I BID YOU GREETINGS, on behalf of our beloved Chief Executive Officer. The greatest utopian civilization in existence must now declare that we no longer exist as you know us. The Democratic Republic of Nexum shall from this day forth be known as The Conquered Republic of Nexum. After fighting a long-lasting civil war of strife and hardship, created partly in thanks to the confounded laws of the United Nations, Nexum now stands under solid leadership and rule.

The Nexum Energy Corp., in its historic alliance and merger with Nexum Healthcare, Inc. has finally restored order to the streets of Nexum. Our support now stands at 4 billion strong as our military, police, and other employees confine all rebels to our internationally and universally-accredited mental institutions for evaluation and lifelong rehabilitation.

For some time, our great nation was in a state of rampant anarchy and chaos. These days are no longer upon us.

Several weeks ago the Democratic Republic of Nexum withdrew its delegates from the United Nations and retroactively halted the enforcement of all laws, ordinances, and resolutions passed by that corrupt forum. Such laws led us down a road of chaos. Today I am proud to announce to all known life-forms in existence that The Conquered Republic of Nexum shall never again have any part in such a nonsensical organization.

Our resources shall never be taxed by the unending burden of corrupt international and interplanetary organizations!

In addition, let it be known to all that we have established law and order. All citizens traveling to Nexum, and all naturalized citizens of Nexum are hereby required to meet with our trained mental health professionals at their nearest Nexum Healthcare, Inc. Mental Hygiene and National Security Center once a week. Failure to comply will result in Nexum Energy Corp. disabling all utilities at your place of residence including power, running water, and heating until further notice.

The concepts of freedom and tolerance are an illness to all known existence that led the working class of Nexum into full fledged civil war. This mistake will never again be repeated again. The people of Nexum know now that corporations have saved them from eons of misery at the hands of democratically-elected leaders who refused to engage in foreign wars and entanglements. Any mention of such nonsense will result in full neural reconfiguration and lobotomization.

We welcome all foreign dignitaries to our great nation once more!

Our people had been trapped in the death camps for months; laboring and being sent on to the “rehabilitation” clinics where they drugged us and gave the best of us full frontal lobotomies. I guess it was because of my youth and physical prowess that Nexum Energy decided to keep me working in one of the death camps and didn’t send me to one of those places. It was through fate or good fortune that I was able to escape the damn place with about a half dozen rebels. Getting out of the defense shield was hard enough. But that’s a story for another day.

Two and a half billion. That’s how many were put to death the day they declared their victory over us. We knew that we had to take down them down and hit them hard. My military training gave us an advantage in what to do next. We headed to Nexum City in a mini-van. By nightfall the next day we managed to use some makeshift tools and get machine guns mounted to the hood. Three days later we were hiding out in the sewers with fifty or so rebels directly under the city’s main reactor. The ones that made it were no stragglers or fools. They knew this was the only place to shut them down.

It took us four weeks. Four hard weeks hiding in those damn sewers. Covered with rats and raw garbage. I remember it was the third week where we didn’t know if the toxic gunk covering our bodies was raw sewage or our own feces. But this was enough time. Enough time to build the explosive devices that would liberate 4 billion of my people. And it was ready by the fourth week. Our plan would be to get to the core, by hell or high water, we could get to that core.

We waited two days to begin our assault. It began as a stealth operation. The sewers under the complex gave us an access point into the building. It bought us time. 12 of us were killed by security as soon as we got up there. 20 more on the way to the core. We didn’t have anything on our side, me and two others were the only ones who made it out alive and far enough from the radioactive blast to tell the story.

And it happened just like that. There’s no telling how many died that night. A billion vaporized, maybe a billion more who suffered the burns. But that night the lights went out. And the shockwave was seen as far away as the border towns. The next day as we made it to the border we had 45,000 people waiting for us. Armed. Ready to take back what was rightfully ours. Our freedom. Our democracy. And we did. LONG LIVE NEXUM. LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC. LONG LIVE THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF NEXUM!!!!!!!!!!!!
