At 4:30 AM, it was announced that Dublin Haughey, founder of the Democratic States, had died from a massive stroke. An official from Greater Haughey Memorial Hospital stated that Mr. Haughey had died on the way there from his mansion two miles out of the nation's capital that bears his family name.

Dublin Haughey, uncle of current President Cornelius, had spent almost twenty-five years waging a relentless war to bring together the collection of smaller states that make up the Democratic States of Haughey. He was sharply criticized for his brutal suppression of women and other minorites. He crowned himself dictator eight years ago, but was quickly overthrown by Cornelius. He has been under house arrest outside of the capital ever since, while Cornelius has started to slowly turn the nation into one that is a beacon for freedom.

Regardless of his ruthlessness, Dublin brought the economy of several states together to form a small, but powerful, nation forged in blood and money. Winlock Street, home of the President, could not be reached for comment at this time.
