The inaugeral season of KIRL kicked off at Capital City Speedway, under overcast skies and generally crappy weather conditions. Qualifying was held just prior to the race, and the two Tonissian teammates dominated. The 89 of Berno Vanca grabbed the pole (and one championship point) with a time of 39.540 seconds, and his teammate, the 99 of Julius Parhart, secured outside pole with a time of 39.636. No other car was within the 39-second bracket.

No one was in the garages assigned to SMS Racing at the Capital City Superspeedway. All the last minute tweaks and changes that could be made, had been made. Evryone was gathered now in between the two haulers. Both of the teams owned by Kate Hayden were awaiting her speech to start of the year. The young blonde heiress stood in front of the crowd wearing a pair of black pants and a short sleeve yellow shirt. Her head set was now rasting around her neck.
Kate: All right guys; this is it. The first race of fourteen starts in just a few hours. I don't need to tell you how much I'd like a win this afternoon, or how important it is to finish well into the points. I want both teams to start the year with the same basic strategy and we'll tweak it next week as needed. Today let's just run steady and smooth. Hit your marks for the first fifty laps and pass when you can. Both front men have fast cars, but I don't think they'll run that fast for all two hundred miles. If we just stay close we'll be able to get them at the end. If we're inside the top five at lap sixty, and I'm sure both cars can be, go for broke. Balls to the walls to win this thing. BUT, if we're outside the top five then we need to points race our way to the finish line. Above all else boys, keep the cars clean and go have some fun.
Everyone stood up and cheered. The pit crews quickly made their ways to the garage to push the cars out to the starting grid. Andrew Molnar, the driver of the number sixteen car, stayed back for a moment to talk more specific strategy with his crew cheif, Rodger Rumpca. So did the driver of the number nineteen car, Mike Rust, and his crew cheif Cliff Adee. Usually these pairings are made up of a younger driver and an older crew chief, but this was flipped in the garages of SMS Racing. Both Rust and Molnar were older than their respective crew chiefs. Both teams were ready, as were the other nine teams that would race that day.
Due to severe thunderstorms located all across central Kericia, the Kericia 200 has been postponed. The race is to run tomorrow morning. There was discussion of possibly running wet tires if the rain concluded, however KIRL officials have nixed the idea because of the severity and duration of the storm. The KIRL Commisioner of Operations, H.D. Williams, issued the following statement:
"It's extremely unfortunate the season has to start out this way, but it's just not feasible to run in these type of conditions. We are very confident we will put on an excellent show tomorrow. We apologize to the fans and teams competing, and wish everyone good luck. Thank you, and see you tomorrow."
The two TonCar teammates dominated the opening race, leading 84 of 84 laps combined. Parhart and Vanca hooked up and drafted their way to a large lead and swapped the top spot several times while going through lapped traffic, with Vanca edging his teammate for the win.

Tonissia Finishes 1-2 in KIRL Race
CAPITAL CITY,KERCIA-Berno Vanca Crused to victory today at the Capital City Speedway (http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/1980/pocono20original20road7jv.jpg) in the inagural KIRL Race,Vanca did have to hold off team mate Julius Parhart." I slipped on Pupose" said Vanca Jokingly in Victory Lane.
He added "It looks promising for the rest of the season"
Parhart,After the race,I Might Have passed Him but I had to Dodge the 76 cars Tire after it fell off with about 7 to go, but finishing second to your teamate isn't bad.
JOHNSON STARTS SEASON IN 4TH
Rod Johnson was thrilled after he finished 4th in the Kericia 200, the first race of the KIRL season.
The Rordian driver finished just one second behind the 3rd placed driver Michael Rust. But he's happy with six well-earned points.
Johnson said: "It feels great to start the season like this.
"I just missed out on the top three, but hopefully, there'll be more to come from me."
Johnson's team-mate Jimmy Barker, who started in 3rd, had some problems during the race but went on to finish 8th.
He said: "I was very pleased with Rod's performance. Let's hope he can do the business again in the NRG 125. I wouldn't mind beating him though!"

