Obligitory U21 roster

SOMEWHERE (BT) -- Again for the Under 21 World Cup Oglethorpia is fielding the descendants of its last team. "What can I say?" explains coach Ruben van Mistletoe. "They're having kids young." Indeed; and they're growing up unexplainably fast too.

"It was as if Dwight the fourth were a baby just four years ago!" exclaimed his father Dwight White the third.

And that's because he was, but none of the players are being told of the illegal growth hormone fed to their babies. That confidential information disclosed, here is the Junior Ostriches roster for the U21 Cup.

Manager/Coach/Head Moral Supporter: Ruben van Mistletoe
Formation: 3-4-3

Goal: Tom T. Kein IV (18)

Defense:
Dwight White IV (17)
Michael Shootson-Arnold IV (19)
Mitch Pritchell IV (20)

Midfield:
Grant G. Green IV (18)
Nathaniel Falls IV (20)
Lionel Linear IV (20)
Charles Albert-Herbson Cabbages IV (20)

Offense:
Stephe Mogler IV (18)
Maximillian Black V (20)
Hugh G. Dawkins IV (19)

On the bench is Bill Behnch III, Bob Betterer III, Bill Betterer III, Bob Behnch III and Brad Betterer III, as usual, not at all related.

Oglethorpia goes into the U21 World Cup hoping to at least make it to the first round.

Canucks have whole new look as they enter U21WC19

The former champs are back with a completely new team and are ready to rev up for another year. The roster will be made up of Rejistanian immigrants who will represent Hockey Canada. The Hockey stick and sickle will need to represented with pride by these young players.

Goalkeepers:

40- Mexhisna Ateok~hana (16)
1- Ishinneji Jeonahta (16)

Defenders:

5- Mehlik Atantaj (19)
6- Sajhiku Kaneh~su (20)
11- Inixher Ranjdu (18)
17- Sekilajihnen Ajendek (21)
24- Syku Kansu (15)
28- Kansu Syku (16)
67- Inkatil Meaunu (18)
10- Sink~hil Ilatil (17)
14- Kara~n Senede (16)

Midfielders:

2- Kara~n Senede (17)
14- Miru I Lyku (19)
16- Iliaux Xei (16)
21- H~sidi I~lxi (19)

Strikers:

9- Kansu Ty (17)
18- Takil Karelates (20)

Group Overview:

Jeruselem- They're expected to do well this tournement but being just higher ranked than Hockey Canada may be an issue with them underestimating the Canucks' power. The Rejistanian immigrants will try to do what the native Hockey Canadians did a few years ago to defeat jeruselem gloriously.

Yafor 2- Unfamiliar with the Hockey Canadians except in american football (which Hockey Canada is currently hosting), Yafor 2 is a complete mystery to the Canucks. Whatever the score is between these two teams can only promise to be entertaining.

Beefy-Bumble-Holding: They're here and in 16th for this cup! Beefy-Bumble-Holding may have a funny name but when it comes to the Canucks playing against them it won't seem so funny. A relentless defense will be sure to stop any team (including Beefy-Bumble-Holding).

Projected Finish-

1- Hockey Canada
2- Jeruselem
3- Beefy-Bumble-Holding
4- Yafor 2

It's going out on a somewhat thick limb, but Hockey Canada is back to get their U21WC17 glory!

Milchama likes chances despite overhauled roster

The new look Milchama Warriors with new coach New Montreal Stater Patrice Thibault are happy despite the fact that 9 of the 11 starters are new. The Warriors who went to the second round last U21WC despite being in the same group as defending champs Hockey Canada look even better this time with a ranking and a group that includes two tough but beatable countries. The third country though could be quandry because it is Coach Thibault's home country of New Montreal States. When asked about this he said, "Yes it is unfortunate that we have to play them but they did make sure that I did not get a job so beating will be even sweeter than beating anybody else."
He also unveiled the roster for this U21 World Cup. It is very different than last time but at least he said, "These kids are the future of Milchama they will do great things for us we should not be dissapointed."

Patty Paterson: The An Archist national Under 21 soccer team is preparing for its first ever game. Wait...

I'm getting an announcement...

It seems that the Under 21 soccer team has already played four international games. This news comes as an absolute suprise to me. Can you tell us about this John.
John Johnson: Well I didn't know we had competed in the U21 world cup either but that's what I'm being told. I guess it's like the old saying "If an arch delux falls in the woods, does anyone die of a heart attack."
Patty Paterson: Well said, John. We have with us Robert Robertson, goal keeper for the U21 squad. Can you tell us Mr. Robertson, what was it like playing soccer on the international stage with so little attention from your own countrymen.
Robert Robertson: Wait a sec! You're telling me that we've already competed in the Under 21 World Cup. That's news to me! I have to admitt though, that part of my life went by pretty fast. You know, drugs, sex, and rock 'n roll. Well, drugs and sex anyway. Actually just drugs... as far as I remember. Man I was wasted!!
Patty Paterson: That is so interesting. For the veiwers at home, here is the roster for this year's team.

Coach:
Andy Anderson. The owner of Andicorp and the most powerful man in the country. Apparently, he got bored so he decided to buy a soccer team to field at the Under 21 World Cup.
Goal Keeper:
Robert Robertson. He's got amazing reaction time, especially considering how much weed he smokes. Last year he only allowed three goals in eight pickup games at Anderson park in downtown An Archia.

Defenders:
Robin Robinson. On the team mainly for her looks and she knows it. She does look spectacular, though, doesn't she.
Andy Anderson. No, not the owner of Andycorp and the most powerful man in the Citizens' club, his son. Yet another player who made the team for reasons other than soccer skill.
Fredrick Fredrickson. The only defender who actually knows how to play soccer, he is widely regarded as the toughest guy in An Archist sports. One time he injured five guys just by giving them a mean look.

Midfielders:
Sam Samson: At 6'7" he's really tall. But that's about it. He did score one goal in five pickup games at Anderson park in downtown An Archia.
Jan Janson: The other female on the team, she's actually good at soccer. She scored two goals in nine pickup games at Anderson park in downtown An Archia.
Sandy Sanderson: No we didn't forget about this player, he's actually a guy. Hehe, his name is Sandy. That's funny. What a loser!

Forwards:
Erick Erickson. The star of the team. He holds the record for most goals at Anderson Park with fifteen in only six games.
David Davidson. He loves the game of soccer. Too bad he sucks at it. He hasn't scored once in eighty-eight pick up games at Anderson Park.
William Williamson: A famous rapper from the North-East-East side of An Archia, he's also known as an all around athlete. He may be lacking in refined skills, but he has amazing natural ability. He benches 440 and runs a 11.2 second 100m. He scored nine goals in five pick up games at Anderson Park.
Jack Jackson: Andy Anderson (our national leader not his son) needed another guy to round up his starting lineup so he hosted a reality show called "The next great soccer player." This guy won the reality show after the fan favorite, Stephie Stevenson, refused to drink four gallons of liquified goat manure.
Patty Paterson: An Archy will be grouped with Hypocria, Cockbill Street, and JSTEP. The team fully expects to have their rear ends handed to them. What do you have to say about this Mr. Robertson?
Robert Robertson: Well, I must say that if I just found a rear end lying around I'd see how much I could get for it on the internet. These guys at the U21 World Cup are so kind hearted.
Patty Paterson: Thank you, for that insightful remark Mr. Robertson.
Stay tuned for the weather coming up next.
Spruitland

The Spruitland Bunnies, the defending Under-21 World Cup champions, after winning the previous Under-21 World Cup, return to Total n Utter Insanity to try and win the title for the second time – which would make it two in a row, since they, you know, won it last time as well, being champions and all. The Bunnies are, incidently, also ranked #1 in the world, which is, pretty much, as high as it gets.

And there-in lies the problem. Spruitland supporters aren’t exactly optimistic about this World Cup, claiming they are bound to end up disappointed because it will be extremely difficult for the Bunnies to do better than last time. Equally well, sure, that’s not impossible, but what is there to be happy about keeping the status quo?

“We were considering dropping out of World Cup 19,” Spruitland Minister of Sports Olav Nett says, “just so we’d be sure to do better in World Cup 20. But that would have left the Hypocrians as the highest ranked nation, and we couldn’t let that happen. So we’ll just try to win again, and then tell everyone that winning it twice in a row is better than winning it only once in a row. Which is true, if you think about it. And then next time, we can win it for the third time in a row, which will be even better, kinda.”

This Time Around
Pacitalia faces upstart v18 surprise Jon Parkin (8th seed), Milchama (15th) and an unknown, unseeded nation. This tournament looks positive for the Pacitalians, as a first place finish in the group is not out of reach thanks to the closeness in seedings between the three. However, Pacitalia will be looking to work hard in order to do so.

From the communist rejistanian Pravda:

U21-Workforce optimistic
The U21 workforce participates for the first time in the U21, replacing the capitalistic and imperialistic mainland. In their group is Chicanada, Oliverry and Vilita. None of these nations follows the enlightened truths of communism. in every of these states, the proletariat is oppressed. This is no soccer, this is a war on the field about ideology. Coach Xahnatu Shixinatu promised that the workforce will do the best to make the nation proud.

Jeruselem Government News

Anyone for Hockey?

Yes, this is a really soccer news article. Not the wonderful World Cup 24, but the perennial Under 21 championships, edition 19. Jeruselem are holding down the 7th seeding and still looking for a 3rd cup after Nedalia knocked us out during U21C18. We don't give up, or we're just persistent.

We are placed in Group C with the 8th seed Hockey Canada! Yes, the 7th and equal 8th seed in the same group who will be the favourites to win the group.

Who are the other teams? Unseeded Yafor 2 and 16th seed Beefy-Bumble-Holding. Don't ask us about why these teams are named this way, but expect some bad puns over the next few days.

The U21C18 defending champion Spruitland (or "The Bunnies") are back to defend their crown with a lot of contenders ready to pounce like the Nedalian lions and Jon Parkin (equal 8th seed) including us of course.

Hypocria Squad - Under-21 World Cup 19

Coach

Boubacar Dragov (P19 W15 D0 L4)
The former Crystilakere Under-21 coach has turned the Hyppos into genuine title contenders and now in his fourth tournament in charge he will be hoping they can go one better than their second place finish two years ago.

Players

1. Alexei Lomaia (FC Pydna)
He may be just 16 years of age but Lomaia has been earning rave reviews from the media. They see him as a future number 1 in the senior side but we’ll just wait and see how he does in his first Under-21 tournament.

2. Ryan Steiner (Dynamo Rasium)
A member of Dynamo Rasium’s impressive young side and a member of the squad that reached the final in the last competition.

3. Andy Gabbidon (FC Hypocrium)
At 21 Gabbidon is one of the squad’s veterans. This is his third (and final) tournament and he will be looking for a winner’s medal to go with his second and third place awards.

5. Tony Webber (Thraxus Rangers)
Another good domestic season has sealed Webber’s place in what is his third U21 tournament. The 20 year old also captains the side.

6. Craig Sullivan (FC Pydna)
Like his club teammate Lomaia, this is Sullivan’s debut in international competitions.

4. Demetrius Costa (FC Hypocrium)
Costa returns for his second tournament with a desire to avenge the humiliating defeat in the final last time. The one familiar face in the new look midfield.

7. Carlos Castro (Hypocrium City)
The side from the capital aren’t known for their youth development but Castro could be a star in the making.

8. Chris Jacques (Kester Town)
Another young prospect from the Kester Town production line.

11. Josh Cahill (Thraxus Rangers)
Another new face in the midfield. Cahill will be looking to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor Robert Bercali and maybe earn a lucrative move abroad.

9. James Eagles (Hypocrium City)
Talented striker who scored plenty of goals at the last tournament and will be looking to do the same again.

10. Craig Dargo (Dynamo Rasium)
Lanky forward who formed a deadly partnership with Eagles two years ago.

Reserves

12. Paul Steele (LCB)
13. Chris Baines (GK)
14. David Nicol (MC)
15. Chris Hayes (SC)
16. Stephen Ware (MC)
17. Andy Bruce (RCB)
18. Robert Steiger (MRL)

Bunnies relax in group stage

Spruitland – Marligantis: 5 – 2

Under-21 World Cup 19 is underway, and the Spruitland Bunnies have been drawn in Group B, along with Marligantis, New Elijah and Liamist States. No real difficulties are expected at this stage of the tournament, something the Bunnies demonstrated with a comfortable 5-2 win over the butterfly people.

“If we want to score a lot of goals, we have to do it in the group stage,” says team captain Chico Provoost, who scored twice tonight. “Once in the knock-out stage, the matches will only get tougher. But for now, we can relax, have some fun, and break some records.”

