WC25 | The Teams [roster/squad thread - post styles here too]

Kaze Progressa
04-10-2005, 12:20
This is the thread where teams can list the players on their team (a squad if you're from the UK, a roster if you're from the US, and <insert translation here> if you're from neither). This is seen as polite even if you do not RP yourself, as it allows nations who RP matches against you to post references to specific player names rather than a generic 'Defender #2' turning in a poo-poo performance or a 'Striker #9' hitting the post nine times in the same match. Roster posts are also the best place to place team kits.

Also, this is where you post your style modifier from -2 to +2 as follows:

-2 = all-out defensive style, likely to be associated with formations such as 6-3-1.
Similar to the System Karela approach that is popular in Rejistania.

-1 = a moderately defensive style, likely to be associated with formations such as 5-4-1.
Becoming increasingly popular among RL teams: the Euro 2004-winning Greek side would fall into this category.

0 = a balanced style, likely to be associated with formations such as 4-4-2.
The majority of RL teams would fall under this category. Teams who do not specify a style modifier will be given a 0 value by default.

+1 = a moderately attacking style, likely to be associated with formations such as 3-5-2.
Popular in RL teams in previous generations: the current Barcelona and Real Madrid sides would also fall into this category.

+2 = an all-out attacking style, likely to be associated with formations such as 3-4-3.
Similar to the System Takil approach that is hated in Rejistania but popular with some other nations, such as Oliverry.

The more attacking you are, the more goals you will score and concede. More attacking teams are slightly less likely to produce draws, due to the greater unpredictability in the score; other impacts of style on the chances of winning are negligible.

In recent Cups it has become conventional to list permissions for opponents should they RP first, as some nations are happier than others to allow details of their matches to be decided by other nations. Simply copy this and post it with your roster, obviously selecting Yes or No.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers Y/N
Godmod Scoring Events Y/N
RP injuries to my players Y/N
Godmod injuries to my players Y/N
Hand out Yellow cards to my players Y/N
Hand out Red cards to my players Y/N

Notes:
1) Many of these players can be found in The 'Starblaydi Sports' Category (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Category:Starblaydi_Sports) on the wiki. If they're anybody, their article is in there. Plus you get grammatical lessons in this note too, this time, so good for you, hope you learned something!

15 Caps, 15 Goals (Uncapped at Under-21 Level (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Starblaydia_Under-21s))
Quite simply, somewhat of a legend, Nikola set the first record for Starblaydi Strikers, which is still regarded as the benchmark for Starblaydi greatness 30 years later. Co-Managed the World Cup 22 team and having been in charge for Cups 23 and 24, Nikola again gets the nod as the main man in charge of the team.

My opponent, if they RP first, can do what the hell they like, I guess.

Also worth noting is that, for this cup, the rainbows will not be playing in the usual numbered shirts, but in individually lettered shirts, from A to Z.

The Daily Druid

EDWARDS: MIDFIELD IS THE KEY
Eric Tree on the Druida World Cup 25 squad

Druida's national team manager Trefor "Elastic" Edwards has revealed that he believes that Druida's midfield will be the key to any potential world cup success they may have.

"You've heard about all these systems that've come out of Rejistania, the defensive System Karela, the attacking System Takil. Well, now there's System Hisisim!"

For those of you who are unaware, hisisim is a word from Rejistanian that has a similar meaning to our word elastic. "I was going to name the system "elastic", both after myself, its creator, and the fact that that is the quality that it brings to your team." stated Edwards, "But the systems with names tend to take their names from Rejistanian, so hisisim it is."

"Midfielders are great!" he declared emphatically, "They can attack, defend, do all sorts. The theory is that we'll have enough midfielders in the team to cover every position. It's their versatility that makes the system we're going to play so special."

However, due to the ongoing wranglings in Druidan domestic football and politics, the Druida Rainbows could be struggling to put a decent team together for World Cup 26.

"Look at the players we've got. Just four players under the age of 27 in the entire squad. It does not bode well for the future. We'd like to put the word out around the world for any clubs with Druidan players that might be able to play for us in the next cup, while asking for any clubs out there wishing to employ our current squad to please make themselves known to the DFA."

The formation means that Druida will be playing in neither a specifically defensive or attacking way, but seeing what the games bring. In this way, they shall be playing in what the Progressans are terming "style 0".

Meanwhile, Druida have decided to go retro in their new kit design, and instead of going for their customary hideous designs, they have gone for the traditional NEWI Cefn Druids colours, as worn by the Druids teams of World Cups 11-19.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y2/NEWI/ncdkits.jpg

They are officially made by DSI in association with Chemindus Technologies, but they stole the design from the WC24 kit JMC provided for them. A lawsuit is expected shortly.

Hockey Canada's World Cup 25 Roster
Hockey Canadians looking to qualify... again

The Hockey Canada Canucks will be coached by Toe Blake to lead the Canucks to a hopeful qualifying run. The Manager for the team will be old-time player Mark Habsheid.

Goalkeepers:

90- Kyle Thomas [22] (North Pole United (team playing for in question)) 78 Caps- Great goalie and experienced, he's writing the Hockey Canadian record book. Good choice to be Hockey Canada's first Hall of Fame player.
33- Damien Marx [28] (Irkutsk) 10 Caps- Good goalie to back up Thomas, Marx is just playing at the wrong time. Pity for a great keeper though.
0- Alexi Tarasov [25] (Vancouver FC) 2 Caps- On the rare occasion that Marx cannot furfill his duties as a keeper, Tarasov will step up gratefully.

Defenders:

4- Yanic Perrault [29] (Yakutsk) 69 Caps- 2nd highest scorer only to Kulkarni, Perrault just might make the Hall of Fame one day.
6- Petr Sylanko [37] (Anadyr) 44 Caps- The aging defender has been plagued with injuries but has the heart to continue.
8- John Cormack [39] (Vancouver FC) 36 Caps- Cormack may not be the quickest defender, but his sense of play makes him a dangerous threat to other teams.
10- Timmy "Timmah!" Johnson [33] ("Special" Care Centre) 33 Caps- He's "Special" off the field, but really "Special" on the field.
12- Kenny McKormick [33] (Revuocnav) 31 Caps- He's poor showing and underbelly of Hockey Canada. But his playing skills make him top-notch.
14- Evgeni Zimin [38] (Federal District) 30 Caps- A small and quick defender who isn't afraid to scrap up the field.
16- Leopold "Butters" Scotch [29] (Irkutsk) 38 Caps- He's got talent, but just afraid to use it in most games.
17- Tommy Hydulov [24] (Vancouver) 2 Caps- The rookie has big things expected.
20- Wladislav Shvlidky [32] (Anadyr) 6 Caps- Injuries have kept Shvlidky out of the lineup, maybe he'll be lucky.
22- Clyde Dunatek [32] (Yarensk) 5 Caps- Dunatek is in his prime right now, but without reacing his full potential he'll be a benchwarmer.

Midfielders:

3- Rahul Kulkarni [29] (Dionte City) 62 Caps- Highest scoring player in Hockey Canadian history, Kulkarni can score the big or small goal in any game.
5- Ike Broflovski [23] (Aigburth Athletic FC) 42 Caps- The young Broflovski knows how to play and play well.
7- Trent Tyvlov [40] (Federal District) 3 Cap- He's old, but one last try at qualifying will be gratifying for him.
9- Tyrone O'Dyliile [30] (Vancouver FC) 2 Cap- Immigrant from wherever, O'Dyliile has a monster kick.

Strikers:

13- Mike Ko [25] (Irkutsk) 59 Caps- 3rd on Hockey Canadian all-time scoring, Ko and give a KO to any team.
29- Syku Kansu [16] (Yakutsk) 0 Caps- Future Star for Hockey Canada. As for now he'll be starring on the sidelines.

Hockey Canada will play a 7-2-1 formation.

Sarzonia Stars

COACH: Barry Owens, 46. First season as head coach of Sarzonia; 5-2-6 with Legalese
Assistant Coach: Cal Trottier, 61. First season with senior national team after longtime career as Under 21 national team coach.

SQUAD LIST (starters in bold)

GOALKEEPERS

35 Horace Sandt (Woodstock Wild): The 30 year old netminder has solidified his place among Sarzonia’s all-time greats by leading the team to two World Cup championship finals and one title. The Stars have conceded one goal in qualifying in three straight World Cups with Sandt playing every minute of every match.
39 Harvey Cooley (Saugerties Snakes): Cooley made his career as the starting netminder for the Under 21 national team and won a third place title in his first stop entrenched as the starter. At 26 years old, he is still waiting for his chance to shine.

DEFENDERS

2 Mike Coyle (Woodstock): Left back in the Wild's 4-4-2 alignment. Speedy defender who has added veteran savvy to his athleticism. Now 31, has become a steady hand in the backfield.
12 Kenny Houlder (Saugerties): Although Holder is just 20 years old, he has become a steady contributor to the Snakes because of his fanatical study of his opponents and his constant work with his coaches to improve his game.
7 Brian Sandt (New Praeton College): At 23 years old, the youthful Sandt has bloodlines to his advantage, being the younger brother of starting goalkeeper Horace Sandt. He also injects some youth to a roster that has undergone significant turnover after the departure of former national team coach Dave Wilson.
3 Trevor Crenshaw (Woodstock): Team captain. The right fullback for the four time champion Wild adds much defensive depth and experience to the team. At 33 years old he has become an important member of the starting 11.
22 Jeff Comstock (Nicksia Knights): After the Knights' surprise run through the NSFA Cup, Comstock signed a free agent contract with them. He brings speed and grit to the team. At 26 years old, he is now one of Sarzonia's many veterans.
19 Kurt Laughton (Bristol Braves): Even though he's only 24 years old, he graduated from Joe Gibbs University at 19 following intense home schooling. Perhaps the smartest player on the pitch from a schooling perspective.
12 Mike Cole (Bristol): Cole is a rugby standout as well as a footballer, having led the Sarzonia Galaxians to a surprise berth in the knockout rounds their first time out. At 26 years old, he gives Laughton a run for his money for brain power.

MIDFIELDERS

4 Henrik Bastale (Turoki Isle - Vilita): Has starred for Turoki Isle since his transfer from the Portland Timbers, being named Foreign Player of the Year in the Vilitan league. He has a lot of pure speed and ball control, but needs to learn to pace himself for 90 minutes. Just turned 24.
14 Jenna Raven (Woodstock Justice, women’s team): Has been under the radar after the abolishment of the Under 21 national side, Raven was the first player contacted by Owens after he was named the team’s head coach. At 24 years old, becomes a key member of Sarzonia’s youth movement after the team became veteran-laden under Dave Wilson.
19 Jarret Sanderson (Woodstock Wild): Sanderson has come a long way from his days as the Junior Stars’ malcontent to become a star player for the Under 21 national side. Now 23 years old, he brings some extra maturity and an infusion of youth to the senior side.
37 "Dix" Porter (Portland): A key player for the Timbers, he has inherited the role as offensive playmaker from Darwin Russell. At 32 years old, may be playing for a spot on the starting 11.
24 Landra Tennison (Woodstock Justice, women's team): She earned a spot in the starting 11 on the Stars for AOCAF VIII after an impressive tryout where she out-physicaled several men despite her 5 foot 6, 133 pound frame. At 30 years old, she'll earn a spot in the starting 11 if she continues to play well.
13 Calvin Olson (New Jerusalem Nobles, semipro): As dangerous as Manson is with his left boot, Olson is just as deadly with his right boot. For a skillful midfielder, he's surprisingly physical. This 29 year old has been suspended due to yellow card point accumulation three times last season. However, this tendency to be suspended has cost him a spot in the starting 11 under Owens.

FORWARDS
22 Brian Wilson (Woodstock): At 29, has earned experience playing abroad in one of the world's largest media fishbowls. His father became a legend as the national team's head coach after winning 94 games, so he often thinks like a coach on the pitch. Former national team captain.
19 Kenny Cooper (Tacoma): Now 27, he is the all-time leading goal scorer for the U21 national team. He still hasn't cracked the starting 11 yet.
20 Kevin Wilson (Joe Gibbs University): The younger son of former Stars Coach Dave Wilson and the younger brother of team captain Brian, Kevin shares his brother's instincts on the pitch and may be even more of a heartthrob than his older brother. At 25 years old, joins his older brother Brian fulltime on the first choice national team.
15 Roy Spencer (Under 21 national team): The 25 year old Spencer made an impression in the 10th AOCAF tournament, signing with a Bettian side (OOC: I’ll fill that in once I’m reminded of exactly which one) and has earned a spot on the squad.

