OOC: Just an intro of my country

A mid-sized island nation roughly the proportions of Newfoundland, Mind Sickness floats in the North Atlantic approximately 350 miles off the southern coast of Greenland.

Mind Sickness enjoys a temporate, yet chilly, climate, with a full four seasons of wheather. 70% of the land is granite mountains and rocky foot-hills, while the remaining 30% is forest and marshland. The forested area used to occupy the a series of valleys and canyons as well as the sourthern most third of the island, but the vast majority of that has been lost to urban expantion.

The main resources of Mind Sickness are minerals. Mines litter the northern countryside; everything from urainum (Mind Sickness's main export) and coal, to gold and diamonds can be found in rich deposites throughout the many mountains.

The people have a history steeped in barbarism and feudalism. The land was originally spit up between warring barbarian clans (10 in total), and signs of this can still be seen in Mind Sickness's modern society; clan symbols are marks of pride and are still (mostly) worn overtly by everyone, family ties are strong, and bickering with old rival clans is still prevailent, especially among youth.

Though the people of Mind Sickness (known as the 'Unwell') are still very violent in nature, there was a major shift in national identity nearly three hundred years ago. As clans got larger and covered greater areas, a man named Psy Peterson (Clan of the Inner Eye) developed the notion of an economy inside a clan. The first few attempts to run a functioning economy amongs violent warriors degraded into death-matches over property, but Peterson was a warrior of great renown as well as a scholar, and comanded great respect. He vision was eventually realized, but the great task also claimed Peterson's life.

Over the next two hundred years the clans expanded, claimed new territory, and eventually began to integrate. The clans realized that in order to co-exist as well as individually prosper, they must work together in a nation-wide economy. This is what doomed them.

Today, the govenment of Mind Sickness is nothing but a sham. The elders that ruled the clans were thrown out of power fifty years ago and replaced with the CEO's of the most powerful coporations in the country. The nation is now ruled centrally from it's capital, Psychosis, by The Council of X. The Council is made up of one representative from each clan, whose position of power is based solely on the amount of his/her wealth. Each council memeber is also the CEO of the largest company from his/her clan, and will only be replaced if another clan member's net-worth exceedes their own.

There is no law. Everyone is now free to do as they please, as long as they do not run afoul of a corporation. Every corporation has it's own private army, and thery regularly wage streer wars with one another. However, violence between corporations that share a clan is unheard of.

The gap between rich and poor is horrendous; at least a full third of Mind Sickness's citizens live below the poverty line. The streets of Mind Sickness are rough places indeed; crime is rampant in every city center, from coast to coast. A kind of 'Wild West' mentality permiates society, and the only people that are guaranteed safety are the ones who can pay for it.

Mortimer Rumley, CEO of NukuForce Co. and member of the Council of X, has announced his company is expanding to other areas of business, and is offering weapons-grade uranium for bargan prices. John Q. Everyman is worried that the clans will use this to make mass production of WeapTech's 'Mini-Nuke' possible. WeapTech and NukuForce Co. are both members of the Clan of Illusion, and face a possible war with the Clan of Wilting Flesh over this new development.

It is a dark time ahead for Mind Sickness.