Capital City, Kericia
Samson Leads felt depressed as he walked out of the pit area, knowing that he was probably going to be at a disadvantage for every race from now on. There was nothing he could have done about a blown tire, and that almost made it worse. He could deal with his personal failures because he knew he could work on them and improve his skills, but accidents were out of his hands, which made them that much more frustrating. He wondered how the HotRodian press would react to this. Would they be as frustrated as he was?
The teams quickly transported their cars to Anderson Bay, only a day after competing the Kericia 200. Once again, TonCar Indysport dominated time trials, with Julius Parhart pacing the 1.5 mile track in 24.334 seconds. His teammate will also start on the front row. The field was closer this time, though, with only one car not in the same second as the polesitter. The weather was much improved, it was sunny and in the high 90's, much more like normal weather in Kericia. The NRG 125 will be held later today.
Starting Grid:
99 - 24.334 89 - 24.376

We are pleased with our results in qualifying for this race. Our times have showed improvement, and we now feel that we can be competitive in this league. We have made our adjustments and will be ready to finish high in the standings this week. Congratulations to ToCar,but at the same time their success has put a big target on their back.
At the Kericia 200, the story was of TonCar's dominance. Today the story is... well, the same thing, but to a lesser extent. Just like yesterday's race, Berno Vanca and Julius Parhart drafted thier way to a large lead. However, the 22 of Kevin Sheehan managed to keep up with the 89 and 99. After the first pit stop around lap 39, Parhart came out first, Vanca in second, and Sheehan was out third. But after less than a lap, the 99 car began spewing smoke from his engine and pulled in to the pits. Parhart would finish 11th. After that incident, Vanca and Sheehan had a spirited battle for the lead, with the rest of the field battling amongst themselves. With 4 laps to go, with Vanca in the lead, the two lead cars made contact however the only damage was to Sheehan's front wing. Sheehan would continue, but Vanca drove off for an easy victory and padded his points lead.

ANOTHER GOOD RESULT FOR JOHNSON
Rordia's Rod Johnson got another 4th place finish in the KIRL today, this time in the NRG 125.
Johnson came in just 2 hundredths of a second behind 3rd place driver Sean Sauer Jr. But he was definitely pleased with another good race, which has seen him climb up to 3rd in the Drivers Championship.
He said: "I'm starting to think that anything is possible now. I've got another top four finish under my belt, and if I keep this up, I could be challenging for the drivers' title."
Jimmy Barker came in 6th, just a second behind his compatriot. Rordia Racing are now 3rd in the Teams Championship.

Pleased with his climb to 5th for the finish of this weeks race, Dorian Sabre had this to say: "It has been interesting thus far in the series. ASMV is still adjusting to the better competition of this league. But we are making progress. We are beginning to understand the things needed to compete here. Once again, I must congratulate TonCar. Hopefully we can climb up to at least challenge for second at least. Only five points behind at this point so look out"
Sonya Sabre had this to say - "It is a challenge to be a woman in such a testosterone driven sport. But I am pleased to have this opportunity"
Thus far in the season, it's been all TonCar Indyport. If not for an engine failure by Julius Parhart, TonCar might have swept every qualifying session and race in the first two events. Today at Levine Raceway, it was a much different story. SMS Racing's Michael Rust earned his first pole over Sean Sauer Jr. in second. Surprisingly, the TonCar teammates placed 8th and 11th. Rod Johnson in the 28 scored another impressive qualifying run in third, and Kevin Sheehan rounded out the top 4.
Starting Grid:
19 - 32.832 21 - 32.879
28 - 32.965 22 - 32.987
27 - 33.103 76 - 33.133
54 - 33.213 99 - 33.237
16 - 33.291 32 - 33.293
89 - 33.475
The mood in the SMS Racing shop had been melancholy through the week. Both drivers and owner Kate Hayden were deeper in the points than they belonged. The only bright spot was that they knew superspeedway air packages were not their focus for the year so the teams should be on an upswing heading into the back to back races inside the Kunar Provinces of Kassyyk and Trepak.
The last thing Mike Rust expected aftering stalling his car in the pits at the NRG was to win a pole at Levine, but that's exactly what happened. This lightened the moods in the haulers considerably for both teams. Their turnaround was in the works. Only 75 laps stood between SMS and their first win of the season.
The race today clearly showed Levine Raceway will be the exciting track to watch. All eleven cars stayed together for about 25 laps, with numerous lead changes. The first caution of the race and the year occured when polesitter Mike Rust and Rod Johnson touched in turn one and each hit the wall hard. The 21 of Sean Sauer Jr. suffered minor damage when he bounced off the wall to avoid the accident, and had to pit and come from the rear. Both drivers would be okay, but the two cars involved were eliminated. Kevin Sheehan and Samson Leads, having a fine run, battled for the lead, while Sauer Jr. worked his way up through the field. The second caution of the day happened on lap 39, when Leads and Julius Parhart wrecked, ending the race for both. Following the green flag, Sean Sauer Jr. and Kevin Sheehan ran 1-2 for many laps until the final caution on lap 53. Berno Vanca spun, collecting the 54 of Dorian Sabre. Both cars retired. The top (and only cars on the track) five after the restart: 21, 22, 27, 32, 16. Sauer would run away with it, leading by more than 4 seconds at one point. But with just 7 laps to go, the 21 car lost it's engine, and Kevin Sheehan was handed the lead and the victory.