And record-breaking is what Provoost did today. By scoring two goals he brings his Under-21 total to 17, which puts him alone in the lead on the Bunnies’ topscorers list, a position he shared with Taki Sala until today. Sala has passed the age limit, so Provoost will have every opportunity to set the record at a level that won’t easily be broken.

Barring more than a medium-sized miracle, Provoost’s striker partner in the current Bunnies squad, 20-year old Robbad I. Asay, will certainly not be the one to break this record. Asay, depsite scoring regularly for Starblaydi team Hecia FC, has yet to score his first international goal. Or, perhaps more accurately, has yet to be officially recorded as goalscorer. He did find the net today, but the goal was disallowed, even though the video images clearly showed he was not offside.

“Not the first time that happens,” Asay sighs. “I’ve had a few goals disallowed at the previous World Cup as well. Just bad luck, I guess. But it’s ok, this was only my fourth cap, I’ll keep trying.”

Julien Dewaele, Raoul Niehoff and Manuel Van Looy did manage to score today, bringing the Bunnies’ total to five. Coach Paulo Bachchan will expect more of the same in the next match, against Liamist States.

Spruitland – Marligantis: 5 – 2
1-0 Niehoff (11’)
2-0 Provoost (16’)
3-0 Van Looy (36’)
3-1 Atiou'irriia (37’)
4-1 Provoost (55’)
4-2 Atiou'irriia (68’)
5-2 Dewaele (72’)

Patty Paterson: Earlier today, the Citizens' Club of An Archy won its first game in the Under 21 World Cup 19 three to two. Erick Erickson scored the first goal of the match in the 31st off a beautiful long ball from Fredrick Fredrickson. Then in stoppage time in the first period an unkown player from JSTEP beat keeper Robert Robertson to even the score. No more goals were scored until the 80th minute of play at which point Andy Anderson scored an own goal. The An Archist fans booed Andy harshly, except for the small section that his father had paid to cheer for Andy no matter how aweful he played. They cheered wildly, although noticeably sarcastically. Two minutes later Janson scored on a miraculous cross from Erickson in which the ball was flying over the boundry line as he kicked it back into play. Then in the 88th minute of play, William Williamson scored an unassisted goal to win the game. Using his spectacular athleticism and creativity, he juked past two JSTEP defenders for an open shot at the goal. He then kicked the ball off the left post and into the net to give the An Archists a win in their first game of the tournament. Here's what Williamson had to say after the game.
William Williamson: You know, you're out there trying to put on a show for the fans but you're also trying to win the game for all of your countrymen. It's a great feeling when you can do both at the same time.
Patty Paterson: The An Archists next match will be in two days. Until then, they are practicing hard for their next challenge. Stay tuned for the latest celebrity gossip, coming up on An Archist News next.

The New Master
Raphaelo sparks Starblaydi win

Actually Starblaydia's youngest starting player at the tender age of nineteen, Iskara Daii's Raphaelo has already shown his worth by firing in the winner against Bettia in the opening match of Under-21 World Cup 19, Starblaydia's seventeeth attempt at a title, hoping to add to their only triumph in this competition in the much-celebrated U21WC14.

The Back-Five - unusal for a Starblaydi side but one which accomodates all the talent of the moment - were strong and powerful, led expertly by Heider Stefansson, son of the legendary winger Stefan Haldorsson. Jaime Oberlander. Lepus FC's 'mini-Bachchan' Francisco Ibanez was, however, lucky not to be sent off for a second bookable offence midway through the second half. Perhaps he was trying too hard to impress Cherry Garcia, Starblaydia's best female player.

Garcia's actions were limited somewhat, her natural attacking potential cut unnaturally short as she was chained into a far-too defensive role to keep the balance of the side intact. Starblaydia did switch to a regular 4-4-2 with Garcia as the wide midfielder and they looked more comfortable there, as Oswald Perheira's attacking shortcomings proved far too obvious when employed as a left-winger to match Garcia.

Khim Azanulbizarn's side will have to play lop-sided if they are to overcome his desire to fit everyone into a defensive unit, though DEF is certainly the code for this team.

The Reserves
19. Ely Proudfoot, GK, 13 - Unattached
20. Alberto Belmozzi, D, 11 - Unattached
22. Javi Chavez LM, 14 - Unattached

These three Under-21s are still without contract and are actively seeking employment at clubs around Atlantian Oceania and also the wider Nationstates' world. Any interested clubs should contact U21s Manager Khim Azanulbizarn as he acts as agent for these young stars of Starblaydia's future.

Milchama takes first place by thrashing NMS 6-2

The new look Milchama Warriors answered most doubters in their nation today as in the opener of the they thrashed New Montreal States 6-2. This victory was even better for the Warriors because as captain Daveed Lintooney said, "This one was for Patrice our new coach and NMS reject." Patrice Thibault the former NMS high school coach, a citizen of NMS and current coach of the Milchama U21s. He had to say, "People were doubting us coming into the tournament. Now they can say that we are one of the best U21 sides in the world. Nobody can doubt that."
Match Report:
The first half was littered with goals. Five goals to be exact as Milchama got 3 goals and NMS got 2 of their own. The scoring started early in the 3rd minute as Henri Zado got fouled just outside of the box. Zado then took his own free kick and lofted the ball into the perfect position just outside of the outstreched arms of Clay Finton. The Warriors quickly struck back and in the 7th minute Spot Nielson, the former Chicanadan and now naturalized citizen, scored on a beautiful solo run after a good pass from Antoine Sanchez. The game got a little quieter the next 10 minutes as nobody scored but in the 20th minute NMS struck as a harmless cross got caught in the middle of miscommunication in the Milchama defense causing Marcazumi and Littner to bump into each other giving the ball straight to Claude Floomeu and he scored with easily. 2-1 to NMS. Milchama again quickly returned a goal as Elana Kilinin (the first girl to play for a Milchama soccer team) did something akin to Darian Flinters and ran around two defenders before passing off to Zar Johnson her clubmate who quickly put the ball in the net to tie the game at 2. The half started to wear down as both teams tried to stop the other one from getting the ball in their offensive third. This led to a lot of midfield play. Luckily Milchama had the better midfield and Kilinin found Aaron Kary on the wing, Kary then crossed the ball in where Spot Nielson headed it to Zar Johnson who again finished with the ball in the net. The score at halftime 3-2.
Second Half Report:
The second was dominated by the Warriors who got 3 goals and 14 shots. The first shot in the half was by Elana Kilinin. That shot suprisingly went in the net to make 4-2. After that Milchama never turned off the burners as they kept attacking and attacking. A header by Kary was headed off the line by a defender and rebound was saved brilliantly by the keeper. Finally another corner this time Kary took the corner and swung it in to the head of Mills Thompson who scored with a brilliant header to make the game 5-2. After the 5th goal the NMS defense played better and they almost scored on the counter attack when Zado crossed the ball into Floomeu who headed the ball right at Finton. Milchama would score one time though as Daveed Lintooney got the ball just outside the box dribbled into the box and then shot the ball straight into the net to score Milchama's 6th goal.
Final score
Milchama 6 (Nielson 7, Johnson 23 and 42, Kilinin 46, Thompson 61, Lintooney 82)
New Montreal States 2 (Zado 3, Floomeu 20)

PALADINS ANNIHILATED BY MILCHAMA

We get our comeuppance at Thibault's hands

TnUI - It was lights out for the NMS Under-21 football team as they went down 6-2 to an agressive Milchaman squad.

The Paladins kept the game fairly close in the first half, with first grader Henri Zado leading the charge against the Warriors, picking up an early goal. Claude Floomeu, a fifth grader, picked up a second goal. The half ended at a reasonable 3-2 score.

But then, in the words of coach Phillipe Jean-Rene, "we just got tired out. I mean, they're a bunch of little kids, what were you expecting?" The Warriors picked up two easy goals in the second half, and then decided to take it easy a bit. They picked up the pace once a Zado pass to Floomeu proved that there was still some life in the Paladins yet. The Warriors picked up a 6th goal shortly thereafter, and that was the way the cookie crumbled.

It was a truly glorious moment for Patrice Thibault, who left the country because people kept giving him shit about his accidental castration. His roomate and Assistant-Coach-without-a-clue Jean-Claude called our paper, shouted "Kiss my a**, ya rat b**tards!" and hung up before we could say anything.

Coach Jean-Rene announced radical changed in the program. For the next game, all players will be dressed in squirrel costumes and bowler hats.

The mainland-rejistanian reporter Syku Kansu came to Total n Utter Insanity to report about the communists. He managed to get an interview with winger Ta~eliju Manadtak~ho, which was published in rejistanian newspapers to show how backwards Communist Rejistania is.

SK: Hejida comrade Manadtak~ho'he!
TM: Hejida comrade!
SK: What do you think of the Chicanada match?
TM: Xex, Chicanada is top 8, is 5th. We had chance to lower the trailing in second half but did not take them. We tried too much, to defended.
SK: You defended too much?
TM: Our team did. We scored only 2 goals...
SK: You mean there is a thing like too much defending?
TM: Yes, right! You mainlanders play for who concedes least, we for who scores most. Defending, being only in one half, that is not for scoring.
SK: This sounds odd to me... Well, to change the topic: Is it right that you are not paid in Communist Rejistania?
TM: Paid? This money thingy?
SK: Yes.
TM: I never touched money in my life. Why should I want to?
SK: So what is your motivation to give your best in the league and on international level?
TM: Why should there always be an external motivation? If a job is worth doing, it is worth being done right inherently.
SK: What about the jobs, no one wants to do?
TM: These tasks are not done permanently by the same people, unless of course they enjoy doing them. Everyone does these tasks for some time, but never for long.
SK: So you do things like...
TM: work in a slaughterhouse? yes.
SK: But you are a soccer star... you scored the first international goal...
TM: So? Everyone is equal.
SK: This sounds too strange for me
Pacitalia

Blue Foxes silence their opponents with late squeaker

Those who know Pacitalian U21 football know that Pacitalia likes to play dangerously, on the edge, on the fly, etc etc etc. However, Pacitalia knew it had a great chance this time to claim top spot after group play with equally-seeded opponents and one of the best squads in years. Thankfully, they had an equally great chance to prove they could do so by playing loudmouth eighth-seeds Jon Parkin in their first game of this round-robin stage.

Pacitalia exited the pitch to the screams of delight of 71,500 fans in TnUI as the home side squashed the inexperienced yet ironically higher seeded opposition with a great 3-2 victory. Play was pretty much equal for the first twenty minutes of the game, as each side opened with a rather fantastic goal (Pacitalia's coming from Bertrando Massimatto).

Halftime came and went, and both sides seemed to be pleased with the way they were playing, as no substitutions or formation changes were made. The break seemed to work in Jon Parkin's favour, though, as they quickly responded to the rest with a low left-side goal in the 51st to take the lead. Unfortunately for them, the Blue Foxes had other plans, and literally within seconds the match was tied back up after a great shot to the top left corner of the net by Veneto Santo Sebastiano from 17.5 metres out.

The play remained solid from both teams, but Pacitalia began to pull forward as they created more chances for themselves. That hard work paid off in the 79th minute as an amazing double give-and-go play between the Dynamic Duo of Andreos Charisteas and Massimo da Scupeta, their signature play, resulted in the winning goal for the Pacitalian side.

The Pacitalian Blue Foxes face either Milchama or New Montreal States in Match Day 2. Milchama wiped NMS off the face of the earth with a 6-2 victory, and many are complimenting Milchama for their take-no-prisoners style of football, refreshing to see in a cup filled with quite a few AOD teams.

Goalless draw not normal in Fmjphoenix matches

Normally when talking about a match with Fmjphoenix, its all about flashy moves and lots of goals. Not this time though. With very few chances by either side, the Junior Vikings had their first ever nil-all draw against Oglethorpia to open up the U21WC19 campaign.

Fmjphoenix tried to strike first after about 20 minutes, but the shot by Brian Dougood was wide just a hair. Hugh G. Dawkins IV tried to put Oglethorpia up before the end of the first half, but Jason Larue made a nice diving catch to rob the goal. That was the majority of the action for the first half. There was mostly just back and forth between loose balls and out of bounds balls. The second half was about the same, only 3 more shots were attempted, one by Siieranu Ijanaeil and one by Laura Boyd for the Junior Vikings. Both shots were deflected by Tom T. Kein IV. Stephe Mogler IV took the only other shot by Oglethorpia, which was again caught up by Larue. The match was not overlly exciting, but it was a good defensive effort by the Junior Vikings, something that is not normally seen in Fmjphoenix.

Bad day all round in U21C19

Jeruselem lost it's first game in the U21C19, but the opponent was Hockey Canada. In a game where things went Karelan (which some well known has have abandoned for U21C19), Hockey Canada won out 1-0 in game that lack highlights for Jeruselem. The 8th seeded Canadians deserved their win and we aren't complaining.

