Zu den Leuten von der Welt (To the people of the World):

The Federation has been in voluntary seclusion for almost eight decades, but, By order of the Ständerat through the International Communication Act, the Fremdminister has been given the task of reintroducing The Federation of the Cantons to the world. Along with this document is an offer from the Führender Bankier von Schülzr, which grants the reciever the ability to use the colossal vaults of the Bank von Schülzr, which offers confidential banking with absolutly no government interference. The people of the Cantons welcome all Ausländer to there nation*!

*Due to a strict foreign policy, the max a visitor can stay within the borders of the Federation is one week, unless they have business with the banks or watch manufacturing industries.

Bericht vom Fremdminister

Geschichte (History)

The people that originally inhabited the area of the Cantons were a barbaric race from the north, but around 500 J.H. a germanic people from the south drove them out, and settled in the rich western lands of the Federation. Few settled the Weiße Berge(White Mountains), but those that did became a hardy people, today known as the Bergemänner. The people fought against constant attacks by the western steppe people, stagnating them in a scene of constant war. Almost a millenia after the first germanic people settled in the region, five 'Cantons', Schülzr, Stjuki, Jröl, Däkchsnlaand, and Ërjr, signed the Einigkeitabkommen, uniting together to fight against invading barbarians. By 1578 J.H the Federation had expanded to contain over fourteen Cantons, forever on staying that size. A Republic was formed in 1613 J.H. which would last until the communist uprising. The the first edict passed by the Ständerat, the new senate, was the Neutralitättat, an act that ensured neutrality in all international affairs. This act forbid alliances and economic treaties, allowing the nation to take care of its domestic affairs. The Republic had a rough start, many times the people had to retreat to the Weiße Berge and fight enemies below steep peaks. The Republic survived, and eventually prospered after banks sprung up within the walls of its cities. The banking industry thrived here, and soon became the strongest in the world. The government soon 'evolved to revolve' around the banks. Watchmaking also was succesful within the Republic, 2nd only to the banking industry. Sadly the republic was engulfed in a civil war in 1891 J.H., between the Communist revolutionaries and the federalists. The communists won, and created a stalinist state, crushing opposition and destroying the lives of the people. The people realized there mistake and in 1923 J.H. ousted the communists in a bloodless revolution. A constitution was created and ratified, and the banking industry slowly crawled back to the Cantons. The Federal Republic was recreated, and in 1931 J.H the Neutralität und Trennung handeln was passed, an act that created seclusion in the federation from all other nations in the world. This put a major damper on the Banking industry, but overall benefited the people of the Cantons. The Federation remained excluded from the world for over eight decades, but in 2012 J.H. the Ständerat voted to once again reopen international communication, hence this Bericht. The future is unknown for the Federation, will reaching out the rest of the world help or destroy?

Die Leute (The People)

The population of the Federation is nearly 100% Germanic, with few minorities. There has been issues with Religion however. While Roman Catholicism makes up a clear majority of the population, around 70% percent, there is a large percentage of protestant faiths, mainly the Lutheran church. Religion is considerably relaxed in the nation however, and fundamentalism is not a problem.

Almost a third of the population works with or in the banking industry, making it the premier industry within the Cantons. It has been hindered recently by the seclusion, but it is estimated that it will boom within the year due to the International Communication Act. People still engage in farming and herding however, with nearly half of the nation following this trade. The people not engaged in banking or farming work either in manufacturing (Mainly watches) or services.

Society within the cities is based upon Banking. Nearly every man of status either runs or works in a bank, and every single member of the Ständerat is or was a banker at one time. Outside of the city, however, there is a traditional culture shaped by years of hardship and toil, especially in the secluded valleys of the Weiße Berge. The Bergemänner, the Men of the Mountains, make up around 10% of the population and have a powerful political party within the Ständerat. Currently, the Fremdminister is a Bergemänner, and a former banker.

Militär (Military)

The Cantons do not have a military, instead each citizen is a member of the Kantonpolizei, and one day of the month every citizen age 20-25 goes to train, and the best of these Kantonpolizei are chosen to become members of the Elitäre Polizei. These soldiers train once a week. It is mandatory for every household in the Cantons to have at least two firearms, one of them an assualt rifle or submachine gun. This system has worked for over 300 years, but when things get bad the people escape to the mountains and wage a guerilla war against the invaders.

"Hallo, aumm... Wev at da bank of Schülzr wich to velcome you to... aumm... Schülzr? ja, Schülzr. Wev hope that... Ihres... aumm... your? ja, your visit will be... fun and... Ja."
