The rows upon rows of crops stretched beyond the horizon, while men armed with AK-47s patrolled the workers in the blazing sun. The salty water from all the sweat probably damaged the crops in some manner, but it wasn't that important. A worker passed out onto the soggy ground, and the armed men simply dragged him aside -- carefully avioding the crops -- shot him, and dumped him down the hill into the alligator-infested swamps below.

Above the fields, in a well-styled yet modest (in size, anyways) dache, Yakov Yevensky watched as the grunts tossed the corpse over the side of the hill and laughed. "Hmm, more food for my swamp-dwelling friends." Yakov turned back to the people on the couches, holding his margarita in one hand and a cane in the other, slowly sinking into the recliner in the circle of couches.

"As I was saying," one person on the large, red couch began. "Our biggest problem with distribution within Derscon is the security forces -- both the SS and the MSS. The minute a dealer is caught, they will pound the investigation until they find the location of manufacture and the leaders, and all will burn."

"There is another problem," another person sitting on the white couch opposite the previous speaker. "The majority -- and I mean 97% of the people, at least -- are very devout in their religion, most of which prohibit the use of our product. Some will experiment, but the most will either ignore us or report us to the athourities."

"Are you suggest we go international? That's proposterous!" Another cried. "Who do we border? We have a frozen sea to our north, a tightly monitored one to our east, Pschycotic Pschycos to our Southeast, and Reichskamphen to our south! We have nothing!"

"I believe the best bet for going beyond Derscon is through Pschycotic Pschycos," Yakov commented, taking control of the conversation once more. "However, save that for another time. For now, we must protect ourselves here."

OOC: Why thank you. :) I like yours, too. Even though it's an OOC comment one-liner, the word "exquisite" owns, and any post that uses it automatically owns. :D

Sibirsk, Prusso-Kievian Province, Southern Derscon

"I don't know..." The mayor's voice trailed off as he thought about the proposition.

"I think not!" exclaimed the SS commander of the Sibirsk local division. "I should arrest you right here for even mentioning it!" The man just smiled.

"And I shall reveal your Muslim faith, and you may kiss all hopes of promotion goodbye. In fact, you will probably be kicked out of the SS entirely, and then arrested for lying about your citizenship. Do you really want that?" Colonel Karelov's eyes flashed in total and complete anger, however, he held back and sat back down, surrendering the argument to the man in the white suit. "I thought you would see it my way."

"I cannot legalize or support the business in any way," the mayor responded to the man in the white suit. "After all, to do so would get me arrested, and my family would have to live in shame and social exile for the rest of their lives, brought upon them by the oppressiveness of the Christian Czardom here in Derscon."

So, we see your true face, Maksim Karamzin the man in the white suit thought. the words the mayor just uddered could land him in prison for the rest of his life, as they were treasonous thoughts. However, if it were proved that he took any action to undermine the government, he would be excecuted in a very cruel fashion.
Drug trading and consumption, though, usually lands in a prison sentence, or if you're a supplier or a leader, a one-way trip to the "correctional camp facilities" of the Главное Управление Исправительно— Трудовых Лагерей и колоний (The Chief Directorate of Corrective Labour Camps and Colonies). Officially disbanded after Czar Rekjyavich Ivan Andropov II took over, the Glavnoe Upravlenie Lagerei, as it was known, was secretly -- and Derscon is one of the few nations that can actually keep a secret -- reinstated in the last years of Czar Rekjyavich Ivan Andropov III's reign. Alexei Alexandrovich Andropov XIV, the current Czar, never bothered to disband them in his quest for "modernization and liberation" from some of the more oppressive functions of the old Dersconi Imperial government. And once you were sent to the camp, there was no return. Ever.

"That is understood, Mr. Karamzin. However, I would like you and your local government to...look the other way, as our business is conducted. In return, you will collect some of the profit. I think that is fair, no?" The mayor was a little troubled that he was placed in checkmate by someone whom he has never met before, but it was obvious that there was no escape other than death, so what other choice did he have?

"Yes, it is fair," Mayor Maksim responded, not quite repressing his lack of collection. The man in the white suit smiled.

"Good. I shall depart, then, and I wish you have a happy Thanksgiving." With that, the man in the white suit left the mayor's mansion and walked down the block to the black Cadillac Escalade waiting for him. He hopped in the back, and the driver took him out of the city, back to the dache where he was to be in about thirty minutes. I hope I'm not late for the meeting.

