I've noticed that the vast majority of "international incidents" set up consist of immediately going to war. I'm curious to try out some diplomatic, subtler ways of doing things. Who would be interested in running something like what's going on between Canada and Denmark over Hans Island? There could be military escalation later, but I'd like to at least try talking about it.

Anyone who's interested should telegram me or post here. (And hey, there could be a few of ya.)

I'd be really interested in doing something like this.

Sweet. We'll wait until tomorrow or so, see if there's anyone who wants to be a third party. (Note to any interested: expect very little action outside of fridays and weekends.)

I'd be willing to play it, of course Korea is a touch out of the way but it makes an able third party.

Wonderful. Are you a simulation of the real-world DPRK? That could certainly be cool. What kind of role would you see yourself in?

Not too bad. I'm a little out of the place on weekdays as well.

Bit of background: Delassina, due to a complex and highly corrupt political system, is effectively ruled by an aristocracy. This means that they are, of course, self assured in their own superiority, openly contemptuous of lower classes, and form surprisingly good links with the upper classes of other nations.

The lower classes just try to get on with their lives, although there is a nascent socialist/trade unionist movement (trade unions are illegal), especially in the largest union, the UDSAW (United Delassinan Socialist Association of Workers), and the anarcho-syndicalists of the ALIS (Association of Labour for International Solidarity). These groups are, however, miniscule.

Not only am I Canadian, my name is Joe.

In any case, some background on my country as well would be useful:

Mahria is scattered over an archipelago of various sized islands in the warmer parts of the pacific. It's native inhabitants outnumber a handful of colonial-descended europeans. They have a long nautical history, and as such a strong navy. (Most jobs are in the shipping industry, and sailors unions are a huge political force) The air force, however, is an embarassment.

Mahria is a democracy, whose capital is Two-Crossing-Rivers and whose primary exports are fish and tropical produce. The current government has strong socialist leanings, but has stronger nationalist and violent tendencies than most leftists.

Denmark vs Canada in dispute.

Stage 1: Canada stops all danish imports.

Stage 2: Denmark retaliates by stopping all bacon exports.

Stage 3: Canada retaliates by sending Sheila Copps as the Canadian ambassador to Denmark.

Stage 4: Denmark nukes Canada.

I'm roleplaying a newly unified Korean Peninsula, it would probably be to serve as a neutrel party willing to serve as a contact between the two sides, and a mediator should an agreement be difficult to settle.

That's a very cool idea, actually. So you'd want to maintain impartiality?

Cool, cool. Han Kuk, I have a question: did korea unify to form you before or after all the silliness with nukes?

In any case, it's about time this got off the ground, eh? Forgive me taking liberties with the name (Hans, Wilhelm... same region of Europe...?) The real RP begins... wait for it... now!