Milchama Rosters Announced

The MFA and Coach Jonathan Fairbanks have announced the Milchama roster for World Cup 25. The roster is very similar to World Cup 24 but the changes that there are major changes. The style they will use +2.
The standard 3-3-4 formation.
GK: Tuck Koolerc- Best goalie in Milchama. Only one Fairbanks would think of using in an international competition.
D: Silas Milckey- Good solid defender. Was a starter in World Cup 24 and the only surviving defender who started World Cup 24 on the roster.
D: Kendric Pevington- Not flashy but a very good central defender. Does nothing great but does everything good.
D: Mills Thompson- Tall and good in the air. His headers will help on both offense and defense.
M: Jonny Rintell- Great ball handler and good passer. Will be relied on to get passed defenders and give the ball to Faren or Copperlee.
M: Doni Kunalin- Originally was supposed to start but after bad performance was benched for the rest of qualifying and the CoH. Wants to prove he belongs.
M: Darian Flinters- Very fast and a good shooter. Will be a major part of the offense.
F: Dunston Copperlee (captain)- New captain of the squad and best soccer player Milchama has ever produced so far. Will be expected to do everything.
F: Matt Bantin- Tall, strong, great in air, good on the ground, a lethal scoring presence. A starter to take some of the burden off of Floren.
F: Marc J. Floren- Best Goalscorer in Milchamian history. All time leading goalscorer in MFL history and the leading goalscorer in both World Cup qualifying and the CoH for the Warriors. Expected to score.
F: J.J. Faren- A great crosser and a good goalscorer. A solid presence to help the Warriors try to qualify.
Subs:
GK Marcos Ollins- Second best goalie in Milchama
M Bobby Martin- Last cut to make team last time. More determined than anyone else to have a good cup.
F Spot Nielson- U21 starter. Only 20 and on the squad just to get some experience. Not expected to play much but is great all around striker.
M Elana Kilinin- U21 starter. A girl version of Darian Flinters.
D Mariosz Florfenord- Big and slow. Put on the team because Fairbanks could not find another good defender in Milchama that had not already failed on the national team.

Away: Dark Blue all over
Goalie Home: All Black, even the cap
Goalie Away: Imperial Purple all over

Stadium

Southern Island Peaks

An all seater modern stadium, retractable roof, special look is the old clock on the West bank. Capacity of 40,000, seats the colour of the national team. On the hot southern island ruled by General Jared, brother of the ruler Jude to gain him goodwill, the heat and sudden rain can be off putting. Beside a rushing river, quite a few ball boys have never returned from going in the river which is called "Catincoa death."

Staff

Jude Takerath-20-Manager: Passionate, he can often be seen on the sidelines trying to rally the team. A clever man, he knows how to manipulate the media but lacks the man management skills to rally the team in dark times. Otherwise a recluse, his glasses only add to his scholarly look. When the team isn't playing, he will study, read or play a game of chess.

Igor Dejonvich-50-Assistant Manager: AG good organiser, runs training and logistical side of thing. Sits calmly on the sidelines, in the dressing room, he can inspire.

Gary Seville-43-Head of Scouts: A shady character with the death sentence over him, his job is to ensure security and check on the other teams. Is willing to cheat and lie if need be.

Steve Runner-28-Head Fitness Coach: A keen man, full of energy. A fast runner, his job is too keep the players as fit as possible but can be too eager and has to be reigned in.

Dr Madadden-38-Head Doctor: Runs the medical side of things. Forced into this job, he hates sports but is the top medical man in the nation. His glance from behind his glasses can scare even the bravest of men.

Jade Manalinth-23-Head Cheerleader: Supposed to inspire the crowds, a beautiful red head that is willing to use any technique to see Cuation win so she may gain more fans herself. Jude has a crush on her and she can play on that if promised enough. Known to distract footballers, also vengeful and ruthless

Each mentioned have elite staff to support(example, Igor on the training front has coaches for each position), coerced into the jobs by force if needed.

Squad

Tactics: Mostly a defending side, they will push forward if behind by anything up to two goals in the last twenty minutes. Normally, they lump the ball forward for the lone forward to hold up till players get forward. Willing to use the offside trap and press from front to back

LM CM RM
DM
LB CD CD RB
GK

Starting line up:

Gary Jens(suspended)-24-GK. Games: 8(0) Goals: 1 Conceded: 10
Tall, tanned, agile, good at narrowing the angle, he has many strengths. He has three flaws however: his fiery temper, crosses and being somewhat inconsistent. This man can make a fantastic save only to let a 30 yarder through his legs. Willing to sweep up behind the defence

Leslie Butcher-18-LB: Games: 8(0) Goals: 1
inexperienced but quick and eager. Likes to attack but his shots tend to be wayward. Does not like having to man mark someone as someone good with the ball can tear him apart and fairly short so lacks ability in the air. Otherwise a promising defender who deserves his chance

Philip Cole-28-RB Games: 8(0) Goals: 0
Solid defender lets little past him. Slow but not enough to be much of a hindrance. Dependable but if something unexpected happens, he gets caught out. His left foot is injury prone.

Sol Major-33-CB and captain Games: 8(0) Goals: 0
Lacks pace and only recently recovered from injury, the man who organises the back line is a vital part of the team. Strong in the air and on the ground, a talker.

Jonathan Yan 25-CB: Games: 8(0) Goals: 1
strong in the air and in the tackle, this man has emerged from troublesome youth to a quality defender. Lacks pace but has threat in the air that will be useful at set pieces.

Abel "Sweeper" Robinson-35-DM: Games: 8(0) Goals: 1
The holding player, quiet on and off the pitch. Will not get forward and his passes tend to be sideways but he sits in front of the defence, attempting to stop anyone from finding space between defence and midfield. Unable to play anywhere else however

Heskey Anderton-25-LM: Games: 8(0) Goals: 3
a striker played out of position on the left wing, covering for the lack of left wingers. Tall and strong in the air, he works hard but has the tackling ability of a striker and tends to fall over too much. Fans are on his back

Timothy Ashton-27-RM: Games: 8(0) Goals: 2
A true winger uses power, pace and tricks to get past his man so he can hit a stinging cross in. Loves to attack and has a blistering shot. One of those looking for flick on from target man. Can get isolated and frustrated

Roy Ferguson-30-CM: Games: 7(0) Goals: 2
box to box midfielder with a nasty temper. His job is too support the attack or defence, depending on the situation. Fair passer of the battle, good tackle but few goals in his career, he tends to leave shooting to others. Legs going

Giovanni Hatzori-27-playmaker: Games: 8(0) Goals: 4
hates to defend and can stop bothering if he is in a mood. However when he is in the mood and gets forward, he is wizard of all aspects of the ball. Due to his ego, he can lose the battle after taking to many people on/trying something too spectacular also pulling the team out of shape is a risk with him. Looks for flick on

Cuation’s joint top goalscorer at Bof

Peter "Beanpole" Tanner-30-striker: Games: 8(0) Goals: 3
The target man, big and good at holding up the ball. Lacks speed and fails to score but his main job is to bring others into the game.

Bench

Peter Seamen-35-GK: Games: 0(2) Goals: 0 Conceded: 0
average goalie and reliable but doesn't reassure back line. Winning over his critics

Jamie Hargreves-27-Def/Mid: Games: 1(2) Goals: 0
plays anywhere in defence or in midfield but is pretty average. Good as fresh legs but that is about it

Rio Samba-27-CB: Games: 0(2) Goals: 0
a ball playing centre back but prone too playing off the pace and for being distracted. Suffering confidence problems and deemed too unreliable at the moment

Stanley Edwards-39-LM/RM: Games: 0(4) Goals: 0
Will not come inside but stays in the wing trying to get in a position to cross. Good on the ball but a liability off it

Rual Mendisez-18-striker: Games:0(5) Goals: 4
Pacy small goalscorer. Doesn't fit in with the style of play and can not dribble or jump much but useful in the counter attack or to chase a lead. Prodigy but manager unwilling to risk him.

Cuation’s joint top goalscorer at Bof 25

Squad players:

Neville Clarkson-40-Goalie: Games: 1(0) Goals: 0 Conceded: 1
Old legend, this will be his last bow. Fat which slows his responses and speed, he still has the ability to help the team. Scary to face 1-1

Coaching Staff

James Wash 62 years old - Has been the coach of the Vikings since its formation. The most influential sports figure in Fmjphoenix. In his last competition as coach, he is looking to go out with a bang.

Gisterfred Q. Disterfred 53 years old - Former Turori coach, has been assisting Wash since his disasterous WC22 coaching apperence. Possibly has a chance of coaching after Wash retires, but its not known.

Gary Accrew 63 years old - Fitniss coach of the Vikings since coming from Liverpool England in the Vikings inagural cup. Great habits have run off on most the players and they keep in good shape.

Starting Eleven
3-4-3 taste

---Goalkeeper---

#4 Powell Lamar 37 years old (Ariot Lupes) - Lamar has been the starting keeper for the Vikings since World Cup 20. Has been the best keeper in Fmjphoenix since he was 17 years old. Wants to stick around for one more run if he is healthy enough.

---Defenders---

#14 Bobby Bash 31 years old (Llllllllllcwllllllll Rovers, Druida) - Renowned slider. Never been carded for a slide in his entire career. Excellent awareness and is a solid leader on the pitch.

#8 Kayla Mik’ala 22 years old (Anadyr, Hockey Canada) - One of the brightest young defenders. She has shown exceptional ability to stick with her mark and make tough challenges on the best strikers. Should be a mainstay on the national team for years to come.

#12 Ryan Fremont 32 years old (Vanguard Eagles) - Stalwart defender. Keeps people guessing when he comes up to challenge. Has been a top defender in Fmphoenix since he was 20.

---Midfielders---

# 11 Siieranu Ijanaeil 24 years old (RFC Vrelt) - Born in Rejistania, but imigrated to Fmjphoenix and has gained citizenship. After helping lead the Junior Vikings to a championship, he gets to step into the starting line and try and help lead the Vikings to gold.

After contimplaying massive changes to it's international team, the Casari Soccer Authority decided "hell, why not" and put the same person in charge, ad hence, almost the exact same team in the exact same 4-3-3 (NOTE- Later changed to 3-1-2-1-3) that they did last year.

"Fancy formations are for losers." GMC Vivica Hill said to the press.

The new Casaran Kits were also unveiled today.

http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b20/Casari/Kits.png

The kits, while similar in color to last year, feature several minor changes. First, the blue hoop design that was the Second kit last year will be this year's first, due to better sales and public reception of the hoops. The name "Casari" on the Second Kit was removed in favor of the CSA Logo, and lastly, both kits are button-down instead of the traditional one-piece.

"We're reflecting what Soccer is about in Casari. Sadly, we cannot wear soft pads like many players do in domestic leagues."

PALADINS ANNOUNCE WORLD CUP HIGH SCHOOL SQUADS

Branstone retained as head coach, in spite of Audioslavia hosting

NEW MONTREAL - The Ministry of Morale has announced this cup's high school teams, as well as two fairly major changes. The changes first:

- All games will be held in the Paladin Dome, New Montreal, instead of being farmed off across the nation.

- All teams will now use a midfield based 2-6-2 formation, at the request of head coach William Branstone. (That's probably +1)

Branstone has been retained after a successful Cup of Harmony, resulting in a 3rd-place finish for the Paladins. Rumors that he might be sacked to avoid tension with host Audioslavia were denounced as "bosh" and "balderdash", but some concerns remain.

The Ministry claims to have a list of high school teams, but will wait until the groups are announced before setting specific matchups.

Coaching:
Head Manager: Ricardo Colon
Asst. Manager: Seamus McCormack
Goalkeepers Coach: Manuel Batista
Conditioning Coach: Tommy Reynolds

Ricardo Colon takes over as Head Manager after familiarizing himself with the team last cup. He is joined by Football Poghrill's Seamus McCormack. This Cup's team is much the same as the team seen in World Cup 24, but the three players who have retired were big parts of the team. Forward Brian Guerrero and Defensemen Dmitry Ulanych and Tor Jacobs, all of whom were starters in both WC24 and WC23 have all hung up their cleats. However, the holes at defense will not be as much of a problem as expected, because all three goalkeepers have returned. The trio of Jorge Fernandina, Oliver Daniels and Darius Lepard make the Pschychoes the strongest goalkeeping team in this cup, as all three of them have played in world cup final games, and have all recorded clean sheets in international play. Veterans Franz Persson and Petr Skritsch will lead the attack, which will be very strong, having played together before. The midfield will be open to a lot of subbing, look to see young players Anton Margolis and Kryztoff Markanen getting some playing time, as well as Kumar Nesfield. At forward, young Mostafa Ogbadan will get the starting spot for now, managers liked his quick moves and ball handling, but expect veteran Drew Nelson to get some action too.

Squornshelous will play in their classic 4-1-2-1-2 formation once again.