Some of the Jeruselem team have suspected minor injuries from the game after tough defending took it's toll on both teams. The Jeruselem physiotherapist will be busy tonight.

Beefy-Bumble-Holding beat Yafor 2 1-0 to get it's first points. Instead of taking home the bacon, they took home the Beef (the bad pun we promised). This means Jeruselem must win at least one game (preferably two) and hope Hockey Canada keep on winning as well.

Group C - Day 1
Jeruselem 0 Hockey Canada 1
Yafor 2 0 Beefy-Bumble-Holding 1

Hold it, Day 2 results just in ... well, this will be a short U21C19 for Jeruselem.

Group C
Beefy-Bumble-Holding 4 Jeruselem 1
Hockey Canada 1 Yafor 2 0

We just lost 4-1 to Beefy-Bumble-Holding but our friends Hockey Canada won 1-0 over Yafor 2. This means both the winners are through, meaning Jeruselem and Yafor 2 go home earlier.

So Jeruselem fans, get those Hockey Canada and Nedalian fans kiits out. We still have plenty of U21C19 action left to go.

And Hypocria just lost it's second game, meaning it cannot repeat it's grand final appearance in U21C18. More bad news, Bedistan and Reijistania also lost two games - THEY ARE GONE. Jon Parkin is in trouble with 1 draw in two games.

Bad day all round in U21C19

They’re Not Kidding

The Under-21 tournament was meant to be the nation’s salvation after a terrible time in the World Cup qualifiers. Four years ago we finished third, in the last tournament we came second and in U21 World Cup 19, with a highest ever seeding of 2, we were going to bring home the gold. Well that was the plan anyway.

The group draw was made and only increased the belief that the Hyppos would lift their first major trophy. Three unranked sides would be the opposition for a side who hadn’t dropped points in a group game since the opening match of U21 World Cup 16, the second round beckoned. Unfortunatly the opponents clearly hadn’t read the same script.

Hypocria 1 - 3 Cockbill Street
Hypocria 4 - 6 An archy

Those are the results that have almost, but not quite, killed the Hyppos chances in this competition. It leaves the Group A table looking something like this . . .

Group A
Name P W D L F A GD Pts
An archy 2 2 0 0 9 6 3 6
Cockbill Street 2 1 0 1 5 4 1 3
JSTEP 2 1 0 1 5 5 0 3
Hypocria 2 0 0 2 5 9 -4 0

A second round place is unlikely but not quite impossible. An win for all ready qualified An archy over Cockbill Street and a Hypocria win over debutants JSTEP, complete with a suitable number of goals could yet see the Hyppos sneak through. It could happen I tells ya. Although it looks like the number 2 seeds will be joining big names like Jeruselem, Bedistan and Rejistania on the plane home.

Whether it happens or not the HFA could well be looking for a new coach after the tournament. It is rumoured that Under-21 coach Boubacar Dragov will not be renewing his contract as he feels that he has achieved all that he can with Hypocria and believes that it is time to hand over to someone new. Dragov is the man who transformed the Under-21 side and turned them into title contenders and the HFA will not be wanting to lose him. Perhaps a shock second round place will change the coach’s mind but one thing is for sure Hypocria’s players will be playing out of their skin to try and ensure that their coach doesn’t end his time in charge with a defeat.

Starblaydia Qualify Again
4-2 Goal-fest sees off Lovisa

With only Tonissia left to play, Starblaydia's Under-21s are guaranteed to progress to the Second Round of the competition after a thrilling 4-2 victory over Lovisa.

In the first Under-21 meeting between these sides (Starblaydia have actually never played any of the other three sides in Group D in their thirty-eight year history before) Starblaydia came away with the victory thanks to a Mercutio Hat-trick and a supplementary goal from substitute Roberto Vega. Khim Azanulbizarn's side need only a draw from their final match with Tonissia to ensure they go through as Group Winners, though if Bettia fail to win their third and final match against Lovisa, Starblaydia's place as Group Winners will be sealed.

The Starblaydi formation was very flexible throughout the game, switching with ease from 5-3-2 to 4-4-2 to even a 4-1-3-2 and 4-3-3 with ease. That is down to both the players and the manager, as Khim has made this Starblaydi side excellent in transistion from defence to attack and vice versa. The pace and intelligence of players such as Cherry Garcia, Menecrates - the captain - and Reynaldo adds up to a fluid and highly-dangerous attacking flair, combined with the defensive stabilty of the centre-backs. That is a Championship-winning combination, now all they need is a little luck.

Kansu-tastic!

Syku Kansu is definately making a name for himself in this Under 21 World Cup as he totally dominated the pitch from start to finish in a 1-nil victory over Jeruselem. Kansu's midgame goal proved to be the only one of the match as the Canucks got a crucial win over the higher-ranked team in their group. Beefy-Bumble-Holding and Yafor 2 are the only other two teams Hockey Canada needs to play for now.

The game started off with 16 year old Mexhisna Ateok~hana between the pipes filling the big shoes of longtime keeper Kyle Thomas. Syku Kansu had some trouble early on filling the role Yanic Perrault had on the team and Kansu Ty easily took Mike Ko's place on the striker position. The Rejistanian immigrants had had some difficultly coming to Hockey Canada, seeing how Rejistania is sending their communist team. Ironically enough, Hockey Canada is a communist nation.

Syku Kansu had the first scoring chance in the opening half when he was able to get past the Jeruselem defenders to move in for a shot. Kansu shook off a Jeruselem midfielder and blasted a quick shot that beat the Jeruselem keeper (who was diving in vain to keep the ball out of the net) only to hit the crossbar to a bunch of Hockey Canadian "Awwww"s. Kansu was able to recover from that quickly when a rush for Jeruselem's attack was halted by Kansu's smart play.

Hockey Canada didn't stop with just Kansu; all lines were firing on the Jeruselem net. Midfielder Miru I Lyku got two good shots off at the Jeruselem keeper before the half ended. Not to leave out striker Kansu Ty who hit a post to another chorus of "Awwwww"s and 16 year old Kansu Syku nearly got a goal in the 44th minute only for the play to be flagged offside.

Syku Kansu finally got a goal in the 46th minute when he got past the Jeruselem defense in an amazing rush that saw him get by three Jeruselem players all struggling to take the ball from Kansu. He got by a fourth player who was sliding at him to find himself one-on-one with the Jeruselem keeper. Moving in on the net the Jeruselem keeper did not challenge Kansu leaving a seemingly larger net for him to place the ball into giving Hockey Canada the lead.

Jeruselem attacked relentlessly to avoid the early-tournement loss but to no avail as they ran into an incredibly hot Hockey Canadian defense lead by Syku Kansu. Mehlik Atantaj nearly saved the came for the Canucks when Jeruselem got a shot on net trickling behind Mexhisna Ateok~hana. Atantaj got behind the ball slowly edging towards the goal line to kcik it out of harm's way preserving the lead.

The final whistle blew to many cheers in Hockey Canadam not to mention a few others around the world. Meanwhile, in other news in Group C, Beefy-Bumble-Holding held on to a 1-0 win over unranked Yafor 2. Hockey Canada currently hold the number one spot in group C, but with two games left in the round-robin, any team can trip and fall.

Liamist States – Spruitland: 1 – 5

For the third match in a row, the Bunnies achieved a comfortable victory in which they scored five goals. Starting with the smashing 5-0 WC18 Final win against Hypocria, they are now continuing the trend in the U21WC19 group stage. Tonight it was the Liamist goalie’s turn to pick the ball out of his net five times.

Team captain Chico Provoost added two more goals to his record, scoring the first and last of the match, and attacking midfielder Gerco Schoofs notched two as well, bringing his Under-21 total to six. Right winger Robbe Conté completed the Spruitland scoresheet, with his first international goal.

The Bunnies are not yet mathematically certain of advancing to the second round, but it would take some extreme matchday 3 results to avoid the inevitable. Without totally ignoring the third match against newcomers New Elijah, coach Paulo Bachchan can now start preparing for the knock out stages. The second round opponent will be whichever team comes in second place in Group D.

“Looks like that’ll be Bettia,” Bachchan says. “Unless Khim’s boys slip up in their next match, but I doubt that. I’d rather wait to face the Starblaydis until a later round though, after we’ve had a few more warm-up matches – we’re hardly breaking a sweat in the group stage. So Bettia would be a nice second round opponent, a derby’s always good to increase the intensity of a match.”

One derby that will probably not take place at this World Cup is a re-match of the previous Final. Hypocria, losing U21WC18 finalist and Spruitland’s main football rival, are just a hair’s-breadth away from an early exit, after embarrassing defeats to unranked teams.

“Aye, them Rhynos been playing like they been toking on the bong a li’l too much,” goalkeeper Gerwald de Wind snickers. “Not a good idea when you’re not used to it like us. And don’t be drinking that bong water either.”

Canucks Cwalify

A win over Yafor 2 sealed the deal for Hockey Canada as they got into the Round-of-16 for the 6th straight time. Syku Kansu scored once again in the game which saw Hockey canada get the needed three points to get six to qualify. Yafor 2 and 7th ranked Jeruselem are yet to get any points in the tournement as both teams will drop out. Especially surprised is Jeruselem whom Hockey canada projected to finish second place behind Hockey Canada.

Beefy-Bumble-Holding and Hockey canada will square off tonight in a battle for 1st place in Group C. it's anybody's game for now.

(But we hope it'll be Hockey Canada's 3 points).

Patty Paterson I'm live in An Archia and the An Archists have just won their second consecutive U21 World cup game. In a high scoring match, keeper Robert Robertson managed to do just enough to keep his team on top after the final whistle. Erick Erickson scored a hat trick, while William Williamson, Sam Samson and Fredrick Fredrickson each contributed one goal apiece. Scoring for Hypocria were Eagles with two, Dargo and in a suprising turn of events goal keeper Alexei Lomaia. The First score of the match, in minute 14, was one of the most interesting moments in the tournament as Alexei Lomaia came twelve meters out of the box to make a tackle on Jack Jackson. The ball went in the direction of Sanderson, a brilliant passer so Lomaia raced toward it and kicked it down field. Miraculously, the ball went in the net. Said An Archist keeper Robertson, "I was unprepared for that shot, but you just never expect something like that to go in." The next two goals came in the 34th and 44th minutes for Erickson. Hypocria came out at half time on fire scoring three goals in the first fifteen minutes of the half. In the 65th minute, Williamson turned the momentum of the game by scoring on a brilliant play dribbling the ball through three Hypocrian defenders and blazing the ball into the top right corner. Fredrickson and Samson each added goals in the 76th and Erickson put the game away in the 85th with his third goal of the match. Commenting after the match Erickson had this to say.
Erick Erickson: Hypocria is such a good team on the defensive end and I was just surprised at how much success I was having against them. Today I felt like I just couldn't be stopped. I knew I'd get the hat trick the moment I stepped on the field.
Patty Paterson: The An Archists next match is against Cockbill Street to sweep the group.

Starblaydia... Second?
Ibanez Red Card Screws Starblaydia Vs Spruitland

We all knew it had to happen eventually, though we didn't quite know when or how it would come, Francisco Ibanez was sent off for the Starblaydi Under-21s. When your all-time footballing hero has coached you, and when that all-time hero is Paulo Bachchan (Honorary Rabbit), you're bound to get your fair share of red cards.

What we didn't know, however, was that the red card would be preceeded by an Ibanez flying-kick to the chest of a Tonissian player. That and the 40-man brawl that started soon after. So, despite being 1-0 up, Starblaydia then went on to lose 3-1 against Tonissia. Ibanez is now ruled-out of the Second Round match against defending champions (Really? I didn't know that. - Ed) Spruitland and probably any further matches, should Starblaydia get that far.

Cherry Garcia's goal was pretty sweet, though, pity the team will have to try out a whole new formation as the only other right-back in the team is just 13. Aw, crap.

JS: "And now we go to Simon Ketterling with sports. Simon?"

SK: "Well, Jane, it's business as usual on the international football front, with our AOCAF team falling two-nil to Hypocria, giving them a 1-0-2 record. And that same scoreline also against Nedalia in the under-21 championships, bringing us to 0-0-2 and out of competition. All in all, nothing out of the ordinary."

JS: "Unfortunately."

SK: "Indeed. In other news, rumors are flying at Floral FC about..."

An archy Rules!

For ninety minutes the An archy Under-21 side will gain a few hundred million extra fans as they take on Cockbill Street in the final round of group games. It’s not like we have anything against our eastern neighbours aside from the fact they best the Hyppos on the opening day. We beat them a couple of years ago, by the same scoreline incidentally, so there’s no hard feelings there. It just that a win for An archy is needed to ensure an unlikely second round place for the Hyppos. A big win would be even better as goal difference will certainly come into play so if the group leaders could go medieval on the Street’s GD column that would be lovely.