In an Apartment in Sibirsk

23:47

"Where'd you get this stuff?"

"Ssshh! not so loud! People'll hear us!"

"This is pure crack cocaine!"

"Hey! Quiet down! We'll get busted!"

"But....!"

"Can it!"

"Wait, how do I know it's real?"

"Try it." At that moment, a knock on the door was heard, and the supplier got up to answer it, only opening the door a crack.

"Hello?" The supplier went wide-eyed at first, and then regained composture -- it was an SS captain.

"Good evening, sir. Headquarters recieved some complaints about noise levels from this apartment. Do you mind if I come in?"

"Well, uh..." the supplier looked back at the other man, who had just snorted the white powder, and had some on his upper lip. Unfortunately for the both of them, however, the supplier bent his head down, and the SS captain looked over his head to see the other man with the crack. Immediately, he pushed back the door and barged in, ten other SS officers -- most of them corporals and privates -- swarmed the room. Two men tackled the man at the table, and two others pinned down the person who answered the door, handcuffed them and gagged them.

"You're under arrest!" the SS captain barked at the two criminals, motioning the men to search the entire apartment -- quitely.

"What for?" was the muffled reply from the doorman. Everyone ignored him. Five minutes later, a corporal came up to the Captain and saluted.

"Nothing, sir, but what's on the table there."

"Okay, secure it," the Captain ordered two privates. "And bring it with us. Take these punks to the cars." After the Captian made one last viual sweep of the room, he killed the lights, locked the door, and left quietly, not making a sound as to not disturb the neighbours.

The SS captain just managed to down another cup of coffee when the commanding officer of the SS in Sibirsk -- Colonel Vladimir Karelov -- entred his office. He immediately jumped to attention and saluted.

"Sir! Colonel Karelov, a surprise." Vladimir returned the salute and motioned the Captain to sit down, and then followed suit.

"You just arrested people in possession of illegal drugs, Captain, correct?"

"Yes, Colonel Karelov, that is correct." Damn, the Colonel thought. He wasn't lying.

"How do you suspect they got them?" The Captain thought for a moment.

"We're looking into that. However, I'm thinking it was smuggled in through either Reichskamphen or Pschycotic Pschycos." The Colonel paused.

"Look inward towards Derscon."

"What? Do you know something I don't?" The Colonel sighed. He didn't like not being able to be completely honest with his men.

"I do, but at the moment, I am not at liberty to speak. Please keep me informed of everything.

Sibirsk SS Headquarters, Downtown Sibirsk

The Captain walked slowly into the Colonel's office. The boss has been acting wierd lately, he thought. I wonder what's troubling him.

"Sir, as you requested, I'm here to update you." The Colonel spun around in his chair to look at the Captain.

"Okay, shoot."

"Well, they both admitted to possession, use, and trafficing of illegal substances, as well as admitted to the general immorality misdemeanor, and signed the confession forms in the presence of a lawyer. They claimed, however, that they got it from a man named 'William Milton.' They said he looked like he was from around here." The Colonel shook his head.

"That's a BS name. First off, why would they give their real name to a bunch of thugs? Second off, it's two English writers' names put together -- William Shakespeare and John Milton. No coincidence. Disregard the name." But it helps, the Colonel thought. That means that they're within Derscon -- or at least have a steady branch in Derscon.

"Technically, sir," the Captain continued. "Both people's sentences are life imprisonments. Their lawyers wanted them to only get thirty years." The Colonel shook his head again.

"We can't decide that -- only a judge can. They either take it as it is, or they go to court, where they could get the death penalty. They won't get their sentence drop." The Captain nodded.

"I will gladly inform them of that. Thank you sir, have a good day."

"You too, Captain." When the captain left the office, a man in a dark suit entered. Oh, shit.

"You've been a busy man, Vladimir. I heard you managed to bust two people for drugs." Colonel Karelov was getting a tad nervous.

"Yes, yes I have. Why?" The man in the suit, smoking a cigar, grimaced.

"Don't you remember your agreement? You will not inhibit our business. You don't want the fact that you're a Muslim to get out, do you?" The Colonel shot up like a bolt of lightning and drew his personal sidearm -- a Gold-plated .50 Desert Eagle.

