On December 19th, the quad-monthly issue of the 'Weekly Breakfast' was published in Zurich. (In German, French, and Italian, translated to English by Monsieur Jacques Pierre.) Among the more interesting items were:
Queen Munson, on a televised interview, gave an overview of the conformity with the EU boost international competitiveness. She also confirmed that New Switzerland remains a safe haven for investors, because it has maintained a degree of bank secrecy and has kept up the franc's long-term external value.
The politics were punctuated by Malcolm Villinus recently announcing his intent to use hydro power to bring New Switzerland into the modern age, and work on the water pollution from agricultural fertilizers. People around Switzerland were unmoved, (except the farmers) then immediately continued stringing up lights. The press caught every minute, as nothing else was going on.
A large Christmas Tree has been erected in the center square for celebration of the season, and clerks can be heard humming energetic tunes.
An adventurous mountain climber scaled a local peak in the Alps during the winter season, a foolhardy feat, say some. Others applaud the man for his bravery, but the Secretary of Defense, Mr. O'Riley, discourages more attempts.
The slower news week of the holidays ended with a glass of warm cider.:)