Of course there is still the small matter of Hypocria’s own game against tournament debutants JSTEP. A game the Hyppos have to win (along with victory for An archy) and win well to ensure that pesky goal difference doesn’t come back to haunt them.

But why are the side doing so badly? We are after all the second best team in the world apparently. Certainly the ineligibility of defender and former captain Marius Black has left a major hole at the back and the loss of goalkeeper Stephen Drakes and midfielders Bercali, Rytter and Whelan to the AOCAF squad hasn’t helped either. But if you were to take a look back through the history books you my notice that the top seeded sides tend not to do so well. You have to go back to Under-21 World Cup 14 to find the last time the top ranked nation actually went on to lift the trophy. And , as far as we can tell, the second seeds have never won it. A trend that looks like it will continue. So perhaps a drop in the rankings would be a good thing, we were after all ranked 5th when we reached the final.

But hey, we could still get there again this time. Come on the Hyppos and come on An archy!

PALADINS CRASH, BURN IN STANDINGS

3-3 draw against Jon Parkin takes Paladins out of Contention

TnUI - As promised, the Paladins took to the pitch in squirrel costumes, and it actually had an effect on the caliber of play as the Paladins picked up a 3-3 draw against Jon Parkin.

The preschoolers sent onto the Pitch stumbled early, giving up goals in the 13th and 18th minutes as Jon Parkin seized an early lead. Little Nicky managed to make it 2-1 at the half when the Parkin keeper tripped over a teddy bear someone had dropped. The shot floated over his prostate body and into the net for the goal.

The second half began much as the first half did, with Jon Parkin controlling the pace of play. This cumulated in a Parkin goal at 60 minutes in. When the players were assembling at midfield, Little Johnny went up to the ref and said that he had pooped his pants. When the ref was distracted about what the hell he should do, the other preschoolers scattered marbles on the Parkin side of the field. The slip-sliding defense was no match for the refocused toddlers, and Little Suzie scored two goals in short order (at 78 and 81 minutes) to even up the game. Several good shots either narrowly missed or were blocked by the Parkin keeper during the final minutes.

Coach Phillipe Jean-Rene announced that he was proud of the results his team had accomplished against the 8th-ranked team in the world. For the next game, he said, his players would dress up as airplanes and run around slamming into the other players, thus lending some substance to the "Kamikaze" style he is employing.

The players were unable to comment as it was naptime.

Kodikits In Second, Forgot This Was On

The Chicanadans, enraptured with the overly huge and thrilling FA Cup, did not notice that a u21 Cup was occuring, and even with a 1-0 loss to Vilita the team looks like it could be advancing out of Group F.

Star of the Kodiak National Side, Olani Pjan, was in the stands during the loss and was seen talking with the coaches and players after the match, Pjan, who could be inking a deal with Liga 1 squad Hull City by the end of the week, was heard to say she was surprised by the weird play of Paris Asmilov, who looks in line to jump to the national side for NSWCXXV.

Comming in with their highest ranking ever - fifth - the Kodikits were expected to have problems with Vilita and the expectations came true in the 49th minute when a Vilitan midfielder scored off a header, slipping it past goalkeep

What is suprising is that the goalkeep wasn't replaced by Coach Clint Dempsey after the the Kodikits got into a scoring frezny against defensively-minded Rejistania. A 4-2 victory was most impressive, especially Michelle Opoxia's hattrick making her look like the newest woman to shine from LigaW as well as Arsenal's Hisam Forensca in the final minutes cementing the win, but the odd play of the defense is in need of shoring up if the Kodikits hopes to defeat Oliverry in what is essentially a playoff game. The u21ers can advance with a win or a tie thanks to a 3 goal difference between the sides, but expect Dempsey to push the Kodikits to look more impressive before the Round of 16.

Ijanaeil puts one in at the end to give Fmjphoenix win, second place

The defensive expierence in Fmjphoenix continues. This time around though the Junior Vikings remembered to put on away before the match was over. Siieranu Ijanaeil scored the Junior Vikings first goal in the U21WC19 campaign and Fmjphoenix defeated Ruventsoria 1-0.

Most of the 90 minutes was spent by Fmjphoenix playing back in their territory, holding the ball for 72 total minutes. The major action started at the 75th minute, after only the second shot that Ruventsoria was able to take. It was then that the Junior Vikings decided, or remembered, that to win, they needed to score a goal. Thats when the Rejistanian born Ijanaeil went into action. It took a few minutes for the Junior Vikings to crawl up the field, but they managed to make it. In the end though, it was all Ijanaeil. He took a pass from Laura Boyd and put it right into the back of the net. No challenge.

Things have been rather different for Fmjphoenix fans and for the Junior Vikings themselves. Even though they are not a normally defensive-minded team, havin two Rejistanian people on the squad has helped the team rapidly learn how to be defensive minded. But it is still expected that no matter the result of this chase, Fmjphoenix will return to a attack-oriented team. But this cupis still active, and the Junior Vikings play Liverpool England's U21 squad.

Fmjphoenix: 1 - Ruventsoria: 0

Pacitalia takes match number two (by two), hold on to top spot in group

Probably the toughest match of this tournament came today against fellow first-match winner Milchama. Instead of floundering, Pacitalia stood confidently, knowing that this cup could finally be the one where they made up some ground in the seedings and made a name for themselves.

Milchama and Pacitalia were seeded 15 and 12, respectively, for this cup, meaning that betting agencies weren't picking a favourite for this game. Some did go as far to pick Pacitalia or Milchama, but that was, in all cases, by narrow point spreads. The game was supposed to be close, but it ended up not so close, and the Blue Foxes and their fans were the ones who went home happy, with a convincing 2:0 victory over Milchama.

The game appeared to be a show of defence from both sides in the early going, as the two nations' defences held up well against the scarce offensive outputs. Pacitalian goaltender Romano Cristiano Santi made an excellent fingertip save in the 29th that sent the ball within millimetres of the left goalpost (proven upon watching the replay). That wonderful play seemed to boost the momentum over to the Blue Foxes and Massimo da Scupeta finished off great footwork, needling through the defence and pushing the ball past the Milchaman goaltender to put the home squad up, 1:0.

Halftime came and went, only to see further offensive onslaught by the Blue Foxes on the Milchaman back-pitch formation. Finally, in the 61st, the Dynamic Duo broke past for the second time as da Scupeta faked a shot and passed all the way over to a gaining Massimatto, who flicked the ball into the empty net and put the game almost out of reach, 2:0.

The score stayed that way to the end of the match, and Pacitalia remains undefeated in the round-robin at 2-0-0 with a matchup against unseeded New Montreal States coming up next. Milchama falls to 1-0-1 but remains in second, as NMS and Jon Parkin drew 3:3 and stay at the bottom at one point a piece. Milchama and Jon Parkin play each other next.

Milchama shut out

In a mostly boring match the Milchama Warriors were shut out quite handily by the Pacitalia Blue Foxes. Coach Patrice Thibault said, "This was a good thing. These kids were overconfident after their thrashing of NMS they thought that by just showing they could be anyone, this will humble them a little bit and make our game against Jon Parkin much better." Despite this loss the Milchama Warriors are still in second with 3 points and a 6-2 victory means that goal difference should not be an issue.

The Warriors now look ahead to their next game against the number 8 team in the world Jon Parkin. Captain Daveed Lintooney said, "This should be a tough match. They are a really good team but we have some guys who will be really good. Look out for Floren Albentine I bet you he scores a goal." One can only hope so right now.

Nine points earns tough second round?

Spruitland – New Elijah: 3 – 1

For Spruitland, scoring only three goals in a match in the Under-21 World Cup group stage is a bit on the skimpy side, but three points are three points, so we’re not gonna complain. Besides, the final score could just as easily have been 5-1, because unlucky striker Robbad I. Asay saw two of his goals unjustly disallowed yet again – one for offside and one for a foul so light it had Bachchan fuming along the sideline, not at the referee, but at poor Robbad.

“It’s so frustrating,” the young Hecia FC striker sighed after the match. “I was robbed twice, that’s what I say!”

Chico Provoost did manage to score another goal – his fifth of the tournament – and Julien Dewaele and Gilles De Wilde didn’t have their goals disallowed either. De Wilde would later receive a red card for an over-enthusiastic elbow-swing, which was part of the reason why the match slowed down in the second half.

Late in the match the Spruitland squad was even reduced to nine when goalkeeper Gerwald de Wind rushed out of goal towards an Elijah forward who had broken through the defense. Gerwald went straight for the knees, ignoring the ball entirely, and didn’t let go of the forward’s legs until he was certain he was down. Substitute goalie Walter Mahot was unable to stop the penalty kick.

“Coach asked us to sharpen it up in the duels,” De Wilde would explain his red card. “And he didn’t ask too nicely either. Normally there’s no need for us to get all medieval in the group stage yet, but there’s this Starblaydi kid who’s been setting the right example, and coach felt we were falling behind.”

Ironically, there’s a decent chance the Bunnies will be facing Starblaydia in the second round. The self-declared “most successful youth squad in the world” has been limping behind its own reputation lately, and a painful defeat by perennial also-ran Tonissia marked a new low point in their Under-21 history. This gives Bettia the chance to snatch the top spot in group D, and that would mean a tough second round match for both Starblaydia and Spruitland.

Spruitland supporters feel this would be the perfect opportunity to get even for the Bunnies’ very first international match, back in the days of Under-21 World Cup 15, when Starblaydia won 2-0. Or for the 2-1 in the quarter final of Under-21 World Cup 16. The two youth squads haven’t played each other since, and Spruitlanders are certain the gap has been adequately narrowed since then, perhaps even the tables turned, and the time is right to show the Starblaydis who the new kids in town are. Starblaydi-born Bunnies coach Paulo Bachchan is, uncharacteristically, a bit more moderate.

“Can we do it? Hell yeah. Is it gonna be easy? Hell no. You can’t wipe out several decades of tradition and experience by a few lousy matches here and there. Even if it is against Tonissia. Hell, we lost to Oliverry last time before going on to win the thing. If anything, a loss to a crappy team makes you more dangerous. Wounded dogs bite harder. We just gotta make sure they’ll sink their teeth into their own tail.”

Spruitland – New Elijah: 3 – 1
1-0 De Wilde (24’)
2-0 Dewaele (36’)
3-0 Provoost (51’)
3-1 some Elijah dude (pen. 82’)

Lost One Won One

Bettia 0
Starblaydia 1 (Raphaelo 12)

The Young'Uns kicked off their World Cup campaign against highly-rated Starblaydia, and found themselves on the receiving end of a dominant 'blaydi display.

Starblaydia, playing with what was to them an unfamiliar five-man defence, soon got into their stride and went ahead after just 12 minutes through Iskara Daii striker Raphaelo.

Chances for the Young'Uns were few and far between in the first half, although Gwarthen Rhydderch was kicking himself after being put through on goal only to screw his shot wide.

The second half was slightly more even with chances falling for both sides, but Bettia were unable to find the breakthrough they needed and so Starblaydia held on to claim all three points.

Bettia 6 (Rhydderch 4 35, Devanallt 43 87 89, Ap Tegryn 60)
Tonissia 4 (?? 21 34 71 77)

Bettia came into this match knowing they had to put in a vastly improved performance if they were to stand any chance of progressing past the first round. They duly delivered, putting in a easy-on-the-eye attacking display that eventually proved too much for their opponents, although the defending left a lot to be desired.

They got off to the perfect start as Gwarthen Rhydderch fired in from just outside the area after just four minutes. However, they were unable to capitalise on this flying start and Tonissia soon found themselves 2-1 up.

The Young'Uns responded immediately as Rhydderch equalised a minute later after latching onto a cross, and Gwrlais Devanallt ensured Bettia went into half-time in front after crashing the ball home following a goalmouth scramble.

The scoreline read 4-2 soon into the second half courtesy of a Ali Ap Tegryn free-kick which curled visciously around the wall and past the despairing keeper. The drama didn't stop there though, as Tonissa bravely fought back and clawed their way back on level terms thanks to a six-minute purple patch.

And so the match seemed destined to end in a draw, but Bettia's youngsters don't like doing things the easy way. After a Rhydderch shot was turned away by the Tonissia keeper, Gwrlais Devanallt was on hand to head in the resulting corner, and just two minutes later the Akani Sands striker (who has been linked to high-flying upstarts CPD Porthbalfa) made the game safe after pouncing onto a moment of indecision by a Tonissian centre-back.

And so Bettia find themselves going into their vital match against Lovisa in second place, and with a real chance of going through to the next stage.

This is An Archist News, your official station for the Under 21 World Cup.

