OOC: If you've ever played Mercs on the PS2 or XBox, you'll get the idea of this pretty quick.

He hunkered down behind the remains of the concrete wall, his breath coming in short, sharp gasps. His hands shook slightly as he released the magazine on his M4, and inserted a fresh one from his belt pouch. Strapped to his back was a silenced sub-machine rifle, the smell of cordite still issuing from the smoking barrel. In fact, cordite was all he really could smell. Bullet cases, magazines, even abandoned weapons littered the floor on which he was now sat. It was cold and metallic, but it was still somewhere he could rest in some form of safety. He laid his rifle down by his side, and reached, trembling, into his belt. He drew out a detonator, flipping up the cover on the switch. As his finger rested on the switch, he muttered to himself,"Fire in the hole"

The explosion lit up the night sky, the C4 charge tearing through the fuel tanks on which it had been planted. It beamed light down, illuminating the landscape, including where he hid. It was a brilliant flash, then the sound of flames licking at buildings, that familar crackling. He smiled, and rested his head against the wall for a moment. Behind him, he could hear yells and screams... all in all, a good days work. It was not a moment later that he heard a single crack, followed by another yell, but not one of pain, but of outrage. Sprinting across the road, illuminated in the spotlight of the opposing forces, a lithe figure came. There was the sound of a heavy machine gun opening fire, the rounds stiching into the tarmac with that familar thud thud thud. The figure darted into a bush, which was torn to shreds. It didn't matter, as Nikolai dived over the wall himself and lay there for a moment, the Dragunov in his hands not wavering. Damien looked at him, and smiled, showing how he had lost three teeth, two of which had been replaced by gold ones. He held up a cigarette case, and offered one to his friend, who gratefully accepted, taking a lighter from his pocket, and lighting both before handing one back to his friend. They sat there in stony silence, letting the commotion die down before choosing to leave... although not without leaving another little present for their guests. Crawling over the hilltop, they laser designated the remaining area for a surgical strike. It came soon enough, a two thousand pound bomb impacting the only remaining structure, making it crumble under the shock...

*0600, the next morning*
Major Hati surveyed the damage with a weary eye. It was the single most devastating raid since this war had begun... nearly one hundred men dead, and the fuel refinery devastated. What made it worse? That it was not the allied forces who had inflicted this damage, but mercenaries. Those dogs... do they have no honour?

The answer was, of course, yes. They did have some honour.. they just expressed it differently to others. Mercenaries could do what regular forces could not... all it took was a little cash, and you could get a decent solider. Hiring through agencies was better obviously, then you had something you could talk to when things got hot. ExOps was just one such agency, although they didn't say they were a mercenary company. No, they called themselves 'private military contractors'.... it sounded better

*************************************************************

All over the penisula, battles were being waged between the various factions. The Mafia, the Allies, the Chinese, and both North and South Korea. Ever since the discovery of nuclear weapons by allied forces on a stranded North Korean vessel bound for Sydney, things had escalated to an all out war. Allied forces had crossed the DMZ, and now things were becoming a quagmire. The latest deck of 52 had been issued, bounties posted... and nothing. Not a siungle capture. The Allies couldn't attack certain areas, the Chinese had deployed their own army also, South Korea was basically under CIA control.... and the Mafia were there for their own ends. Nothing more. Thus, the Dogs of War had to be called...

OOC: Simple structure really. You can be a faction, or you can be mercs. ONly three merc nations, and a single nation for each of the other factions. Each merc can accept jobs to attack other factions, and then you all figure it out. Anyone interested?

OOC:All Mercenary positions are now filled.

IC: Damien kicked his boots off, and sat back in the reclining chair, breathing in the pungent fumes of a Cuban cigar, exhaling smoothly, the smoke filling the air around him. His thick Texan accent was misleading to his origins. Orginally born in Washington, to an American father and a Korean mother, they moved to Dallas soon after, and he'd known nowhere else as home. After serving in the Marines, and then the S.E.A.L's, he'd retired from war, before it lured him back.