"I've had enough!" Colonel Vladimir cried. "You are under arrest!" The dark-suited man simply smirked.

"You don't want to do that, my friend. If I disappear, your family will disappear, and so will your friends, and their family, and then you will be able to watch them die. I know you aren't afraid to die, but are you so naive as to be responsible for the death of your entire family, as well?" The dark-suited man simply glared into the Colonel's eyes for a few minutes, until finally Karelov surrendered, dropping his arm.

"No." the dark-suited man smiled.

"Good, good. Now, ensure this does not happen again, okay? Have a good Thanksgiving."

Outside, the dark-suited man walked down the street to his H-3 and climbed in the back seat.

"So, Kallimakh Rostislavich, how did it go?"

"It went excellent, Yakov Groznyevich. He will be more cooperative."

Dersconi Daily Times

Sibirsk, Prusso-Kiev -- Yesterday, Mayor Maksim Karamzinov of Sibirsk announced that two people who's names have not been released have been arrested for possession, use, and trafficing of illict narcotics, as well as charged with general immorality. Should they be convicted, it would make it the first drug-related conviction in over fifteen years.

Some conservative think-tank groups have stated that the new bust was due to "the relaxing and liberalization of Dersconi Law structure." Lenoid Slovenkay, the chairman of Morality Watch, had this to say: "While Czar Alexei has done wonders for the Dersconi economy and military, his liberal stance on many social issues has led to the decline of the basic culture of Derscon, as well as a rise of crime. Now, with this constant liberalization, illict drugs are coming back into play after being stamped out by the previous Czar. Things are taking a turn for the worse."

The SS division has not released any other information, but the maximum penalty they could recieve is life in prison, and the minimum is thirty years in a Federal Penatentary. An appearence before a judge is scheduled this coming week.

"Well, Mayor Karamzinov doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut." Yakov Groznyevich Yevensky tossed the paper into the fireplace as he lit another cigar. "Well, Kallimakh Rostislavich, what is your opinion on the matter?" Kallimakh Rostislavich Brezhnev spat into the fire where the newspaper was burning.

"I say we denounce Colonel Karelov to the papers. That will teach that bastard Maksim." Yakov thought a moment, taking a puff on the strawberry-flavoured cigar.

"I am not so sure about that. If we got rid of Vladimir, then we would have to work on corrupting the new head, and that may present a challenge." Kallimakh shook his head.

"The next in line is Captain Feydor Maksimovich Karamzinov." Yakov shot his head around.

"They mayor's son?" Kallimakh Rostilavich smiled.

"Indeed." Yakov smirked at the thought.

"Excellent, then the mere threat of taking his father should be enough. However, continue to look for more incriminating things against him, and find the files of Colonel Karelov. If he continues to misbehave, then we'll just have to get rid of him. Shame, really, to see the good colonel be sent to prison."

"How dare they (Lenoid Slovenkay of Morality Watch and related groups) blame Alexei."

Message to the Czar of Derscon:

Czar Alexi, we have read of your recent drug problems. While we of course think that it is rediculous to even CONSIDER to blame you, we are afraid that this may carry over. As you know, our nations share a border, and due to our ties, it is not a very heavily defended one. Is there any possibility that drugs are being trafficed to Psi-Pso territory from your nation?

Rest assured, if the flow is the other way, we will find out about it. We've already dispatched a few more undercover NARC agents to the vicinity of the border.

"Sir, a letter from the Shogun of Pschycotic Pschycos." The secretary handed over the letter across the desk to the Czar and took her leave, closing the ramp behind her.

"Well, the Shogun is a friend, he deserves a personal response."

Shogun Kenshin,

Thank you for your support. I, obviously, agree that I am not to blame!

Also, yes, I believe there is a possibility of the drug problem spilling over, considering the province of Prusso-Kiev is a border province with your nation. However, if it has already done so is not in my knowledge. You can be sure, though, that if I find out it has, I will do my best to clamp down on the horrendous scourge that is narcotic substances.

And I have full and complete confidence in you and your men that if the drugs are coming from PP, the guilty will be apprehended.

God Bless,

Czar Alexei Alexandrovich Andropov XIV

Alexei smiled and shot the letter off into cyberspace to be sent to the Shogun on the Kaze.

Re: Re: Drugrunners

Shogun Kenshin,

Thank you for stepping up the anti-narcotic presense.

