The Steel Brotherhood

This land has been through a global nuclear(and otherwise) war, experienced a terrifying threat from an army of supermutants, had a christ like figure rescue it from said army, and even experienced slavery along with roving bands of radiation mutated freaks and otherwise human raiders. From amongst this pile of irradiated crap, out of one of the great vaults left behind from before the war, came a technomilitary group that would call itself the Brotherhood of Steel, and they would prove themselves the true saviours of this wasteland, or as close as possible for a land so wretched, for even they experienced fighting, and disloyalty among their ranks. True to their goal, they eventually banished these traitors and on top of that destroyed the only other holder of high technology in the barrens. But fate has its way always, for this rotting hellhole was destined to be brought into a new light, to something the denizens of it hadn't seen for many years...Civilization...
Ruins of the old Master's complex, three weeks to the day of the beginning of the excavation project.
Paladin Sulus, to Elder Ford.
Sir!...Are you entirely sure that what you seek is here? You are after the knowledge of the mutie king, after all, and the other elders certainly do not approve of this. You had better deliver here, or your future in the brotherhood is shaky at best.
Do not worry, brother Sulus. There is nothing to remind this world of the great crime against humanity that occured here. The muties here may be gone, but their technology is relatively easily accessable. For the Master was working on other projects than just his pet supermutants...
And -I- shall be the one to hold them in my own ha-
And with a loud BANG and a blinding, all obscuring flash of light , the drilling equipment hit something, something which was to change their lives forever, and indeed the lives of all the inhabitants of this world...But interestingly, no green gas. No signs of the one thing that had created the supermutants in the first place...
Two days later, Brotherhood base Alpha, emergency meeting of the elders, a situation being repeated all over the wastes, from New Reno to the suburbs of San Fransisco...
...It is ridiculous! Impossible, there is no way such a thing could happen! And even if it has actually occured, this is all Ford's fa-
SILENCE! Elder Reece, this is no time for your borderline heretical rambling! Elder Smithe knew the consequences of this monumental occasion, even if he did not fully understand the event itself, and there would be no real division among them, for if the brotherhood itself was to survive, never mind the many small towns and villages dotted about the wastes, they would have to put aside their petty differences and take advantage of this wonderous new opportunity.
It has happened. We cannot reverse that fact, thus we must sieze this present from whatever gods are smiling down upon us today. The biggest, most important task facing the brotherhood now is cementing our defences along the coast. That part, at least in some small way has been taken care of by bases Beta through Redding. The second, and by no means the least item on the list is to contact the others out 'there'. They are out there, as we have intercepted 'simple' radio transmissions from across the great blue. Once we have girded ourselves for inevitable battle, that is... And thus, using the Brotherhood of Steel's most powerful transmitters, a blanket message was sent out across the vast waves, practically amounting to "Is anyone out there?..", though not in so few words.