Ms. Throckspartle reappointed coach of national side for 3rd consecutive World Cup campaign

by Ingbaba

Bananaton-- As expected, Matriarquina Willinana, head of the RBACFA, today announced that Ms. Throckspartle, manager of the Banana Pickers' Union Local 1033 side in the Bipedaleen preimiere league, will return to coach the Two-Footers as they attempt to qualify for the 25th World Cup of Footie. Throckspartle's remarkable success, as the side qualified for the finals in only their second entry to the tournament, virtually assured her being offered the coaching position again.

Ms. Throckspartle said that, "We will play an all-out attacking style, using same 3-4-3 formation favored in RBACFA and hated in head-ouchie-making Rejistania. Boo Rejistania. Hooray wild unpredictable high-scoring matches." She added that, for example, on a five-point scale of attacking versus defensive style, with nought representing a neutral, 4-4-2 type of play, the Two-Footers would be pursuing a "+2" style.

Through the magic of fluid dynamics, Ms. Throckspartle's selections now appear:

Yaforite Golden Wolves Roster

1)Manager: Keron Alhrem. Club: Ajer FC. Background/qualifications: Keron Alhrem has been coach for recent seven-time-in-a-row champions Ajer FC for (surprisingly) seven years. He has replaced a manager who, at the heart of it, was a manager who, while he often had good relations, had bad relations with his players on this team. Alhrem will have none of those. While many players play for Ajer FC, there a quite a few players for Ajer United, as well, but crosstown enemity, in Yafor 2, does not extend to the players. Keron Alhrem has a huge taks ahead of him, with the eyes of a nation upon his, but he knows pressure, being manager of a winner.

*2)Goalkeeper: Deron Smithes. Club: Ajer FC. Background/qualifications: Last year's goalie, Smithes had a hard time during the Baptism of Fire, because of the excitement, media speculation, and knee injury that he suffered that year. This year, however, he has completely trashed the LIDYT record in clean sheets and looks set to break upon the international scene...in a good way.

Praying2God Warriors Roster

Head Coach: Paul Johnson

He is the only Head Coach the Warriors have had since returning to WC competition. This is now his 5th WC as Head Coach, and he has a career record of 17-19-13 (wins-losses-ties). Expectations are reasonable for this WC, as all Johnson is being asked to do is to show improvement from the miserable showing his team had in WC XXIV and CoH XVI. If he can’t do that, his job may be in jeopardy after this WC.

Assistant Coach: John Ball
Goalie Coach: Mark Williams
Trainer: Mary Ann Glover

All of the assistant trainers know their roles, and are outstanding in them. In particular, Goalie Coach Mark Williams is becoming renowned throughout the world as one of the best in the business at what he does. Trainer Mary Ann Glover always seems to have the Warriors peaking at just the right time physically.

G: Sarah Walker (age 28)*

Sarah is developing into one of the best goalies in the world. If the Warriors can get her a lead, the other team is in big trouble, as she finds a way to take her game up a notch when she's protecting a lead. She has also gone down in Warriors soccer lore for scoring the match-winning goal against Giant Zucchini in WC XXI. It is rumored that she is seeing Thomas Larson, but neither of them has confirmed or denied that rumor.

G: Brianna Smith (28)

Sarah Walker’s back-up is one of the most talented keepers in Praying2God. She probably won’t see much action, but she can do the job when called upon better than most. This may be her last WC on the Warriors’ squad, as Sarah Walker’s younger sister Susan is developing into an outstanding goalie very quickly, and may be named to the squad for WC XXVI to learn from her sister.

D: Christine Holly (28)*

Christine has become the heart and soul of the Warriors’ defense. Her offensive capabilities make her the most likely Warriors defender to score. However, she's more known for her defensive abilities. Her younger sister, Kylie is also on the Warriors’ roster. Sarah Walker is her best friend, but she won't say anything about the Sarah Walker-Thomas Larson rumors either.

D: Claire Paulson (28)*

A very solid defender. She is also an outstanding passer, having garnered five assists in her four WCs.

D: Luke Royal (28)*
D: Jenna Royal (28)*

Luke and Jenna are engaged have married since WC XXIV concluded, and have contemplated retiring to start a family, which they might do after this WC. It’s clear to see that they’re a great compliment to each other as they work together great on the soccer field. They have a chemistry between them that helps make the Warriors defense so difficult to penetrate.

D: Haley Erickson (16)
D: Stephanie Vickner (16)
D: Danielle Karlson (16)

These three ladies are all young, but very talented defenders. They’ll get a WC to learn from the starters, but may be pressed into a starting role after that, as the starters are starting to get into the later parts of their careers. They should be very good fill-ins if needed to step-up and play in this WC, however.

M: Kevin Faith (28)*

Kevin is one of the best midfielders in the business. He is the fourth leading scorer for the Warriors, with 12 points in his four WCs, with seven of those coming on assists. His ability to hold onto the ball is something that has left even the best opposition that he has faced shaking their heads in amazement. He married midfield partner Christa Nelson since WC XXIV ended, and they have talked about retiring to start a family after this WC.

M: Ashley Gore (27)*

Ashley is the third leading scorer for the Warriors over her four WCs, compiling 13 points, with nine of them coming on assists. She also has the distinction of being the first Warrior other than Thomas Larson to score a match-winning goal, when she scored in the 89th minute against Turori to give the Warriors a 2-1 upset, as well as being the only other Warrior to have scored multiple match-winning goals. She is a solid defensive player too.

M: Christa Faith (26)*

Christa holds fifth place on the Warriors' leading scorers list, having scored ten points in her four cups (three goals, seven assists). She married midfield partner Kevin Faith after WC XXIV ended, and they are contemplating retiring to start a family. Her defensive abilities make her the best defensive midfielder in the starting line-up.

M: Alissa Madison (27)*

A former reserve forward, Alissa was changed to a midfielder and named a starter when the Warriors changed formations before WC XXIV, and didn’t disappoint with a goal and an assist. She has a lot of offensive talent, and was the best defensive forward on the roster when she played up front.

M: Jessica Stevenson (27)
M: Michael Star (27)
M: Gwen Wall (28)
M: Kylie Holly (27)

A solid collection of reserves. They are all excellent defensive midfielders, but with the offensive talent and chemistry amongst the starters, they are left to sit on the sidelines. Kylie is Christine’s younger sister, and more offensively minded than her older sister. Jessica, Gwen, and Kylie are also close friends of Thomas Larson and Sarah Walker, but so far, they have also declined to comment on the rumors about them. How long they will be on the roster is unclear, as there may be a youth movement on the Warriors squad after this WC, especially if the Warriors fail to qualify, in order to prepare for the future.

F: Thomas Larson (28) Captain*

Arguably one of the greatest scorers in the game today, and by far the most well-known Warriors player. He has the ability to score anytime he touches the ball, no matter where he is on the field. This is his third WC as the official Warriors captain. Hands down, the Warriors’ leading scorer, having poured in 38 points (27 goals, 11 assists) in his four WCs, in only 49 matches. Defenses try to focus on shutting him down, but with all the offensive talent between the forwards and midfielders, it is hard to double him at all times. He is rumoredly in a relationship with Sarah Walker, but nobody has been able to confirm that rumor, and they refuse to confirm or deny the rumor.

F: Kelly Carter (27)*

The second leading scorer for the Warriors, having scored 21 points (13 goals, 8 assists) in her four WCs. She is a threat anytime she touches the ball. However, her accomplishments have been overshadowed by Thomas'. She seems to be interested in him, but then again, which of the single ladies on the team isn't?

F: Sarah King (28)
F: Amy Long (16)

A pair of very talented back-up forwards. Amy is young compared to the most of the other members of the team, but that may be a good thing, as she’ll be better suited to lead once the current starters are gone. Sarah is a veteran at warming the bench, as she’s done it for 47 of 49 matches on the national team. However, she’s very capable, and would not be a big step down from the starters, despite the fact that they are prolific scorers.

To note! All are female on team.
A note regarding the politeness. The Japanese names placed the family names first, then the individual name. It would be impolite, in order to call John Jones "Mr. John"; he is Mr. Jones. It is as impolite equal, in order to call Nishikigori Yaeko "Ms Yaeko"; she is Ms Nishikigori.

Hypocria

Hypocria - World Cup 25 Squad

The Staff

Head Coach - Dave Wilson, 63
The legendary former coach of Sarzonia who lead the Stars to a third place finish (WC23), a second place finish (WC24) and a World Cup win at WC22. It was widely believed that Wilson intended to retire after the last tournament but instead he opted to take up a new challenge in Hypocria. This will be his eighth qualifying campaign as a national coach. Wilson has a record of 94 wins in 143 games.

Assistant Coach - Chris Trautwig, 55
Wilson’s assistant in the last two qualifying campaigns and formally coach of the Woodstock Wild and Sarzonia’s AOCAF side. He joins the Hyppos coaching staff after losing out on the Sarzonia vacancy to Barry Owens.

Assistant Coach - Gregory Vidal, 39
Acted as assistant coach to Guylain N’Dumbu-Nsungu and took over as co-caretaker coach, along with Michael De Winter, following Guylain’s sacking. Vidal was in joint charge during the AOCAF tournament in Fmjphoenix and the Cup of Harmony but now drops back into the assistant coach role.

The Players

Goalkeepers

1. Ricardo Kindelan, (32, GK, 51 caps) - Pylos Reavers
Hypocria’s undisputed number 1 since the team’s first ever senior international at the Baptism of Fire eight years age. A real fan favourite since the string of excellent performances that helped the Hyppos to the final of AOCAF 9.

13. Alex Derevko, (28, GK, 10 caps) - Hypocrium City
Despite being first choice for the Hyper League champions Derevko is the long time understudy to Kindelan at international level. Nine of his ten appearances have come at the Cup of Harmony. A 2 - 1 over Milchama in the penultimate match of the last CoH was the first time the side had ever won with Derevko in goal.

24. Stephen Drakes, (23, GK, 0 caps) - Dynamo Rasium
A talented young keeper who has come through the ranks of the Under-21 side but hasn’t yet broken into the senior starting eleven. His older brother is an experienced international with 44 caps.

Defence

2. Chris Golla, (26, D/DMR, 36 caps, 1 goal) - Hypocrium City
Hypocria’s youngest ever international when he made his debut at just 18. He’s appeared plenty of times since then and, although not always as first choice.

3. Ricky Poskas, (28, D/DML, 46 caps) - Hypocrium City
A consistent performer for the Hyppos since their arrival on the world stage. Ricky is prone to neglecting his defensive duties in favour of darting runs down the left flank.

5. Sergey Kreska, (27, DC, 6 caps, 1 goal) - Partizan Drissa
A player who has had to wait a long time for a call up since first appearing in the Under-21 World Cup. The towering Partizan Drissa centre back is a real threat in the air and has already got his first international goal, at the Cup of Harmony where he also made his debut.

6. Paul Blake, (34, DC, 52 caps, 1 goal) - Hypocrium City
Age is catching up with the long serving captain of the national side. Blake has been a solid and dependable performer since the national team’s creation but this will most likely be his swansong.

12. Karl Nalepka, (30, DC, 17 caps) - Pylos Reavers
Originally first choice at centre back when the team debuted at the Baptism of Fire but a number of errors have seen him drop down the pecking order.

14. Marius Black, (25, DRC, 26 caps) - Partizan Drissa
A temperamental defender who graduated from the Under-21 programme. Black has established himself in the senior side but question marks over his temper may see him dropped in favour of someone a bit calmer.

16. Maelog Mumtazi, (23, DL, 0 caps) - Pylos Reavers
A controversial addition to the squad. Mumtazi is Bettian by birth but has been granted Hypocrian citizenship after playing in the Hyper League for a number of years. He will challenge Poskas for the left back berth.

20. Momo Diabang, (19, DRC, 0 caps) - Coral City Islanders
Momo has exploded onto the scene this season after a number of brilliant performances in a struggling islanders side. He can play in the centre of defence but his preferred position is right back. If he makes his debut Momo will be come the first player from the colonies to pull on the blue and white.

Midfield

4. Marcus Baxter, (28, DMC, 58 caps, 5 goals) - Sukatra Tigers (Bettia)
Quite simply the best player of his generation. Baxter is the driving force of the side and the midfield playmaker. From his central midfield position he can play long passes down the flanks or beautifully timed through balls to the strikers. He is also a deadball specialist and has hit a number of goals from freekicks.

7. Ashley Marshall, (28, AM/FR, 27 caps, 7 goals) - Partizan Drissa
A talented winger who first came to prominence during the Hyppos run to the final of AOCAF 9. Generally plays on the right of midfield but can also be pushed forward as a third striker.

8. Alex Rytter, (24, AMC, 6 caps) - Turoki Isle (Vilita)
A hugely talented midfielder who has never really shown his true abilities with the national side. A high profile move to the Stellar Division could jump start his international career.

