bembridge FC. For the past couple of seasons with him at the back and the strikeforce the other end, they have been a tough match for Cëre United. Some have said that his skills are underestimated due the fact that he has the best defence in the league protecting him.

Amir Safavi :: The only player from Newport FC, and has fuelled the hopes of its fans that they would be relegated this season. Thanks to his efforts they have managed to halt their descent down the table, a wise transfer during the last transfer window. A solid central defender, with four seasons experience.

Alex Martin :: The second most experienced player on the team with six seasons of experience at Bristol City, not the most bright star of talent in the midfield, but still a talented player who can hold the centre of defence together, and is a strong player.

Nick Rogers :: Another of the Cëre United players in the national team, also the least experienced midfielder on the side, who has shown great talent this season with Cëre United, skipping past defenders in the wing to slip in a well placed cross for the strikers. Was dropped from the squad in favour of the cleaned up Parker after a mediocre performance.

Olliver Smith :: A fan favourite of Cëre United, has set up and scored many goals over the past two seasons, but an injury early on in the season which he is only just getting over, has lost him a starting place in the National Squad.

Tom Siese :: The strike partner of Ali at Cëre United, a very gifted striker, although in his partner's shadow. But his contributions to the partnership gives Cëre United's attack more depth.

James Lemkes :: A very talented striker at Bembridge FC, and a very good friend of his partner, which leads to a very effective strikeforce and they can string together a move to slice through the defence.

Hockey Canadians looking to qualify... again

The Hockey Canada Canucks will be coached by Toe Blake to lead the Canucks to a hopeful qualifying run. The Manager for the team will be old-time player Mark Habsheid.

Goalkeepers:

90- Kyle Thomas [26] (Ousvale Borough) 99 Caps- Great goalie and experienced, he's writing the Hockey Canadian record book. Good choice to be Hockey Canada's first Hall of Fame player.
33- Damien Marx [32] (Kaza x League) 13 Caps- Good goalie to back up Thomas, Marx is just playing at the wrong time. Pity for a great keeper though.
0- Alexi Tarasov [29] (Vancouver FC) 3 Caps- On the rare occasion that Marx cannot furfill his duties as a keeper, Tarasov will step up gratefully.

Defenders:

4- Yanic Perrault [33] (Yakutsk) 90 Caps- 2nd highest scorer only to Kulkarni, Perrault just might make the Hall of Fame one day.
6- Petr Sylanko [41] (Anadyr) 65 Caps- The aging defender has been plagued with injuries but has the heart to continue.
8- John Cormack [39] (Vancouver FC) 36 Caps- Cormack may not be the quickest defender, but his sense of play makes him a dangerous threat to other teams.
10- Timmy "Timmah!" Johnson [37] ("Special" Care Centre) 52 Caps- He's "Special" off the field, but really "Special" on the field.
12- Kenny McKormick [37] (Revuocnav) 52 Caps- He's poor showing and underbelly of Hockey Canada. But his playing skills make him top-notch.
14- Evgeni Zimin [38] (Federal District) 42 Caps- A small and quick defender who isn't afraid to scrap up the field.
16- Leopold "Butters" Scotch [33] (Irkutsk) 56 Caps- He's got talent, but just afraid to use it in most games.
17- Tommy Hydulov [28] (Vancouver) 5 Caps- The rookie has big things expected.
20- Wladislav Shvlidky [36] (Anadyr) 7 Caps- Injuries have kept Shvlidky out of the lineup, maybe he'll be lucky.
22- Clyde Dunatek [36] (Yarensk) 6 Caps- Dunatek is in his prime right now, but without reacing his full potential he'll be a benchwarmer.

Midfielders:

3- Rahul Kulkarni [31] (Dionte City) 83 Caps- Highest scoring player in Hockey Canadian history, Kulkarni can score the big or small goal in any game.
5- Ike Broflovski [27] (Aigburth Athletic FC) 63 Caps- The young Broflovski knows how to play and play well.
7- Trent Tyvlov [40] (Federal District) 5 Caps- He's old, but one last try at qualifying will be gratifying for him.
9- Tyrone O'Dyliile [34] (Vancouver FC) 6 Caps- Immigrant from wherever, O'Dyliile has a monster kick.

