The nation of PopularFreedom will be represented by the newest team in our league, the PRL (PopularFreedom Rugby League), the Locke Harbour Blues (http://www.geocities.com/PopularFreedomTicker/2005-04-19-001.htm).

The team plays at the Locke Harbour Stadium (http://img217.echo.cx/img217/7897/lhs21980downtown5la.png) in the neighbourhood of Locke Harbour South. The link attached shows a photo of Locke Harbour Stadium in 1980. There is a huge rivalry within the city in regards to rugby and with Locke Harbour South just getting an expansion franchise to compete against the Locke Harbour Dragons (http://www.geocities.com/PopularFreedomTicker/2005-04-04-001.htm) (from Locke Harbour North (http://img217.echo.cx/img217/2033/lhn1982downtown3dl.png)) definetly this season will be interesting!

It might get a bit complicated but....

The Rules of rugby:

Rugby Union is a team sport that was developed from the rules used to play football at Rugby School in England. Two teams, each of 15 players have the task of outscoring the opposing team. Players clutch a prolate spheroid ball in their hands or arms, and may pass it backwards or laterally across the pitch, or kick it in any direction. The opposing players attempt to halt the ball-carrier by tackling him or her with their arms and bodies. When tackled, the ball carrier must release the ball, at which time a contest for possession of the ball commences (either a ruck or a maul).

The game is closely related to rugby league. The main points of difference are the number of players per side (league has 13, union 15), the number of tackles allowed before a change of posession (league is limited to six, union has no limit), and league's use of the play the ball rule.

The International Rugby Board (IRB), founded in 1886, governs the sport and also publishes the game's laws.

Normanism
23-09-2005, 19:24
A breakdown of key Empire of Normanism Falcon's Players:

Mils Muliaina: The best fullback of the century coming out of EON, Muliaina continued his exceptional form of 2004, proving hard to contain on counter-attack during international friendly matches of the Falcons recent tour. Most teams wisely didn't kick to him often in the 2004 U21 World Cup, while other teams paid the price for doing so. Could possibly be the answer at center in coming seasons if his knees hold out.

Jerry Collins: Has enhanced his tough reputation after completing last season with 2 broken legs (whilst playing a full match with a small spiral fracture of his right leg). The injuries seem to have healed well in the off season. Outstanding in training, particularly considering he was nursing rib pain, but was shut out in the first international friendly match of the Falcons 2005 tour. Could be a handful if less one-dimensional in possession.

Jack O'Connell: Emerged superbly from the qualifiers for World Cup 4 and unlucky not to be named a starter, though the rumor mill says he had a falling out with the coach. The good news is he is healthy and on the roster. His power and athleticism continue to impress all who watch him although he is penalised more than he should be.

Jimmy Tulip: Nobody knows who this old balding man is, though he appeared to hold his own in a recent friendlies played. A kinda slow for a back, but has good form and execution.

Daniel Bergin: This wily prop proved his skills in the qualifying rounds and recent friendly matches and has earned himself a reputation for taking and receiving viscious hits along with his starting spot for the World Cup. Look for him to be a steady fixture in the years to come.

Stephen Srubas: As the ill tempered old man of the squad, Srubas has been a staple on the Falcons World Cup squad. A hard tackling, tough guy, who likes to let the score do the talking. Looked kinda rough in the qualifying rounds, but we have his assurance that his age of 33 will not hold him back.
