Today, we have arrived to a system very similar to Federation Sol in configuration and planetary disposition. In fact, our scans show that the locals refer to this system as “NS Sol”. This system is incredibly densely populated, possibly housing more than 100 trillion people – many times more than the entire Federation. I have made the decision to proceed inwards and explore the system.

Facility Lucy: military outpost and mining facility, outer edge of Jordaxian sphere of influence.
Note to commander Ana: A new contact has been detected within close proximity of Lucy's designated security perimeter. ISIS has co-ordinated a small security force to ensure that the new arrivals intentions are peaceful, however your authorisation for anything more may be required, depending on the outcome of contact.
Lucy was a tiny icy rock in the Kuiper Belt. Given its size, however, it was the location of a more sizable military and civilian installation, a cluttered, primitive, settlement in space, one of many that made up the bulk of Jordaxian security, it's cold iron corridors connecting equally bland prefabricated rooms, all burrowed deep under the surface of the planetoid.
The control room, filled with bright computer screens, each one with a Jordaxian examining the reams of data, sensor readings, and various paperwork that was deemed necessary to keep the facility operational. Commander Ana, in her office that overlooked that facility, listened to the note left to her, and sighed. New contacts this far out never usually meant a lost trader, but smugglers, pirates, and other undesirables who strayed too close to Lucy. It could be unpleasant.

Aboard the USS Exploration
“Captain Pickhart, our sensors have located an incoming ship signal at one thousand kilometers, closing fast. It is apparently a very big ship, very heavily armed, coming our way.”
Pickhart raised his eyebrows. “How heavily armed, precisely, Mr. Krusher?” He liked the ensign, of course, but he knew the young man was sometimes given to slight exaggeration. So he needed to know exactly.
The ensign answered. “One hundred and fifty missile launchers, Mr. Pickhart, and possibly beam weapons as well. Three fighters escorting it, so it may have fighter launch bays, but I am uncertain on that particular issue.”
The captain of the Exploration blinked in amazement as he looked at the screen where the ship approached, a disturbing sign of an inferior, militaristic culture. ‘Holy Mother of God. Commander Theta, please run a scan of that ship, we need to know precisely what that monster is and what it can do.”
“Yes, Captain.”
“In the meanwhile, Ensign, I want us to start hailing them.”
