NSPGA Tour sign-ups

Schiavonia invites you onto...

THE NSPGA TOUR

Now, some of you reading this may be aware that there is a golf tour on these forums already, the IPGA run by Shearwaters. However, after looking at how the whole thing worked, the Druidan PGA decided that they couldn't participate on such a tour.

Since then, the DPGA have decended into the alcoholism that their nation is famous for. Now they struggle to stagger out of the clubhouse, never mind walk around a full eighteen holes.

So the Schiavone PGA have taken it upon themselves to do it for the dasterdly drunken Druidans. And here is what we have. The NSPGA Tour.

To start with, we will be having just two majors on the tour (in Kaze Progressa and Schiavonia), but then there aren't as many tournaments planned for the tour as IRL, so we'll be starting off with less majors, too.

Of course, we will be looking for golfers to take part in the tournaments. Hence this being a sign up thread. We'll be looking for nations to sign up a maximum of five players to represent them. However, if a main nation is to enter a puppet, the limit is six players between the two. All puppets must be declared.

We are also looking for other courses on which to stage our tournaments, so if you have a suitable course in your nation, we would like to hear from you. All we need to know is the name of the course, the course par and the typical weather conditions. If need be, we'll contact you around the time of the tournament for a more accurate weather forecast. Any additional information on courses will be most helpful, too.

The chances of your course being chosen is largely at random, butthe more you tell us about it, the greater the chance that the random numbers will select your course. Those hosting an event will also receive three extra places for their home event, as well as a very small home advantage.

Finally (for now), the rankings. These will be worked out depending upon the amount of winnings each player earns. For the majors, these amounts will be from $500,000 down, while in normal events the winners will receive $150,000. We'll go into greater detail later, though...

By the way, Schiavonia will be entering five players.

Darren Moore
Connor Miller
Stewart Outhwaite
Jimmy Kingston
Ken Johnson
Kaze Progressa
28-10-2005, 14:01
The five Progressans competing on the tour will be instantly recognisable on the scoreboards due to their insane names:

Quaza Arvistara
Mert Arnasko
Naurew Wazroquez
Huqi Lecsi
Zazta Quyvilara
Krytenia
28-10-2005, 14:19
Four Krytenians will participate on the Tour.

John RIGIZZI (23)
Alex LIBBRA (27)
James KANATAR (31)
Ian MORRIS (19)

In addition, the Stanton Links Golf and Country Club have applied to host a tour event. The coastal course (par 72) is notable for its lack of trees, however its coastal location can lead to strong winds and a greater chance of rain. The par three 14th could be a devilish hole - it's on a small islet linked to the rest of the course by a number of bridges and leaves little margin for error.

The Milchamians have decided to enter two players:

Novenga
30-10-2005, 00:21
The Incorporated States of Novenga is proud to offer its crown jewel of golf courses, the Irddanton Wend CC, as the host for a potential tournament.

Situated at the southern tip of West Irddanton prefecture, where the harbor meets with the Strait of Bandhrabitan, this par-71, 6592m course (designed by famed golf architect Wyndham Parker-Painter) can play with gentle trade winds on a relatively calm day or with fiendish difficulty when the winds kick up.

The signature inland holes are treacherous with narrow fairways, encroaching tall trees, and sand hazards that do not favor the long-ball hitter. The first, ninth, tenth, and especially the eighteenth holes offer stunning 270-degree vistas of the ocean and a very rude awakening for the unwary golfer who relies on the accuracy of his short game to reach the fast greens.

Oftentimes on this course it only takes a two-putt to go over par, resulting in disappointment from the small galleries, and loud curses from the competitors. The Irddan World Invitational is held here every year to close the World Tour, and while most players dread the course, they also respect it highly. Past champions here uniformly praise the well-manicured fairways and greens, the challenge this course represents, and the honor inherent in a victory here.

Representing the Novengan side on tour will be several past champions of the World Invitational.

Terence Cooper Waite (36), the only three-time Invitational champion and a legendary figure on the circuit
Gerry Goodnow (32), recordholder for most money won (career) on the All-Irddan Tour; past Invitational champion
Shelagh Doone (29), recordholder for most career wins by a female
V.I. Putaranajam (25), former Juniors champion (male) and expatriate Bandhrabitanian
Kerry Cragg (23), most recent Juniors champion (female) and star of the hottest-selling golf pinup calendar among Novengan golf aficionados.

For those who have signed up for this, the thread has not been forgotten. Just left. The thread has been in the title on #sport on IRC for long enough with little interest. If we don't get many more by the beginning of next week, we will have to start with reduced numbers.

