Urg. I hate single elimination first rounds. Sucks all the fun out to be in one game and that's it.

In good news, however, we're currently at an even number!

CC16 used a two-legged tie for the first elimination round, which might be an idea worth considering for a 36-team contest.

37 teams could work too - seven groups of five, top two in each group go through along with the two finalists of CC16 (who would get byes), 16 teams, either four groups of four or straight knockout.

It did, but in the case of 36 teams I'd much rather prefer an arrangement of 6 of 6 to determine a top 18, just because in that case partcipation for anyone, especally new, doesn't end on a coin flip.

Then again, we actually have to find 6 more people to make it to 36.

Official Oliverry-Hockey Canada hosting bid!

Scorinator: Oliverry's hockey scorinator(the same one used in Oliverry Cup)

After hosting Oliverry Cup(which, heard from Kaze Progressan officials, was perfect), Oliverry will pull a hosting bid for Cherry Cup 17 even though they weren't supposed to with Hockey Canada, the commies run by a girl(strange, no? :p) So, for this edition, we will copy the World Cup of soccer for the format: Qualifications for EVERY team excepted the hosts.

With 29 teams, here is the format:


Qualifying: 3 groups of 4 + 3 groups of 5. First of each group goes to the Final round

Final round: 2 divisions(Oliverrian and Hockey Canadian): 6 qualifyers from the first round + the 2 hosts. Everybody qualifies to the next round

Afterwards, it's the EXACT SAME format that World Cup of Hockey used IRL in 2004.

I was at that. 2-1 USA loss to Finland, Xcel Energy Center, Semifinal, I think it was. Talk about buzzkills, my only hockey game was a national loss. Urg.

I had planned on using a similar system based on a teams performance in the last 3 Cherry Cup competitions, weighted towards the most recent.

Maybe my vision is failing, but I don't see Euroslavia on that list, Oliverry.

That's why I like this Cup, it's different every time. Sometimes it's ranks, sometimes it's RP bonus, sometimes it's completely random, sometimes it's Oliverry scoring himself a 4-0 win over me then going on to score himself the title...

I don't know how new you are to the sports roleplaying community, but the noobs don't usually dictate how the tournament is to be run.

The votes are in and the double-double Canadian bid (Oliverry/Hockey Canada) is selected to host the next Cherry Cup!

When you earn some points (within the ranking system proposed by the hosts) then you can be given a rank other than one right at the bottom. I'm ranked #1, for instance, for my team winning the last two Cups giving them an Oliverry-ranking score of 2.40.

Kragburg's team, on the other hand, have competed in no Cherry Cups before, therefore earning 0 points, putting them at the bottom of the rankings. Win/loss ratios have nothing to do with it.

I'm not in the qualifying Corny- and it'll be luck of the draw if you are or are not in my region. Either way you'll be in the tournement and scorinated fairly like all the other teams.

and by the way Daistallia- Don't spaz out because someone you don't like isn't hosting you. You can either play and have me scorinate you fairly or you can withdraw your team having 2-0 losses the rest of the round robin (standard forfeit rules). You choose your fate Dai.
