Khallayne

Rystal, The Imperial Capital:
Inside the massive 300 mile complex known as the Imperial City, a mass of palaces, temples, goverment buildings all surrounded by 100 foot white marble walls and the thriving heart of both State and Faith in the Empire Her Blessed Majesty Empress Julia al'Von Rystal I, the Near-Absolute ruler of Khallayne sat in a fine oak chair on a balcony overlooking the Garden of Absolute Peace which was located at the Palace of Eternal Power, the Empresses place where she fled the energy draining Imperial Court.
An old woman of 83 years (who had ruled for 63 years), who had once been a firery red head with bright green eyes always filled with laughter were now filled with exhaustion that made her iron gray hair all that more disturbing to the few that had known her all their lives. She had seven children, two were now dead, and over 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. It was from this sprawling family, that the Imperial Senate would choose her Heir-Apparant.
"Why, the Prophet felt that it was a good thing to limit Imperial Will with the Senate I will never know." the Empress thought outloud. Thankfully the only people to hear her was her poodle Snookums and her unseen (but thank the Gods) loyal guards. The Empress then looked back to the book she had been reading, The Way of Peace but found that she couldn't focus on the words, then everything went black.
An Hour Later: Imperial Hospital, Imperial City
"The Empress is dead," the doctor said in a hollow voice, "after a preleminary exam I would say 'Natural Causes' but the Revered Sisters will no doubt preform an autopsy to be sure, Your Highness." Prince Symeon (one of Empress Julia's grandchildren, and a likely canidate for the Gold Diamond Throne) signed the documents that released the Empress body to the care of the Revered Sisters of The Way of Peace, the State Faith and the only religion in the Empire. "Has the rest of the Family been informed?" Prince Seymore asked of the good doctor. "The rest of the Royal Family are being contacted as we speak Your Highness, the Imperial Court and the Imperial Senate are preparing a press release that will be released by the end of the day. The Era of Good Peace is over."