Across the opposite side of the room, his companion, Russian-born Nikolai, looked up and wrinkled his nose at the smell of the cigar, before saying in accented English,"Do you have to smoke that in here?"

"Where else am I gonna smoke it?"

"Outside prehaps"

"With those snipers? No sir"

Nikolai grimaced. Pure Russian, he had served in Afghanistan, so he was nearing fifty. He was still fast, and still accurate. Growing up in the Urals, he'd learned to shoot fast and accuratley, and had become a sniper in the Red Army, until the collapse of the Soviet bloc in the early 90's. Since then, he'd been a mercenary, and had been working for ExOps for almost ten years now. He stripped his rifle down, and began to clean it,"When do we get paid?"

"Tomorrow morning... word is that the commander may have another contract for us"

Former Captain of an Airborne company, only 5 feet and 2 inches tall, Iron Mike was not your regular Merc, like his father before him he was ex-military, and in fact they were both ex-airborne, but they were very different other than that, built like a tank and big enough to bench a jeep, literally, he's done it, there's video of him doing it, be afraid... "Wait, I got distracted, lemme start over..."

"Okay, just shut up Tommy, you screwed it up, now you got me here, get lost boy." The second voice belonged to Mike, it was like gravel on steel, with a touch of rasping from too much tobacco use, both chew and cigars, he was a very ugly man, short as an welf and lookin like a troll, his thick southern accent tended to give away his Georgian ancestry, and as he stepped into te light, his skin tone and dress gave it away even better, dressed in a camoflagued t-shirt, over vaguely camo jeans, vaguely because they were covered in mud, he carried a MG-240 as his personal weapon, and wielded SMGs like pistols, hewas big, mean, and he was here to make money.

Nikolai looked up, and glanced out the window,"Iron Mike and Tommy... I've heard of these guys"

"Of course you have, didn't you work with Tommy in Iraq?"

"Yeah, I think so. My mind's not what it used to be"

"Well don't just sit there, let them in. It's the middle of the bloody winter here, jackass"

"Do it yourself"

Damien grumbled slightly, but Nikolai shot him a look, and he stopped. Putting his cigar between finger and thumb, he opened the door,"Hey, guys, in here"

Little Tom Sunday, all 6 feet and 8 inches of him, preceded Mike through the door, Tommy made Mighty Mite look downright womanly, he was big, and he was built even more heavily, his entire frame was corded with muscle, every inch of him was honed to deadly perfection, Mike might have an medium MG-240, Tommyu carried Ma-Deuce...

"Nice to meet you." That was from Mike, and came out as "Nahce tuh meetcha" He was definitely a high-tech redneck.

Tommy, on the other hand, was a bit more understandable, being from Fredricksburg Virginia, he was almost intelligible, with very little accent, and none of Mikes southern drawl. "What he said." it came out sounding like (gasp) "What he said."

OOC: An M-240 and an M-60... subtle

IC: Damien shut the door behind them, and sat heavily on his bed. He was sturdily built, about 6'1'' and weighing in at about 210 lbs, all of it muscle. He was strong to be sure, but he was also fast. Able to run one hundred metres in 11 seconds. He carried a submachine gun, but never the MP5. Too complicated for field work. He also carried an assualt rifle, having grown to love the AK-74. Rugged, reliable, and lighter than the AK-47... it had seen him through many places. He chomped down on the cigar, and lit it up again, sahking the match to put the flame out.

Nikolai was another matter. Lithe, quite small in comparison to his companion, at about 5'10''. He carried a sub-machine gun also, but his primary weapon was a Dragunov SVD sniper rifle. It was laid across his knees, and he was cleaning it as the two newcomers walked in. He reached between his legs, and produced a bottle of Russian vodka,"Drink, anyone?"

OOC: That's M-240 and M-2, Ma-Deuce, even less subtle... And the M-2 still hammers Tommy, but I just love that firepower. Nobody smaller than he is could even TRY using an M-2 like he does, and Tommy's a fucking mountain.