Signups updated, 72 hours to go until they close for this season, and we need somewhere to play!

There are only two events on the tour so far, so we are in desperate need for somewhere to play. Just fill in the form below, and you, too, could be playing host to an NSPGA Tour event!

Host nation:
Tournament name:
Course name:
Course par:
Likely weather conditions (optional):

All you have to do after submitting an event is to give us a four day weather report for the local area of the course for the duration of the event. We'll even remind you of that when it comes around!

We're still looking for players, too (see the opening post of this thread for more details).

A golf tour won't work with nowhere to play, so signups remain open until we have at least four more events on the calendar...
Hypocria
24-11-2005, 14:11
Hypocria's top golfer Alex Cole would like a chance to shine on the world stage.

As would not quite top golfers;

Greg Valentine
Marcus Nistrum
Ricardo Palmer

And . . .

Host nation: Hypocria
Tournament name: Hypocria Coastal Classic
Course name: Azure Bay
Course par: 72
Likely weather conditions: It's coastal location means windy conditions can be expected nearly all year round. Strong winds and rain make the course particularly difficult in the autumn/winter months.

Kaze Progressa
15-12-2005, 16:22
Can there be a second tournament in each country? That might help.

If so, the second Progressan tournament (Druida has emailed details of the first) would be the Sport Progressa Western Open on the Stadium Course at the Nortenai Golf Complex, located just outside (yes) Nortenai in the (yes) west of Kaze Progressa.

The Stadium Course is only a par 69, but is hardly short at 6729 yards off the pro tees; the three par-5 holes are all over 550 yards, and four of the six par-3 holes are over 180 yards. Expect fairly strong and variable winds, but don't expect rain.
Amorah
15-12-2005, 21:10
Amorah would be delighted to send players to represent the fairly new country in the NSPGA, along with putting up a bid to host a tournament within it's borders.

Rahmez Sarjah (Age 24)
Drake Khaimah (27)
Azusa Nahaya (19 - Female)

Host Nation: Amorah
Tournament Name: Amorah International Golf Open
Course Name: West Sharjah CC
Course Par: 71
Likely weather conditions: Average weather conditions are around 70 Degrees, however during the winter months cold winds breeze in from Jumeirah Bay and on occassion it rains during this brief 3-month period. During the summer months, the temperature can reach 100 Degrees, however cool coastal winds cool off the players.
Transportation/Hospitality: Golfers would fly into Sharjah International Airport, and be transported via luxury taxi to the West Sharjah Resort Complex, a luxurious resort on the beach next to the course. The Course Club house is located right next door to the resort, and the Sharjah Monorail System is a five minute walk away, which is capable of whisking golfers and tourists away to the many attractions that are in Sharjah.

NMS will send Marcel Duplessy, André Labonté and James Cooper.

Also, NMSoft wishes to hold the

NMSoft Open Tournament at Three Maples

Three Maples Country Club has long been famous as a hidey-hole for the glitterati of NMS. Here businessmen, celebrities and the old rich mingle, enjoying a rare opportunity for common ground while luxuriating in the spa or taking in a round on one of the three scenic and challenging courses at the club. The media has been traditionally banned from the club to ensure tranquility for those present.

In order to make everyone else as jealous as possible, the Board of Directors has decided to host a NSPGA tour event on the challenging course #3. This is a thinking man's course - every tree, every hill, sand trap or pond was placed in a way that will make you want to wrap your clubs around the closest tree in pure fury. From the split fairway of hole #5 to the pine-laden approach to the famous 13th green (described by one golfer as "a slice of hell deposited in the midst of heaven") golfers will watch those of their number with brains and finesse take the lead.

The course is located in Montpetit-Lavalée, 45 minutes (allowing for traffic) from the center of bustling Acadie, which offers all the amenities of a major metropolitan area, and 60 minutes from Acadie International Airport. Tour professionals can stay in one of three nearby 5-star hotels at our expense, or may choose instead to luxuriate in the famous Maison Rose in downtown Acadie, where renowned chef Pierre Grosporte serves the finest in Montrealais cuisine* at his restaurant L'Acadien.

(OOC stuff: Weather is fine, although a bit chilly at times. Par is 71, checking in at about 7185 yards total. Par numbers: 5/3/4/4/5/3/4/3/4 4/5/4/3/3/4/5/3/5)

*And to those who might be of cynical Quebecois minds, this is actual haute cuisine, not la bouffe. Although five-star bouffe would be funny. Maybe it does have a bouffe menu after all.

