F1GP Season 2 Signups

Casari
29-12-2005, 08:38
After a moderately successful first season which did not see the competition forgotten about right in the middle, The F1GP series is back for another time around, with a few little changes.

New Rules!
Gone is the adherance to the restrictive FIA regulations! Relish in 5 liter piston engines of any configuration and 3 liter rotaries! Want to try a gas turbine? Go right ahead! Ditch those ugly wings and return to the nice single wings of old!
If you don't know what I'm talking about at all, you can mostly ignore this part.

A Rebuilt Scorinator!
A new formula changes the way track-based advantages are delt! A new system gives 20 points to spread between Aerodynamics, Cornering, and Reliability with a max of 10 in each!

A New, Enthusiastic Attitude!
Is an explination really necessary?

Same Kinda-Boring Racing Action!
Yup. It won't be much different.

New RP bonuses!
RP bonus is different this time around- a smaller bonus for a smaller RP, a bigger bonus for a quality RP.

Possible Formula 2 series if enough people sign up!
That's right. If necessary, we'll run a magical Formula 2 Series for some of the newer folks with a Sprint and a Feature Race on Day 1 and Day 2 of the weekend. The winners of each will magically have their cars transformed to F1 Spec and added on the back of the Grid! Then again, we have to have people actually interested enough to join.

Either way, Signups are being accepted for teams (Only one per nation, and puppets are slightly frowned upon), Drivers for the Driver pool, and Grand Prixs. You don't even have to have a team to put Drivers in the pool or Bid for a Grand Prix.

For Teams, you have to take the 20 points allowed and seperate them between Aerodynamics, Cornering, and Reliability. Aero helps you on the fast tracks, Cornering on the twisty tracks, and Reliability helps you finish the race. Maximum 10 in each.

Drivers, you can throw out a name. If interested, teams from other nations can pick up the drivers you have on the list. If you're not interested, make up your own.

For Grand Prixs, you need a track. Draw one yourself, or rip one off. eTracks (http://www.etracksonline.co.uk/) tends to have a rather solid database of tracks with simple diagrams. A picture does help, as does a record lap, the length of the track, and any other cool info. When you submit, you can specify how much the track will rely on Aero or Cornering, or leave it to us to figure out. No Ovals Please

Numbers will be issued to all teams. If returning, based on their finishing position. If new, by signup order.

Uhm, search is not working for me right now, so I'll sign up exactly as last season; doubling my team's points in each category (such that they meet 20). Track's the same as well.

Championship-winning Team Rolatia will enter championship winner Thomas Ragji, secondary driver William Sralt and test driver Nick Fasre again in a 7-7-6 points allocation. If it isn't broke...
(BTW, what are we using regarding last season's rankings and bonus related to that? I'd hate to see all my hard work last season go to waste ;))

F1GP Runner Up Twin Crescent Racing will again participate. The foundation of success is consitency, and so the drivers will remain as those from last season - Scott LeCroix, James KeFlinger, and Steven Sloan. Last year's configuration will be scaled and adapted to the current requirements.

Car design is underway.

OOCness: I can use the singlewing from last season? The cdg wing was starting to grow on me...

IC EDIT 1:

The Candrian SAEB has approved the bid for two tracks to attempt to participate in the next F1GP championship:

Mt. Melanis Raceway (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/Gizeh/MtMelanisRaceway.png) - 6.1 km, lap record unrecorded. 61 laps suggested

The Commonwealth of Istanil would like to start a "F1GP race team", as studys have shown that employees work better if they have an "entertainment break" during work hours.

We have a fully prepared team with 2 drivers availaible, as well as plans for a possible Grand Prix location.

Team name: IGPA-1 (Istanili Grand Prix Assiocation-1)
Point Allocation: Aerodynamics 8, Cornering 6, Reliablity 6

Driver Names:
Alexander Richardson (Main Driver of the team)
David Smith (Back-up driver)

Track:

Named: Tour de Istanil (We istanili are very creative namers [/sarcasm])
Image: http://www.etracksonline.co.uk/Europe/aalenelchingen_map.gif
Length: 5km, 65 laps suggested
Lab record is TBA (I dunno have fast the average F1GP vehicle goes)
I suggest that the track would be mostly aero, but with cornerning counting for some also.

{OOC NOTE: You may be confused by the employees comment, but it makes sense given the fact that my country is rather overtly run by a few mega corporations.}

Rumors are about that Subaru would be pulling support for the Republic's effort in F1GP after lack luster results with its drivers that have resulted in few points and a very low position in the Manufacturers Cup. However Subaru is ready to strike back with a new driver lineup Rob Vernon and Joey Adgie the former President of Wrecker, relegateing Derek Lagasse and Evan Dalomba to test drivers for the new season.

