I was just wondering if there was anything that keeps records of things on NS? Is there any way to find out which is oldest nation/region. Or to easily be able to see the region with the most number of nations (non-pacific I guess).

I think the most extensive record keeping site is the NationStates Wikipedia (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki). There are some other useful sites around, which I currently don't have links to though.
If you are specifically asking about non-RP stuff, but directly game-related statistics/records, you should probably look or post in the Gameplay forum.
