On December 19th, the quad-monthly issue of the 'Weekly Breakfast' was published in Zurich. (In German, French, and Italian, translated to English by Monsieur Jacques Pierre.) Among the more interesting items were:

Queen Munson, on a televised interview, gave an overview of the conformity with the EU boost international competitiveness. She also confirmed that New Switzerland remains a safe haven for investors, because it has maintained a degree of bank secrecy and has kept up the franc's long-term external value.

The politics were punctuated by Malcolm Villinus recently announcing his intent to use hydro power to bring New Switzerland into the modern age, and work on the water pollution from agricultural fertilizers. People around Switzerland were unmoved, (except the farmers) then immediately continued stringing up lights. The press caught every minute, as nothing else was going on.

A large Christmas Tree has been erected in the center square for celebration of the season, and clerks can be heard humming energetic tunes.

An adventurous mountain climber scaled a local peak in the Alps during the winter season, a foolhardy feat, say some. Others applaud the man for his bravery, but the Secretary of Defense, Mr. O'Riley, discourages more attempts.

The slower news week of the holidays ended with a glass of warm cider.:)

The next issue of the suddenly popular Weekly Breakfast was released in Bern and Vaduz late due to a large wintery snow drift covering the news office. Jaques Pierre worked feverishly to translate the next issue into the diffrent languages, huddled around a portable heater.
Articles incuded:

The holiday 'Stephens Tag' (Stephen's Day) was held on the 26th as the second day of Christmas, along with Weihnachten (Christmas). The largly Roman Catholic population celebrated accordingly. Politics slowed to a dead halt in celebration of the occasions.

The government let out for the majority of the season, so cell phones and the internet are frequently used for communication out of the offices. Governmental officers enjoy the time to spend time with their family. Mr. Heffler allegedly told a freind, "I enjoy the time off, especially during the freezing cold weather- I wouldn't want to get out of my house anyway."

Portable heater sales have skyrocketed during the season, giving the heating manufacturers a lift in profits. They can be seen with the other numerous heaters in the households, whirring away.

Monsieur Jacques Pierre walks into the newspaper office. Staggering, he slumps in a chair. The rest of the overworked staff looks over, and inquires why he was absent for the last month or so. Jacques, still in the chair, looks over and sighs.

"What have I been doing?" he mimics. "I have been, sadly, doing a very in depth interview with cerain ministers of the recently activated countries, one over in the Russia area," he waves vaguly in all directions, pushing a round-trip airplane ticket to somewhere much drier and warmer deeper into his pocket, "and the recently elected German Goverment. I shall rephrase this, what have you been doing?"

The staff look at one another, then their work, and continue on....