On a similar note,
we would also like to expand upon our F1GP race at Lime Rock Park by useing the newly completed Mountain Endurance/GrandPrix extention to the track, located in North Knuckle, Northern Territory, The Republic.

NICK FASRE: "I WANT FULL F1"
In a shock move, Nick Fasre - Rolatian-born test driver for Team Rolatia, last year's constructor's championship winners - has today declared that he wants to take a job with a team that are willing to offer him a place in the main two drivers. The Rolatian, famed in his home country for his five back-to-back Formula 1 championships in 1988-1992, has declared "Rolatia has provided me with a good job, but I'm sick of the lack of competition. I desperately want to show my worth on a proper international stage, and when I'm only racing in the practice stages - which cannot show ability well - I can't do that.". Team Rolatia have authorized him to leave to any team willing to sign him. It is rumoured he wants at least $50,000 a year - up from his current wage of $40,000.

(OOC: He's already got a biography - if you want I could dig it up for you. You can do what you want with him, just don't completely cripple or kill him)

Rivette Wants 'Prestige' Of F1 Triumph

TURATH, MONDAY - Rivette MI Corporation - supergiant of both the Iluvauromeni motoring and aerospace industries and the only major Iluvauromeni economic asset that remains independent of the Imperial Trade Conglomerate - announced Monday that it plans to enter three cars into the F1GP competition.

"It's a matter of pride and prestige," Rivette spokesman Ilur Debretta-Rihad observed when questioned. "The Commonality has very little in the sporting department, and we intend to help bring about a change in that unfortunate situation."

Rivette have apparently already designed and built several prototype models at their top-secret test facility at Aljehm, near the ITC-owned Tur Vidoro racing circuit. Tur Vidoro is also apparently in the running to host it's first Grand Prix this year, much to the jubilation of many motor racing fans in the Commonality.

"I'd be delighted," gushed twenty-year career driver Ixir Alsahm-Menjda. "Just so long as those bloody Nenyar can't compete."

Rivette is yet to announce it's chosen driving lineup should it secure a franchise, but it is expected to be all or almost all-Iluvauromeni, despite the lack of internationally recognized competition in the Commonality itself...

~ source: Iluvauromeni Sports+ sporting ezine

[OOC: Unless it's not allowed, Rivette would like to run three cars of varied configuration.

Car 1:

Aero: 6
Crnr: 8
Rel: 6

Car 2:

Aero: 6
Crnr: 6
Rel: 8

Car 3:

Aero: 8
Crnr: 6
Rel: 6

If multiple setups aren't allowed, then car 2 would be the preferred option.

Also, all cars would use the Iluvauromeni batterypack drive system (which is based in room-temperature superconductive technologies, admittedly), rather than fossil-fuel combustion drive. Performance is, for the purposes of this, obviously equal to an identical vehicle with a combustion engine. This is basically because ICly nobody in my nation would even think about driving a car which used a combustion engine; they'd consider it distasteful at best. A tank, maybe, but not a car. ;)

Again, if that's not okay, then I'll just use a combustion engine anyhow, but really it's just 'flavour' (rather than attempting to seek an advantage) so hopefully that's fine. :)

Err, almost forgot. Anyone based their track on Brands Hatch? If not, I'll just use that, with some renaming. It looks about right for the countryside I'm thinking of, and since I'm new to sports RP, best to, err, you know. Keep it simple. :)]

Rivette Announce Drivers For No. 2 and 3 Cars

TURATH, FRIDAY - Rivette MI announced Friday that it's no2 and no3 cars will be driven by Iluvauromeni natives Squadron Commander Silit Dejure-Rihad and Wing Commander Alsahm ux-Rihad. Both are current Crown Air Force pilots on rotational stand-down; Silit Dejure-Rihad is a widely-known racer in the Commonality, having scooped several of the 'major' prizes in recent years.

Alsahm ux-Rihad is a complete unknown in racing circles, but is understood to be one of the most well-respected flyers currently serving in the Crown Air Force.

It seems likely that Rivette intends to apply fighter-pilot reflexes to it's vehicles, although it is not entirely certain whether or not this approach is completely rational, say several leading experts in motor sports from the Turath/Tek University Institute for Sport Related Studies...

Tur Vidoro In Consideration for F1 Grand Prix Meet

TUR VIDORO, FRIDAY - The Tur Vidoro Racing Co-operative revealed Friday that it expects to announce in the near future that it will indeed be the chosen site for the planned Iluvauromeni Grand Prix.

Tur Vidoro - a Dth'garic phrase literally translatable as 'beautiful speed' - is a track with a proud racing history. The track was built in 1927c.e., by reclusive billionaire Alisari ux-Rihad, a Nenya avionics magnate. Alisari later went on to form Tektronics Inc., which flopped dramatically in the latter half of the century with the arrival of current all-conquering avionics corporation Rivette MI.

Tur Vidoro has undergone several major alterations down the years, the most notable being the addition in 1952c.e. of...