OCC: Its a big job hosting my tour. I can't be bothered now. I think i'll close it down. I still like Golf, but dont like hosting such a large tour.
May i join your tour.
I can submit a course & player

Player: Geoff Rio
Course: Tabacco Lane Country Club, Par 72 - 18 Holes
Tabacco Lane plays as a Par 72 18 Hole course lined with challenging fairways, severly sloped greens and around 40 bunkers. Its also has many water hazards. Our Famous hole is the 13th (The Golden L)

A Dog-Right hole, long par 4. The Hole is quite long, plays into severe wind and has 7 bunkers (5 on the fairway, two behind the green). This hole, many have lost, but shoot low in the wind, and you can shoot low on your score.
Drive it 250-300m will leave you, depending on the wind with a shot selection from a 7 Iron - Pitching Wedge. If its windy take more club, no wind you wull proberbly be shooting a 9 Iron or perhaps a Pitching Wedge. The Green is fairly flat, although the back of the green sloped towards the nasty twin bunkers at the back. A wrong club selection will also give you a vision of the creek that runs up the left of the fairway and continues up and around behind the green.

OOC: What exactly is the system for this? This is my first ever sports rp so I'm a bit unsure of what exactly to do.
Schiavonia
22-12-2005, 01:24
The RP side of things is following the players fortunes during the duration of the tour, be it anything from a simple report on how they've done to a story based around one (or, indeed, more) of the players.

The technical side (creating scores) uses an excel spreadsheet I have created (with a little help on the formula from Kaze Progressa) that takes into consideration how well players have done, the course and conditions, as well as a very small bonus regarding RPs. All I have to do is enter a relevant information, and -ping-! A day's golf scores are produced in seconds.

Basically, it is in the same vein as the World Cup threads you might (or might not) have seen, but on a smaller (at least, in terms of the number of participants) scale.

Elsewhere, Milchama's two new players will start out at the event in Shearwaters, while the UPower Krytenian Open will be played after the tournament in Shearwaters, moving the times of the events following it backwards.

If any more tournaments are added (a maximum of two), they will be scheduled after the normal tour event in Kaze Progressa and Hypocria.

OOC: Thanks. I'll make an IC post soon.
New Montreal States

I'd be willing to add a second tournament, if you want it:

The Paladin Open at Îles-St.-Julien

Shortly after World Cup 10, Paul Castlneau, a retired CEO and major Paladins fan, opened his private 18-hole course on the Îles-St.-Julien, his personal 6-island archipelago 25 minutes from New Montreal harbor, to members of the national football side (the Paladins).

Castlneau is long dead, and the land has passed, after a protracted dispute, to young Loic Perron, a midfielder on the WC24 team. He has decided to offer to host an NSPGA event of his own, to upstage the "new rich" at Three Maples, and show the world how much better his course is.

Castleneau's course spans 5 of the 6 islands (his house is on the sixth, and will be off-limits during the tourney at the request of Mr. Perron's wife) and is a windswept challenge. The ocean is in play on 13 of the 18 holes, and is a direct barrier on the 3rd, 11th and 18th holes. The 11th green is actually a small island linked to the mainland by bridge, the 3rd hole is on two separate islands, with about 105 yards of ocean between the two halves of the fairway, and the 18th green gives players the choice: drive 185 yards over a bay and a beach in order to hit the green, or take a safer route onto a small island and from there to the green for par. Castlneau's design emphasizes not only the challenges of the ocean and the wind, but also the natural beauty of the island. Most player, before teeing off on the 2nd hole, pause to admire the view of the islands laid out before them - the manor to their east, the small wildlife preserve that runs along the edge of the two largest islands, the old lighthouse restord by Mr. Castlneau into a multi-story clubhouse that will be enjoyed by all comers.

In short Mr. Perron is convinced that not only will the NSPGA appreciate the beauty of this course and shortly award him a tournament, but the losers over at Three Maples will plotz out of sheer jealousy.
Northern Voobaha
22-12-2005, 18:03
On Behalf of HRH Prince Vox, we would like to attempt to qualify 3 golfers for the NSPGA Tour. All three have won national or county championships in Northern Voobaha within the past year.

Mark Stiggs, 26 (3 hdcp), National amateur champion
O.C Oglevey, 28, scratch, Northern Voobaha Open champion
Eddie Trent, 41, (2 hdcp), Western Counties champion

We also offer the finest course in our Principality, the Desert Course in the casino resort city of Wikata.

Designed as a links course in the middle of the desert, accurcy on the narrow fairways is of high importance. Water comes into play on 8 of the holes, usually directly off the tee along one side of the hole. The course plays to a par 72, at 7156 yds from the Championship (black) Tees, 6227 from the regular (white) tees, and 5281 yds from the Ladies (red) tees.

We eagerly await your reply.
