Expansion. It was something hat had been part of Khristian society for generations. It had been accomplished by force in the past, but now was a time of peace. It was a magneficant new era of peace and prosperity, if one did not count the terrible war on Mars. But for the most part the Khristians were prospering.
Industy and Agriculture prospered on Earth, War prospered on Mars and Science prospered on Dramon. And then there was Zara-Khrista which saw a combination of all these attributes.
The Khristian Confederacy was interesting and complex. Level after level of hierarchy intertwined with tribal families, religous breauocrats and greedy soldiers. The Clans, the church and the military all had their own parcels of land, their own industry, their own agenda.
The Confederacy was a land of complex intrigue yet simple, raw emotion...
And then there was Peter Ikatori, the grea unifier of Khristiandom, a peaceful man, yet he didn't hesitate to use violence. It didn't matter though, that was not the matter at hand for the Confederacy.
Peter walked up the steps that led to the stage. He liked all the formalities that came with making a speech. All the reporters traveling in their caravans of cars and their armadas of cameramen. All the questions that droned on for hours, the focusing of attention on him. He enjoyed his power very much, perhaps too much...
He strode up to the wooden podium covered with microphones of just about every television company from New Zionitikiri to the Lila outpost in the Kuiper Belt. He took a deep breath, grasped the sides of the podium and began his speech.
"There comes a time in the growth of every nation where the size of the population begins to exceed the size of that nation. We have not yet reached that point, but we must realize that we may soon reach it. Therefore, I am commissioning three Mother Theresa class vessels for exploration and colonization of our galaxy. We must also realize that we live in a dangerous and violent galaxy, which is why these vessels shall be outfitted with the latest in Khristian weapons technology.
"I am also instituting a new building program of more Mother Theresa , Ikatori , Emperor Kyou Graav , Neo-Omicron , and transport vessels to help build these new colonies, and to exploit and defend them.
" I hope that we may increase our prosperity in this new era of peace and that the longevity of our nation might be preserved."
Peter nodded, turned and exited, stage right.