11. Robert Bercali, (23, AML, 27 caps, 2 goals) - Yeaddin Owls (Vilita)
Like Rytter, Bercali is a product of the Kester Town youth system who has since moved to Vilita. An excellent season in the Tropics has resulted in a big money move to Stellar Division giants Yeaddin Owls.

15. Luc Sinclair, (27, DMC, 16, caps) - Partizan Drissa
A midfield enforcer who specialises in breaking up any opposition attack that crosses the halfway line. Sinclair is usually thrown on when the Hyppos are holding onto a lead. As such 12 of his 16 caps have come as a substitute.

17. Patrick Remy, (30, MRC, 4 caps) - Partizan Drissa
A late arrival on the international stage. Remy is a neat and tidy midfielder player who can play either in the centre or on the right. His 4 caps came at the recent Cup of Harmony.

21. Bora Burdali, (28, AMRLC, 35 caps, 4 goals) - Football Pogrill (Squornshelous)
A former star of the Under-21 team who used t be an ever present in the senior squad. He has dropped off the radar slightly since a move abroad and has also dropped down the midfield pecking order. His versatility makes him a good squad player.

22. Hayden Jenas, (20, MLC, 0 caps) - FC Pydna
A young midfield player who has been instrumental in FC Pydna’s excellent start to the Hyper League.

Attack

9. Andrei Shirko, (33, SC, 46 caps, 17 goals) - Hypocrium City
The striker may have reached the veteran stage of his career but he’s still one of the Hyper League’s most potent attackers and is expected to continue as first choice in the national side.

10. Alex Liberda, (30, FLC, 42 caps, 12 goals) - Everton City Reds (Krytenia)
An underrated forward who is still the only Hypocrian to have registered an international hat trick. A good finisher who also creates chances for those around him.

18. Danny West, (27, SC, 27 caps, 13 goals) - Sporting Mayo (Spruitland)
The national side’s resident heart throb. A striker whose selfish attitude has cost him his place in the side on more than one occasion. When he does get the chance to shine West is probably the best finisher in the squad.

19. Ashley Deucher, (26, SC, 6 caps, 1 goal) - FC Hypocrium
A striker whose goals helped FC Hypocrium to lift the Cup last season. Deucher has made 6 appearances at AOCAF 10 and scored in the second round defeat to Spruitland.

23. Paul Dargo, (22, SC, 0 caps) - Dynamo Rasium
Talented young forward who has scored plenty of goals for the Under-21 side and whose goals have spearheaded Dynamo Rasium’s move up the Hyper League table.

Shearer Hell is a nation where every citizen is a clone of Alan Shearer, he of Shearer Heaven infamy. Hence the fact that they will play an all-out attacking +2. We'll be waring this football shirt.

Our line up, as you may have guessedc already, will all be called Alan Shearer and will all be wearing shirt number 9. We hope to confuse the opposition into not knowing which player they should be marking.

Aroras Ready to Takil The World

After a rather drab third season of NS competition, the Bettian football squad has been given something of an overhaul. Gone are the sensible 5-3-2 formations of the past - the management have decided that all-out attack is the best form of defence (in other words, Bettia's style modifier is +2). But before announcing the squad, the FAB have got a few words for the world...

If they RP first, the Football Association of Bettia hereby gives
their opponents permission to RP and godmod anything they want, short of
killing any players - that'd just be mean.

So who are the plucky 25 hoping to put in a stellar performance in the famous green and gold quarters?

Goalkeepers:

1. Ricardo DiTorino - Akani Sands, age 20, 51 caps.
The last few years have been of almost imeasurable success for the Akani Sands keeper - his team are riding high in the league after their double-winning exploits of lat year, and he has already reached 50 caps at the tender age of twenty. The cat-like agility of this young shot-stopper has propelled him to the brink of international stardom.

2. Amir Bettison - Gabalfa Rovers, age 33, 49 caps.
After a slightly off season, his club (of which he is captain) is finally starting to revive its former glory. Hugely inspirational with a great footballing brain.

3. Robert Sole - Lorshill United, age 23, 1 cap.
Despite rumours of his imminent departure, Sole has remained loyal to his home-town club after signing a new contract. This 6'2" keeper is an imposing prescence in the box, and is excellant at handling crosses.

Defence:

4. Gwynoro Tyrno'r - Makosile United (Vilita), age 20, 8 caps.
An exciting young defensive talent whose displays in the previous Cup of Harmony have earned him a move to the Vilitan league.

5. Geraint Carew - Vimesbairn Athletic (Cockbill Street), age 27, 75 caps, 3 goals.
One of the most experienced and consistant players in the squad. A dependable tackler and swift counter-attacker, Carew also shows some prowess from the penalty spot.

6. Jon McKinnon - Patriots Everton (Krytenia), age 21, 38 caps.
Like Gwynoro Tyrno'r, McKinnon worked his way through the Under-21 ranks before clinching a spot in the full international squad at a young age, and, like Tyrno'r, his potential was spotted by foreign talent scouts.

7. Amir Bin Da'ud - Gabalfa Rovers, age 29, 62 caps.
An exciting, experienced left wing-back who made a name for himself in Bettian football with his long throws which have set up many goals in the past for both club and country. Is pretty much an integral part of the Bettian team.

8. Gareth Coates (captain) - Grappenhall United, age 26, 61 caps, 1 goal.
Vastly experienced captain of the Bettian national squad who often puts in near-flawless performances (according to him anyway).

9. Musa Williams - Gabalfa Rovers, age 28, 67 caps.
This experienced tough-tackling centre-back has been a mainstay of the Bettian squad for many years, and its not difficult to see why. Is a veritable rock in defence for both club and country.

Midfield:

10. John Connick - Rolestu FC (Bedistan), age 30, 70 caps.
His keen awareness of players around him and pinpoint passes has established this midfield dynamo as the playmaker of the team.

11. Badr Warlow - Gabalfa City, age 22, 12 caps, 2 goals.
An emerging talent whose free-kicks are famed and feared within the Apex League. Scored on his debut during the last World Cup qualifying round.

12. Omar Whistler - Strundanne FC (Nedalia), age 25, 41 caps, 11 goals.
A solid experienced midfielder who, after having a torrid season with his former club Maindy, has made the move over the border to Nedalia. He will be looking to take out his frustrations on the international stage.

13. Evan Brooks - Gabalfa Rovers, age 28, 61 caps, 17 goals.
Reckoned by many to be the best midfielder Bettia has ever produced, his set-pieces are second to none. Equally at home in the centre or on either wing.

Wingers:

14. Aaron Brown - Rumnasih Rangers, age 23, 36 caps, 2 goals.
A nippy little right-winger with undoubted attacking capabilities, often linking up well with the right back to set up swift attacks. Has just signed for the league newcomers much to the suprise (and dismay) of his former club Emcorn, who are inexplicably having a torrid time near the bottom of the 1st Division.

15. Ieaun Swain - Grappenhall United, age 23, 34 caps, 2 goals.
An exceptionally quick player who has made the left-wing slot his own. Is currently enjoying a tremendous season with Grappenhall, and will be hoping his club form translates onto the international field.

16. Jason Abdullah - Butetown Dragons, age 20, 18 caps.
A firey youngster who usually plays on the right but just as capable on the left, making him an ideal member for this squad. Is on a tremendous run of form for his club, which looks to be enough to see him reclaim a first team spot after a while on the sidelines.

17. Chris Walworth - Canterbury (Liamist States), age 25, 7 caps.
Has made a handful of appearances for the Aroras, and will be hoping to impress the management in his push to gain a first-team spot. Primarily a winger, although he can play in the centre if needed.

Forwards:

18. Lewis Bin-Majd - Gabalfa City, age 30, 12 caps, 2 goals.
Prolific club goalscorer who made his debut during AOCAF IX, he is on a good run of form after netting twice during the Cup of Harmony. Is a potent striker, especially from long-range.

19. Latif Hunter - Aigburth Athletic (Krytenia), age 20, 20 caps, 7 goals.
A true wonderkid, Hunter astounded the Bettian footballing scene by winning the Golden Boot during the first Apex League. Has been playing in Krytenia for a couple of seasons where the experience seems to have done hime a world of good.

20. Chris Hutton - Marine Coast United (Vilita), age 19, 52 caps, 24 goals.
A prolific scorer in international football who makes his living in the V-League. The centrepiece of Bettia's front line for a few seasons now, he is famed for his terrier-like tenacity and shooting accuracy.

21. John Harding - Akani Sands, age 29, 31 caps, 20 goals.
A lanky striker whose goals helped Akani Sands to the league and cup double last year, and is once again his club's leading scorer. His 6'4" frame makes him an obvious danger from corners and crosses.

22. Gethin Ward - Gabalfa Rovers, age 30, 45 caps, 16 goals.
Gabalfa Rovers' main striker has been a regular feature of the Bettian lineup for quite some time, but has been eclipsed by the emergence of such talent as Hunter, Hutton and York. A supreme goal poacher in the same vein as his former team-mate and Bettian legend Stuart Abdul-Rahim.

23. Judson York - Pylos Reavers (Hypocria), age 27, 44 caps, 29 goals.
Fearsome. There's no other word to describe Judson York. His skill, speed and power has seen him set the Hypocrian league on fire over the last couple of seasons, and he has established himself as a first team regular for Bettia. A versatile striker who can play as a centre-forward or on either wing.

24. Ieuan Howerth - Old Liamopolois (Liamist States), age 21, 0 caps.
Howarth is a Liamist States-based player who enjoyed great success at the last U21-World Cup. Howerth is nicknamed The Flea because he irritates and taunts opponents with his flair and skill, which sometimes makes him the target of some crunching tackles.

25. Husni Teague - Butetown Dragons, age 29, 4 Caps, 1 goal.
Having made a few appearances in the last AOCAF (including one goal against Sarzonia), his recent performances for club and country have ensured he makes it into the 25-man squad.

ANATHEMATIC REPUBLICS WC25 ROSTER

Coach: Jean-Rene Filon, murderer and suicide, late of the New Montreal States. The best coach down here who still had his wits about him.

Style: A 3-4-3 would probably be a +1.

Defense:

Arius - leader of the Arians, a group that denied the equality of Jesus Christ with God the father. Also, unbeknownst to most people, a superlative tackler.
Asterius the Sophist - one of the foremost pupils of Arius.
Nestorius, Patriarch of Constantinople - preached that the Virgin Mary did not give birth to Jesus Christ as God, but as a human

Midfield:

Donatus - challenged the unity of the Church in Northern Africa back when there were Christians there by denouncing the Emperor's position as a church leader
Priscillian of Avila - the first person executed for heresy, and has been made the team captain for that reason
Simon Magus - the father of all dark sorceries and mages. Preached that he was a god. Had been given the ability to levitate and fly as a dark power.
Marcion of Sinope - founded a church of his own strong enough to challenge the one true Church

Forwards:

Constantine V - leading iconoclast. Hopefully he'll be as agressive on the pitch as he was against the defenders of the holy images.
Cardinal Humbert - his headstrong and arrogant manner lead to the separation of the Catholic Church from the Orthodox, and a bunch of empire-shattering crises that could have been easily avoided came to pass
Enrico Dandolo - masterminded the capture and sack of Constantinople during the 4th crusade

The team will be accompanied by the Whores of Babylon cheerleading squad.

Nedalia
06-10-2005, 14:25
The Nedalia Lions

The Lions, to the suprise of no one, will be playing the +2, all out attack style. Go easy on the goals conceded, please.

THE GAFFER:

Randy Gamman:
- Every game the Lions have ever played professionally has been under Gamman. All their success and failures (a lot of the former, a bit of the latter) they owe to him, and he couldn’t appreciate it more. A Nedalian through and through, Gamman just pushed past the 55 year mark, and he has shown no signs of slowing down. Bar none, the best manager that has ever graced the shores of Nedalia.

GOALKEEPERS:

Derrell Lynch (72 caps): Captera GK, 33 years old. The elder statesman of the team, along with Cole Zenith, he is also the most capped player in Lions’ history. Has been between the posts for the national squad since day one, and is still as reliable as ever. Three time Premier League Goalkeeper of the Year, possible the most undroppable player on the squad. Nedalia fans are already dreading the day he decides to hang up his boots, as there is no real evident talent capable of replacing him. The good news, however, is that he has shown no signs, or intentions, to do such a thing.

Jim Brown (8 caps): Rappor GK, 26 years old. Beat out Hard Dans for the priviledge of backing up Lynch. Solid GK, potential candidate to replace Lynch when he retires.

DEFENSE:

Gradd Corona (2 caps/0 goals): Brickell LB, 19 years old. The youngster broke through the first team at Brickell in grand fashion, solidifying his presence as the first team choice and getting the attention of Gamman in the process. Given the Lions problem left back position, was thrown directly into action as the starter. Played 34 matches for his club this season, averaging 7.54 while delivering 4 assists and scoring 2 goals. Great talent matched with great potential, is already being touted as the best LB to come out of Nedalia.