Patty Paterson: Yesterday evening the An Archist national under 21 soccer team completed pool play with a tie against Cockbill street. While the players are disappointed with the result, they are excited about the upcoming match against Hockey Canada. Coach Andy Anderson talked with reporters after the game.

Andy Anderson: Well, my players gave it their best effort and that's all you can ask for. You know, you can't win 'em all. Anyway, Cockbill street played inspired soccer. They knew they needed that tie.

Patty Paterson: Indeed they did, as an unkown player from Cockbill street scored two goals in the last fifteen minutes of play to tie the match. On the An Archist side, Erickson and Williams each scored once and Jackson got his first goal of tournament. Today the An Archists are practicing hard for what will likely be the toughest game of their lives. John Johnson is live at Anderson Stadium with Fredrick Fredrickson.

John Johnson: Thank you, Patty. Fredrick, how do you plan to approach this difficult Hockey Canada team?

Fredrick Fredrickson: Well, I'm not givin' anything away you know, but I can tell you that I plan to hit 'em real hard.

John Johnson: Are you doing any special practices or workouts to prepare for the game?

Fredrick Fredrickson: Not really. We're just gonna go with what's been workin' for us the whole tournament.

John Johnson: Can you give us a prediction for the game?

Fredrick Fredrickson: Well, I'm not gonna guarantee anything like Joe Namath or somethin' but I'm real confident about this match, John.

Patty Paterson: It looks like this is shaping up to be an exciting match up.

U21 Workforce goes down in battle

The U21 workforce went down 3:4 in a heroic battle against Oliverry. Despite being the underdogs, once again, the U21-workforce gave the Oliverrans a hard battle and did not give up despite being temporarily down 0:3. The nonexistant defense of the workforce proved to be something of a problem, but it is more communistic to always proceed and never draw back into the own half as if the team is a crappy mainland*-team. And while a team from mainland would faltered and committed ritual suicide in half time, the U21 workforce simply kept on fighting and kept on attacking. The 1:3 was a team effort, even though Sehtilajhinin Kijuh was the one, who was listed as scorer. The workforce substituted him out after the goal and Kexiil Sekumitdali in. Coach Xahnatu Shixinatu by this followed the tradition of giving everyone in the team the chance to score. Maybe because until the 79th minute, 3 players were substituted after having scored, the attack was too uncoordinated to be able to reply the the 4:3 by <striker with weird French name>.

*"mainland" is not exactly how the communists call it. The real expression is like 'the big land south'. In the translation, such a term would be longer and more difficult to read, therefore it was changed.
OOC: yes, sometimes, I think about the way rejistanians would use the words. And I am pretty sure that for commurejistanians, their land is the tani mintan (mainland).

Late Goal for Milchama leads to draw with Jon Parkin

The Milchama Warriors advanced to the second round of the U21 World Cup today after drawing with Jon Parkin 1-1. The #8 seeded team Jon Parkin had a dissapointing U21 tournament this time after going to quarterfinals last time. Thier dissapointment however is Milchama's joy because the Warriors managed to leave the goal late but still tie the game. Coach Patrice Thibault said, "This is not two years ago when we romped through the group but it is good enough to get us through and that is what matters. Sure we got 7 points last time but we lost in the second round. If we get 4 points this time but get to the quarterfinals then we actually do better than last time."
Match Report:
The match started badly for the Warriors who looked early liked their older couterparts in qualifying when they just could not score on offense and have the usual sub par defense. The goal for Jon Parkin came only 9 minutes in when Cheeseman got a perfect cross from The Cow and headed the ball in to make it 1-0. After the goal the defense settled down but the offense could not get going and Patrice Thibault seemed to get more and more annoyed from the sidelines. The Warriors almost conceded a second goal when Cheeseman shot a free kick from just outside the box that almost went in but was saved brilliantly by Clay Finton. The score at halftime was 1-0 Jon Parkin.
Second Half:
The Warriors started to attack more in the second half espiecially with Elana Kilinin calling the shots in the midfield. In the 50th minute she almost scored but was blocked by a beautiful save by the keeper. After that shot the offense stagnated a bit and possesion returned more or less to the Milkmen of Jon Parkin. The Milkmen almost got their second again in the 67th when Milhic went thru the defense and shot just high. After that shot the Milkmen really went on the offensive and Cheeseman got his shot saved by Finton and the next corner kick The Cow almost scored on a header. In the 75th minute Patrice Thibualt became desperate and put in two new strikers Floren Albentine and Bat Nackson for Zar Johnson and Chuck Farenstein. Milchama then shifted to a 3-2-1-4 formation. The new subs almost produced a goal immediately as Nackson was fouled and the insuing free kick went to Albentine who shot it high. Although only 3 minutes later Nackson and Albentine did produce a goal. Thompson got the ball on the wing of the Warriors third and passed it foward to Kilinin. Kilinin then went to the midfield line and passed the ball forward to Nackson who dribbled it down to the wing of the box and swung the cross in that hit Albentine perfectly on the head and that header went into the back of the net to tie the game at 1. Nothing important happened after the Warriors goal. Floren Albentine will start in place of Zar Johnson in the Warriors second round game.
Final Score:
Jon Parkin 1 (Cheeseman 9)
Milchama 1 (Albentine 82)
Pacitalia

Unbeaten? Unbelievable!

After nine years of underachieving mediocrity in the U21 World Cup circuit, Pacitalia has come back - in a very big way. Yes, although hard to believe, the once-embarrassing Pacitalian Blue Foxes have finished the round-robin at a perfect 3-0-0 for the first time since entering this competition nearly a decade ago. One of three teams to earn a perfect record in this incarnation, Pacitalia advances to the knockouts with a new lease on life - if that's not an understatement in itself.

Pacitalia started the tournament with a narrow but hard-earned 3:2 victory over loudmouth Jon Parkin - who, after reaching the quarterfinals as an unseeded upstart last year, crashed out this time and did not qualify after finishing third in Group E - and downed Milchama 2:0 in the second match. Today, the perfect record was set in stone with another 3:2 victory, this time over unseeded New Montreal States.

In this game, New Montreal States actually jumped out to a 2:0 lead, to the worry of the fans, who did not yet know the score of the Milchama-Jon Parkin match. Had Milchama won and Pacitalia lost, that could have jeopardised Pacitalia's chances of taking first in the group at the last minute. The Blue Foxes had already qualified, but first place would have made things a lot sweeter. And the fans certainly let the Foxes have it, though in a good way, with lots of cheering, screaming and flag-waving in this 71,544-capacity stadium in TnUI. By halftime, Pacitalia had cut NMS' lead in half with a nice strike from Andreos Charisteas in the 42nd minute to make it 2:1 for NMS.

Straight into the second half, the twelfth-seeded Pacitalians equalised on Bertrando Massimatto's careful corner kick right into the box that sent the ball zooming right through the hands of the NMS goalkeeper and onto the waiting foot of Dario Pasquale. 2:2 was the score through the 50, 60 and 70 minute brackets. Thankfully, a draw wasn't to order, and as luck and fate would have it, reliable substitute player Afino Boranogunta - who replaced Veneto Santo Sebastiano in the 58th after the starting midforward sprained his ankle, and who is expected to take a starting spot next year - struck the ball cleanly and watched in yells of joy and ecstasy as it sailed past the outstretched, frantic arms of the goaltender in the 76th minute, to give Pacitalia the 3:2 lead and the victory.

As for Santo Sebastiano, it is expected he will not return to the pitch for at least two games as the sprain in his ankle appears rather serious. However, as mentioned, the Blue Foxes have a very reliable and talented young man waiting in the wings to take the reins of the midforward line and create (with fellow MFer Bertrando Massimatto) a superb backstop to the Dynamic Duo. It's left die-hard Pacitalian fans wondering: perhaps this is the start of a new Dynamic Duo?

Pacitalia moves on to the second round to play 19th-seed Ruventsoria. It's expected that yet another great game will be played here, as Pacitalia attempts to make it past the apparently tough second round for only the third time in ten years. After that, maybe, just maybe, Pacitalian football fans will get their wish: to see the Blue Foxes contend.

Kodikits Tie, Make Final 8 Again

Aparrently Coach Dempsey doesn't want to tempt fate, as he left Paris Asmilov in for their final group game against Oliverry which almost ended in disaster for the Kodikits.

A 2-1 defecit was had in the first half after Hisam Forensca scored for the Kodikits early but the Oliverrian side getting goals at the 30 and 45th minutes, one off a header and the other comming from a corner kick. Rather than switch to Anabeth Liansel, Dempsey allowed Asmilov to stay in keep and got very very lucky that Michelle Opoxia received a penalty kick thanks to a bizarre tripping penalty by the Oliverrian goalkeep to manage a tie and advancement to the Round of 16.

Dempsey was criticized by the CFA for not pulling Asmilov after the vilita game, but Dempsey said he was happy with his progress, and with the Aeros coach looking to be the fave to become the National coach, maybe he wants a goalie he likes to be there?

The Kodikits Ro16 opponent was unknown Klakistany. The Klakistani side made their presence early, as they scored off a deflection from the still-not-pulled Asmilov to have a 1-0 lead after 12 minutes. The Kodikits came back in a hurry, however, with two goals in a minute thanks to the quick speed of Ashley Nottsena. Nottsena, who headed a corner for a goal at the 23rd minute, took the pass from Opoxia past the Klakistani goalkeep 54 seconds later, after the opposing side had a horrid pass to start their newest possession, allowing Opoxia to snatch the ball and send it well downfield.

An archy v. Hockey Canada

We like the Cinderellas here, so we'll say An archy pulls the upset and progresses onward.

Spuritland v Starblaydia

This looks more like a final (well, the last final) and while the Bunnies have been adorable (as Jaquee would say) and played some crazy soccer, we're thinking the Starbladi side might want a win a tad more.

Beefy-Bumble-Holding v Cockbill Street

Cockbill unranked against...um...we're not sure. We love the BBH name but we like Cockbill more in this matchup.

Bettia v Marligantis

This could be interesting to see how two smaller clubs play against each other. Marligantis tends to send their young players abroad moreso than Bettia, and we're thinking the international experience will help Marligantis through.

Pacitalia v Ruventsoria

Palacita managed to stay undefeated and should keep that up at least one more game.

Vilita v Nedalia

Nedalia always looses when we say they win, but this time we expect them to drop to the Jungle Kitties.

Fmjphoenix v Milchama

The Kodikit's next opponent is a team they beat last time around. We're thinking we'll get a shot at going 2-0-2 against Fmj, but never count out those pesky Milchamans.

- Quaterfinal predictions

Starblaydia over An archy
Cockbill Street over Marligantis
Vilita over Pacitalia
Chicanada over Fmjphoenix

- Semifinal predictions

Vilita over Chicanada

Vilita wins the cup over Cockbill.

Hypocria 2 - 1 JSTEP

It was win at least but it was nothing worth celebrating as Hypocria finished the tournament bottom of the group. Defeats to An archy and neighbours Cockbill Street left the Hyppos hanging on by their fingertips, needing a win over JSTEP and an An archy victory over Cockbill Street to have any chance of progressing. It didn’t happen as An archy and Cockbill Street drew to dump the second seeds out of the competition.

Cockbill Street 3 1 1 1 8 7 1 4
JSTEP 3 1 0 2 6 7 -1 3
Hypocria 3 1 0 2 7 10 -3 3

But at least Boubacar Dragov can end his spell in charge of the Under-21 side with a win as the coach has confirmed that the JSTEP game is his last in charge. After leading the side to third place and second place in the previous two tournaments the coach felt he had taken the side as far as he could and now hands over the reins to someone new.

Who that new coach will be is as yet unknown but the HFA are rumoured to be in favour of making an internal appointment, which would be a change from their previous love of foreign coaches.

GOALKEEPERS:

[ 95 ] Jawz Oaker [ - Inland Peaks FC - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 20 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Jawz Oaker is the son of Colonial Sile and Oaker national midfielder Arthin Oaker, who moved to Vilita early in his career after his impressive performances for Oaker in past World Cups. Jawz was called up to the Vilita Under 21 squad as Oaker did not participate in the Under-21's, qualifying through his residency and his Mother, a Vilitan. The young keeper spent most of Season 15 on loan to Mavaloiao, before being recruited by Doug Freech's Lopinka side, Declasse champions looking for a starting keeper for their return campain in the Stellar Division. However, hometown Makosile's vast improvements in Season 16 saw the youngster quick to return home to bask in the spotlight with one of Vilita's rising new powers. Despite earning the Goalkeeper of the year award, Oaker's team was not able to compete and spent more time at the bottom of the table then the top, prompting the young keeper to depart once again, this time to Champions League bound inland Peaks FC.

