“Good evening. I’m Li-long Hsu. Tonight I’ll be interviewing Master General Irving Ramel, the top official of the SAVX Armed Forces and close personal friend of Der Führer Hans Müller. The topic: the recent announcement that SAVX will be performing a major overhaul of its military. We’ll be taking you inside the minds of the mastermind behind this decision to get a better understanding of what will occur, and why.
General Ramel, it is a pleasure.”
“Always.”
“Let’s begin. Earlier today, your office announced, in vague terms, that the military would be undergoing a major overhaul. What sort of overhaul are we talking about here?”
“Well, in simple terms, it’s nothing short of a drastic update of overall technology, as well as a shift in tactics, strategy, and methodology; essentially, an almost entirely brand new doctrine. This change will be most seen in the Surface Legions. I won’t be able to give you full details on what we’re doing, but I’ll try to answer your questions as best as possible.”
“Very well. How about we start with the technology updates you mentioned. What sort of updates are we looking at?”
“Up until now, the Marines have been using standard-issue Mk.II Combat Armor. While it’s still a very effective armor, and we will begin to transfer it to Polizei and SWAT personnel, the changing environment of warfare has called for a new design to protect our soldiers.
Taking concepts from the old Toxin Trooper armor and recent advances in personnel protection technologies, we’ve developed a more light-weight, more protective, more effective NBC-resistant combat armor, labeled Mk.V Combat Armor. This will be replacing all current combat armors used in the military.

We have also poured a great deal of time and research into the development of better vehicles. All vehicles come standard with better conventional and NBC protection than ever before. We have also developed much better nuclear and chemical weapon platforms, and newer, deadlier chemical munitions.”
”It sounds like you’re planning to level half the planet.”
“Only if they want to pick a fight.”
”What about changes in doctrine? What’s happening there?”
“This is where all this new technology falls into place. We’re getting rid of our old system of relying primarily on conventional warfare, with occasional supplementation by our NBC strengths. Now our primary tactics will involve a combination of conventional and NBC warfare. Targets will be gassed simultaneously as our forces charge in, guns blazing. Tactical and even strategic nuclear weapons will be used on a much more regular basis against targets we don’t want to waste men on. Our bioengineered pathogens will wreak havoc against targets weeks before any main forces arrive, giving us even greater chances at success.
We will continue our heavy use of incendiary weapons and we will maintain a doctrine of high maneuverability and occasional guerilla-like tactics. These elements have proven successful up to this point, and we see no reason to change them.
Combined with our already tremendous quality of training, our soldiers will be unstoppable. Only fools will dare desire war against us.”

”How do the soldiers feel about this?”
“Some are less willing to go into battle, even with our improved technology. This is fine. Given how things are going to be played out now, fewer fighters are needed, and we still have plenty of other uses for our men and women.”
”What about international feelings? Most nations are against NBC use. And what about the environment?”
“We’ve been aware of international response to NBC munitions ever since we developed and deployed our first weapons of that fashion. Our position hasn’t changed: we don’t care. As for the environmental factor: we’re typically an environmentally-conscious nation, but we can’t be so effectively if we’re fighting long wars. The environment might hurt, but it can be fixed, and we can concentrate on more important things like that once a war is over.”
”What about enemy NBC protection? It seems like most nations would have means of protecting their own men against such weapons.”
“I can’t say much, other than that we’ve developed extremely effective means to deal with that.
Now, I must be off. Work never ceases.”
”Thank you for your time, General.”
“My pleasure.”