Cole Zenith (61 caps/1 goal): Bronkstone CD, 33 years old. Finally showing his age, although the only way you can tell is by noticing his pace and how its slowed. Still as resilient as ever, still as determined as ever, and still the team captain. The rumor is this will be his last World Cup before handing the defensive reigns over to Khadra, and it if that is the case, he will be sure to want to go out with a bang. Two time Premier League Defender of the Year, he will be sorely missed when he finally does hang up his international boots. Averaged 7.38 while scoring 2 goals and giving 3 assists for his club this season.

Mohammed Khadra (26 caps/2 goals): Shoreland United CD, 25 years old. The former U21 star and captain has made the adjustment to the first squad level look easy. Although the critics have always been on top of the Zenith – Khadra partnership, claiming it to be unreliable and unconsistent, it was on the strength of those two that the team has achieved what it did. Khadra is also believed to be one of the main candidates for the captaincy after Zenith retires, and he would not be a bad choice either. A terrific defender, he is currently the Premier League Defender of the Year. Averaged 7.62 while scoring 5 goals and handing it out 2 assists for his club squad.

Hans Lamm (43 caps/1 goal): Honsfield Athletic RD, 26 years old. Lamm continues to hold down the RD position for the Lions with great consistency and strength, and has never given Gamman any reason to drop him for the squad. Good going forward, and just as strong doing his defensive duties, the Honsfield RD is just hitting the prime of his career. Averaged 7.42 while scoring 4 goals and handing out 6 assists for his club.

Jorgem Ruff (11 caps/0 goals): Edensanne LD, 25 years old. Solid defender, could not make the left back position his, with the youngster Corona being favored over him.

Stevenson (7 caps/0 goals): Brickell CD, 25 years old. Always reliable, has been on the national team since he was in his teams, but has never shown enough to play consistently. Phenomenal pace coupled with good tackling always makes his a good choice for a substitute in case a defender goes down with injury.

Ben Turner (1 cap/0 goals): Rappor RB, 18 years old. The youngest defender on the squad, enormous potential. Has played consistently for his club, and Gamman surprised some by calling him up. Still, has the ability to impress in the upcoming World Cup.

MIDFIELD:

Nene (64 caps/25 goals): Inland Peaks (Vilita) LM, 24 years old. Nedalia’s pride and joy, and the Lions leading all-time scorer. Has already earned 64 caps at his young age, with many more still to come. Along with Khadra, the name that pops up most often when talks about the next Nedalia captain spring up. Easily the Lions greatest asset going forward, this young man made Nedalian football history when he signed for Vilitian club Marine Coast United for 29.3 million. Simply magnificent, the best of an extremely talented crop of left wingers available in Nedalia.

Trent Hardman (38 caps/5 goals): Akani Sands (Bettia) DM, 26 years old. Lit up the Bettia Apex League upon his $7.5 million arrival to Akani Sands from Riviera, grabbing a few awards along the way. Just as important to the Lions squad as he is to his club squad. Combines traditional Nedalian attacking prowess with some bone crunching defense. More often than not, the play that begins a Nedalian goal starts from his boots. Another potential candidate for the captaincy after Zenith hangs ‘em up.

Innit Point (53 caps/6 goals): Internashionale (Starblaydia) AM, 25 years old. Was the first player in Nedalian history to play outside of the Nedalian Premier League, making his move to the Liga Starblaydia for $6 million at a very young age. Since then, he has won Young Player of the Year, Midfielder of the Year, and also scored the Season 5 Goal of the Year. He possesses sublime passing skills, but has also become known for his goalscoring for his club side. Phenomenal talent that is only going to get better.

Constantine (15 caps/2 goals): Shoreland United RM, 21 years old. This will be the first campaign this exceptionally quick midfielder starts, and all fingers point to him having a great one. Not only is his pace unmatched, his flair coupled with incredible dribbling skills makes him a fan favorite. Always ready to pull off a trick, he epitomizes what a Nedalian footballer is. Is still not a fulltime starter for his club, although he did score 6 goals and hand out 6 assists this season. Watch out for this one, he is a talent on the rise.

Don Downing (30 caps/3 goals): Carlesa LM/RM, 27 years old. A great talent that could start on nearly any team he played for, yet finds himself on the bench because he plays the same position as Nene. Still gets a lot of playing time because of his versatility, able to slide in anywhere in the midfield.

Houdini (3 caps/1 goal): Shoreland United DM, 19 years old. Houdini is actually the name given to him because of the magic he can create with the ball. Easily the most flamboyant of all the Nedalian players, and that’s saying something.

Khalil Jamhurra (13 caps/1 goal): Rappor AM, 24 years old. Completed a $7 million move to Rappor in the offseason. Solid in every respect, a left footed player with a hell of a shot.

FORWARDS:

Tim James (29 caps/11 goals): Caledon Simpson (Krytenia), 21 years old. The former Dorpar striker just completed a $8.4 million move to the Krytenian club in the offseason, just after he was awarded Premier League Striker of the Year and the prestigious Player of the Year. Perhaps the quickest player on the team, has passing skills and a shot to match. Despite his young age, has moved up in the pecking order to become the first choice for Gamman when it comes to choosing his strikers. Netted in 25 goals for Dorpar last season, to go along with 12 assists.

Chris Yamtech (38 caps/9 goals): Shoreland United, 28 years old. The often injured striker finally looks healthy after a disappointing season in which he only appeared 14 times for his club side. The former Premier League Striker of the Year, however, has never looked in better shape, leading Gamman to select him alongside James as the his starting frontline. On his day, there is no one that can rival his ability to find the goal. Nedalian fans everywhere are hoping he can repay Gamman’s faith with some goals.

Mattan (40 caps/12 goals): Butetown Dragons (Bettia), 27 years old. The enfante terrible of Nedalian football, bar none. Did not feature in the last campaign, but is now making a comeback into the national team after impressing Gamman in his final season with Parkville of Druida ($12 million move). Has since moved on free transfer to Butetown Dragons, joining up with fellow Nedalian Hard Dans. Deadly infront of the goal, his dribbling ability can often leave defenders wondering what happened. That is, if he doesn’t show up to the game high off Nedalian sticky or drunk of some Nedalian rum.

Bader Tayarra (15 caps/2 goals): Gabalfa City (Bettia), 25 years old. Impressed at Gabalfa City after making a $4 million move, leading to his callup to the national team. Has done well for both club and country, and looks to see decent time on the pitch.

Andrew Blod (13 caps/7 goals): Cockbill Street club, 27 years old. Made the $4 million move out of Nedalia, and it paid off well. Started in the absence of Yamtech and Mattan last campaign, bagging a handful of goals. Also looking to see decent time on the pitch.

THE ARCHREGIMANCY BRINGS YOU

THE ARCHREGIMANCY SQUAD

As time passes differently in the Dreamed Realm, the Archregimancy has the luxury of entering an unchanged side from the last World Cup.

For those not in the know, the Archregimancy is a nation of Orthodox (Eastern Orthodox Christian - Russian, Greek, Serb, etc) monks and celibate priests.

COACH:
Metropolitan Kyrill of Solovetsky will be coaching alone. World Cup Hall of Fame member Juan Tzimisces left to coach Alasdair I Frosticus in at the conclusion of the Jeremy Jaffacake Jamboree invitational tournament.

THE STARTING XI:
The Archregimancy plays in an orthodox 4-4-2 formation

GK:
Fr. Justinian the Thrice-Blessed (Pantaleimon): Roundly acknowledged as the best goalkeeper in the Monastic League, Fr. Justinian saved three shots in the penalty shoot-out that decided a recent Pantaleimon v Pantocrator Monastic Cup semi-final.

DEF:
Fr. Michael the New Hermit (Hermits United): On those rare occasions where he actually leaves his small cell high in the mountains to play for his team, Fr. Michael the New Hermit is a left-back of no little skill and refinement.

Fr. Michael the Greater (Troitse-Sergiyeva): His name has nothing to do with his devotion – this towering centre-back is merely several centimetres taller than his namesake and teammate Fr. Michael the Lesser.

Fr. Dmitri the Humble (Pantocrator): While vowed to silence and humility, there’s nothing humble about this centre-backs crunching tackles.

Fr. Michael the Lesser (Troitse-Sergiyeva): Club teammate of Fr. Michael the Greater, and a speedy overlapping right-back fond of taking corners.

MID:
Fr. Andrew the Twice-Found (Vatopedion): This left-winger has had two spells at Vatopedion either side of a spiritual journey through the vast emptiness of the Archregimancy’s desert.

Fr. Polycarp the Venerable [cap] (Simonopetra): Age shall not weary this well-respected central midfielder with a thunderous left foot.

Fr. David the Water-Drinker (Llanilltud Fawr): The only western-rite player on the squad, this central midfielder is renowned for spurning the heretical properties of Gatorade for the spiritually uplifting properties of pure spring water.

Fr. Pavel the Wanderer (Iviron): Iviron’s star right-winger – a celibate priest rather than a monk - often drifts in from the wing in the course of one of his trademark mazy dribbles.

FOR:
Fr. Silouan of the Seventy Caves (Solovetsky): This centre forward’s goalscoring ability is second only to his attention to the Holy Fasts.

Fr. Nicholas the Hermit (Hermits United): Perennial strugglers Hermits United (“Hermits Disunited”, as the not-really-that-funny joke goes) often rely on the goal-scoring miracles of this shy and retiring centre forward.

Squad Photo: http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a319/vakraas/squad.jpg

The team shall be accompanied to away qualifiers by the Holy Icon of the Mother of God, Bringer of Victory, which shall be paraded before the team before all home and away qualifiers.

Home qualifiers shall take place in the Dreamed Stadium, which for the purposes of these qualifiers shall take the form of Mount Sinai - with a 50,000 seat stadium on the inside.

Teams visiting the Archregimancy for qualifying matches are respectfully reminded of the following (repeated from last World Cup, but still applicable):

1) Ordinary physical travel to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. 24 hours before your qualifying matches in the Archregimancy, a representative of the Archregimancy shall arrive in your national stadium (or designated alternative venue) to construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. Your team may travel to the Archregimancy for practice at any point thereafter simply by walking through the portal.

2) You are permitted to bring up to 10,000 supporters to your away qualifiers. They shall be transported directly to the ground through the portal mentioned in 1), above. However, NO RIOTING OR HOOLIGAN BEHAVIOUR SHALL BE TOLERATED. At the slightest sign of violent behaviour, all away supporters shall be immediately transported back to ordinary physical reality. They should consider themselves lucky - citizens of the Archregimancy who sin that badly are often dreamed out of existence.

3) The entire divine liturgy of St. John Chrysostom shall take place before kickoff, after the teams have arrived on the pitch (no sitting permitted). Rest assured that this should only take one and a half to two hours.

4) Heretics, atheists, pagans and freemasons will be permitted into the Archregimancy for the tournament - but that doesn't mean we have to like it.

5) While our praying/meditating monks control the nature of reality in the Archregimancy [OOC: see the wiki entry (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/The_Archregimancy)], we're not going to use this to cheat. All normal rules of football (if playing in a 50,000 seat stadium inside a perfect replica of Mount Sinai can be said to be 'normal') shall be observed. We have, however, decided to remove injuries - all injuries to players on either side in games played in our nation shall be immediately healed. You can still make tactical substitutions, naturally.

OOC: I realise my team might present a role-playing challenge. Rest assured that once they start playing they'll play just like any other team (though they might be a bit more inclined to pray after scoring), so I have no problem with you treating the team like any other if you don't want to deal with the Orthodox element.
Alasdair I Frosticus
07-10-2005, 02:26
Following the recent plague in the Holy Empire, which wiped out all but one member of the squad that defeated Ariddia 6-2 in an exhilarating display of Frosty Football, the Holy Empire has been struggling to put together a team. Only Juan Tzimisces Jr survives from the travelling party.

But for what it’s worth, here’s the squad that WC 2 hosts Alasdair I Frosticus has managed to find for the upcoming Silver Jubilee tournament, the nation’s first entry into the World Cup since WC7. This is a special commemorative one-off appearance by the Holy Empire; Dreamed Realm participation in the tournament will henceforth be restricted to the Archregimancy.

COACH:
World Cup hall of fame member Juan Tzimisces, who recently served as technical adviser to the Archregimancy’s squad.

FORMATION: Frosty football is attacking football. The Holy Empire play 3-5-2, but with attacking wingers, the formation is often closer to 3-3-4 [OOC – style +2]

GK:
Manuel Lascaro – pre-plague, the idea of picking a one-eyed goalkeeper with no depth perception would have been laughable. Post-plague, there’s little choice

DEF:
John Phocaso – 16 year old brilliant future prospect hurled into the limelight before his time through simple necessity.

