You reallize that, even at the incredibly quick rate we're going now, we still have another month before this cup ends. Remember that pool play is 33 games long. You can start signups for the next tournament, but everyone should know that it's gonna be a while before it starts.
I'd like to host the next cup as well. This one should have more teams. I'm thinking I'll be able to handle a full 32 teams this time around. Also, I'll be playing in the Second NS World Cup of Baseball as well as hosting it.

Even though it's early, I think that doing the sign-ups now is fine because it'll probably take as long a time to finish this as it will to finish the first World Cup of Baseball. I went ahead and posted a link to this on my region's offsite forum, so maybe we'll get some more Texan entrants in there.

I guess whoever's best so long as their hockey commitments don't get in the way ;)

As for ratings, that will be explained nearer the time, though don't worry - nearly everyone got confused in the first Cup by them! Essentially it's to determine how good your players are (within reason) - you get a set number of points for your team, and can distribute them any way you like subject to certain conditions. So if you want a team with two or three great hitters at the expense of your pitching staff, you can. If you'd rather have a well-balanced team with no real stars, you can. And so on.

Greetings! The old regime of Dr. Wily has been overthrown by Mega Man and the Revolution!

As such, Robotopolis has been renamed Megatania in honor of our Blue savoir, and we are once again entering the sports world! Seeing as how signups for the 17th Cherry Cup(Curse you, Starbladiya!) havn't begun yet, we might as well sign up here!

Team Name: Megatania Bombers

OOC: Real reason: I am dumb and left Robotopolis unattended long enough for it to be deleted, so I'm back. Hi!

You're going to need a roster that includes nine starting batters (DH included), with their batting order and individual ratings, as well as five starting pitchers, with their pitching rotation and individual ratings. You should also include your overall batting rating and overall pitching rating. For more on ratings and rosters click here (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9494777&postcount=30).

I've started a discussion thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=448259) for the NSWCB. You can make ooc posts about the current tournament or the next tournament or even engage in "friendly" matches against each other. Hopefully, this will keep new participants in the next tournament involved in NSWCB matters while they wait for the current one to end.

My antipuppet, Noncitizens will sign up for the tournament. I think that gives us 22 participants. The first cup is finally coming to an end in. It will end, at the latest, on Friday November 10th. Milchama, I know you have a puppet nation, and others probably do as well. It would be great if peopled signed up with their puppets for this tournament. That would probably give us a full thirty two teams.

Novenga
29-10-2005, 16:29
Greetings to all. The Incorporated States of Novenga wish to field a national team in the upcoming World Cup, if we are not too terribly late for the qualifying rounds.

The Ministry of Sport are currently holding tryouts at their Southwestern Regional Complex in Gatesward, currently our major obstacle is that most everyone competing for a slot on the team is having to unlearn a little, or a lot of their cricketing instincts. :headbang: Most of our bowlers for example are not accustomed to throwing any style other than straight-arm.

We are aware that 27 light years stretch between Novenga and Sol-3 (if indeed that is where the tournament is to take place). We are quite serious about our desire to participate, so we are consequently trying out two sides: one of our youth players (currently aged five to eight, which should put our players at the anatomically correct age-- you might call it the "sweet spot"-- with which to crush the competition [politely] when they arrive), and a side of our regular ball players, provided of course that we solve the space-time conundra and are able to deposit our side at the right place at the right time. Our scientists assure us that they are close.

Those small issues aside, we hope to field a competitive team for the Cup, if we qualify and if you will have us. Thank you for your attention, cheerio.

The Grand Japanese Empire had finished there baseball season with an unprecidented turnout. The Seibu Lions, almost losing there first season since 30 years ago, pulled out with a 13 - 12 victory. After light consideration, the Japanese Parliament decided to send the Seibu Lions instead of a team of combined players to the NS World Cup of Baseball. It would be the Japanese first World Cup, but most likely not there last if the turnouts were good.

Seibu Lions, incase you don't feel like reading that short little snibbity lol.

I'm willing to host it if you give me your spreadsheet (?)...
I didn't use a spreadsheet. I used a calculator program. I was assuming that whoever hosts the next tournament is going to come up with an entirely new scorination method, probably one more similar to the other methods used in NS sports. If you would like to make the scorination method for the next tournament essentially similar to the last one, we could discuss the algorithm I used to write the program. (If you don't know what an algorithm is, it's just a way of solving a problem.) Link #4 in my sig (especially the parts under the Batting, Pitching and Equation headings) should help provide a some basic insight into how I designed my scorination method. Also, if you have a TI graphing calculator (this applies to anyone who would like to host the tournament), I could dictate the commands of the program to you in another post, then tell you how to use the program.
