OOC Comment from Allanea: All of the above has been written by the Reichskamphen player, who is unable to log in so I am posting this for him
OOC: My apologies to all for being away as long as I have. This semester has been a veritable Hell for me and in addition to that, my computer is broken. I did survive the Hurricane ok, and thanks for all of your concerne. I intend to come back on a limited basis for now…so basically business as usual only I can’t be contacted by AIM or IRC as I
*Reichsburg, Reichskamphen*
The first rays of dawn crept up on the outskirts of Reichsburg. They stood softly upon the ancient city gates before going a pace through the streets of the Fountain district and bounding to the top of the Imperial Tower at the centre of the city. Dawn paused there for but a moment to survey the world before it, to gleam from the ruby eyed golden eagles atop the tower before it washed over the rest of the city and indeed the country as a giant flood. It was 5:32 exactly when the suns first rays pierced the windows of the top floor of Geneva Presbyterian Hospital in Reichsburg where the mortal hull of one of the most powerful men in the world barely clung to life, little more than an Imperial vegetable.
Chief Nurse Mary Nordica was patted down by the Imperial Guardsmen at all three checkpoints, as usual, before she entered the bulletproof glass encased room of Emperor Napoleon IV. His chestnut hair was matted, and drool hung from the corner of his mouth. His hand was curled up like a claw by his side and his eyes closed. She bent down and exchanged the full colostomy bag for a new one, discarding the old in a red biohazard bin.
As she reached to exchange the IV bags, she began to softly sing; “Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my Heart. Naught be all else to me save that thou art…” She took a cloth to dust the beside table, she lifted a small clock to get under it. “…Thou my best thought, by day or by night. Waking or sleeping…” the cord of the clock, when raised, moved a small vase of flowers and sent it tumbling to the ground. Mary stopped singing and bent to clean up the pieces.
“…Thy Presence my light.” Mary looked up, first startled, when she heard the last words of her song. She scrambled to her feet to see who it was, but saw no one. Half disbelieving her own ears, she looked down at the bed.
“Be Thou my Wisdom and Thou my true word…” the feeble voice of the broken man in the bed almost whispered. Napoleon’s eyelids began to shake and flutter before opening, just a little. The light poured into the seeing eyes of the sovereign for the first time in two years. He saw, but he saw only light, no form no shape, only pure brilliance, as it faded, he was sure he saw something holy. A woman, transfigured by brilliance who knelt over his bedside and cried tears of joy upon his breast. As it his eyes adjusted further, and his mind quickened, he came to understand that the woman was not holy, but he who sent her was…
GPNN: BREAKING NEWS
Emperor Napoleon IV miraculously awoke from his two year long Coma at approximately 6 this morning. The Emperor is undergoing a flurry of tests to determine the fullest extent of his restored condition and to determine when or if he could return to his duties as Emperor. The Emperor has only issued one statement.
“Men close their eyes and pass into blackness, but he watching over Israel slumbers not nor sleeps. To God be the Glory.”