Juan Tzimisces Jr. - Son of the coach, only plague survivor of the travelling party to Ariddia, and captain by default. Can he carry the entire team on his shoulders? Probably not.

John Ducaso – this 39 year old formerly-retired defender is the opposite of John Phocaso: a former genius well past his prime.

MID:
Alexius Palaeologo – One-armed right winger. At least he’s not one-legged.

Carlos Vatatzes – Two months ago he was playing Saturday-afternoon recreational football in a Chaco sandlot. Now circumstances have forced him into the big time.

Constantine Comneno – Fans around the Holy Empire were asking “who?” when he was named to the squad. Two weeks on, they’re still asking the same question.

Jorge Diogenes – Another Chacan. Another non-entity plucked from obscurity.

Romanus Ducaso – The cousin of John Ducaso, Romanus was actually once on the fringe of the original international squad, and only failed to travel to Ariddia due to a minor suspension for stabbing a referee to death during the match. Has been released from solitary confinement for the tournament.

FOR:
Basil Lecapeno – Solid but unspectacular forward known for missing more penalties than any other forward in the history of the Imperial League Premiership.

Attilio Diocles – Just where do they find all of these obscure Chacans anyway?

Kit (home left, change right): http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a319/vakraas/frosticus.jpg

There are no substitutes. Such is the sudden dearth of players wanting to play international football in the wake of the plague, that it’s the starting XI or nothing.

IMPORTANT: due to new quarantine restrictions in place in the Holy Empire following the plague, Alasdair I Frosticus will be playing all of its home matches in the Archregimancy.

The Bedistan Lions play a 3-5-2, or a moderately attacking (+1) formation.

goalkeepers

1. Tom Pratt (34, GK) - Alexandria Porcupines
Certainly the best goalkeeper in Bedistan, finally coming into his own after having to fill the shoes of the great Nick Reagan. His fantastic saves helped Alexandria to win their third league championship in five years.

12. Sherman Locke-Holmes (24, GK) - Jamaica Giants
A very good goalkeeper, almost sure to be first in line for the starting slot once Tom Pratt retires. Some of his saves in the league tend to leave spectators wondering, "How the heck did he do that?"

23. Nina Gutiérrez (26, GK) - Eastfield Rogues
Gutiérrez served as Bedistan's goalkeeper in the first Paul Dussis Memorial Cup, but hasn't really done much else of note.

defenders

2. James Malone (26, D LR) - Cednia Beach AFC (Vilita)
James executes his moves with his own personal style that tends to catch opposing forwards off guard, which he used to full effect in the first PDMC. In the tough competition to replace the great Quentin Phillips, Malone was able to show himself to have the slight extra edge over the other candidates.

3. Lauren Gunn (26, D LCR) - Casuals New Osteria (Krytenia)
Perhaps the most versatile defender in the Bedistan Premier League before heading west to Krytenia, she can play with full effect pretty much anywhere on the back line. She does occasionally suffer from a lapse in concentration, though, but that's getting better all the time.

4. Gina Zamboni (30, D LR) - Grakh'nakh K'druz'ba (Cockbill Street)
Gina is one of the team's most energetic players, and she will pretty much never have a problem going the full ninety minutes and putting in just as much effort at the end as at the beginning.

13. Ryan Talbot (31, D C) - Vimesbairn Athletic (Cockbill Street)
Bedistan's defenders are usually a quiet bunch, and Ryan Talbot is no exception. He'll get the job done on the back line with no complaints and no problems.

14. Gordon Porter (31, D C) - Irkutsk (Hockey Canada)
One of the Lions' stockier players, speed can be a small problem for him sometimes, but it's usually nothing to worry about, as he nevertheless proves a formidable obstacle for any opposing attacker.

15. Lisa Alejo (26, D C) - Charleston FC
Still a developing player, she's probably unlikely to see a starting slot any time soon.

22. Washington Bragg (26, D L) - Tallahassee Blues
A decidedly eccentric individual, he has very different ideas of how the left wingback position should be played, and they're not always good ideas. He does have some international experience, but not much.

midfielders

5. Michael Porter (26, M L) - Sokojiwa City FC
A left winger with some experience from the first PDMC, as well as being a rapidly-developing talent in one of the fastest-rising teams in Bedistan today.

6. Pat Romano (26, M CR) - FC Almintora (Turori)
Makes an excellent midfield partner for Tara Stalls, but is able to work well with most. A transplanted Hamptonian who lived in Dennis briefly before moving to Vilita, he has learned to become comfortable in widely differing environments.

7. Sara Westinghouse (25, M CR) - Alexandria Porcupines
As you can see, Bedistan has a bit of a glut of young world-class midfielders, with Westinghouse being good enough to command a starting place in the current best club in Bedistan. She didn't make the cut for a starting role last time, but with some of the older players moving on, she finally gets her chance to shine.

8. Tara Stalls (26, M CR) - Yeaddin Owls AFC (Vilita)
Quite possibly one of the most successful products of Bedistan's youth academy ever, Tara became one of the youngest players in history to play for the Lions in World Cup 23 qualifying at age eighteen. Full of energy and charisma, it is expected that she will remain the shining star of the team's midfield for several Cups.

9. Greg Moon (27, M R) - Hallad Reavers (Starblaydia)
In what was admittedly an extremely difficult decision to choose the starting right winger, Greg's performance in pre-qualifying training managed to give him the very slight edge over Pat Romano and Sara Westinghouse. He's still a young developing talent, but a solid one nevertheless.

16. Rebecca Humboldt (25, M C) - New Haverford Albion
Surprising is perhaps the best word to describe this midfielder - she came from nowhere to become one of the most recognizable faces in the BPL after being arguably the driving force in getting Albion promoted. Bedistan's midfield depth being what it is, she is still an extremely apt player despite not getting a starting role.

17. Zack Vincent (27, M L) - Beverington Hawks (Nova Britannicus)
No additional information available

18. Alex Xian (36, M R) - Rolestu FC
No additional information available

19. Marie Hammer (26, M L) - San Solari FC
No additional information available

forwards

10. Billy English (26, F C) - Floral FC
This player is the absolute embodiment of self-confidence. Occasionally he'll let that self-confidence go too far, though, and as a result many often accuse him of arrogance. But pretty much nobody can deny that he is one of Bedistan's best young strikers.

11. Tony Orr (33, F C) - Harewood FC (Cockbill Street)
Though he's getting on in years just slightly, Orr remains a highly competent finisher, and not lacking in speed either.

20. Joshua Norton (32, F C) - Alexandria Porcupines
Known as "the Emperor" to his friends, Norton has been one of the most important players for a high-flying Porcupines squad in the last several years. It was thought that he would be Vantrease's successor as a starting forward in World Cup 25, but Tony Orr's experience allowed him to keep the position.

21. Tommy Bob Valentín (25, F C) - Rolestu FC
Tommy Bob was regularly ridiculed as a child for his name, and as a result he was inspired to greater athletic ability so that he could beat up his enemies. But not only did he become strong, he gained great agility as well, and if he's good enough to be a starter for Rolestu, that should tell you something.

The Bureaucratic Tribune

Ostriches WC25 roster
Horribly belated, Oglethorpia has finally released the Oglethorpia Ostriches World Cup 25 roster. In an unprecedented unanimous vote by both the House of Homosapiens and the House of Human Beings on the issue (each comprised of 900 seats), the legislature voted to keep the national side's nickname exactly as it was at the beginning of World Cup 24.

"Just because they qualified," explained Premier Hugo Gurkemann, "doesn't mean they can't really screw up this Cup. That's why they probably opted to keep the Ostriches name for at least one more Cup."

Still, the Ostriches hope to fail to live up to their present nickname.

That said, here is the slightly belated roster in wonderfully formatted fashion;

Manager/Coach/Head Moral Supporter: Torrence Black (83)
Formation: 3-5-2

Goal:
Hip Replac (age 33, Avidia City F.C. [Krytenia])
Defense:
Jim Seasons (age 35, SpVgg Stuttergart)
Ed Head (age 31, Steerford United)
Les Potbell (age 39, Steerford United)
Half-field:
Cletus van Mistletoe (age 32, Polyesterhampton F.C)
Luud van Mistletoe (age 32, Sheffingham United)
Harry Falls (age 27, Sheffingham Rovers)
Billiam Christmas Jr. (age 34, SpVgg Stuttergart)
Offense:
Anton Kremlov (age 32, unsigned)
Mel Memorable (age 34, Polyesterhampton F.C.)
Coat MacHanger (age 43, Megalopolis City F.C.)

As for the substitutes, and additionally, Sam Vaughmoot, Frank Lee, Al Duck, Ivan Thompson and Bill Swaggins serve as quite-likely-never-to-be-used substitutes. Woe is them.

Oglethorpia's Ostriches hope to make a second qualification following the World Cup 24 breakthrough.

THE SQUAD

GOALKEEPERS

1. James BARCALI (39, GK, Ousevale Borough) @
Caps: 44 Goals: 0
The veteran Boro stopper returns for his swansong appearance. Unless he does a Vernazza….

13. Todd COLFOX (37, GK, Stanton Town)
Caps: 4 Goals: 0
The former Nova Mercian keeper carries on regardless, despite a certain Mr Barcali denying him caps.

22. Nick PAPADOPOLOUS (20, GK, Bradwell Saints)
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Saints’ young stopper is highly rated by the new boss – a possible future name.

DEFENDERS

2. Tom PORTER (31, RB, Kallia United)
Caps: 22 Goals: 0
Mercian-born but matured at Kallia, Porter has become a formidable full-back. Age, however, has taken off a little pace.

3. Stephen GREENOW (25, LB, Ousevale Borough) @
Caps: 8 Goals: 0
In the Nova Mercia ‘B’ squad at the tender age of 13, Greenow has matured well since his move to Ousevale.

5. Lyle LOVITZ (30, CB, Neathill Town) @ (Capt)
Caps: 28 Goals: 1
DVS’ first Team Captain, Lovitz is the rock in the new Krytenian defence.

6. Cameron STEVENSON (19, CB, Avidia City) @
Caps: 1 Goals: 0
The teenager who is the reason Balt Luyckx is crying off at Sixways, and one of the few bright spots in City’s dismal Overleague season.

15. Luke PINDORIANO (20, CB, Caledon Simpson)
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
With a winner’s medal round his neck, and a trophy girlfriend on his arm, life is good for the Caledon youngster.

16. Vernon POLYAKH (27, RB, Patriots Everton) @
Caps: 1 Goals: 0
An exciting young full-back, Polyakh has the potential to be a giant in the position. Potential he has proved at club level only – so far.

20. Zack STARKOV (16, LB, Caledon Simpson)
Caps: 1 Goals: 0
Starkov is another of the young unknowns who helped Caledon lift the Overleague title – indeed, the youngest of the lot at just sixteen!

21. Adam VAN WALDHUIS (26, CB, Dereapolis City)
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Another untried player brought in by Van Staveren as he juggles his defensive pack.

MIDFIELDERS

4. Oliver KADER (30, RM/CM, Davisham Town) @
Caps: 8 Goals: 1
Has bade his time well – for his club, he is a true diamond in the rough.

7. Nick CARAIANI (34, CM, Pylos Reavers (HYP))
Caps: 7 Goals: 1
Thought by many to be ordinary, Caraiani has flourished in the Hypocrian Hyper League, a fact he proved on his recent loan spell at Linford.

8. David SIGNORIELLO (31, LM, Ousevale Borough) @
Caps: 5 Goals: 1
Finally gets his chance after spending many years in the shadow of Stuart Persson.

12. Andrew PEDROSO (23, LM, Notegia Rangers)
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Sprightly winger Pedroso is Notegia’s first international squad member since James Barcali jumped ship for Ousevale.

14. John TEREZZI (28, CM, Everton City Reds) @
Caps: 1 Goals: 0
An exciting midfielder, his strength, unusually, is heading, and for this reason he’s been likened to Crystilakere’s Filippo Ferraro.

19. Simon ZIOV (29, RM, Neathill Town)
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
The former Ousevale player has won many fans at the Q-Soft Stadium.

“THE HOLE”

10. Kevin KEDA (29, AM/CF, Hypocrium City) @
Caps: 31 Goals: 9
Deep-set striker who links up well with Gabe Kennedy.

18. Geoff MERCKX (24, AM/CF, Ellisham Wanderers)
Caps: 0 Goals: 0
Of Spruit heritage but born in Diorville, Merckx has emerged as an excellent playmaker at Ellisham.

FORWARDS

9. Phillip NEASDEN (39, CF, Everton City Reds)
Caps: 44 Goals: 36
Some of the pace may have gone, but Neasden is still a force in the national side, and is Krytenia’s record international goalscorer to boot.

11. Gabriel KENNEDY (22, CF, Stanton Town) @
Caps: 8 Goals: 7
The sensation of World Cup XXIV, scoring a goal a game in the Aces’ run to third place. All this, and still only in his early twenties.