Strikers:

13- Mike Ko [29] (Irkutsk) 80 Caps- 3rd on Hockey Canadian all-time scoring, Ko and give a KO to any team.
29- Syku Kansu [20] (Yakutsk) 5 Caps- Future Star for Hockey Canada. As for now he'll be starring on the sidelines.

Hockey Canada will play a 7-2-1 formation.

Milchama announces roster

The Milchamian co-coaches of Jaime Smith and Patrice Thibault have announced their roster today and to the suprise of no one it was loaded with old U21 players. Coach Thibault said, "We believe we have some real good talent and we want to use it accordingly."
Despite the foreigners coaching Milchama will still play their standard 3-3-4 +2 please.

GK: Tuck Koolerc- Still the best goalie in Milchama but has been challenged by Clay Finton and wants to prove that he is still the best.
D: Kyoga Marcazumi- AOCAF starter. Normally a central defender but because of his mobility was moved to wing back for the WC. Plays for Great Alexandria.
D: Kendric Pevington- Not flashy but a very good central defender. Does not have the speed to play wing back so is in the center again.
D: Mills Thompson- Tall and good in the air. His headers will help on both offense and defense.
M: Elana Kilinin- The breakout star of the last WC squad. She will again be relied upon to get a spark in the offense. Some good play and she might stick as a player.
M:Antoine Sanchez- AOCAF Starter. Great dribbler, good passer a perfect central midfielder. Put in the squad to try to connect the strikers with the defenders.
M:Darian Flinters- Very fast and a good shooter. Will be a major part of the offense. His wing play with Kilinin will be key for the Milchmian offense.
F:Dunston Copperlee (captain)- Best soccer player Milchama has ever produced so far. Will be expected to do everything. Had a dissapointing CoH and wants to show that he deserves to be captain.
F: Spot Nielson- With Thibault's more counter attacking approach to the 3-3-4 he wanted someone who was real good on the ball in central attack. Nielson fit the bill perfectly and is a starter because of it.
Marc J. Floren- Best Goalscorer in Milchamian history. All time leading goalscorer in MFL history and the leading goalscorer in both World Cup qualifying and the CoH for the Warriors. Will probably be his last world cup campaign and wants to go out actually getting to the main event.
F: J.J. Faren- A great crosser and a good goalscorer. Had a dissapointing WC campaign last time around and probably needs a good start to not be replaced by Aaron Kary.
Subs:
F: Floren Albentine- AOCAF starter. Great natural scorer. Called by many in Milchama the next Floren. Has a very bright future ahead of him. This cup's version of Spot Nielson, on the squad mostly for experience.
GK: Clay Finton- AOCAF Starter. His great play in the AOCAF (two shutouts) knocked Marcos Ollins off the squad.
M: Johnny Rintell- Knocked out of starting lineup by new coaching staff. Wants to get his starting place back.
F: Matt Bantin- Another starter pushed to the bench because of the new coaching regime. Thinks he might be better than Floren if he got the chance and wants to show the world that he is.
M/F: Bobby Martin- His good play in the AOCL caused him to be the only sub called back from last cup. Wants to outperform teammate Clyde Misterson.
D: Silas Milckey- The rock at the back for the last two cups was put on the bench by the new coaching regime. Believes starters job was his and wants to get it back.

Reserves:
GK: Marcos Ollins
D: Mariosz Florfenord
M: Chuck Farenstein
M: Doni Kunalin
F: Zar Johnson
F: Aaron Kary
D: Kent Littner

Wentland
10-01-2006, 23:11
The media waited expectantly for Edgar Bluff to announce the Wentland World Cup squad. The frenzied hacks were slavering at the thought of an exclusive when assistant boss Charles "Charlie" Charles popped his head around the Press Room door and said "er, sorry, lads, it's the same as the Baptism of Fire squad" and ran off before anyone could stop him.