[ 91 ] Jimmy Jaded [ - Turoki Tide - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 14 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Jimmy Jaded became one of the youngest players in Vilitan history to receive a professional contract when his Turoki Tide were invited to the Vilitan Declasse in Season 18. Jaded was the only keeper left at the small Turoki club after senior keeper Mital Siegalafel retired at the age of 47 due to injury and fatigue. The Tide will be looking to bring in some experienced cover for Jaded during the season, but the youngster impressed former Goalkeeper Bryan 'Pop' Duiker enough to become the youngest player ever called into the Vilitan Under 21 squad, Duiker asking Jaded to cover as backup for Jawz Oaker in Under 21 World Cup 18. The potential of Jimmy Jaded was quickly spotted, and the youngster made a cross-town switch to the Stellar Division to join Turoki United for Season 21.

FORWARDS:

[ 17 ] Tika Massa [ - Strike FC - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: 3 U21: 9 REG: 3 )
Tika Massa was thrust into the Vilitan Spotlight after netting on his debut performance in the Jurassic Invitational Tournament after coming on as a sub. Massa's late goal sent Vilita into the Semi Finals of the inagural Jurassic competition. Massa's performances earned him a transfer to the admitedly more high profile club of Eastal Lunar, from Makosile where he trained as a youth. Massa was an instant hit at Eastal lunar netting 7 times in 18 games and helping them to the Season 15 Vilitan Cup title. Massa' impressive performances for Eastal Lunar earned him a transfer to Marine Coast United where he netted a career high 8 goals in Season 17. With Marine Coast's form slipping, and Cednia Beach's stock rising, the Season 17 champions tabled a bid for the Vilitan Under 21 International and Massa made his first appearances for the Turorian Club during the 6th NS Champions League. After netting 6 times in 36 appearances for Cednia Beach, Massa made his second consecutive move to the Stellar Division Champions, making the high profile switch to Strike FC in Season 19.

Wrice made 10 appearances for Inland Peaks in Season 15, and his 5 goals helped propel the team to the top 5 in the table at the halfway point. The young striker's potential did not go unnoticed, and Turoki Isle opened up their pockets to make an offer the smaller Inlands club could not refuse, bringing the Under-21 International to Turoki Isle. Wrice would spend two seasons at Turoki Isle, netting 21 goals for the club before making a high-profile transfer to Marine Coast United during Season 17.

Tristam Bumbar added his name to a very short list of recognized internationals from the Yutzie Sorma acadamy by being called up to the Vilitan Under-21's for The 14th Under 21 Championships. After three seasons in the first team at Yutzie Sorma, Bumbar was recruited by the Yeaddin Owls in Season 18. the Then-19 year old only made two appearances in the first team, as a substitute, in his first season with the team. Bumbar was surplus to requirements in Yeaddin and made the switch to Turoki Isle midway through Season 19.

Junior Vikings get enough to move on, prepare to play Chicanda again

With a goal from Laura Boyd and Brian Dougood, the Junior Vikings survived their first conceeded goal of the tournament to move on the the quarter finals to play Chicanda after their 2-1 victory over Milchama.

The victory has sent fans into a bit of a clash. Loyal fans of Fmjphoenix love to see the high scoring events that their U21 national team always produces, but some people have taken notice of the defensive style because they have been winning. Although Coach Syku has said that the team will returh to and attacking formation in U21WC20, he has said that this has been an interesting expierence.

"Although this has been an interesting and so far, successful expierence for us, this is not the natural talent of these players. They are natural goalscorers, and I want to use their talents to the max. We have been limited, but we have produced when we needed. This has been a good test to show what they are able to do. The fact that they can play at a high level and win using secondary skills shows that they have imense talent. It is definetly a good learning expierence. Now it is time for us to prepare for the next match. We have to play Chicanda. They are a good side and will definetly give us a fight. I believe that we can win this and prove once again that we are one of the elite teams in the U21." Said Lyku after the Milchama matchup.

Ruventsoria dealt AET elimination in an excellent match

What was expected to be a dull matchup between a 12th seed and a 19th seed quickly turned out to the exact opposite as Pacitalia (12) and Ruventsoria (19) combined to create an outstanding, exciting match from "zero to 90". Although Ruventsoria lost, they certainly gave the Pacitalians something to worry about through the entire game. Thankfully, the Blue Foxes had their own agenda - advance to the quarterfinals. And that they did, taking a fluke Ruventsorian defensive miscue to the bank and putting away a scorcher goal to win the game 2:1 in extra time.

The first half was completely defensive from both sides, as the goalkeepers and defensive lineups were put to task. Both nations' defences performed admirably, as the score remained deadlocked at nil-nil at the halfway mark. Pacitalian fans and players were surprised but admiring of the Ruventsorian motivation to succeed, and this motivation certainly almost gave the opponents chances to take the game away many times. Thankfully, though, Pacitalia's offence showed up too, and in the 54th, Afino Boranogunta finally broke the deadlock, scoring his second of the tournament and giving Pacitalia a 1:0 lead.

Ruventsoria's motivation and determination only seemed to rise from there - 14 minutes later, the game was restored to a deadlock with Marco Inhambane's skillful shot past Romano Cristiano Santi, 1:1. Pacitalian fans were nervous: they knew the game could not end in a draw, so when stoppage time ended and the referee began the AET period, they knew it was, even more crucially than in the regular time of ninety minutes so duly expired, a 'score a goal or go home' situation. Extra time seemed to play havoc with the emotions of all fans in the stadium: one 24-year-old female Pacitalian fan was so nervous about the impending result she vomited all over the fan in front of her. Of course, she had been drinking as well, so that may have exacerbated the problem.

The episode was all for nothing, though, as three minutes later, Boranogunta made the headlines once more with a sweet top-right corner shot to give the Pacitalians the lead, 2:1. And that lead stuck through to the end of the twenty minute AET period, meaning that Pacitalia advances to the U21 quarterfinals for only the second time in their history; this time to play #11 Vilita, who knocked fourth-seed Nedalia out with an upset 2-1 result.

An archy ended by Commie Canucks

It wasn't pretty, but Hockey Canada mustered up a win over An archy to advance to the quarter-finals against Starblaydia. The players fought hard as well as defended to the bone, but the win came at too high a price. A price that must've came too high to the Canucks who; when looked upon the scoreboard at the final whistle had to avert their eyes. Under the An archy part of the scoreboard in Total n Utter Insanity wasn't a 0. It was a 1.

Hockey Canada's campaign with An archy began the usual way Hockey Canada plays. Score early and then build an unbreakable defence in front of their own net. Syku Kansu scored in the 4th minute when he scored what might be the goal of the tournement. Styarting from his own end he deked past two An archy strikers, four An archy midfielders and then two An archy defenders before running at the net deking out the challenging keeper for the goal. As the goal was televised all over the world Kansu didn't know how big the goal actually was.

Kansu scored once again when he took a long pass from Kansu Ty when running hard up the field. Ty crossed the ball into the An archy 6-yard box where the An archy keeper missed the ball but the ball connected with Kansu's head to give the Canucks a 2-0 lead. That wasn't all the goal scoring when An archy striker David Davidson took a lob pass from Sam Samson at the Hockey Canadian net to touch the ball over Mexhisna Ateok~hana and into the back of the net.

An archy tried to press and score more goals in the second half but to no avail. Kansu ended up scoring the hattrick when he ran deep into the An archy end and just outside the penalty area he drove to the net to be tripped by Sam Samson. Kansu took the kick with ease nailing the ball into the bottom-right corner of the net despite Robertson guessing correctly where the shot was going to go. After the rain of hats hit the field (tradition for a hattrick in Hockey Canada), the teams played out the game and the final whistle blew.

Hockey Canada will face 6th seeded Starblaydia in the next round. Starblaydia beat defending champs Spruitland just earlier yesterday and will not show mercy to the Canucks. But we'll be there through thick and skinny.

Blue Foxes too much for the Jungle Kitties

One of the toughest matches to date for Pacitalia was again, here. Yes, it seemed like with every progression through the playoffs, the pressure to perform and the difficulty of the opponents increased, but so far, Pacitalia held their own well against 19th seed Ruventsoria and defeated all three of their round-robin opponents. Who was next up against Pacitalia? Vilita, a team that has never beaten Pacitalia in U21 action (0-0-2 with 5:0 and 3:1 losses to the Blue Foxes), was seeded one higher than Pacitalia and was waiting to teach the Foxes a lesson about who was meant to be in the final four.

But, the Blue Foxes definitely weren't listening to that. Just ten minutes in, Afino Boranogunta scored his third goal in two matches, streaking past bewildered 'Kitty defender Ricata Tivalan, passing to Massimo da Scupeta and watching as the ball sailed back to him while goalkeeper Jawz Oaker took the pass bait and fell to the ground. Boranogunta knocked the ball between the yawning posts and Pacitalia took the early lead, 1:0.

The Jungle Kitties weren't about to let a one goal deficit get to them, however: In the 27th minute, 'Kitty forward Kris Wrice confunded Nicusor Petru Vasilica and the rest of the defence on his way to shoving the ball past Romano Cristiano Santi with his knee in a rather ingenious instant-replay-style goal. The score was then, of course, tied back up, at 1:1.

The Blue Foxes and their fans were not deterred, as 17 minutes of cheering, screaming, drum-beating, horn-blowing and flag-waving led to a beautiful goal by Andreos Charisteas in the 43rd to give Pacitalia the lead back, 2:1. The crowd was absolutely nutty with football ecstasy at this point, in disbelief that a good team such as Vilita had made an elementary defensive mistake and let that goal go by them.

The halftime giveth; the halftime taketh away. The second forty-five arrived to the screams of urgency from Vilitan fans, who watched as their national side came close to scoring a remarkable nine times in 28 minutes. By the 73rd, Vilitan fans seemed to be resigned to a loss as Pacitalia's defence began to solidify in the back and from that point prohibited any Jungle Kitty advances. The Vilitan fans' yells and cheers were replaced around the 75th minute by the fans of the Blue Foxes, who were doing everything they could to ensure this lead either increased or stuck like glue.

And it apparently worked, because in the 84th, Nicusor Petru Vasilica avenged his earlier defensive mistake and rubbed salt in the Jungle Kitties' wounds by striking a 31-metre goal past the frantically diving Oaker to give the Blue Foxes the late 3:1 lead.

Pacitalia moves onto the semifinals for the first time in their U21 history to face their most frequent opposition once more: Fmjphoenix. The latter nation switched to an AOD format this year on the double-dare of the Rejistanians, who, known for their strict defensive play, switched to AOA in return. Expect either a low-scoring match or a rather high-scoring one, but nonetheless, it will be a definite squeaker, most likely by one goal, and most likely decided in the very late stages of the game.

If Pacitalia wins its semifinal game against Fmjphoenix, they move to the final to play Hockey Canada or Bettia. If they lose, they play a Third-Place Match against either of those two same nations. So, therefore, the Blue Foxes are guaranteed at least a fourth-place finish, which is great by Pacitalian fans' standards, and a definite shot up in the rankings.

Milchama bow out is second round again

For the second straight U21 tournament the Milchama Warriors lost in the second round to a higher ranked opponent. This time it was number 3 seeded Fmjphoenix Vikings in comparison to last time when it was the number 6 seeded Chicanada Kodikits. Coach Patrice Thibault had this to say after the loss, "Well most of these guys and gal are 18 or 19 so they will be back next time and that means that we can only do better next time." The Warriors, who will have a new nickname next cup, can only go up from here.
Match Report:
The Warriors stepped with a lot of confidence considering that they thought they were playing 17th ranked Klakistany. When they looked and saw 3rd seeded Fmjphoenix they had one thought we can still win. It looked good early when Elana Kilinin found Floren Albentine at the edge of the 18 yard box and Albentine made a brilliant finishing move to get the Warriors first goal. After the goal the game settled down and got pretty boring as both sides fought for possesion and opportunities. The majority of the first half was played out this way and the score at the end of the half was 1-0 to Milchama.
Second Half:
The game stayed similair for most of the second half. The game started to look boring and a few fans from both usually offensive minded sides started to boo as the kids just could not secure the ball effectively. Finally and unfortunately Fmjphoenix started to get some good possesion as Brian Dougood got a good shot off in the 73rd. Only two minutes later Aaron Newhome scored only to be called offsides (correctly) by the line judge. Then in the 82nd minute the Vikings tied the game up when Laura Boyd got a thru pass from Aaron Newhome and was sent straight into the box to score and make it 1-1. Only 3 minutes the Vikings struck again as Brian Dougood headed in a corner kick to put the game more or less out of reach for the Warriors and make win the game for the Vikings.
Final Score:
Fmjphoenix 2 (Boyd 82, Dougood 85)
Milchama 1 (Albentine 5)

Young'Uns March Into Semi-Finals

Bettia 5 (Howerth 46, Farmer 48pen, Rhydderch 67, Teague 78 85)
Lovisa 2 (A couple of Lovisan chaps 14 35)

A game of two halves - it's an oft-used cliché, and it's games like these that show you just why.