17. Robin SPIVEY (26, RM, Mercia Bromham) @
Caps: 1 Goals: 0
Exploded onto the domestic scene last season – can he turn this form into international goals?

23. Morgan BARTRUM (29, CF, Sukatra Tigers (BET))
Caps: 1 Goals: 0
A series of excellent seasons in the Bettian League has seen Bartrum replace the ineffective Ray Lausano in the squad.

Likely Starters:
Barcali
Polyakh - Stevenson - Lovitz - Greenow
Kader - Terezzi - Signoriello
Keda
Spivey - Kennedy

Subs: Colfox, Porter, Pindoriano, Caraiani, Ziov, Merckx, Neasden.
Reserves: Papadopolous, Starkov, Van Waldhuis, Pedroso, Bartrum.

World Cup: CHEAT announces Capitalizts’ World Cup 25 roster
PRONTERA, CH—The CHEAT Alliance, new owner of the Commerce Heights Capitalizts, announced the squad that would represent the nation in the twenty-fifth World Cup. Unlike the World Cup 24 squad, the selections were not limited by the teams in the C4™ Champions League™, so players of all ethnicities were able to participate. “It was our goal from the start to ensure that the team representing us in the World Cup was truly representative of the entire nation,” said team manager Brad Liang. “I think we’ve succeeded in that, using the gaps left by retirees to extend the scope of the Capitalizts to eight of the ten states.” The complete roster is printed below, for your convenience:

This is An Archist News, your official Station for the NS World Cup.

Patty Paterson: After coming in third at the Baptism of Fire Cup, the An Archist will look to duplicate that success in the World Cup qualifying games. Soccer experts say that despite the outcome in the Baptism of Fire a great challenge lies ahead for this young team.

John Johnson: Yes, Patty, it will be quite a challenge for the An Archists to qualify for the World Cup. These teams are all very skilled and very experienced. It's one thing to play Pastorville and quite another to play at team like Kaze Progressa.

Patty Paterson: It does sound like these players will have their hands full. To our knowlede, the schedule for qualifying has not been released but we do have the roster for the An Archists. It is the same as the roster used for the Baptism of Fire Cup.

Coach:

Clark Clarkson- A professional soccer coach at the youth level for many years, Andy Anderson has hired him to coach the senior team. Although his knowledge of soccer strategy is less than first rate coaches his ability to teach the game is tremendous.

Defenders

Fredrick Fredrickson: A great young player who competed in the Under 21 World Cup. He is probably the toughest guy in An Archy. He once killed five guys just by giving them a mean look.

Vinny Vinson: A talented veteran who simply doesn't make mistakes. He can shut down even the best strikers in An Archy.

Hender Henderson: The best defender in the nation. If he can't stop you noone can.

Mid Fielders

Sam Samson: Very tall but not very skilled, coach Clarkson is sure to work on that second part. Samson is on the team to win headers and he will.

Jimmy Jameson: Jameson has great stamina. He could play for 180 minutes. Perhaps the most important member of the team.

Albert Albertson: Probably the weakest link on this roster. Expect opponents to take advantage of this all around poor player.

Forwards

William Williamson: A famous An Archist rapper who is now known around the world for his athleticism in soccer. His performance in the Under 21 World Cup made coach Clarkson take notice and give him the starting job on the senior team.

Erick Erickson: The best young striker in An Archy. Erickson may one day be the best player in the world. That day, however, is yet to come.

Harry Harrison: Team Captain. The best striker on the team. If this team does well, it will be because of this man.

Johnny Johnson: Son of well known sports commentator John Johnson. He has been playing soccer his whole life and the level of experience shows. He will put in a solid performance in this cup.

Goal Keeper

Robert Robertson: If he isn't high he's one of the best goal keepers in the world. Unfortunately, he'll be high. He's still pretty good, though.

This has been a presentation of An Archist News, the official station of the NS World Cup.

The Giant Zucchini Zucchinis

Note: Roster is susceptible to change throughout qualifying

Coach: James Gorton – 61
Started his coaching career at Anglo FC, he only lasted 3 matches, after which he was hastily called up by the Football Association after an unexpected but welcome acceptance into World Cup 25. In his brief tenure at Anglo, he notched up 2 wins, and climbed up to second in the table. However, his ability at the highest level has yet to be tested.

Starting 11

GK: Bobby Laredo (Anglo FC) – 24
Widely touted as the best goalkeeper in Giant Zucchini. Among his greatest strengths are his fitness and his passing. However, his handling and positioning are not to be underestimated either. However, critics say he does not come off his line fast enough.

RB: Modest Kaganovich (FC Spartak Vostochno) – 25
Above average right back, with good heading ability despite his lack of height. Also does not shirk in the tackle. However, his lack of strength may be used against him.

CB: Ludwig Dürer (Deutsch SV) - 36
The oldest player to be called up to the National Team, Dürer makes up for his age and height with his ability and strength. Another brilliant header of the ball, Dürer is also blessed with the speed of a cheetah, as well as a good pass.

CB: Domingo Ferrero (Iberia CF) – 32 (Captain)
Another quick, strong centre back, Ferrero also has a good touch of the ball, as well as a decent shot and pass. Also, he has an efficient tackle that wins the ball most of the time, yet rarely concedes any fouls. However, he is rather injury prone and lacking in fitness.

LB: Carlos Corretja (Iberia CF) – 20
Despite claims that he is the weak link of the team, Corretja is an all-rounded full back with few weaknesses. He has a crunching tackle and good fitness, although he might be a bit lacking in pace on the flank.

RM: Gottlieb Poulsen (Nordic IF) – 21
Poulsen is a wizard with the ball at his feet. His feet are capable of stuff that many only dream of in their sleep. He also has a decent burst of speed and an accurate pass. However, his shooting leaves much to be desired, and he has admitted to barely heading the ball in his footballing history. Also, despite his silky skills, he can be pushed off the ball rather easily. However, he has time on his side.

CM: Armand Boyer (Gallo FC) – 21
One of the brightest prospects of the generation, Boyer has nary a weak link in his game, possibly only his heading and his pace slightly lacking. Other than that, he has amazing fitness and strength for a young lad, and a confident tackle. He also has above average shooting, passing, and decent control of the ball. Look for him to take NationStates by storm in the near future as he nears his peak.

LM: Mikhail Glinka (FC Spartak Vostochno) - 27
An all rounded winger, Glinka has the passing ability to pick players out in the box, as well as the dribbling ability and pace to leave defenders in his dust, and the stamina to do it up to the final second of extra time. However, his shooting is barely average, and physically he is easily overpowered by strong opposition.

RF: Mark Barry (Anglo FC) – 30
The aging Mark Barry has been given the chance to shine for the Zucchinis by coach Gorton. Despite lacking physically, Barry has amazing acceleration and blistering pace, as well as a knack of dispossessing defenders. He also has good control of the ball, good heading with a decent height advantage, and a fine shot.

CF: Johann Rilke (Deutsch SV) – 17
A glimpse of the future of Giant Zucchini. Despite the occasional misguided pass and his annoying knack of losing the ball in promising situations, Rilke has a pinpoint accurate shot and decent heading ability under his afro, as well as more than sufficient pace. Despite a seeming inability to score in the Premiership, Gorton has expressed faith in the teenager, and he will be looking to repay that faith.

LF: Benno Rimsky-Korsakov (FC Spartak Vostochno) – 28
One of the finest goal-poachers in the country, ‘BRK’, as he is commonly known, has the pace to beat defenders, and one of the hardest and most accurate shots ever seen. Even though his game is one-dimensional; he struggles to get the ball under his control, his tackles rarely amount to anything, his heading is woeful, and truth be told he is rarely seen anywhere else other than the penalty box; but what he does, he does with ruthless efficiency, and almost no one can stop him scoring when he is on his game.

Bench

GK: Xie Siak Kee (Sino FC) – 28
The safest hands in Giant Zucchini, Xie has impressed in his recent performances for Sino FC. However, critics point to his occasionally questionable positioning and rushing out decisions.

CB: Luc François Paoli (Gallo FC) – 29
A quick defender with a crunching tackle and a powerful head. However, he lacks ball control and his lack of strength could prove to be a liability to the side.

RB: Carl Hiedler (Deutsch SV) – 31
Blistering pace, pinpoint passing ability, and accurate and powerful heading with a good height advantage as well. Pity the injury-proneness, lack of stamina, questionable tackling and poor touch.

CM: Louis Pétion (Gallo FC) – 34
A hard tackler, Pétion also has good dribbling and passing ability. However, he is sluggish and weak.

RF: Carl Hohenzollern (Deutsch SV) – 28
Hohenzollern rounds off an experienced bench with a combination of strength, a fierce shot, good ball control and decent tackling. However, his passing leaves much to be desired, and the less said about his heading the better.

Reserves

GK: Edgardo García (Iberia CF) – 19
Promising up-and-coming goalkeeper.

CF: Dino Nuvolari (AC Romanic) – 22
Quick goal-poacher with good shooting and heading.

RB: Tommi Nevanlinna (Nordic IF) – 33
Experienced speedy wingback. Known for his blond corn-rows.

RM: Fra di ser Tartini (AC Romanic) – 17
Quick dribbler in the same vein as Poulsen.

LB: Tan Yiu Yao (Sino FC) – 25
Quick, strong fullback with the eye for a pass.

RM: Gregorio Cancel (Iberia CF) – 33
All rounded right winger with pace and a good cross.

Cockbill Street

Cockbill Street Squad - World Cup 25

Goalkeepers:

1. Sam Peterson, aged 34, av rating 5.84, Grakh'nakh K'druz'ba*
One last hurrah for Sam, not related to Olivia and Alex - a rock at the back, whose brilliant goalkeeping often repaired lackadaisical attitudes in the back four

13.Frank Sparrow, aged 25, av rating 5.44, K'haz'bak K'druz'ba
Sparrow is a quiet worker between the sticks - he'll give you a highly decent performance but lacks the brilliance in diving and reflexes often served up by the more senior options, Peterson and Boys

21.Adam Boys, aged 25, av rating 5.88, R'dhuz'lith K'druz'ba
Boys got three games in World Cup 24 qualifying after injuries cut Niall Wotherspoon's career short - he performed admirably, just as he does in the Compound League, and he is expected to get plenty of games, although Peterson's experience makes him first choice

Defenders:

2. Alexander Boiling, aged 32, av rating 5.76, central defender, Roegrow Athletic*
Boiling has been hailed as the greatest defensive talent to play in the Compound League since Melmondian Veronica Dean, yet refuses to put in consistent performances for the national side. Experience has not made him wiser

3. Ivar Groinbiter, aged 19, av rating 5.55, central defender, Vimesbairn Athletic
Little brother of Olaf, he was picked up by Athletic since Grakh'nakh already had an abundance of young defenders. In his first season of the Compound League, he impressed Andrews enough to gain a call-up

4. Olaf Groinbiter, aged 25, av rating 5.82, full back, Grakh'nakh K'druz'ba*
Ivar's big brother (see above), Olaf has grown into a natural partner for Adcook after Orson Kent was dropped for showing "Karelan tendencies". Kent is now considering turning out for System Karela, while Olaf's presence in the national team is guaranteed - he actually moves up the wing once or twice, too

16.Thorstein Stonelover, aged 32, av rating 5.74, central defender, K'haz'bak K'druz'ba
Stonelover is a classic central defender - excellent tackling skills, reasonable with the ball in his legs, and has some good long passes. Yet, his unimpressive technique has seen him gain few caps for the national team

19.Chris Adcook, aged 27, av rating 5.84, right back, Everton City Reds (Krytenia)*
Adcook has gone through all the motions, from Vimesbairn United U-15 to Everton City Reds in Krytenia, and finally to a regular team spot. He's a quick fellow with good dribbling skills, and useful on the wing in a pickle.

