Australia expands.

World War 2 Australia

Reaching a certain level of population, in part due to the massive immigration following the break, the continent quickly became unable to support everyone comfortably, particulary in the growing city areas, though mostly in sydney and other large urban areas.

Several nations were looked at, and many avenues explored, till they came up with the idea of using the hard resources, one being uranium mined in the northern territory, along with newly imported technology. The bountiful wealth aqquired then pushed forward the rush to modernise the nation, along with the need to create new living space for its fast growing and increasingly young citizens.
One option considered was to expand into orbit, an effectively unlimited space, barring debris and other nations claims.

And thus all nations which had enough of a presence in australia were invited to meet with prominent economic, industrial and technological experts as to decide the best course for the nations future expansion. The message would be transmitted along the most efficient lines available, with the upmost courtesy and respect for the other nations culture.

Actually, it's something of a fluke that the Segments are attached to this particular Australia. Beginning with a TYCS Voyeur sat picking up the appearance of a 'new' fractal Australia and proceeding through a friendly but not entirely formal exchange of radio messages between the 1940s below and the 3000-somethings above led to the assignment of a Trium diplomatic officer. Once there, despite some things the Australians rankling the spacers--the white/aboriginal divide, for one--and certainly, some things the spacemen (always male...) did probably aggrivating the Australians in like kind, generally the relationship could be described as cordial and happily informal. Informal friendliness generally seems far more sincere than the formal kind, and so the rather egalitarian 'Pendrans found themselves quite liking the Aussies, even if they were backwards in a few ways.

Just like the Dominioners, really. Just have to lead by example and help 'em grow past themselves in a happily subtle way. Well, except for the space activists, but there weren't too many of those. No more than, say, modern activists and just as easily listened to or ignored.

So when this latest call comes out, the 'Pendrans and their local interests--a few TME Industries and Garage Industrialists' Combine outlets here and there--are certainly interested.
