Have you ever had periods where you just could'nt come up with any good RP ideas? For last couple of days I've just been staring at the computer screen and NOTHING is comming to me. Period.

How do you break this?

Copious quantities of alchamol. Now don't post OOC threads that don't tie to an IC thread here.

Read news headlines from around the world. They sometimes give ideas about particular national problems. Also, as suggested, there's nothing wrong with seeking solace in chemistry.

Also, as suggested, there's nothing wrong with seeking solace in chemistry.Don't be afraid to add some variations to what you see in the day's headlines and don't be afraid to use your NS country as a platform to start debate or discussion about an issue you feel strongly about.

I did that when I came up with a thread about a 15 year old in my country who was executed after being found guilty of first degree murder. For a while there, it got so much attention I had trouble keeping up with it.

Actually, no. I don't usually have creativity troubles.

Then again, <something that involves my RL persona which I won't get into right now>. So go figure.

It is my belief you cannot break it by force. Rather, you would need to simply accept the fact that your creativity faucet is low right now. Go do something else, something not related to roleplaying on NationStates. Try another RPG site. Go out and actually do something productive in your life (like pay your bills!) or find some other thing to do. Before you know it, you'll have new ideas spawning in your mind.

It works for me. I'm usually busy with university, bills to be paid, family, girlfriend, or work. Usually, by the time I'm done with all that (except the g/f of course) I'm ready to vent any stress through RPs. Same principle is applied to posts for RPs I'm in already.

Play a game, listen to music, read a book or watch a film. That usually gets my creative juices flowing again.

sometimes it's best to take a step back and take a little vacation, doesn't have to be a long one, just long enough to get you creative gas tank filled up again, you could find your favourite book read it again that usually helps me out when I need a quick fill, or you could just go play some mindless games (like CS or battlefield, something that doesn't require as much creativity as it does something else)

[OOC: When I have creativity problems, but I want to keep writing anyway, I tend to do one of two things. Either I play a mindless computer game (someone suggested that already) until I get so bored that my brain gives in and yields creative stuff ("anything to stop playing! PLEASE!"), or I watch a Hollywood movie.

Those are often so crap in terms of plot and story* that I then feel the urge to do something better. Voila! Creativity reappears.

* which strangely doesn't always make me feel like I haven't enjoyed them...]