1 Jack Edmunds - goalie, 34, Warpstone.

2 Ron Fletcher - right back, 25, Donington Wanderers

3 Don Fletcher - left back, 25, Donington Wanderers

4 Benny Jones - centre-half, 26, Gt Bellstead

5 Gus Jenkins - centre-half, 26, Gt Bellstead

6 Harry Ollis - midfield, 25, Warpstone

7 Will James - right wing, 27, Donington Wanderers

8 Francis Treves - centre-forward, 17, Alumgreen

9 Billy Morgan - centre-forward, 31, Warpstone

10 Joe Weston - midfield, 21, Royal Heath

11 Tom Devey - left-wing, 20, Royal Heath

12 Francis Derrington – goalie, 24, Royal Heath

13 Bob Henton – right-back, 35, Awkswell Road

14 Alec Harris – left-back, 22, Downham

15 Bill Grosvenor – centre-half, 29, Warpstone

16 Gordon Corbett – centre-half, 22, Donington

17 Sam Barton – centre-midfield, 27, Gt Bellstead

18 Stan Bailey – centre-midfield, 30, Downham

19 Roy Ferris – right-wing, 24, Southfield

20 Ken Davies – left-wing, 23, Warpstone

21 Ian Thwaites – centre-forward, 26, Warpstone

22 Martin Smith – centre-forward, 20, Royal Heath

23 Ben Tewkesbury – goalie, 27, Donington

Just as the masses were leaving, Bluff yelled from his office. "We're gonna go more attacking than in the BoF", he said, in a voice that suggested plus 1 was not out of the question. "Lack of goals let us down so we might try the odd 4-3-3."

Johnathan Raksi (DLC): A very young left-back who's shot up through the choice rankings after showing excellent performances in training. Replaced Frederick Byers, who's had a very bad international career so far
Elliot Dunkel (ML/AML): A top winger, he's proved vital to Verres before internationally and domestically. He'll be one to watch
Tedd Verres (SC): The top goalscorer and the best striker Rolatia have, he's already scored an impressive four goals in just five games
Oliver Morgan (SC): The young star of the team. He's one to watch this tournament.

"Apparently, we never announced our new formation," said Manni Aka, coach of the Kazoo national soccer team. "We intended to announce a 3-5-2 formation, but apparently we never got around to it. So, we're announcing it now."

[[OOC: I just had mid-term exams, completely cutting down time availible for NS. I am very sorry about all of this, and I was wondering if my new +1 modifier would count for anything... If not, please say so. I just want to make sure I have it right.]]

Manni Aka, this time from a spot approximately 25 feet off of the ground, with huge 28907240-watt speakers on either side, announced his change from a 4-4-2 formation to a 3-5-2 formation, moving Hermville into the lineup.

Local crazy person Donald McRonald had only one word when asked about the move: "bump." We really don't know what that means, except we know that Donald McRonald doesn't make any sense. He's crazy, for pete's sake!

That is all.

Formation for next match announced.

Coach Dupper, after careful examination of the circumstances has announced that for the match between White Shirts and Schiavonia, we will use the 5-4-1 defensive style. Coach Dupper stated "We examined the two games that Schiavonia have been in and noted that the defensive style led to their defeat, while an attacking style did not. We feel that the best defense is a good defense.

The following will participate in the match

G: 1
D: 4, 5, 6, 9, 10
M: 14, 15, 16, 17
F: 20

"We hope this formation will work for the White Shirts

With just over half of the World Cup 25 Pschychoes retiring, This team will be called upon to prove that it can play at the level it did before. With only three of 11 starters returning, The midfield and defense may be vulnerable areas, as inexperienced players will be called upon to start. Hopefully, the teams elder statesman Franz Persson, and maturing talent Mostafa Ogbadan will be able to keep the goals coming. The Pschychoes will look to them for most of our goals. We will also lean heavily on the performance of outstanding goalkeeper Jorge Fernandina, as he is the only one remaining with ny international experience at all.

Squornshelous will play in their classic 4-1-2-1-2 formation once again.
Usual Starters:

Persson
Ogbadan

Markanen

Nesfield Syvatov
