Semirhage News Network- New from the Republic!

Anchor: Today in the Temple of the Senate a unanimous vote has resulted in the ban of all religious institutions within Semirhage in favor of a state-endorsed "Temple of the Republic" which will worship the State as the ultimate expression of the Divine. The ban will take effect in a week but already the police force is rounding up the few people in Semirhage that practice religion at all.



Anchor: The people who refuse to abandon the evil religions in favor of Republic Worship will be forever banished from the Most Serene Republic of Semirhage. The Prime Designate had this to say,

For millenia people have become addicted to the opium that is religion, now that we are finally kicking the habit the State shall give the people a perfect form of spiritual expression by endorcing Republic Worship, the founders of Republic are the only thing close enough to be called Divine, the Republic is the Perfect Expression of Divinity in the Nation and it shall be so."

Anchor: A exception in the law allows for foriegn visitors to not have to convert to the Temple of the Republic but they are forbidden from trying to convert anyone away from the Temple of the Republic. Death to the Evil Religions that exploit the common man and women for their money, teach then myths that science has rendered bunk, and then let their priests rape their children. NO MORE SHALL WE STAND FOR THIS!

Anchor: "Today is a great day for the Republic! A spontanious demostration is occuring in Freedom Square in front of the Temple of the Senate"

[images of men and women waving homemade banners and signs saying, "Death to Religion" and "Glory to the Republic" are shown]

[other images show hundreds of bibles, torahs, korans, and other religious texts, images, statues, and other Paraphernalia being thrown into a giant bonfire. The people are chanting, "Death to Religion, Up with Freedom, Glory to the Republic" as the symbols of religion burn in the fires of the Republic]

Anchor: Glory to the Republic! Glory to the Republic! Glory to the Republic!

"You know, it's amazing how some of these up-and-coming dictatorships never seem to learn," Nathicana observes idly whilst perusing some of the latest international news clips. "I mean honestly now, Cesare. Why do they want to borrow trouble like that when allowing their citizens harmless enough personal distractions is a much better deterrent to meddling than the waste of manpower and ridiculous shows of oppression ever could?"

The handsome if slightly slick-looking gentleman sitting across from her smiles and shakes his head with an idle shrug of the shoulders. "It would seem some governments and leaders prefer the hard way, showing off their supposed 'control' and 'power' to try and prove some point or other. How long do you give them before someone takes offense and meddles with their regime, or their people get fed up and revolt - whether they have a chance in hell or not?"

"Oh, at the rate they're pushing things, not long I'd imagine. Gracious, such overkill and hysterics," the dark-haired woman replies with a vexed noise, before she pauses, a sly smile turning up the corners of her lips. "A wager, Cesare?"

The man looks up from his reports, also smiling as he ponders the proposition. "Well, we both agree it's a stupid move on their part ... the time before full meltdown, then - and perhaps guesses on who's more likely to fuss over it all as a bonus?"

"Indeed," she says, entering in some figures and statements on her datapad, then slides it across the table to her chancellor, who looks it over, nods as he enters in his own bet, and slides it back to her with a grin.

"Done," he states confidently, sitting back in his chair to enjoy a glass of wine.

"And done," she replies, making a brief salute with her own glass of ice water, blue eyes sparkling with mischief. "Now, about those colonization requests ..."

[In front of a new all-white marble temple complex the Prime Designate stands wearing a simple white silk robe, next to her is an elderly man in a robe of white silk trimmed with real gold, he leans on a staff that is topped with a infinity sign, the symbol of the new religion]

"Today is a glorious day for the Republic! For now the evil religions of old are banished forever, no longer shall they support the rebirth of the old monarchy, no longer shall they promote bunk myths as "science", no longer shall they be allowed to get away with crimes horrific.

The State has always been the perfect expression of glory and holiness in the Universe, but the only true expression of that holiness without corruption is Republic. And now we shall make our land perfect by worshiping the very thing that rules us!"

[Images of the crowds are now shown, the Entire square is filled with people cheering and holding banners saying things like "Glory to the Republic" and "Misery to Our Enemies"]

"Now a few words from the new High Priest of our Faith, His Holiness Ryan I of the Temple of the Republic!"

[The elderly man in the white silk robe trimmed with gold steps forward]

"I am honored by the Prime Designate of the Republic to be given the Honor of leading the new Religion of the State into the glory of existance. I shall spread our religion across all of Semirhage until every last citizen has accepted the Glory of Republic into their hearts!"

[More cheers and jubulation are heard in the background]