"I'll take one, but do you have any OJ to go wth it?" Mike liked his "beeah", but Vodka was even better, especially the good Russian stuff, not that crappy American shit they called Vodka...

"No thanks, I wanna be able to shhot straight when this is over..." Tommy was more careful than his older, smaller companion.

Moire, North Ireland, 1998

Matt Thiel ducked under what was left of a small brick wall, two men behind him, all clutching their rifles tightly to their chests. His was a French made FAMAS, with an under slung M203 40mm grenade launcher. Why he was here was beyond him. He could care less about Jerry Adams, or North Ireland, or the British occupation. What did matter, however, was the fact that some random PSC had paid him 70,000IC to lead two of their operatives into Moire, and capture someone of some importance to some group.

This would lead to a rather illustrious carrier lasting five years in the Gladieus Dei, an Imitoran Catholic based Private Security Corporation, or mercenary group for the blunter, but that was another story for another time. No. The story now was how he planned to get past a platoon of British Paras, the elite airborne force of the Queen’s army. The norm would have been to sneak around them, the lesser trained paras, he doubted would have the necessary skills to detect the movements of the three man force, all former ICMC operators in the 22nd SOTAF (Special Operations TAsk Force). They were the elite light infantry unit of the Imitoran Marines, the Army Rangers of Imitora, if you will.

However, he knew the requirements of the operation, and that every one of the Queen’s finest that went down, he garnered another thousand Imitoran Credits. And the platoon was 43 strong. He looked back at the two men, dressed similarly in jungle style BDUs, black shirts, and LBVs bearing the Dei’s symbol, and nodded over the wall. “Our best bet is to nail them quick, they are relaxing right now,” he whispered quietly, slipping a 40mm HE grenade into the breach of the M203. “Carlos, you move around to the building, and provide sniper cover. Manuel, follow me, and stay low. They got a Rover that would be nice to have, get us to the house faster. We wanna move towards that in engagement, and use it for cover. Carlos, once we nab the rover, we’ll roll over and pick you up.”

The two Spanish men nodded, Thiel not taking in the irony, if there was any, in the situation. He stood, but stayed crouched low, and began to trot forward, when he heard it. The voice that shouted out was clearly English, an order. Stop, halt, wait, don’t go, whatever. Matt knew it meant stop. He turned, flicking from his hip, and bringing the rifle up. He squeezed, and the M230 round sailed through the air, and impacted the ground behind the group. The explosion sent shrapnel into the platoon, shards of metal and concrete ripping into the men. Thiel’s FAMAS, and Manuel’s M249, both ripped open, 5.56mm rounds ripping into the group of soldiers. The burst lasted seconds at most, killing of the platoon.

Matt looked on. He had stopped feeling that pang of guilt that came with killing another human, even for money. He slapped a new magazine into his rifle, and headed off in the direction of the safe house.

Tolston, Imitora, 2005

Matt’s hands were covered in the dark black fluid that was oil. The oil came from the engine of a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T 440. He was working on the motor when the wood behind him that lined the garage echoed out. “Yeah,” he asked to the unknown visitor behind him.

“Mr. Thiel, my name is James Madding, and I’m from Executive Performance Options. I would like to offer you a job with our company,” he spoke to the Matt’s back. Matt didn’t turn.

“I don’t do that sorta shit anymore. Got my money, don’t need to kill anymore. Anyways, I know you guys got your pick of the creamers. Why don’t you just take one of them?” He continued to work on his car, adjusting a random bolt that would in some way, shape, or form, effect its drivability.

“Well, Mr. Thiel, your qualifications offer you certain advantages in the area of operations. A fluency in Korean and Chinese being two, your,” he signaled to the car, despite Matt’s glance being away from him, “ability to work with automobiles, and your experience. Iraq, Ireland, Venezuela.”

The man knew his history. But Matt was as of yet unimpressed. He continued to work on the car, messing with the engine. “We’ll pay you fifteen million just to go in. Two hundred per kill, and bonuses for the deck of 52.”