Bettia came into this game knowing they needed to win to be sure of qualification whilst unranked Lovisa were just playing for pride after two heavy defeats, and it their Lovisan opponents who hit the floor running, going into half-time with a healthy-looking two-goal cushion.

Bettian fortunes improved dramatically after the break - indeed a more dramatic change in fortunes has rarely been seen at any level of football. After just 30 seconds, Gwarthen Rhydderch teed Ieuan Howerth up with a superb cross which the Old Liamopolis striker buried gleefully into the net. Rhydderch was involved just two minutes later when his jinking run was halted by a crude trip in the area - Maindy's Ziyad Farmer stepped up to score his first international goal from the penalty spot.

Apart from setting up the two goals, Gwarthen Rhydderch was a constant thorn in Lovisa's side, and it came as no surprise when he got himself on the scoresheet after intercepting a wayward backpass.

The Young'Uns were at last in front and cruising, posing a constant threat to the Lovisan back line. Eric Teague gave Bettia a two-goal cushion by side-footing in a Farmer cross, and then put the icing on the cake at the end by shooting home from the D.

So the Bettian players came off the the field congraulating each other on a job well done. Those congratulations turned to celebrations as the news filtered through of Starblaydia's shock defeat at the hands of Tonissia. This result meant that Bettia finished on top of the group on goal difference, and in doing so avoided a difficult second-round match against cup holders Spruitland.

Instead they face the group runners-up Marligantis, who tied with three other teams on three points but qualified on goal difference courtesy of their last-day victory. An easier game on paper, but how would it translate onto the pitch?

Bettia 8 (Rhydderch 1 5 7 90, Devanallt 32 39, Vaughan 68, Ffagan 89)
Marligantis 6 (Some guys 35 45 59 63 67 79)

Bettia's participation in this tournament continues after they finished on the right side of a fourteen goal thriller. Their all-out-attacking style is certainly paying dividends, and now they wait to find out who they face next - it could be 16th-ranked Beefy-Bumble-Holding, but surely everyone in the Blessed Realm will be hoping for a local derby against Cockbill Street. Indeed, Cockbill Street are the only one of Bettia's neighbours that they haven't faced in international football.

The undoubted star of the show was Gwarthen Rhydderch, who knocked Marligantis for six as he raced to a stunning hat-trick in the first seven minutes. His was a cracking 25-yard drive timed at just 19 seconds that left the Marligantis keeper flat-footed. The second just four minutes later came after a neat one-two with Gwrlais Devanallt saw Rhydderch through on goal, from where he made no mistake. His hat-trick came two minutes later, after Ieuan Howerth's cross in from the wing was met with a weak punch from the keeper and ended up at Rhydderch's feet in the area, which he struck first time to leave Bettia's opponents well and truly shell-shocked.

The Young'Uns continued playing their fluid attacking style, but all the while their opponents were gradually getting back in touch. Gwrlais Devanallt headed Bettia's fourth just after the half-hour mark, to which Marligantis replied with a goal of their own.

Not to be outdone, Devanallt scored his second of the day soon afterwards with another header to get his team back into the driving seat and seemingly heading into the break with a 5-1 lead. However, that became 5-2 with virtually the last kick of the half resulting from some sloppy defending by Howes.

The second half was definately more equally matched, and Marligantis were the first to score from a 59th-minute corner. This set a few alarm bells ringing in the Bettian camp, and this ringing became a cacophony when a two-minute blitz saw Marligantis back on level terms.

Bettia's reply to this setback was instant, as Egryn Vaughan raced through a defence who seemed to be still celebrating their equalising goal and crashed the ball past a despairing keeper. However, that led was short lived, as Marligantis scored again ten minutes later to make the scoreline 6-all.

Both sides went all-out for the win with no success, and the game loked to be heading for extra time. Butetown's Eurys Ffagan begged to differ, as he scored in the last minute of normal time to edge the Young'Uns back into the lead. Man-of-the-Match Gwarthen Rhydderch then capped off a thrilling day's football with his fourth goal of the game.

So who would Bettia face next? And whoever it is, can the viewing public expect another goalfest like this one?

Bettia 8 (Farmer 14, Devanallt 19 66, Teague 39, Rhydderch 55 58, Howerth 73, Ap Tegryn 86)
Cockbill Street 4 (Random Streetians 7 34 44 80)

The answer to those questions were 'Cockbill Street' and 'Yes!'. For the second match running the Young'Uns put eight past their opponents to book a semi-final matchup against Hockey Canada or Starblaydia.

Bettia suffered an initial setback as their northern neighbours scored in the seventh minute, but soon got back into their stride as Ziyad Farmer rifled in a free-kick, then Gwrlais Devanallt put Bettia ahead when he rose amoungst a crowd of players to reach a corner ahead of the Streetian goalkeeper.

However, Cockbill Street proved to be rather dogged and edged themselves level from the penatly spot on 34 minutes. Unfortunately for them, the parity only lasted for five minutes as Eric Teague put the Young'Uns back ahead with a diving header from a Gwarthen Rhydderch cross. In a moment of deja vu, the lead only lasted for five minutes as a Streetian striker met a cross with a diving header which Safwan Sulaiman (who, if transfer rumours are correct, could be making his way to Vilita for the new season) was powerless to stop.

If the first half was an even contest, the second half was anything but as Bettia took full control. Gwarthen Rhydderch put the Young'Uns well and truly in the driving seat with a three-minute blitz in which he bagged himself a brace. The first came when he received a pass to his feet from Ali Ap Tegryn. With his back to goal, he turned and lashed the ball home from the edge of the area. Three minutes later he was on hand again, sidefooting home a parried shot from Howerth.

Devanallt soon made it six with his second of the day, chipping theball over the Streetian goalkeeper after Ap Tegryn sprung the offside trap. It was seven to Bettia seven minutes later after Ieuan Howerth struck the ball from a narrow angle, which cannoned off the goalkeeper's leg and into the net.

Cockbill Street replied soon after that, giving themselves a faint glimmer of hope with ten minutes to go, but Ali Ap Tegryn polished off a fine performance with a goal of his own to put the game beyond doubt.

Bettia now face Hockey Canada in the semi-final, who are ranked eighth and sure to provide a stern test, or Starblaydia, who defeated Bettia on the opening day of this tournament. Although Bettia and Hockey Canada have never met at this level, the senior squads did meet in the semi-final of the last Cup of Harmony, a match which saw the Canucks go through after extra time. Should Hockey Canada progress, the Young'Uns will be hoping to do what the Aroras couldn't and defeat their communist opponents. Either that, or they'll be looking to put one over their Matchday 1 opponents

2nd round of U21C19 results

No Jeruselem here but plenty of close results all the same!

Now as we predicted Hockey Canada did win their game against An Archy but they did it in style with 3-1 win. We urge Jeruselem fans get help the Canadians into the semi finals!

Last year's winner Spruitland crashed into the brick wall called Starblaydia who can now be called favourites. The Starz are looking really good with their 2-1 win over the top seed.

Cockbill Street used all their World Cup experience to beat off a determined Beefy-Bumble-Holding 2-1 in AET. We predicted Streetians wouldn't win, but the Beeft ones almost did the job all the same.

Bettia did beat Marligantis as we predicted but the scoreline was 8-6. 14 goals in one game - good entertainment but not very good omen for the next opponent who won't let that happen.

Pacitalia downed Ruventsoria in close game, as our friends Ruventsoria from the World Cup 24 Group C pushed them to the limit. Ruventsoria lost in AET 1-2.

Vilita, the Jungle Kitties, took out the Nedalian Lions 2-1. This means Nedalian fans have to watch Hockey Canada games or more NPL highlights on JGN.

Fmjphoenix did win, but Milchama put up a fight. Milchama lost 1-2 to the Vikings - the only multiple winner of U21 Championships left.

The Chicanada vs Klakistany was 2-1.

The quarter-finals?

Hockey Canada (8) vs Starblaydia (6)

Hot game - don't miss it. Starblaydia should be favoured to win after knocking out the Bunnies, but the Canadians aren't just here for fun.

Cockbill Street vs Bettia (21)

Cockbill Street should win as their defense is not the type to conceded 8 goals.

Pacitalia (12) vs Vilita (11)

Vilita in a tight win over Pacitalia, in AET. Maybe this is the time for Vilita to return back to the big time? 1 cup them so far - only Fmjphoenix, Jeruselem, Bedistan and of course, System Karela has more.

Fmjphoenix (3) vs Chicanada (5)

Goodness me, can't pick this one. Two great teams - the Vikings maybe, but Chicanada could spring an upset too. The Vikings are in the hunt for a 3rd cup!

Jade and Rab's Excellent Adventure
'Sixty-Nine, dudes!'

Ninety-five Under-21 World Cup games. Sixty-Nine wins. That's pretty bloody incredible, when you think about it. A 72.6% winning record within ninety- or one hundred and twenty-minute long matches, as Starblaydia's record-keepers don't take the 'penalty-kick-lotteries' into account when calculating these things. The sixty-ninth win came courtesy of double-substitutes Jade Matranga and Rabindra Singh.

When you've got 15 minutes left in a Second-round match against the defending champions, Spruitland, you've got to pull your finger out and take a gamble. Fortune favours the brave, after all. So throwing on a sixteen year-old girl in place of one of the team's Cockbill Street contingent and replacing an Iskara Daii starlet with a Penningworth United back-up looked to be Khim Azanulbizarn's final attempt to get Fortune's attention and tell her to get her arse in gear.

And did she ever.

Two goals in the last five minutes crushed Spruitland's hopes of a second consecutive title, dumping them out of the competition at the same time as seven other teams. First young Matranga scored, then combined with Singh to set up Menecrates for the second and decisive winner.

Spruitland thought their young Liga Starblaydia striker Robbad Asay had sent the match into extra time but it was to no avail, as Jaime Oberlander's quick step-forward made the linesman wave his flag in Assay's general direction. Starblaydi TV's replay, however, proved inconclusive. Spruitland TV sets, however, were shown how Robbad had been onside by a good three feet well into the night, showing that the possibility of Extra Time had been stolen from them.

Seventy denied for Starblaydia

Starblaydia may just get their seventieth Under 21 win but it won't come against Hockey Canada who upset the Rayzors yesterday 3-0 to advance to the semi-finals to play Bettia for the coveted finals berth. Hockey Canada looked and played strong all game not disappointing Jeruselem, Rejistania and Nedalia fans who were watching the game. The Hockey Canadians poured on their defence and to their avail saw not a single goal go past their own goal line. As for Starblaydia...

The game started off as Hockey Canadian soccer should. The opening whistle and the drunken fan running onto the field. Then a goal by (surprise, surprise!) Syku Kansu in the 2nd minute. The goal seemed to catch Starblaydia off guard as they quickly fell back as if to keep players like Kansu or Ty from getting near their net. The Canucks had other plans for the half as the game wore on.

Physical play around the Starblaydia net was just how the Hockey Canadians wanted to play. The Rayzors pushing back to their own end was routine for the Canucks who practised this in many practises and warm-ups. Then just before halftime, a few players pushing in front of the net saw Kansu Ty find the ball at his feet and not sooner later in the back of the net to a chorus of screaming fans. Hockey Canada was up 2-0 on the favourites.

The "miracle on grass" it was later dubbed and a miracle it seemed. Hockey Canada wasn't supposed to go this far in the tournement but the Canucks proved everybody and including themselves wrong as they upset Starblaydia- quickly becoming Hockey Canada U21 rival. At halftime fans and newscasters both couldn't believe the raction of the fans fueled by beer and motivation that their team was leading Starblaydia and had some insurance.

Syku Kansu was argueably the best player in the tournement leading up to this night and he shone brighter than the lights at the stadium in Total n Utter Insanity. Kansu took the ball just at midfield taking a pass from Mexshina running the ball deep upfield. Kansu ran past three Starblaydian defenders to put the ball past the keeper and into history as Hockey Canada were up by three goals on the Rayzors.

The final whistle blew to many people's releif and cheers as Hockey Canada saw their way through to the semi-finals against a relentlessly strong Bettian side. Hockey Canada was once a giant back in U21WC17, only this time they'll play the role of the giant-slayer. A win? A loss? A key to the Championships? Find it all on JGN.

Fmjphoenix returns to the finals, wait for opponent

The defensive expierence is proving to be a valuble lesson to the Junior Vikings. Andrew Jenkins provided all the scoring that Fmjphoenix needed with his lone goal in the 85th minute as the Junior Vikings downed Pacitalia 1-0 en route to their 5th finals birth.

