OOC: It is with sadness that I ask for this poll. The current Cherry Cup Ice Hockey Tournament appears to be stalled due to hosts who cannot fulfil their duties. Furthermore there have been objections to at least one of the hosts.

IC: The Daistallia 2104 Ice Hockey Federation calls upon the members of the Cherry Cup to vote. Should this round of the cup tournament be canceled and a new host called for?

An objection. By you.
I don't know why you don't OOCly like the idea of your team playing ICly in Hockey Canada, but I can't remember that last time I heard this much whining in the Cherry Cup. Get over it.

I"m not the only one - we both know that at least one other player objected to one of the hosts.
However, this is not an objection based on previous problems with the hosts, but based on the fact that both co-hosts appear to have abandoned their responsibilities.
If the other players vote with you, I will happily go on my way and allow you the Cup you deserve.

The L0ve Generation, you are not a participant in the cup!
Please disregard that vote.

We of the Corneliu Government agrees with the Daistallia 2104 Ice Hockey Federation.
We second the motion to cancel the 17th Cherry Cup and move right to CC 18.
We take this step because it has become apparent that the hosts of this year's cup are not up to the task and the way it is being hosted is not worthy of a Corneliuan hockey team. Our players have more pressing matters to attend too than sitting around waiting for their chance to play. If the people hosting this cup where our citizens, they wouldn't be on the street right now.
This has our fullest support.

Even though I'm sitting out this Cherry Cup for personal reasons, I'd like to second the suggestion put forth by Starblaydia to Get. Over. It. Already. For. Crying. Out. Loud.

I'm also sitting out this Cherry Cup, but I think it's absolutely reprehensible that you're calling for a vote to cancel the Cherry Cup. If you don't want to take part in the Cup, grow up and withdraw.

You took the words right out of my mouth. We all know that you don't like HC, now grow up and move one. The Cherry Cup doesn't need you and your complaints, go start your own tournament if you like, I don't care. I think I speak for the great majority of Cherry Cup participants when I say that we're tired of your repetitive bitching. Shut the fuck up already.
I'd have to say I'm sick of both the Cherry Cup and the neverending whining, including everyone complaining about the hosting and everyone complaining about those who complain over the hosting. It's rather sad everyone gets drawn into this every other day.

I'd just like to add a big "hear, hear!" to everything that Starblaydia, Spruitland, Sarzonia, and Squornshelous have said so far. Daistalla, just grow up or find yourself a different game to play. No one likes you, no one agrees with you, and we're all frankly quite sick of seeing you around.

Not entirely accurate. People do like him, people do agree with him and this can be considered flaming.

Everybody else pretty much summed it up for me. I'm against cancelling the Cherry Cup. OOC dislikes shouldn't interfere with IC interactions.

Dalli, you withdrew, right?
Why should you even CARE?!?!?!?
Hey, I'm waiting impatiently for CC18 - reason: to bid to run a cup without the moaning.
Without moaning, maybe, but can you fit a matchday in every 3 days?

You took part in WC24, right?
That's what worries me, you were able to get results in moderately on time! The Cherry Cup requires at least a 2 day pause between results so the full wieght of their team's performance falls on the weight of the participant.

It's been so long since I've taken part in a CC, I can't actually work out whether or not this is sarcasm.
I would do one MD every two days, plus have a reserve host for emergencies.
Yup, horrible sarcasm. People are mad just because CC16 took forever to finish and suffered delays too.

I can understand that. But hey, let's "remind" Oli and HC next time they're on IRC, right?;)
Oh yes, something tells me they are in for a through "reminding."
You know what's amazing, is that the RL World Cup of Hockey only took 16 days to finish?

You're gonna run them over with a Zamboni, aren't you?
Aren't you?
Well, no... not as such... why, do you have one I can borrow?

I've voted yes. However, it's not to cancel the cup. Perhaps I should have voted maybe. I myself had voiced displeasure about Hockey Canada hosting the cup, but rest assured this has nothing to do with my vote (I even approached her to cohost-bid for WC26, dammit...)
The cup has been poorly run. I admit that I don't have much right to say that after World Cup 22 Qualifying, but in my view, if not worse than WC22, this is certainly worse than WC!9 (yes, that's right, the 19th version, with TBF and Turori). I do NOT, however, advocate calling for new hosts. If the two hosts right now can show that they are up to the job, I say let the cup continue as it is. If they cannot, I say that they voice their concerns and let Casari (was it him who had the other hosting bid?) help.

That would be terrific, but a Cup without moaning doesn't appear possible any more. Very Angry Rabbits did an exemplary hosting job and there was tons of moaning anyway.
If Oli & HC can't finish it off, then maybe someone could just volunteer to run the last two days of results and the playoffs. The rest of us would have to promise not to moan, of course.

A) I did withdraw.
B) This is not a vote to cancel the cup because I don't want to take part in it. This is not about who likes who. This is about whether the hosts are fulfilling their responsibility to finish this in a timly fashion.

You are no longer part of the Cup; therefore, you have no say in how it should be run. Myself, I'm thinking that everyone who is whining about the delay should either put forth their own hosting bid or go find something else to do.
Seriously, Oli and HC are volunteering their own time and efforts for this, with absolutely no compensation in return. Lay off them and go start your own tourney if how it's run displeases you.

Considering HC said in the WC discussion thread she (HC is a she, right?) would be offline for a few days, I see no problem in a delay of the tourney.
Besides, Chicanada is leading their group and damn it, why would I wanna end this and then see my team collapse later?

As a long time player (and one of the first) I would strongly disagree.
Myself, I'm thinking that everyone who is whining about the delay should either put forth their own hosting bid or go find something else to do.

Fair enough. However, both apparantly knew they would be unable to fulfill their responsibility to host this as an ongoing endevor.
Considering HC said in the WC discussion thread she (HC is a she, right?) would be offline for a few days, I see no problem in a delay of the tourney.
Did she say it in the Cup thread? (I have no idea, as she's on ignore).
It hasn't simply been a few days delay. It was unannounced, and several players missed the first week or so. And there have been several delays.
All this being said, due to the hostility from certain other posters, I will bid you all farewell. May you have the Cup you deserve.

ok people, this is absurd. this thing is supposed to be about a bit of casual fun, it is not to take so seriously.
1. daistallia has been in this since the beginning and has every right to an opinion. he is part of the cup, even if he is sitting this one out. i do NOT agree with daistallia but i can't see any need for the abuse any more than i could see the need for the early abuse directed at hockey canada when she first arrived on the scene.
2. there are always delays. life happens. hosts are doing us a favour by running the show. i did not vote for this hosting bid, but i make it a policy going back to the early single digits of this cup never to second-guess the host, because they are doing a job for no money and no glory.
3. since there are clearly complaints, i have telegrammed oliverry to ask if he and hockey canada are able to complete this show, or need help to do it. if not, then we need a volunteer to finish it off (casari is the obvious person as runner-up to miss cherry cup, if he's willing). or else i will finish it off myself. founder's prerogative.
4. in general, if there are problems, then please take them to the host or if that does not work, someone let me know. these public bitch-fests do nothing but piss off everyone involved. if you are telegramming me, there may be a delay of days or even longer getting a reply back. in my case too, life happens.
5. this is a game inside a game, not a threat to national security. take a deep breath and go for a walk.
