ANN INFOCAST: ELECTIONS IN ALLANEA
Today, the date and main candidates of the Confederate States Presidential Election have finally been announced. We are proud to be the first news company to bring them to you.
Republican:The Republican party, significantly weakened by the aura of the war crimes committed by its previous leader, President Demarque, is now running Alexander Graham for President of the Confederate States. Richard L. Smith, a former firearms industry executive from Allanean Alabama, is his running mate. Their campaign promise is to increase Allanea’s military strength as much as possible within the limits of the Treaty of the Wolf, and to negotiate the Taraskovyans for more ‘comfortable’ treaty conditions.
Libertarian:The Libertarian Party is running Lionel Roberts, a former civil engineer, for President. His running mate is Alexander Newman, a furry community leader. The Libertarians promise to use the powers of the CREST agency to enforce Allaneans civil rights in the former Tiburonese states. Furthermore, they wish to institute a Federal ban on vehicle registration and to repeal pilot licensing laws.
Democrat: The Democrats, who have been slowly crawling back into unelectability in the past few years, are now running Johanathan Kwark and Leonard Niven for the highest office of the Confederacy. Their promise is to reduce the size of the military, turn a peaceful fact to all nations, and to fund an effective, constitutionally legal system of public education.
Beyond that, a small amount of fourth-party candidates have decided to run:
Constitution Party: Emboldened by their victory in the last Congressional elections, when they won fifty House seats and a seat in the Senate, the Constitution Party decided to run a pair of unusual Presidential candidates - Reverend John Walker and Daniel McPherson, a former truck repairman from Allanean Florida. The party is not expected to win more than 2% of the vote, however they have so far dedicated five million dollars to campaign funds - more than the Democratic party, in fact.
Prohibition Party: No, we ain’t kidding. Those boys want the Volstead Act back. Their chance of victory is about that of a fly in a can of Raid, but they ain’t giving up. They are running former Alabama Attorney-General Charles Daniels and Frederick McKinley for office. Bets are being made on whether they can cross the 0.5% mark.
