he Federation of Solian Planets was recently founded on Mars, with the goal of creating a union of free democratic settlements independant of Earth, with the goal of the peacful exploration and settlement of space. We envision ourselves as eventually encompassing through peacful aquisition of colonies, and the establishment of our own, all off Earth Human settlements in the Sol system. We are interested in establishing a small presence on Earth, ideally in the form of a small island near the equator that we can use for launches to orbit, bot to supply ourselves, and to establish trade between Earth and ourselves. This site would be open to the world, and would be considered an embassy to all of Earth, the launch facilities would be made available to all nations (for an apropriate fee of course).
We were founded by the union and declaration of independance from Earth of several Mars colonies, and consider ourselves to b mostly independant from Earth, all food and consumable resources are currently produced on Mars, and we are establishing a home grown Mars electronics and aerospace industry. Currently we must import many high complexity electronic components and plastics, but consider ourselves to be independant of Earth's supplies for basic survival.
The vast bulk of our population is concentrated on Mars, but we also have small outpost on both Phobos and Deimos, growing orbital space station orbiting Mars, Earth and Earth's Moon. Currently our nation is investing heavily in Fusion power research and is about to begin construction of a surface station on Earth's Moon. We are preparing a manned flight to several main belt asteroids to investigate settlements and mining potential, and are flying a series of solar sail powered probes to test their practicality for various purposes. Generally these project move slower than we would like, as our population is only about 7 million, with most of our budget devoted to social programs.
Finally, as to other nations exploring and utilizing space, we have no objection as long as they do not interfere with our established settlements, equipments, etc. Also, although we have a presence on the moon, we believe that due to it's proximity to Earth, the Moon should be jointly administered by us and the nations of Earth.