20.Einar Bergowner, aged 24, av rating 5.62, right/left back, Grakh'nakh K'druz'ba*
Hardly the man everyone would prefer on the back, Bergowner is an often erratic, but on his day brilliant full back. However, those days are few and far between

Midfielders:

5. Lars Bootstealer, aged 26, av rating 5.72, left winger, R'dhuz'lith K'druz'ba
Bootstealer was recognised as a massive talent from the age of 14, when he turned out for R'dhuz'lith Juniors in the Cockbill Street Youth Cup final, with an upper age limit of 19. He stagnated slightly during his early twenties due to an attitude problem and a girlfriend, but has rallied magnificently

6. Irene Miller, aged 26, av rating 5.99, winger, Swans United (Chicanadan WomensLiga)*
Irene was called up to the Under-21 team at 16, and immediately recognised as a talent. After several years on the bench of Athletic, she moved to the women's league in Chicanada, where she completely dominates. She was an integral part of the Street's World Cup 24 success - although evil tongues suggest that's exactly why no one cared

8. Iret Hiria, aged 32, av rating 5.81, winger, A'grah'wah K'druz'ba (Turorian ancestry)
A surprise call-up to replace the retired Robertson, Hiria has been the forgotten man by the Turorian selectors, and when Andrews discovered that Hiria had been in the country for ten years she immediately asked him to file the citizenship application form. After a year of bureaucratic squabbling, Hiria made his debut in a friendly match with System Karela, and had two assists in the match where Orson Kent played one half as a Streetian and the other as a Karelan

11.Succinite, aged 33, av rating 5.80, right winger/central midfielder, Rizh'peith K'druz'ba*
The Rizh'peith man has been selected because a) they need someone from the best club in the Street in recent years and b) they need someone who can play at central midfield. Succinite has hardly got the technical brilliance, but is a defensive balancing act in a strong attacking side

12.Marcus Tripton, aged 36, av rating 5.62, left winger, Cefn Bus Station (Druidan PL)
After a major transfer mess-up, Cefn Bus Station got to buy Marcus Tripton from a Starblaydi side, who had been owning the rights to the player for a couple of years without anyone at Harewood noticing. Tripton is still going strong on the bench for the national side, his unwavering belief in his own skill only matched by his ineptitude to do anything with the right foot

14.Bjorn Spearwielder, aged 26, av rating 5.92, left winger, Mission (Chicanada)*
Spearwielder is a player with excellent pace and a good crossing foot, and four years with Mission in Chicanada has only made him a more well-rounded player. However, there is plenty of competition for the winger's spot, and Spearwielder's spot is probably the one under threat - seeing as the Inquirer suggests a love-affair between coach Andrews and the other winger, Irene Miller

15.Howard Beacham, aged 27, av rating 5.71, attacking midfielder, Harewood FC
Beacham has failed to really impress after the stunning season with 18 assists that saw him called up to the national side, but still hangs around the bench and, on his day, can put in some match-winning performances

22.Jim Chapman, aged 20, av rating 5.85, attacking/central midfielder, FC Swyton*
Swyton have finally uncovered gold, and this young lad could be shaping the future of Streetian football, along with Boys, Groinbiter, Miller and Peterson. A well-rounded player talent-wise, who still lacks international experience, but few doubts that Andrews will not be fielding this gemstone in the first eleven come the qualifiers

Attackers:

9. Liam Williams, aged 30, av rating 5.82, striker, Roegrow Athletic
A mostly consistent striker who sometimes can pull off the most amazing feats. Yet, his role is mainly to stuff the ball in the net from three yards

10.Olivia Peterson, aged 28, av rating 5.91, striker, Chesham Rangers*
Olivia, daughter of Alexander, is now the next Peterson. Four goals in four World Cup matches settled the matter easily, along with a bucketload of goals in qualifying. The family goalscoring record of 43 is in danger - Olivia currently has 28 in all World Cup matches

17.James Chitterling, aged 33, av rating 6.12, striker, Jhanna United (Liga Starblaydia)*
Chitterling has finally blossomed for his club side, putting in 15-20 goals each season. This means that he will probably still be first choice partner to Peterson, as the Street move back from 3-4-3 to 4-4-2

18.Ian Barnsdale, aged 26, av rating 5.87, forward, K'haz'bak K'druz'ba
Barnsdale is in because he's guaranteed to be Peterson's partner for the next qualifying session, and possibly for some of the unimportant games here as well. The human has settled in well at K'haz'bak, as the Streetian team continues to be less and less effnic

23.Geirr Axewielder, aged 25, av rating 5.75, striker, Grakh'nakh K'druz'ba
Axewielder was regarded as even more talented than Barnsdale, but has struggled to put that into goals in the league, and despite playing for one of the strongest teams his talent has never really showed off

G'irgah:

Christine Andrews, aged 47
Taking over the team in confused conditions in the home World Cup 21, she's led the team to a third place play-off and a quarter-final. Yet, she's under constant fire from the C-mail and the Inquirer journalists, who can't understand what she's done to get the job ahead of them

Elrich
20-11-2005, 11:59
Following a 6-month strike from the Elrichian press, over the right to post nudity on the front page of their papers a compromise has finally been reached between the Government and the Press -

In an announcement today, home secretary Homer Secretaire had this to say,

"Following months of strikes and discussion and argument, The Press and the Government have thankfully come to an agreement over the right to place nudity on the front page of newspapers around the country. The New Law states that a maximum of 1 nipple per front page may be shown, and any press found violating this law will be banned from printing."

bla bla bla

Anyway, more importantly this finally means that the Elrichian people can discover how their team is doing at World Cup 24..... or the Cup of Harmony????? oh wait, World Cup 25

Here is the roster, to play in a NORMAL style (standard or whatever)

NATION REJOICES AS ELRICH IS INCLUDED IN NATIONAL SQUAD

STAFFhttp://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/John_Spinks/bassett.jpg

MANAGER - MIKE BASSETT
Previous Managerial Posts - Peterborough, Norwich, England, Wirral County
Bio - After famously guiding England to the semi final of the Brazilian World Cup, Bassett was greeted back home in his native country as a hero, and he famously announced he would continue the role as manager for "4 more years". Sadly, this never materialised as the FA announced that they would not be offering Bassett a new contract. The Government of Elrich saw their opportunity and beat off fierce competition to sign Bassett as National Manager in June 2005. A Baptism of Fire and a World Cup qualifying campaign later the jury is still out on Bassett. He's like marmite, you love him or you hate him - his team are inconsistant to say the least.

Preferred Formation - Four, Four, F****** Two

ASSISTANT - Dave Dodds
COACHES - Zoltan Pepper and Pete Zaria
PHYSIO - Wilma Leggrowback

THE SQUAD

1 GORDON BURNS
This famous news presenter and ex-presenter of the Krypton Factor has his own cult following back home in his native Elrich known as Team GB. Gordon is a favourite with the Elrich crowd and expecially the song-writers. Burns is calm and collected with safe hands and incredible shot stopping ability. Has impressed in his international exploits so far
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/John_Spinks/gordonburns.jpg

2 BARRY SCOTT
Fresh from his advertising exploits with Cillit Bang, the Badger's fullback is famous for his stout, resolute defending and attacking flair. Despite a knee injury which has kept him out of action for the past 2 months Barry reassures the press that he is GOOD AS NEW!!!
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/John_Spinks/barryscott.jpg

3 DANNY ADAMS
Ex Postman and Macclesfield Town legend, the no-nonsense shaven headed meathead offers some of the hardest tackling in the game. Although he is not known for attacking brilliance, he plays it simple and keeps possession for the team. His aggression and defensive abilitys make him an important part of the Badger's backline, although his place in the team is now questioned by some after some dissapointing club form.

4 VINNIE JONES
Some have questioned his eligibility to represent Elrich, but none can question his playing abilities. Vinnie is famous for his scary tackling and for grabbing Paul Gascoignes testicles. However, Jones must quickly learn that in this side, he is second fiddle to Elrich himself in his celebrity status.

5 PETER SPINKS
The younger of the Spinks brothers, the stocky centre-half is respected for organising the Badger's backline, as well as his own tackling and heading attributes. The no-nonsense defender's motto is "If in doubt, hoof it out". However he is renowned for the odd flash of brilliance.

6 ROBIN BANKS
Surprise inclusion, but only due to the fact he has been allowed to leave his sentence at the National State prison for the second time in successive World Cups to join up with the squad. There is no doubting Banks' on-field fiery ability, but it is off the field where his record is less impressive. Banks was, until his call-up, serving another two-year sentence due to his part in an attempted Bank Robbery. On the pitch the central midfielder is a great ballwinner, strong in the tackle and uses his physical ability to the edge of the laws, and sometimes beyond them.

7 MATTHEW "DIDDY" ALLEN
The 4 foot wonderkid is only 16 years of age but has burst onto the international scene with a bang. His useful knack of being able to run through defenders legs can only be to his advantage, but he is not exactly an aerial threat. The right winger is renowned for his dribbling and crossing.

8 JOHN SPINKS
The fiery red-head midfielder in his earlier days was thought to be named SKNIPS due to a printing error on his shirt, where his name was spelt backwards. The elder of the Spinks brothers contributes goals and assists from midfield and forms a useful partnership with the more defensive Robin Banks.

81 ELRICH (C)
Legend. The King and leader of the country will carry the nations hopes on his shoulders. Although not physically built for such a sport, it is his intelligence which makes him special, he sees things others cannot, and his finishing is unchallenged. His incredible footballing exploits abroad with Busan Icons earned him such Heroic status that not a street, but the Nation itself was named after him, and he was announced leader of his Kingdom. All time leading goalscorer.
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/John_Spinks/Elrich.jpg

11 JAMIE MUDGE
From non-league obscurity to the national side in the matter of minutes, the Tiverton Town striker was a surprise addition to the World Cup 24 squad. Despite from being far from a house-hold name in Elrich, the young striker scored an immense 59 goals in his clubs promotion through the non-league ranks. His loyalty to his hometown club has been incredible, bordering on insane. He has turned down offers to join Premier League sides the Real Deal and Scumchester United and manager Mike Bassett insisted that Nudge had the talent to perform on the big stage. Bassett was proved right, a sensation at the World Cup 24 qualifiers Mudgie is now an established figure in the side and may be the key to World Cup 25 qualification.
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/John_Spinks/Mudge2.jpg

99 ZEBEDEE
The dazzling, skilful and tricky winger is from Brazilian descent and his dazzling skills quite literally dazzle everyone. Despite often being laughed at by opposition fans for his thin "chickenish" legs, he is a real Bobby Dazzler (except he's not called Bobby). His golden boots do half the dazzling for him. Often decides to dazzle an extra 5 players for the fun of it rather than having a shot.
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/John_Spinks/Zebedee.jpg

SUBS

10 JIMMY GRIMBLE
He no longer needs his magic boots and the Manchester City youngster despite not breaking into his club team, has already established himself as supporting striker for his national side. His skills and pace are legendary. Last years fallout with a set of Elrichian fans after continually being shouted at to "Pass it to bloody Elrich" appear to have now ended. Despite a reasonable international record, the emergence of Jamie Mudge has pushed Grimble back onto the bench.
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/John_Spinks/JimmyGrimble.jpg

12 GEZ MURPHY
Talented both footed winger, who can play on the left or right. His flair and set-pieces often make him a useful option to turn a game around from the bench.

13 HUBERT BUSBY JNR
This 1 eyed, 1 legged, 1 armed goalkeeper was always the last to be picked at school. The people of Elrich pray he will not be called into action. Elrich insists that Busby's 5,000,000 donation to the National FA was nothing to do with his inclusion in the squad.

14 RICHARD HODGINS
SUBMARINE, SUBMARINE, He's the famous Richard Hodgins and he lives in a Submarine, SUBMARINE, SUBMARINE, he's the famous Richard Hodgins and he lives in a Submarine. What the Navy FC midfielder lacks in footballing ability, he more than makes up for with his legendary song. A National Hero.

15 DAN SINGH-QUEEN
Although his celebrations make Michael Jackson look like Scooby Doo, the agile striker has yet to really get going with the national side. He finally opened his account for the Badgers in World Cup 24 - albeit after having made a complete fool of himself impressively celebrating 3 disallowed goals earlier in the tournament.
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b274/John_Spinks/DanSingh-Queen.jpg

16 FRANK N'STEIN
The huge, intimidating defender, famous for his green skin has established himself as a useful member of the Elrich Squad. Despite lacking pace, and..well a brain, his brute strength and aerial prowess at 8 feet make him a useful option against route one opposition.

With Angelica winning the inaugral NH League Cup, they have provided a number of players in the world cup squad.

Led by the extremely level-headed Corpus United Goal Keeper Perry Danish, the Sharks (as affectionately known) are confident of a strong performance in their first world cup.

Amongst the players to watch, is the lightning fast and sometimes magical Jet Free or 'Freaky' as he is known to fans. A little more consistency could see Free become one of the greats of the NH team after already contributing in Angelica's outstanding form this year.

Youngster Hamish Marsh, at just 19, has been included in the side after a strong debut season with Corpus, leading their scoring. He is debuting along with substitutes, Steven Wakefield (Rainville) and Keiren Sporn (Pennin).

But it seems the hopes of a nation ride on one man and one man alone. Holbacka's star midfielder Brodie Steele is the creator in the team, a man who can turn a match in the blink of an eye. Winner of the NHSL Player of the Year, the expectations of a nation will rely on his performance.

Harry Castle has a largely youthful squad with speed and skill, however the lack of big-game experience will be the true test for the side. Castle was recently quoted as saying, "...we may be new to the Cup, but we have the talent to eclipse any side and with a few games under our belt, we are sure to become one of the sides to beat..... those nations that are household names best do their research or risk becoming the victims of complacency! Expect some upsets!"
