I have long hated the state of Utah for having to stay in that state for thirteen some odd years, of feeling like I've been imprisoned somewhere with invisible walls, bars and guards. Thankfully this year in July I was able to leave the state for what I hope will be permanently. However as far as roleplaying is concerned Utah happens to sit in the middle of my territory. So I'm making this poll to see what decision I want to take.

I have these options:
Option 1. Split the State of Utah between Colorado and Nevada.
Option 2. Rename the State of Utah to the State of Onaqui — Goshute word for 'salt' and a mountain range in the state.
Option 3. Rename the State of Utah to the State of Oquirrh — taken from the Goshute Indian word meaning 'wooded mountain(s)'.
Option 4. Leave it alone as Just Utah.

Do what I would do if I had the power to do so.

Sweep in, kill all the evil mormans, and abandon the place to the desert.

But that's just me.

Anyways. To the orriginal post. I wouldn't go with any of those choices that you indicated. Maybe renaming it is a good thing, but i'm not sure about those choices. If you have a few more choices of names for it, and make a poll about it, people could vote on it for ya.

Sorry, I should of just left it at splitting Utah between two states. But I let my low opinion of Mormons get in the way (there's a GOOD reason, trust me).

On the contrary, there is no good reason to say that an entire religion deserves to be put to the sword. Please keep such opinions to yourself in future.

Kalyfornia: Given that you're (technically?) democratic, I'd say the best thing to do ICly would be to poll the citizenry of Utah. The demographics of that state depend upon what your backstory is and what you've done to them since annexing the place, I suppose.

I do doubt they'd want their state to be split up, though. To take a wild guess, most would like option four, and a substantial (Mormon) minority might want it renamed the State of Deseret. I really don't know enough about Utah IRL or under your nation to say.

To be honest I am preferring Option B myself. Naming a state after a word meaning 'a swarm of bees' sounds kind of... uninteresting. Onaqui could at least be used to replace every location with the name 'Salt' in it, (i.e.: Onaqui Lake City/Onaqui City, the Great Onaqui Lake, the Great Onaqui Desert, Onaqui County, etc...)