OOC: Dont Go So Fast it takes time for me to RP
I'll try to have qualifying in the morning and the race in the afternoon from now on. The next race isn't until Wednesday, so that'll give you some time too.
BARKER SECOND, BUT JOHNSON CRASHES
Jimmy Barker became the first Rordian driver to finish in the top three of a KIRL race in the Levine Raceway 150.
Barker came second, but he was just 15 hundredths of a second away from snatching victory. Rod Johnson did not finish the race.
Barker said: "I'm delighted that I finish second, albeit in a race in which only four cars finished. On another day, I might have finished 6th or 7th, but I came second so I'll take it.
After three races, Barker is 4th in the Drivers Championship, one point ahead of Johnson. Rordia Racing remain 3rd in the Teams Championship.

"I feel excited about the finish today" said Sonya Sabre. "Even though a number of incidents caused some major problems. It does feel nice to finish strong."
Dorian Sabre had this to say - "We were having a great run. But these things happen. Hopefully we can get the car ready for the next race. It is kinda in a mess right now. But I have every confidence in my crew. Congratulations to those who managed to finish"
ASMV Racing Systems spokesperson, Miranda St Croix has announced that she will ask for an investigation into the conditions of Levine Raceway as only four cars managed to finish the race.
(ooc: sorry for the late qualifying again...)
Sean Sauer Jr., a Kerician, spoiled Micheal Rust's attempt to win the pole at his home track by 8 hundreths of a second. Kevin Sheehan qualified in third, and the constantly improving Samson Leads timed in fourth. It was a miserable session for TonCar Indysport, as points leader Berno Vanca was 8th, and his teammate Julius Parhart blew a tire on his first lap and only managed a lap 11 seconds of the polesitter. In other news, KIRL is considering an investigation into the Levine Raceway's conditions during the Levine Raceway 150.
Starting Grid:
21 - 24.614 19 - 24.691
22 - 24.787 76 - 24.846
27 - 24.884 28 - 24.921
32 - 24.935 89 - 25.105
16 - 25.113 54 - 25.162
99 - 45.063
After a near brawl broke out between the 19 and 28 teams in Levine following contact between the two race leaders, the driver of the 19 Michael Rust nearly grabbed a second pole position. Comments from both racers after the crash slammed the other and the fight while loading the wrecked cars into haulers was prevented by quick action on the part of KIRL officials. Never the less both SMS Racing cars look to finish well in the first of two home short track races. While Molnar qualified over half a second behind his teamate the short trak expert is not worried.
"I'll be better on race day. This is my home track, just like Mike so I don't think either of us will have trouble finding our way up to the front."

I think it's probably pretty obvious the schedule needs to be changed. 3 events in 3 days may work in other sports, but not racing. From now on, there will be a three day interval between races.

With both of their drivers tied for 7th at this point, ASMV Racing had this to say: "We are still excited to have the opportunity to compete in this league. The competition level is much higher than we had anticipated, but that allows us to become better. There is still plenty of season left for us to climb in the standings"
Short track specialist Sean Sauer Jr. will start on pole for the Salute to the Fallen 200 with a blistering lap time of 11.877 seconds. It is his second pole in as many races. Samson Leads, coming off a runner-up finish last race, will start second. Berno Vanca and Julius Parhart struggled again, clearly showing short tracks are not their specialty.
Starting Grid:
21 - 11.877 76 - 11.898
19 - 11.977 16 - 11.997
22 - 12.020 27 - 12.052
28 - 12.080 54 - 12.084
32 - 12.169 89 - 12.244
99 - 12.254
For the first time this year, one driver won the pole, led every lap, and won the race. Sean Sauer Jr. took the lead on the green flag, and never looked back for his first victory of the year, and SMS Racing's second victory. Samson Leads earned his second straight second place finish, and appears to be closing in on his first career victory. Andrew Molnar scored a career-best third, and Michael Rust and points leader Kevin Sheehan rounded out the top 5. With his fifth-place finish, Sheehan's points lead shrunk to 1 point over his teammate. This Monday will host the second short track in a row, at the CCS Short Track.