Matt paused. The man had all but said that it was Korea, now it was confirmed. And fifteen million, well, that wasn’t to bad either. Matt righted himself, looked over at the one known as Madding, and nodded. “Fine, let me get my shit.”

Mercenary Operations Center, South Korea side of the DMZ, Present Day

Thiel pushed open the door into the room where a number of mercenaries already sat. He walked past them, and grabbed a chair. They were drinking some sort of alcohol, and didn’t feel like a drink. He was tired from the flight, and in reality, didn’t want to be there. But, the pay would be good, and that’s what mattered. He dropped a gear bag next to his chair, and looked over at the other mercs. He nodded at them, and waited for one of them to speak.

Damien looked up as Thiel entered the room, and grunted slightly. It was more his greeting, and was about as civil as he was going to get. Fiona Taylor was handling them on this assignment, she'd called in that the new guy was coming. Word on the street was that Madding had hired him personally, and that he was getting paid fifteen million just to be here. Someone had some skills, that was certain.

Nikolai shot him a look, and then turned to Thiel, his accent Russian,"Sorry about him... it's just that until you run with ExOps for a few years, he doesn't really talk"
Mini Miehm
31-08-2005, 15:10
Tommy and Mike were lounging up against the far wall when the new guy came in.

"Hey, hows it going?" Tommy was always a bit more friendly than Mike, who, like the "Son of Satan" over there, just grunted.

OOC: I can play the Chinese forces, being Chinese and all and the only person who seems to care about China's military.

Colonel Peng was upset. Majorly upset. Those South Koreans were pushing too far north. But that wasn't his biggest concern. The higher-ups in Beijing wanted him to take a garrison in Haeju, but he hadn't the infantry, nor the armour to do so. He needed a mercenary. He hated himself for it, but he ordered that Lt. Zhang send out a message, they needed help.

He reached into his bag, and pulled out a bottle of water. "Rule number one, dont drink the water," he chuckled, and took a swig. He placed it back in the bag, and zipped it up. "So, to the point, any jobs yet, or what?"

At least the pay was good. He kicked his chair back, leaning it on two legs, and put his hands behind his head, supporting it, while crossing one leg over the other. "Are we only pulling marks from the ess kays? Or are we going to the highest bidder? Also, I need to pick up some stuff, like a weapon. Normally they've been provided, might need somethin' to toss out bullets when I finally get to see some shit over here. CHINESE CONTRACT
MOST SECRET

Attention Mercenaries, recent South Korean infiltrations have crippled our mobile forces. As a result we are unable to take a North Korean Garrison stationed in Haeju and secure it for our ships to enter port. We need someone to take out their Armoured Division and Infantry Division there. Once you have completed the contract the People's Army will move in with APCs and Scout Cars to secure the area.

Provided Assistance

2 Free Artillery Strikes ($40,000 after exhaustion)
1 Chinese Scout Car $50,000
1 Free Chinese Supply Airdrop ($3,200 after exhaustion)

At Chinese HQ there is a Chinese APC with a TOW rocket launcher

Bonus

Destroy all North Korean Mobile Artillery Pieces (10)

Intel Report

This will be a tough one guys, the North Koreans have sealed off the city after a failed Chinese attack. And a large number of T-54 tanks are in the city, along with BMP APCs and BTR-60s. We also believe the North Koreans are planning to set up an artillery base to strike back at the Chinese from a distance. The western road is the most poorly defended, but stay off the streets. The North Koreans are searching every vehicle that comes through. Officiers will spot you, try a stealthy approach. Though the Chinese didn't exactly provide one in the way of assitance. Good Luck.

Contract Value: $120,000
Bonus Value: per Mobile Artillery Piece $10,000

"Who wants it? The odds see a little steep to me, unless somebody wants to team up and split the profits?" Mike sounded hopeful that someone would, they had some very heavy guns in trheir hands, but Tomy had forgotten to bring Lahti, and with out Lahti they would never be able to take down even one tank, much less the numbers that were stated in here, and even with stealth they would be pretty hard-pressed to do this alone.