Ellyssio Merendez holds out on DPL contract renewal, asks for F1 seat
DPL Runner-up contract expired, CCT can't sign new contract

Ellyssio Merendez, two year driver in the DPL under the Candrian Consolidated banner, has held out of a contract renewal offered by his team. His previous contract; a one year deal with a one year option worth 3.65 million fl, expired at the end of the season; a break out year for him where he single handedly got his team up from midpack to top tier contenders, poor driving of teammate notwithstanding. His run to the top was only eclipsed by the results both GMD drivers acheived. Ellyssio has been quoted as saying that he wants an F1 seat, regardless of where he goes. His agent has said that he could contend at the top of the racing world, and cited his results in DPS as proof.

In 2 years racing, Ellyssio has gained final standings of 8th and 2nd, while his teammates have done no better than 14th.

Somewhere in the sprawling metropolis that is Crowhurst, residents had been complaining about odd noises. Strange smells. Things going bump.

Originally they called in The Ghostbusters, but when the residents realized that they were not paranormal investigators but a ska-punk group that had just had a minor hit with "Uniform Slave", they decided to host an impromptu pop festival instead with half-a-dozen local bands invited.

Whilst the plebeians were being distracted by the 140 decibel racket of the Mini-Festival of Loaph, a garage sneakily opened its doors and released a missile of purest royal blue.

No-one noticed. Only when the dying strains of Shatner's Bassoon faded into the sunrise of the next dawn did people spy black streaks along a road. A whiff of burnt rubber. Methanol.

All traceable to John Jordan's garage.

"Oh, just something I've been working on for a year or so," said the mechanic, who had connections in the motor racing world through Formula 3 champion Roger Stoddard, to the Shade of Kenteith. "Roger's been dying to have a crack at the big boys and with kid brother Scott beginning to make a name for himself I thought it worth tuning one up a little."

"What's the powerplant?" asked Teethy.

"Just a bog-standard turbo W12 format thingy, you know, bolted together the Formula 3 V6s and breathed on them."

"And what do you call the ensemble?"

"The Stellar. May as well aim high."

"Is this a running project?"

"Oh yes. We've submitted an entry to take Wentland into Formula 1. Roger's agreed to drive the number one car and Bob Turner will take the back-up, he's no slouch as you know, touring car champ. We've concentrated on reliability, putting 10 points into it, may as well walk before you can run.

"There do seem to be quite a few twisty circuits, so we've given a 6 point emphasis on handling. The remainder on speed. We may be embarrassed after our first season, but let’s then see what we can do.”

TEAM ROLATIA UNVEAL NEW CAR
http://img489.imageshack.us/img489/6332/trragjisralt31223pt.png
The new Rolatian car was unvealed today and will start a series of traditions in car naming and manfacture. The car has been named the Ragji-Sralt 312-2 - Ragji-Sralt after the historic duo of last season, 312 for the model number and the 2 at the end for the variation. The car will be running in all races this season, and notably will not have any advertisements at all - the Rolatian government are keeping the business fully state-owned. Thomas Ragji stated he was delighted with the new car.

In other news, Nick Fasre has confirmed he will be in season 2 for Team Rolatia as test driver. He told a reporter "I've had just one offer - and this was from a terrible dictatorship hell-hole that didn't even specify wages. I'm sticking with my home country for now"

The season launch press conference was well underway and everyone was getting a bit bogged down in technical details. When a couple of rag-cloaked urchins shuffled forward.

"Go on, you ask 'im."

"No, you."

"It was your idea."

"Yeah, but you're taller."

"Come, come, now, boys," chivvied hack Winthrop Tuesday. "Where are you from?"

"Er, Ansell. It's a little town in Wentland."

"And what have you come for?"

"Er, well, we've built this track. Well, me dad has. Him and his mates."

"Can we have a Grand Prix?"

The shorter one nudged the taller one a bit too hard.

"Well, well," chuckled Winthrop, "it's not as easy as all that, you know. What's this circuit like?"

The taller one started to move his lips as a weird voice emerged from his chest, apparently from a secret speaker being operated from someone in the A-team van opposite.

"It's a 2.5 mile oval, with four equidistant turns, modelled on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Only with 20 degree banked turns. We have 250,000 seats, plus executive boxes for all the world's media that cares to come. The parking facilities are second to none and Banker magazine has named the Ansell facility to be the most advanced of its kind built this century. We have a presentation to play to you if you wish."

And a steam-powered projector descended on fishing wires from the ceiling of the press room and cast a soft Yves Klein Blue on the back wall, before resolving into a 20 minute corporate powerpoint on the advantages of the Anselldrome.

The urchins snuck back out part-way through to get a Saturn bar each from their dad (like a Mars bar, only with rings). Would their cynical ploy work? Would an oval be adopted for Grand Prix racing?
