OOC: If anyone's up to RPing a bunch of characters getting drunk in a pub and discussing sport go for it. But this thread is really an interesting way for sporting headline results from the International Rugby League to be done.

Warriors take on the world

Entering into the International Rugby League for the first time, former All Blacks coach Graham Hart has named a thirty man squad for China Warriors.

Fullback - Chen
Winger - Sitivatu
Winger - Chou
Centre - Lee
Centre - Hui
5/8 - Spencer
Halfback - Ming
Hooker - Wong
Prop Forward - Lim
Prop Forward - Woo
Second Row Forward - Marshall
Second Row Forward - Collins
Lock - Everly

Bench:
Lau
Greenwood
Larkham
Carter

Although the China Warriors are new entrant to league with a young, Hart believes that they have a good chance of winning. The Warriors have recruited Spencer from the NZRU, a quality goalkicker who had a 85% conversion rate last season, and possess the heaviest forward pack, lead by the ball carrier centre Lee who weighs in at 122kg.

Still Hart has a lot of work to do. Most of the backline remains untested, comprising of rookies who will be making their debut in international league, a huge step up from club rugby.

Warriors start with a bang

Shearwaters Giants (28) Vs AMW China Warriors (48)

Five tries (Spencer x 2, Chen, Sitivatu, Ming)
Converted 5/5
Penalties kicked 6/7 (86%)

Graham Hart was obviously pleased with his team after the game, in which the Warriors enormous forwards were able to place enormous pressure on their opposites and dominating both possession and territory.

"Our forwards were outstanding. However, there are some aspects of our game that need to be improved," Hart said, referring to the Giant's dominance of set piece lineouts, in which four throws were stolen.

The warrior's back play was ordinary. Spencer had an excellent day, breaking the line several times, kicking beautifully, and taking an intercept to score a 90m try. Chen and Sitivatu also performed well, taking a try each although there was some controversy surrounding Chen's try. Halfback Ming had an excellent first half, but lost form in the second half and was substituted by Lau.

Overall, the Warriors will be happy with their performance. Not many teams can win against the hosts in their first game.