"Use the Chinese APC to take some of their men to the area, dump it after using up the TOW's... they can be replaced. Once in, we need to avoid the tanks... an Allied airstrike could eliminate them. The artillery isn't all that accurate... but it's devastating."

Nikolai pointed out the roadblocks,"I can eliminate the officers from range... that will let you guys bluff your way inside. Steal some North Korean vhicles... I'm sure the Mafia would supply us, for a price of course"

Damien nodded,"Once we're in, we can work our way round the APC's... C4 or RPG the tanks... then eliminate the men. It should be a piece of cake... it jsut requires split second timing. Split the profits... but we're all working together. So, it wouldn't matter"

"Maybe, but what about the enemy Arty, are they just gonna be sitting around with their thumbs up their butts while we do this?" Tommy did not like Artillery, he'd had a few bad experiences with it in Ashkanistan, and was now rather wary of anything called 155.

"Well Tommy, what do you think that big gun you insist on carrying is for? You can take out the artillery, while the rest of us deal with the main objective."

"Do you really think that North Korean Artillery is going to start shelling their own forces?"

"Do you really think that North Korean Artillery is going to start shelling their own forces?"

"You make a good point, I hadn't considered that, though they might harass our retreat." Tommy still didn't like the idea of going in under artillery, and he really didn't like the idea of going out under artillery, but hey, they'd probably need his gun for cover, so there was no help for it, he'd have to do it their way or not at all, and he wasn't gonna quit.

"Why don't we split it," Theil spoke up. When he had the other's attention, he began to explain.

"I'm not the best sniper around, but with a decent rifle and a scope, I can hit just about anything, if I can get close enough, which I can. What I'm saying is, me and one of ya'll, we head up to the arty, and work them over. Harrass them, take out the gunners, and give you guys down in the base area breathing room. Blow your shit up, call in strikes, whatever. Hell, with us hitting the arty station, we may be able to take enough of their focus off the base, make it easier for you guys to get in."

Russian Mafia owned nightclub, The Morroco.
As the music blared, the strippers striped, and the drinks flowed, the heads of the Russian Mob had a meeting. The five 'department heads', the Don's aid and the mafia Don were at a somewhat dark and smokey table.

"Situation report and profits for this quarter." Don Illioch said as he took a sip of an glass of chardonney from the wedding of the last Zsar of Russia.

The profits in prostitution and slave trading are up seven points. Nothing major to report." Grigor replied

"The rackettering and black-mail is down two points. There is a good point thought, we've managed to ensnare a few high-goverment officials in the US. Victor replied

"The drug trade is up thirty points, but we had one of our distribution agents caught, he's been killed thought." Vladimir replied

"The larceny department is holding steady, and no news." Sergei replied

"The black-marketting is down twenty points..."

"What!!!" Illioch bellowed

"..A Chinese general has been cracking down exceptionally hard." Joseph said, quailling under Illioch's anger.

"Contact a merc, I want this bastard dead." Illioch said to his aid.

The Chinese needed to stop crime. Between the soldier ransoms, and the officier assassinations, the Chinese could barely move without someone taking down their abilities. And now the Mafia had gone too far. They stole a Type 96 tank. It was the latest Chinese Tank. Colonel Peng couldn't stand for this. Beijing will have him sent to the labour camps if they backward engineered it. He issued yet another contract.

Intelligence Report

Seems simple enough. Except for the fact that the entire compound is surrounded by RPG and SMG armed guards. From what I can tell the Chinese tank is kept inside a warehouse, the guards there have shotguns, any sound of gunfire or explosions will stop their research. In there, the Mafia's MG and GL Technicals are stored there. So stealth may not be the best solution or even a possible solution. I suggest a dirty trick, and C4. We need to remove their enterance guard towers and the electric gate. Good Luck guys.