However, I advise not mining the area. Some of the Dersconis near the border will not take very kindly to that, and they will demand me to put "strong pressure" on you to remove them. We don't need another internal conflict within the GPE.

On Jeruselem beach, a blonde woman in pink bikini is under an umbrella with a infant and a children running about with some guards watching over them. A reporter approaches them after being checked by the Inquisition.

Queen: You from Rainley News Network?
Reporter: Yes, your majesty.
Queen: So what are going to talk about?
Reporter: The Protestants of Jerusalem would like to ask about the government response to the recent drug busts in Derscon and Alexei being blamed.
Queen: If you're the boss, you get blamed for everything. Alexei can't just stamp out drugs in Derscon by just waving his hand. He may run a government, but it doesn't mean everyone in the government complies with the boss.
Reporter: Are you concerned about the situation?
Queen: No, Derscon will work it out. It's under control over there.
Reporter: What about in Jeruselem?
Queen: With our open borders, it's hard but we'll always have a drug problem. Depend on how much the government can keep it under control.
Reporter: And at the moment?
Queen: There's always someone doing it here, we just have to get them
Reporter: Any change to our drugs strategy?
Queen: No change. Get the dealers, put them in barrels of crude oil and set them alight.
Reporter: That's evil
Queen: Actually, we don't get barrel alight. We just wait until they become crude oil.
Reporter: You're joking right?
Queen: No, the prisoner does get a choice of pot, heroin, cocaine or LSD to take before he or she gets put in the barrel.

<pause, reporter goes quiet>

Reporter: Err, you look good today.
Queen: Thanks, not bad for Mum who's just had a kid eh?. Want to talk to the kids?
Reporter: No, got a few of my own. I understand kids too.
Arthur: Mum, it's hot!
Queen: You've sand in your pants again Arthur.

"Trade has always been our passion my friends, always." So far nobody paid attention to His Lordship Clarence Costinack, a notorious drugs dealer - and feared competition of the local government in Änglenbach. Clarence Costinack is, next to a legitimate daring entrepeneur in railroads and other large projects funded mainly by the government. British by birth, he was sent into exile from the British Freestate Gloucterbury after he was found shooting several sexually offensive movies involving lesbians and all sorts of other questionable positions.

"So," he continued "what's on the agenda today?" Without waiting for a reply, he began to thumb through his agenda, hoping to find something interesting.

"Well Milord, I overheard something of drugs in Derscon..." The plump man said this like it's not interesting, only to make himself look like a person who's up-to-date of the world's happenings.

"So Mr. DeGraaff, I heard you have an item for us, will you please be so kind to share it with us?" He didn't quite expect this.

"Uhh... Well Milord... It was nothing major... Just a small newsitem from a Dersconi newspaper."

"Still, I'd like to hear it." DeGraaff gave in and read the article. When he was finished, he stopped talking. He said enough for the moment and gave the rest some room and quiet to think about this.

"Well," Costinack began thinking out loud, carefully, "I think this has some potential. No drug related crimes in fifteen years. Is that a record?"

"It probably is!" someone threw in.

"Anyway, my friends I say we should pay a little more attention to Derscon and their Greater Prussian Empire. Although they're religious goons, I think we can earn some serious cash over there. Friends we are adjourned."

Mayor's Office, Sibirsk, Prusso-Kievian Province, Southern Derscon

"Look, Maksim, you don't have a choice in the matter." The man before him now was just as ruthless as some of the drug runners. In fact, the man before Maksim Karamzinov made the drug runners look like Ghandi with a teddy bear. He was Grigory Lukyanovich Belsky, also known as Malyuta Skyratov, head of the Counterintelligence and Internal Security Directorate of the MGB, and right hand man of Yuri Golovko, Minister of State Security. "You and Colonel Karelov are going to find them guilty, and you're going to crack down on where the hell they got them, or we'll get involved!"

Mayor Karamzinov at that point went white, as it was never good when the MGB got involved -- especially the Second Cheif Directorate. And if Belsky himself came down, then it was important to more than just the Directorate or even the Ministry. "Don't worry, sir, it will happen." Grigory Lukyanovich lowered his voice, narrowed his red eyes, and got in Maksim's face.

"It better be, or you'll take the blame." Skuratov whipped around, his trenchcoat flying behind him as he seemed to float out the door and disappear around the corner.

"Shit."