It was a close match for all 90 minutes. Fmjphoenix held possession 48-42, and had more shots 4-3. The first half was boring, there were no shots taken and no real challenges. Pass, loose ball, pass. That was about all that happened in the first half. But the second half saw action. But the main action that worked was Jenkins first ever international goal. His goal was a special shot too, as he tripped and slapped the ball past a stuned keeper. The Junior Vikings victory keeps Pacitalia winless against Fmjphoenix's U21 squad.

Now on to the finals. Their opponent is still unknown, but it will be either Bettia, suprise underdogs of U21WC19, or Hockey Canada, the Junior Vikings opponents in U21WC17. By making the finals, it keeps a weird streak going for the Junior Vikings. They have been in the finals every other cup since U21WC13. 13 and 15 were victories against Starblaydia and 17 was a loss against the Canucks. Compile that with the Junior Vikings first entry against Total and Utter Insanity, and Fmjphoenix is 2-2 in championship matches. The Junior Vikings will try to join Rejistania as the only team to win 3 U21WC Championships.

Young'Uns Pay The Penalty

Bettia 0
Hockey Canada 0
(After Extra Time - Hockey Canada win 4-3 on penalties)

The scoreline says it all... this was a hard-fought encounter between two equally-matched teams, one intent on attack, the other intent on defence. 'The irresistable force meets the immovable object' is one cliché that immediately springs to mind.

Bettia's higher-ranked opponants lined up with their trademark 7-man defence that signalled their intention to get behind the ball and soak up wave after wave of attacking pressure. On the rare occasion that a Young'Un did get through the defensive wall, they were faced with Mexhisna Ateok~hana, a young keeper well on top of his game. Rhydderch, Howerth and Teague were all thwarted by the agile Canuck in the first half.

The second half followed the same pattern, with Bettia relentlessly battering the Hockey Canadian back line with little effect. At the other end, Kansu Ty had a good chance after escaping the attentions of Owain Rhys. So despite Bettia's best efforts, the game moved into extra time.

Perhaps Bettia's best chance of the game came in the 104th minute, as a long ball from Stephen Harris found Rhydderch and Howerth both springing the offside trap. Rhydderch collected the ball and confronted the keeper, whom he sidestepped but was unfortunately forced wide. With a small but open target waiting, the Marseille striker elected to shoot instead of taking the easier option of squaring it to Howerth, who was still unmarked in the box.

And so the Young'Uns faced their first ever penalty shoot-out. They were left with a mountain to climb after missing their first two spot-kicks; Ateok-hana got down well to save Teague's effort, and then stood his ground to easily gather Rhydderch's ambitous chip. Although a brief glimmer of hope emerged after Lyku skyed his shot over the bar, Hockey Canada hung on to come out on top and progress to the final to face Fmjphoenix.

Bettia now face Pacitalia in a tricky-looking third-place play-off. Having massively over-achieved during this tournament, the Young'Uns will be proud of their acheivement no matter what the result of their last game. Bettian Under-21 football is now well and truly on the NS map.

Bettia goes down in Penalties

Hockey Canada will be in the finals of the Under 21 World Cup for the second time in it's history dating back to U21WC13. Since then teams like Fmjphoenix, Starblaydia, Rejistania and Spruitland have displayed their dominance or upcoming dominance in the game. Hockey Canada originally sent a team of players who were descendants of Rejistanian and System Karelan immigrants. They proved themselves yesterday in a very tight game that was decided by only one goal.

Syku Kansu is arguably the best player in the tournement. Displaying speed, finesse and scoring ability along to go with superb passing skills as well as shooting. Kansu was able to display this early in the game when he took control of the ball in the 3rd minute firing a ball at the Bettian keeper but to no avail against Safwan Sulaiman. Sulaiman managed to stat sharp only two mintues later as Kansu Ty broke in to shoot but still the keeper couldn’t be blocked.

Bettia applied hard pressure later on in the first half but the wall of Hockey Canadian players managed to hold off the Young’uns. Rhydderch was the first player to break through to face keeper Mexhisna Ateok~hana but the goalie was playing hot and saved the ball. Howerth was the second player in the half to breach the Hockey Canadian defense but once again Ateok~hana remained solid. The last time in the half Bettia would penetrate the wall was Teague who got off a brilliant shot just inside the 18-yard box. Ateok~hana stretched out to get a piece of the ball as hit his his hand, the post and out of harm’s way.

The second half saw Hockey Canada allow not a single Bettian player penetrate the defence-wall established. Kansu Ty nearly was the hero in the 71st minute when he broke through the Bettian defence on a lucky lob pass from Lyku. Ty ran up to the keeper but Sulaiman made the excellent save to preserve the 0-0 draw. Extra time solved nothing but did see Kansu Syku get a yellow card for tripping at midfield.

Hockey Canada somewhat enjoyed their penalty kicks but still got through by the skin of their teeth. Ateok~hana played like he had nothing to lose (except the game) stopping Teague’s hard and low shot with his fingers and Rhydderch's chip shot where a quick shuffle of his feet to catch the ball. Hockey Canada scored on all of their shots except for one then Lyku slammed his shot into the bar shaking the net. Unfortunately for him it went over instead of in.

Hockey canada now will face Fmjphoenix, a team the Canucks know all too well. This will be a rematch of the U21WC17. The Canucks are looking for their second cup which will tie them with Bedistan, Jeruselem, and Fmjphoenix. Fmjphoenix will be looking for their third cup which will tie the Rejistanians for U21 World Cups. A win like four years ago or a loss? It’ll all ride on this one last game.

Nedalian fans began flooding out of TnUI tonight after sticking around to watch their eastern neighbors Bettia attempt to lift the U21 title, but alas, it was not to be. After barely making it through the group stage and crashing out in the second round to Vilita, many fans were left disappointed by the apparent lack of potential in the U21 side.

"It truly is a sad scenario our football is going through. It seems there is no time given to the future of our country's football anymore. Granted, we've got some incredible young players who are applying their trade with the national squad, but bloody hell, we didnt even have a decent left winger! You cant have a Nedalian team without a decent left winger!" commented fan Jorgio Ahmad.

The man raises a good point. Not only did the team lack a decent left midfielder, but the subpar squad that was put together also lacked the famed Nedalian offense. However, even after crashing out, the Lions stuck around to cheer on Bettia, whose fans welcomed their western neighbors with open arms. Nedalia banners were replaced by Bettian ones, and if the fans were from southeastern Nedalia, you would not be a fool if you couldnt identify one from the other.

Also on hand were Nedalia favorites, Jeruselem, who sadly managed to do a worse job than the Lions themselves. The manager, Brent Vent, even suggested that two U21 squads have a training camp together.

"I think we could learn alot from each other, and would only strengthen the strong bond between our people. Besides, we really couldnt do any worse than we did this time around," he said.

Blue Foxes' run cut short at semis, but nobody's complaining

It had to end somewhere, didn't it? A 12th-seeded team going all the way to the semifinals unhindered by greater opposition just didn't seem right. Therefore, once again, Pacitalia's friendly rivals, the Junior Vikings of Fmjphoenix's established U21 programme, put the Blue Foxes to sleep after their improbable run from mediocrity to improvement to awestruck admiration to greatness.

The Junior Vikings kept Pacitalia from the finals with a low-scoring 1:0 victory over our U21 Blue Foxes, but the home squad gets another crack at some form of recognition - if they beat Bettia, the Blue Foxes finish third. Nobody's complaining about third, and nobody's complaining period. Blue Fox Football fans are erratic with insanity after watching their team flounder in nine straight tournaments and then come into this tournament, going undefeated in the round-robin and stonewalling Ruventsoria and Vilita before finally bowing out against Fmjphoenix in a narrow, defensive game.

Fmjphoenix's goal was scored by star forward Andrew Jenkins late in the game - the 85th minute, to be precise. So, it's safe to assume the match was pretty even until that point, where a Romano Cristiano Santi misplay of the ball let the score break free of the long-drawn, scoreless deadlock.

Great offence was seen on our side of the pitch from our Dynamic Quartet, as they're being affectionately called now (Massimo da Scupeta, Andreos Charisteas, Afino Boranogunta and Bertrando Massimatto), and although they couldn't seem to solve the Fmjphoenix defensive core, they put few a handful of excellent and seat-clenching opportunities to put the game in Pacitalia's favour. However, it was not to be, and Pacitalia instead steps out of the spotlight and into, as mentioned, the third-place match against unexpected upstart Bettia, who qualified by the skin of their teeth, then went on to play David, versus Goliath, on two occasions (their second round and QF matches). As the Bettian media said, it's going to be a "tricky" match and the Blue Foxes will have to work hard to ensure that they at least get to be third.

If not, fourth place still is better than getting kicked out of the second round, as many BFXFootball fans are reminding us. Despite the loss, it was still an excellent game, and expect the Blue Foxes to return in very good form next year for U21WC20, and in this 3PPO.

'Our Worst-Ever Under-21 Defeat'
Azanulbizarn addes entry to Book of Grudges

It's official - the 3-0 defeat in the Quarter-Final of Under-21 World Cup 19 was the Starblaydi Under-21s most-heavy defeat. Never before in over thirty years of compeition have Starblaydia lost by more than two goals, but now it has finally happened.

"Tis a sad day for the Under-21 program," Manager Khim Azanulbizarn said, "but tis one of them things that has to happen eventually."

This result will surely go down into the Dwarves' Book of Sporting Grudges and be underlined a few times by the Manager. A loss is nver nice to bear, but a new record-loss is something quite out of the ordinary. Starblaydia have conceeded three or more goals in the past before, but never a three-goal margin of defeat, not in the thirty-four years of competing in Total n Utter Insanity.

"One way, or another," Khim said, "we're gonna get 'em back for this. Ye ken? A Dwarf always pays his debts."

U21C19 Wrap-up

Hockey Canada

Yes, our friends from Canada have made the final again. With one U21 cup, they are in with a chance for a 2nd one. They stunned Starblaydia 3-0 then won the semi against Bettia on penalties. With this form, only Fmjphoenix stands in the way to glory.

Bettia smashed Cockbill Street 8-4, unbelievable! They then played the Canadians who stopped their scoring spree - 16 goals in 2 games. The semi was scoreless and they lost penalties 3-4, unlucky but the Canadians are the new System Karelans. Bettia are top 10 material for the next U21.

Pacitalia smashed up the Jungle Kitties 3-1 and looked good until they ran into the brick wall called Fmjphoenix, losing 0-1 in the semis. Good U21 for this team against the best.

Fmjphoenix had to fight past Chicanada 2-1 and then fight harder to get past Pacitalia 1-0. They will meet Hockey Canada in the final - one will win their 2nd U21 and the other win claim their 3rd. Who will prevail, watch on JGN and get the U21C19 DVD later!

Conversation overheard in the Sports Department of the C-mail

"Oh. The under-21s beat Beefy-Bumble-Holding 2-1."

"Really? Came down to the third Test, did it?"

"Um, no...not really. It was all over in ninety minutes."

"WHAT? Were they playing Five5 or something?"

"Don't think so. They used a white ball, though, as far as I can make out."

"Weird."

"Who top-scored?"

"Ian Johnson, apparently. Of Vimesbairn Athletic. Made two."

"Two?! Two?! What kind of sport is this?!!"

"Football, I think..."

"Oh. Should we put it somewhere in the middle of the sport section then?"

"Yeah. There's space for a three-liner in the corner of the Ayreshire seasonal review."

"Foreign sods. Deserved their awful season."

"Too right."

Junior Vikings move into elite company with 3rd championship

With two defensive formations going at it, you would not be supruised by the match going 0-0 even after extra time. But when it took 11 combined penalty shots to make ends, it was unbelievable. But when the dust cleared, it was Fmjphoenix on top with the cup raised high in the air. The third championship puts Fmjphoenix as only the second nation to win three U21WC Championships. The other nation, being the teams rivals Rejistania. With a good amount of the team coming back for U21WC20, could Fmjphoenix make the leap and become the winningest nation in U21 Football? We will see.

YES!

We did it! Finally, a third place finish in the U21 tournament, as the Blue Foxes capped off an excellent run, going an outstanding 6-0-1 in the tournament, exiting the main run at the semifinals with a narrow loss to Fmjphoenix and then cruising through the third-place playoff with a resounding 3:1 victory over upstart Bettia.

Pacitalia's goals came from Massimo da Scupeta (33rd), Afino Boranogunta (49th) and Nicusor Petru Vasilica (70th). And, as said, because of that win, the Blue Foxes finish in a very respectable third and move up to a final placing of 4th seed for the next cup, next year in TnUI. Next year, we'll be back in force.
